St. Peter’s Basilica Hours and Tickets

Opening Hours:

• From April to September: 7 am to 7 pm
• From October to March: 7 am to 6:30 pm
• Closed Wednesday mornings for the papal audience

St. Peter’s Dome Climb Hours:

• From April to September: 7:30 am to 5 pm
• From October to March: 7:30 am to 5 pm

St Peter’s Basilica Tickets:

The Basilica of St. Peter is free to enter but does not include entry into the Sistine Chapel.

Climbing the dome costs €8 if you take the stairs or €10 by elevator. We recommend taking the elevator. Find out everything you need to know about how to climb St. Peter’s Dome .

St. Peter’s Dress Code:

To gain access, you’ll have to abide by the Vatican dress code. Cover your shoulders and avoid shorts, short dresses, and skirts. We know that Rome gets hot in the summer, so we suggest bringing a light scarf to wrap around yourself when you need to.

Hats, food, and metal tools like knives and scissors are also not allowed. The security check includes metal detectors.

Visiting the Vatican with kids:

If you want to visit the Vatican Museums with your kids, you’re in luck. The museums are happy to welcome families with children and strollers in tow.

As you explore the collections, there are also plenty of restrooms with changing tables and places to sit and rest. There’s even a private room for mothers to nurse in complete privacy. How Long To Spend at St. Peter’s Basilica

Short Answer: 1-2 hours

Even if you’re not a religious person, once you walk inside the basilica, there’s a strong chance your jaw will drop just for a second. Yes, it is that amazing inside—even more so when you understand the dimensions.

The church is built so proportionally that you would never guess the ceiling right above you is 150 feet (50 meters) high. The itinerary is quite easy to follow since they put a barrier in the middle for crowd control. Start your itinerary in a counter-clockwise walk around the entire basilica.

How To Get To Vatican City

Luckily, St. Peter’s Basilica is really easy to reach. It’s located in Piazza San Pietro of Vatican City. Depending on your preferences, you can take the metro, a bus, a cab, or just walk.

How To Take the Metro To the Vatican

About 20 minutes

The closest metro stop to St. Peter’s Basilica is Ottaviano. It is located on the A-line (orange line). So, if you jump on near the Spanish Steps (Spagna) or Termini Train Station, make sure you catch the A-line going towards Battistini and get off at Ottaviano.

The entrance to St. Peter’s Basilica is a five-minute walk from the stop. Of course, you can also catch the A-line from many other stops, just check the Rome Metro schedule. You can buy tickets at the metro station or a corner store, but not from the driver.

Pro Tip:  Always budget an extra 10 to 20 minutes if you have a scheduled event like a Vatican Tour . This way you don’t have to rush and it gives you time for that quintessential morning espresso.  

How To Take the Bus To the Vatican

From Termini train station, head outside and get on bus number 64.

The bus ride will take about 20 minutes and your stop is the last one on the route: P.za Stazione S. Pietro. Getting to St. Peter’s Basilica is about a five-minute walk from the bus station.

You can also take the number 81 bus from the Colosseum area (the bus stop is located right outside of the metro station, B-line). The 81 bus route ends in Piazza Risorgimento, which is a five-minute walk to St. Peter’s Basilica.

How To Take a Taxi To the Vatican

Depends on the leaving point

 A taxi ride should cost no more than €20 if you’re staying in the historic center of Rome. When you get in, tell the driver to take you to St. Peter’s Basilica.

The most typical way to get a taxi in Rome is to go to a taxi stand. These are located near every major tourist attraction. If you aren’t located near one, you can always order a coffee and pastry at a café and ask the people working there to call you one.

Walking To the Vatican

You can walk if you’re staying near Piazza Navona or in Campo de’ Fiori and the weather’s right. Prati is also within walking distance to the Vatican.

You can walk to St. Peter’s Basilica from basically anywhere in Rome, as long as you’re up for quite a bit of exercise prior to being on your feet for more than 3 hours—it can be very exhausting. We recommend taking public transport. You’ll be on your feet plenty in Rome!

Pro Tip:  A neat trick for using your phone map is to set your course when you are in wifi on airplane mode. GPS will still show your location while on airplane mode. It won’t reroute you, but it will show you where you are. It’s the most useful way to get directions when traveling.

