Among many famous attractions in the area, Krishnanagar Rajbari is a pivotal historical heritage site that attracts thousands of visitors every year, especially during the auspicious festivals.
The walls of Krishnanagar Rajbari have seen various historical events over the years, filled with battles, Durga Puja, silver artifacts, and preserved galleries.

The Rajbari’s entrance is particularly notable due to its vibrant colors and colonial appeal.
In this article, you will get to know the following points about Krishnanagar Rajbari,
- How to reach
- Architecture
- Best time to visit
- Trip during Durga Puja
- Jagadhatri Puja
- Nearby attractions
Let’s see each of these points in detail.
Timings of Krisnanagar Rajbari
Krisnanagar Rajbari is open throughout the day. There are no separate timings.
Krisnanagar Rajbari Entry Fee
Krisnanagar Rajbari is free to enter.
How to reach the Krisnanagar Rajbari
You can easily reach Krishnanagar Rajbari by taking the Krishnanagar City local train from the Sealdah junction. Then you can hire a rickshaw or a cab from the railway station to take you to this beautiful Rajbari.
A local train ticket from Sealdah to Krisnanagar costs around Rs. 25.
There are many buses available from Esplanade as well. You can take any of the buses to reach Krishnanagar. From there, take an auto-rickshaw or Toto towards the Rajbari.
It would cost you around Rs. 500-700 (AC Buses).
You can also reach Krishnanagar from Kolkata in private cars or cabs via NH16. The distance is about 110 km, which takes approximately 4 hours.
History of Krishnanagar Rajbari
The beautiful grand palace or Rajbari standing in the backdrop of the beautiful blue sky represents a glorious past of 200 years. It dates back to British rule in India.
The facade tells us about the battles fought here, the illustrious Durga Puja, the preserved galleries, and the silver artifacts are the epitome of aristocracy and sublime history.
The palace is said to have been named after Krishna Chandra Ray (1728–1782). Previously, the city was known as ‘Reui.’
This Rajbari, built here during the reign of Zamindar Krishna Chandra Roy, is a popular tourist destination. However, the remnants of its former glory have eroded, and only a dilapidated structure with carvings on its inner walls remains.
The architecture of Krishnanagar Rajbari
The structure of the opulent palace of Krishnanagar is similar to a Rajasthani ‘Kothi’ but is primarily wrapped in terracotta architecture. This was Maharaja Krishnachandra’s palace and is one of the most beautiful attractions in and around Krishnanagar.
The Krishnanagar Rajbari, though underrated as a weekend destination, still draws large crowds due to its massive Thakurdalan, ancient Goddess idol, and Persian Jhumar.
The entire Thakurdalan is covered in grand arches leading to the main temple of the goddess, the Rajbari rooms, the gallery where items are displayed, and the Shiv Temples. This location is also famous for picnics due to its well-kept lawns.
The palace’s main attraction is the Durga temple.
The main shrine is said to be made of gold, and a grand festival is held in the Nat Mandir during Jagadhatri Puja. The interior of the nat mandir is beautiful to look at, especially the “Pankher Kaaj.”
Because the royal family was devotees of Lord Krishna, the entire arches and walls are adorned with beautiful carvings of the Lord and his lovers.
Just across the street, you can visit the museum and witness the plethora of historical artifacts on display, the most famous of which is the Chest of Raja Chandra, the 18th-century clay figures, swords, guns, clothes, and books.
Best time to visit Krishnanagar Rajbari
The best time to visit Krisnanagar Rajbari is in April when the Barodol Mela takes place on the Rajbari ground.
Another ideal time to visit this place is during the major festivities of Durga Puja and Jagaddhatri Puja. During this time, the palace looks glorious as the occasions take place.
Trip to Krishnanagar Rajbari during the Durga Puja
Visiting the Krishnanagar Rajbari during the Durga Puja was my long-time wish.
After a lot of planning and arrangements, I reached Krisnanagar on Mahalaya and stayed at a relative’s house. From there, I went to the Rajbari.
A different spiritual aura prevailed in the royal palace with the aroma of the Shiuli flowers and Dhuno. The entire Rajbari was beautifully decorated with flowers and light.
A fascinating thing I learned about this Rajbari is that Durga Puja getting celebrated here for the past 300 years.
The energetic beauty infused in the idol of Raj Rajeshwari Durga in the form of a warrior and a lion resembling a horse is something I cannot explain in words.
The palace was crowded, as Mahalaya means several rituals, including Chokkhu Daan.
