Bruce Springsteen torna in Italia (foto Ansa/AP)

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band return in 2023 with a series of dates - yet to be revealed - in American arenas, followed by a European tour starting on April 28 in Barcelona, and a second part of the American tour starting in the month of August.

“After six years - explains Springsteen - I'm eager to see our loyal fans again and can't wait to once again share the stage with the legendary E Street Band. See you there, next year, and even after! ”.

The confirmed stops will be in Barcelona, Dublin, Paris, Ferrara , Rome , Amsterdam, Landgraaf, Zurich, Düsseldorf, Gothenburg, Oslo, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Vienna, Munich and Monza . Additional cities in the UK and Belgium will be announced at a later date.

Three, therefore, the shows planned in Italy: Thursday 18 May 2023 at the Giorgio Bassani Urban Park in Ferrara, Sunday 21 May 2023 at the Circus Maximus in Rome and Tuesday 25 July 2023 at Prato della Gerascia, inside the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza. .

The 2023 tour dates will be the first live for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band since the conclusion of the fourteen-month "The River Tour", nominated by Billboard and Pollstar as the best tour of 2016 and ended in Australia in February 2017.

TICKETS - To facilitate and reward those who have requested a voucher for a "Barley Arts" show that has undergone changes due to the Covid-19 pandemic and has not yet used it in full, a special presale will be open on official authorized circuits Ticketone, Vivaticket and Ticketmaster. The preview sale will be active from 10 to 23:59 on Wednesday 25 May for the Ferrara and Rome stages and from 10 to 23:59 on Monday 30 May for the Monza one.

General sales will open to everyone on the same channels at 10 am on Thursday 26 May (Ferrara and Rome) and at 10 am on Tuesday 31 May (Monza), for a maximum number of four tickets per stage for each account (including those eventually purchased during presale). Of course, it will also be possible to continue using the vouchers during the general sale.

We remind you that, as per current legislation, the tickets are nominal to the user. It will be possible to make only one name change per ticket starting from 18 April 2023 (Ferrara and Rome) and from 25 June 2023 (Monza) until the morning of the day of the concert.

Springsteen pubblica in questi giorni “The legendary 1979 No Nukes concerts” , film e album che testimoniano la E Street Band in uno dei suoi momenti migliori, quello tra “Darkness on the edge of town” e “The river”.

Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band alive and well in 3-plus hours of thunderous hits

springsteen tour italia

The pent-up demand for Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band had put ardent fans on edge.

Would the Boss' energy be the same after the rocker was forced to cancel last year's show in March due to illness and then a rescheduled performance in September due to a peptic ulcer?

Did the 74-year-old still have the stamina to navigate a stage for more than three hours? To gyrate with his guitar and hit the high notes of ballads and rock classics? To remember the lyrics as he's done for more than four decades in over 1,300 concerts with the band?

The answer, from about 20,000 devotees at Sunday's concert at Nationwide Arena, was a resounding, deafening "Yes." It was the band's first show in Columbus since 2016.

The tone was set in the opening bars of "Youngstown," a nod to the Rust Belt factories that build the weaponry "that won this country's wars," but then died off to leave empty shells and unemployment. A searing guitar solo by Nils Lofgren infused the song with powerful shards of despair.

And like the canon blast after a Columbus Blue Jackets' goal, "Lonesome Days" followed, with a jarring rim shot by drummer Max Weinberg, a percussive human metronome throughout the sell-out concert that lasted about three hours and 10 minutes.

Springsteen, in a short-sleeve denim shirt, black vest and purple tie, appeared to relish the arena crowd. With eyes often closed, he channeled deeply personal songs like "The Promised Land," The Rising," and "Ghosts."

His grimacing was not from bad joints, but during his guitar solos, thrashing the strings during extended versions of favorites such as "Streets of Fire."

He didn't pause much between songs, often exchanging one guitar for another by tossing it to a stagehand, as Weinberg continued to strafe the crowd with nonstop rhythmic transitions.

During "Spirit in the Night," Springsteen graciously walked behind the stage to focus on those seated behind the band, sauntering at times for effect.

He ended up in front, resting his legs on the edge of the stage and his back against saxophonist Jake Clemons, whose uncle Clarence Clemons, also a sax player, was one of Springsteen's closest friends.

While mortality and distant youth were themes that may have resonated with the older crowd, many of whom were in high school or college when Springsteen blasted into stardom in the late 1970s and early '80s, there were also some younger fans.

Michelle Grinestaff and her husband, Jared Schuetter, brought their daughters, Claudia, 14, and Vivian, 12, both of whom had memorized many of Bruce's hits.

"She's been playing Springsteen their entire lives," said Schuetter of his wife.

Grinestaff's attraction followed her father Jerry's, a rabid fan who, two years ago died of pulmonary fibrosis. The night before his passing, she told him she really wanted him to come to last year's concert with the girls. "He said to just make sure you have a good time," she recalled, halting to wipe a tear.