St. Peter’s Facts and History

St. Peter found himself in Rome during the reign of Emperor Nero in A.D. 64 after the death of Christ. It was not a very convenient time, considering that the emperor had just faulted the Christians for a fire that destroyed half the city.

The Christians were perceived as a radical cult, so they were an easy scapegoat for an emperor with no conscience. He initiated the persecution of Christians and according to dogma, this persecution was responsible for martyring St.Peter, St. Paul, and countless other Christians.

Peter attempted to flee Rome since he knew his days were numbered, but Christ appeared to him and asked him to return to the city to meet his fate. As dogma goes, St. Peter was crucified upside down by Emperor Nero and buried in A.D. 64. This was all part of Nero’s plot to blame Christians for his great fire, a plot that was semi-successful.

When Christ first met Peter he said, “You are the rock upon which I will build my Church.” His name wasn’t even Peter at the time, it was Simon. Jesus changed his name to Peter, which means rock.

Constantine’s Church

Constantine defeated Maxentius in A.D. 312 and legalized Christianity. He then took it upon himself to fulfill the literal version of the scriptures above and he built a church on top of St. Peter’s tomb. Constantine’s mom, St. Helen, was a devout Christian and this was likely a big deal for her. It’s not every day that your son fulfills the scriptures, right?

The early beginnings of the establishment of the Vatican began with Constantine’s St. Peter’s Basilica, which stood where the current basilica stands today. After Constantine legalized Christianity in A.D. 313 with the Edict of Milan, he quickly got started building the church Jesus had referred to. For Constantine, Jesus would have been as old as George Washington is in relative history to us.

The original basilica Constantine built lasted from the mid-fourth century A.D. (the 300s) until 1506. That’s a very long time. The current basilica was built over Constantine’s and, while it does not exist today in full form, the current basilica still uses foundational elements from the original structure. That means the foundation is nearly 1700 years old!

Current Church

Pope Julius II decided it was time for a new basilica when he appointed Donato Bramante to design the current St. Peter’s Basilica. Bramante’s designs were later taken over by Raphael ( the Raphael) a few years later. The current basilica involved every famous name in Italian art from Michelangelo to the Modernos father and son and Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

It took 120 years to build St. Peter’s Basilica, which is pretty impressive considering the magnitude of the structure. There were many works that went on even after that timeline. The last fountain, built by Bernini, was not finished until 1675!

Where To Eat Nearby

As you can imagine, there is nowhere to eat inside the church itself. However, if you climb the dome you will find a small bar. Also, close by there are some great lunch places. Check out our comprehensive guide to the top places to eat near the Vatican for more options. Here are few quick picks:

St. Peter’s Dome Bar: €€ | Refreshments —Yep, you can get coffee on top of St. Peter’s Dome. There is a little bar open basically whenever they want to be open. But if it’s open, stop for a coffee and enjoy the view.

Near The Vatican:

Hostaria Dino e Toni : € | Roman Restaurant —Somehow this owner-operated and authentic Roman restaurant has yet to get touristy. They make good food with relatively friendly service, and they may just order for you. Come here for pizza, pasta, and apps.

200 Gradi : €€ | Sandwich Shop —Have a big day of sightseeing planned after your Vatican visit? This sandwich shop is perfect. You can get really tasty to-go sandwiches or sit down inside. Super reasonably priced.

La Zanzara : €€ | Bistro —A bit more cool and trendy with a modern spin on Italian classics, this place feels like a French bistro but the food is definitely Italian. It’s great for a cocktail and sit-down lunch.

Why consider Basilicata? If you've already pushed through the crowds in Rome, Venice and Florence and stumbled along the deteriorating trails of the Cinque Terre you might be ready for an expansion of your definition of Italy. Are you ready for something completely different? Is it time to push into the shadows and visit Basilicata?

Yes, the picture above depicts the camelion cornerstone of Basilicata, everybody's favorite cave city Matera . Once a hardscrabble depression in the earth pockmarked with dwellings painstakingly chiseled out of soft rock where people lived under appaulling conditions of poverty and starvation, the town has now become a sought-out experience for folks with ample disposable income and a romantic notion of the joys of living underground.