I was strolling along the palace and learned some important facts from a caretaker.
Durga Puja was started in the palace by Maharaja Rudra Roy, the great-grandfather of Krishna Chandra Roy. Devi Durga was worshiped to bring peace and prosperity to the people of Nadia.
The beautiful Durga Temple is built in the palace’s central courtyard.
The palace is surrounded by a ‘Dighi’ or water body. The reflection of the temple and its idol on this ‘Dighi’ is simply beautiful. I clicked a few photos of the Maa Durga Idol and the Dighi.
Sadhan Pal, who passed away in 1967, created the first idol, and its appearance has undergone minor changes since then. The two hands of Devi Maa in front are shorter than the eight hands behind. The Dashavatar, as well as the Dasamahavidya, are depicted on the Chal Chitra.
After the Mahalaya, the Rani of the Rajbari begins the puja with a special Homagni or lighting of the fire. This ritual fire will continue to burn until Navami.
The ornamentation of the idol in the Raj Rajeshwari style differs from the traditional ‘Daker Saaj’ found in most Bonedi Barir Pujo in Kolkata . Rather this Saaj is known as the ‘Bedeni Dak.’
There was a time when the Sandhipujo (the puja between Ashtami and Navami) was celebrated with great fanfare by blowing the Rajbari’s cannons so the sound could be heard far and wide. The Cannons are no longer used in the Sandhipujo ritual, which is now performed with 108 lotus flowers and 108 lit lamps.
Previously, goat sacrifice was performed in Durgapujo. Things have changed, and now only sugarcane and rice are sacrificed.
According to legend, the Raj Rajeswari look is an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and happiness. The warrior goddess is thought to save the world and the people of Nadia by fighting against all evils, such as poverty, hunger, cruelty, corruption, persecution, illiteracy, suppression, immorality, gender inequality, sorrow, and pain.
After the idol is immersed, the family celebrates a ritual called ‘Shatru Badh’ as part of the four-day festival. According to legend, King Krishna Chandra (1710-1782) initiated this ritual by praying to Durga for power to eliminate people’s grievances and the evil force.
During Shatru Badh, a royal family member who represents the king takes up a bow and arrow and shoots at a clay model of the enemy.
The Sindur Khela is still a royal affair in which around 10,000 women participate. Another prominent ritual is Jatramangal, in which the king comes out to meet and interact with the people.
On all four days of the puja, visitors are given prasad. The offerings are as magnificent as the puja itself.
The offerings begin with Mahalaya, and on Saptami, seven different types of fried items are given, while on Ashtami, eight different types of fried items are given, along with pulao and Chhanar Dalna, sweets, and kheer.
Prasad on Navami is Amish (non-vegetarian) and consists of nine fried items, three types of fish, rice, and sweets. Dashami is celebrated with a special Bhog of boiled rice, Singhi fish, fruits, curd, and Khoi.
I enjoyed the puja in the Rajbari. The sound of dhak, Kanshor, and couch, the aroma of incense sticks and Dhuno, the Dhunuchi Nach, Jatramangal, and the Sindoor Khela gave me an unforgettable memory.
Before leaving for my home after spending a beautiful puja week, a relative whose house I was staying at told me to stay there until the renowned and more pronounced Jagadhhatri Puja. I was feeling so overwhelmed by the way they greeted me so warmly. But unfortunately, I could not stay back due to my work.
They told me a brief history of the Jagaddhatri Pujo in Krishnanagar Rajbari. I have penned down the history of the glorious Jagaddhatri puja below.
Jagaddhatri Pujo celebrations of Krishnanagar Rajbari
History of krisnanagar rajbari jagaddhatri pujo.
According to legends, it is said that Maharaja Krishna Chandra was once imprisoned in Munger and thus could not attend the Durga Puja in 1762. He was heartbroken because he couldn’t offer Puspanjali to Maa Durga. It was Dasami at the time, and the puja had already concluded, with the idols immersed in the river.
He was making his way back by boat. When he realized Durga puja was over, the Maharaja burst into tears. When he dozed off, he had a dream. Teenaged Debi sitting on a lion resembling a white horse, telling him not to be disheartened and informing him that the goddess would return to him about a month later on the Sukla Nabami tithi in the Bengali month of Kartick (October-November).
So he instructed an artisan to build the idol of Devi Jagatdhatri. When it was carved, it looked similar to what he had seen in his dream.
