How we Choose

If you are a Bank of America travel cardholder, booking a trip through the bank’s travel center is a great option for redeeming points. However, you might be able to find a better deal on another booking platform.

The content on this page is accurate as of the posting date; however, some of our partner offers may have expired. Please review our list of best credit cards , or use our CardMatch™ tool to find cards matched to your needs.

The Bank of America content was last updated on Feb. 14, 2022.

If you have the Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card , Bank of America® Premium Rewards® credit card  or Bank of America® Business Advantage Travel Rewards World Mastercard® credit card* , you might have considered booking your next trip through the Bank of America Travel Center. However, does the Bank of America Travel Center offer good value, or are you better off redeeming points for an outside travel purchase?

Bank of America points are very flexible, and cardholders can book travel on a third-party travel site and redeem rewards for that purchase up to a year after it was made. That means you can hunt for a great deal without worrying about losing any point value. On the flip side, Bank of America Travel Rewards and Business Advantage Travel Rewards cardholders get a higher rewards rate on purchases made through the Travel Center – making it tempting to book through Bank of America.

What is the Bank of America Travel Center?

The Bank of America Travel Center is the bank’s travel booking platform, designed for travel rewards cardholders to easily redeem their points for flights, hotels and car rentals. Eligible cardholders can access the Travel Center directly from their online account to make booking their next vacation simple.

How to book a trip through the Bank of America Travel Center

When you sign into your Bank of America credit card account, you can view all the ways you can redeem your points. To get to the Travel Center right from this page, just select “Book now.”

america travel center

Through your account, you’ll be able to search for a flight, hotel or car rental just like you would with any third-party booking site.

america travel center

Booking flights

When you search for your preferred flight in the Bank of America Travel Center, you’ll be able to easily filter between your preferred airlines. Each search result has a score out of 10 to help you determine if it’s a good deal and flight path.

america travel center

Booking hotels

Like booking a flight, booking a hotel on the Bank of America Travel Center is very straightforward. You just enter in information about your destination and travel dates. In the search results, some properties with good deals or temporary discounts are flagged as “Special Price” to help you ensure you find the best deal.

america travel center

Booking car rentals

The final travel purchase you can book on the Bank of America Travel Center is a rental car. Once again, the search is very straightforward, and you’ll be presented with a wide variety of rental car providers.

america travel center

Unfortunately, the Bank of America Travel Center doesn’t offer vacation packages, cruises, experiences or other kinds of travel purchases – like many other bank travel portals.

Drawbacks to booking travel through the Bank of America Travel Center

Though the Bank of America Travel Center is certainly easy to use, there are a few drawbacks to booking this way.

No hotel elite benefits

If you are part of a hotel loyalty program , you might not be able to take advantage of your elite status perks when you book through a third-party booking site. Since Bank of America points are flexible and can be redeemed for most travel purchases, frequent travelers who want to enjoy these benefits might be better off booking directly with the property itself and redeeming points for a statement credit after the fact.

Only Bank of America travel cardholders can book through the Travel Center

While some travel portals – like American Express Travel – allow anyone to book a trip on the site, the Bank of America Travel Center is limited to cardholders who earn travel rewards with the bank. If you have a checking or savings account with Bank of America or a card that just earns cash back, you can’t take advantage of the platform.

Is booking through the Bank of America Travel Center worth it?

While booking through the Bank of America Travel Center is certainly convenient, it doesn’t have much that separates it from booking on another site. You’ll get the same point value either way, and prices are competitive across booking platforms.

Bank of America Travel Center rates compared to other booking sites

In general, the prices you can find on the Bank of America Travel Center are competitive with rates on other sides. For example, take this flight from Charlotte to Chicago.

america travel center

Whether you book the trip through Bank of America, United or Priceline, it’ll cost you the same amount.

Though prices are not typically better than other sites, there is one case where booking through Bank of America makes more sense. If you have a Bank of America Travel Rewards or Business Advantage Travel Rewards card, you get a higher rewards rate on purchases made through the portal. To quickly rack up points to use toward your next trip, book on the Bank of America Travel Center.

