◆ Guests requiring manual or motorized wheelchairs -Those with manual or motorized wheelchairs may enter the attraction area in their chairs. -Guests using manual or motorized wheelchairs should see an attendant for assistance. The attraction crew will take you to the viewing area. “Sing on Tour” Opens April 18, 2019, at Universal Studios Japan

Universal Studios Japan’s new Sing On Tour show will debut on April 18, 2019 . The “live show” will feature Buster Moon the koala and the stars of Sing performing pop songs from the hit movie.

The new Illumination Theatre will use new cutting-edge lighting and animatronics, alongside live performers, to bring the characters to life. Check out the TV ad for the show.

Spring 2019 is a great time to visit Universal Studios Japan, with the arrival of  Sing On Tour, as well as the Hogwarts Magical Celebration projection show and the Universal Easter Celebration .

Top Three Shows Worth the Wait at Universal Studios Beijing

Jingkids brings you the inside scoop on Universal Studios Beijing, before it’s open to the general public. We’ve gone through each of the lands inside the park and provided tips to make the most of your visit to Universal’s largest theme park ever! Check out our WeChat official account to see them all!

With 16 rides plus 14 shows and attractions at Universal Studios Beijing, unless you plan on spending more than a day there, you’re going to need to make some tough choices and prioritize your time. Shows may fall to the bottom of the list when faced with the appeal of popular thrills like the Decepticoaster that takes you on a 360° loop-de-loop at eye-tearing speeds, rare photo opportunities with extinct creatures ( Raptor Encounter ), and the siren song of the numerous corn dog and ice-cream stands. However, some shows are certainly just as thrilling as going on a Forbidden Journey (but minus the motion sickness if you’re prone to that), so we’re here to tell you which three shows are not to be missed and totally worth queuing up for.

The Untrainable Show : Truly a spectacle of singing, live stunts, gorgeous costumes and props, plus top-of-the-line animatronic dragons, the Untrainable Show is the best of its kind that I have ever seen. Featuring our favorite characters from the How To Train Your Dragon series (all three films being impressive as they are), the Untrainable Show blends live-action and cutting-edge technology to transport you to the cold, cut-throat world of the Vikings. And I mean that quite literally, because the Universal Majestic Theater where the show is held, is really cold. Pro Tip: Cover up before going in.

The show is meant to take place between the first and second How To Train Your Dragon films, as Stoick is still alive. He revisits his troubled relationship with his son and the protagonist of the films, Hiccup. This time, they’re fighting over another dragon, which has resisted all their attempts to tame it, rendering it “untrainable.” Of course, our heroes eventually discover how to train this new dragon, which looks an awful lot like Valka, Hiccup’s mother’s dragon from the movies.

The Untrainable show is a visual treat, utilizing incredibly realistic video projections to simulate fire and ice. Technology and live-action blend together seamlessly, immersing audiences in all the action of a battle between the Vikings and Ice Dragon. The clever use of sketch-art drawings projected on the stage also help to relate the harrowing tale in the flashback sequence. Paired with spot-on choreography for the dance and stunt numbers, this show is a non-stop thrill ride in its own right.

The Untrainable Show takes place every hour between 2-4pm in the Universal Majestic Theatre in Hollywood.

SING On Tour: You probably already knew that a show called SING is going to boast some pretty powerful vocal performances, but one of the best things about this live show is the wonderful costumes and make up that help to create the anthropomorphic characters we came to know so well from the animated film. And indeed, movie magic comes to life and you can just about believe a piano-playing gorilla or leather jacket-clad porcupine is performing onstage.

With such a great soundtrack thanks to the movie, the show is a super fun pop music party that everyone can sing and dance (in your seats) to. SING On Tour also builds up to a climactic moment when a special guest – or should I say guests – makes a surprise appearance and saves the show. I won’t spoil the surprise for you but just look up when the moment comes! This is one show parents with young kids will definitely want to prioritize.

SING On Tour takes place every 30 minutes at the theater in Minion Land. 

WaterWorld Stunt Show

You may not have watched the film, or maybe you’re sorry that you did, but there’s no denying the WaterWorld Stunt Show at Universal Studios Beijing is one of the most popular shows at the park. There were thousands in the queue when we went to watch it, and judging from their audible gasps and applause throughout the show, it was worth the close-to-an-hour’s wait. Aside from the stunts and special effects, I was most impressed that the expat performers had memorized their Chinese scripts and were acting decently in a foreign language. If you’ve watched the WaterWorld show at any other Universal Studios, know that this is by far, the largest arena the show takes place in. Remember to stay out of the splash zone – designated by the blue seats – if you aren’t splash-proof.

