Romantic things to do in Amsterdam, where a coffee shop isn’t necessarily a place to get coffee? No way.

Amsterdam is often known–rather against its will!–as either a major party destination or a stodgy historic city and, therefore may not be the first to come to mind when you’re planning a romantic getaway.

Plot twist: the capital city of the Netherlands has so much romance to it if you know where to look!

Anything from high-end edgy escapades to idle strolls alongside picturesque canals is available to you here; there’s something for every romantic taste. An Amsterdam couples holiday is absolutely possible, and we’ve got more suggestions than you could have imagined.

Romantic things to do in Amsterdam

Stroll by the canals.

A picturesque Amsterdam canal view with boats moored alongside, framed by lush green trees and historic townhouses

Amsterdam’s iconic canals and canal houses date back centuries, and they’re a timeless symbol of the city itself.

If you find the right canal, a hand-in-hand stroll can be terribly romantic–head away from Amsterdam Centraal and venture towards Prinsengracht, for example, for a chance to enjoy a somewhat quieter ramble away from the usual crowds in the city center, while still being able to view lovely old canal homes.

Brouwersgracht is another canal with huge romantic potential. It’s strung with several flower-adorned bridges and lined with leafy trees and lots of picturesque houseboats.

Once the street where plenty of prosperous Dutch merchants lived, the houses of Brouwersgracht are stately and attractive and offer lots of scope for daydreaming while you roam. Canals can be some of the most romantic spots in Amsterdam–don’t count them out.

See the view from the A’DAM LOOKOUT

Aerial view of the A'DAM Lookout observation deck with the 'Hello, I'm A'DAM' greeting and visitors enjoying panoramic city views

Once you’re done with your wandering through cobbles and canals, pivot to the modern age at the A’dam Lookout on Overhoeksplein.

This is the highest point in Amsterdam, so the views here are quite literally unparalleled–at night, the twinkling lights of the city spread out under your feet like a romantic carpet of stars.

Brave couples will hop into the Over the Edge swing and hold hands as they dangle 100 meters over Amsterdam… and then maybe settle their nerves afterward with drinks at Ma’dam Skybar .

Explore Jordaan

Iconic Amsterdam architecture with a row of colorful, narrow houses reflected in the calm canal waters at dusk

Trendy Jordaan was once a working-class neighborhood, but now it is known for shopping, music, and the arts. Here, the streets are narrow, the tiny canals plentiful, the markets quirky, and the charm off the charts.

Jordaan is packed with delicious little foodie haunts, so this is where you go to hold hands and swap kisses over brunch. Then you can explore the streets and, if you’re lucky, find one of Jordaan’s vanishingly rare courtyard gardens, or hofjes .

These tiny gems are lovely little oases of calm in a busy city, and there aren’t many left that are open to the public, so it’s a real treat when you stumble across one of these romantic places in Amsterdam.

Visit the Hortus Botanicus

Lush greenery in the Hortus Botanicus of Amsterdam, with a variety of plants and a large greenhouse in the background

Why give flowers to a loved one when you can admire over 6,000 species of living plants with them?

Amsterdam’s Hortus Botanicus started its life in the 17th century as a medicinal garden, but today, it’s bursting with all kinds of plants, both typical and unusual. It’s a beautiful nature retreat nestled into a pocket of rare Amsterdam green space, a perfect place to visit for botanic-minded romantics.

The glasshouses, café, and narrow leafy paths make for a dreamy little escape from the city; an ideal itinerary stop on an Amsterdam couples holiday.

An early summertime visit here is best when the flowers are blooming and the trees are draped in festoons of their own greenery.

Dine on a terrace

The most Dutch thing anyone can do is have a coffee or a meal on a terrace. Any time the weather is nice (and quite often when it’s not), you’ll see outdoor café tables packed with people enjoying fresh air and delicious food.

As far as couples things to do in Amsterdam, this is an easy and fun activity!

Amsterdam has plenty of cafés and restaurants with terraces to choose from, of course–the most romantic option of course will be one on a canal, so you can watch the boats go by while you dine.

