Taylor Swift’s 12 Best Outfits from the 1989 World Tour
By Isabel Ashton
Decked out head-to-toe in all-black and all-sequin everything by Kaufman Franco (including matching microphone), Taylor even managed to look good with a golf club in Kanata in Ontario, Canada.
One of our all-time favorite looks from the tour so far, nothing says pop princess more than this bejeweled all-in-one number, paired with a trademark red lip.
Sporting another sparkling outfit in a shiny green jacket and purple skirt, it’s no wonder she needed sunglasses. The varsity detail on the jacket gives it a nice too-cool-for-school edge.
Swift shook it off in this green flapper-inspired, tasseled crop top and skirt that she wore during a performance in Montreal.

Swift looked fierce in a sharp long-line blazer with sequin detailing and black sparkly booties in Montreal.
Throughout her shows Swift has flaunted her long legs in an array of shiny skirts and jewel-encrusted crop tops, as pictured here in Dublin, Ireland.
Swift’s overall fun vibe on the tour has extended to her fashion choices. Not one to shy away from bold colors, she is pictured here performing in Philadelphia in a rainbow-colored sequin jacket.
Swift quite literally lit up the stage in Las Vegas, where she looked flirty and feminine in this summery pink skirt and matching top complete with L.E.D. lights and silver strappy heels.
Swift revealed her sultry side in this sexy, black, glittery outfit, pictured during a concert in Las Vegas.
In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Swift made the stage her personal catwalk in black thigh-high boots and suspenders.
Singer or supermodel? Swift showcased her incredible figure in another all-black, killer combo.
In yet another crop top and skirt, it shows that as far as Swift is concerned, this combination will never go out of style.

What to Wear to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, Broken Down by Era
Whether you duked it out with Ticketmaster for tickets or are just going as a very lucky plus-one, you need an outfit that matches the vibe.
If you’re anything like team Marie Claire, you’ve been waiting for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour from the minute that it was announced. And whether you duked it out with Ticketmaster for tickets or are just going as a very lucky plus-one, you need an outfit that matches the vibe. Or, should I say, matches the eras of Swift’s music.
As a fan who got to attend the show in Boston recently, I was amazed at the wide array of looks at my show. Fans were decked out in Reputation -era snake print, glitter-encrusted face paint inspired by Swift's Lovers album cover, and plenty of DIY’d T-shirts from her Speak Now days. The bottom line? The looks varied widely, proving that you can truly go in any direction when picking your outfit for the Eras tour.
I love getting dressed up for concerts, but I also want to make sure that I can wear my new pieces again and again. It was a question I asked myself over and over while shopping for my own Eras Tour ensemble: Is the look good for me for right now, or good for me forever? In the end, I opted for a bedazzled mesh dress that I could also wear again on a night out over jeans or a slip dress . For the show, I opted to style it over a bodysuit for added coverage.
If you’re heading to the show this summer, there are a few key things to keep in mind, no matter what you wear. The show is long—five hours from the beginning of the opening act to the end of Swift’s set!—so you’ll want to wear comfortable clothing. Plus, if you’re the kind of fan who spends the majority of the concert jumping and dancing like you’re alone in your bedroom, you’ll want to wear something that you don’t have to worry about adjusting. Comfortable footwear is a must, so make sure that your new shoes don’t require breaking in before you go. Finally, the temperature tends to drop at night—especially if you’re at one of Swift’s rainier shows—so packing waterproof layers in your stadium-approved clear bag is key. (I wish I had packed a sweater.)
Ahead, I rounded up a selection of pieces for you to wear to the Eras Tour, broken down by Era. I’ve tried to think of everything: the shoes I’ve selected are known for being comfortable from the first wear. The dresses are comfortable to both sit and move around in. The jackets add warmth when you need them. Plus, many of the pieces below fall in line with some of summer 2023's biggest fashion trends .
Taylor Swift's Debut Album Era
If you’re dying for a debut self-titled album Secret Song at your show, wear something that harkens back to Swift’s first-ever era. This time in her career was defined by pastel blue and green shades, her iconic curling-iron curls, and her country twang. Consider cowboy boots and sweet tulle skirts.
Taylor Swift's 'Fearless' Era
Prefer gold to silver? The Fearless era is for you. This album had it all: Fireworks! A sparkly gold guitar! A gold fringed dress! More was more. To make it work, incorporate gold into your look via a pair of trendy sneakers , a going-out top in the hue, or by wearing a pair of viral gold jeans.
Taylor Swift's 'Speak Now' Era
Speak Now was defined by one color and one color only: A rich purple. It's the color Swift is wearing on the cover of the album, and it's the shade that has stayed attached to the record ever since. Sweet midi dresses and shoes that come in the same shade are go-tos for this era.
Taylor Swift's 'Red' Era
Red makes for an easy outfit because it only requires that you wear one color—red. Swift also went slightly preppy while on tour for the album, opting for a classic Breton striped shirt and red high-waisted denim . No matter which outfit vibe you choose, don’t forget your heart-shaped sunglasses.
Taylor Swift's '1989' Era
1989 is one of the more unique albums in Swift’s discography regarding her looks. While she repped matching sets on tour for the album, she's opted for orange ensembles while on the current Eras Tour.
Taylor Swift's 'Reputation' Era
My personal favorite era as someone who loves to wear all-black, Reputation- inspired outfits are perfect for those who prefer a little drama. From the actual sheer mesh dress I wore to my own concert to a statement-making choker necklace priced at under $50, this era is all about going all-out.
Taylor Swift's 'Lover' Era
If you love playing with color, consider a Lover- era ensemble for your concert. The key colors for this era were bright Barbiecore pink and rich blue, but pastel shades like baby pink and lavender —a trending color for 2023—were also popular. Go all-out with a heart-shaped stencil around your eye, or heart-shaped earrings.
Taylor Swift's 'Folklore' Era
Folklore was a departure from the previous maximalist Lover era. The aesthetic for the album was a combination of woodland fairy and cottagecore. On-stage, this translates to flowing summer dresses in muted shades like olive green. IRL, pair lacy layers with chunky cardigans and sweet Mary Jane shoes.
Taylor Swift's 'Evermore' Era
Cozy-core fans, the Evermore era is for you. Taylor’s second pandemic album was full of woodland references but, unlike its predecessor, the vibe this time around was very much fall-inspired. Flannel dresses, comfy Birkenstock sandals, and other comfy pieces reign supreme. Shades to highlight include marigold yellow and burnt red.
Taylor Swift's 'Midnights' Era
Good thing silver everything is one of 2023’s biggest trends—Taylor is obsessed with the shade for her Midnights era. Her looks from this time in her career are about metallics , drama, and deep shades like navy blue and fushia. If you can’t stop listening to “Karma” or You’re On Your Own Kid,” This one is for you.

