Scotty mccreery, trending on billboard.
Heading out on the road with B&D is Scotty McCreery , known for his chart toppers including “This Is It” and “Five More Minutes.”
“Having been a huge fan of their music all my life, going out on the road with Kix and Ronnie is a dream come true for me,” said McCreery. “I can’t wait for this tour to begin!”
The tour takes its name from Brooks & Dunn’s 2019 album Reboot , which found the duo collaborating with younger country artists including Kacey Musgraves, Midland and Luke Combs on several of Brooks & Dunn’s biggest hits. Though McCreery did not appear on that project, he did recently earn another Billboard Country Airplay chart topper with “Damn Strait,” a sly nod to another ’90s country artist, George Strait.
“My first country music concert was George Strait, and along with my love for Elvis [Presley], he inspired me to become a country music singer myself,” McCreery previously told Billboard . “When I did American Idol , George called me and requested I sing his [1995] hit ‘Check Yes or No,’ and I still sing it from time to time in concert. Now, having my fifth straight No. 1 on a song that pays tribute to George, while at the same time being a classic country heartbreaker such as he might have sung, is such a full-circle moment that means the world to me. Trent Tomlinson and Jim Collins wrote a clever song that reaches beyond name-dropping Strait hits to tell a meaningful story.”
Last year, Brooks & Dunn revived the CMT franchise CMT Storytellers, and rang in 2023 as part of Nashville’s New Year’s Eve Bash.

ABOUT BROOKS & DUNN
With 20 No. 1 hits stretching back to 1991, two GRAMMY awards, dozens of ACM and CMA honors and a discography counting more album sales than any duo in history – regardless of genre – Brooks & Dunn’s influence on today’s country has never been in question. Hits like “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” “My Maria” and “Believe” have propelled the duo to more than 30 million albums sold, with the New York Times heralding “together they helped drive the power-country era of the early-to-mid 1990s and continued to benefit from the sea change in the genre they helped initiate right through their most recent albums.” Their original “Merle Haggard meets The Rolling Stones” vibe made them progressive stars in their own right. The duo’s recently released collaboration project REBOOT debuted at No. One on Billboard’s Top Country Albums. The impressive feat marks the first time the duo has topped the album charts since 2009 while simultaneously earning the duo their 10th Billboard 200 Top 10 album, the most of any country duo or group in the chart’s history. In 2019 the duo was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in the “Modern Era Artist” category. In 2021 Brooks & Dunn undertook their first nationwide tour in ten years with their anticipated The REBOOT 2021 TOUR, as well as wrapped their hugely successful and the longest-running country residency in Las Vegas, “REBA, BROOKS & DUNN: Together in Vegas.” For more information, visit www.brooks-dunn.com .

Brooks & Dunn Announce 2023 “Reboot” Tour
Trigger News Brooks & Dunn , Ronnie Dunn , Scotty McCreery --> 23 Comments
No need to go supping at the trough of close facsimiles to the 90s country music that’s so near and dear to your heart, served up by 20-somethings who weren’t even alive in the era and can only boast being “90s-inspired.” Brooks & Dunn are still alive and kicking, and can still serve up “My Maria,” “Neon Moon,” and “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” themselves, and that’s exactly what they’ll do when they embark on their “Reboot” tour in 2023. Though it’s been a good 16 years since the duo released new music, good country music never goes out of style, and the music of Brooks & Dunn proves that, arguably growing better with age the farther we get away from the 90s, which was the last time mainstream country music sounded like country music. Along those lines, Ronnie Dunn released a new album of 90s-style country called 100 Proof Neon last year that was pretty good. Perhaps some of those songs will be featured on this tour. Another tour run also lends to the question of when Brooks & Dunn proper may get back into the studio. With the swell of popularity in their music, now would be as good of a time as any. The Country Music Hall of Famers will be joined by Scotty McCreery on the 17-date arena tour. “Having been a huge fan of their music all my life, going out on the road with Kix and Ronnie is a dream come true for me,” says McCreery. “I can’t wait for this tour to begin!” Brooks & Dunn will also be playing Rodeo Houston this year on March 1st in a separate engagement. Tickets for the “Reboot” tour go on sale Jan. 27 at 10:00 am local time at brooks-dunn.com .

