On the Princess app, you’ll look for the dining option.

Then, “explore dining options”!

Select any main dining room (the menus should be all the same), and then look for the small “view menu.”

Then, scroll until you see the wine section!

This is also how you can see the dining room dinner menu , along with the breakfast menu and lunch menu, if you select a dining room with those meals available.

Dinner is available in every main dining room every day. Breakfast is available every day but not all dining rooms will serve breakfast. Lunch is available on sea days, but not all dining rooms will serve lunch. The easiest way to know which dining rooms serve which meals is to look at the daily schedule of activities that will be delivered to your stateroom every evening. The dining room hours are listed on the back.

This dining room menu feature will only work once you are on the cruise ship.

Princess Cruises does offer a variety of complimentary beverages. These include juice during breakfast, non-bottled iced water, iced tea, tea, and brewed coffee.

Other beverages like specialty coffees, smoothies, fresh juice, soft drinks, bottled water, and energy drinks are all an additional fee. Likewise, all alcoholic beverages cost extra.

What are the Princess Cruises drink packages?

Princess Cruises has recently revamped its drink package offerings to now include two alcoholic drink package options, the Plus Beverage Package and the Premier Beverage Package.

There are also three non-alcoholic Princess Cruises drink packages: the Zero Alcohol Drink Package, Classic Soda Package, and New Grounds Coffee Package.

Additionally, similar to other brands like Celebrity Cruises , Princess Cruises has also rolled out two more all-inclusive packages, the Plus Package and the Premier Package. We will discuss these packages a bit later.

Princess Cruises Drink Package Basics

There are a few basic things you need to know about the Princess Cruises drink packages before we dive into the details of each option.

  • Each drink package is priced per day, per person.
  • Packages must be purchased for the entire duration of the cruise.
  • A service charge of 18% will be added to the total purchase price of a drink package at checkout (excluding Australia itineraries). Additionally, a tax may be added at the time of purchase for certain itineraries or ports of embarkation.
  • These packages may be purchased online pre-cruise up to four days prior to sailing or once onboard the ship. The package is offered onboard on embarkation day only.
  • Beverage packages are non-refundable and non-transferable within three days of sailing and/or once onboard the ship.
  • Of course, there is no sharing of the package or using your drink package to order drinks for other cruisers.
  • You are limited to only one beverage per order, alcoholic or non-alcoholic.
  • However, unlike many other cruise lines, all passengers staying in the same stateroom do  NOT  have to purchase the Princess Cruises drink package.
  • Alcoholic beverages are limited to 15 drinks in a 24 hour period (6 AM to 6 AM). Non-alcoholic drinks do not have this limitation.
  • The packages may be used on private islands, at all food and beverage venues, and other areas such as the theater that offer beverage service.

How do you purchase Princess Cruises drink packages?

Guests can purchase add-ons including drink packages via the online cruise planner up to four days prior to their sail date. Princess Cruises drink packages can also be purchased onboard during the first day of the cruise only. Unlike most cruise lines, just one person can purchase a drink package.

Similarly, guests can upgrade to one of the new more inclusive packages up to four days before sail date or during embarkation day. However, both the first and second guest on the reservation will need to purchase the same pricing fare.

Age restrictions apply for purchases of the Plus and Premier drink packages.

How much are the Princess Cruises drink packages?

When it comes to different drink packages on Princess Cruises, cruisers can select from a number of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Of course though, you will want to know the Princess drink package prices when considering if one is worth it for you.

Plus Beverage Package is US $64.99 per day plus 18% service charge (totaling $76.70 per day) for all itineraries except Australia. For all Australian-based vessels, the package is AUD $110.00 per day which includes a service charge.

Premier Beverage Package is US $84.99 per day plus 18% service charge (totaling $100.30 per day) for all itineraries except Australia. For all Australian-based vessels, the package is AUD $140.00 per day which includes a service charge.

When looking at the prices of the alcoholic drink packages, you will notice that they are MORE expensive than upgrading to one of the more all-inclusive pricing fares. The Plus package is $60 per person, per day and the Premier package is $80 per person, per day.

Princess Cruises Drink Package Prices:

  • Plus Beverage Package – $64.99 per person, per day plus 18% gratuity

Majestic Princess Alaska Cruise Review

Is there a limit on drinks with Princess drink packages?

Unlike some cruise lines like Royal Caribbean or Celebrity Cruises which do not have any limits, Princess Cruises drink packages DO have a daily limit.

Alcoholic beverages are limited to 15 drinks in a 24 hour period (6 AM to 6 AM). However, non-alcoholic drinks do not have this limitation and do not count towards the 15 drink limit.

Of course, staff do have the right to refuse you bar service if you are intoxicated. Knowing your limits is just as important on a cruise ship as it is during your regular life!

What is the difference between the Princess Cruises Plus Beverage Package and Premier Beverage Package?

Previously, Princess Cruises only offered one alcoholic drink package. The former “Premier” drink package is now the Plus Beverage package. This package features all the previous inclusions. Now, there is also a new Premier Beverage package which is a more inclusive drink package option.

In short, the Plus drink package covers drinks up to $15, and the Premier covers drinks up to $20.

New Grounds Coffee Package

Princess Cruises offers a new beverage package for coffee lovers, The Grounds Coffee Package. This package includes the pre-purchase of a specified number of specialty coffees and complimentary brewed coffee and hot chocolate.

Guests may redeem the number of specialty coffees purchased in the package in locations where espresso is available. This will include select bar and dining areas and varies by ship and/or itinerary.

The coffee package is valid only on the voyage for which it is purchased. If the maximum number of coffees pre-purchased are not used during the voyage, the remaining value is not refundable. It is also not transferable to a future voyage.

Is Princess Plus Worth It?

  • Specialty Cocktails- $14+
  • Specialty Coffee- $3.50
  • Bottled Water (500 ml)- $2.65

Are Princess Cruises drink packages worth it?

This brings us back to the original question. Are Princess Cruises drink packages worth it? That is a question that only you can answer based on your own drinking habits. Essentially, will you consume enough to make the purchase “worth it”?

For us, beverage packages usually save us money. Though, we also just enjoy the added convenience of not worrying about the bill the end of the cruise.

Using the chart below, you can do the quick math to see if you would routinely hit the daily “break even” point for the above drink packages.

Now, you should also take into account a few other things before deciding whether you should purchase a drink package or not.

Other Considerations

Some considerations include the length of the cruise and how many ports of call are on the itinerary.

For instance, will you be able to sustain the same drinking pattern over the course of a 10-day or 14-day cruise? If your cruise is port intensive, will you be on the ship enough to make good use of your Princess drink package?

Further, each passenger can bring one bottle of wine or champagne (no larger than 750 ml) onboard in their carryon luggage during embarkation. Any additional bottles of wine can be brought onboard for a $15 corkage fee.

The final, and perhaps the most important consideration, are the new all-inclusive fares. The new Princess Plus and Princess Premier packages make it difficult to justify purchasing just a beverage package alone.

Complete Guide to Princess Cruises Drink Packages

The price of a Plus drink package is $64.99 per day, while upgrading to the Princess Plus fare is only $60 and provides additional benefits.

The same is true for the Premier pricing. The Premier drink package is $84.99 per day, while the Princess Premier fare is only $80 with even more benefits.

Essentially, if you want to purchase an alcoholic drink package, it’s a no-brainer to upgrade. If just one person in the stateroom wants a drink package, or if the second guest is under 21 years old, it makes the decision a bit harder.

Additionally, if you want a non-alcoholic package, you probably won’t recognize much cost savings by upgrading unless you planned to take advantage of the other add-ons anyway, like WiFi or fitness classes. Adding the costs for just the Zero Alcohol package ($39.99), gratuities ($16), and WiFi ($15), you will recognize a small savings of $10.99 a day.

Princess Plus and Princess Premier Cruise Packages – What’s the difference?

So, what exactly are these all-inclusive pricing fares we keep talking about and what do they include?