She vividly recalls that Springsteen's "Racing in the Street" was playing while to spoke to her dad. She hoped she'd hear it Sunday night.

Sure enough, the concert's 19th song, "Racing in the Street," was a beautiful rendition of love, loss and redemption with exquisite interplay between Roy Bittan's piano and Charles Giordano's organ. The audience quickly silenced, seemingly in hushed awe of Springsteen's meticulous alchemy of music and lyrics, considered by many among his best work.

The Boss still is in top form, telling the audience that his little "bellyache" from last year is a memory. "It's all good now," he said. He even skipped across the stage at one point during "Hungry Heart."

Springsteen seems to thrive on the adulation, but not in a selfish manner. He's keenly aware of audience temperament. And knowing when to end a marathon show is about having empathy for the crowd, which stood most of the night.

Typical of the band's recent encores, the iconic "Born to Run" led a string of hits, including "Rosalita (Come out Tonight)," "Bobby Jean," "Dancing in the Dark" and "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out."

Full, bright arena lighting illuminated the crowd during a medley of oldie covers, including a Detroit medley, "Devil with the Blue Dress On/Good Golly Miss Molly and C.C. Rider," among others.

Brothers Darrell and Don Miller, of Hilliard, both in their early 60s, recalled before the concert training for high school basketball with a coach playing the song "Born to Run" endlessly to inspire track workouts.

"It's the one song not on my playlist," said Don, "because I had to run laps to that thing for two years."

Fair Concerts: Ice Cube, Jamey Johnson added to Ohio State Fair's concert lineup

Darrell couldn't help wonder how much longer Springsteen can keep running.

"He's going overseas. This might be his ride off into the sunset," he said.

The blast furnace of a performance is the tour's last in the U.S. as the band now heads to Great Britain to begin its European tour. It returns in late summer, including two shows in Pittsburgh on Aug. 15 and 18.

Toward the show's final encore, "I'll See You in my Dreams," from his 2020 album, "Letter to You," Springsteen bent over in feigned (or likely real) exhaustion.

"I don't think you got anything left," he challenged the crowd, which answered in a deafening roar. "Are you saying you can outlast the E Street Band?"

A test of an artist's emotional reach is often found in the most distant seats. In the upper bowl, at the far end of the Nationwide stage, fans could be seen dancing, pumping their arms and waving.

Springsteen looked skyward, opened his eyes and smiled broadly.

Watch Bruce Springsteen Play ‘Seeds’ For First Time Since 2016 at Mohegan Sun Arena

By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band touched down in Uncasville, Connecticut, on Friday night for an intimate show at the 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena. It’s the tiniest venue they’ve hit since returning to the road in February 2023, and one of the few casino gigs Springsteen has played in his entire career.

“We’re back!” Springsteen said when taking the stage. “Somebody lost their money! Somebody lost their money or we wouldn’t be back. We’ve got to get paid. But I don’t care if you lost your money or you won your money, tonight we’re going to make you the luckiest people in the world!”

“Seeds” was recorded during the 1983 Born In The U.S.A. sessions at The Hit Factory in New York City, but fans didn’t hear it until the summer of 1985 when he started playing it live. It’s about a desperate man that brings his family down to Texas with the hope of finding work in an oil refinery. They wind up sleeping in their car and tents alongside the highway.

“Parked in the lumberyard freezing our asses off,” Springsteen sings. “Kids in the back seat got a graveyard cough/I’m sleeping up in front with my wife/Billy club tapping on the windshield in the middle of the night/He says, ‘Move along son, move along.'”

Many times throughout the show, Springsteen joked that he literally didn’t know where he was. “Uncasville!” he roared near the start of “10th Avenue Freeze-Out.” “Where the fuck am I?” Before wrapping up the show with “I’ll See You In My Dreams,” he addressed the crowd one last time. “I love Uncasville, wherever the fuck it is,” he said. “Matter of fact, I’m moving to Uncasville tomorrow!”

The tour continues April 15 in Albany, New York, before heading to Syracuse, New York, and Columbus, Ohio. In early May, it moves over to Europe for a couple of months. Another American leg begins August 15th in Pittsburgh.

Bruce Springsteen plays loose in hits-packed Syracuse concert (review, setlist, photos)

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band made up for lost time at Thursday night’s concert.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group played more than two dozen songs in a hits-packed performance at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse. The show was originally scheduled for September and postponed when Springsteen was diagnosed with peptic ulcer disease .

