Experience Egypt & Jordan – 5* Cruise Tour

  • River Cruise

Experience Egypt & Jordan – 5* Cruise

This was an amazing tour, from beggining to end. When it comes to organization, we were shocked on how well organized this tour is. Since we landed in Cairo, until we left in Amman, we always had someone with us, and we were informed at all times about what exactly was going to happen. They picked us up as soon as we got out of the gate in Cairo and Amman, drove us to our Hotel, where we met our group, and were given an explanation on the tour, and what the days would look like. Everyday we had an overview of the next day, and a breakdown of the times. We always had security with us plus our guide and a driver. Everything felt well organized, smooth and safe. Egypt was excellent. Our guide Raemon was awesome. Super nice and friendly person, very open and always giving information about the different sites we went to. He would stand by our side whenever we needed to get cash out, when we were buying things, and would give us advice on how to deal with the locals. He also took us to some other sites that some people in the group requested that were not in the itinerary, which was even better. The food was catered to europeans/americans, mostly buffet style with some egyptian food so Raemon took us to a street food vendor for those who wanted to try something more local. No one in the group got sick, even though we ate everything. The hotels and the cruise were all great, the food in general was ok. We took the bus, that was 13 hours to Aswan, but most people took the flight. It is worth metioning that the extra excursions like Abu Simbel and the Hot air balloon are a must, they were some of the highlights of our trip. In Jordan we had Jamal as our guide, he really put in the time to teach us about Jordan, its history and culture. He was awesome too. He would explain not only things regarding the history of the different sites, but while we drive around, he would point out at things for us to notice, he would tell us about the culture, the food, the traditions etc. He also took us to the batism site of Jesus. We can't be tankful enough for how much he taught us, and how passionate he is about his job. The food in Jordan was amazing, way better than Egypt, and the sites were incredible. Overall, this trip is worth every cent. It is a very condensed trip, with a lot of sites and long days, some days having to wake up at 2:30 to go to some sites (you can always sleep on the bus). The two days in Hurghada are a great break, where you relax and rest, and the free day in Cairo we used it to go back into the pyramids, as the hotel is like 15 minutes away. I would not recommend this trip if you have young children, even teenagers would get very tired. We though about cancelling because of the current situation in Gaza, but thankfully we didn't. The support since the moment we booked the trip was also incredible. I can't stress enough how amazing this trip was and the awesome people we met along the way, and we want to thank Timeless Tours for providing this amazing experience that we will remember forever. Carlos and Rachel

Our guide for Jordan Tour, Suhaib was fantastic! - he was very organised and knowledgeable. Everybody loves him.

Egypt & Jordan Jewel with Nile Boat Cruise Tour

Egypt & Jordan Jewel with Nile Boat Cruise

Tour was well organized! The guide for the Egypt portion was very experienced The guide for Jordan was just ok. There were many occasions when he could be more organized. He didn’t explain what to expect what the plans were for the next day. Much confusion resulted from that. Many things look disorganized The boat cruise was terrible. Frequent problems with steady water supply , Not one day was without problems. The boat was not well maintained. The highlights of the tour were the pyramids, Abu Simbel. The hot air ballooning was a highlight despite reservations from the tour organizers

What people love about Holy Land Tours

Mo was an excellent tour leader in that he has such passion and enthusiasm about Jordan. I learnt so much about the history and culture and so enjoyed all of the activities. Mo went over and beyond to ensure my dietary needs were met as I have coeliac disease which was much appreciated. Highly recommend this tour.
We had the most amazing guide Leah Dor and the best driver Hassan they both was so lovely, accomodating and went out their way to be so helpful and gave us some extra nice suprises throughout the tour. Everything was a good pace, never rushed and saw so much place and Leah was an expert with knowledge. Transfer drivers was on time when arrived plus to leave. Reliable company and organised well. Only thing, if you want to visit where Jesus was born inside the church, there is a big que and it is not part of this tour as this is just the highlights, they visit the church but not to que for certain things like that which many was not aware of so read the intinary clearly
I loved the Heritage of the Holy Land tour. Our tour guide Leah was very knowledgeable and informative. Our bus driver Hassam was very good about navigating the narrow streets with a tour bus. We all became like family by the end of the week.