Have a drink on a rooftop bar

A close-up of a chilled beer glass with Amsterdam's iconic skyline in the background, capturing the essence of the city at sunset

Finished with your terrace dinner? Time to get your feet back off the ground and head upwards: Amsterdam boasts a number of rooftop bars offering refreshing cocktails and stunning views.

One newer one is LuminAir at the Doubletree by Hilton–the interior area is designed to reflect the sky outdoors, while their signature cocktail menu includes drinks inspired by the different intensities of visible light.

No matter which rooftop you choose, relax into couch cushions with a sophisticated beverage or two and cuddle like the lovebirds you are while admiring your birds-eye view of Amsterdam’s canals and churches.

Rent a canal boat

A leisurely boat ride on Amsterdam's scenic canals, showcasing the historic architecture and bridges under a clear blue sky

You can’t miss out on a romantic canal boat tour of Amsterdam. On a sunny summer day, a leisurely sail through the city is peak romance. Pack a bag with snacks and cool drinks, and hop aboard for the ultimate Amsterdam couples holiday experience.

And you have options! You can fulfill your captain fantasies by renting a boat to steer yourself or leave the cruise in the hands of a capable skipper so that you can get snuggly with your paramour.

Visit de Poezenboot

A curious ginger cat meowing directly at the camera with a playful expression, set against a blurred wooden backdrop

Are you a boat and cat-loving couple? Rejoice–you can visit sweet rescue kitties at de Poezenboot , a floating cat sanctuary on the Singel in Amsterdam. What’s more romantic than booping a few feline snoots on a boat together?

Many of the cats of de Poezenboot are available for adoption if you live in the Netherlands, or you can donate funds to help the rescue continue to care for their floating furry friends. Animal-loving romantics will be in absolute heaven here!

Relax in Vondelpark

Ornate black and gold wrought iron gate with 'Vondelpark' inscription, leading into Amsterdam's famous public park shaded by trees

The weather in the Netherlands can be a little unpredictable sometimes, so when there’s a nice day happening, you’ll find couples canoodling in parks all over the country.

In the capital, the Vondelpark is the biggest and best-known park and one of the most perfect romantic places in Amsterdam.

If you love riding a bike, rent one or two and spend some time cycling through the winding paths. Then, lay down a blanket and read or picnic alongside the park’s meandering lake. It’s a beautiful way to while away a few loving hours.

Attend a cooking class

An engaging cooking class in action with multiple chefs sautéing dishes in pans over a stove, creating a dynamic culinary atmosphere.

They do say that the way to someone’s heart is through the stomach, so why not put that adage to the test and take a cooking class together?

From traditional Dutch treats like pannekoeken to non-Dutch offerings like sushi workshops, there’s something for every taste and skill level in Amsterdam.

And if you’d rather not do the cooking, you can always take a food tour like this one through Jordaan and enjoy lots of tasty bites and a culinary education.

Enjoy a bike ride

Point of view shot of a person cycling through Amsterdam's cobbled streets with a bouquet of tulips in the bike's front basket.

The very most Dutch thing you can do in the Netherlands is to ride a bike everywhere–wherever you look in Amsterdam, you’ll see dozens of bikes tethered to bridges, parked outside of restaurants, and zooming along the city’s many bike paths.

There are two ways you can cycle like a Dutch couple: rent one bike and have your sweetie perched on the back rack while you pedal, or rent two bikes and cycle side by side, hands on each other’s shoulders.

But you may feel safest simply riding without contact, and that’s fine, too!

Buy flowers at Bloemenmarkt

The colorful and bustling Bloemenmarkt, Amsterdam's floating flower market, with a variety of flowers displayed in glasshouse stalls.

What isn’t romantic about a floating flower market? The Bloemenmarkt is unique not only in the Netherlands but in Europe and even the world for being the only flower market made of a series of barges.

Spend a fragrant, colorful afternoon wandering through the perfumed air of the barges, picking up pretty wooden tulip souvenirs and tasting Dutch cheeses.

