Great place for car shows and drag racing Take a backpack plenty of water comfortable shoes and an umbrella or hat to keep the sun off Great group of folks

Lucky to get people cart on way in....First time at a 4 lane raceway, very different, great entertainment, lots of fast action racing, continual. The Pits were busy, with lots happening, not many show & shine cars. Food and drinks were ordinary, long walk back to our car.

My first time to the track and WOW, what a great experience. You can really get close to the action, not like the NASCAR type and loud. Be sure to bring ear protection and come and enjoy. Food available on site and lots to see. I'll be back

My first time at a 4 lane drag race. Got tickets for my husband and he loved it. But it was scary loud for me. Will definitely buy those headphones for next time.

Exceptional experience. WOW. If you like drag racing then you need to experience 44000 horsepower at the starting line. Great day for a race.70 degrees and a nice breeze. Definitely want to return. Only drawback was food and drinks were really pricey.

This is the second year attended the spring 4 Wide Nationals and will continue to do so. Extremely fan-friendly, especially the crews and teams. Very different than a NASCAR event and we would encourage families to try it. Lots to see and experience as the racing never stops. Wear comfortable shoes and bring/buy ear protection especially for the kids. Purchase tickets in advance to avoid waiting at ticket offices. Very nice facility

MotorTrend Announces 2023 HOT ROD Power Tour Dates, Stops

El Segundo, California-based MotorTrend Group has announced the 2023 HOT ROD Power Tour driven by Continental Tire. 

As part of HOT ROD’s 75th anniversary, the tour will visit Georgia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee over five days in June. 

Dubbed America’s largest traveling car show, more than 6,000 cars and trucks of all years, makes, and models will be on display for tens of thousands of automotive enthusiasts. The tour will feature over 1,000 miles of driving, with high-octane events such as drag racing, autocross, and live entertainment.

“HOT ROD culture has defined generations of automotive customization and in 2023 we’re going into our biggest year ever for our 75th anniversary,” said MotorTrend Editor-in-Chief John McGann. 

2023 HOT ROD Power Tour Locations:

• Day 1: Monday, June 12 – Atlanta Motor Speedway, Hampton, Ga.
• Day 2: Tuesday, June 13 – South Carolina State Fairgrounds, Columbia, S.C.
• Day 3: Wednesday, June 14 – Rockingham Speedway, Rockingham, N.C.
• Day 4: Thursday, June 15 -- zMAX Dragway, Concord, N.C.
• Day 5: Friday, June 16 – Bristol Motor Speedway, Bristol, Tenn.

HOT ROD Power Tour Driven by Continental Tire Schedule: The tour will tap into each city's long-standing history of automotive culture, winding through factories in America's heartland (General Motors, Ford) before culminating in Indianapolis – the racing capital of the world.

Registration Information and Spectator Tickets: All vehicles and spectators must pre-register before arriving at the first venue they attend. Spectators can come out and witness the HOT ROD Power Tour spectacle at no gate admission cost but must register for a free ticket at www.hotrodpowertour.us . Spectator parking is located away from the show grounds and parking charges may apply in some locations.

After a six-week hiatus from the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series schedule, the competitive Pro Stock Motorcycle class returns to action at this weekend’s NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway. Atop the list of riders ready to hit the track is six-time champion Matt Smith.   Smith, a North Carolina native, is a two-time zMAX Dragway winner and wants nothing more than to return to the winner’s circle on his Denso Spark Plugs Buell. With a runner-up finish in Gainesville under his belt, he’ll be ready to return to competition this weekend in Charlotte.   “We won the first-ever four-wide race in Charlotte,” Smith said. “Our goal is to try to win the four-wide this weekend. We need to get back to winning races and need to give Gaige [Herrera] a run for his money. Hopefully one of our Denso bikes or Scrappers Racing bike can win this weekend.”   Austin Prock (Top Fuel), Robert Hight (Funny Car), Deric Kramer (Pro Stock), and Herrera (Pro Stock Motorcycle) all took home victories in 2023 at the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals. This year’s event will again be broadcast on FS1, including eliminations at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, and is the second of 15 races in Pro Stock Motorcycle during the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season.

NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series qualifying will feature two rounds at 4:30 and 7 p.m. ET on Friday, April 26, and the final two rounds of qualifying on Saturday, April 27 at noon and 2:15 p.m. Final eliminations are scheduled for noon ET on Sunday, April 28. The culture shock ratings considers the destination visited, transport used, activities undertaken and that "Wow, I'm really not at home now!" factor. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

This is the least confronting of our tour range. Transport used on the trip is either private or a very comfortable public option, the activities included are usually iconic sites and locations that are not all too confronting.

The tour can include a mix of private and public transport providing a level of comfort that is slightly below what you would experience at home. Sites visited are usually iconic sites, tours can also include market visits, visits to communities etc that provide the traveller with a fantastic insight into destination.

Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether it's a packed public bus where you are forced to stand, a visit to a local market, a local community, you are sure to have an experience that is very different from what you're used to at home.

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

You're out there in the global community! You are likely to be exposed to the elements, travel in whatever means of transport is available and basically take it as it comes, whatever comes! It can be tough.

Climbing on and off local transport or riding a bike up to 30 kms along predominantly flat terrain or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.

These Tours will provide you with some solid physical activity. Whether its bike riding, walking, trekking, kayaking or riding on public transport you will need to have a good level of fitness to enjoy this tour.