Rats. Closest to me is either Buffalo or Pittsburgh, neither of which is really all that close. I live in the NYC metro area.
Closest locale to NYC where they regularly appeared would be Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut. Maybe they’ll add a date there.
Maybe Brooks and Dunn will add some dates, like somewhere in Maryland, t’would be nice! The duo has recorded many songs with “Honky Tonk” in the title, they should add the Rolling Stones’ “Honky Tonk Women” to their repertoire and next album. The song would twang well with their 90s output: “You Can’t Take the Honky Tonk Out of the Girl,” “Little Miss Honky Tonk,” “Honky Tonk Stomp,” “Honky Tonk Truth,” and Ronnie Dunn’s “Honky Tonk Town.” But I digress…
They do cover “Honky Tonk Women” in concert. The most recent time I’ve heard it was when they were on Kenny Chesney’s stadium tour in 2007. I’ve heard it a few times and it’s a natural fit.
Did you read Trig’s review of Ronnie Dunn’s “100 Proof Neon” from last year? He broke down how many time Honky Tonk, Neon, and other words are used.
March 17th a country music tribute to The Rolling Stones will be officially released – Stoned Cold Country: The 60th Anniversary Tribute to The Rolling Stones.
The 2nd track: “Honky Tonk Women” – Brooks and Dunn
You’ll get your recorded track of a concert staple from Brooks & Dunn.
I was alerted to this new release by Steve Earle posting his version of “Angie.”
It looks like a list of decent artists from different sub segments of the genre. I’ll probably be able to cherry-pick a few tracks.
Crossing everything humanly possible for a UK date or two, however remote it may be. Come on boys, it’s been far too long!
Is it as profitable to make albums today as it was back in the 90s. Alot of artists were selling millions of records then, while now 50,000 a week gets you a number 1 country album for the week. Does streaming pay as well as physical albums?
I believe Spotify averages 3-5 cents per stream. I’ve been told by several artists that the best way to support them is to buy their music and merch directly from their website.
More like .003 to .005 cents per stream. In truth, if an artist has a good fan base, gets playlisted, this can add up very quickly, and the bigger ones can make a living off of it easily. But for a band just starting out especially, merch sales to a core fan base is how they make it happen.
Re-Dunn from 2020 was a great album.
I’ll be there in Pittsburgh, May 12th. We were all supposed to go to see Brooks & Dunn in 2020, but the world shut down. Not all of us are going to this remake show, because some don’t like driving into the city (2020 was supposed to be at Star Lake, 30 miles outside the city near the WV border).
From 1996-2008, I attended 11 Brooks & Dunn concerts (the last one with ZZ Top). it will be good to see/ hear them live again.
Ronnie Dunns voice live is something to experience. I also got to see them in ‘96 ‘97 ‘98 and I believe the last one was 2005? Anyone that loves 90s country should go see this tour!
Scotty McCreery is an interesting and laudible addition to the tour. He is one of the good guys.
Brooks and Dummy are the most overrated manufactered BS ever puked upon the dumbass masses.,..
Cringe attempt at trying to use elitist humor perhaps study someone that’s good at it
Wikipedia says: “After announcing their retirement in August 2009, they performed their final concert on September 2, 2010, at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.” LOL. Retire, reboot, repeat. It’s the KISS formula.
Tastes differ for sure, but to this listener, B&D just didn’t produce any music that really holds up over time. The tunes always struck me as sort of manufactured and bland.
You strike me as manufactured and bland. 🙄 Clean the shit out of your ears, and you might see why they accomplished what they did.
I’ll Never Forgive My Heart, Days of Thunder, South of Santa Fe, Red Dirt Road, Indian Summer, My Next Broken Heart, We’ll Burn That Bridge, That Ain’t No Way To Go, Hard Workin Man……
And so many more.
Some of their stuff is crap (late 90s, early 2000s) but they have put out a ton of classic country songs and they are great in concert.
Brooks and Dunn still put on quite an amazing show. Very talented duo! I hope to catch their Columbus show. With this mention of their newly announced tour, I can’t help but think about another often related artist that equally deserves a mention. Last year Reba kicked off her first headlining arena tour in over a decade, selling out many of the shows and fulfilling 30 some dates, plus 17 more this spring…capped off w a Madison Square Garden show. Throw in Terri Clark and Jo Dee Messina! These 90s ladies deserve some serious recognition too. We are blessed they are all still performing.
Say what you really think
The first cassette tapes I purchased with my own money were Brand New Man and and Jerry Reed’s Greatest Hits. Neon Moon still resonate with me after all these years, because I lived it for a long time. Same bar every night, same people. All with stories of highs and lows.
My rosaries and prayer books are gone . I hate everyone today