Tips for maximizing the Bank of America Travel Center

  • Always compare prices to other booking sites to ensure you are getting the best deal. You can redeem points for a statement credit to cover an outside travel purchase.
  • Pay any cost you can cover with points with a Bank of America Travel Rewards card or Business Advantage Travel Rewards card to earn bonus points on those purchases.
  • Keep an eye out for special prices on hotels to save on your next trip.

Bottom line

The Bank of America Travel Center is a straightforward booking platform and an easy way to redeem your rewards. If you have a Bank of America Travel Rewards card, you can also earn extra points on purchases made there. However, since you can redeem points for an outside travel purchase retroactively, there aren’t many other perks to booking through Bank of America.

Bank of America Travel Rewards® Credit Card

The Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card offers several ways to maximize your rewards — including earning double points when you book travel through the Bank of America® Travel Center. But the most significant boost comes from having one or more investment accounts with Merrill. And the more money you have in those accounts, the bigger your rewards.

Here's how to make the most of the Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card .

Get the loyalty bonus

With the Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card , everyone gets 1.5 points for every $1 spent. Enroll in the Bank of America Preferred Rewards® program, and the bonuses increase to 25%, 50% or 75%, depending on your combined balances at Bank of America® and Merrill:

Say you spend $1,000 a month on the card, or $12,000 a year. At 1.5 points per dollar, you'd earn $180 in rewards. Bonuses really start to climb when you have Preferred Rewards status:

Getting the loyalty bonus is a simple way to boost your rewards, but, of course, simple isn't the same as easy . Having $20,000, $50,000 or $100,000 in combined accounts is easy to say, hard to do.

Use the Travel Center

The Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card boosts your rewards to 3 points per $1 spent on travel booked through the Bank of America® Travel Center. That includes flights, hotel nights, rental cars — everything except insurance. There's no limit on the extra points you can earn this way.

The card also comes with a solid sign-up promotion, so make sure you spend enough to qualify for it: 25,000 online bonus points after you make at least $1,000 in purchases in the first 90 days of account opening - that can be a $250 statement credit toward travel purchases. . Other travel cards offer bigger sign-up bonuses, but those cards typically come with an annual fee. You can't beat the Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card 's annual fee of $0 . Like most travel credit cards, this card doesn't charge a foreign transaction fee.

Take an interest rate break

New cardholders get an interest rate break: 0% Intro APR for 15 billing cycles for purchases, and for any balance transfers made in the first 60 days. After the Intro APR offer ends, a Variable APR that’s currently 19.24% - 29.24% will apply . You'll be able to rack up points without worrying about the interest piling up, too.

You should be aware, though, that balance transfers will incur a fee: 3% for 60 days from account opening, then 4% .

How to redeem rewards on the Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card

It's just as easy to redeem points as it is to earn them. Simply make a restaurant or travel-related purchase with your card, then redeem your points for statement credit to offset the purchase. Points are worth 1 cent apiece when redeemed for travel. And when you think "travel" purchases, think outside the box. The Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card 's definition of travel is wider than many other cards', including amusement parks, art galleries, circuses, aquariums, zoos and many other things as travel expenses.

The ability to redeem for credit against restaurant and travel purchases offers tremendous flexibility. You can book travel any way you want, fly on any airline, stay at any hotel. There are no blackout dates or restrictions.

You can also redeem points for gift cards or to make a cash deposit into one of your Bank of America®, Merrill Edge® or Merrill Lynch accounts®, but you'll get a much lower redemption value per point. Still, with the bonus percentages, you can earn almost as much as a card that pays a higher reward rate.

Pay more, earn more

A key element of the Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card 's appeal is the $0 annual fee. If you're willing to pay an annual fee, you can get a higher rewards rate even without loyalty bonuses. Take the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card . Here's what it offers:

Annual fee: $95 .