All of Taylor Swift's Best 1989 Tour Outfits So Far
By Kathryn Amey
Taylor Swift is our ultimate girl crush. When she's not writing catchy chart-topping tracks, she's dating some of the cutest boys in Hollywood (and London), providing us with serious #squadgoals thanks to her BFF-filled Instagrams, and, of course, acting as a constant source of major fashion inspiration.
And yes, that extends to every outfit she's worn during her 1989 World Tour—during the three shows that have happened so far, at least. From sparkly bandeau tops to a jacket that can only be described as 'disco ball-esque,' Taylor has really kicked it up a notch with her on-stage ensembles. Say goodbye to her signature pastel prints and ladylike cocktail dresses—her latest tour look is far more "Bad Blood" than "Blank Space."
Here are Teen Vogue's favorite picks so far...
What's not to love about a sparkly wrap-around tank top paired with matching high-waisted shorts? Absolutely nothing.
She's got that good girl faith and a tight little skirt...
An all-over sequined black onesie? We need this in our party outfit arsenal, ASAP.
The only thing better than a dazzling silver bomber jacket? One that incorporates every color of the rainbow, of course.
By Aiyana Ishmael
By Sara Delgado
By Kristi Kellogg
But the piece de resistance is this bedazzled body suit, which is giving us serious Brittney circa her "Toxic" music video flashbacks. Not that we're complaining—Tay is positively Shutting. It. Down. in this outfit.
For a real stage style statement, Taylor matched said sparkly bandeau top with a glittering royal blue skater skirt and an eye-catching jacket that redefines what it means to be 'disco ball chic.' Yes, it's a thing.
In Detroit, Tay channeled her inner 1920s flapper clad in a show-stopping halter jumpsuit complete with fringe.
This ensemble is more risqué than Taylor's usual look. Behold: tiny white shorts, a matching strapless tank and thigh-high black boots. But her best accessory? Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons.