Brooks & Dunn is an American country act comprised of singer/songwriters Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn. The two troubadours have been together since the early 90s and are recognized as essentials of the Nashville music scene, earning praise for with their catchy dance hall tunes and rambling country rockers.
Before Brooks and Dunn became the hit duo they are known as today, each musician got his start behind the scenes, writing songs for artists with the stature they dreamed of possessing and one day would eventually exceed. Brooks a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, got his start in the music industry playing varying venues in the state of Maine. He later moved to Nashville in 1979 and wrote several hit singles for big time acts such as John Conlee, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Oak Ridge Boys, Nicolette Larson, and Keith Palmer.
Ronnie Dunn was born and raised in Coleman, Texas, which does not come to much of a surprise as the influence of Texan country swing pioneer Bob Willis permeates through his style. Dunn’s original intentions were to become a Baptist preacher; however, he had a mutual passion for music. The latter of the two got the better of him as his stints playing in bars eventually got him kicked out of Hardin-Simmons University and resultantly put his pursuits as an evangelist on hold. Dunn later moved to Nashville and caught the attention of Tim DuBois, an executive of Arista Nashville. DuBois concocted the idea of pairing Dunn with Brooks and after hearing their collaborative demo he was convinced that they should act as a duo.
Brooks & Dunn were an instant success. A year after their formation they released their debut single “Brand New Man”, which hit no.1 on the Hot Country Songs in June 1991. This track was featured on their 1st studio album (also entitled “Brand New Man” ) alongside four other hit singles “My Next Broken Heart”, “Neon Moon”, “Lost and Found”, and “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”. The album went to no. 3 on the US Billboard Top Country Albums charts, no. 10 on the US Billboard 200 and has since gone on to sell over 6 million copies. Their sophomore release “Hard Workin’ Man” matched the success of their triumphant debut. It peaked at no. 9 on the US Billboard Charts and included 5 singles that entered in the top 5 of the US Country Singles Chart.
The 90s proved to be a prolifically creative time for the duo. They spewed out hit after hit, releasing 2 country chart topping albums “Waitin’ on Sundown” and “Borderline”, which housed no.1 singles such as “She’s Not the Cheatin’ Kind”, “Little Miss Honky Tonk”, “You’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone”, “My Maria”, and “A Man This Lonely”. Though the team were only four albums into their career a greatest hits compilation was more than warranted. In fact the hits were so profuse a 2nd greatest hits compilation arrived in 2004.
Brooks & Dunn exemplified they still held their charm with their 5th studio album “If You See Her”. Like their previous releases the album was a commercial success reaching no.4 on the US Billboard Top Country Albums and sporting three no.1 singles: “If You See Him/If You See Her”, “How Long Gone”, and “Husbands and Wives”.
Their hot streak came to an end with their 6th studio album “Tight Rope”. While the album was in no way a commercial flop it failed to live up to the standard set by it’s predecessor; however, it did peak at no. 6 on the US Billboard Top Country Albums and featured the no.5 hit single “You’ll Always Be Loved By Me”.
The duo more than picked up the “slack” in the 2000s, releasing three consecutive albums to top the country charts “Steers & Stripes”, “Red Dirt Road”, and “Hillbilly Deluxe”. Five of their singles from this period claimed the no.1 spot on the Country singles chart and in the midst of all this they also released a widely popular Christmas album “It Won’t Be Christmas Without You”.
On 2 October 2007 Brooks & Dunn released their final studio album “Cowboy Town”. It was followed by two additional compilation albums: “Playlist: The Very Best of Brooks & Dunn” and “#1’s... and Then Some” as well as their farewell tour “The Last Rodeo”. After 20 years together the two musicians amicably parted ways to pursue solo careers; however, at the beginning of 2015 they reunited to perform a series of shows in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Live reviews
With over 30 million albums sold worldwide, Brooks and Dunn are the second highest selling musical duo of all time, runners up only to Simon and Garfunkel. With 10 studio albums and just under 20 years touring under their belts, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn knew how to put on a show before their retirement in 2010. The duo would emerge on stage looking more American than apple pie, with buffalo skulls heading their drum kit and spurs knocking on their boots, the pair on the ‘Last Rodeo Tour’ would open with rowdy honky tonk numbers ‘Play Something Country’ and ‘Put a Girl in It’.
The hits would keep on rollin’, Louisiana born Brooks brooding, and Ronnie Dunn, Texan through-and-through, charging around the stage, letting the confetti fly as the patriotism was notched up to 11 with the inclusion of the song both Bush and Obama used in their Presidential campaigns “Only in America”.
The night would undoubtedly come to a close with arguably the duo’s biggest hit and the saviour of line dancing “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” and the pair would inevitably bring down the house. It doesn’t get more red, white and blue than a Brooks and Dunn concert, and it’s a shame one of the most ‘Murica bands of all time have bowed out, but line dancing will be forever grateful for the contribution of these legends to country music.