Sign-up bonus: Enjoy a one-time bonus of 75,000 miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within 3 months from account opening, equal to $750 in travel.

APR: The ongoing APR is 19.99%-29.99% Variable APR .

Rewards: Earn 2 miles for every $1 spent with no limit on how much you can earn. Miles can be redeemed for travel and restaurant purchases at a rate of 1 cent per point.

But if you don't want to pay an annual fee, and you want rewards that are easy to earn and redeem, the Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card is a smooth ride.

  • A three-month average combined balance of $20,000 or more in eligible Bank of America accounts and/or Merrill investment accounts

Also, keep in mind that the Bank of America Preferred Rewards program offers additional perks like savings boosters and loan discounts for members with cash on deposit. The following chart shows how much more you could earn in rewards as a member, as well as how much you need to keep in eligible accounts to qualify for each tier.

While the minimum balance requirements are high, the Bank of America Preferred Rewards program can help you earn considerably more points on your spending if you qualify. For example, Bank of America Premium Rewards credit card members in the Platinum Honors tier have the potential to earn up to 3.5X points for every dollar spent on travel and dining purchases and up to 2.62X points on other purchases.

Compare pricing in the travel portal

The Bank of America Travel Center lets you make travel bookings with over 200,000 hotels and resorts and more than 200 airlines, among other options. Since some Bank of America travel rewards credit cards let you redeem your points for either travel-related statement credits or travel booked through the Bank of America Travel Center, you should compare the prices offered in the travel portal with other travel sites. By comparing prices, you can make sure you get the best deal.

Decide whether a card with an annual fee is right for you

Finally, make sure to think about your goals before you sign up for a travel credit card from this issuer. It’s often tempting to just choose a card with no annual fee — and that might be the right move for you. However, a card with an annual fee typically comes with more benefits and perks. For example, when you pay the $95 annual fee for the Bank of America Premium Rewards card, you’ll get higher rewards rates on travel and dining spending, up to a $100 annual credit for incidental airline expenses to cover eligible costs and up to a $100 application fee credit toward Global Entry or TSA PreCheck membership every four years. All of this could easily make the annual fee worthwhile for some people.

The bottom line

Bank of America travel rewards can work differently depending on the card you sign up for, so make sure to compare the best rewards cards available before you decide on a card. In the meantime, spend some time comparing cards from this issuer to top travel rewards credit cards from other major issuers. You may find that Bank of America has what you’re looking for in a travel rewards card, but you’ll never know for sure unless you check.

bp leans into convenience and mobility across US, agrees to purchase leading travel center operator, TravelCenters of America

  • Adds a network of around 280 travel centers, strategically-located on major highways across US; complementing bp’s US convenience and mobility business.
  • $1.3bn cash acquisition within bp’s $16-18bn frame, with acquisition multiple of around six times based on last 12 months’ TravelCenters EBITDA (4Q21-3Q22) i
  • Adds EBITDA immediately, expected to grow to around $800m by 2025, underpinned by investment, integration value and synergies
  • Expected to deliver over 15% returns and be accretive to free cash flow per share from 2024.
  • Almost doubles bp’s global convenience gross margin.
  • Brings growth opportunities for 4 of bp’s 5 transition growth engines including convenience, EV charging, biofuels/renewable natural gas (RNG) and, later, hydrogen.

HOUSTON – BP Products North America Inc., a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of BP p.l.c. (NYSE: bp) has reached an agreement to purchase TravelCenters of America (Nasdaq: TA), one of the country’s leading full-service travel center operators. The acquisition, which is subject to regulatory and TravelCenters of America shareholder approval, will be for $1.3 billion in cash.

TA’s strategically-located network of highway sites complements bp’s existing predominantly off-highway convenience and mobility business, enabling TA and bp to offer fleets a seamless nationwide service. In addition, bp’s global scale and reach will, over time, bring advantages in fuel and biofuel supply as well as convenience offers for consumers. It will provide options to expand and develop new mobility offers including electric vehicle (EV) charging, biofuels, renewable natural gas (RNG) and later hydrogen, both for passenger vehicles and fleets.