The appearance of the Devi
The goddess appeared to be a teenager, and the white lion in which she sat was facing the front.
The lion resembled the chessboard’s knight. Devi Jagaddhari had four hands and was armed with a conch (Sankha), a discus (Chakra), a bow, and an arrow.
The Maharaja would perform puja for Maa Jagaddhatri first and then enter the palace.
Rituals of Krisnanagar Rajbari Jagaddhatri Pujo
The family still follows an age-old tradition. On Nabami, all three pujas, Saptami, Ashtami, and Nabami, including Sandhi puja, are performed.
The puja begins in the morning with the offering of khichuri (a rice and pulse preparation) and nine different types of ‘Bhaja’ (fry). The bhog served here is not vegetarian and contains fish. Boli, or goat sacrifice, had ceased for ages. Instead, sugarcane, Chalkumra, and bananas are sacrificed. The Sandhi puja, which takes place after the Ashtami puja on the same day, is an iconic part of this festival.
Other attractions near Krisnanagar Rajbari
While in Krisnanagar, I decided to visit the nearby attractions, as I was eager to see how this beautiful city was all set for the grand festivity. The touch of Sarodiya Utsab was sprinkled all over the city.
Krishnanagar was very important to the Christian Missionaries. During the 1840s, the Protestant Church was built here, and I visited the church. I also went to the Roman Catholic Cathedral, built in 1898.
I knew that Krishnanagar was famous for making clay models. I visited Ghurni to glimpse the artisans and the eye-catching clay idols.
Mayapur Dham is also a must-visit destination near Krisnanagar.
As a sweet-toothed, I did not skip the golden opportunity to taste the dishes like Sarbhaja, Krishnanagar Rajbari, Sarpuria, and of course, the mouth-watering sweets of Adar Chandra Das.
These are some of the facts and information about the Krisnanagar Rajbari that you should know about.
Time had just flown like a whoosh! I didn’t want to leave this palace. But with a heavy heart, I made my way back home. Next year, I will visit the Rajbari during the auspicious Boraodol Mela and Jagaddhatri Pujo.
Krishna Nagar is one of the prime centers in Nadia . It is also one of the religious places in West Bengal and a fulcrum of important literature and culture.

After the great success of their critically acclaimed debut tour ‘Once Upon A Time’, dance stars Nadiya Bychkova and Kai Widdrington have announced they will be touring the UK again throughout June 2024 with their brand new show ‘Behind The Magic’.
The 25-date tour will begin in Gateshead on 1st June and end in Southampton on 30th June, and includes a date at London’s Peacock Theatre on 23rdJune.

For Behind The Magic, Nadiya and Kai, backed by their incredibly talented cast of singers and dancers, invite audiences back into their world to catch a rare insider’s glimpse into how all ‘the magic’ comes together.
From TV shows to commercial campaigns, photoshoots to live tours, they will be taking us behind the lens to see things from a very different perspective, highlighting the influence of some of the greatest legends, creatives and artists of the 20th century, whose impact is still felt today among some of the most successful contemporary artists .
Nadiya said, “I cannot wait for everyone to see our new show. It is so exciting to be able to throw a lifetime of my thoughts, visions and dreams into ‘Behind The Magic’ and to create something unique and inspiring with the most talented and incredible people”.
Kai added, “Starring in ‘Once Upon A Time’, our first headline tour, was the realisation of a lifelong dream for both Nadiya and I, a real career highlight. Now we get the chance to do it all over again next summer with our new show ‘Behind The Magic.’
‘We cannot wait to get back on stage together and entertain our fans once more and to be able bring the curtain down in my hometown of Southampton will be the icing on the cake.”

Me to We part was excellent. However, the communication re flights before was poor. The internal flights were badly planned. Leaving Udaipur at 3pm and arriving in Kolkata hotel at 3am to leave again at 9.30 am was ridiculous. Boat was excellent, but a lot of people got upset stomachs. No Indian spices in the curries!

The 5 best things to do with kids in the D.C. area this weekend
Looking for something fun to do with kids in the D.C. area this weekend? Here are our top picks.
(Editor’s note: The threat of rain on Saturday has led to the postponement of some events, including the Running of the Chihuahuas at the Wharf. Check websites or social media before making plans.)