Spend the night in a houseboat

A tranquil Amsterdam canal lined with houseboats and traditional Dutch houses, reflecting the serene urban lifestyle.

During one of your bike rides or couples walks through Amsterdam, you’ll notice the fleets of houseboats moored along the canals, and you may wonder, “Can we spend the night on one?”

You can indeed! There are several houseboat rental services, and all kinds of boats are available. Some can be simple and minimalistic, while others promise a plush, super romantic experience.

Whatever you choose, all of these boats have interesting histories and are often moored in areas that make it easy to reach many of Amsterdam’s top attractions.

Visit the art museums

From Rembrandt to Mondrian to Van Gogh, the Netherlands is known for its artists, and Amsterdam celebrates them in many a museum. Culturehound couples can spend several blissful days visiting all manner of art museums around Amsterdam.

The Rijksmuseum, of course, is the main museum in the city, but you mustn’t miss out on gems like the MoCo Museum, the NXT Tech Art Museum, and the Rembrandthuis.

Have a picnic

A peaceful picnic setup under cherry blossom trees in full bloom, featuring a basket, a bottle of juice, and a platter of fruits and bread

The Dutch value their outdoor time, so picnicking is a popular activity here.

Amsterdam manages to cram a surprising number of green spaces and parks into the nooks and crannies of their crowded city, so couples looking to spend some time on a blanket with some wine and cheese really do have their pick of places to go.

Many grocery stores have sections for “tapas” where you can buy finger foods like salmon rolls, deviled eggs, olives and cubes of delicious Dutch cheese, so just grab a cute reusable shopping bag, fill it with tasty treats, and hit the park of your choice for a few hours of picnicker’s bliss.

Final Thoughts: Couples things to do in Amsterdam

From museums to cats on a boat to high-flying swings over the city, there really is no shortage of romantic things to do in Amsterdam. Book yourself a long weekend away and get ready to immerse yourself in couples’ bliss–Amsterdam awaits!

Max Brown, a canalside hotel in Amsterdam, is one of the most romantic hotels for couples having a weekend trip in Amsterdam! #amsterdam #holland #netherlands

One of the most romantic hotels in Amsterdam perfect for couples on a mid-range budget is Max Brown Canal District.   This cozy canal-side hotel sits in the Jordaan and you’re likely to fall in love with the views as you exit the hotel every day!    For a luxurious stay, consider booking a room at Breiter House to take a step back in time in a 5* star apartment out of your wildest dreams.

Those looking for a modern edge will want to look across the IJ to Sir Adam , an iconic boutique hotel that sits in the A’DAM tower with stunning views over Amsterdam while adventure lovers can stay at the top of a one and only Crane Hotel Faralda , a former crane turned luxury hotel.  When you’re done enjoying the luxe life, you can bungee off the top. 😉

Romantic things to do in Amsterdam

Explore the picturesque streets of the jordaan .

Beautiful ivy covered building in Amsterdam. The Jordaan is one of the most romantic places in Amsterdam to explore! #amsterdam #travel #holland

One of my favorite things to do in Amsterdam is to wander the picturesque streets of de Jordaan.  This stunning neighborhood has the most hofjes (historic courtyards) in Amsterdam.  On Saturdays, you can browse the street market along Lindengracht or the Noordermarkt farmers market.  Click for my walking guide to the Jordaan!

Browse books at one of Amsterdam’s charming independent bookstores or at one of the book markets

For my bibliophiles, I recommend heading to one of Amsterdam’s charming independent bookstores to browse for books.   I especially love the Oudemanhuispoort book market, which is in a gorgeous alleyway that used to be used as stables.

For browsing English books, I recommend the American Book Center , which has a great selection of international and Dutch titles in English.  I love the intimate feeling of  Boekholt de Dolfijn on Haarlemmerdijk.

Snuggle up during the Amsterdam Light Festival (winter only*)

One of the most romantic things to do is snuggle with your sweetheart while enjoying the beautiful light sculptures lit up at night.  The Amsterdam Light Festival  is super lovely at night and I’d recommend going on a canal cruise that includes a warm drink.