But Basilicata isn't only about older travelers living out their romantic impulses in cave dwellings. Imagine, if you will, being strapped into a four-seat glider attached to a 1200 meter steel cable and launched in a free fall back down into the wilds of Pollino National Park, shown on the map below. You and three strangers could fly like the park's famed golden eagles looking for field mice to eat. Imagine! In fact, the attraction is called: Flight of the Eagle .

But let's start perusing the map before your tummy gets all queasy on you.

Getting Your Bearings

Basilicata forms the "instep" of Italy's boot. The region has access to two seas, a slice of the Tyrrhenian on the west coast, and a more extensive shorline on the Ionian Sea, where ancient Greeks set up shop which you can witness by visiting the Greek city of Metaponto.

Basilicata borders the regions of Calabria and Campania on the west and Puglia on the east.

Top Towns to Visit in Basilicata

Montescaglioso is a hill town that was the center of the Norman Kingdom of Sicily. The top sight is Montescaglioso's  11-15th century Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo. In August the Festa di San Rocco is a colorful local festival with religious parade and fireworks.

Bernalda , made famous by Francis Ford Coppola, who built the luxury Palazzo Margherita hotel here, is a lively town with a small historic center, castle, and long main street with many good restaurants, bars, and shops. It makes an excellent base for visiting Matera, Craco, Metaponto, and the coast. Bernalda and Metaponto Greek Temples

• Where to Stay if you can't afford the Palazzo Margherita: Giardino Giamperduto Country House . We had a great stay here.

Craco is one of Italy's top ghost towns. Once a thriving hill town, it was mostly abandoned following a mudslide. Go to the visitor center for a fascinating and eerie guided tour (available in English). Craco Photos and Visiting Information

Metaponto is a famous Greek settlement on the Ionian coast formerly called Metapontum. Archaeology buffs should visit the Museo Archeologico Nazionale and the ruins outside town that include a Greek temple. Metaponto also has a fine, white sand beach.

Policoro offers the Lido di Policoro, a famous beach, and the ruins of the Greek settlement of Heraclea on the outskirts of town.

Stigliano is a good place to start your exploration of the Basilicata mountains.

Aliano was the town where Carlo Levi was exiled. You can visit his house and see the stunning landscape he wrote about in his book Christ stopped at Eboli , which includes an awe-inspiring drop into a valley that farmers and shepherds had to navigate every day.

Melfi was a Roman, then a Longobard city which later became a Norman city. There is a Norman castle to visit and a baroque cathedral and Bishop's palace , Palazzo del Vescovado . Inside the Castle is the Museo Nazionale Archeologico Melfese , a good archaeology museum with many important collections of materials from the surrounding area. Melfi is on the rail line.

Venosa was once a Roman town called Venusia. The poet Horace was born here in 65 BC. Venosa has a 15th century Aragonese castle, a Baroque Church of the Purgatory, and the Palaeolithic period is represented by the Archaeological Area of Notarchirico , in which a Homo Erectus femur fragment was found.

Rionero in Vulture has been in existence since at least 290 BC, and was seized by the Normans around 1041. The towns in the Vulture area sit in the shadow of Monte Vulture, an extinct volcano which provides the fertile soil in the area. Aglianico del Vulture is a famous DOC wine from the area.

Potenza is a modern city that suffered much destruction from bombings in World War II and earthquakes as late as 1980 . Only 1 tower of the castle still stands and the old cathedral was restored in the 18th century. A 17th century mansion, Palazzo Loffredo, houses the archaeological museum and there are remains of a Roman villa.

Many publications will tell you to skip Potenza, But a very recent one, Karen Haid's Basilicata: Authentic Italy, start right off with a vibrant description of Potenza today, rather than tourist favorite Matera. 

Right around the corner from the cathedral is a museum not to be missed. Most people pass through Potenza with a brief stroll in the old town, a quick pop into the church or bar and go on their way, which is unfortunate, but the upside for my visit was that I had the place to myself. The Museo archaeologico nazionale della Basilicata "Dinu Adamsteanu" is housed in the early 16th century Palazzo Loffredo, one of the few patrician houses that have survived the area's many earthquakes... - Basilicata: Authentic Italy

Maratea Vertically

If you look at the map you'll find a bit of Basilicata on the Ionian Sea. It's home to the resort town of Maratea. Heading uphill, away from the coastal resorts, you can drive up a mountain which ultimately leads to the statue of Christ the Redeemer--and some very nice views of the coastline. There are interesting places along the drive, startin at the Santavenere Hotel, a very nice place to stay that's quite expensive in August but has nicely reduced prices in the shoulder season.

