Where do you depart from? We are located on the Big Island of Hawaii and depart from the Kailua Pier in the heart of Kailua Kona on the west side approximately six miles south from Keahole Kona Airport.

What if I’ve never snorkeled before? We specialize in accommodating those who are new to snorkeling and non swimmers. We offer “Snorkeling 101” for beginners or those wanting a refresher course. Our location is a protected bay that offers calm pool like conditions and we offer an array of flotation water toys including: ski vests, life jackets, noodles, sea view boards, boogie boards and inner-tubes. Our Captain’s and Crew are First Aid, CPR and Life Guard certified. There are always at least 3 designated Life Guards who are on watch while anyone is in the water.

Do you have prescription masks? Yes, we offer masks with built in prescription lenses ranging from -1.5 to -7.0 at no additional charge.

Can I bring my own snorkel gear? While we encourage our guests to bring their own mask, fins and snorkels we DO NOT allow the use of full-face masks on our excursions aboard the vessel, Kanoa II. During snorkeling activity, the need for more oxygen requires us to breathe faster. With a full-face mask, some of the exhaled carbon dioxide may not fully exit the device and it is possible to breathe in the contaminated air that has potential to lead to unconsciousness and fatalities.

As a result of many full-faced mask incidents in Hawaii, many snorkel tour operators, SCUBA companies in the State of Hawaii have prohibited the use of full-face masks including Hawaii Ocean Project, Snorkel Bobs, and Pride of Maui to name a few. We thank you for your understanding.

Do you offer wetsuits? Yes, we offer rental wetsuits. Our water temperature ranges from about 78 – 82 degrees. Most of our guests are comfortable with there swim suits or a rash guard to keep them from getting chilled, however we understand that some get chilled more than others and have these suits available for an additional charge of $8.00 for a wetsuit top and $12.00 for a shorty wetsuit. (tax included)

Can you accommodate Wheelchairs? Yes, Body Glove Cruises is wheelchair friendly, our customized boarding ramp, with portable extensions accommodates all wheelchairs including manual, electric and scooters. The lower deck of the 65′ catamaran is fully accessible from bow to stern including tables and restrooms. We also limited handicapped parking on the Kailua Pier where we depart for our ocean adventures. To obtain pier parking access please travel with your handicapped parking placard and when making your reservation let our team know your parking needs. Passes are limited and issued on a first come and first serve basis.

Do you have bathrooms or showers on board? Yes, we have three large bathrooms and 2 outdoor fresh water showers on our boat.

I have special dietary needs, can you accommodate me? For those requiring special dietary needs, we provide Gluten free, Vegan, Vegetarian requests at no extra charge with 48 hours notice.

Scheduled times and menu items are subject to change, based on season and items available.

What should I bring with me? For our snorkel dolphin adventure, we recommend you bring your suit, towel and sunglasses. If you wish to SCUBA, or wish to purchase cocktails or retail items such as underwater cameras or GoPros, we recommend you bring extra cash or a credit card. If you are joining us for our Historical Dinner Cruise, we recommend a light weight jacket and comfortable flat shoes. We accept all major credit cards.

Can we go ashore during our cruise? No, in order to protect the sensitive coral reefs, marine shoreline and the safety of our guests no one is allowed to climb onto land. Each vessel will act as your private island allowing you to come and go as you please while you enjoy your day at sea.

Where will I find free parking? You are welcome to park for free at our office located one block away from the Kailua Pier. You may park at the Hotel King Kamehameha which is closer however, they charge by the hour. If you require handicapped parking there are two stalls located in the cul-de-sac in front of the Kailua Pier but come early as they are used frequently. We also have access to pier parking however, it is by reservation only and you must have a handicapped placard to obtain it. Please ask one of our team members for more details when you are making your reservation for your ocean adventure.

Will we see whales? The best opportunity to see whales is between late December and late March when the Humpback Whales migrate to Hawaii from the north Pacific. During that time of year, we offer daily Whale Watching cruises and guarantee sightings or come again Free! There are several other species of whales that live in Hawaiian waters year around and are occasionally seen during one of our cruises.

Will we see dolphins? There is a 98% chance of seeing dolphins all year around from our boat as they enjoy riding our wake. On rare occasions they come to visit us at our snorkel location. Dolphin sightings are guaranteed or come again for free on our Deluxe Snorkel & Dolphin Watch.

Do you provide hotel pick-ups? We do not provide hotel pick-ups. Our vessel departs from down-town Kailua Kona, at the north end of Alii Drive, from the Kailua Pier. Taxis, Uber and Lyft are options for transportation if you’re staying outside of walking distance.