Pilot a boat through the canals

One of my favorite experiences in Amsterdam is renting a canal boat for a private boat ride.  For only 50 euros, you can rent your own boat to enjoy with your significant other.  It’s always nice to bring own your drinks and snacks to enjoy along the way.  It’s especially romantic around sunset!

See a movie at one of Amsterdam’s beautiful art deco theatres

Beautiful art deco theatre in Amsterdam. Pathe Tuschinski is one of the best places to go on a date in Amsterdam. #travel #amsterdam

Date night at the movies is a classic.  Amsterdam has some gorgeous movie theatres perfect for a romantic night out.  My favorite theatre is Pathe Tuschinski, a stunning art deco movie theatre dating back to 1921.  From the lobby to the main theatre (Grote Zaal), every corner is beautiful.  For a little extra, splurge for the Grote Zaal where you can enjoy your own private balcony.

Hold hands while enjoying a long bike riding

This is only for advanced bikers, but it’s super romantic holding hands while bike riding. Biking in Amsterdam can be a bit dangerous, so please use caution if you’re not an experienced biker.  (I find biking late at night along the canals to be very calm and romantic.)

Sit out at a cafe with a tea/beer and people watch

On a beautiful day, everyone out is outside enjoying the good weather.  There’s nothing like a lazy afternoon letting the time pass as you soak up the romantic atmosphere, laugh, and enjoy a lovely beverage with a view. I especially love the cafes in de Jordaan during market days for people watching.

Go out dancing

Amsterdam has one of the most famous EDM events in the world: Amsterdam Dance Event.  Even if you’re not into EDM, you’ll find clubs as well as bars suited to every taste.  Whether you’re interested in taking a tango class, salsaing the night away, or dancing to indie rock, you’ll find a dance place suited to your taste.

Go hofje exploring!

Photo of Zevenkeurvorstenhofje in Amsterdam. Exploring a hofje is a thrilling experience for couples visiting Amsterdam.

One of my favorite romantic things to do in Amsterdam with my husband is to enjoy the quiet of Amsterdam’s hofjes.  These historic courtyards are often hidden from street view, so finding them is guaranteed to bring you some adrenaline and give you a moment to relax.

Browse the Christmas markets*

Although the Netherlands is not always associated with Christmas markets, December is a great time to visit Amsterdam.  Throughout the city, you’ll find charming Christmas markets where you can sample local treats, browse locally made goods, and sip on hot chocolate/gluhwein.  Similarly, you can go ice skating along the stunning canal in front of the Rijksmuseum! Click to read more about Dutch Christmas Markets.

Take a day trip to see the tulip fields outside of Amsterdam* (April)

Technically, this isn’t  in  Amsterdam, but, I sometimes get tired of exploring Amsterdam, which is why I love getting out of the city.   The tulip fields are absolutely stunning and there is something so magical about going past kilometers of them on the trains!  Unfortunately, this is seasonal, but you can enjoy the flower market if you miss tulip season.

Walk along the canals

Beautiful sunset in Amsterdam; Walking along the canals is one of the best activities for couples in Amsterdam. #amsterdam #holland #netherlands

Who can deny the beauty of Amsterdam’s canals?  If you’re an early bird, I recommend getting up early to enjoy the stunning colors of Amsterdam’s canals without the crowds.  If you’re looking for the perfect sunset spot, I recommend heading to Keizersgracht, Brouwersgracht, or Herengracht for a quiet sunset.  Still, Oudezijds Voorburgwal has its charms (above!)

Head to a concert or opera

For a dose of culture, make reservations in advance for a concert or a ballet.  If you forget, consider stopping by the Concertgebouw for a free lunchtime classical concert on Wednesdays.  Similarly, many churches, including the famous Westerkerk holds free organ concerts on Friday afternoons.  (Check the schedule.)