Brooks and Dunn, a band named after it’s two members Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, is coming back from retirement in order to perform one last whistle stop tour. Brooks and Dunn is one of the most successful musical duo bands of all time, second only to the legendary Simon and Garfunkel. Legends in their own right, Brooks and Dunn spent twenty years performing together and have sold over 30 million albums worldwide. Their incredible success and enormous fan following is awe inspiring. The amount of people who came to see them perform one last time was phenomenal and the atmosphere all night was electric, one of the rowdiest and exciting atmospheres I have ever experienced at a country performance. Brooks and Dunn rocked on to stage looking as quintessentially American as you could possibly imagine, cowboy boots and all. They entertained the crowd with their upbeat, honky tonk hits such as ‘Neon Boots’, ‘My Maria’ and ‘You Can’t Take the Honky Tonk Out of the Girl’. The amount of thigh slaps and ‘yee haws’ was unbelievable. Brooks and Dunn put on one hell of a show, guitars proudly in hand, and ended the night with the countrytastic classic ‘Boot Scootin’ Boogie’.
It seems to be impossible to get Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn offstage. After promising a final performance in 2010 before their retirement, they return in 2015 for a series of concerts much to the delight of their large fanbase. The incredibly successful duo has sold millions of country records globally so they have no issue in packing out venues time and time again.
The rapport the two musicians share is absolutely electric so it would seem foolish for them to go separate ways. They clearly enjoy playing out the material and they have a great live band formed to aid them in the recreation of the long discography. The fans are completely behind them regardless of age, they all sing with huge enthusiasm during the classics including 'Only in America' and 'Ain't Nothing 'bout You'. It is crazy to think they have only ever released one single in their whole career that didn't make the US top 20 so collating the material is tough yet they manage it well and finish on a high of 'Fancy'.
Best concert ever. We were 4 rows back from the stage. And at the end of the concert brooks and Dunn sang only in America with 6 United States Army people standing and saluting us. That was really awesome.
You guys are so awesome I love your music I listen to it all the time on YouTube my favorite song is neon Moon in my Maria God bless you both..♥️

The best-selling duo of all time, Brooks & Dunn, have announced their 2023 return to arenas around the nation, with their Reboot 2023 Tour.
Seventeen cities will experience their show featuring multiple timeless hits including a date here in Orlando with special guest Scotty McCreery.
The duo will appear at Orlando’s Amway Center on Saturday, June 10, making their debut performance at Amway Center and their first appearance in Orlando in 15 years.
Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, January 27 at 10 a.m. ET.
“Last year, you all reminded us just how much fun it is to walk out on that stage and share the night with ya! We love what we do, but we’re just surfing your wave …can’t wait!!” Kix Brooks said at the announcement.
“The Brooks and Dunn posse rides again,” states Ronnie Dunn. “More excited to hit the big stage as we ever have been! Unbelievable band of friends.…annnnnd YOU! Together, let’s rock the house!!”
“Having been a huge fan of their music all my life, going out on the road with Kix and Ronnie is a dream come true for me,” adds McCreery. “I can’t wait for this tour to begin!”

