Very nice trip. The tours are good. The city tour in puerto Pricessa was very poor.

10/10 My partner and I are seasoned travellers and usually plan our own holidays. However both of us had extremely hectic schedules in the back end of 2023 and so we went outside of our comfort zone and booked an entire 2 week island hopping tour of the Philippines through Guide To The Philippines (GTTP)! I have to say at first it was pretty daunting, handing over our precious holiday to someone else, but we are SO GLAD WE DID!! This is a team of passionate professionals who did absolutely everything they could to ensure we had a fantastic holiday! The tour itself was incredible, we did the 12-Day Puerto Princesa, El Nido, Coron, Cebu & Siargao Island Hopping Philippine Tour Package experience; possibly a bit too hectic, as we also bolted on all of the additional extras, but that was more us, biting off more than we could chew and in hindsight we don’t regret a thing! I am going out of my way to especially say that you are in very safe hands with the GTTP team! Here is what I experienced: 1. Excellent communication - the team write better English than most native speakers. I never had a language barrier. 2. Efficient - emails were responded to quickly and left no stone unturned, so no constant back and forth 3. Professional - always maintained professionalism, despite I was high maintenance from time to time and they may have wanted to kill me at times (lol) 4. 24/7 - I had support around the clock via email, WhatsApp and iMessage 5. Account Management - not sure if it’s intentional, however we seemed to have one particular agent who took care of most things, like she was assigned to us. Her name was Richel and she is just incredible! You are in fantastic hands if Richel is on your side!!! That said, if Richel was away, the other team members took great care of us also 6. Caring - I felt like I was being taken care of and they were always one step ahead and it filled me with confidence and joy to know they had my best interests at heart. 7. Good Value - Whilst on the tour you get an idea of pricing for each component and given the level of service we received this was incredible value We chose the comfort accommodation package and with the exception of one, the hotels were incredible! We provided feedback to GTTP about the hotel that wasn’t great, and they are looking into it. GTTP literally took care of every single component of our tour. We had daily emails explaining the itinerary for the day ahead with contact details for the tour providers and transport providers. All of our internal flights were organised perfectly. You will be very well taken care of if you choose to book a trip in the Philippines with GTTP. I have not been incentivised or pressured to write this review. It’s just so great to have an exceptional customer experience like my partner and I have had in the lead up and during our holiday! Thanks GTTP and especially Richel for being awesome and having curated a trip and a thousand memories that we will never forget!!! Luke, 40 Australian Eduardo, 39 Colombian

1. watch the sardines run in moalboal.

The Moalboal Sardines Run, a captivating experience off the coast of Moalboal in Cebu, awaits adventurous travelers. Right in front of Savedra Dive Center, near Panagsama Beach, millions of sardines gather just 30 meters from the shore. This proximity makes the experience remarkably accessible, even for those not adept at swimming. However, safety comes first; if swimming isn’t your forte, don a life jacket and grab a life ring.

Dive into this underwater spectacle where, alongside the sardines, you might spot sea turtles or even dolphins leaping through the waves. Early risers are in for a treat; dolphins often make an appearance at 5 a.m. For the best experience, consider timing your visit during the Philippines’ dry season, between November and May. This period offers optimal conditions for this aquatic journey.

Panagsama Beach is more than just sand and sea; it’s the gateway to one of Cebu’s most extraordinary experiences. The Sardines Run here is a must-see, offering a peek into a rarely seen underwater world. Imagine capturing incredible photos of sea turtles and dolphins amidst a sea of sardines – a memory to cherish forever. To make the most of your visit, our Moalboal Day Tour Package  guides you through this coastal paradise, ensuring a seamless and unforgettable adventure. Tucked away in the southernmost nooks of Cebu lies the quaint town of Oslob, a place that’s as rich in charm as it is in sea-bound adventure. Picture this: a chance to paddle alongside the world’s largest fish, the whale shark, in their turquoise playground. Intriguing, isn’t it?

5. Hike to the Highest Point in Cebu

Osmeña Peak, at 1,013 meters above sea level, is Cebu’s highest point. It’s a favorite hiking destination because of the stunning views and picturesque rough hills, which are reminiscent to Bohol’s Chocolate Hills.

The hike begins gently and then becomes steeper as you progress. When you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with a spectacular 360-degree panorama of Cebu Island and its surrounding islands. There are various rest spots where you can pause and enjoy the scenery.