Go for a long romantic bike ride to one of the small former villages in Amsterdam

Not many people realize that Amsterdam is much bigger than the historic center!  If you head over to Amsterdam Noord , you can go on a scenic bike ride towards two former villages that will make you wonder how far you’re away from the Red Light District.  Ransdorp is super cute!

Head to the Poezenboot for some kitty love

We both really love cats.  One of my favorite budget dates in Amsterdam involves coming to the Poezenboot, a cat shelter on a canal boat.  This cat shelter is full of adorable cats who are ready to be adopted.  Even if you’re just visiting Amsterdam, you can still play with the cats and get a pet from some of the cats.  (I recommend donating a few euros!) Be sure to come early as there are limited entries and they are timed.

Admire art at one of Amsterdam’s many museums

Photo of beautiful cat in Museum van Loon, one of Amsterdam's secret places to visit. Browsing a museum is always romantic as a date! #Amsterdam

Can you really not mention the museums in Amsterdam? Although Jacob and I have differing taste in art, there’s something romantic and relaxing about browsing art.  As Jacob isn’t the biggest fan of the Dutch masters, we typically end up at the Stedelijk museum or FOAM, which specializes in modern art and photography respectfully.

You can also peek into the smaller museums, which are often aristocratic homes turned museums.  I love sitting in the garden at Museum van Loon, which has a friendly neighborhood cat who’s often there!

Go for a long walk or cycle through one of the parks

When it’s summer, there’s nothing like taking a long strong through Amsterdam’s parks.  I love Vondelpark, however, I also like Westerpark for a change of scenery.  This urban park is the home to the Westergasfabriek, a former factory turned urban hotspot, so when you’re tired of walking, you can enjoy a cold (or warm beverage) at one of the cozy cafes.

Do like the locals and bring your own lunch (or beer) with you to enjoy in the park. I find that a romantic picnic in the park is always lovely.

Go antique shopping at the IJhallen

I’m a sucker for a good antique market.  The monthly IJhallen market is a fantastic selection of goods for every budget.  For a few euros, it’s always fun browsing this with a loved one (who hopefully loves antique shopping as much as you!)  I usually have to be dragged out of here and there’s no telling what you’ll find at this charming flea market.  (Don’t be nervous about taking the ferry to NDSM/Noord Amsterdam !)

Browse the boutiques in Amsterdam’s best shopping districts

Couple enjoying shopping in the Nine Streets, one of the most romantic things to do in Amsterdam. Read your perfect couple's guide to Amsterdam.

On a slow afternoon (in good weather), I love browsing the various cute boutiques along Amsterdam’s most charming shopping streets.  My go-to favorite is Haarlemmerdijk .  This street was named the best shopping street in the Netherlands a few years ago.  As soon as you pass Prinsengracht, it becomes a quiet paradise of independent boutiques.

The 9 Streets is a great place for a more upscale market.  Although this area is a bit more commercial, the Negen Straten (as it’s called in Dutch) is full of Dutch brands and independent boutiques that you won’t be able to resist stepping into. Click to read about my favorite shops in the Negen Straten.

Open champagne by the canals at Cafe de Jaren

Couple opening a bottle of champagne along the canals of Amsterdam; This is one of the most romantic things to do in Amsterdam! #amsterdam #travel

One of my favorite cafes in Amsterdam is Cafe de Jaren.  This stunning canalside cafe is in the same building where the Night Watch was originally painted.  You can sit on the edge of the water enjoying the boats pass by.  For our wedding, we opened a bottle of champagne by the canals!

Have an amazing dinner

You’ll find many fantastic restaurants in Amsterdam.  I’ve decided to highlight some especially romantic options for a very special date night although going out for a nice meal.  We generally go for a low-key dinner out, but some occasions are worth the splurge!   If you’re looking for a lovely vegetarian meal, I’d recommend heading to Hearth or Mr. & Mrs. Watson.

Another well-known restaurant is Spectrum (formerly Librije’s Zusje).  This Michelin starred restaurant is a favorite of foodies visiting Amsterdam.  Getting a reservation is not easy, but certainly, something not to forget.