Tours to the Holy Land: Trips & Israel Tour Packages 2024, 2025

"Every place we visited was breathtakingly beautiful, with stunning landscapes and rich historical and cultural heritage. We highly recommend visiting Israel to anyone who wants to experience an unforgettable journey. We had a life-changing time there and are already planning to return." Simon L. and Beatriz G. – Tour to Israel/Egypt/Jordan February 2024 "I had a wonderful time in Israel. I felt while I was there the precautions that were taken for our safety were well in hand. I still got to experience many holy sites and be blessed by walking the path that Jesus walked. Every day was started in prayer, singing, or scripture reading which also extended the blessing of the trip." Quincie L. – Tour to Israel/Egypt/Jordan February 2024

Our Israel tours & Holy Land tours of 9-24 days for the Evangelical Protestant Bible believer are what Pilgrim Tours does best. Prepare yourself for a life-changing journey to walk where Jesus walked and visit Jerusalem, Galilee, & Samaria. Each of our Israel tours is led by a local guide who is an experienced expert on the historical, cultural, scenic, and spiritual history of the Holy Land. If you travel with 10 or more people, a private group tour can easily be arranged. Pilgrim Tours can customize an itinerary to fit your group needs with many options to choose from.

Concerned about safety? As a Christian tour operator, the staff at Pilgrim Tours takes a Biblical perspective regarding the current situation in the Middle East. We do not believe that peace in Israel is something that will occur until the Prince of Peace comes to restore His kingdom. Please do not make a reservation with us based on the hopes of a calm future. If you long for the special blessings only available in Israel, we will take you there. An expert driver and guide will carefully keep you from any areas that could present a problem and treat you to the riches of Israel as our special guest.

Featured Sites in Israel

Explore a vast selection of beautiful historical and Biblical locations throughout Israel with our Israel Holy Land tour. You can visit Jerusalem, Galilee, and parts of Samaria, getting the life-changing opportunity to see where Jesus and many other Biblical figures lived and walked. We even offer Holy Land tours that allow you to see the Dead Sea, the Garden Tomb, and the Jordan River Baptism Site. Like all of our Europe tours , our Israel Holy Land tours are led by local guides who have extensive knowledge of the area and its history. If you want to experience the history of Israel and see the Bible come to life, our Holy Land tours give you that opportunity.

The city of Jerusalem offers a unique convergence of Judaism, Christianity, and the Muslim faith. For Christians who visit Jerusalem, you will learn about many stories of the Bible while walking her streets. Many actors in the Bible such as Abraham, King David, King Solomon, the twelve disciples and Jesus all lived, visited, or spent time there. The Passion week of Christ will be highlighted during our stay as we visit the Mount of Olives, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Western Wall, the Way of Suffering, and the Garden Tomb.

Sea of Galilee

Nowhere in Israel does the Bible come to life more than along the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Pilgrims who visit the Galilee region have the opportunity to imagine what life was like 2,000 years ago and what Jesus and the twelve disciples experienced while fishing on the Sea of Galilee. The peaceful setting and the natural wonders of the Golan Heights to the east and Mt. Arbel to the west make for a great way to start your morning in quiet reflection. During our tour, we explore the Biblical towns of Capernaum, Magdala, and Nazareth and take a meaningful cruise on the Sea of Galilee.

The Dead Sea is not only the lowest and most lifeless lake in the world, but also nearly 10 times saltier than the ocean. Travelers will enjoy the beautiful colors of the blue water and the red mountains of Jordan to the east. Take time to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime Dead Sea “float” either in the sea itself or at one of the warm salt water pools at our hotel. The Dead Sea experience is truly a bucket list visit you won’t want to miss!

Garden Tomb

Our visit to the Garden Tomb and its surrounding gardens is normally one of the highlights of our tour to Israel. The Garden Tomb is a rock-cut tomb in Jerusalem that was unearthed in 1867 and is considered by some Protestants to be the site of the burial and resurrection of Jesus. Our visit offers a unique time of prayer, reflection, communion, and praise, which will be a special life-long memory for many travelers.