Flower Mart at Washington National Cathedral
You don’t have to be a gardener to enjoy Flower Mart, the largest annual fundraiser for Washington National Cathedral’s gardens and grounds. This spring tradition, dating back to 1939, includes free entertainment from musicians, dance troupes and choral groups; activities for children, including carnival rides and an antique carousel; treasure hunting at the White Elephant Tent; food stalls offering lobster rolls and funnel cakes; floral displays created by embassies in the cathedral’s nave; and a chance to climb to the top of the cathedral’s towers. The front lawn is set up as a Flower District with vendors selling plants, herbs, bonsai, orchids, cut blooms and flower arrangements. Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free entry, with charges for games, rides and the tower climb.
Star Wars Day celebrations
The unofficial Star Wars holiday of May Fourth brings events across the district — the largest being Star Wars Weekend at Barracks Row . It consists of two days of franchise-themed parties, drink and food specials, and entertainment from participating establishments, plus a Jedi lightsaber parade. Costumes are encouraged ( Friday and Saturday; free ). Also on Friday, AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center kicks off screenings of the original trilogy ( times vary, through May 9; $10-$13 ).
Additionally, recently renovated Stead Park , located on P Street NW between 16th and 17th streets, hosts its grand reopening party with a day of “activities that will help you become a Jedi.” Look for space-themed games and story times for kids, out-of-this-world temporary tattoos, lightsabers created by a balloon artist, live music, and food from local restaurants. ( Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free. )
Around the World Embassy Tours
Dozens of countries from Albania to Zambia host open houses during the annual Around the World Embassy Tour, one of those “only in Washington” events you’ll tell friends and relatives about. How often do you have the chance to tour the British ambassador’s residence and the embassy’s gardens, watch a K-pop performance at the Korean Cultural Center, sample rum at the Embassy of Guyana, listen to Indigenous music at the Australian Embassy or enjoy traditional cuisine at the Embassy of Thailand? It’s a busy day, so start planning now, and read our tips on how to make the most of the festivities. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Free; some embassies may charge for food and drinks.
Anacostia River Festival
The final event of the National Cherry Blossom Festival — no, really — fills Anacostia Park with music and activities. Entertainment comes from go-go titans Junkyard Band, R&B singer Adamare, the U.S. Navy Band and the Anacostia High School Band. Learn how to fish with the D.C. Department of Energy and Environment, play lawn games, browse art exhibitions, or volunteer to help clean the park and the river. The 11th Street Bridge Park sponsors a Southeast Market with local vendors including fashion by the Museum and beauty products from Black Bella Spa. Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. for main activities; market until 6 p.m. Free .
Build Day at the Hirshhorn Museum
Kids 12 and younger are invited to the Hirshhorn Plaza for a midday, hands-on exploration of building and design. Budding architects can tour a city design exhibition featuring artwork by DCPS elementary students, make LED sculptures, see student-made 3D-printed building reproductions from George Washington University’s Fab Lab, and construct 3D structures from blocks, bricks and more at maker stations. Stroller parking will be available in the lobby and lower level. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free.

Madonna Brings Massive Free Concert to Rio, Capping Celebration Tour
The pop superstar performed a final date on her global trek marking four decades of hits: a set on Copacabana Beach before the largest live crowd of her career.
By Flávia Milhorance and Julia Jacobs
Reporting from Rio de Janeiro and New York
When Madonna stepped out onto the mammoth stage constructed on Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach on Saturday night in a gleaming halo headpiece and black kimono, she was greeted by the largest live crowd of her four-decade career.
The free show, announced in late March, was a grand finale to the pop superstar’s latest world tour, which has delivered 80 performances since last October . Without ticket data, concert crowd sizes can be difficult to gauge; Riotur, the municipality’s tourism department, estimated that 1.6 million people flooded onto the 2.4-mile stretch of sand on Saturday that had been turned into a roughly $12 million playground surrounding the 8,700-square-foot stage.
It was the culmination of days of Madonna-mania in the city, where talk of the singer, 65, was inescapable. Her songs spilled out of stores and car stereos. Fans assembled outside her hotel and shouted her name. Updates about the concert, which was broadcast on the network Globo TV, dominated local media reports.
The spectacle in Rio was a milestone in Madonna’s career: the victory lap for her first stage retrospective, called the Celebration Tour , in which she chronicled her rise to stardom, performing hits like “Into the Groove,” “Like a Prayer” and “Ray of Light” with a cadre of dancers, four of her six children, and a wardrobe of elaborate costuming that recalled some of her most memorable looks.
“Here we are, the most beautiful place in the world,” Madonna announced early in the concert, indicating the ocean and the mountains around her. “This is magic.” Later, she expounded on her gratitude for her Brazilian fans. “You have always been there for me,” she said. “That flag: that green-and-yellow flag, I see it everywhere. I feel it in my heart.”