2024 Masters odds, field: Surprising PGA picks, predictions from same golf model that's nailed 10 majors
Sportsline's proven model simulated the masters 2024 10,000 times and revealed its pga golf picks for augusta national.
Currently sitting at 13-4 in the 2024 Masters odds, Scottie Scheffler will be one of the biggest Masters favorites in history when the 2024 Masters begins Thursday at Augusta National Golf Club. Being a heavy favorite hasn't been a recipe for success at Augusta, however. In fact, only two of the past seven winners have entered the tournament with single-digit Masters odds, and that span has seen three winners who had pre-tournament odds of 30-1 or higher. Intriguing 2024 Masters sleepers who could fit that mold this year include Collin Morikawa (30-1), Dustin Johnson (33-1), Tony Finau (35-1) and Bryson DeChambeau (35-1).
Though injuries have taken a major toll on his career, Tiger Woods at 100-1 is one of the triple-digit 2024 Masters longshots that is tough to ignore, given his past success at Augusta. Which golfers should you include in your 2024 Masters best bets and 2024 Masters pick'em selections? Before locking in any 2024 Masters picks of your own, entering picks on sites like DraftKings or FanDuel, or finalizing Masters props and Masters Pick Six entries, be sure to see the 2024 Masters golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .
SportsLine's proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up nearly $9,500 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament. McClure's model predicted Scottie Scheffler would finish on top of the leaderboard at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit at +9000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,000. The model also predicted Jon Rahm would be victorious at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scheffler winning in 2022. In addition, McClure's best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson, and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic. This same model has also nailed a whopping 10 majors entering the weekend, including the past two Masters. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.
Now that the Masters 2024 field finalized, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.
Top 2024 Masters predictions
One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 Masters: Rory McIlroy, a four-time major champion and one of the co-favorites, fails to complete the career grand slam and barely cracks the top five at Augusta National. The world's No. 2-ranked golfer is off to a rough start in 2024, with his highest finish through his first five starts being 19th at the Players Championship.
Putting was an issue for McIlroy at the start of the season, as he previously ranked 129th in that area (-0.246). While he has improved to 83rd on the PGA Tour (0.036) and his total shots gained (0.610) is 40th, he is still 123rd in shots gained approaching the green (-0.176). While there appears to be small improvements in his game, his finishes this season are why the model is low on him.
Another surprise: Ludvig Aberg, a 25-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. The 24-year old Swede was the No. 1 amateur in the world for more than six months before turning pro in June 2023.
He wasted little time racking up impressive finishes, winning the 2023 RSM Classic and finishing second at the 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship on the PGA Tour, while winning the Omega European Masters on the Euro Tour. He's kept that momentum in 2024, recording six top-25 finishes in eight events and already piling up nearly $4 million in winnings. Fuzzy Zoeller was the last golfer making his Masters debut to win it all, so Aberg's longer Masters odds 2024 make sense, but he's had one of the more dynamic rookie seasons in recent PGA history, making him a solid value for 2024 Masters bets, according to the model. See who else to pick here .
How to make 2024 Masters picks
The model is also targeting four other golfers with odds of 20-1 or longer to make a strong run at the green jacket. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model's picks here .
Who will win the 2024 Masters, and which longshots will stun the golfing world? Check out the Masters 2024 odds below and then visit SportsLine to see the projected Masters leaderboard, all from the model that's nailed 10 golf majors, including last year's Masters and Open Championship .

2024 CMT Music Awards: Toby Keith Tribute Brings Family To Tears
(Photo by Jeff Kravitz/Getty Images for CMT)
Brooks & Dunn, Sammy Hagar, Riley Green, Lukas Nelson, Lainey Wilson and former Major League Baseball player Roger Clemens team to pay tribute to Toby Keith with one of the most memorable performances at the 2024 CMT Music Awards Sunday night.
Keith, who sold more than 44 million albums and recently received a posthumous induction into the 2024 Country Music Hall of Fame, lost his prolonged battle with cancer in February.
Throughout his career, the proud Oklahoman released 61 singles that charted on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, and 32 of them made it to No. 1. In 2021, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts.
The three-song tribute kicked off Brooks & Dunn doing a reimagined version of Keith’s breakthrough hit “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” which reduced Keith’s family to tears in the audience. At the end of the last chorus, Brooks took his cowboy hat off and raised it in the air.
Hagar changed things up a bit when he took his turn in the spotlight. The ‘80s rocker explained he and Keith had spent much time together in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, over the years and had closed down his Cabo Wabo Cantina many times.
“It’s hard to get thrown out of your own bar, but we did it,” Hagar said.
Keith’s band backed every song in the tribute and launched into “I Love This Bar,” which Hagar covered with gusto as if it were his own hit.
Nelson and Green shared memories of Keith and introduced Wilson to close out the medley.
She bounded onstage for a fervent cover of “How Do You Like Me Now,” complete with a football field on the screen behind her.
Clemmons took the stage, asked the audience in the center and watching on television to raise their red solo cups in the air and repeat after him – “Whiskey For My Men, Beer For My Horses.”
He thanked Keith’s kids and his wife, Tricia, for sharing her husband with the world, provoking Keith’s family to tear up again.