Basically, when you book a Princess cruise, you will now have the option of three different price levels. These levels are Princess Standard, Princess Plus, and Princess Premier.

The Princess Standard fare is basically a cruise only rate.

Majestic Princess Bar Guide With Menus

Princess Plus

Guests can upgrade to the Princess Plus fare for $60 per person, per day. This fare includes the Plus Beverage Package, WiFi for one device per guest, and Crew Appreciation (gratuities) .

Guests also get two premium desserts per day, two fitness classes per cruise, and an unlimited juice bar.

Per Princess Cruises’ website, this is an overall savings of 54%.

The Plus Beverage package alone is $64.99 per day. The WiFi for one device is $15 per day. The Crew appreciation is based on stateroom category. For Interior, Oceanview, and Balcony, it is $16 per person, per day; Mini-Suite and Reserve Collection $17; Suites $18.

As you can see, you are basically getting WiFi and gratuities for free by choosing this rate instead of just purchasing a drink package. Not to mention, you also get the other perks like dessert, fitness classes, and the juice bar.

Summary of what’s included in Princess Plus pricing:

  • Princess® dining, accommodations and entertainment
  • MedallionClass® experience
  • Plus Beverage Package (drinks up to $15 each)
  • Wi-Fi (1 device per guest)
  • Crew appreciation
  • Premium desserts (2 per day)
  • Fitness classes (2 per cruise)
  • Unlimited juice bar

Princess Premier

Guests can also upgrade to the Princess Premier fare for $80 per person, per day. This fare includes the Premier Beverage Package, WiFi for 4 devices per guest, Crew Appreciation, and two specialty dining meals per guest.

With this fare, guests also get a photo package, unlimited premium desserts, unlimited fitness classes, unlimited juice bar, a Medallion accessory, and reserved seating in the theater.

This is an overall savings of 66%.

Additionally, Premier guests have the chance to win Princess Prizes. Princess Prizes is a promotion on board that allows guests to win prizes through their stateroom door portal. The prize portal is activated when a guest opens their stateroom door using their Medallion device. Prizes currently include entry into an end-of-cruise drawing for $5,000 or more in cash, onboard credits, onboard dining experiences, free cruises, and $100,000 cash.

Discovery Princess Restaurant Guide

The cost of the Premier Beverage package is $84.99 per day. The cost of WiFi for four devices is $40 per day.

Running the numbers, even if you planned to purchase just a Plus drink package, along with WiFi or specialty dining, you should consider this upgrade as it does include quite a bit more for only $80 per day.

Summary of what’s included in Princess Premier pricing:

  • Premier Beverage Package (drinks up to $20 each)
  • Wi-Fi (up to 4 devices per guest)
  • 2 specialty dining meals per guest
  • Photo package (unlimited digital + 3 prints)
  • Princess Prizes
  • Premium desserts (unlimited)
  • Fitness classes (unlimited)

  • As part of Princess Cruises’ partnership with XPonential Fitness, there are 3 types of classes to choose from: StretchLab, Pure Barre, and YogaSix. Guests can sign up at the fitness center.
  • The new Juice Bar features 4 juice blends and 2 power shots (ginger and turmeric). Each juice is a 6 oz serving and will be unlimited for guests with a package. They are also available a la carte for $6-$8 each for guests with no package.

There is a lot of confusion on Princess ships right now for people who purchased a drink package before Princess changed the limits. Even though the Plus package says it is for drinks up to $15, some people who purchased earlier will be limited to $12 drinks. So depending on when you purchased, there are actually two different packages.

Still unclear….can drink package be used at specialty dining venues

Princess Cruises Alcohol Policy, Drink Prices, Packages

CruiseMapper logo

Princess Cruises alcohol policy - what are the rules on bringing your own liquor onboard Princess cruise ships? Princess cruise lines alcohol policy is slightly different than alcohol rules of other major cruise companies (bringing champagne/wine onboard is allowed, corkage fee applied if consumed in dining rooms).

Princess Cruises Alcohol Policy

What are Princess Cruises alcohol age restrictions and the permissible age to access the casino and disco?

Princess Cruises alcohol policy, wine, drink prices, packages

Drinking age, bringing liquor/wine on Princess cruises

  • What is legal on Princess is 21 years drinking age which is always observed and proof of age is often required. Princess onboard staff are advised to take seriously the responsibility for underaged passengers and not serving alcohol to them. Age alcohol restrictions are posted in the bars.
  • Disco entries are limited to 18 years and older passengers. Don't forget to check with kids' and teens' centers for special children's disco events. Kids under 18 years old are welcome in the spa, Jacuzzi, and gymnasium, and when accompanied by a guardian or a parent are also welcome in the entertainment show lounges in the evenings.
  • Princess ships casino is reserved for 21 years and older guests - only they will be allowed to consume alcohol there. For guests of questionable age, picture identification is usually requested.

Read at this link what the Wikipedian guys have to say about alcohol.

Princess Cruises beverage policy rules and allowance

Bringing liquor at embarkation onboard all Princess cruise ships is not allowed. All liquor will be confiscated. It will be returned later, at the end of the voyage. Bringing champagne or wine onboard is dependent on the two-part rule:

  • a guest of drinking age is allowed to bring one single bottle of champagne or wine per voyage, no larger than 750 ml, which won't be subject to any fees if consumed in staterooms.
  • $15 corkage fee is applied when brought to the restaurants.
  • Bringing additional champagne or wine bottles onboard is allowed, but then each bottle will bear corkage fee of $15, no matter where they're going to be consumed.

Champagne and wine can be brought onboard Princess cruise ships for consumption during visits of call ports, but liquor is always held until disembarkation. Passengers agree (as it's provided in Passage Contract) not to bring any alcohol onboard Princess ships for consumption, except a bottle of champagne or wine per each adult (who is of drinking age, of course). Beer, spirits or liquor are not permitted.

Don't forget that your luggage will be scanned - alcohol beverages outside of Princess alcohol policy will be discarded. Princess line isn't responsible for discarded alcoholic beverages by security staff shoreside.

Purchasing liquor from Princess ships’ duty-free shops and ashore (in ports of call)

Liquor that is purchased in port and in Princess cruise ships' duty-free shops is retained until the end of the voyage. All alcoholic beverages purchased at call ports or duty-free from Princess ships' gift shops are collected for safekeeping, afterward delivered to the passengers' staterooms on cruise's last day.

Passengers have to report bringing wine and liquor aboard during port visits and embarkation. The staff will assist passengers with the storage of shoreside alcohol purchases, and Princess boutiques staff - with shipboard alcohol purchases. Such items aren't eligible for replacement or a monetary refund.

Passengers may take complimentary cocktails at Champagne Waterfall, Captain's Welcome, Circle and Farewell Parties, and at art auctions.

Specialty bars on Princess ships

"Princess Vines" Wine Bar provides selections of more than thirty wines by the glass. "Crooner" Martini Bar provides selections of more than seventy premium Martinis.

Drinks included in Princess Cruises fares

Princess Cruises apply an extra charge on carbonated beverages, like all other lines, but complimentary champagne and cocktails are available at Art Auctions, Champagne Waterfall, Captain's Welcome, Captain's Circle and Captain's Farewell Party. Surely, at dinner time the staff will offer you Perrier sparkling water for a small charge, but you can decline politely and enjoy for no fee fresh-tasting ice water. Another tempting thing aboard includes the beverages in the mini-fridge - not-so-free by the way.

Alcoholic Beverages

Alcoholic beverages, for the most part, are not included in the price of your Princess Cruises vacation. However, there are some exceptions. The special beer package, which gives you the opportunity to get a free drink if you buy five, includes Coors Light, Beck's, Dos Equis, Miller Lite and Miller Genuine Draft.

Couples on honeymoon receive a bottle of free champagne to celebrate a happy event. The Repeat Cruiser Reception and Captain's Reception offer free drinks from the bar during special events.