The two-plus-hour Rio show hewed closely to the Celebration show, with a few exceptions: Madonna added her 2000 track “Music” to the set list, rearranged as a samba with live drummers and a special guest, the Brazilian drag star Pabllo Vittar. “Live to Tell,” staged as a tribute to victims of AIDS , included photographs of the Brazilian musicians Cazuza and Renato Russo, and the actress Sandra Bréa. For “Vogue,” Madonna appeared in a sparkly dress in the colors of the Brazilian flag and was joined by the pop sensation Anitta , who helped “judge” the competitors strutting down the runway.
The show had lifelong Madonna fans — many of whom came dressed in homage to their heroine in cone bras and lace gloves — screaming and dancing along. Ernesto Magalhães, 42, adorned in the style of Madonna’s “Material Girl” era in a gown and boa while balancing on stilts, epitomized the exuberant spirit of the occasion: “I’ve been a Madonna fan since I was 8; I couldn’t miss this.” Surya Rossi, a 31-year-old illustrator, decided on a last-minute trip from Rio Claro, São Paulo, after coordinating with her cousin, and stayed with friends. “Madonna has been a tremendous influence on me, both as a feminist and an artist,” she said. “Her empowering history and approach inspire me.”
It was also something of a landmark moment for live concerts globally. At a time of astronomical ticket prices and rising production costs for major shows, a free concert attracting a crowd of this scale is exceedingly rare, especially in the United States. California’s Coachella festival, where a three-day general admission pass starts at about $500, draws up to 125,000 attendees a day. Musikfest, a mostly free music festival in Pennsylvania, welcomed about 1.3 million visitors over 11 days last year.
“To have a free show like that in recent years is relatively unheard-of,” Katelyn Yount, the director of festivals at AEG Presents, said of Madonna’s closing show. Hangout, an upcoming music festival on Alabama’s Gulf Coast that is among the annual events AEG produces, is capped each day at about 40,000 attendees, who pay more than $300 for a three-day pass.
If a performance of this magnitude was going to be held anywhere in 2024, it would probably be in Rio, where officials have experience with enormous crowds. In 2006, about 1.5 million people attended a free Rolling Stones concert at Copacabana Beach, Brazilian police and other authorities said at the time. An even larger crowd was said to have gathered for a Rod Stewart show there on New Year’s Eve in 1994.
The idea for the sprawling event was first planted two years ago, when Luiz Oscar Niemeyer, an executive with Bonus Track, a live entertainment company based in Rio de Janeiro, approached Madonna’s managers after hearing about plans for the tour. The Rolling Stones concert in 2006 helped convince him that something like this was possible, he said.
Negotiations stalled until last year, when a Madonna show in Mexico City was announced — ticketed dates for the Celebration Tour ended up wrapping with five nights there at the Palacio de los Deportes — and Niemeyer resumed his efforts to convince the pop star’s representatives and secure funding.
“It was an ambitious project for everyone, aiming to attract the largest audience of her career, and I thought this would help me persuade her,” Niemeyer said in an interview last week.
The concert’s corporate backers include the Brazilian bank Itaú and Heineken, and the government has made a significant investment as well.
Preparation for Madonna-palooza had consumed a segment of the city in recent days. A week ago, cargo planes carried about 270 tons of concert material to the city, including costumes and gym equipment. Eighteen sound and video towers were built across the beach, and last Wednesday, 4,000 workers prepared the stage in scorching heat.
Because this was the only Celebration concert in South America — Madonna last toured there in 2012 — fans congregated from all over the continent. In the days leading up to the event, a Madonna impersonator, Izelene Cristina, danced to “La Isla Bonita” at a bus station as she welcomed travelers. She would not be attending the concert because excitement over the superstar’s performance had led to a flood of bookings.
“Such is the life of an artist,” she said. “You work to move and entertain people.”
On Monday, Madonna and her touring team of about 200 arrived in Rio, heading directly to the French Riviera-inspired Copacabana Palace, the luxury hotel near where the stage was built. Later in the week, crowds gathered as close to the stage as possible, as the pop star crossed a specially built footbridge from the hotel to the stage to rehearse with some of her dancers.
Social media was flooded with clips of Madonna running through songs including the opener, “Nothing Really Matters.” “Are you happy? Are you ready?” she asked the assembled crowd at one point . The response: wild cheering. “OK, just checking,” she replied.