Osmeña Peak is worth a hike if you’re up for a challenge! You’ll not only get to see some of Cebu’s most gorgeous scenery, but you’ll also feel a sense of accomplishment after reaching the summit. For those interested in experiencing this remarkable adventure, consider embarking on an Osmena Peak Hiking Tour or explore our Top 5 Must-Hike Mountains in Cebu to plan your perfect mountain adventure.

6. Explore Cebu's Magnificent Falls

Alright, waterfall chasers, strap on those hiking boots, and let’s get soaked! Cebu is practically a waterfall wonderland, teeming with cascades that tumble, ripple, and roar—truly a sight for the soul!

Sitting pretty at the top of the fame ladder is our celebrity cascade – Kawasan Falls, in the lovely town of Badian. It’s not just a waterfall but a tropical dream where you can splash around in crystal-clear pools or soak in the breathtaking vistas—it’s practically a postcard come to life!

But don’t think that’s all the waterfall wealth Cebu has to offer. Oh no, we’re just getting started! Tumalog Falls, Inambakan Falls, and Mantayupan Falls, each more spectacular than the last—are Cebu’s best-kept secrets, waiting for you to discover them.

Each cascade is like a fresh adventure story, a thrilling chapter in your Cebu expedition diary. So get ready to bask in the misty spray, the thunderous roar, and the ethereal beauty of Cebu’s many waterfall wonders. Remember, this isn’t just about ticking off a travel list; it’s about diving headfirst into the heart of nature’s marvels!

Kawasan Falls

The Kawasan Falls is easily accessible by a hike along the Badian National Highway. However, the most popular way to reach Kawasan is by a canyoneering expedition through the forest. This is one of the best things to do in Cebu if you enjoy squeezing around stones, jumping off cliffs, and floating in the water through the beautiful jungle. If you’re looking for guided tours to explore Kawasan Falls and experience the thrill of canyoneering, check out our Kawasan Falls Cebu Tour Packages .

Binalayan Falls

The Binalayan Falls, also known as the Hidden Falls, is a hidden treasure awaiting discovery. It features a spectacular 30 to 45-foot cliff jump ideal for adventurers. This location is easily accessible and essential for waterfall hunting in Southern Cebu.

Locals refer to this location as “Hidden Falls” because of its unique structure. The name “Hidden Falls” is derived from the fact that visitors must ascend the first level to witness its hidden splendor. Other locals also refer to this location as “Triple Drop Falls” because of the three distinct streams that cascade over the plunge pool. The plunge pool at Binalayan Falls is 9 feet deep and overflows into the river with refreshing water. As time passes, the running water creates rock formations and small chambers by undermining the soft rock. These chambers provide the ideal conditions for cliff jumping.

Dao Falls is a must-see travel destination in Samboan, Cebu. With a height of 120 meters, it is the tallest waterfall in the town, and its turquoise catch basin is gorgeous. The best way to view the falls is by trekking to the top of the limestone wall. The journey is relatively easy and takes about 30 minutes. From the top, you can truly appreciate the majesty of Dao Falls. If you’re lucky, you might even see a rainbow formed by the mist generated by the waterfall. So, don’t forget to add Dao Falls to your travel itinerary when visiting Samboan in South Cebu!

Tumalog Falls

Tumalog Falls is a renowned tourist destination in Oslob, Southern Cebu. The waterfall’s crystal clear water cascades from a height of roughly 100 meters. At the base of the falls, there are various little pools where you can swim and rest. You can explore the falls, swim in the pools, and just sit back and enjoy the scenery. The location is a fantastic spot to visit and see.

Inambakan Falls

The jaw-dropping Inambakan Falls is nestled in the serene municipality of Ginatilan. This hidden gem is part of Cebu’s illustrious waterfall family, each member absolutely spellbinding!

Inambakan Falls is a glorious five-tiered waterfall, with the main cascade plummeting majestically from a height of 100 feet into a cool, emerald basin. It’s the kind of scene that sparks up Instagram envy and fills up travel journals with tales of awe.

Venture further and you’ll find the other tiers, each a smaller cascade, yet equally captivating. The verdant foliage encircling the falls, the tranquil ambiance, and the gentle mist in the air meld together to create an enchanting, almost otherworldly, waterfall experience.

This cascade queen is lesser known compared to its siblings like Kawasan and Tumalog, making it a peaceful escape for those seeking a slice of waterfall heaven sans the crowds. The trail leading to Inambakan is a blend of simple and moderate hikes, making it a delightful venture for both novice and seasoned hikers. And the best part? The reward is a tranquil dip in the soothing waters, with nothing but the melodious chirps of the local avifauna and the soft whispers of the cascading water to serenade you.