Jordan River Baptism Site

The Jordan River Baptist Site or “Yardenit” is a baptism site located along the Jordan River just south of the Sea of Galilee in northern Israel. This site is frequented by Christian Pilgrims who enjoy imagining the setting of the baptism of Jesus. For anyone who would like to be baptized in the Jordan River, Yardenit has been developed to be a peaceful setting with beautiful gardens, clean colored water, changing facilities, showers, and a nice souvenir shop.

Caesarea Philippi

To many Pilgrim travelers, Caesarea Philippi is a special surprise while on their tour. Located along the rushing springs of Mt. Hermon, the beautiful and natural setting is where Jesus asked his disciples “Who do men say that I am?” He asked this question while observing the pagan worship of the god Pan as worshipers offered their sacrifice at the “Gates of Hell.” Our time at Caesarea Philippi is one of many opportunities throughout our tour to see the lessons and message of the Bible come to light in a special way.

Israel Tours: Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best month for the Holy Land tour?

Taking a trip to Israel during the spring or fall offers the most enjoyable weather of the year but normally has the largest crowds. If you want to enjoy a peaceful tour with fewer crowds, consider visiting between December and February or June and August. We offer Israel and Jordan tours throughout the year, so you can select a trip that works for your schedule.

How many days do you need for a Holy Land tour?

We offer several types of tours of the Holy Land, so the duration of your tour depends on the tour package you choose. The Best of Israel Tour is our most basic offering and includes a Sea of Galilee boat ride, a trip to the Jordan River Baptism Site, the Dead Sea, and many opportunities to walk on the same land Jesus walked on. This is our shortest trip at just 9 or 10 days. Our most involved trips allow you to experience a wide range of historical locations over the course of a few weeks. Egypt tours are included in some of these packages, as well as tours in Greece and other countries. These tours can take up to 24 days, giving you the chance to spend an extended period of time learning about and visiting different parts of the world. From our Turkey tours to all of our Israel Christian tours, all of our tours feature a first-class hotel rating for the country you visit. We do offer some upgraded tours that offer better lodging options. You can review our hotel categories at https://www.pilgrimtours.com/company/hotelcomparison.htm . Check out any of our tours to view a day-by-day itinerary and see what amenities are included with each tour.

What is the dress code in Israel?

The dress code in Israel is different from other parts of the world. There are a few dress code basics you should understand before booking Israel tours: When you’re in Israel, there is no strict dress code. You can wear what you feel comfortable wearing. However, both men and women should try to dress conservatively and cover their shoulders and knees when visiting any of the religious sites throughout Israel. Generally speaking, it’s best to avoid tank tops and shorts. Men need to cover their heads when visiting the Western Wall. Pilgrim Tours provides a Pilgrim Tours ball cap upon arrival in Israel, but you might consider purchasing an affordable kippa that you can bring when you visit Jewish sites. Some places may offer a free kippa, but these are generally low quality. (Women are not required to cover their heads at any sight.) You can figure out what you need to pack and how to dress each day by looking at the itinerary for our Holy Land tours. Guides normally offer guidance on how to dress for the next day while on tour. We also suggest looking at the extended weather forecast as you prepare and pack for your trip.

Is there a lot of walking involved on an Israel Tour?

Our Israel tours do require a significant amount of walking each day and you should be able to walk unassisted 3-4 miles per day on average. Make sure you have a comfortable pair of shoes that provide adequate support. While there are bus and boat rides during these tours, you have to walk quite a bit to explore some of the Biblical sites. Our tour guides normally give the group a few options at sites for those that have physical limitations. One thing to keep in mind is that there are many hills and valleys in Israel which can make walking even more taxing. The amount of walking you have to do may vary based on the tour you take, so look at the itinerary before choosing your tour. The good news is that Israel is a beautiful country to see on foot, and you’ll have several opportunities to sit down and give your feet a rest. As long as you have a good pair of shoes and comfortable clothes, it’s easy to forget about all the walking you’re doing and enjoy the tour.