At a press briefing ahead of the concert, officials discussed the safety concerns that can accompany an audience of that size and unpredictable weather on the shore. Last year, the Brazilian D.J. Alok scheduled what had been billed as the “concert of the century” on Copacabana Beach, but a storm led part of the crowd to scatter, and concertgoers were faced with rampant pickpocketing , a problem at least some faced on Saturday night as well.
Marco Andrade, a spokesman for the Rio police, told reporters that the department planned to deploy 3,200 officers at the Madonna concert, compared with about 900 for Alok’s event. He said that facial recognition technology would be used at inspection areas, in addition to drones to monitor the crowd. In the end, the audience stretched into the ocean as well — a collection of boats anchored in the waters near the venue.
The atmosphere on the ground Saturday night was like a World Cup event, street carnival and New Year’s Eve celebration combined. Street vendors offered shirts, hats, cups and fans adorned with Madonna’s face and rainbow colors, and a plethora of barbecue, grilled cheese, empanadas and the Brazilian cocktail caipirinhas were available. To fight the heat, a firefighter atop a fire truck sprayed a jet of water on the crowd.
As the show ended with a remix of her 2009 track “Celebration,” Madonna addressed the audience for a final time: “Thank you, Rio,” adding “obrigada,” the equivalent in Portuguese. She smiled and let go of a Brazilian flag, flipped a white veil over her head and descended beneath the stage.
An earlier version of this article misstated the name of the Bonus Track executive who approached Madonna’s team about the Brazil show. He is Luiz Oscar Niemeyer, not Luiz Guilherme Niemeyer.

Sleeper Picks: Wells Fargo Championship
Sleeper Picks
Change Text Size
Harris English (+5000) … He hasn’t captured victory since emerging as the survivor of an eight-hole playoff at the 2021 Travelers Championship, but the 34-year-old has been flashing vintage form for a good year now, itself about a year on from surgery for a torn labrum in his right hip. He’s well above average across the board and Quail Hollow is the site of his most recent podium finish. No one was catching Wyndham Clark for the win at last year’s Wells Fargo Championship, but English shared third in the full field (seven strokes back).
Sahith Theegala (+450) … Learning from last week’s lesson when S.H. Kim “should” have been the fourth Sleeper among the Top 5s to pay it off this year. (He finished T4 at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson.) Instead, he was slotted as the outright in this space (although there was a nod to swap him with Thomas Detry, the listed Top 5). To wit, Theegala was the original front-runner for this week’s outright, but he sets up better for the next-best reward. Any course history, good or otherwise, can be chalked up as invaluable experience because of his quick-study profile as a feel player. Of course, it’s a results-based business, but he has a stack of receipts if you need those, too. Two runner-up finishes, a solo fifth and another pair of top 10s already this season.
Brendon Todd (+600) … When a guy who never will win a long-drive contest answers the bell on a course like Quail Hollow that most definitely rewards distance off the tee, respect is even greater. Yet, he’s in the longer half of odds in the field for this finish. Ignore the slight because that’s very good for us. He placed T8 here last year but he also finished T18 in 2019, arguably the more impressive outcome given the fact that he had arrived that week at 1,560th in the Official World Golf Ranking due to an extended skid with the driver yips. No such worries nowadays. He’s 20th on the PGA TOUR in fairways hit and a classically strong 18th in Strokes Gained: Putting.
Kevin Tway (+500) … A T11 with Kelly Kraft at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans was a bonus, but it’s now sandwiched in between a solo third at Corales and a T9 at TPC Craig Ranch. He arrives for his fourth start at Quail Hollow (via the Aon Swing 5) with eight consecutive sub-70s in individual competition, so investing in a Top 20 in a field of 69, regardless of its depth and breadth, is meaty. The gamechanger of late has been his putting, and it hasn’t made a difference that he’s rolled it on paspalum, Bermuda and bentgrass the last three weeks, respectively. Pure and simple, he’s feelin’ it.
Emiliano Grillo (+210) … It’s a beautiful thing that BetMGM opened this market for the Signature Event. It’s even better than the Argentine is worth more than twice the kickback in it. Awful closing rounds in his last two paydays shoved him well away from the spotlight. He also never locked in at the Masters, but negative results on the biggest stages are forgiven. He’s still putting exceptionally well across full tournaments, so it pays to dive into that detail. Oh, and he’s gone T9-T14-T23 at Quail Hollow since 2018.