Map of the TravelCenters of America locations

Convenience is one of bp’s five strategic transition growth engines in which it aims to significantly grow investment through this decade. By 2030, bp aims for around half its annual investment to go into these transition growth engines. Over 2023-2030 it aims that around half of its cumulative $55-65 billion transition growth engine investment will go into convenience, bioenergy and EV charging.

Bernard Looney, CEO bp, said: “This is bp’s strategy in action. We are doing exactly what we said we would, leaning into our transition growth engines. This deal will grow our convenience and mobility footprint across the US and grow earnings with attractive returns. Over time, it will allow us to advance four of our five strategic transition growth engines. By enabling growth in EV charging, biofuels and RNG and later hydrogen, we can help our customers decarbonize their fleets. It’s a compelling combination.”

“This is bp’s strategy in action. We are doing exactly what we said we would, leaning into our transition growth engines. This deal will grow our convenience and mobility footprint across the US and grow earnings with attractive returns.”

Bernard looney, chief executive officer.

The acquisition is expected to bring around 280 TravelCenters of America sites, spanning 44 US states nationwide, into the bp portfolio. These travel centers, which average around 25 acres, offer a full range of facilities for vehicles and fleet trucks, including more than 600 full-service and quick service restaurants, as well as truck maintenance and repair services. Around 70% of TA’s total gross margin is generated by its convenience services business, almost double bp’s global convenience gross margin.

Dave Lawler, chairman and president of bp America: “Subject to approvals, we look forward to welcoming the TA team to bp. TA's amazing nationwide network of on-highway locations combined with bp's more than 8,000 off-highway locations have the potential to offer travelers and professional drivers a seamless experience for decades to come.”

bp yesterday announced plans to invest $1bn in EV charging across the US by 2030.

As part of the transaction, TA will enter into amended lease agreements with Service Properties Trust (NASDAQ: SVC), establishing long-term real estate access. bp looks forward to continuing TA’s existing strong relationship with SVC.

The acquisition price of $1.3 billion, or $86 per share, represents a multiple of around 6 times based on last twelve months’ TA EBITDA (4Q21 to 3Q22) i . It is expected to add EBITDA for bp immediately, growing to around $800 million in 2025.

It supports delivery of bp’s convenience and EV charging growth engine target of more than $1.5bn EBITDA in 2025 and aim for more than $4bn in 2030. bp expects the acquisition to be accretive to free cash flow per share from 2024 and to deliver a return of over 15%.

  • Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC is acting as lead financial adviser to bp, Robey Warshaw LLP is acting as financial adviser to bp, and Sullivan & Cromwell LLP is acting as lead legal adviser to bp.
  • Bernard Looney, chief financial officer Murray Auchincloss and EVP, customers & products Emma Delaney will host a webcast presentation to discuss this agreement today, 16 February 2023, at 1600GMT/1100EST.

Cautionary statement

In order to utilize the ‘safe harbor’ provisions of the United States Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995 (the ‘PSLRA’) and the general doctrine of cautionary statements, bp is providing the following cautionary statement.