The Santavenere is a five star luxury hotel, and it will cost you an arm and a leg in summer, but go in fall as we did, when the price has plummeted, and you can get a taste of what the 1% get to go thorough. You can even work out on the hillside with a view of the sea! The private beach will astound you with its beauty. The emphasis here is service, so ask and it's likely you shall receive.

Just up the hill from the luxury playground of the Maratea coast is a thriving agricultural community tucked into a verdant valley. You will find renowned Buffalo Mozzarella, fantastic Salami and at certain time of the year Jiló or Gilo, a bitter scarlet eggplant that came to this corner of Italy via immigrants returning from Brazil.

How to get access since there are no stores? Knock any door and ask who has the best cheese or salami. They'll know. That's how the Italians do it. Then head up the hill to the town of Maratea, the Pearl of the Tyrrhenian .

The Statue of Christ the Redeemer

On the summit of Monte San Biagio you'll find the statue crafted by Florentine sculptor Bruno Innocenzi in 1965. But that's not all. You'll also see the Basilica of San Biagio . Its been a Basilica Pontificia since the tenth of August 1940 when pope Pio XII declared the title of Basilica minore upon the sanctuary, as evidenced by the yellow flag on the left side of the facade. Inside a white marble urn are relics of the Patron saint of Maratea. La festa di S. Biagio a Maratea falls on the first Thursday of May. The saint is paraded from the church down to the town.

The Food and Wine of Basilicata

You'll find some dishes in Basilicata spicier than in the north. The town of Senise near Policoro lends its name to the local spicy pepper.

The meat specialties of Basilicata include lucanica sausages. Apicius describes it as a spicy, smoked beef or pork sausage originally from Lucania, the ancient name for a region nearly mirroring the modern Basilicata.

Chestnuts designated "Marroncino IGP are among Italy's most revered. You'll find them around Melfi.

Basilicata has been a poor region for a great long while. The good thing is that you can still get the cucina povera, albeit in larger portion sizes, in restaurants like the Trattoria la Locandiera in Bernalda you can feast on the traditional specialties. Meatballs without meat? check. Pasta with breadcrumbs and peppers to die for? Check (and see below).

Unfortunately, the Locanderia is said to have closed , but plans are in place that include cooking lessons featuring the dishes served in the restaurant.

Of course you'll be looking for a wine to drink with all this, and the northern part of the region is known for Aglianico del Vulture , which was awarded DOCG status in 2011. You'll also find DOC wines Grottino di Rocanova, Matera and Terre dell’Alta d’Agri.

The closest airport to Basilicata is in neighboring Calabria : Lamezia Terme Airport (SUF) .

When to Go to Basilicata

Spring or fall is best, especially if you're pinching pennies on your resort expenditures. Our fall trip offered good weather.

Ziua 1 (640 km):  Plecare din Bucuresti la ora 06.30 de la baza Dealului Patriarhiei (crucea Sf. Constantin Brancoveanu) pe ruta Ruse – Veliko-Tarnovo, capitala celui de al doilea Imperiu Bulgar – trecere prin Valea Trandafirilor – Capitan Andreevo (Bulgaria) – Kapikule (Turcia) – Edirne (fostul oraş Adrianopol, întemeiat de împăratul roman Hardrian. A fost capitala Imperiului Otoman între 1365 – 1453. Aici s-a încheiat Pacea de la Adrianopol, tratatul ruso-turc din anul 1829 prin care s-a recunoscut independența Greciei, autonomia Serbiei și s-a desființat monopolul turcesc asupra comerțului Ţării Româneşti și Moldovei) – tur panoramic Podul Tunca şi Moscheea Selimiye Cami ( construită între anii 1569 – 1575 de către arhitectul Mimar Sinan la cerinţa sultanului Selim II, este cea mai mare moschee din Turcia) – Canakkale . Cazare Canakkale.