Sunset Dinner Cruises

  • While all of the Big Island dinner cruises will have some sort of indoor area, it is recommended that you bring a light jacket or sweater to wear once the sun goes down. While Hawaii is quite warm and temperate, it can become a bit chilly out on the water once the sun has set.
  • Depending on the ocean conditions and the size of the boat used for your Kona sunset dinner cruise, it is recommended that you wear flats or low heeled shoes for your safety. Also be sure to double check if your boat is a "barefoot cruise" since these dinner cruises will require you to remove your shoes before boarding.
  • Although there is no dress code for Big Island sunset cruises, most guests enjoy taking this opportunity to wear aloha attire or resort casual wear.
  • The sunset dinner cruises on sailing catamarans will often have a lounging net to relax on during your tour. You might get splashed if you sit on the net, so be careful when you are in the area.
  • Hold on tight! When you are cruising, keep on hand on the boat at all times to make sure you don’t slip and fall.
  • It is customary to give the captain and crew a gratuity if you feel they did an excellent job, and cash tips are always appreciated.

Latest reviews of Sunset Dinner Cruises

Perfect little dinner cruise.

My husband and I were looking for a romantic way to cap off our week in Hawaii, and this was the perfect cruise for us. We were looking for something “quintessentially” Hawaiian and what is more iconic than a sunset dinn ... more er cruise? We are also both big history buffs, so we booked this tour based on the descriptions about the knowledgeable captain and crew, and they did not disappoint! They were full of commentary and stories about their island, and very patient answering all of our stupid questions. Mahalo and aloha, wish we could stay there! [Reviewed by HawaiiActivities.com Staff]

Had an amazing evening.

Really enjoyed the dinner, we were nervous but it was soooo delicious!!

Totally Entertaining

Staff was terrific at all levels; dock staff, wait staff, bar tenders, historian, musician, & Captain. Everyone was upbeat, personable, courteous, professional, and entertaining. Food was excellent and the drinks were ... more generous. The captain was very personable and entertaining. Mother-nature provided us with a pod of pilot whales to observe, while keeping a safe distance. Historian was fabulous, giving everyone a much better appreciation and respect for the Hawaiian culture. The music got everyone rocking and rolling with the motion of the boat. A great selection of songs that had the passengers engaged in song. Can't say much more. We loved it, would do it again, and would highly recommend it to everyone. It was a 3 hour tour that was well worth it.

Lovely Evening

The food was good, the DJ and our tour guide was excellent.

Had a blast!

It was a nice experience. The service was outstanding as the whole crew was very polite and always ready to assist. The ride itself was a bit rough.. not sure off it was just on that day due to the wind and current being ... more strong or the captain was driving too fast lol.. but I did get a bit dizzy. The food Wass tasty and the views, info and music were also on point.

Such a cool experience!

Amazing views, good food, and lots of history to learn about hawaii

We really enjoyed this excursion! Our very knowledgeable and personable guide Amy, did a fantastic job explaining everything. Her narrative was informative and well-presented. Lots of room inside the boat, saw many different species of fish and coral. Would highly recommend this tour. We noticed not many people tipped, please consider a tip if you enjoyed the tour, they appreciate it.

Fun and informative little adventure that is well worth the reasonable price. Amy who narrated our tour did a great job educating and explaining what we explored! Nice for all ages.

Thank you so very much for making our trip to spread my papas ashes memorable. Thank you for videoing it so we will always have the time to look back on. I will definitely be recommending you to everyone I know.

Eden was an excellent guide! Very knowledgeable and fun. Answered all questions and engaged with my kids when they shared their knowledge. Small tour made it feel personal, and great value for money for the time and expertise.

Lots of fun to see fish with my family, some of whom were uncomfortable scuba diving. The crew was friendly and views incredible.

The boat was very clean, and prepped for our ashes-scattering. Amy was very helpful, and responded to questions I e-mailed her either the same day, or the next. She was very informative, telling us where the boat was going to go, how we could scatter the ashes, and telling us about fish we saw through the glass bottom. The captain was able to get us over reefs that were very close to shore, even with strong currents. Great boat, great weather, great crew. I highly recommend it!

Fantastic. This might not be for people who get sea sick easily, as the waves made it super choppy. But we had fun! Also got a small refund (which we didn’t ask for and were pleasantly surprised by) due to poor visibility in some spots. Highly recommend.

The best way to enjoy the sunset off of Kona and Waikoloa is during a sunset sail cruise. Head onto the glossy ocean water and see the sky change colors around you.

sunset views from the oceanfront in Hawaii

What is a sunset cruise in Kona, Hawaii?

A sunset cruise in Kona, Hawaii, is a boat excursion that takes you along the stunning coastline of Kona while you enjoy the breathtaking sight of the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean. It’s a popular activity for tourists and locals alike.

Is a sunset cruise in Kona worth it?

A sunset cruise in Kona is definitely worth it, as it offers a unique and memorable experience. You get to witness the mesmerizing colors of the Hawaiian sunset while relaxing on the water. It’s a great way to unwind, enjoy the coastal scenery, and create lasting memories.

How long do sunset cruises typically last in Kona?

Sunset cruises in Kona can vary in duration, but most last around two to three hours. This allows you to enjoy the sunset without feeling rushed.

What can I expect to see during a sunset cruise in Kona?

During a sunset cruise in Kona, you can expect to see the beautiful Kona coastline, the vast Pacific Ocean, and, of course, the stunning sunset itself. You may also encounter marine life, such as dolphins, turtles, and, occasionally, whales (season-dependent).

