Just got back from Ireland

Just got back from Ireland . Tony and Tamsin , Wow they were brilliant what a pair had us laughing and "singing" for the whole 5 days. Tony is a marvellous driver, how he negotiated the narrow streets was wonderful. They organized everything to make sure we had the best ever holiday in Dublin and Belfast. Thank you all so much hope we see you all again sometime. I would highly recommend travelling with National Holidays to Ireland, the Titanic Exhibition is fantastic , the Coach drivers are all so friendly and helpful .

Food at the Burlington was very good…

Food at the Burlington was very good and all the staff were helpful and polite. But the hotel itself could do with a lick of paint. Excursions out were interesting and enjoyable. Our driver was informative. Would go again.

Excellent tour but more time in Wells needed please…

The trip was really good apart from the visit to Street as the length of time allocated for Street was too long and took away our visit to Wells which was really interesting but limited time meant limited sightseeing and learning about the history of Wells. Apart from that, the rest of the tours were great. Entertainment at the hotel was definitely a plus and our driver Josh, was excellent. A pleasant, polite young man and good driver.

Skipton Market & Harrogate Flower Show: We had a very good experience. Our driver was friendly and very efficient, our hotel for the night was very good. The evening meal was excellent. (Holiday Inn, Doncaster.) Also a very comfortable, clean coach.

Excellent weekend away, hotel was modern, clean, staff pleasant, food very good, albeit service was a bit slow. Driver was very good & informative. Blist Hill Victorian town & Birmingham made it a varied break, most enjoyable.

No problem booking and we also got £60 knocked off the brochure price as I mentioned I had a voucher from before lock down when the company was taken over.

Isle of Man Holiday

Holiday was well worth the money. Good hotel and the driver was very helpful. Ferry journey was calm but took four hours to get to the Isle of Man. Hotel was clean and comfortable, food was good but breakfast was buffet style and not very hot.

The trip was ok the Andre Rieu concert…

The trip was ok the Andre Rieu concert was very good the big snag was when we got to the Holiday Inn Haydock we had not been booked in and we had to wait for quite a while until they found somewhere else for us to go. This made everything late we did not have time for a meal we just had to drop everything at the hotel you found for us and get to the show.

A holiday for 3 to Weston

Booking quite straightforward although had to wait a day before single rooms could be confirmed. Don’t understand why my pick up point is mentioned in the advertisement but incurs a supplement! Was told “ it’s in the small print “ !

Andre Rieu concert in Liverpool

National holidays is efficient and the are coaches on time. Driver was very polite and made conversation with us. He was easy to approach and a new the route well. Hotel was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our experience.

The hotel staff and location…perfect

The hotel and hotel staff and location were perfect The only downside was the coach driver who wasn’t very helpful at all,myself and other ‘less able ‘people had to ask him every time if he would lower the coach ,as the steps was to high. His driving was erratic ,going to fast ,taking wrong turns several times. There was no conversation or ‘banter’ with him at all. Despite driving in both Belgium and Germany he admitted to not knowing or understanding the road signs which ended up more than once taking wrong roads and we missed out on a visit to Koblenz which was scheduled in our itinerary

Chaotic and stressful experience due to bad management

Driver had wrong pick up details resulting in delay. On arrival at hotel which was an hour away from venue, it was chaos. Some rooms weren't ready and the staff couldn't cope with the number of people resulting in some passengers having to wait outside in the rain. It took so long there wasn't enough time to get freshened up and changed before boarding the coach again. Reservations to eat had to be cancelled with hardly any time before start of show. None of this was driver's fault,he did the best he could in an impossible situation.

Good and bad

The coach driver was very jolly and informative, it was clean, trips were good, hotel great. However one big criticism is that we are traveling at least 1.5 hrs to our hotel only to have to travel back the same way for the second day visit. A total waste of the drivers and customers time, waste of fuel. This is happening more and more.puts a damper on the trip.