Ziua 2 (430 km):   Mic dejun. Plecare către   Kusadasi . Se vizitează  ruinele vechilor cetăti Troia I – IX ( primul oraș a fost fondat în mileniul III î.Hr. în timpul Epocii Bronzului . Se păstrază inclusiv ruine din Troia VII, cea descrisa de Homer. Ultimul oraș de pe acest sit arheologic a fost Iliumul elenistic, fondat de romani în timpul domniei împăratului Augustus , care a decăzut după desemnarea Constantinopolului drept capitală a Imperiului Roman în sec.IV ) , cetatea antică   Pergam ( oraș antic grecesc , devenit capitala Regatului Pergam în timpul perioadei elenistice 281- 133 î.Hr. Pergamul este amintit în cartea Apocalipsei . Aici a fost inventat pergamentul , a cărui denumire provine de la numele orașului) şi Biserica Apocaliptica Curtea Roşie (aici a fost iniţial un templu păgân. În anul 92 d.Hr., în acest templu a a fost martirizat Sfântul Antipa, primul arhiepiscop al Pergamului, numit din porunca Sfântului Ioan. În primul secol d.Hr., biserica creștină din Pergam, adăpostită în interiorul clădirii principale a Basilicii Roșii, a fost una dintre Cele Șapte Biserici descrise în Apocalipsa 2:12 ) . Trecere prin   Izmir ( vechea Smyrna , cetatea păstorită de Sfântul Policarp, oraş fondat în sec. IV î.Hr., cetatea păstorită de Sfântul Policarp. Este al treilea oraș ca mărime în Turcia după Istanbul și Ankara . Aici s-au născut Homer și Aristotel Onassis ) . Cazare şi cină Kusadasi / Izmir.

Ziua 3 (70 km):   Mic dejun. Se vizitează   Cetatea Efes (oraşul antic Efes a fost întemeiat în sec.XI Î.Hr. de coloniştii ionieni, devenind în cursul timpului unul din cele mai dezvoltate centre religioase și comerciale . A suferit pierderi însemnate la cutremurele din anii 358 și 365 d.Hr., iar în sec. VII a început să decadă. Astăzi se pot vedea ruinele Bibliotecii lui Celsus , marelui teatru în care a predicat Sfântul Apostol Pavel, Biserica Maicii Domnului – în care s-a ţinut Sinodul III Ecumenic in anul 431). Deplasare la Casa și Izvoarele Maicii Domnului ( c onform tradiţiei creştine, Maica Domnului a fost adusă în Efes de către Sfântul Apostol Ioan Evanghelistul, la scurt timp după Învierea din morţi a Mântuitorului, aici urmând a locui până la Adormirea ei. Biserica datează din sec.VI-VII, dar fundaţiile casei au o origine mult mai veche – posibilitatea ca acestea să aparţină sec. I fiind foarte mare. Astăzi este biserică romano-catolică ). Închinare la mormântul Sfântului Ioan Evanghelistul (r uinele impresionantei biserici bizantine din Efes închinate Sfântului Ioan Teologul, marchează locul unde, potrivit traditiei, acesta ar fi fost înmormântat . Iniţial, în sec. IV-V a fost ridicată o biserică, pe locul mormântului Sfantului Ioan Teologul, apoi în sec. VI imparatul Iustinian a ridicat o biserică impunătoare pe locul celei vechi). Deplasare la coloanele Templului zeiţei Artemis (una dintre cele 7 minuni ale lumii, templu construit în sec. VI î.Hr, a fost incendiat în anul 356 î.Hr., de un cetățean din Efes cu numele de Herostrat, din dorința de a deveni celebru ). Cazare şi cină Kuşadasi / Pamukkale.