One of the most romantic places to go out to dinner in Amsterdam is on Vuurtoreneiland .  This exclusive restaurant arranges a “meal in nature” in a glass building during summers.  (In winter, there’s a warm restaurant.)  All produce is locally sourced and it’s an experience in itself.  (Dinner includes a scenic boat ride to/from Amsterdam Centrum.)

Have a cocktail at a speakeasy

If you're visiting Amsterdam on a couple's weekend, be sure to go out for a drink at a speakeasy! A secret bar makes for a very romantic date night out! #travel #amsterdam

Amsterdam is full of charming cocktail bars.  Although gin is more popular than other beverages, you’ll find a number of speakeasies around the city.  I particularly enjoy World Class Room for a romantic drink hidden away from the crowds with your own personal bartender.  I also am a huge fan of Vesper , which has incredibly delicious drinks!

Have a long lazy brunch

Although brunch is a relatively new concept here, it’s been catching on rapidly.  You’ll find a number of brunch as well as lunch cafes.  For a fun romantic meal, G’s Jordaan is a blast if you’re looking for something less traditional.  Otherwise, I’d recommend heading to Coffee & Coconuts , one of my favorite brunch places ( perfect for vegans !)

Eat dessert for breakfast at one of the markets

A romantic thing to do in Amsterdam is to get dessert (stroopwafel) instead of breakfast at one of the markets! #amsterdam

I have a huge sweet tooth, so on a weekend (or a day off), it’s always lovely to head to one of Amsterdam’s markets (such as Albert Cuypmarkt) for brunch.  Share a warm stroopwafel .  (Trust me on not getting two!)

Stay in bed and order delivery

Sometimes romance is not about doing much.  Some of my favorite date nights have been home after ordering Indonesian or Surinamese food through Thuisbezorgd or Deliveroo (English) prior to enjoying a movie in.  Being in a relationship is sometimes about those lazy moments.   (If you’re staying at a hotel, room service works too!)

Linger over gluhwein at a brown bar

Girl enjoying a date at a brown bar in Amsterdam. One of the most romantic things to do in Amsterdam is to go for a jenever tasting together! #amsterdam

My go-to date in winter is heading to an atmospheric brown bar for a warm drink.  There’s nothing like cozying up in a corner while sipping on a gluhwein while enjoying a warm fire.

The brown bars in Amsterdam are not to be missed as they’re lined with gorgeous dark wood and sometimes still lit with candles. Even if you’re not a fan of alcohol, I find that sitting at a brown bar with a fresh mint tea is one of the most romantic things to do on a cold evening in Amsterdam.

Go for a chocolate tasting

Although Belgian chocolate is more famous than Dutch chocolate, you better believe that there are some great chocolatiers in Amsterdam!  Puccini Bomboni as well as  Vanroselen are great places to taste a couple of chocolates from Amsterdam’s best.  If you’re on a lower budget, stop by  Westergasfabriek to check out Tony’s Chocolonely flagship store to try their latest chocolate experiments.

Have a craft beer or jenever tasting

As a lover of craft beer, it’s always a date when we decide to try out a new craft brewery.  My favorite craft breweries in Amsterdam are Oedipus and Brouwerij ‘T IJ.  A tasting menu comparing your notes is always a blast.

If you’re looking for something different, head to  Wynand Fockink Proeflokaal and Spirits for an intimate experience tasting the best jenevers that the Netherlands has to offer.   Click to read about other tasting rooms in Amsterdam.

I was visiting my girlfriend and took her on the walking tour. Rocco was absolutely amazing and helped me plan a surprise Amsterdam proposal at the end. The night and tour were magical and Rocco has really put in a lot of effort. I would highly recommend these to any couple out there who want to make a day feel magical.

Rocco gave us a private Amsterdam Proposal tour, made recos, and coordinated with my photographer to make the day Unforgettable.