What passport & visa information do I need for your Israel tours?

U.S. citizens need a valid U.S. passport with at least six months validity beyond their intended stay to enter Israel. Make two photocopies of your passport. Leave one copy at home and carry the other separately from your original. Israel: U.S. and Canadian Citizens do not need a Visa when entering Israel. Non U. S. /Canadian Citizens are responsible to fulfill appropriate entry requirements of destination. Contact your Consulate office for requirements.

What common languages will be spoken during your Israel tours?

Hebrew, Arabic and English.

What currency can I use on your Israel tours?

The U.S. dollar is widely accepted across Israel, and we suggest bringing about $30 for each day you’ll be on tour. U.S. dollars are recommended for use for small purchases and lunches. Lunches typically cost $15-20. It is important to bring about 20 $1 bills as some bathrooms charge a small fee for use. Credit cards may also be used for larger purchases. ATMs in Israel are all connected to European and American banking systems. Please be advised that the ATM machines dispense money in SHEKELS – NOT U.S. DOLLARS. Please notify your bank before traveling overseas.

Do I need to bring a converter for the Israel tour?

Israel uses the European plug with two round pins. You will need to bring along the necessary converters and adapters to operate any 120 volt appliances such as hair dryers and electric razors as well as camera and cell phone chargers. Electricity in Israel is 220 volts 50 Hz.

What is the time zone for your Israel tours?

The time zone for Israel is seven hours ahead of EST and two hours ahead of GMT.

What climate should I expect during your Israel tours?

In Israel the climate is temperate, and temperatures all year-round are reasonable. Israel has two main seasons: winter (from November to March) is cold and rainy in most parts of the country; summer (from April to October) is hot and dry with little or no rainfall. The desert areas can be extremely hot in summer time.

Holy Land Tours & Travel Guide

Holy Land Attractions & Landmarks Guide

The "Holy Land" is a sacred pilgrimage site for three major world religions: Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. Located in the modern day Middle Eastern region, hundreds of thousands devout followers and religious history buffs make there way to the ancient sacred land of Jerusalem.

Brief History of the Holy Land

Considered holy by Jews, Christians, and Muslim, the Holy Land spans between the Jordan Rivers and the Mediterranean seas. The territory includes Israel , western Jordan , and the Palestinian territories. This land is known as the Holy Land due to it’s religious significance, including the holiest city of Judaism (Jerusalem), the history with Jesus, and the site of the Isra and Mi’raj event. People from across the globe visit the Holy Land to confirm their beliefs, and to connect with the physical manifestations of their faith.

The Holy Land Regions

The major regions of the Holy Land include Jerusalem, The Palestinian territories and Jordan, which are visited on most tours.  Holy Land’s differ depending on the religion. The Jewish Holy Lands include Jerusalem, Tiberias, and Mount Sinai. The Christian Holy Lands include Bethlehem, Nazareth, Sea of Galilee, Jerusalem, and Tiberias. The Islamic Holy Lands include Jerusalem, Mecca, and the Medina. Most Holy Land tours spend a fair amount of time in Jerusalem, which is understandable with the religious history and power the city has.

Common Holy Land tour routes usually start in Tel Aviv, and end in Jerusalem. Tel Aviv is a modern city that sits on the Mediterranean Sea . Stops along the way include Jaffa, Caeserea, Nazareth, Jerusalem, Galilee, and Masada. Physical activity levels vary depending on the tour – some tours have easy physical requirement, while others have strenuous activity levels.

Physical level requirements are listed on each tour page, so make sure to check into that if you’re looking for an easier travel level. Another travel trip – consider flying into Israel a day before the tour starts. This will help you make the most of your trip, and it will give you an extra day for some downtime and to recover from the long flights/jet lag.

Each stop has great experiences . While in Jaffa, walk the seaside promenade, and visit the Artist Quarter. Celebrate Mass at St. Peter’s church. While you’re in Caeserea, explore the archaeological discoveries, or visit the market in Druge Village. Take a boat ride in the Sea of Galilee, or visit a local winery.