How To Steal T. Swift's Epic 1989 World Tour Style
Quite obviously, the world cannot stop talking about the endless run of celebrity catwalks and performances that Taylor Swift continues to surprise throngs of screaming fans with during her 1989 world tour — she's basically Hollywood's magical fairy godmother. But what we should also be freaking out about is how epic Taylor Swift's concert wardrobe has been. From the iconic white and perfectly embellished co-ord set that she wears for said celebrity unveilings, duos, and dance parties to rhinestone-encrusted and leather one-pieces to her steady rotation of crop tops, each ensemble is not only covetable, but also perfectly themed to the billboard chart-topper she is belting out.
Also, because she’s Taylor Swift, she looks simultaneously over the top and in costume — as one should when performing for sold out stadiums — yet on point to walk right off stage and be snapped for the latest edition of celebrity street style. Could this mean we too could make these stage outfits work, IRL?
I have a feeling wardrobes created and curated specifically for multi-billion dollar world tours are a little bit like a painting by Monet — fabulous from far away, but less realistic up close. I mean, the outfits are basically stage costumes, after all. Nonetheless, no matter how flashy the attire for the 1989 tour might be, Swift’s street style — essentially her penchant for high waisted bottoms, crop tops, and co-ords — totally shines through with each passing costume change. As such, it is as easy to be inspired by her on stage outfits as it is her street style.
While most of us may not be striking a pose with Gigi Hadid, dropping a beat with Nick Jonas, or sitting on a bench staring at Sam Hunt anytime soon, we can certainly look like we are up for the task with these five outfits inspired by T. Swift’s concert style.
1. All White And Embellished
View on Instagram
Pair a matchy-matchy white crop top and short with a little bling to easily rock one of Swift's most iconic outfits from the tour, appropriate for any evening or weekend activity. Also, since this is the outfit she is seemingly always wearing when her famous friends appear, maybe it has some sort of magical, celebrity-wielding powers? Hey, it's always worth a shot.

2. Pumped Up Party Dress
Swift looks like the love child of a modern-day flapper and an on-trend ice dancer in this fringed, embellished mini dress and it is everything . While it may be difficult to find any event on the calendar to which this exact outfit is appropriate (unless you too are performing to thousands of people this coming weekend), a white dress adorned with sequins is Swift-inspired and totally chic.
Lastly, she has been spotted wearing some killer stilettos with this dress — seriously, they give new meaning to the word sparkle — so pump up your already sparkly dress with some extra silver glitter on your feet.

3. Flirty Mini And Crop Top Combo
There it is — the high waisted bottom she's notorious for. This flair skirt expertly covers her belly button while still leaving room for that covetable criss-cross crop top. I am pretty sure we have seen Swift on a date with Calvin Harris in an outfit that nearly mimics this, which means it is an easy copycat for a real life night out on the town.

4. "Bad Blood" Black Leather
Girl is making that leather work in the summer temps, so there is clearly no reason to hide it away until winter. While a leather jumpsuit is the true definition of commitment, it's easy to tone it down for the everyday by combining an easy breezy black tank with a pair of leather ankle pants. Welcome to that fierce "Bad Blood" girl life.

5. Full Fledged Sparkle And Shine
Two things Taylor Swift is definitely not afraid of — a boy and a sequin. Take a page out of her concert costume book by donning a fully embellished one piece for head to toe sparkle and shine.
ASOS Curve Premium Kimono Jumpsuit in Sequins, $144, asos.com
Beaded Jumpsuit, $50, hm.com
Whether stepping out in Tribeca or performing sold out shows, T. Swift's style game is second to none and constantly covetable. It's time for a mid-summer wardrobe refresh anyway, right?

See Over 57 of Taylor Swift's 1989 Tour Guests Take the Stage with Her
Taylor Swift might be a solo artist, but she definitely isn't alone in the friend department. The "Bad Blood" singer proved that she has several buddies in very high places, and she can even get them to join her on the stage no matter what city she's in.
During her 1989 Tour Swift welcomed a bunch of her celebrity pals to share the stage with her. The performances included some of our favorite music artists like Justin Timberlake and Mary J. Blige. Plus, there were also non-singers who took to the stage, such as Ellen DeGeneres and Julia Roberts. There were so many surprise appearances that it was hard to keep up with all of the unforgettable moments. Luckily we've got the history-making performances in one place.