Advertised as a Normandy D Day trip but…

Advertised as a Normandy D Day trip but had hardly any time at the memorial on gold beach to look, same with pegasus bridge and first home liberated and no time to visit museum there or view the cafe with much history. Second day spent looking round 2 shopping areas and would have preferred trips to sword beach, gold beach, omaha and utah beaches. Very disappointing as travelling took 24 hours to get there, was ridiculous. I would not recommend this trip. Make your own way by Brittany ferries and get train down to Portsmouth, alot quicker and more comfortable and you can spend as much time at places as you like

Well organised, drivers friendly and helpful, coach comfortable and clean, and the hotel and the Holiday In, in Runcorn was excellent, a great break, thank you.

I received an advertising pamphlet in…

I received an advertising pamphlet in the post for a £30 reduction per person when booking a holiday. I did not get the discount because I did not read the correct code off the pamphlet.i eventually got the discount because I caused a fuss.The employee was only just civil and not very helpful. I will not be using National Holidays again.

First and last …

Our holiday was badly organised and lacking in information. It took us 24 hours for our return journey. The drivers were very good drivers but had no relevant information for us. You either need to train them to be couriers or put a courier on board. Too much time was wasted waiting for the other coaches in the group because of the feeder bus system. This was our first ever coach trip and almost certainly our last.. The hotel was very good.

Our passenger descriptions are designed to help you choose the right ticket for yourself or your fellow travellers.

Adult (16+) and Children (3-15)

Children under 14 cannot travel alone unless accompanied by an adult (16+). Please note, you may be required to show proof of age at any point during your journey. Failure to do so, may result in the full adult fare being charged.

Disabled Children

Should be booked as Children. If they are travelling in a wheelchair or require assistance, please call our Assisted Travel Helpline.

We strongly recommend that you bring a car seat appropriate to your child's age, but ask you to take responsibility to fit the seat.

Booster Seats

Children aged between approximately 4-11 years old, or up to 150cm tall, may use booster seats. We carry a limited number onboard most coaches.

If travelling with a child, you may be required to show proof of age when buying tickets or at any point during your journey. Failure to do so may result in the child being required to pay the full fare for the journey on that day.

Vacation Break Service from WSU and U of I Thanksgiving ★ Winter ★ Spring

Ride our Vacation Express! The Vacation Express departs Washington State University, the University of Idaho, and Central Washington University at the beginning of Thanksgiving, Winter, and Spring Breaks to Arlington, Bellevue, Biggs Junction, Ellensburg, Kennewick, Mountlake Terrace, Portland, and Tacoma. The Vacation Express then returns on the Sunday at the end of the breaks from the above locations. Please note that Portland, Biggs Junction, Arlington, Mountlake Terrace, and Kennewick are only serviced from Washington State University and the University of Idaho.

Tickets are non-refundable. Cancellations and rescheduling must be made 24 hours in advance of date of travel.  Failure to cancel without at least 24 hours notice or no-shows will result in a $25.00 fee.

Masks are currently not required to travel at this time. If masks are mandated at the Federal or State level, then we will have to require that you wear them.

We ask that you not travel while sick. Riding with the Starline Collection means you may be subject to a temperature reading, and if a fever is detected or if you are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19, you will be denied entry on to the bus. Please obey the driver if they ask you to move from a seat that must remain empty. Seats that must remain empty will be flagged as such.

In Scotland you access free bus travel via the National Entitlement Card, which also gives those who live on Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles two free return ferry journeys to the Scottish mainland each year.

In England, the older person’s free bus pass only arrives when you hit the state pension age (currently 66) – with notable exceptions being London and Liverpool. If you live in the capital, you can travel there for free when you are 60. You can get a 60+ London Oyster photocard until you are eligible for a Freedom Pass, for which the current eligibility age is 66.

The 60+ photocard gives you free travel on buses, the tube, trams, Docklands Light Railway, London Overground, the Elizabeth line (excluding between West Drayton and Reading) and most National Rail services in London, from 9am on weekdays and at any time at weekends and on bank holidays (it’s from 9.30am on weekdays for the National Rail services). You also get discounted fares on river services such as Thames Clippers, and discounts on Santander cycle hire. For full details, check out the TfL website .