It’s was Toby Keith’s night at the 2024 Country Music Television (CMT) Awards.
The late country singer died in February at the age of 62 following a long battle with stomach cancer. Even though he wasn’t there in person, every person in the auditorium felt his presence throughout the night as many artists paid tribute to Keith’s legacy.
The tributes started showing up on social media well before the show, which aired on April 7. On X, the official Toby Keith account shared a touching photo of artists such as Brooks and Dunn , Lainey Wilson and Sammy Hagar gathered with Keith’s band to rehearse for the ceremony.

The musical tribute kicked off with Brooks and Dunn performing “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” with Keith’s band supporting them. Behind the artists, a wall of TVs played videos and photo montages of Keith throughout his career. From the audience, you could see Keith’s family, including his wife Tricia, and children Shelley, Krystal and Stelen, singing along and wiping away tears.

Before the show, Keith’s children talk with the media about attending the show and the emotional impact it was having for the family.
“It’s our first public outing, so it’s very bittersweet,” Shelley explained in a CNN video from the red carpet. “It’s going to be emotional. We’re doing our best to keep the tears in.”
Sammy Hagar took the stage wearing a bright jacket and a white T-shirt emblazoned with “Toby” on the front. Hagar did a rousing rendition of Keith’s “I Love This Bar.”

While all of the performances were a tribute, there was no mistaking the music gave a party-like atmosphere to the event. And, to wrap it all up, former MLB pitcher Roger Clemens took to the stage and led everyone in a toast to honor the late, great Toby Keith. Performers and audience members all had a red Solo cup for the toast, which was another callout to Keith’s legacy.