How to Decode Taylor Swift’s Style, From Backward Outfits to Reputation Red Herrings

For fans in the know, decoding a Taylor Swift outfit is nearly as thrilling as parsing her lyrics or Instagram captions for clues. The cryptic queen leaves subtle (and not-so-subtle) messages everywhere (remember five holes in the fence ?)—so why not her clothes too? With stage-managed pap shoots and unmarked sponcon more prevalent than ever among celebrities, Swift clearly knows that people will pay attention to what she’s wearing.
Fashion has become its own vertical in Swift’s universe, with The Cut asking “why Taylor Swift Dresses Like That” while The Independent chalks up interest in Swift’s style to sexism. By any measure, Swift is gorgeous and stylish. But in the hypercompetitive and appearance-obsessed strata she inhabits, there is no room for error…and Swift apparently errs so much that a certain corner of the internet has branded her Allergic To Serving . There is even an Instagram account dedicated to Photoshopping her into more fashion-forward looks, and you can find accounts like the self-described Swiftologist “brutally reviewing” both her street style and red-carpet looks on YouTube. (For my money, the most objective overview of her fashion journey is from the always excellent account ModernGurlz. )
To gain a deeper understanding of both Swift’s fashion sense and how she positions herself within the broader style discourse, I spoke with the only woman who may know Taylor’s style better than Taylor herself: Sarah Chapelle, the creator and operator of @TaylorSwiftStyled and author of Taylor Swift Style: Fashion Through the Eras , which hits shelves this October. Tl;dr she’s the one who found all the Tortured Poets Department clothing Easter eggs.
Instagram content
This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.
“Taylor Swift Style is the definitive Swift style Bible,” Chapelle tells me. “It tells the fashion story behind every single Taylor Swift album and her musical and sartorial evolution, and it’s based on my own content archives and extensive research, accompanied by over 200 photographs of Taylor’s most fashionable moments.”
Like Swift herself, Chapelle is thorough and eagle-eyed…some might say a fanatic. She writes long, thorough captions to help followers interpret Swift’s clothes and patiently answers questions about all things Taylor from an educated, not a stan-crazy perspective. Most helpfully, she finds affordable dupes for many of Swift’s items. Have I purchased boots worn by Taylor and identified by Sarah? No. But I asked for them for my birthday.
Just before the release of TTPD , Chapelle and I caught up over Zoom. And Tree Paine, if you’re reading this, please take her words seriously. She knows what she’s talking about.
Glamour : What is your process? Do you have Google alerts when Taylor gets photographed? How does a person run a Taylor Swift style account and identify all this stuff?
Sarah Chapelle: I follow a lot of really awesome update accounts. There’s Google alerts, there’s tweets that come through, and even good old-fashioned Swiftie group chats. In terms of my process, I’ve been running @TaylorSwiftStyled for almost 13 years now, so I have it down to a science and an art. There are a lot of brands that she continues to return to…so when she’s out and about, it’s easy to decipher, like, “Oh, that fit and flair cut and that particular color looks like a Reformation dress.” Or, there’s a certain cut of denim or trendy silhouette that indicates it’s probably Free People. And so begins the process of combing through all of these different retailers’ websites until I find the exact match.
What I hope is the extra something that I bring to the table is the power of the caption and being able to contextualize what a clothing choice means in the Taylor Swift cinematic universe. What does this bag represent? Maybe the last time she carried it was like 2014, and that’s a worthwhile thing to bring up. She’s the type of person who loves to repeat things and recycle accessories. That repetition is something that fans resonate with because it’s like, “Ah, someone else who gets their cost-per-wear down by re-wearing and repeating pieces in their closet like a normal person.” It’s sad that’s notable as a celebrity, but the fact of the matter is that, yes, it’s notable.
So then, how do you think she gets dressed in the morning? I wouldn’t put it past her to be sitting there with a grid of: “When was the last time I carried this bag?” Or do you think she has someone in charge of that?
I suppose it’s an open secret that most celebrities, even in their daily lives, are intentionally styled, and Taylor does have a style team. However, I do think Taylor has uniquely positioned herself as the arbiter of her public image and somebody who cares very deeply about the intention in which she shows up in the public eye. As a medium of communication, her fashion is a tool that she likes to wield and utilize. Whether that means distinguishing eras over the course of her career or sending red herrings to fans to drive them into a frenzy. We now know that the usage of green earlier this year, pre-Grammys, and even the Jimmy Choo, Jean Paul Gaultier collab boots that she wore that had snakes on them, were an intentional misdirect hinting at Reputation TV . Which was very tricky of her.