The wait was even longer for some fans, as this was Springsteen’s first Central New York concert in more than a decade and his first time playing at the Syracuse University stadium with the E Street Band since 1985. He breathlessly played two hours and fifty minutes with virtually no pauses throughout the set. He sang the hits — including “Born to Run,” “Thunder Road,” “Dancing in the Dark,” “Hungry Heart” and “Glory Days” — but also sprinkled in a few more surprising songs like “Darlington County” (from his 1986 album “Born in the U.S.A.”) and chose “Night” (from “Born to Run”) over “Prove It All Night” (from “Darkness on the Edge of Town”).

He even played “Growin’ Up” for the first time on his tour after a young fan held up a sign requesting it. Most of the crowd grew up with Springsteen’s music over the past five decades, but he clearly appreciated parents who brought their little ones to the show. He hugged one kid who said he skipped school to attend the concert and traded a harmonica for a bag of Skittles with another youngster.

“I f---ing love you,” said one child, who was definitely too young to be using such language. But that’s rock and roll.

Stadium shows are often very rigid due to video and light synchronization requirements. Before his illness, some Springsteen fans complained last year that too many shows were following the same setlist. But at least eight songs were completely different from Monday’s MVP Arena concert in Albany and last week’s performance at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut.

According to a setlist that was printed out before the show, Springsteen and the E Street Band kept the whole Syracuse show loose, sometimes swapping songs out spontaneously. He chose “My City of Ruins” over “Racing in the Street” and “Growin’ Up” replaced “Letter to You,” while tracks like “I’m On Fire” and “Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)” were scrapped altogether.

I was most impressed how Springsteen could shout out song names from the edge of the pit and his famous backing band, 20 to 30 feet away from him, could immediately jump into them. It felt well choreographed and rehearsed, but you could tell they were still improvising at times. They just happen to be very, very good at their jobs.

They also happen to love the music, which is why fans want to see Springsteen over and over again. The people on stage are having just as good of a time as the people watching it, which makes the whole thing feel like a party.

E Street Band standouts like guitarist Steven Van Zandt, drummer Max Weinberg and multi-instrumentalist Nils Lofgren are constantly riffing with Springsteen on stage. Little Steven and saxophonist Jake Clemons, the nephew of the late, great Clarence Clemons , even danced with The Boss.

Some of that energy, as well as Springsteen’s enunciation ( or lack thereof ), gets lost in the echoes of the Dome during less popular songs like “Ghosts” and “Atlantic City.” But by the end of the first set, the 30,000 people in attendance sang to the roof of the stadium for gems like “Because the Night,” “She’s the One,” “Wrecking Ball,” “The Rising,” “Badlands” and “Thunder Road.”

“My City of Ruins” was the most emotional song of the night. The final track from Springsteen’s post-9/11 album “The Rising” was originally written for Asbury Park, New Jersey, but has also been associated with the resilience of New York City and other cities that have faced hardships and loss.

Despite some fan expectations, Springsteen didn’t explicitly pay tribute to Onondaga County Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Hoosock and Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen , who were killed by a gunman in Salina this week. But his words during “My City of Ruins” still offered comfort to the Central New York community.

“Are we missing anybody? Yes, we are. And I know a lot of you out there (have someone) you wish could be here with you tonight,” Springsteen told the crowd. And then he said those people can “remain alive in our memories, within our hearts.”

Springsteen didn’t speak much between other songs, save for the occasional “Syracuse!” shouts. He let the music do the talking.

The show began at 7:49 p.m. and Springsteen didn’t leave the stage until a brief pause for the encore at 10. Yet Springsteen continued to defy his age — 74! — and blazed non-stop through “Born to Run,” “Glory Days,” “Dancing in the Dark” and “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out.”

Then he took the fun up another notch with an impromptu performance of “Twist and Shout” (a fan’s sign request) followed by a “Detroit Medley” highlighted by covers of “Devil in a Blue Dress” and “Good Golly Miss Molly.” The crowd’s enthusiasm earned those extra songs and they showed their gratitude by singing and dancing so much you could feel the metal benches rattle.

The night concluded around 10:40 p.m. with a solo acoustic performance of “I’ll See You in My Dreams” by Springsteen. And, unless I was dreaming, there was also one more F-bomb from someone who’s definitely old enough to say it.

“Thank you Syracuse! You’re a f---ing great audience,” Springsteen said.

Thanks, Boss. You’re pretty great, too.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, N.Y., on Thursday, April 18. It will be The Boss’ first concert in Central New York since 2012 and his first in Syracuse with his famous backing band since a 1985 performance at the Dome (then the Carrier Dome).

“First time I came to Syracuse was 1973 and you were looking at the only two members of the E Street Band that were there 51 frickin’ years ago,” Springsteen said in an Instagram video alongside original E Street Band bassist Garry W. Tallent on Monday. “50 years later and guess what? Me, this gentleman Garry W. Tallent, and the rest of the E Street Band have plans to destroy your city and rock you into the ground!”

Thursday’s concert, originally scheduled for September, was postponed after Springsteen was diagnosed with peptic ulcer disease . Tickets purchased for the original date will be honored for the new date.