Merseytravel offers a similar arrangement in Merseyside.

Get a rail or coach card

The senior railcard is for those aged 60 and over and costs £30 a year, or £70 for three years, and gives you a third off rail travel.

National Rail, which issues the cards, says people with a senior railcard save on average £86 a year , or £5.26 a journey . The railcard is not valid during the morning peak period – times differ around the country, so you will need to check before you travel.

A National Express senior coach card, which costs £15 plus £3 postage, gives you a third off standard and fully flexible fares, plus £15 day returns to anywhere in the UK on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays.

There are no restrictions on peak and off-peak travel times, so you can travel when it suits you.

Holiday for less

If you are booking a trip away, ask whether your airline, train company or hotel, including chains overseas, offers a senior discount.

The budget hotel chain Travelodge has in the past offered over-60s 25% off selected stays, while Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in the US is among those offering reduced rates. Eurostar offers special senior fares for those aged 60-plus on its continental routes (for example, Brussels to Paris and Brussels to Amsterdam), but not for journeys between the UK and mainland Europe.

Enjoy a show

Many theatres and cinemas have special deals and showings for those aged 60-plus.

You can get £20 off tickets for midweek matinees (applying to full-price £89 and £69 tickets, or £79 and £59 tickets for the forthcoming production of Ballet Shoes) at the Lyttelton and Olivier theatres at London’s National Theatre . For shows in its Dorfman Theatre, higher-priced tickets are reduced to £36 for midweek matinees.

Other London theatres offering discounted tickets for over-60s include the Old Vic and the Young Vic.

The Ambassador Theatre Group runs one of the UK’s biggest ticketing operations, ATG Tickets, and says those over the age of 60 will get discounts at selected venues and shows, so it’s worth checking before you book. The Picturehouse cinema chain’s free-to-join Silver Screen club gives over-60s a free hot drink and discounted tickets, typically for matinee shows. The Odeon chain’s Silvers scheme shows films at quieter times of the day, with tickets from £3.50 including tea, coffee and biscuits served before the film.

Showcase cinemas have Silver Screenings on a Monday, with tickets for all films starting before 4pm usually discounted to £4.99.

Almost a million over-60s take advantage of the National Trust’s senior concession, a 25% discount off membership, bringing the cost down to £68.40 for individual senior membership, or £113.40 for joint senior membership, provided you have been a member for at least the last three consecutive years. The Royal Horticultural Society offers a hefty discount on its life membership, reducing the individual price from £1,495 to £935.

Shop with a discount

The supermarket chain Iceland has a Bonus Card scheme that provides all shoppers with offers and savings, but has an extra perk for cardholders over 60: a 10% discount in its shops every Tuesday. When shopping you will need to show ID – a senior bus pass, senior railcard or driving licence.

Asda is another retailer that targets the over-60s with deals. It ran a popular “winter warmer” meal deal between 1 November last year and the end of February this year, which offered soup, a roll and unlimited tea and coffee for only £1 in any of its 205 cafes. Keep an eye out for future offers.

Play or watch sport

Older fans of sports including football, cricket and rugby can often get discounts on tickets. In many cases you have to be at least 65 or 66 but there are several football club season ticket schemes, such as Sheffield United’s, that start reductions at the age of 60.

Some golf clubs offer membership discounts or incentives to older players. The age requirements vary. The GolfSupport.com website carried out a UK survey and published its findings , which may help you track down a good deal in your area.

Stay healthy

NHS prescriptions in Scotland and Wales are free for everyone but in England you need to pay until you turn 60; after that they are free.

In Wales, those aged 60-plus can get free NHS dental examinations, too. Everyone in Scotland is entitled to free NHS dental examinations.

NHS-funded eye tests are free for everyone in Scotland. In the other countries of the UK, those who are 60 and over are entitled to free NHS eye tests, which you can take up at most opticians.

Specsavers offers over-60s 20% off glasses, while Boots Opticians has a 10% discount on your first pair of glasses.