Getting to Inambakan may be a humble quest, but the sights, sounds, and serenity you’ll encounter are nothing short of royal. It’s a place where nature unveils its grandeur in the form of shimmering waters and serene surroundings—a true testament to Cebu’s endless natural allure.

Chasing Waterfalls Cebu Tour Packages are available for those looking to explore more of Cebu’s breathtaking waterfalls. If you’re interested in discovering even more stunning waterfalls in Cebu, be sure to check out our article on the Best Waterfalls in Cebu for more inspiration.

7. Experience Kawasan Falls Canyoneering

If you’re looking for an extreme adventure, look no further than canyoneering at Kawasan Falls! While the tour is highly-reputable and safe, it does entail jumping off 30-foot cliffs into rivers, swimming in natural pools, and rappelling down cliffs.

This tour is not for the faint of heart. It is reserved for experienced adventurers who have done similar activities before and know what they’re getting into. These tours are best enjoyed by those who enjoy extreme sports and want to try something new.

The tour includes three beautiful waterfalls that cascade into natural swimming pools and lagoons that are accessible via jungle trails. It doesn’t get more extreme than this! If you’re ready to book your thrilling adventure in Cebu, check out our Private Kawasan Falls Canyoneering Tour or Cebu Canyoneering Tours to secure your spot!

8. Dive in or sail away from Mactan Island

Mactan Island is the perfect place to visit when you want to combine a relaxing vacation with exciting activities. You can dive, snorkel, kayak, parasail, windsurf, sail, or go deep sea fishing in the waters of Mactan Island. Sailing and various water sports are ideal in and around the island. For water sports enthusiasts, Mactan Island offers a plethora of options. Mactan Water Sports provides thrilling experiences and a chance to explore the vibrant underwater world through scuba diving and snorkeling. Scuba diving is accessible for both expert and novice divers. Within a half-hour boat trip from Mactan Island, there are over 20 diving sites filled with marine life. 9. Visit Simala Castle Church

If you’ve been to the Philippines, chances are you’ve been to one of its many religious sites. Cebu is a popular tourist destination for locals partly because of its religious sites where Catholics can make a pilgrimage (The Philippines is mainly a Catholic country). The most prominent of these is the Simala Shrine Church. What makes this Catholic church unique is its castle-like structure.

Apart from this, it is believed that prayers and petitions offered with the intercession of the monks come true. Thus, most locals offer prayers when they’re about to undergo significant life undertakings, like board examinations, surgeries, etc. Tourists and non-Catholics can also catch a glimpse of the religious structures, architecture, and spacious and green environment.

For those interested in exploring the beauty of Simala Shrine Church and its religious significance, Simala Cebu Tours offer guided tours and a deeper understanding of the cultural and spiritual importance of this remarkable site. Additionally, travelers seeking a comprehensive experience can opt for Simala Cebu Tour Packages that include a visit to Simala Shrine Church along with other notable attractions in the Cebu region.

10. Go Scuba Diving at Malapascua Island, Cebu

If you want to discover the Philippines’ best-kept diving secret, look no further than Malapascua Island. Over 100 international education agents join Cebu ESL fam tour

Cebu ESL

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – Cebu hosted over a hundred international education agents from four Asian countries, who came here for the Grand ESL (English as a Second Language) International Familiarization Tour, the biggest of its kind since the Philippines launched education as a tourism product in 2010.

The education agents from Japan, China, Taiwan, and Vietnam came to Cebu to also inspect ESL schools and accommodations and meet with learning program providers.

Gelena Asis-Dimpas, chief tourism operations officer of the Department of Tourism in Centra Visayas (DOT-7), said that the visit held from April 15 to 19 was “a significant milestone in the evolution of Cebu as a prime ESL destination.”

“We look forward to an upward growth path for Cebu and Central Visayas where ESL is concerned. We have the tourism fundamentals in place and continue to improve on existing conditions,” Dimpas said.

Pursuant to theNational Education Tourism Strategic Action Plan, the DOT has sustained assistance to the international education sector through its continued presence in emerging markets, facilitating better travel connectivity to and from these markets, rationalization of the Special Student Permit fees, enforcement of safety standards, training of ESL teachers, and development of off-program tourism destinations.

The ESL7 program earned Cebu the top spot among English language learning destinations in the Philippines. The country itself is ranked by the Lucerne-based EF Education First Group second only to Singapore among 23 Asian nations assessed for English proficiency. It holds the 20th spot on the global index for 2023.