The WaterWorld Show runs at 11am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm, 4pm, and 5.30pm.

“Sing on Tour” is a new, permanent live show inspired by the joyous jukebox of a film, “Sing.” The musical talent contest takes center stage again at Universal Studios Japan in a brand-new theater, jointly designed with the movie’s producers Illumination.

Teruyoshi Uchimura, voice-over actor from the Japanese version of the movie, returns to reprise his role as theater manager Buster Moon for “Sing on Tour.” This time, the animated stars will step out of the screen onto the stage to belt out some of the movie’s best songs in real life.

“Sing” topped the box office in Japan in 2017, bringing in 5 billion yen. A much-anticipated sequel to the hit movie, written and directed by Garth Jennings, is in the pipeline for 2021.

Universal Studios Japan announces Sing On Tour show

Universal Studios Japan has announced a new project in partnership with Illumination for a musical attraction with songs and characters from the movie Sing.

Sing On Tour will be located in “Minions Park”, the largest Minion Park in the world, beginning spring 2019. The stars of the film break through the two dimensional world to sing the hit songs from the movie in a dramatic live show.

The show attraction will be performed in the world’s first Illumination Theater, equipped with leading edge production quality.

Sing was released in 2016 and follows a group of anthropomorphic animals that enter a singing competition, hosted by a koala who is trying to save his theater. A sequel is scheduled for 2020.

In January, Universal Studios Japan announced four new attractions to open from spring 2018, including the world-first “UNIVERSAL SPECTACLE NIGHT PARADE: The Best of Hollywood”.

Located in Osaka, Universal Studios Japan  reported record attendance  last financial year. 14.6 million people visited the park, an increase of 700,000 in the previous year. By contrast, admissions to Tokyo’s two Disney parks fell by 0.6 percent to a just over 30 million.

This year, the results took a hit as a result of a number of extreme weather events.

What is Sing It!?

Sing It! brings together a group of a cappella singers to battle one another in round after round of surprisingly eclectic pop music. The show isn’t one that guests particularly go out of their way to watch – unlike the nearby Blues Brothers – but it’s still fun to check out in passing during your day at the parks.

Where is Sing It! located?

In  New York , which is in  Universal Studios Florida . The show actually takes place in a variety of locations across the land – most recently, you can find it on Delancey Street, in front of the Blues Brothers stage.

Sing It! – height restrictions and other factors

As a show that is performed in the open street, there aren’t any restrictions. Yay!

(Please note there is no Express Pass access.)

What are the showtimes for Sing It!?

Sing It! has around six showings daily, beginning between 9:00 and 10:00 am and starting every 60 to 90 minutes thereafter through the afternoon.

Universal Studios Marks 60th Anniversary of Backlot Tram Tours

T he famed Universal Studios Hollywood backlot tram tour took a step back in time Friday as the attraction marks its 60th anniversary, and for a limited time it will include a chance for people to step off the tram and wander onto a movie set and snap photos with some iconic props.

“The Studio Tour paved the way for the development of Universal Studios Hollywood and celebrating its 60-year milestone pays homage to its indelible impact,” Scott Strobl, executive vice president and general manager of Universal Studios Hollywood, said in a statement earlier this month announcing plans for the anniversary tribute.

“The Studio Tour is a crown jewel in our theme park portfolio and a beloved attraction for millions of guests. We are thrilled and honored to share our enthusiasm for its historic relevance with guests both new to the experience as well as those who have journeyed with us along the way.”

The celebration began Friday and will continue through Aug. 11, marking the anniversary of an attraction that began in 1964 and has been experienced by an estimated 200 million people over the years.

The park will harken back to its original “Glamor Trams,” which were colored red and white and featured ruffled awnings as they carried visitors through the backlot. Visitors on the anniversary tours will get the chance to disembark from the tram and step onto “a legendary movie set where an original, fully restored 1964 vintage Glamor Tram awaits,” according to the park.

The disembarkment area also includes a King Kong backdrop and the park’s original hanging “Jaws” shark.

Also included on the tour is a revamped version of its “Earthquake — The Big One” attraction, which officials said has “undergone a top-to- bottom renovation and will debut anew with contemporary technology and aesthetics.”