Suite passengers, according to Princess Cruises, also receive at embarkation free glasses of champagne. Once you've sailed the 16th Princess cruise (or 151st day onboard Princess), you are welcomed as Captain's Circle elite member, and this entitles you to complimentary tasting Grapevine wine event.

Coffee, Cocoa, Tea

Hot tea and coffee are free in all Princess dining areas. The additional cafes aboard charge extra for lattes and gourmet coffees. Guests can purchase coffee cards to get discounts on specialty drinks. Princess ships' bars charge fees for tea and coffee. Hot chocolate is another extra, unless when ordered with room service.

Non-Carbonated Beverages

Lemonade, unsweetened iced tea, regular milk, skim milk, juices (orange or apple juice) - these are always free in Princess dining areas. Juices are charged at the bars. In passengers' staterooms, there are small fridges available, for a few of your favorite drinks.

Soda Packages

Soft Princess drinks, like onboard most ships, are not covered. If you drink more than three sodas per day, better buy unlimited drink plan which is inexpensive. Room service is not included. Princess also provides a soda package entitling the guest to six drinks but paying the price of five, which includes Diet Coke, Coke, Diet Sprite, Sprite, tonic water, soda water, orange-flavored soda, and ginger ale. The members of Captain's Circle receive mini-bar setup (complimentary) in their staterooms, including a can of Sprite, Coke, Diet Coke, and a bottle of water, refilled for free when requested.

Chilled and fresh-tasting fountain water in all Princess Cruises dining areas is free. Refill your glasses generously. However, if you want bottled water or Perrier sparkling, will be charged extra.

Princess Cruises alcohol packages

The all-inclusive beverage package includes:

  • all spirits, cocktails, wine, and beer priced below $10
  • all nonalcoholic items like mocktails, shakes, sodas
  • tea, espresso, coffee, specialty drinks

Princess Cruises beverage package includes additionally 40% discount on bottled wines (priced under $100), as well as food items included with coffee cards (like gelato and crepes). The "All-Inclusive Bar Package" is currently available for $49 per day, per person. With the 15% gratuity, it costs $56.35.

Before 2015, all adults traveling in the same stateroom had to purchase the all-inclusive beverage package. Minors traveling with adults purchasing the package had to purchase "Unlimited Soda and More" package. After May 2015, you are not obliged to buy an all-inclusive beverage package together with your roommate(s) who had it. The all-inclusive drink package is not offered on Sun Princess and Sea Princess, as well as on Princess ships homeported in Australia and New Zealand.

OLD All-Inclusive Beverage Package (with alcohol included)

In July 2015, the company introduced its own alcohol-inclusive drink package. Unfortunately, this is an "exclusive" all-inclusive deal available only on Princess Australian ships.

  • The new all-inclusive beverage package is named "Sip and Sail" and priced AUD 59 PP per day.
  • Package inclusions are drinks priced up to AUD 14 (per drink), including alcohol (liquors, cocktails, beers, wines by the glass), non-alcoholic unlimited drinks (sodas, specialty coffees, shakes, juices, bottled water).
  • To whoever buys the Australian unlimited drinks package is offered 40% discounted pricing on wines (by the bottle) that cost under AUD 100 per bottle.
  • The new drink package can be bought only on the ship (purchased through any bartender or waiter) but must be purchased for the full cruise. Partial (daily) deals are not available.

NEW all-inclusive drinks package with alcohol (Premier Beverage Package)

In September 2017, Princess Cruises changed its unlimited alcohol package and increased its price.

  • The old "All-Inclusive Beverage Package" (priced USD 59 per day, per person) covered drinks up to USD 14 - including beers, wine by the glass, spirits, cocktails, shakes, juices, water bottles, soft drinks. Passengers received up to 40% discount on bottles of wine (priced at USD 100 or less).
  • The new "Premier Beverage Package" costs USD 86.99 (pp per day) and includes all wines by the glass, beers, and cocktails under USD 16, plus unlimited non-alcoholic drinks (bottled water, fresh juices, shakes, fountain sodas). The new package limits the number of alcoholic drinks purchases at 15 pp per day. The company also reduced the discount that passengers receive on bottles of wine under USD 100 - from 40% to 25%.
  • The new package is not available on cruises under 7-days (Australia-based ships) or less than 2-days (on all other ships).

Premier Beverage Package includes unlimited fountain sodas, bottled water (500ml), specialty coffees and teas, fresh juices, smoothies, milkshakes, Red Bull energy drinks, frappe’s (at Coffee & Cones). Package's value was increased by adding alcoholic beverages up to AUD 16 (old AUD 14), offering 25% off all bottles of wine (not only under $100) and including one 1-liter bottle of water (sparkling or still) for free when dining at specialty restaurants.

Non-alcoholic beverage packages cost

You can purchase wine packages in bundles of 3, 5, 7 bottles, and save about 25% off individually purchasing them.

NEW cocktail and wine menus with prices

In August 2018, Princess Cruises introduced newly enhanced beverage menus with signature cocktails created by master mixologist Rob Floyd. Ingredients are fresh and based on itinerary-destination. The new menus are offered fleetwide and in all shipboard bars and lounges. In addition to the new cocktails, in the company's drink menus were added 20 high-end spirits, 39 premium wines (by the glass) and 17 international and craft beers. Among the new cocktails are:

  • Amaretto Manhattan (Disaronno, Bulleit Bourbon, Angostura orange bitters, sweet vermouth)
  • A Trip to the Tropics (apricot liqueur, Absolut Elyx vodka, orange-pomegranate-pineapple juices)
  • East Side Punch (Absolut Elyx vodka, cucumber, fresh mint, lime juice, club soda, simple syrup)
  • Italian Sunset (Bombay Sapphire gin, Aperol, lemon juice, Angostura bitters, simple syrup)
  • Ivory Coast (Amarula African liqueur, Grey Goose vodka, Kahlua, chocolate shavings)
  • Mayan Heat (Triple Sec, Patron Silver tequila, agave syrup, lime juice, muddled jalapeno)
  • Mint Divine (ginger beer, Bombay Sapphire gin, lime juice, cucumber, fresh mint, simple syrup)
  • Princess Punch (Absolut Elyx vodka, fresh lime, St George raspberry liqueur, Gosling’s ginger beer, simple syrup)
  • The Egyptian Zombie (Gosling’s Dark rum, Bacardi Superior rum, blackberry brandy, grenadine, orange-pineapple juices, sweet-and-sour)
  • VerJus (St-Germain, St George “Terroir” gin, muddled green grapes, simple syrup, lemon juice).
  • New “Zero-proof" (non-alcoholic cocktails) are "Strawberries on Fire" (fresh strawberries, agave syrup, lime juice, jalapeno, soda) and Zero Mojito (fresh mint, lime, Sprite, simple syrup).

In addition to the 39 new wines by the glass, Princess partnered with Doug Frost (Master of Wine and Master Sommelier) to update wine menus fleetwide. Princess also revealed new "Sip and Sail" drink promotion offering complimentary beverages for all balcony, mini-suite and suite bookings through September 5, 2018. Sip & Sail promo deals were available for adult residents of USA, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, and Bermuda.

In November 2018, Princess Cruises doubled down on line's culinary travel focus via enhanced wine list across the fleet, featuring bottles chosen by one of the most popular wine experts in the U.S. The main dining room wine list already boasts 142 choices. The menu was completely redesigned in a way making it easy for everyone, even occasional wine drinkers, to find what they like. For example, white wines are described as "light & mild," "refreshing," "fruity and vibrant", "crisp & tangy," "rich & textured."

To develop the list, the cruise company brought in wine expert Doug Frost, who is one of four in the world to have both a Master Sommelier and Master of Wine certification. The new list includes elite choices like Chateau Lafitte Bordeaux which sells for US$1,600 per bottle. However, the list includes wines at a price point that should not bother too many cruisers. 66% of the wines are US$49 and under. A third of the wines cost less than US$39 per bottle.

Vines Wine Bar

Vines Wine Bar has been a regular fixture on many Princess cruise ships for quite a while although it doesn’t have the widest selection of wines ( the best is the Main Dining Rooms ).