Are food and drinks provided on sunset cruises?

Many sunset cruises in Kona offer complimentary snacks and drinks, which can include light appetizers, tropical fruits, and non-alcoholic beverages. Some cruises also provide alcoholic beverages, but it’s best to check with the specific tour operator regarding their offerings.

Do I need to make a reservation for a sunset cruise?

I highly recommend making a reservation for a sunset cruise, especially during the peak tourist season. Popular cruises can fill up quickly, so booking in advance ensures you secure your spot and can plan your evening accordingly.

What should I wear on a sunset cruise in Kona?

Dress comfortably and in layers. The ocean breeze can be cool, so it’s a good idea to bring a light jacket or sweater. Don’t forget sunscreen and sunglasses, as the sun can still be intense during the late afternoon.

Is it safe to take children on a sunset cruise?

Most sunset cruises in Kona are family-friendly, but it’s essential to check with the cruise operator about age restrictions and suitability for young children. Some cruises may have age limits for safety reasons.

Can I bring my own food or drinks on a sunset cruise?

Many cruise operators do not allow outside food or drinks, as they often provide refreshments onboard. Check with the specific cruise you choose for their policy on bringing your own refreshments.

Kona, Hawaii, enjoys beautiful sunsets year-round, but the best time to take a sunset cruise might depend on personal preference. The weather is generally pleasant, so you can enjoy a cruise at any time. Some people prefer the warmer summer months, while others enjoy the quieter atmosphere of the off-season. At Body Glove we are fully committed to the principle of sustainability and all it entails. This idea is not only about what we do now, or what we have done in the past. It’s about striving to become more sustainable over time, examining and re-examining our processes to find new ways to reduce our impact on the environment.

What Sets Body Glove Apart from Other Tour Companies?

private dinner cruise kona hawaii

Body Glove Cruises Designated a Kuleana Green Business!

Body Glove Cruises is proud to be recognized as a Kuleana Green Business by the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce. The Kuleana Green Business Program recognizes and honors businesses who promote environmental responsibility and implement sustainable business practices throughout Hawaii.

In Hawaiian, the word “kuleana” means responsibility. Businesses designated Kuleana Green are those who recognize and understand their responsibility to create and sustain positive environmental impacts within their communities. As businesses and individuals, they maintain high standards and a strong commitment to their communities and the world around them.

Extensive criteria must be met before being recognized as a Kuleana Green business, including environmental, social and economic sustainability. The business must prove responsible interaction with the environment that avoids depletion or degradation of natural resources, and their business model must allow for long-term environmental quality.

One way Body Glove Cruises implements their sustainability practices is by the elimination of plastic straws. Although small, plastic straws are seldom recycled. And while they make up a small percentage of ocean plastic, their small size makes them significant foes of marine animals. They are often consumed by fish and can become lodged in the nostrils of sea turtles. Body Glove Cruises uses only paper straws and educate their guests about not using plastic straws to help save the oceans.

According to the National Park Service, Americans alone use 500 million straws a day! Body Glove Cruises understands plastic straws are completely unnecessary and we don’t need straws to consume beverages.

Body Glove Cruises is also proud to be the only boat in the United States certified by the Green Restaurant Association. At Body Glove Cruises, we are passionate about sharing the natural beauty of Hawaii with visitors from around the world. Our company understands that their future success is dependent upon a clean, healthy and sustainable environment.

Top-Rated Kona Snorkel Trips, Boat Tours & Whale Watching in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii!

The Explorer snorkel trip is one for serious snorkelers. This is NOT a booze/party boat atmosphere, if you want that, get on the big catamaran. What you get instead is a small pontoon boat with 2 big outboards that flies over the water to sites the big boats can't access. You get to do 3 dives instead of 1, and there's no crowd in the water. We were the only boat in one of our stops. The crew were super friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable and customize the trip to the conditions and the divers desires. We also got a nice sandwich for lunch and saw dozens of pilot whales. We loved it.

Great cruise! The staff was wonderful, super helpful, and fabulous customer service. Everything that was advertised about the cruise was true and they also provided other water equipment for those who are not adept at snorkeling.

The ride was really smooth!I loved the wind in my hair; it was like a little mini blow-dry between snorkel stops, haha! It felt great on this warm day. It was really fun to have multiple places to explore in the water. Sitting on the side of the boat to enjoy the sunshine after each snorkel stop was so lovely. Lunch was great, and the staff could not have been any more kind and friendly. They had a great selection of craft soft drinks, water and coconut water that they offered us all day. I highly recommend the Body Glove snorkel trip for an unforgettable adventure and enjoyable boat ride along the beautiful Kona coast. It felt like we were out there all day, but still got back in time to have another activity planned or do some relaxing in the afternoon.

body glove dolphin kona hawaii

One of the best activities on the island for groups and families! We saw manta rays, dolphins, and flying fish. Great presentation from the staff naturalist. Sunset cruise with Hawaiian cultural speaker and local Hawaiian singer made it top notch for us.