This document contains certain forecasts, projections and forward-looking statements – that is, statements related to future, not past events and circumstances – with respect to the financial condition, results of operations and businesses of bp and certain of the plans and objectives of bp with respect to these items. These statements are generally, but not always, identified by the use of words such as ‘will’, ‘expects’, ‘is expected to’, ‘targets’, ‘aims’, ‘should’, ‘may’, ‘objective’, ‘is likely to’, ‘intends’, ‘believes’, ‘anticipates’, ‘plans’, ‘we see’ or similar expressions. In particular, the following, among other statements, are all forward-looking in nature: expectations in relation to the completion of the transaction described including the outcome of regulatory and shareholder approvals and the amount and form of the consideration; expectations in relation to future services and offers from TA and bp including in relation to fuel and biofuel supply as well as convenience offers; expectations that the transaction will provide bp with options to expand and develop new mobility offers including electric vehicle charging, biofuels, renewable natural gas and hydrogen; bp’s plans and expectations to grow its transition growth engines (TGEs) through this decade including that investment into bp’s TGEs will be around half of bp’s total capital expenditure by 2030 and for cumulative capital expenditure into TGEs to be $55-65 billion over the period 2023-2030; expectations regarding EBITDA from TA’s business, including expectations to grow that EBITDA through to 2025 underpinned by growth, integration value and synergies; expectations regarding the delivery of bp’s 2025 target and 2030 aim for combined EBITDA from its convenience and EV charging TGEs; expectations that the acquisition will be accretive to free cash flow on a per share basis from 2024; expectations relating to the transaction’s rate of return; expectations in relation to the impact of the acquisition on bp’s convenience gross margin; plans and expectations regarding the impact of the transaction on bp’s financial frame including expectations for bp’s annual capital expenditure and allocation of that expenditure; expectations relating to bp’s announced plans to invest $1 billion in EV charging across the United States by 2030; and plans and expectations relating to bp’s strategy, including bp’s transformation to an integrated energy company.

By their nature, forward-looking statements involve risk and uncertainty because they relate to events and depend on circumstances that will or may occur in the future and are outside the control of bp. Actual results or outcomes, may differ materially from those expressed in such statements, depending on a variety of factors, including the risk factors discussed under “Risk factors” in bp’s Annual Report and Form 20-F 2021 as filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission and in any of our more recent public reports.

Our most recent Annual Report and Form 20-F and other period filings are available on our website at www.bp.com , or can be obtained from the SEC by calling 1-800-SEC-0330 or on its website at www.sec.gov .

Reconciliations to GAAP:

Adjusted net income, adjusted net income per share of common stock attributable to common stockholders, EBITDA, adjusted EBITDA, and adjusted EBITDAR are non-GAAP financial measures. The U.S. generally accepted accounting principles, or GAAP, financial measures that are most directly comparable to the non-GAAP measures disclosed herein are included in the supplemental tables below.

Fourth Quarter 2021 Highlights:

  • The following table presents detailed results for TA's fuel sales for the 2021 and 2020 fourth quarters.
  • The following table presents detailed results for TA's nonfuel revenues for the 2021 and 2020 fourth quarters.
  • Net income of $12.8 million increased $20.0 million, or 278.2%, and adjusted net income of $13.2 million improved $11.7 million, or 813.8%, as compared to the prior year period.
  • Adjusted EBITDA of $52.9 million increased $17.1 million, or 47.9%, as compared to the prior year period.
  • Adjusted EBITDAR was $117.1 million for the three months ended December 31, 2021.

Growth Strategies

TA's Transformation Plan consists of numerous initiatives across its organization for the purpose of expanding its travel center network, improving and enhancing operational profitability and efficiency, and strengthening its financial position all in support of its core mission to return every traveler to the road better than they came.

Since the beginning of 2019, TA has entered into franchise agreements for 59 travel centers to be operated under TA's travel center brand names, including 26 new agreements in 2021. Four began operations during 2019, ten began operations during 2020 and five began operations during 2021, and TA expects the remaining 40 to open by the second quarter of 2024.

TA's capital expenditures plan for 2022 is expected to be in the range of $175.0 million to $200.0 million and includes projects to enhance the guest experience through significant upgrades at TA's travel centers, the expansion of restaurants and food offerings and improvements to TA's technology systems infrastructure. Approximately 75% of TA's capital expenditures in 2022 are focused on growth initiatives that TA expects to meet or exceed TA's 15% to 20% cash on cash return hurdle.