It’s usually located in a corner of the Piazza (atrium) and offers wine, Champagne and sparking wine by the glass and bottle, wine flights and antipasti to accompany your wine.

It was voted one of the “Best Wine Bars at Sea” by USA TODAY and Princess Cruises received the Wine Spectator’s Excellence Award in 2023.

Which Princess ships have Vines Wine Bar?

Vines Wine Bar can be found on the following ships in the Princess Cruises fleet:

  • Caribbean Princess
  • Crown Princess
  • Emerald Princess
  • Grand Princess
  • Majestic Princess
  • Regal Princess

How much is Vines Wine Bar on Princess Cruises?

Please be aware that all prices in this article are in US Dollars ($).

Wine by the glass start at $10 and bottles start from $43.

In the menus below we have included the prices per glass and per bottle. We’ve also indicated which wines by the glass are covered in the Princess Plus Package and which by the Princess Premier Package.

Princess Cruises Vines Wine Bar Menu Plus and Premier packages

If you order a glass of wine that is not covered in your package, you simply pay the difference. For example, if you are on the Princess Plus package and order an $18 glass of wine, you are charged $3 extra.

An 18% service charge is added to each check. If you have one of the packages, the service charge is added at the point you purchase the package, no additional service charges are added once you’re on board.

If you don’t have a package, you pay the prices listed below in the menus with a 18% service charge.

It’s worth being aware that Vines Wine Bar on Princess Cruises is classed as a casual dining restaurant, so there is the option of a prix fixe meal here. It costs $14.99 for three dishes or can be included as a casual dining visit (for no additional fee) if you have the Plus or Premier package.

Confused about casual dining and your package? We recommend taking a look at our article dedicated to Casual Dining on Princess Cruises .

Princess Cruises Vines Wine Bar Menu: Champagne and Sparkling

If you enjoy sipping Champagne and sparkling wine, you should also check to see if your cruise ship has a Bellini’s Bar too.

The Asti and Prosecco are both included by the glass in the Plus and Premier package.

Vine Wine Bar White Wine Menu with Prices

Be aware that wine ordered by the bottle is not covered in the Princess Plus or Princess Premier but you receive a 25% discount. This is the case across all bars and restaurants on Princess Cruises.

Red Wine Menu at Vines

You have 10 red wines to choose from at Vines Wine Bar on Princess Cruises.

Vines Wine Bar on Princess Cruises: Rose List

Both rose wines are included in the Plus and Premier packages.

Interestingly, the Sunny With A Chance of Flowers Rose is made using a wine turbine so it’s 100% sustainable and is only 85 calories (zero sugar). Another glass, wine not!

Wine Flights from Vines Wine Bar

If you like to taste a range of different wines, wine flights are available. Wine flights are not part of the exclusions from the beverage packages are therefore are included in the Plus Package (up to $15) and Premier Package (up to $20).

The Norman Love Wine Flight pairs wine with chocolate for those who love both!

Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to find the most up-to-date prices for the wine flights but will add them below once we do.

Vines Wine Bar Casual Dining Menu

As previously mentioned, Vines Wine Bar is also a casual dining venue on Princess cruise ships.

princess cruises wine bottle

The menu is tiny as it’s designed to accompany your wine. You can order items individually or as a prix fixe meal for $14.99. The prix fixe menu is included if you are on the Plus or Premier packages (Plus allows 2 x casual dining meals per cruise, Premier allows unlimited meals).

At Vines, the following dishes are available to order to accompany your wine:

  • Crudités ($3): assortment of fresh vegetables and dipping sauces
  • Charcuterie Board ($12): imported meats and cheese such as prosciutto, salami, mortadella, porchetta, ham, parmigiano-reggiano, fresh mozzarella, gorgonzola, olives, onions, marinated artichokes and bread sticks
  • Dark Chocolate Truffles : ($3)

wine tasting at Vines Wine Bar

We think that Vines Wine Bar is an odd choice to be classed as a Casual Dining option and given there is only three options, we feel you could definitely find better casual dining restaurants on board with a wider selection of dishes.

In our opinion, if you do decide to have the prix fixe menu here, you should share it between two people.

Princess Cruises Winemaker Dinner

For a extra special dinner with wine pairings, you may want to consider booking one of the Winemaker Dinners. These aren’t held in Vines but are particularly popular with

How to Bring Your Own Wine on a Cruise

By: Sherry Laskin · Updated On: September 17, 2022

I know a lot of cruisers who rather bring wine on a cruise that they’ve purchased at home. I even knew a couple who bubble-wrapped thrift shop wine glasses to use in their stateroom with their own French Bordeaux.

You can’t smuggle wine on a cruise anymore but cruise lines do permit you to bring your own wine. Each cruise line has its own set of rules and fees. This post explains each cruise lines’ wine and champagne policy so your bottle isn’t confiscated at embarkation.

Cruise ship wine packages on display for purchase if you don't bring wine on your cruise.

How to Bring Wine on a Cruise

For a long time, people simply bubble-wrapped their wine and put it in their checked luggage. You can’t do that anymore. Security X-ray screening can spot a smuggled wine bottle a mile away.

Tired of paying $45 for a bottle of wine that you can buy at home for $12.99? Well, you can still bring your own wine on a cruise.

Cruise lines are wise to cruisers’ preferences and figured out a way to make a few bucks off of people’s penchant for their own vintage. It’s the corkage fee.

Want to bring your own wine or Champagne on a cruise ? Here’s what you need to know, from how much you’ll pay and to whom, and what the mainstream and premium cruise lines charge.

I didn’t include luxury cruise lines or river cruises because wine (and beer) is usually complimentary at lunch and dinner.

The following guidelines were gleaned from each individual cruise line’s website at time of this publication. I called a few cruise lines to confirm their policy and more times than not, I had to request to speak with a supervisor.

Across-the-board rules:

  • Allowed only on embarkation day (See Disney’s new policy below)
  • Guests must be over 21 yrs.
  • Applies only to wine and Champagne/sparkling wine.
  • Up to 750ml bottles unless otherwise stated.
  • If you get caught smuggling booze, it will be confiscated and probably not returned.

Mainstream Cruise Lines Wine Policy

Carnival Legend Sitka Alaska

Carnival Cruise Line

Guests on Carnival may bring wine or Champagne aboard in their carry-on bag, one bottle per person. Two people in a stateroom equals two bottles of wine, one per person.

A $15 corkage fee per bottle will be charged if you bring the wine into the main dining room, specialty restaurant or bar on the ship,  Drink it in your room and you’re okay. Better bring a twist-off or bring/ask for a cork screw!

If you want to bring wine on a cruise, you might want to rule out Costa. No food or drink purchased on land may be brought aboard when boarding the ship. Period.

And Costa goes on to state: Cocktails, coffees and a wide range of drinks can be purchased on every deck and in all the bars.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Passengers may bring wine and Champagne on their cruise but only on embarkation day. No matter where you plan to open the bottle, you will be charged a corkage fee, even for drinking it in your stateroom.

Fees are determined by bottle size: 750 ml bottle is $15.00 and 1,500 ml magnum is $30.00. Wine sent by your friends, family or travel agent will also result in your being charged a corkage fee. Really??

Box wines are not allowed on board. The Norwegian website does not give a limit to how many bottles are permitted per person. Best to inquire directly from cruise line when you’ve paid your deposit.

Anthem of the Seas

Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean charges a $15 corkage fee for public area consumption. You can only bring wine onboard at embarkation. Limited to two (2) 750 ml bottles per stateroom.

Solo passengers may also bring aboard two bottles of wine because it’s PER STATEROOM. Pop the cork in your room…no fee. Everywhere else, yes.

Premium Cruise Lines

Azamara – alcohol and wine included.

A premium-plus two-ship fleet that includes complimentary standard spirits, international beers, and a changing selection of one red and one white wine by the glass each day throughout your voyage. No need to schlep your own wine or try to sneak spirits onboard.

Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity just started their “Always Included” package that includes their Classic Beverage Package (and gratuities). This features an unlimited array of water, beers, cocktails, frozen drinks, and wines by the glass up to $9 per serving.

The Classic Beverage Package also comes with a 15% discount on all bottles of wine.

As with all the other cruise lines, NO beer or hard liquor may be brought aboard. On Celebrity, two bottles of wine per stateroom are allowed on boarding day and no fee if you consume it in your stateroom.

Bring wine into any bar or dining venue and there is a $25 corkage fee.

Celebrity Cruise LInes Celebrity Edge

I love how Cunard worded their message:  “You may bring wine or champagne on board.

Should you wish to take wine or Champagne on board to consume in a restaurant, each bottle will be subject to a $20.00 corkage charge. So properly charming and polite as I would expect.

Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line Guests 21 years and older may bring a maximum of 2 bottles of unopened wine or champagne (no larger than 750 ml) or 6 beers (no larger than 12 ounces) on board at the beginning of the voyage and at each port-of-call. Really?

Guests wishing to consume wine or champagne that they have brought on board in one of the dining rooms will be charged a corkage fee of $25.00 per bottle. And there’s more:

  • These beverages must be packed in carry-on (not checked) bags or luggage.
  • Any alcohol packed in checked luggage will be removed and stored until the end of the cruise.
  • Any wine or champagne in excess of 2 bottles or beer in excess of 6 beers will be stored until the end of the cruise.
  • Bringing liquors and spirits (including powdered alcohol) on board is prohibited. These items will be stored until the end of the cruise.
  • Alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area.

Holland America

Each guest 21 years and older may bring one bottle of wine or champagne (no larger than 750ml) onboard in carry-on luggage on embarkation day. No corkage fee if consumed in the stateroom.

Additional wine or champagne bottles (no larger than 750ml) in carry-on luggage are welcome, but will incur an $18.00 corkage fee each, irrespective of where they are intended to be consumed.

Guests are not allowed to bring beer, boxed wine, or other liquors and spirits onboard.

Princess Cruises

One bottle of wine per person up to 750ml may be carried onboard on embarkation day. If you plan to drink the wine in your stateroom, you will not be charged a fee.

If you want to drink your own wine anywhere else on the ship, there’s a $15 corkage fee. Bring any more that your allotted one bottle and every bottle after that, regardless of where consumed, is charged the $15 fee.

Should You Bring Your Own Wine on a Cruise?

I don’t see why not! Just remember the corkage fees and the restrictions. Sometimes buying a wine package onboard your ship levels the playing and paying field.

Hi Marlene, Thank you for reading my article and taking the time for your question. Yes, within guidelines, guests may bring their own wine onboard a P&O ship. Here’s the link to what I found on the P&O site regarding their alcohol and wine policy: https://www.pocruises.com/short-breaks/code-of-conduct

Thanks again! Happy cruising!

Hello, do you know what the P&O wine policy is please?

September 26, 2019 at 6:18 pm

Hi Sharon, Thank you for your interesting question. One option I might suggest would be that you claim your own bags at the airport and take them with you on the motor coach to the port. Or, grab your wine and then dash over and have your luggage taken to the ship. I’d suggest that one of you locate the Princess representatives at the airport and tell him or her that you’d like access to your suitcase before it gets taken to the ship transfer. That should work. Have a wonderful cruise! Sherry

TSA requires the wine be put in your checked bag. Princess Cruises requires the wine be in your carry on bag. Princess Cruises transports your checked bag to the ship for you. How do we get the wine from our checked bag to our carry on bag? Thanks

June 21, 2019 at 2:00 pm

John, here’s what it says on Windstar’s website regarding their alcohol policy: Passengers are allowed to bring aboard two (2) bottles of wine or champagne (750ml) per cabin for their enjoyment on board for a 7-day Cruise or three (3) bottles for an 8-day (or longer) Cruise. Passengers may consume these permitted outside beverages in public areas on the ship, but a small corkage fee (approximately US$15) will be applied to the Passenger’s onboard account. All additional outside alcohol (meaning wine, beer and/or hard alcohol) including alcohol purchased at ports of call along the Cruise route, will be kept by the ship’s staff and delivered to the Passenger’s cabin the last evening of the Cruise.

what is the bringing of alcohol on winstar cruises

January 2, 2019 at 10:23 am

Hi JB, That’s kind of a tricky issue and a very good question. In theory, yes you could pour your own wine into glasses and take them into the dining room. But keep in mind that dining rooms and bars each have unique wine glasses so you could be noticed bringing “foreign” wine glasses into the dining room. While you may not be charged a corkage fee, it could be embarrassing if you were at a large table with other cruisers. So, yes, you could try it but be aware that the dining room staff, from Maitre ‘d to assistant waiter will know what you’re doing, if that matters to you. Either way, have a wonderful cruise! Cheers! Sherry

Can You Bring Wine on a Cruise? (+ Corkage Fees)

While wine is available in plentiful supply on all cruise ships, passengers consider taking their own bottles for various reasons.

For some, it’s to save a few dollars. For others, it’s taking a rare vintage bottle for a special occasion.

Most cruise lines will allow you to take a 750ml bottle of wine per person with you in your carry-on when you embark on your cruise ship.

Wine Bottle in Suitcase

However, the rules vary by cruise line, from some not allowing any alcohol on board and others allowing you to take an unlimited number of wine bottles but charging you an extra corkage fee , usually $15 – £25 for each bottle (see table below).

How Many Bottles of Wine Can You Take On a Cruise?

Below is a table highlighting how much wine you can take onboard each leading cruise line.

Underneath, we provide my in-depth info for each one, as well as the corkage fees when relevant.

We checked the wine alcohol policies for each cruise line and some cases, rang them up to get confirmation on the finer points and up-to-date charges.

The most generous cruise line for taking your own wine onboard is Viking Cruises which allows guests to take an unlimited amount of wine onboard with no fees.

Of the larger cruise lines, Disney Cruises is the most generous and lets you take two bottles of wine each.

British Cruise line P&O allows 1-liter bottles of wine, rather than the standard 750ml for all the other cruise lines.

Individual Cruise Lines Wine Policies

Can you bring wine on a carnival cruise.

Carnival cruises allow guests over 21 years to bring one 750ml bottle of wine or champagne onboard via their carry-on luggage only.

Carnival charges a $15 corking fee for any bottles of wine you want to consume in public dining areas.

As will all cruise lines, no wine can be brought on board via checked luggage.

How to Pack Wine on a Cruise Safely

If you carry your own wine bottles onboard, you must pack them safely. so there is minimal chance of them breaking and leaving you with shattered glasses pieces and stained clothes.

This is especially important if they are going in your checked luggage for any part of the journey if yo are taking a flight and where you won’t be able to oversee them.

When boarding your cruise, your wine will have to be t aken through cruise security in your carry-on luggage, but you still need to pack with care to avoid breakage.

Here are a few bullet point tips to help pack your wine safely in checked or carry-on:

  • Place in a plastic bag to capture any leakage
  • Pack central, away from the sides and edges of the suitcase
  • Keep compact – no room for movement in the suitcase
  • Wrap individual bottles in towel or clothing

Other options include putting the bottle in a reusable wine bottle protector .

Some people pack them tight into one of our cruise essentials , the packing cube.

Can I Bring Alcohol on my Cruise? Drink Policies for Every Cruise Line

Can you bring alcohol on your cruise? The answer is likely yes, but with lots of fine print .

One of the reasons cruises offer such great value is because the cruise line wants to get passengers on board. Once they are a “captive audience,” then the cruise lines can offer to sell them all sorts of things — from excursions to souvenirs to alcohol.

And have now doubt, selling drinks is a big business for the ships.

Glasses of wine

With literally thousands of people ready to let loose in the warm sun, the booze flows like water. It’s not an accident that a cruise ship can easily have a dozen bars… and several other restaurants to grab a drink.