Ziua 4 (185 km):   Mic dejun. Plecare spre Pamukkale (se traduce prin ‘’Castelul de bumbac’’ datorită teraselor calcaroase făcute din travertin, rocă sedimentară care s-a format de-a lungul a mii de ani prin depunerile de carbonat de calciu din apa celor 17 izvoare existente în zonă) . În Pamukkale s e vizitează Necropola si Cetatea Hierapolis (anticul oraş grecesc Ierapolis – Oraşul Sfânt, ridicat în regiunea izvoarelor cu apă caldă în vechea Frigia, se va urca la Biserica ridicată pe locul unde Sfântul Apostol Filip a fost martirizat, dar şi presupusul mormânt al Apostolului, nou descoperit de arheologii turci (se află pe culmea unui deal, în afara zidurilor cetăţii. Biserica datează din sec. V. Se crede că mormântul Sfântului Apostol Filip este în centrul clădirii. Acest locul a fost incendiat, cândva intre secolele V-VI, de aceea a ramas multă vreme necunoscut ). Se va coborî pe terasele calcaroase cu apă termală (fenomen unic în lume, coborârea nu este periculoasă însă va necesita atenție!). Cazare şi cină în Pamukkale.

Ziua 5 (660 km):     Mic dejun. Plecare spre   Cappadocia ( se află în estul Anatoliei, în centrul Turciei. Relieful constă dintr-un platou înalt de peste 1000 m altitudine, care este străpuns de vârfuri vulcanice dintre care Muntele Erciyes, în apropiere de Kayseri (vechea Cezaree), este cel mai înalt vârf cu altitudinea de 3916 m. Cappadocia a fost cunoscută sub numele de Hatti în epoca bronzului târziu și a fost patria Imperiului Hitit cu capitala la Hattuşa) pe ruta   Pamukkale – Denizli ( oraş industrial în sud-vestul Turciei, situat în valea formată de aluviunile aduse de râul Buyuk Menderes) – Konya (cea mai mare regiune din Turcia, oraş cunoscut în vechime ca Iconium , pe aici au trecut Sfinţii Apostoli Pavel şi Barnabas şi au propovăduit credinţa creştină ) – Aksaray – Nevsehir – Urgup / Ortahisar . Cazare şi cină Urgup / Ortahisar.

Ziua 6 (80 km):   Mic dejun. Se vizitează: Muzeul în aer liber Goreme (muzeu în aer liber care adăposteşte manăstiri şi biserici paleocreştine săpate în tuf vulcanic, chilia în care a locuit Sfântul Vasile Cel Mare. Face parte din patrimoniul Unesco. Primele aşezări datează din vremea hitiţilor, 1800 – 1200 î.Hr. Regiunea a fost disputată de diferite imperii rivale, cum ar fi grecii şi perşii, locuitorii fiind nevoiţi să sape adăposturi în roca vulcanică. În perioada romană, a devenit casă pentru creştinii prigoniţi), oraşul subteran Kaymakli ( oraşul a fost populat în perioada bizantină , a servit ca adăpost în vreme invaziilor arabe (780 – 1180) şi mongole (sec. XIV). Se coboară pe galeriile oraşului la o adâncime de cca. 20 m. Vizitare nu este periculoasă însă necesită atenţie!), panorama Văii Gyuvercinlik (Valea Porumbeilor) şi Uchisar, Chilia Sfântului Simeon Stâlpnicul , vizitarea unui atelier de ceramică situat sub pamânt şi care se întinde pe o suprafaţă de 4000 m.p. Vizită la ieslea unde a vieţuit şi s-a nevoit Sfântul Ioan Rusu . Cazare şi cină Urgup / Ortahisar.

Ziua 7 (750 km):     Mic dejun. Plecare spre   Istanbul   ( numit în antichitatea Byzantion , apoi, după anul 330 d.Hr., Constantinopol , a fost capitală a Imperiului Roman până în 1453 și a Imperiului Otoman până la proclamarea Republicii Turcia , la 13 octombrie 1923. Oficial a primit denumirea turcă de Istanbul la 28 martie 1930, până atunci păstrându-și pe plan internațional numele antic și tradițional de Constantinopol . Istanbul este cel mai mare oraş al Turciei și singurul din lume întins pe două continente. În vechile texte românești, orașul era numit Țarigrad , Stanbul sau Înalta Poartă ) pe traseul   Aksaray (important punct în antichitate pe Drumul Mătăsii, oraşul a mai prosperat în timpul Imperiului Otoman, datorită vecinătăţii cu Lacul Tuz, cea mai importantă sursă de sare a Anatoliei) – Ankara ( cunoscută sub numele de Angora până în anul 1930 și Ancyra în perioada clasică, este capitala Turciei și al doilea cel mai mare oraș al țării, după Istanbul) – Istanbul . Cazare Istanbul.