I had the pleasure of working with Rocco over email to plan a very special evening... proposing to my longtime girlfriend. As we are currently living in California and had never been to Amsterdam, I put a lot of trust in Rocco and he exceeded all of my expectations. Long story short.... she said Yes! And Rocco went above and beyond to make our evening one that we will not soon forget. His delivery, warm ambiance, and attention to detail makes the romantic Amsterdam Proposalcanal tour one worth taking. Highly recommend! Thank you Rocco!

I booked the boat to propose to my partner and the experience didn’t disappoint the boat is great very comfortable and modern on the inside. Our Captain Rocco was great very informative and professional throughout. I could go on and on.. but all in all it was great the weather was unforgettable we got it all Rain, thunder and lightning this made the Amsterdam Proposal even more special and I will definitely be booking again when I return in the summer.

I cannot recommend Rocco highly enough for an Amsterdam Proposal. When I put the idea of proposing to my girlfriend back in January, he called me up and spent half an hour going over with me how to make the experience as special as possible. He carried out the plan perfectly, with food, drinks and music to match the night, as I popped the questions and my partner said Yes! He was happy to take pictures and relay stories of Amsterdam to us throughout, which made the night even more memorable... Do not hesitate to book, you won't regret it.

Why did we create this Marriage Proposal in Amsterdam?

We believe that Amsterdam is a city of Love. When people think of Amsterdam, they think of alcohol, drugs and the Red Light District but fail to realize that the city has a hidden treasure of beautiful spots, picturesque bridges, historic houses and more than 165 canals that make this city truly romantic. This scenic backdrop makes Amsterdam a wonderful background for probably one of the most important moments in your life. After all, you are making a life-long commitment! That is why we want to help you to make this day special, but above all to create a moment exactly as you imagine it. We have already helped to create over 100 marriage proposals and so far they have all said YES. And we like to keep it that way! We hope we can make this day extra special for you too.

What will you see on this Amsterdam Canal Proposal Cruise?

For this Marriage Proposal Cruise, we have selected a special route that takes you along the most beautiful canals and iconic buildings, to bring the romance of Amsterdam to life. We will share stories of love and romance related to the main highlights of Amsterdam. If you have a wish to see a specific part of the city, we can adjust the route so that it is exactly the way you want it. Several highlights on this route are the Seven Bridges of Love, the building where the first gay marriage took place, the Wooden Love Bridge (Skinny Bridge) and many other beautiful highlights.

Where is the best place to propose to your loved one?

There are many wonderful places in Amsterdam where you can propose to the love of your life. Based on our experience, here are a few suggestions. The Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge) is a beautiful wooden bridge on the river Amstel with the legend that if you sail underneath and kiss each other, you will be together forever. It is a meaningful bridge and romantic location. The only downside is that it can sometimes be a bit busier and therefore not very private. The second location for your marriage proposal is at the end of the Seven Bridges of Love. Here is a small canal with a nice view of the two towers of the Rijksmuseum. This is the place we recommend because it is quiet and you have all the privacy you want for a marriage proposal.  A third suggestion is on one of the 7 bridges in Amsterdam. We will then stop in the middle of the seven bridges and get off to walk to the bridge. This is ideal if you want to photograph your proposal. You have a beautiful background and therefore ideal for taking beautiful photos when you propose to your loved one. We have a number of photographers who specialise in marriage proposals and with whom we regularly work.

What are the possibilities for this Marriage Proposal Cruise?

The Private Marriage Proposal Canal Tour has been specially created to realize exactly what you want. We can arrange a live violinist or guitar player or maybe you want a singer on board. A beautiful bouquet of roses or champagne. You may want everything to be captured by a photographer or videomaker. We go to great lengths to make this day exactly as you imagine it. Let us know your special request and we will make sure it will happen.

When is the best time to book a proposal canal tour in Amsterdam?

My personal opinion is that Amsterdam is beautiful in a different way at different times of the day.In the morning it is calm and quiet on the canals with a few boats. In the afternoon it is usually nice and busy (especially on weekends) and often warmer on the water

At the end of the day, the city calms down and you can often see a beautiful sunset. In the evening/night, the city is beautifully lit with lights on all bridges. This is the time when true romance and magic come to life. Let us know what you prefer.