The tour also passes by the Courthouse Square — best known for its appearances in the “Back to the Future” films. An original time machine picture car will be on display in the area for photos, along with a Doc Brown character.

Also back on display will be a Tyrannosaurus Rex display originally used in promotion of the film “Jurassic World.”

In partnership with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the park will also have on display a scaled-model replica of the Hollywood Sign nestled on a hillside for photos.

Universal Studios Hollywood and the Universal Orlando Resort are bringing more blockbuster movie action to your summer vacations before next year’s Epic Universe opening. Things kicked off at Universal Studios Hollywood with the Studio Tour’s 60th anniversary and Ryan Gosling making a surprise appearance for a new, limited time pre-show based on his new movie The Fall Guy —which we have video of below!

Meanwhile, Universal Orlando is preparing to bring back some of the theme park’s legendary icons from attractions past with new ways to experience Jaws , Back to the Future , Ghostbusters , and more in new daytime and nighttime entertainment offerings beginning June 4. Additionally, DreamWorks Land is set to open on June 14, which means you can soon take up space in Shrek’s beloved swamp across from the blessedly saved-from-being-demolished E.T. Adventure .

Summer at Universal Studios Hollywood

Over the weekend io9 was invited to Universal Studios Hollywood to watch the premiere performance of The Fall Guy Stuntacular Pre-Show , performed ahead of the park’s cult fave Waterworld experience. What we weren’t aware of was that we were in for a stunt marketing surprise as Gosling—the film’s star, and a noted theme park fan—showed up to introduce it. It was a-unique-to-the-premiere stunt show, with the actor getting in some some of the action alongside director David Leitch; the performance was both meta and an homage to the stunts behind Hollywood blockbusters. It was a blast to see how the filmmakers and the theme park crew of stunt actors who work at Universal played off each other; it’s a small industry so it was really cool to see the collaboration in person. For a taste of The Fall Guy (sans Gosling, unfortunately) you can catch the pre-show all summer long before Waterworld .

Elsewhere in the park you can experience the celebration of the Studio Tour’s 60th anniversary, with new stops in the backlot. Now you can see Doc Brown and the DeLorean in Back to the Future ’s Court House Square, experience a new Earthquake section, see a T-rex, and get up close to classic red glamor tram cars with new photo ops.

Summer at Universal Studios Orlando

More blockbuster love comes to Universal Studios Orlando with new experiences that bring back iconic films. Debuting July 3 at Universal Studios Florida, The Universal Mega Movie Parade will see the return of Back to the Future , Jaws , and Ghostbusters to the parks alongside the Jurassic Park franchise,  E.T. , Illumination’s Minions, and DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls and Kung Fu Panda . It’s set to be Universal Orlando’s biggest daytime parade with 13 brand new floats celebrating beloved Universal Pictures releases. “Guests will watch in awe as they see the massive 16-foot Stay Puft Marshmallow Man atop the Ghostbusters float,” according to a press release; and there’s also going to be a “live marching drum line perform the iconic movie score of Jaws alongside a float themed to the film.” Fingers crossed for a Beetlejuice float too.

For fans of drone light shows, no less than 600 will be used during Universal Orlando’s nighttime Cinesational: A Symphonic Spectacular. Starting June 14, the new nighttime show will bring the waters of the Universal Studios Florida lagoon to life with iconic scores and scenes from blockbuster films. It will encompass Universal Orlando’s past, present, and future attractions and will feature movies like Jurassic World , Jaws, Shrek, Ghostbusters, Trolls, Back to the Future, the Universal Monsters films, Transformers, How to Train Your Dragon, E.T., Fast and Furious, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Minions, The Mummy , and King Kong (but also please, give us more Beetlejuice ) . Through the use of projection, water screens, and buildings guests will be immersed in some of the most breathtaking moments of cinema, which is what we love about the parks.

DreamWorks Land

Welcome to Shrek’s swamp and beyond! DreamWorks Land will officially open on June 14 at Universal Studios Florida. You’ll be able to visit popular DreamWorks Animation locales, including Shrek’s swamp for a meet and greet, or ride attractions based on hit films like Trolls with the family-friendly Trollercoaster. There will also be a new show,  DreamWorks Imagination Celebration, that will give families an opportunity to enjoy a multi-sensory live stage performance with some of their favorite characters.