Ziua 8:     Mic dejun. Tur pietonal – se vizitează: Catedrala Sfânta Sofia ( prima biserică de pe acest loc a fost construită de Constantin cel Mare în anul 325, dar a ars într-un incediu în anul 404. A fost reconstruită de Teodosius II în anul 415, dar a fost din nou distrusă în timpul Răscolei Nika din anul 532. Clădirea actuală a fost construită de împăratul Iustinian între anii 532-537), Palatul Topkapi (reşedinţa sultanilor, actualul Muzeu Naţional al Turciei , care  adăposteşte exponate unice: mâna dreaptă a Sfântului Ioan Botezatorul, sabia lui Ştefan cel Mare), Moscheea Albastră (a fost construită între anii 1609 – 1616 în timpul domniei sultanului Ahmed I, este cea mai mare moschee din Istanbul) , Basilica Cisterne (cunoscută şi ca ‘Palatul scufundat’, datează din sec. VI, a fost construită ca cisternă de apă pentru a alimenta palatul imperial şi clădirile înconjurătoare), locul fostului Hipodrom, unde acum se află: Fântâna lui Wilhem II ( numită și Fântâna germană , construită în memoria celei de a doua vizite a împăratului german la Constantinopol și inauguarată la aniversarea sa din 27 ianuarie 1901) , Obeliscul Egiptean (a fost adus din Valea Nilului de împăratul Theodosius II, datează din anul 1490 î.Hr. din vremea faraonului Tuthmosis III) , Coloana Şerpuită ( este din bronz, a stat în fața Templului lui Apollo de la Delphi – Grecia. A fost ridicată în memoria bătăliei de la Plateea din anul 479 î.Hr., în care cetățile grecești aliate i-au învins pe perşii conduşi de regel Xerxes I. În anul 326, împăratul Constantin cel Mare a dispus mutarea ei la viitorul Constantinopol) , Coloana lui Constantin Porfirogenetul (seamănă cu un obelisc, doar că este făcută din mai multe blocuri de piatră . Unele mărturii afirmă că pe același loc a existat o astfel de coloană încă din sec. IV. Constantin al VII Porfirogenetul în anul 940 a acoperit coloana cu plăci de bronz aurit) . Scurt popas în istoricul Bazar al lui Bayazid . Cazare Istanbul.

Ziua 9:   Mic dejun. Închinare în Mănăstirea Izvorul Tămăduirii ( prima biserica a fost construită de împaratul Leon I Tracul, datorită unei minuni pe care a trait-o când era soldat – inainte de a intra în cetate, Leon Marcelus a întâlnit un orb care l-a rugat să-i dea apă de băut şi să-l îndrume spre cetate. Atunci, un glas de femeie i-a poruncit să caute în apropiere, unde se afla un izvor, şi să ude ochii orbului cu apa curată. Făcând astfel, orbul a deschis ochii şi a început să-L slăveasca pe Dumnezeu. Apoi, acelaşi glas i-ar fi zis lui Leon că va moşteni tronul împărătesc. După ce a fost uns împărat, Leon a construit o biserică închinată Maicii Domnului, pe locul acelui izvor ) . Biserica Românească cu hramul Sfânta Muceniţă Paraschevi, Sfinţii Martiri Brâncoveni şi Sfânta Arghira   (ctitorie a Sfântului Constantin Brâncoveanu, închinare la moaştele Sfintei Arghira şi Sfântul Nifon Patriarhul Constantinopolului).   Patriarhia Ecumenică ( în mod simbolic cea mai înaltă autoritate canonică a lumii cre ştin-ortodoxe. Închinare la moaştele Sfântului Grigorie Teologul, Sfântului Ioan Gura de Aur, Sfintei Solomoni, Sfintei Eufimia si Sfintei Teofana . Tot aici este “Coloana Flagelării”, o bucata din coloana de care a fost legat Iisus Hristos când soldaţii romani l-au biciuit şi l-au torturat. Alte două bucăţi din această coloană se află în Ierusalim şi în Roma. Se crede ca aceasta a fost adusă aici de către Sfânta Elena după pelerinajul făcut în Ţara Sfântă) , Biserica Vlaherne (loc unde Maica Domnului s-a arătat mulţimii strânse în vremea împăratului Leon cel Înţelep, când oraşul era asediat şi a lăsat asupra lor Acoperămânul ) . Opţional croazieră pe Bosfor în care se pot vedea diverse obiective aflate pe malul European sau Asiatic. Cazare Istanbul.