It shouldn’t be a surprise, then, that nearly every cruise line prohibits your bringing beer or liquor aboard the ship to drink. After all, it’s in their interest to sell you a tasty drink instead of you bringing your own. However, many lines will let you bring some wine or champagne  when you board the ship.

It likely won’t quench your thirst for the entire cruise, but it’s good to know that if you want to save a few bucks, then you can bring at least some alcohol aboard on your own.

To help you sort out what you can and can’t bring, we’ve gone through the trouble of rounding up each cruise line’s alcohol policy.

In This Article...

Carnival Alcohol Policy

One of the most popular cruise lines in the world, Carnival’s alcohol policy is in line with what you usually find on mass-market lines.

Carnival allows you to bring on one 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne, per adult 21 years or older. The bottle must be sealed and unopened. All other alcohol — including beer and spirits — are not allowed and will be confiscated.

A corkage fee of $15 applies for each bottle if you decide to drink it in the dining room, bar, or another restaurant. There’s no fee for drinking it in your cabin.

Alcohol Allowed: One bottle of wine/champagne for each adult on embarkation day. Source

Celebrity Cruises Alcohol Policy

Like most cruise lines, things like beer and liquor are not allowed to be brought with you on embarkation day. Celebrity says plainly that “Guests are not permitted to bring alcoholic beverages onboard.”

There is an exception for wine (champagne is not specifically mentioned, but is usually lumped in with wine). Celebrity allows passengers to bring two bottles of wine for each passenger, but there is a corkage fee if they are consumed in a public area (unless you have a drink package). There is no size limit on the bottles mentioned, but it’s safe to assume the limit is a standard 750 ml size.

Alcohol Allowed: Two bottles of wine per stateroom on embarkation day. Source

Cunard Alcohol Policy

Cunard is known for its stately cruise ships, including the Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mary 2. The high-end cruise line follows the lead of many other cruise lines in that most alcohol is not allowed to be brought and consumed on the ship.

The lone exception is that the cruise line does allow one bottle of wine or champagne per adult. You can drink this in your room, but if you want to have it in a public area, there is a $20 corkage fee.

Alcohol Allowed: One bottle of wine or champagne per adult on embarkation day. Source

Disney Cruises Alcohol Policy

On a Disney cruise, alcohol isn’t quite as “front and center” as you might find on other mass-market cruise lines. On the other hand, the cruise line is a bit more liberal with what you can bring onboard with you.

According to the website:

“Disney Cruise Line Guests 21 years and older may bring a maximum of 2 bottles of unopened wine or champagne (no larger than 750 ml) or 6 beers (no larger than 12 ounces) on board at the beginning of the voyage and at each port of call. These beverages must be packed in carry-on (not checked) bags or luggage.”

There is a $26 corkage fee for drinking your wine in the dining room. All drinks must be sealed and unopened. If not, they will be taken from your luggage. Apart from the small quantity of beer and wine, no other alcohol is allowed to brought onboard to drink during your cruise.

Alcohol Allowed: Two bottles of wine/champagne or six beers per adult at embarkation. Source

Holland America Alcohol Policy

Holland America, like other lines, has a restrictive policy regarding bringing alcohol on the ship.

First, beer and liquor are not allowed to be brought aboard when you embark to drink on the ship.

That said, you can bring on wine or champagne. Holland America allows all guests 21 and older to bring on bottles (up to 750 ml) to drink on the ship. However, what you bring is hit with an $20 corkage fee. Note that there is no specific limit on the number of bottles you can bring, but we’d suggest keeping it at one bottle per adult.

Alcohol Allowed: Wine or champagne are allowed. Limits aren’t mentioned, but assume one bottle per adult. Bottles are subject to $20 corkage fee. Source

MSC Alcohol Policy

According to the “Conditions of Carriage” on MSC’s website, “Alcoholic drinks, including wines, spirits, beer or other liqueurs are available for purchase onboard the Vessel at fixed prices. Passengers are not permitted to bring onboard any such drinks for use during the voyage, whether for consumption in their own cabins or otherwise.”

That seems to include all alcohol, including beer, wine, and liquor. If there is a silver lining, MSC is known for having some of the least expensive drink prices and packages of any cruise line. Drinks start at around $6.

Alcohol Allowed: Guests cannot bring on alcohol on their cruise. Source

Norwegian Cruise Line Alcohol Policy

Norwegian Cruise Line does not allow passengers to bring on most forms of alcohol, including beer and liquor.

NCL does allow passengers to bring on wine or champagne as long as it is in a fully sealed bottle. What’s nice is that Norwegian simply says that “Guests may bring bottles of wine and champagne on board.” There is no limit mentioned to the number of bottles listed per stateroom or per passenger.

What’s not so nice is that the cruise line says a corkage fee is charged for each bottle, no matter if it is consumed in public areas of the ship or in your stateroom. The charge is $15 for a 750 ml bottle and $30 for a 1,500 ml (magnum) bottle.  Even at those prices, however, bringing your own bottle would be cheaper than drinking wine/champagne from the bar.

Alcohol Allowed: Wine and/or champagne are allowed (no limit mentioned). A corkage fee applies even if drinking in the stateroom. Source

Oceania Alcohol Policy

Want to bring 60 bottles of wine? Oceania actually lets you do that… in some cases.

Here are the basics: Beer or hard liquor cannot be brought onboard. However, for any Oceania cruise, guests can bring up to six bottles of wine per cabin. If you are fortunate enough to be on a handful of around-the-world cruises (most lasting around 160-200 days), then you are allowed to bring up to 60 bottles per cabin.

This wine is free to drink if you keep it in the cabin. If consumed in a public area, it will be hit with a $25 corkage fee.

Alcohol Allowed:  Six bottles of wine per cabin. Specific world cruises can bring up to 60 bottles per cabin. Source

Princess Cruises Alcohol Policy

Princess fits in with the most standard alcohol policies. Wine and champagne are allowed, but any other alcoholic drink, including beer or spirits, isn’t allowed to be brought aboard on embarkation.

If you bring wine/champagne, you are allowed one bottle per adult of drinking age. The bottle must be 750 ml or smaller. Magnum bottles aren’t allowed.

You can drink the wine in your cabin for no charge, but if you drink them in a public place, a $15 corkage fee is charged.

You can bring additional bottles of wine or champagne with you, but anything over the one allotted for each passenger will see a $15 corkage fee, no matter where it is consumed.

Alcohol Allowed: One bottle of wine/champagne per adult. Additional bottles are allowed but charged a $15 fee. Source

Royal Caribbean Alcohol Policy

Along with Carnival, Royal Caribbean is among the most popular cruise lines in North America.

The mega-line does allow passengers to bring one bottle (750 ml) of wine or champagne per adult. There is no corkage fee on the wine if you drink it in your stateroom.

Other alcohol like beer and liquor are not allowed to be brought with you on embarkation day.

Alcohol Allowed: One bottle of wine or champagne per adult. Source

Virgin Voyages Alcohol Policy

Virgin Voyages is known for being an adults-only cruise line that started sailing in 2021. The cruise line has a different way of doing many things, but when it comes to alcohol, the policy is the same as most other major carriers.

First, liquor and beer are not allowed to be brought on the ship to enjoy during the cruise (but you can buy them in port and have the staff hold them until the end of the trip).

Wine is allowed to be brought on the ship. Virgin says you can bring two regular-sized (750 ml) bottles per cabin. No word on champagne, but it should be fine. There are also no corkage fees mentioned, saving you some money.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a corkage fee and how can I avoid it? Corkage fees are charges applied to alcohol you bring on the ship and consume in public areas. So if you bring on a bottle of wine and drink it in a dining room, the fee will apply.

Most of the time this fee doesn’t apply to alcohol consumed in the cabin. So if you want to avoid the charge, you can simply enjoy your drink in the room. One thing to note is that it’s doubtful that anyone would give you bother if you were to put a drink into a glass and then walk around the ship with it.

What if I bring on alcohol from a port? One popular thing that many people do is buy alcohol in port. Often you can find these in duty-free stores, or find drinks you wouldn’t get back home or at cheaper prices. But don’t think you’ll be able to drink these back on the ship.