But in terms of how she ends up getting dressed, I feel like this is a Cher Horowitz-meets-“Mastermind” situation where one can barely fathom the depths of her closet and how she goes about intentionally or passively selecting what she chooses to wear that day.
How much jewelry does she own versus what is lent to her? Does this apply to other pieces of her wardrobe?
Based on my knowledge of the industry and how it typically works, I assume that most of her red-carpet jewelry are loans. I also assume that many of her outings are styled with smatterings of personal pieces that she herself has acquired. I know it seems farfetched, but I do think she actually does a small amount of shopping on her own, which I think is a key part of her appeal. That quirk factor to her outfits. The personal whimsy she sometimes brings to her styling.
A lot of celebrities at her level have contracts with certain brands, though mostly it’s actors who do a lot of red carpets. Taylor has the freedom to wear Chanel one day and Prada the next day. Has she ever really picked a brand or partnered up with a designer?
Not to an explicit extent where she’s a contracted ambassador for a brand. So there’s a certain, I guess, authenticity to what she wears, wherein she will just simply wear what speaks to her. I love that, whether that’s a Gucci bag or an Urban Outfitters top, it’s whatever speaks to her that moment. I think that’s very admirable and cool.
We know that she does have fashion connections. Stella McCartney is a notable one—she’s gone so far as to name-drop Stella in her music, and she did the Stella McCartney merchandise line for Lover .
It’s funny you mentioned Gucci. While I was looking through your book, I thought, “She should only wear Gucci.” Every time I thought she truly hit the nail on the head , that was the brand.
There’s been so many instances where I have discovered that my sweet spot for Taylor is the Gucci column gown . It’s fantastic on her.
In terms of future brand ambassadorships, I strongly feel like the brand that would “get” her the most is Ralph Lauren. She’s carried many, many Ralph Lauren bags over the course of her career. As a brand, from an ethos perspective of tapping into that sense of everyday Americana luxury, that definitely feels very Taylor and could be really cool.
Speaking of partnering up with designers, do you think she’s going to go to the Met Gala ? She doesn’t have to perform again until the ninth and it’s on May 4.
She technically has availability in her calendar to go. It’s whether she wants to prioritize attending that is kind of up in the air. I can understand why she’d want to go to Coachella because even though that’s a very public event, she’s able to hear live music, enjoy herself, feel freedom and fun, and go out and support her friends who are performing. But what does the Met Gala provide for the world’s most famous superstar at this point in time? That’s the question. I would love if she attended. Love it.
Moving onto some of her more questionable sartorial decisions, what do you make of her wearing stuff backwards? Because she’s done it a number of times. That’s got to be her decision, right? No one’s telling her to do that.
The fact that I have enough posts to fill a dedicated tag on the blog with pieces that she’s worn backwards is very amusing. She approaches her style with so much intentionality, but I don’t think these were instances of her wearing things backwards with intention. I think they were just very comedic oopsies.
You think she thought she was wearing them the right way?
I mean, who hasn’t experienced getting to the end of the day and realizing that your shirt is on backwards? Again, speaking to the relatability that is Taylor Swift; who has not, at one point in time or five points in time, experienced accidentally wearing something backwards?
What do you say to the discourse among non-Swifties that fashion is one area where she’s weaker? Even as a fan, I don’t think of her as super fashion-forward—but it’s okay because she’s not trying to be. She’s so good at almost every other aspect of being a celebrity.
Generally speaking, what draws people to Taylor’s fashion is not for looks that challenge trends or push the needle, and that is okay. I mean, Taylor Swift made headlines when s he cut her hair into a bob . That was a huge, earthquake-level change in her cinematic universe. Compared to most celebrities, who often dye their hair between every other project or cut bangs or change their hairstyle on a whim, that was a magnitude-level shift that indicated a huge change was happening.
How would you describe her Tortured Poets style? I’m having trouble separating it from her WAG style, and I feel like it’s notable that she’s been actively wearing another person’s brand and advertising for Travis and the Chiefs with her clothes.
This is possibly the first time for an album rollout where there hasn’t been the anticipated volume of aesthetic output in relation to that era’s established aesthetic. This is probably the least amount of era-aligned outfits that we’ve had in the lead-up to an album, which is very interesting.
There is a “tortured poets” aesthetic that is very Dark Academia, literary, kind of like a more elevated version of the schoolgirl outfit accessories that she’s liked for a very long time. There are many instances from Fearless to Speak Now, and even into 1989, where Taylor loves a heeled loafer. She loves a pleated, flippy plaid miniskirt. Even in the 1989 era, she loved a knee-high sock. These aren’t necessarily new items for her to be wearing, but the way that they’re packaged in this poets filter feels a little bit more tortured, a little more anguished and dark and introspective.
This distinction between the few outings that we’ve had in contrast to the album is a subconscious reminder of, “This is what I went through, and I’m thankfully not in that place right now. So bear that in mind when you listen.”
If you’re speaking to a casual fan, someone who watched The Eras Tour on Disney+ but didn’t go in person, what would you say are the beginner level things to look out for when analyzing a Taylor Swift outfit? Do they all have Easter eggs, or are we just looking at vibes?
The most important thing to know is that context matters. You can’t really analyze her looks within an isolated bubble. You need to understand where she is and why she’s there. I don’t think that you can look at her Coachella outfit , for instance, and find out much about her intentional approach to style. You need to understand that she’s at a music festival with her boyfriend to support her friends. It’s most likely that she’s seeking comfort, function, cute festival vibes, and there’s not much to pull apart there. Sometimes there may not be a meaning beyond the logistical requirements of that day.
If you could give her one piece of style advice, what would you say?
If she still has that green Ellie Saab bag , would she consider giving it to somebody who is a great admirer of it?
Which other celebrities are you following stylewise? Is there anyone you pay as much attention to?
I don’t pay this much attention to anybody else. In terms of celebrities whose fashion I have enjoyed watching as of late, Zendaya obviously comes to mind. Carey Mulligan’s recent award season was like chef’s kiss perfect for me. I loved watching that unfold. Blake Lively is always fun to watch. I really like Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex’s personal style. I like pretty much everything that Meghan wears.
If you had to describe Taylor’s style—in this current era, that is—what three adjectives come to mind?
Feminine, thoughtful, relatable.
Until her next reinvention.

