Traveler's High English Translation

  • SIDE-BY-SIDE

This road leads on to a far-off, distant town. The speed lifts and carries my feelings along.

I feel I once heard someone say, “Travels are like a little snapshot of life”. If that’s true, I’d like to hum a tune and travel a trail only I can follow.

Cutting through the wind, flinging open the window, and blasting “Tomorrow Never Knows”, I mustn’t let my eyes wander! Gotta stay alert until I reach my destination. My navigation system is all set! With my bearing locked north, I won’t lose my way. I’m heading for your town!

My route displays which roads I should take. But yeah… maybe I should take a slight detour!

Colorful roofs are in a line, looking almost like plastic models. There’s dramas unfolding under each of them. I’m expecting a lot from my own scenario too!

I might try just following my intuition. The rails laid out for me seem so boring! I can go anywhere I want, so losing my way will be fun too! Turning off my navigation system, I follow an unpaved route to get to you. I’m heading for your town!

Long ago, we used to search for things we lacked. But before we knew it, our hands were overflowing with useless things. So look up! Look to the sky and let out a “yes!!!”

We can see a glittering rainbow!

Breaking through the wind, flinging open the window, and composing a theme song for my travels, I mustn’t let my eyes wander! It’s only a little further to my destination. Congratulations! I’m clear to reverse in! Pulling up the handbrake, I’ve finally arrived. I’ve made it to your town!

Travis Kelce Confirms ‘So High School’ Is His Favorite Taylor Swift Song: ‘A Little Biased’

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Travis Kelce has Taylor Swift feeling “so high school,” and those emotions are clearly mutual.

Kelce, 34, took a break from accompanying Swift, also 34, on the European leg of her Eras Tour to helm his annual Kelce Jam musical festival in Kansas City. Speaking to People on the Saturday, May 18, red carpet, Kelce confirmed that “So High School” is his favorite song of Swift’s.

Swift included “So High School” on her latest studio album, The Tortured Poets Department , which was released in April. The lyrics have several allusions to Kelce’s career as a professional football player and the couple’s early romance — including his 2016 interview game of “Kiss, Marry, Kill.” (Kelce had said he wanted to smooch Swift nearly seven years before they started dating.)

After dropping TTPD , Swift added seven of the songs to her Eras Tour setlist, including a snippet of “So High School.” Kelce saw the routine — Swift and her dancers perform his celebratory touchdown dances and other cheerleading-inspired moves on a set of stadium-style bleachers — for the first time in Paris earlier this month.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Relationship Timeline: From Chiefs Games to Private Date Nights

While the entire show had Kelce grooving to Swift’s sick beats, it was the TTPD section that occupied a special place in his heart.

“I’m not gonna lie, I might be a little biased toward The Tortured Poets Department ,” Kelce quipped to Access Hollywood on Saturday. “Just a little bit. Just a little biased.”

Kelce Jam Presented by Jim Beam had several references to Swift, who was busy performing a sold-out concert in Sweden on Saturday, throughout the night. Kelce first took the stage as a remix of Swift’s “Mine” played through the arena. In addition, a clip of the pop star watching Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs teammates win the Super Bowl in February was included in a highlight reel montage.

Did Taylor Swift Write Any Songs About Travis Kelce on ‘The Tortured Poets Department’?

Kelce then introduced headlining sets by 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne , a lineup that he personally curated.

“I can’t tell you how much I used to make CDs [and] just burn CDs on my computer when I was a kid,” the three-time Super Bowl champ told Access . “I’ve just always been a music lover — all different genres, and sure enough, you see tonight, we’ve got a bunch of them. It’s gonna be amazing.”

Despite a star-studded roster of Kelce Jam performers, there’s still one Swift song that Kelce thinks would make the perfect addition to the festival setlist.

“‘So High School’ might be the only that’s jumping into my mind right now, I think everyone [would] get fired up for that one,” Kelce added to Access on the red carpet.

Taylor Swift’s “So High School” Will Make You Miss Your Teen Days

The song references one of the first times Travis Kelce mentioned her name.

Taylor Swift’s “So High School” Lyrics, Explained

Every night on the Eras Tour , Taylor Swift asks the audience , “You ready to go back to high school with me?” before performing her 2009 single “You Belong With Me” during the Fearless act . That might have been an Easter egg this whole time.

At 2 a.m. on April 19, Swift revealed that her new album, The Tortured Poets Department , was actually a “secret double album” entitled The Anthology , confirming a longtime Swiftie theory . The second part adds 15 more tracks to the Tortured Poets canon, including “So High School,” a ’90s alt-rock-tinged ode to a new romance that will take you back to your youth.

In the new song, Swift sings about being swept away by a new lover overnight, exclaiming that she feels like she’s back in high school. The catchy post-chorus contrasts Swift’s poet persona with her man’s sports and video game prowess. “Truth, dare, spin bottles / You know how to ball, I know Aristotle,” she chants. “Brand new, full throttle / Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto.”