Jerusalem offers the opportunity to follow the Via Dolorosa, or take in the city from the Mount of Olives. Take a stroll through the old city of Jerusalem, filled with cobblestone streets and colorful markets. Tours also offer an option to visit the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea, where you can float in the salty sea, and soak in the therapeutic salt and minerals.

Top Landmarks in the Holy Land

Holy Land tours are filled with incredible landmarks. Some of the most popular ones include:

1. The Basilica of the Annunciation - built above the site of The Virgin Mary’s home, where the Annunciation of the arrival of her soon took place.

2. Jerusalem Old City - Old City is home of numerous religious sites, including the Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (the end of the Via Dolorosa path, which is also site where Jesus was crucified), and the Dome of the Rock.

3.  Bethlehem  - the biblical birthplace of Jesus

4. Via Dolorosa - also known as the ‘Way of Sorrow,’ this is the path that Jesus walked on the way to His crucifixion. The Path is about one-third of a mile long (about 600 meters).

5. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre -  The end of the Via Dolorosa path, where Jesus is believed to have been crucified and buried.

6. The Mount of Olives - where Jesus encouraged His disciples after the crucifixion, and is where He spent the night before his arrest. Make a stop at the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus is said to have accepted his betrayal.

7. Yad Veshem -  A memorial site dedicated to the Jewish Victims of the Holocaust.

8. Nazareth -  Visit the town where Jesus spent his childhood, which is where you can see the Basilica of the annunciation, listed above.

9. The Dead Sea  - offers an opportunity to visit the lowest point on earth, and to soak in the salty sea, filled with minerals. Visit the a factory that features lotions, scrubs and masks made from the minerals.

Note: Do not shave that day or possibly the day before. The high concentrations of salt can make your body aware of all your cuts - It stings! An excursion to the dead sea allows the opportunity to see the Qumran Caves, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.

10. Masada -  located in the Judean Desert, ascend by cable car to visit the fortress and excavation of King Herod’s place. The top is seen as a symbol of bravery and self-sacrifice of the Jewish people. This hilltop also offers view of the Dead Sea and the Roman camps.

12. Western Wall -  The most religious site in the world for Jewish people, thousands of people visit the wall annually to recipe prayers. The wall is the western support wall of the Temple Mountain.

Must Try Food in the Holy Land

One of the best parts of travel is all the delicious food we get to try! Here are some of the must-try foods while you’re visiting the Holy Land. You’re sure to find any of these in cafes throughout your tour, or in one of the numerous street markets.

1. Hummus Masabacha/Kawarma -  Often paired with warm pita bread, make sure to check our hummus masabacha (chickpeas, paprika, and lemon-spiked tahini) or hummus kawarma – hummus with lamb mine, onions, and parsley).

2. Falafal -  Made with either fava beans or chickpeas (or both!), falafel is often served with the mentioned above hummus, pita bread, salad, and pickled.

3. Tahini - one of Israel’s key ingredients in their food.

4. Kanafeh - A cheese pastry soaked in a sweet, sugary syrup.

5. Baba Ganoush - Aubergine, also known as eggplant, is an extremely common dish served in Israel. Aubergine is often paired with tahini, lemon juice, garlic, or whatever other flavors you want to mix in.

6. Shakshuka - a combination of peppers, tomatoes, coriander, with eggs cooked in.

7. Lechem bread - one of the common breads served with every meal in Israel.

8. Not technically food but worth a mention: fresh-squeezed juice . You’ll find these stands in the open markets of Israel. If you’re there in the fall, pomegranate juice is a popular option!

9. Schnitzel - While this is a popular food option worldwide, there’s a bit of a twist in Israel. The schnitzel is actually a fried chicken breast! This is often served on a sandwich or with fries.

Holy Land Travel Photography Tips

Before you set off on your trip, take some time to get to know your camera. Do test photo shoots, read the manual, google your camera for trips. When traveling, you can’t always be at the right place at the right time, but knowing the settings and what you camera can do can help you get the best shot in the moment. Luckily, smart phones do a great job of judging the lighting and have great photo-editing options within the phone itself.