Importantly, TA is committed to embracing environmentally friendly sources of energy through its eTA division, which seeks to deliver sustainable and alternative energy to the marketplace by working with the public sector, private companies and customers to facilitate this initiative. Recent accomplishments include continued expansion of TA's biodiesel blending capabilities, increasing the availability of diesel exhaust fluid, or DEF, at all diesel pumps nationwide and placement of electric vehicle charging stations. TA believes its large, well-located sites may provide it with the opportunity to make both fossil and, eventually, non-fossil fuels available throughout its nationwide network of sites.

Conference Call

On Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time, TA will host a conference call to discuss its financial results and other activities for the three months and year ended December 31, 2021. Following management's remarks, there will be a question and answer period.

A live audio webcast of the conference call will also be available in a listen only mode on TA's website at www.ta-petro.com . TRAVELCENTERS OF AMERICA INC. RECONCILIATION OF NON-GAAP FINANCIAL MEASURES AND OTHER DATA (dollars in thousands, except per share amounts)

TA believes the non-GAAP financial measures presented in the tables below are meaningful supplemental disclosures. Management uses these measures in developing internal budgets and forecasts and analyzing TA's performance and believes that they may help investors gain a better understanding of changes in TA's operating results and its ability to pay rent or service debt when due, make capital expenditures and expand its business. These non-GAAP financial measures also may help investors to make comparisons between TA and other companies and to make comparisons of TA's financial and operating results between periods.

The non-GAAP financial measures TA presents should not be considered as alternatives to net income (loss) attributable to common stockholders, net income (loss), income (loss) from operations, operating margin, total fuel gross margin and nonfuel revenues or net income (loss) per share of common stock attributable to common stockholders as an indicator of TA's operating performance or as a measure of TA's liquidity. Also, the non-GAAP financial measures TA presents may not be comparable to similarly titled amounts calculated by other companies.

TA believes that adjusted net income (loss), adjusted net income (loss) per share of common stock attributable to common stockholders, EBITDA and adjusted EBITDA are meaningful disclosures that may help investors to better understand TA's financial performance by providing financial information that represents the operating results of TA's operations without the effects of items that do not result directly from TA's normal recurring operations and may allow investors to better compare TA's performance between periods and to the performance of other companies. TA calculates EBITDA as net income (loss) before interest, income taxes and depreciation and amortization expense, as shown below. TA calculates adjusted EBITDA by excluding items that it considers not to be normal, recurring, cash operating expenses or gains or losses.

In addition, TA believes that, because it leases a majority of its travel centers, presenting adjusted EBITDAR may help investors compare the value of TA against companies that own and finance ownership of their properties with debt financing, since this measure eliminates the effects of variability in leasing methods and capital structures. This measure may also help investors evaluate TA's valuation if it owned its leased properties and financed that ownership with debt, in which case the interest expense TA incurred for that debt financing would be added back when calculating EBITDA. Adjusted EBITDAR is presented solely as a valuation measure and should not be viewed as a measure of overall operating performance or considered in isolation or as an alternative to net income (loss) because it excludes the real estate rent expense associated with TA's leases and it is presented for the limited purposes referenced herein. TA calculates EBITDAR as net income (loss) before interest, income taxes, real estate rent expense and depreciation and amortization expense and adjusted EBITDAR by excluding items that it considers not to be normal, recurring, cash operating expenses or gains or losses.

TA believes that net income (loss) is the most directly comparable GAAP financial measure to adjusted net income (loss), EBITDA, adjusted EBITDA and adjusted EBITDAR, and that net income (loss) per share of common stock attributable to common stockholders is the most directly comparable GAAP financial measure to adjusted net income (loss) per share of common stock attributable to common stockholders.

The following tables present the reconciliations of the non-GAAP financial measures to the respective most directly comparable GAAP financial measures for the three months and years ended December 31, 2021 and 2020.