Instead, when you board with bottles bought in port (no matter is it’s wine, beers, liquor, or anything else), they will be held by the cruise line until the end of the trip and returned to you the last night of the cruise.

What happens if I board with alcohol that’s not allowed? Bring beer when you’re not allowed? Maybe you brought too many bottles of wine? If this is the case, then it’s up to the cruise line how they want to handle it. Some will simply hang onto the excess alcohol and return it at the end of the cruise. Others may confiscate the alcohol and destroy it. Either way, it’s best just to follow the rules so you don’t have to worry about what happens if it is found.

The 12 Best All-Inclusive Cruises for 2024

When it comes to all-inclusive cruises, there are a few different options:

  • Luxury cruise lines: All-inclusive cruise rates are available on luxury lines like Regent Seven Seas and Silversea. While more expensive than traditional cruise rates , the fares cover nearly everything, including door-to-door transfers, luxurious suite accommodations, specialty dining , premium alcoholic beverages and excursions. Plus, you don't need to show your cruise card every time you order a latte or a pre-dinner cocktail. You'll disembark the ship with very few, if any, additional charges on your final bill.
  • Cruise lines with inclusive pricing: Alternatively, you can consider an upscale cruise line like Viking, which offers fares with more-inclusive pricing and some of the amenities found on board the fully inclusive lines. However, you'll still have to budget for a few expenses, such as immersive excursions and alcoholic beverages beyond wine or beer at lunch and dinner.
  • Packages and add-ons: Other cruise lines like Oceania, Windstar and Norwegian offer add-on drink packages and other promos so you can create a more all-inclusive experience.

After comparing the costs between a truly all-inclusive cruise and a sailing with package pricing for the extras, the total price may be closer than you think.

Atlas Ocean Voyages

Atlas Ocean Voyages features "always included" cruise fares on its two purpose-built yachts, World Navigator and World Traveller. The line recently welcomed a third ship to its fleet for the 2023-24 Antarctica season, World Voyager. Atlas' high-end boutique ships cater to just 198 passengers and feature spacious staterooms and suites with panoramic windows or private balconies and beautiful public spaces and lounges. These small ships also have several options for dining, depending on the sailing and destination.

The all-inclusive fares cover complimentary dining; unlimited wines, craft beers and spirits; 24-hour bar service with canapes; a free in-room minibar; afternoon high tea; fresh-pressed juices and specialty teas and coffees; butler service; 24-hour room service; prepaid gratuities; cultural immersion in every port; and other perks.

Polar expedition fares cover private charter jet service, group transfers from the airport to the yacht, an Atlas Ocean Voyages parka and vest to take home, Zodiac sightseeing safaris, expert guided shore landings, and destination lectures and briefings.

If you're on one of the line's Epicurean Expeditions, the cultural immersion program offers complimentary special tastings, market visits and cooking demonstrations. In addition to use of the marina's water toys (on select sailings, weather permitting), guests can enjoy an authentic Portuguese dinner and an alfresco Josper Grill dining experience at 7-AFT Grill. On select voyages, culinary presentations, wine tastings and other special events are hosted by an expert.

More-Inclusive Cruises

Cruise fares with these lines include many of the amenities and perks that you'll find with the all-inclusive cruises. However, you'll still need to budget for some expenses, such as alcoholic beverages, excursions and specialty dining, depending on the line.

Viking's ocean fleet of nine 930-passenger all-veranda ships offers a nearly all-inclusive experience for guests. The upscale Scandinavian-inspired ships feature king-bed staterooms and suites with many amenities, including luxurious linens and plush robes, 24-hour room service, and free Wi-Fi – plus an in-room minibar with soft drinks, water and snacks. Higher-category staterooms on Viking Ocean Cruises come with additional perks like priority dinner and spa reservations, early stateroom access, and a welcome bottle of Champagne.

Cruise fares also include complimentary dining at all the venues; one free shore excursion in every port; beer, wine and soft drinks at lunch and dinner; specialty teas, coffee and bottled water; access to the spa; lectures and performances; port taxes and fees; and more.

Viking also has two 378-passenger Polar Class 6 expedition vessels, Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris. These ships also offer a mostly all-inclusive experience with the same amenities as their oceangoing vessels. Pricing on the expedition sailings includes Zodiac safaris, the use of kayaks, a keepsake Viking jacket, and essential gear for excursions and landings.

Select excursions, pre- or post-dinner cocktails, spa treatments, special bottles of wine, and other optional purchases come at an additional expense.

Azamara's four upscale boutique ships carry a maximum of 702 guests and offer immersive experiences around the world, calling on many smaller, lesser-known ports. The line also boasts more than 380 overnights and 850 late nights in port, so guests can have dinner in town and experience more of the destination's local culture and cuisine.

Azamara's cruise fares include all meals (other than the specialty dining restaurants) with water, tea and coffee. A selection of complimentary wine, sparkling wine, beer and spirits is available throughout the voyage. Cultural evenings ashore or on board the ship and gratuities are also included in the basic cruise fare.

If you'd like to enhance your onboard experience, Azamara offers inclusive "Experience More" packages that are discounted and based on the length of the voyage.

For example, on a seven-day or shorter sailing, solo travelers can add a package for $799 that's valued at $1,114 (a savings of 28%). This value-add bundle includes $350 of onboard credit to use for shore excursions; unlimited Wi-Fi for one device; a drinks package featuring premium wines, spirits and bottled water; a $150 spa credit; and a dinner at the Chef's Table or a total of three nights of specialty dining at Prime C or Aqualina. Three bags of laundry are also included.

Guests can book similar packages for double occupancy staterooms and longer voyages. You can also choose individual beverage, dining or internet packages if you don't need the extra amenities or features of the bundled options.

Virgin Voyages

Virgin Voyages' four superyacht-inspired ships are designed with adults in mind and feature 1,330 cabins (most with balconies) and 78 RockStar Quarters suites, where guests have access to Richard's Rooftop, an exclusive outdoor deck space. Pricing with the adults-only cruise line includes stateroom or suite accommodations and meals at more than 20 eateries serving up international cuisine and dishes created by Michelin-starred chefs. Guests also have access to complimentary Wi-Fi; unlimited group exercise classes; nonalcoholic drinks such as water, tea and coffee; and plenty of lively entertainment.

Virgin does not offer beverage packages, but the line at times advertises special promotions that include voyage credits to cover expenses like airfare and drinks. Shore excursions and spa treatments – including skin care offerings on board Scarlet Lady in partnership with Jennifer Lopez, Virgin's chief entertainment and lifestyle officer – are some of the additional expenses not covered in the base fare.

Add-on Packages and All-Inclusive Fares

These five cruise lines offer basic cruise fares that cover accommodations and some amenities – and you can typically find special pricing and promotional deals throughout the year.

With the optional packages, guests can create a mostly all-inclusive voyage with bundles of add-on extras, such as shore excursions, beverage packages, specialty dining, Wi-Fi, gratuities or shipboard credit to cover miscellaneous personal expenses such as spa treatments or a bottle of wine for a special celebration.

Oceania Cruises

Oceania's eight small luxury ships carry between 648 and 1,238 guests. The line's newest ship – Vista , the first Allura Class vessel – debuted in Rome in May 2023. The beautifully appointed vessel features four new dining concepts, spacious standard staterooms at 290-plus square feet in size, new Concierge Level veranda accommodations for solo cruisers, an elevated mixology program and more.

Oceania's culinary program is touted by the line as "The Finest Cuisine at Sea" under the tutelage of Jacques Pépin, executive culinary director and master chef. Complimentary specialty dining is included in cruise fares on Oceania sailings. Pricing also covers airfare, still and sparkling water, specialty teas and coffees, soft drinks, and Wi-Fi on the ship.

Oceania's "OLife Choice" package provides additional value to your cruise with 2-for-1 cruise fares, free round-trip airfare and airport transfers – plus one free amenity you'll choose out of eight complimentary shore excursions, a beverage package or up to $800 in shipboard credit.

Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity offers special rates and packages throughout the year that save money over a la carte pricing – and elevate your onboard experience to be more inclusive. You'll be able to access the best deal on the added perks if you book the upgraded package before you sail, saving up to 40 to 50 percent of the actual cost.

The line's "All-Included" package bundles the most popular add-ons for cruisers: a standard beverage package for alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks, unlimited basic Wi-Fi, and gratuities for the staff and crew. Pricing depends on the stateroom or suite category and sailing.

There are other options when booking a cruise with Celebrity to create a more upscale and all-inclusive experience. Guests staying in all-suite The Retreat have exclusive access to a sundeck (on select ships), a lounge and Luminae – a private restaurant that features Global Culinary Ambassador Daniel Boulud at the helm. Guests of The Retreat booking the "All-Included" package receive a premium beverage package, premium unlimited Wi-Fi, gratuities and an onboard credit.

If you book AquaClass accommodations, you'll also have access to complimentary amenities and perks, such as unlimited access to the SEA Thermal Suite, discounts on spa treatment packages and complimentary fitness classes. In addition, you'll also find a bottle of sparkling wine upon arrival (by request) and two bottles of water refreshed daily in your room. AquaClass guests also have exclusive access to the restaurant Blu. You can add the "All-Included" package to your booking, which will include the Classic Drinks Package, basic Wi-Fi and gratuities.

Passengers who want to book this "All-Included" package and are sharing a stateroom or suite will need to book the same package.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian also offers promotional fares and special deals throughout the year that feature similar amenities and perks to what you'll find on an all-inclusive cruise. The "Free at Sea" deal bundles discounts on the cruise, free specialty dining, unlimited open bar privileges, shore excursion credits, savings on Wi-Fi access, discounts on the third and fourth guests in the stateroom, and a 2-for-1 deal on airfare.

"Free at Sea Plus" takes the package up a notch with a more comprehensive beverage selection, including top-shelf cocktails, Champagne by the glass, bottles of select premium wines at dinner and signature Starbucks coffee drinks. This option also includes unlimited Wi-Fi, additional nights of specialty dining and shore excursions.

Prices for both packages on Norwegian Cruise Line will depend on the dates, length and destination of the cruise.

Holland America Line

Holland America Line's "Have It All Premium Cruise Package" is available to book for cruises six days or longer, excluding the line's Grand Voyages. The benefits vary depending on the length of the trip but include credits for shore excursions; the Signature Beverage Package; specialty dining at Tamarind, Pinnacle Grill or Canaletto; and a Wi-Fi Surf Package. The cost starts at $50 a day per person.

An early booking bonus for this package includes an Elite Beverage Package upgrade, covered crew appreciation charges and a premium Wi-Fi upgrade. Holland America has other special promotions throughout the year. One of these is an early booking bonus of up to $400 in onboard credit per stateroom for Mariner Society members.

Princess Cruises

"Princess Plus" and "Princess Premier" packages offer guests two options to upgrade their onboard amenities from the standard Princess Cruises plan, which covers accommodations, dining, entertainment and the line's signature MedallionClass experience.

"Princess Plus" perks include a beverage package with drinks up to $15 each, Wi-Fi on one device per guest, gratuities for the crew, two premium desserts a day (think hazelnut gelato at the onboard gelateria), two fitness classes per cruise (such as Pure Barre or YogaSix) and unlimited trips to the juice bar. The cost is $60 per day per person for this middle-tier package.

Additional benefits of the highest-tier option, at $80 per person per day, include the Premier Beverage Package, which covers drinks up to $20 each, and Wi-Fi for up to four devices per guest. Other features of the "Princess Premier" upgrade are two specialty meals, a photo package, Princess Prizes, reserved theater seating and a Medallion accessory.

Where to put wine - carry on or checked luggage?

We will be purchasing wine for our cruise this Saturday in FLL.

We are allowed 2 bottles per cabin?

Should we put it in our carry on or our checked luggage?

Definitely carry-on. You are allowed to bring this on board and the process through security is normally very easy because they can see the bottle. If you put it in checked luggage, they scan the bag and see two bottles of something....so they open the luggage and check it out and probably call you down to the "naughty room" to determine if these are in addition to what you might have carried on.

If you put them in checked luggage you have to go to the naughty room, and they might not believe you didn't bring your limit in your checked luggage. Then you have to get your luggage to your cabin. Definitely bring it in your carry on.

As stated, carry on.

You are allowed 1 x 750 ml bottle per person of drinking age. This can be 2 bottles as you mention, but could be 1, 3 or 4 bottles depending on how many drinking age adults are in the cabin.

We put one bottle in each person's checked bag and carry on two more. Never had any problems.

I know that on this forum everyone says carry on but our experience two weeks ago was that we flew to the cruise port with our wine in our checked luggage. We forgot all about it .

We received our (opened) luggage in our cabin with a note inside saying that they had noted the wine and that if we had also checked in wine upon boarding (we hadn't) $15/bottle would be added to our onboard accounts.

Since we hadn't checked in any wine at boarding we never received any charges and everything was fine.

I've carried wine on multiple times in a 2-bottle carrier, and never had a formal "check-in" of the bottles, even after showing it to the Princess staff.

Thrak

We pack it in special bags for the flight and then remove it to our carry on luggage before boarding. We always take our two bottles and have never had the stickered or in any way identified. A couple of times they have scanned the carry on and not even mentioned the obvious bottle of wine.

At the port terminal, better on carry-on for faster checking by Princess staff who screen.

Put it in your carry on.

The vote is in and carry-on wins. :).

Carry- on for sure.

Can you tell me what those special bags are called and where i can purchase them? I would like to give them a try on our next cruise. Thanks

Was your luggage locked?

If so, did Princess break the lock?

We pack it in special bags for the flight and then remove it to our carry on luggage before boarding. We always take our two bottles and have never had them stickered or in any way identified. A couple of times they have scanned the carry on and not even mentioned the obvious bottle of wine.

They only put stickers (or stamp them) on the bottles you pay the $15 corkage charge when you are inspected before boarding.

The two "free" ones will have no stickers and, if taken to the dining room, will have the corkage fee charged there.

I also suggest you put it in your carry on. A couple of years ago I received my luggage and much to my horror when I opened it, everything was saturated with deep red wine. The worst part was, it wasn't even my wine and about half of my clothes were ruined. I tried sending it out to have it cleaned. I had a lot of brand new light and white clothing. Princess laundry didn't do anything to take care of it, even though I noted it on the slip when it was sent out. The only thing that gives me satisfaction is that I hope it ruined the clothing of the person who packed it in their checked luggage.

Was your luggage locked?   If so, did Princess break the lock?

We Lock our luggage with plastic cable ties so that they discourage a thief who is looking for quick entry but allow legit sources to cut them if necessary.

So yes, the cable ties were cut and the note inside as one has similarly been inside sometimes from the TSA.

Nothing appeared to be disturbed.

We always put our wine in our carry-on.

shepp

I would also suggest, if you have two carry-ons, putting on bottle in each. Once my husband had gone through security - without having to register the bottle he was carrying - when I was called over to check in the bottle that the scanner found in my bag. If I'd been carrying both our bottles, the situation might have been a bit more complex.

Does anyone have any recent experiences bringing on a case of wine? Heading out on a 25 day cruise, and would like to stock up before leaving. I don't really want to have to carry-on, but could get a luggage rack if I have to. I thought I read that they won't let you check cases of liquid anymore (at least some ports)

Anyone have tips for a case?

I've done this a few times, as recently as Nov 2016. I have a lightweight folding dolly . Strap (or bungee) a case box of wine on it and strap our small carry-on bag on top of that.

I try to make it easy to unstrap the stack to get all through the scanner. A case box will fit through the scanner.

Princess will have a table after security for you to "log in" the wine and pay corkage (on your cruise card) for more than your allotment (1 750 bottle per adult). I've heard that they don't always have the table ready if you check through early.