Jelly Roll celebrated another big night in Austin with sweeping win at the 2024 CMT Awards
The biggest stars in country music shone brightly at the Moody Center in Austin Sunday at the 2024 CMT Awards.
Jelly Roll was the night's top winner, bringing home three trophies, including the night's top honors, and delivering three impassioned speeches.
Brittney Spencer and Parker McCollum collaborated for a fiery performance of their song "Burn It Down." Sam Hunt channeled Johnny Cash's concert in Folsom Prison when he hit the stage with his new song "Locked Up."
And it was a night of firsts. Trisha Yearwood debuted a new song on stage, giving a moving performance of the brand new tune "Put It In A Song." Keith Urban performed his new song "Straight Line" live for the very first time.
The most moving moment of the night, though, was an emotional tribute to the late Toby Keith. The "Should've Been A Cowboy" singer died in February after battling cancer. Honoring him onstage through song were Brooks & Dunn, Lainey Wilson and rock legend Sammy Hagar.
2024 CMT Awards: Winners and nominees from this year's show at Austin's Moody Center
Jelly Roll wins three awards, delivers rousing speeches
Jelly Roll was the talk of the town at this year's CMT Awards.
At one point, Kelsea Ballerini joked that instead of giving out gift bags at this year's ceremony, they'd be giving out Jelly Roll hugs. He went on to hug Ballerini, TV personality Gayle King, and other country stars in the audience.
And then, Jelly Roll took home three big awards: Video of the Year for "Need a Favor," Male Video of the Year and CMT Performance of the Year.
For each win, he delivered a speech.
In his first speech, he said that CMT gave him an opportunity to perform “Need a Favor” for the first time on live television at last year's awards. He thanked his wife, daughter and fans, noting that his life has changed so much since his first time attending the CMTs in 2023.
In his second speech, Jelly Roll said, "Thank you to CMT, man. I couldn't believe it y'all gave me a chance last year...I came back this year on fire, baby! I'm having one of the greatest nights of my life!"
Jelly Roll then said he wanted to stand on stage tonight and "represent those that are looking for second chances." He addressed people in juvenile detention facilities today, directing his speech to them.
"I'm cheering y'all boys on," he said. "You can be this guy. You can change. You can be this guy. I promise you can, baby!"
In his final speech of the night, Jelly Roll cheered on fellow nominees Cody Johnson and Kelsea Ballerini, thanked his manager, publicist and the rest of his team. Again, he thanked his wife Bunnie XO, saying she "finds beauty in broken things."
Jelly Roll closed out the night with a performance of his song "Halfway to Hell," complete with bursts of flames, a walk through the audience and his powerful, rumbling vocals.
Brittney Spencer and Parker McCollum 'Burn It Down'
Parker McCollum and Britney Spencer performed song "Burn It Down" together towards the top of the show. Among red lights on a smoke-filled stage, the two's harmonies soared and flames blazed behind them.
In front of a screen showing a house ablaze, two sang, "Burn it down 'til its ashes and smoke / Burn it down to the smolderin' coals." The duo's fiery performance was met with explosive applause.
Trisha Yearwood recieves Humanitarian Award, debuts new song
Trisha Yearwood was awarded CMT's new June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award , making history as the first artist to be honored by CMT for her devotion to giving back.
Some of Yearwood's philanthropic endeavors include working with Habitat for Humanity efforts like the Carter Work Project and National Women Build Week .
The "XXX's And OOO's" singer delivered a moving speech as she accepted the award. "June Carter Cash was a force, and she was also married to a force," Yearwood said, referencing Johnny and June Carter Cash's relationship and nodding to her own with fellow country star Garth Brooks.
"My hope is that we can all learn a little bit from June Carter Cash’s legacy, and be a little bit more real, be a little bit more vulnerable, be a little bit less about 'me,' and a little bit more about 'us.'”
Yearwood had another big moment at the night's awards ceremony.
She debuted her brand new tune "Put It In A Song." She gave an earnest, bare-bones performance of the vulnerable song, standing firmly center-stage, backed by two acoustic guitars.
Yearwood sang, "All the pain and all the hurt / When it's too hard just to say the words / I find my pen and pour it on the page / Grab a guitar and just play."
Sam Hunt channels Johnny Cash in song 'Locked Up'
A clean-cut Sam Hunt hit the stage to perform his new song "Locked Up" at the 2024 CMT Music Awards. Wearing a black suit and white dress shirt, Hunt brought some “Folsom Prison Blues” vibes to the CMT stage.
Hunt released "Locked Up," the title track of his new EP, last week. "It was sort of meant to be a callback, a nod, to Johnny Cash's concert at Folsom Prison," he told The Tennessean. "That's what we're going for."
Hunt channeled Cash's performance closely, even including some actors in prison garb watching him perform and cheering along.
Hunt's song, too, draws from personal experience after Hunt spent time in jail in 2021 due to DUI charges . He sang, "The night I got locked up, everything went wrong / The night I got messed up, should've just stayed home."
Little Big Town, Sugarland cover Phil Collins' 'Take Me Home'
Before musical group Little Big Town and duo Sugarland hit the stage together, Kelsea Ballerini announced that the two acts would be touring together this fall. The two groups will kick off the tour in October and end in Nashville with a Dec. 13 show at Bridgestone Arena.
Then, the six performers—Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet, Jimi Westbrook, Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush—took the CMT stage and brought the house down with a cover of Phil Collins' 1985 hit "Take Me Home."
Smoke poured off the stage and lights strobed as they hit powerful harmonies, standing together in line. "Take, take me home / Take, take me home," they sang.
Lainey Wilson, Brooks & Dunn and Sammy Hagar perform Toby Keith tribute
Brooks & Dunn, rocker Sammy Hagar and Lainey Wilson hit the stage to honor the late Toby Keith in song. Keith, known for his country song "Should've Been a Cowboy," died in February after battling stomach cancer .
Brooks & Dunn started the tribute with a performance of "Shoulda Been a Cowboy" that had the audience singing along.
Next, Sammy Hagar took the stage wearing a Toby Keith t-shirt. Keith was a dear friend of Hagar's—the two spent a lot of time in Cabo San Lucas singing and partying at Hagar's bar. "It’s hard to get thrown out of your own bar and we managed to do that," he told the crowd.
Hagar performed a hearty cover of Keith's song "I Love This Bar," one he used to sing with Keith in Cabo.
Lainey Wilson finished out the tribute with song "How Do You Like Me Now?," which had the audience singing along again.
Holding red Solo cups in honor of another Keith song, the crowd and performers raised their cups and sang along.
Baseball pitcher Roger Clemens took the mic at the end of the tribute, asking the crowd to chant "Whiskey for my men and beer for my horses." He teared up as he thanked Keith's widow and his children for sharing their dad with the world.
