Based in Falmouth, Cape Cod, we are just minutes from the rich fishing grounds of Vineyard and Nantucket Sound. 

We offer a range of fishing charters for both the novice and experienced; from porgy to sea bass , fluke , tautog , squid , striped bass or bluefish , we can customize a trip to your needs. 

Standard trip options range from two (2) to eight (8) hours in duration.  All levels of experience welcome, including families and children!  All private charters have a 6-passenger maximum.

Captain Jim has successfully helped many patrons land memorable catches that qualify for saltwater derby fish pins. The many species are Striped Bass, Seabass, Tautog, Fluke, Porgies, and Bluefish. This is a program that the State of Massachusetts runs every year.  Saltwater Fishing Derby , The Captain and crew look forward to helping our patrons try to achieve a memorable catch that qualifies. In 2015 we helped a young man from New York state land a bluefish that was the largest in the junior division that year.

Fishing and sightseeing on the majestic waters of Cape Cod are available. Some of the species we commonly fish for are striped bass(aka stripers), bluefish, and tuna. The bottom species are:

• Black seabass.
• Fluke (the captain's favorite).
• Porgy (aka scup).
• Early-season squid.

We fish offshore for tuna and sharks. These trips require advanced planning.

Captain Greg is a Falmouth resident who grew up spending his summers on the waters of Falmouth, the Vineyard, and Nantucket Sound. Greg is an avid boater and experienced fisherman who is familiar with the local waters and fishing “hot spots.” When he was a teenager, Greg worked as a deckhand on the charter boats "High Hopes" and "Double Eagle" from Falmouth Harbor. He also spent two years at the United States Coast Guard Academy, before graduating from Assumption College in 2002 with a dual major in economics and psychology. Greg is experienced working with children; he enjoys coaching youth basketball, introducing children to the marine environment, and has worked as a therapeutic mentor for at-risk youth at both Child & Family Services and Family Continuity in Hyannis, MA. A trip with Captain Greg is sure to be a memorable one; whether you're an experienced East Coast angler or a first-timer, you'll have a blast aboard his beautiful 1967 Mackenzie Cuttyhunk.

THE FISH BANDIT

Fish bandit® is a 2022 255 dv steiger craft powered with 300 h.p. v8 mercury outboard motor. the boat is equipped  with state of the art electronics by simrad, including, radar, depthfinder, g.p.s. and fish finder. .

Important Information:

$100 Deposit is required to secure your date.

NO SMOKING VESSEL.

What to bring:  Sunscreen, (non-aerosol), Cooler for fillets w ice, Beverages, if adult beverages please limit the number as intoxication is not allowed and the boat will immediately return to the dock if warranted. Non-markable closed-toe footwear, food, and water, Sunglasses, Clothing appropriate for the weather (usually cooler on the water).

Is there any medical concerns regarding any of the passengers i.e.; allergies (food, bees, nuts, etc), medical issues (previous heart attacks, stroke, or physical restrictions), epi-pen use, or asthma conditions the Captain should be aware of ?

Fish Limits per person:   Scup, 30 or 40 Fish per person limit of 10-1/2″,  Sea Bass  4 Fish per person limit of 16-1/2″, Bluefish limit of 5 per person no size restriction, Striped Bass, 1 Fish per person between 28″ & less than 31″ new in 2023. Fluke 5 fish per person limit of 16-1/2". All fish above limited to the season as stated in the regulations.

At Obsession Sportfishing we have a unique mission: We want all of our guests to have a fun & safe fishing adventure that they will remember for years to come. We feel there are 3 simple ingredients to achieve this:

• Having safe, dry, reliable boats with modern safety equipment.
• Having knowledgeable captains that know how to consistently raise fish. Captain Luke Cantella is a 100 ton USCG licensed Master Captain with over 25 years of experience fishing the waters off Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and offshore in the Northeast Canyons. Captain Luke is also a top tier tournament fisherman that has consistently placed in the money in tournaments such the Oak Bluffs Monster Shark Tournament, the Cape Cod Cup, & the American Striper Association.
• Have you ever booked a trip to have a captain yell at you for losing a fish, or not paying attention? What fun is that? We pride ourselves on teaching our customers the proper techniques to many of the different ways to catch our prey. This is all done a calm consultative manner. 

 Our main boat is a 32 Blackfin Combi which is known through-out the fishing world as one of the best 32 foot hulls ever made. Our boat has 2 brand new Cummins 370HP Diesel engines so she’s fast too! 

 Our other boat is a custom fully restored 23 foot inboard SeaCraft Center Console. Like the Blackfin, the SeaCraft has set the standard in its size category for superior sea keeping abilities. 

• ​Our typical inshore trips range from 4-8 hours, however custom trips can be made available upon request.
• All  top end rods, reels, and tackle are provided.
• What you need:  Basically the necessities to keep you comfortable for a day on the water. We suggest things like sunglasses, sun tan lotion, a jacket, and food & drinks.
• We offer a variety of fishing tactics like trolling, casting, or drifting live baits.
• If you are on Martha’s Vineyard we can pick you up in Oak Bluffs.
• Kids are Welcome!  We just need to know the ages to ensure we have the proper life jackets for each child.  Anyone under the age of 13 is required by the USCG to wear a life jacket at all times.
• A mate is provided to ensure your fishing time on the water is productive as possible. This means checking lines for weeds, changing out baits, letting lines out for you, switching lures quickly etc…They are also there to instruct you when needed, help provide questions you may have, and help you enjoy your trip.  (Mates are paid much like a waitress and are paid on tips by their level of service.) 
• At the end of each trip all fish are filleted and stored into zip lock bags for your travel home.  Don’t forget to bring a cooler!

Inshore fishing trips  

Our most popular fishing trips are for trophy Striped Bass, but we also target Bluefish, False Albacore and Bonita. We do bottom fishing for Black Seabass, Fluke, and scup as well. We customize our trips so don't worry you can catch a mix of species. 

Offshore tuna & shark trips

 We offer full day giant bluefin trips where a fish of a lifetime can be caught. Bluefin tuna in our waters can reach sizes in access of 1000 pounds. We also offer South  of Martha's Vineyard offshore trips where you can catch sharks & smaller size tuna on stand up gear as well.

My name is Captain Eric Stapelfeld , and I have been fishing off Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard for over 26 years. My Cape Cod fishing charter boat, Hairball Charters, leaves Falmouth Harbor daily from May through October.

Deposits are required for booking Deposits are refundable up until two weeks before the trip. Any trips cancelled due to weather will be refunded. The weather in New England is extremely variable and the Captain makes the final decision on the weather.

Customized Trips

Aside from the standard fishing trips we can customize trips. We offer a variety of other specialty trips, multi day trips and tournaments, Nantucket offshore fluke, offshore winter blackfish, Block Island trophy striped bass, meat lovers marathon 16 hour trip 1/2 cod haddock pollack 1/2 fluke sea bass, whale watching, kids and family outings , bachelor and bachelorette parties as well as memorial services- blue burial at sea or spreading ashes.