Taylor Swift played 5 concerts in Columbus before release of The Tortured Poets Department
A clothing designer says Taylor Swift wearing her skort was the 'ultimate karma' against brands that have ripped her off
- Taylor Swift recently posted a video that shows her wearing a $60 Popflex athletic skort.
- Cassey Ho, an influencer and the skort designer, told Business Insider it's a dream come true.
- Ho said Swifties have since wiped out existing inventory, and 7,000 skorts have been preordered.
When Taylor Swift uploaded a YouTube Shorts video to promote her new album on April 19, Blogilates founder Cassey Ho was getting her roots touched up at a hair salon.
"I was so ugly with my hair in the bowl and a towel over my head, but my husband, Sam, kept calling. He was like, 'You need to check your messages,'" she told Business Insider.
So she did, and she quickly discovered that Swift's video featured a clip of the musician playing pickleball while wearing the $60 Pirouette Skort from Ho's brand Popflex.
"I wish I had screamed or jumped. I was numb," she said. "That was my reaction. Couldn't move, couldn't think. Nonfunctional."
The Taylor Effect: athleisure version
Ho — a fitness influencer and entrepreneur — said she was equally shocked when fans alerted her that Swift had also seemingly referenced the Popflex skirt in a track on "The Tortured Poets Department."
"Lilac short skirt, the one that fits me like skin," Swift sings in "imgonnagetyouback."
While Ho can't confirm whether Swift was specifically referencing her design, the lyric has only made the experience more exciting for herself and her employees.
"Our entire team has just been living in this Taylor dream from Friday into this week. It's just been so cool," Ho said.
Swifties can't get enough of the skort, either. According to Ho, her brand's inventory of the Digital Lilac shade Swift wore was wiped out in minutes. She said Popflex has now sold 7,000 of the skorts in preorders.
"The Taylor Effect is like nothing else in the entire world. It's insane," Ho said. "We had our biggest sales day of the year and our second biggest sales day ever. This is also the first time we've taken preorders. We normally don't do that, but people really want the original."
An invisible string between Ho and Swift
In the early days of Ho's career — when she posted videos of herself doing exercise routines on YouTube — Swift's songs often played in the background.
Those "Pop Pilates" routines, as Ho dubbed them, skyrocketed her into internet stardom, and Swift took notice.
In 2014, Ho received a direct message from Swift's team inviting her and her sister to a Secret Session, or a private listening party where Swift showed fans her then-upcoming album "1989."
"We were just nervously there, and Taylor walked out with her red lips, short hair, a crop top, and a pleated skirt," she recalled. "Then, she walked up to our little group and said, 'Cassey, I love watching your videos.' I was like, 'Are you kidding me?'"
Swift then shared a message about doing one of Ho's workout routines on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, in 2019.
"People assume I must have sent the skort to her, but absolutely not," Ho told BI. "I have no contact with Taylor. I don't know her address, nothing."
But given their connected history, Ho thinks Swift may have seen one of her promotional videos for the skort.
"I think she was Tay-lurking," she said.
The bigger picture
While Ho is ecstatic about Swift wearing her skort design from the perspective of a business owner and Swiftie, she's also grateful for another reason.
Since releasing the Pirouette skirt nearly three years ago, Ho said she has dealt with numerous online retailers copying her design and selling cheaper versions.
"It's happened two times on Shein and a million times on Amazon," Ho said. She called out Shein in a July 2023 blog post after noticing that the fast-fashion retailer was selling a similar skort, which was no longer available on the site as of Friday.
Ho also said she's seen new knockoffs popping up now that Swift has been seen wearing the original.
"I've already seen sites using my videos and Taylor's video in ads on TikTok, which direct to sketchy sites," she said, adding that she's working to get those listings removed.
But in the meantime, she said, Swift wearing the original feels like the "ultimate karma" against shops that have stolen her work — something Swift herself is deeply familiar with .
"She is the ultimate inspiration for taking control of a bad situation," Ho said.
But even as knockoff Popflex skorts appear online, Ho and her team are celebrating.
In addition to a dinner party she'd like to host in the future, Ho told BI that she's also distributing $4,190 bonuses to each of her employees — a number she picked by taking the date Swift posted her video, April 19, and multiplying it by 1,000, or the number of times she's "felt so lucky over this past weekend."
"I don't know what you call this. Maybe an invisible string, I guess," Ho said of her journey with Swift. "But the past few days have been a beautiful dream. I'm just so grateful."