The Travis Kelce Connection

It didn’t take long for Swifties to link the song back to Swift’s current boyfriend, Travis Kelce , given how many of her early songs invoked high school themes like football and cheerleaders. Now that she’s dating a football player, like she dreamed about in the “You Belong With Me” video, she’s living out that girl’s romance fantasies.

Taylor Swift’s “So High School” Lyrics, Explained

Not only are there a handful of sports references — like on “The Alchemy,” the penultimate track on the main album — but she also calls back to one of the first times Kelce mentioned her name. Some fans think the “kiss, marry, kill” lyric could be a wink to when Kelce played the game in a 2016 interview , and Swift was one of his options, along with Katy Perry and Ariana Grande.

“Damn, that’s messed up,” he said. “Ariana, sorry, love you, but you’re gone. And then Taylor Swift would be the kiss. And what’s the last one? Katy Perry? Yeah, Katy Perry would be the marry.”

But in Swift’s world, she’s the final pick no matter what. “Are you gonna marry, kiss, or kill me?” she asks. “It’s just a game, but really, I’m bettin' on all three for us two.”

“He wants to support her as much as he can while he can, so he’s going to [go] back and forth from the U.S. to Europe while he has the time,” the source said. Swift and Kelce, who just vacationed in Lake Como, Italy , after her Paris shows , are having a “wonderful time in Europe so far.” Kelce flew back to Kansas City, Missouri, after the Italy trip and hosted Kelce Jam there last weekend.

He also already wrapped filming for his role on Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series Grotesquerie, Us Weekly reported. A second source said on May 23 that Kelce “had an incredible time” and found it “surprising” that he even got the offer to join the show.

With that work commitment behind him, he “can arrange his schedule to be with [Taylor],” the first source said. That insider added that he and Swift plan to do some home décor shopping in Europe: “They love going antique shopping, and she’s been helping him pick out some things for his new house in Kansas.”

Love it or loathe it, it’s all anyone can talk about right now, and Travis Kelce seemingly responded to Taylor Swift’s “So High School” lyrics from her latest album The Tortured Poets Department . The pair have been dating since at least September 2023 and many fans have speculated that at least one song is about their romance.

Taylor Swift Super Bowl Photos With Travis Kelce

The Tortured Poets Department  is Swift’s 11th studio album, which she announced during her speech for the Best Pop Vocal Album award at the 66th annual Grammy Awards. “This is my 13th Grammy, which is my lucky number. I don’t know if I’ve ever told you that. I want to say thank you to the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way, but I know that the way that the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans,” Swift said.

“So I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand-new album comes out April 19. It’s called  The Tortured Poets Department .”

“This period of the author’s life is now over, the chapter closed and boarded up. There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once wounds have healed. And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted. This writer is of the firm belief that our tears become holy in the form of ink on a page. Once we have spoken our saddest story, we can be free of it.”

Athens Drive HS Marching Band perform at Busch Gardens Williamsburg: 'Means so much to me'

WTVD logo

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Dr. Jerry Markoch -- or "Doc" as his students and colleagues know him -- is calling it a career after 30 years.

He is the director of the Athens Drive High School Marching Band. His students performed at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Va. Saturday at 10 a.m.

"The kids need this. They thrive on community, they thrive on doing projects together like music and having the time of their lives," Dr. Markoch said, "but it's good clean fun. I want to teach them how to be happy...so, yeah, it means so much to me."

According to the band program's website , the school's marching band had grown to nearly 200 members before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Athens Drive High School Marching Band has earned honors, including consistent 'Superior' ratings at the N.C. Concert Band Festival and many 'Grand Champion' and 'First Place' awards at local and regional marching band events.

Under Dr. Markoch's leadership, the group has performed at places like Carnegie Hall, the Outback Bowl, the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade, Washington D.C. Memorial Day Parade and Walt Disney World.

Dr. Markoch has been teaching for over 30 years at Athens Drive High School in Raleigh.

He previously was the band director at Manchester High School in Ohio for three years.

Travis Kelce Confirms ‘So High School’ Is His Favorite Taylor Swift Song: ‘A Little Biased’

Travis Kelce Confirms 'So High School' Is His Favorite Taylor Swift Song: 'A Little Bit Biased'

While the entire show had Kelce grooving to Swift’s sick beats, it was the TTPD section that occupied a special place in his heart.

Travis Kelce Confirms 'So High School' Is His Favorite Taylor Swift Song: 'A Little Bit Biased'

Travis Kelce Confirms 'So High School' Is His Favorite Taylor Swift Song: 'A Little Bit Biased'

  • FOX News Rundown

Memorial Day weekend is upon us, and while so many are packing up their luggage to get away, this week’s FOX News poll showed 55 percent of Americans are not planning to travel this summer. Why? High prices.

But travel industry leaders say not so fast; you can still vacation without breaking the bank.

Fox Business’ The Claman Countdown anchor Liz Claman speaks to President and CEO of Marriott International Anthony Capuano about the resilience of the travel industry during the pandemic, record numbers of Americans traveling this summer, and Marriott’s own insider tips on how families can vacation in luxury, even with a tight budget.