If snapping incredible photos that leave your friends asking for copies is one of your goals, try googling your destinations. The internet is full of photography tips for numerous cities, and you can learn what time of day you should photograph whatever it is you’re trying to take a snap of, such as the Basilica of the Annunciation, to get the best light.

Once you arrive in Israel, take a peek at the postcard rack, or images for sale, to get ideas of new perspectives/angles you want to shoot at. One of the best photography tips for any sort of travel is to wake up early and arrive to whatever area you’re photographing, so you can try to beat the crowds and get that picture perfect shot. Another perk of heading out early or staying out late, is you won’t have to deal with the glaring sun reflection.

One more trip – make sure you follow the rules and guidelines of camera use. Some places forbid the use of cameras inside, so if you see a sign that says no photos allowed, respect the sign and do not take photos. When you stop to take a photo, be aware of your surroundings.

What to Wear When Traveling in the Holy Land

As the weather varies, what you should wear depends on the time of year you are going. Bring layers if traveling in winter – a light-weight rain coat, a hat and gloves will be useful during this time. This is the rainy season in Israel.  Summers are hot, ranging from high 80s and 90s (F) in the city, and soaring over 100 degrees in the desert and The Dead Sea. The sun is strong, so bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the rays.

Regardless of when you visit, some religious sights require being covered. Make sure to bring clothing that covers your shoulders (a short-sleeve shirt should suffice) and bottoms that cover your knees. If you do forget, some religious sights offer shawls and coverings you can wear. Comfortable shoes are a must.

Israel streets are uneven and you will often find cobblestone. If you’re visiting the Dead Sea, a pair of shoes you can wear in the water may be beneficial. The ground can be rough, and while you’re unlikely to spend much time in the water, the salt water can eat away at your shoes.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING...

holy land tours travel

From a group of individuals, with varying motivation, we left as friends, not only with each other but with the people we met along the way and felt united as a group, bound by the shared and varied experiences which Holy Land Trust had given us. It was exhausting and amazing in equal measure, but above all, a once in a lifetime experience.

This program gives you a truly extensive immersion experience across The Holy Land. The community projects, the family visits, and access to policymakers sets this program apart from all the rest.

My own Christian faith has been deepened from my experience. I have more hope for the region from having met so many incredible people.

The most amazing thing is how the Palestinians have retained their amazing spirit! I felt so welcomed by everyone I spoke with and met while at PSE. By the end of my time in Palestine, I had a new family that I loved... many new friends from around the world... and I am happy to let you know I consider  ‪ Palestine my other home. Inshallah"

The tour went very smoothly. Adjustments were made appropriately to itineraries due to traffic conditions or time constraints, transport was comfortable and efficient, the guides were all informative and (mostly!) sensitive and the hotels looked after us well. We all enjoyed the food!

My time spent there was perhaps the most influential thing I’ve ever done, it has greatly ignited my passion for social justice and encouraged me to advocate for the ‪injustice of this conflict as much as I can.

Customer

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Tours to Moscow

Our Moscow tours are land only meaning that you arrange your own air travel to Russia and our expert staff meets you at the airport and handles everything else from there. Our online Airline Ticket booking system offers some of the most competitive rates to Russia available on the web so if you need tickets, please visit our Russian air ticket center . Rest assured that you will be taken great care of on one of our Moscow tours. Express to Russia has a fully staffed office in Moscow that will help to make your visit fun, informative and unforgettable. Please remember that of all these tours are private and can be adjusted to your taste. You can add, replace or skip some sights; you can add more days to the package or cut the tour short. Our specialists will be glad to help you create the tour of your dreams!

Novodevichy Convent, Moscow

Moscow, a City Like No Other

Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.

Moscow Kremlin in the times of Ivan III

Moscow Tours centering on Russian History

Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers

What is the best time to visit moscow.

Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide

How many days are enough in Moscow?

If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you.