The NFL player and Swift, also 34, began dating in 2023 and haven’t shied away from public displays of affection in recent months.
Not only were the couple photographed locking lips on a Bahamas vacation in March, but they danced in the Coachella crowds during the music festival’s first weekend.
While Swift has only spoken about Kelce in her Time magazine Person of the Year cover story — and in two songs off of her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology” — the athlete often gushes about her on his “New Heights” podcast .

Swifties Trying to Rewrite History and Make Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ About Matty Healy May Have Lost the Plot
Following the release of The Tortured Poets Department , some Taylor Swift fans are speculating that her sixth studio album, 1989, may actually be about Matty Healy — and we’re afraid they may have lost the plot entirely.
Beloved Swifties, we appreciate your prowess, but 1989 has and always will be dedicated to Mr. Harry Styles (allegedly). Although it’s understandable that TTPD has caused many to reevaluate some of Swift’s more recent work, including 2022’s Midnights , rewriting history to make a record so specific to Styles about someone else simply doesn’t make a ton of sense.
Before we dive into the reasons it’s a no, here are the three things fans are attempting to harp on when it comes to 1989 . Many believe lyrics in “Style,” particularly “You’ve got that long hair slicked back / White T-shirt” apply to Healy’s 2014 performance vibe, while others think Swift’s silhouette being featured in both the “Style” and “Fortnight” — a TTPD song rumored to be about Healy — music videos is a deliberate parallel. On a bigger scale, some Swifties think because 1989 is about a delicate, on-and-off relationship — described in “OOTW,” “I Wish You Would” and “All You Had to Do Was Stay,” for example — it must trace back to Healy, since the Swift and The 1975 frontman met the same year the record was released.
Back to why this is wrong. Starting with the most obvious of evidence, Swift and Healy didn’t even meet until one month after 1989 was released. The twosome first crossed paths in November 2014 when Swift attended a The 1975 show alongside pals Ellie Goulding and Selena Gomez . Healy later opened up about being introduced to the pop star while on the Australian radio program Shazam Top 20, where he admitted the duo exchanged numbers.