Warning Concerning Forward-Looking Statements

This press release contains statements that constitute forward-looking statements within the meaning of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995 and other securities laws. Whenever TA uses words such as "believe," "expect," "anticipate," "intend," "plan," "estimate," "will," "may" and negatives or derivatives of these or similar expressions, TA is making forward-looking statements. These forward-looking statements are based upon TA's present intent, beliefs or expectations, but forward-looking statements are not guaranteed to occur and may not occur. Actual results may differ materially from those contained in or implied by TA's forward-looking statements. Forward-looking statements involve known and unknown risks, uncertainties and other factors, some of which are beyond TA's control. Among others, the forward-looking statements which appear in this press release that may not occur include:

  • Statements about increased and improved operating results may imply that TA will realize similar or better results in the future and that TA's business may be profitable in the future. TA operates in a highly competitive industry and its business is subject to various market and other risks and challenges. As a result, TA may not be able to realize similar or better results in the future and it may fail to be profitable in the future for these or other reasons. Since TA became publicly traded in 2007, TA's operations have only occasionally generated profits;
  • Statements about TA's Transformation Plan and the numerous initiatives it consists of across its organization and the purpose of these initiatives may imply that TA will achieve these initiatives and that it will realize the benefits it expects from doing so. However, TA may not complete these initiatives, may take longer to complete, and cost more than it expects, to complete these initiatives, and TA may not realize the benefits it expects;
  • Statements about TA's focus on driving top line growth through continued operational improvement, while maintaining focus on cost discipline. TA's focus and related efforts may not succeed in this regard or to the degree it expects;
  • Statements about TA's capital plan and the resulting benefits TA expects. Capital plans may take longer to complete and cost more than expected. Further, the projects pursued may not turn out as planned and may result in TA not realizing the benefits it expects;
  • Statements about TA's targeted returns of 15% to 20% on its capital expenditures. TA may not realize those returns;
  • Statements about the commitment of TA's 2022 capital expenditures plan being in the range of $175.0 million and $200.0 million. TA may spend less or more than that amount. In addition, in light of supply chain and other conditions, TA may be further delayed in executing and completing its capital plan, similar to the experiences in 2020;
  • Statements about expected opening of new franchised locations and expecting to expand TA's network by entering into new franchise agreements. TA may not succeed in entering these agreements and the commencement and stabilization of any new franchises may not occur, may be delayed or may not open, and these franchises may not be successful or generate the royalties for TA that it expects;
  • Statements about the amount of TA's liquidity may imply that it has sufficient liquidity to fund its business. However, TA's business is capital intensive, requiring TA to expend significant capital on maintaining its properties. In addition, TA has other capital projects and investments that it intends to pursue. As a result, TA may not have sufficient liquidity in the future if its operations are not profitable and do not generate sufficient cash or it is unable to obtain additional capital to fund its capital needs and debt obligations; and
  • Statements about TA's commitment to embrace environmentally friendly sources of energy through its eTA division, as well as the objectives it seeks to achieve and the accomplishments it has recently achieved. This may imply that TA will achieve these objectives and that it will benefit as a result. However, the alternative fuel market is still in its early stages and it is not clear which, if any, of those fuels and technologies will achieve commercial success and scale. As a result, it is uncertain how TA's business may change, adapt or evolve for the new fuels and technologies. TA's pursuit of any of these may not be successful and it may incur losses with respect to these efforts. Further, any benefits TA may realize from these efforts may not be sufficient to offset declines TA may experience in its business if the market moves from fossil fuels to non-fossil fuels.

The information contained in TA's periodic reports, including TA's Annual Report on Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2021, which has been or will be filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, or SEC, and TA's Quarterly Reports on Form 10-Q for the periods ended March 31, 2021, June 30, 2021 and September 30, 2021, which have been filed with the SEC, under the caption "Risk Factors," or elsewhere in those reports, or incorporated therein, identifies other important factors that could cause differences from TA's forward-looking statements. TA's filings with the SEC are available on the SEC's website at www.sec.gov .

You should not place undue reliance upon forward-looking statements. Except as required by law, TA does not intend to update or change any forward-looking statement as a result of new information, future events or otherwise.