Ziua 10 (685 km):   Mic dejun. Plecare spre România, oprire în Epivata (locul de nastere al Sf. Cuv. Parascheva, actualul oras Selimpasa). Sosire in Bucuresti în funcţie de traficul auto și formalităţile vam ale.

– SUMA INTEGRALA pentru rezervări efectuate cu mai puțin de 30 zile înainte de data plecării.

ACTE NECESARE:   paşaport valabil 6 luni de la data întoarcerii în ţară. 

CONDIȚII DE RETRAGERE:

a.) 30% din preţul pachetului de servicii, dacă renunţarea se face cu mai mult de 30 zile calendaristice înainte de data plecării ;

b.) 50% din preţul pachetului de servicii, dacă renunţarea se face in intervalul 29-20 de zile calendaristice înainte de data plecării;

c.) 100 % din preţul pachetului de servicii, dacă renunţarea se face într-un interval mai mic de 19 zile înainte de plecare sau pentru neprezentarea la program.

Aceste penalizari se aplica in toate cazurile, cu exceptia celor in care programul valorificat / confirmat are propriile reguli de achitare, anulare, penalizare. In acest caz se aplica regulile speciale ale fiecarui program in parte.

–   Autoritătile vamale isi rezervă dreptul de a refuza intrarea pe teritoriul statului a oricarei persoane care nu prezintă suficientă incredere chiar dacă aceasta a obtinut acordul pentru obtinerea vizei turistice. Agentia de turism nu poate fi facută răspunzatoare pentru astfel de situatii ce nu pot fi depistate anterior plecării. Turistul isi asumă riscurile de a-i fi refuzată intrarea si de aceea este obligat să informeze agentia asupra oricarui incident petrecut vreodată in afara granitelor României, precum si asupra oricarei tangente pe care o are cu statele in care are loc desfasurarea pelerinajului.

–   Minorii trebuie să îndeplinească următoarele condiţii pentru a fi lăsaţi să iasă din ţară: să călătorească cu cel puţin un adult însoţitor; să aibă asupra lor acordul ambilor părinţi (sau al părintelui care nu-i însoţeşte) legalizat la notariat; adultul care-i însoţeste, în cazul în care acesta nu este unul dintre părinţi, trebuie să aibă cazier judiciar pe care să-l prezinte la frontieră).

– În cazul în care autoritățile locale solicită prezentarea unui rezultat negativ al unui test PCR / dovadă vaccin sau solicită la intrarea în țară efectuarea unui test/ vaccin, agenția de turism nu include eventualele costuri în contravaloarea pelerinajului si nici nu este răspunzătoare pentru un eventual rezultat pozitiv și interzicerea intrării în țară. De asemenea agenția nu este răspunzătoare pentru refuzul turistului de a fi testat / vaccinat.

–   Programul actiunii poate fi modificat de către conducatorul de grup, ca ordine de desfăşurare sau se pot înlocui unele obiective sau hoteluri in functie de anumite situatii speciale.

–  Categoria hotelurilor este cea oficială pentru Turcia.

–   Așezarea in autocar se face incepand cu bancheta a doua, in functie de data achitarii avansului si semnarii (intocmirii) contractului.

– Distributia camerelor la hotel se face de catre receptia acestuia; problemele legate de amplasarea sau aspectul camerei se rezolva de catre turist direct la receptie, asistat de insotitorul de grup.

– Pentru anumite facilitati din hotel sau din camera, hotelierul poate solicita taxe suplimentare (minibar/frigider, seif etc.); in momentul sosirii la hotel solicitati receptionerului sa va informeze cu exactitate asupra lor.

– Agentia nu se obliga sa gaseasca partaj persoanelor care calatoresc singure.

Prezentul document constituie anexa la contractul de prestari servicii.