If how time works isn’t enough proof, there’s always the fact that one of Swift’s singles on the album is literally titled Style, using wordplay to compare the duo’s on-and-off romance, which lasted from 2012 to 2014, to clothing and fashion that “never goes out of style.”
Although Swift never actually names names in her songs — except she kind of does in this one, right? — she also didn’t try to hide her inspiration for “Style” when discussing it in a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone , telling the outlet, “We should have just called [the song], ‘I’m Not Even Sorry.'”
Styles, for his part, wrote “Two Ghosts” in 2017, which many believe is a response to Swift’s track. “Same lips red / Same eyes blue / Same white shirt / Couple more tattoos,” he sings in the first verse, likely in response to Swift’s “I got that red lip classic thing that you like” and “You got that long hair, slicked back, white T-shirt” lyrics.
“Out of the Woods” is another 1989 track that clearly belongs to Styles, as it references his and Swift’s infamous snowmobile accident that resulted in both of them going to the hospital, with Styles getting “20 stitches.”
Though she didn’t name Styles at the time, Swift later confirmed to Rolling Stone that the song was about the crash, telling the outlet she wasn’t hurt in the incident before correcting herself, saying, ”Not as hurt.’” When asked why nobody has ever leaked information about the accident, she added: ”You know what I’ve found works even better than an NDA? Looking someone in the eye and saying, ‘Please don’t tell anyone about this.'”
When the music video for “OOTW” dropped in 2015, Swift was featured lost in a snowy woods in a blue dress. The garment was a callback to her and Styles’ breakup in January 2013, when they called it quits while vacationing in the Virgin Islands following a “heated argument.” Swift reportedly cut her trip short and headed home to Nashville to begin rehearsing for her Red tour and was photographed leaving the resort on a boat while donning a blue dress.
Swift can also be seen wearing the necklace of a paper airplane gifted to her by Styles in both the “OOTW” and “Style” videos. The jewelry is referenced in the “OOTW” lyric, “Two paper airplanes flying.”
Swift and Styles’ beachside breakup also came back into play for Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) , which she released in October 2023 with a series of bonus Vault Tracks. In “ Is It Over Now? ” Swift calls back to multiple other 1989 songs, singing, “Blue Dress / On a boat.” The snowmobile accident also ties in, with the lyrics, “Red blood / White snow.”
“Now That We Don’t Talk,” another track off 1989 (Taylor’s Version) , also seems to Styles hanging out on boats with his One Direction bandmates following their breakup with the line, “Now I don’t have to pretend I like acid rock / Or that I like to be on a mega yacht / With important men who think important thoughts.”
“Slut!,” meanwhile, touches on the idea of being judged for a public romance as a woman while the man skates by. Swift and Styles were infamously photographed together everywhere they went, with Swift taking a lot of heat from One Direction fans.

“Send the code, he’s waiting there / The sticks and stones they throw froze mid-air,” she sings in the second verse. “Everyone wants him, that was my crime / The wrong place at the right time.”
If Healy was an on-and-off love for Swift since 2014, they certainly kept it under wraps, but Swift has all but confirmed that was the case when it came to Styles. During an interview on The Morning Show i n December 2014, Swift confessed that much of 1989 , but “Style” in particular, is about a romance you can’t seem to get over. (While there could be something to Swift having similar feelings about Healy since they rekindled things in 2023, she’d have to have a look into the future to be speaking about Healy then.)
“‘Style’ is actually about those relationships that are never really done ,” she explained. “You always kind of have that one person who you feel like might interrupt your wedding and be like, ‘Don’t do it, we’re not over yet.’ I think everybody has that one person who kind of floats in and out of their life and the narrative is never truly over.”
Swift has touched on this concept with her other records, most notably Folklore’s “The 1” and Midnights’ “Question,” which directly samples from “OOTW.” While Swift did perform “Question” while dating Healy at her May 2023 Eras Tour show, the song likely was originally penned with Styles in mind. Swift sings about a time when her ex saw her in a “crowded room” with “some meathead guy,” which could callback to Styles standing on stage at the 2017 Billboard Awards and seeing Swift kiss then-boyfriend Calvin Harris .

As for Styles himself, the musician has all but confirmed many of Swift’s 1989 tracks are about him. When asked his feelings on being the rumored subject of her music during a 2014 Google hangout , he said, “We always say that we write from personal experience, and I think everyone does. So, it would be hypocritical to say ‘Oh, you can’t write songs.’ And she’s really good, so, they’re good songs. I’m really lucky in that sense.”

During a Rolling Stone interview three years later, Styles expanded on his thoughts, but did note that he can’t be sure the songs are 100 percent about him.
“I’m lucky if everything [we went through] helped create those songs,” he said. “That’s what hits your heart. That’s the stuff that’s hardest to say, and it’s the stuff I talk least about. That’s the part that’s about the two people.”