Pete Sala, Syracuse University’s vice president and chief facilities officer, encouraged fans to follow three simple words: “Get here early.”

A few thousand tickets are still available through Ticketmaster (prices start at $74.40), as well as VividSeats , StubHub , TicketNetwork or SeatGeek . Attendees are encouraged to download their ticket on their phone before arriving.

Sala said very few people had requested refunds when the show was postponed, so many ticketholders have been waiting about a year since the concert was first announced.

Guests with a General Admission Pit ticket should enter through Gate D. Fans looking to line up for front of the pit entry can also line up outside Gate D beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Bottles and cans are not permitted on the floor. All beverages (including water) must be emptied into a cup prior to accessing the floor seats and the GA pit.

SHOW START TIME / END TIME

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Springsteen is expected to take the stage promptly as there is no opening act.

There is no end time for the concert, but at Monday’s MVP Arena concert in Albany, Springsteen reportedly played for 2 hours and 45 minutes. If the Syracuse show starts at 7:30, expect the Boss to be rocking until about 10:15 or 10:30 p.m.

PARKING / TRAFFIC

Concertgoers are encouraged to arrive early due to traffic. Syracuse city police will be shutting down Comstock Avenue to one-way traffic to help drivers get in and out as quickly as possible.

If you purchased advance sale parking, please display your parking pass on your rearview mirror so it is easily viewable for the parking attendants and to help with traffic flow. If you purchased a parking pass for the original concert date, that pass is still valid. West Lots by the stadium and Irving Garage will open at 3:30 p.m.

If you don’t have parking passes booked in advance, Sala strongly recommends parking at Skytop (1600 Jamesville Avenue) on SU’s South Campus, and then take the shuttle to the Dome. The Skytop Lot will open at 1 p.m.

Syracuse University also recommends using the Waze app for help with directions and navigating traffic to get to your parking lot. ( See a list of parking lot addresses .)

  • On event day, $35 parking will be available at the University Avenue Garage, UAG, (1101 E Adams St) and Comstock Avenue Garage, CAG, (501 Comstock Ave). Additional parking may be available at UNVN, UNVS, Harrison and Waverly. All lots will accept major credit cards, debit cards and mobile payment (Apple Pay, Android Pay and Google Pay). Cash will not be accepted.
  • $30 paid parking will be available at the Skytop (1600 Jamesville Avenue ) parking lots. Free shuttle transportation is provided between the College Place shuttle drop off and the Colvin, Comstock and Skytop parking lots. These lots will open at 1 p.m. with shuttle service beginning at 4 p.m.
  • Skytop: If you are using I-81 South to get to the SKY or SKYD lots, SU suggests you use Exit 17. At the bottom of the ramp turn LEFT and at the next light head up Brighton Ave., then left onto Ainsley Drive to your lot. If you’re taking I-81 North from south of Syracuse, get off at Exit 16A for I-481 North and then take the first exit for Rock Cut Road.

All lots will accept major credit cards, debit cards and mobile payment (Apple Pay, Android Pay and Google Pay). Cash will not be accepted.

CASH OR CREDIT?

Credit. All official SU parking lots are now cashless (though there may be some cash options near campus). Everything inside the Dome is also cashless, including the merchandise stands. Beverages, including alcohol, will be grab-and-go.

CLEAR BAG POLICY

The Dome’s Clear Bag Policy will be in effect. Therefore, one clear bag and one small clutch or purse is allowed. Fans will be asked to return non-approved bags to their vehicle prior to stadium entry. There will be no check-in location for prohibited bags at the Stadium. Please plan accordingly.

An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection.

ITEMS NOT ALLOWED

Metal detectors will be in use. The following items are not permitted:

  • Audio Recording Devices
  • Vinyl Album Covers
  • Pocket Knives
  • Weapons of any kind
  • FOOD & BEVERAGES (excluding items needed for health/special reasons)
  • ALCOHOL of any Kind
  • BACKPACKS or large purses
  • Containers/Coolers (including soft sided)
  • Baby Strollers
  • Animals (excluding service animals)
  • Laser Pointers
  • Noise Makers/Air Horns
  • Video Recorders (including Go Pros)
  • Cameras with a lens 6″ or greater
  • Large Chains
  • Spiked Bracelets
  • Wallet Chains
  • Waist Packs
  • Selfie Sticks

WIRELESS / WIFI

Sala said Verizon users will see fast 5G service after JMA Wireless installed a new distributed antenna system for cellular service. The same work is in progress for AT&T and T-Mobile, according to Sala, and will be in place by the time football season begins. For Springsteen, that means some cell phone users may see potentially slower speeds especially at peak moments, like when everyone tries to take a photo as soon as Springsteen comes out on stage and tries to send them to friends and family.
