For a 3 hour cruise it took almost 90 mins and my friend finally ate a bread roll and was given a plate of raw vegetables as a starter. When we complained they steamed them. I ordered ravioli which was a small tasteless bowl of food. After more than 2hours the main course arrived. Classed as chicken but more the size of a poussin, it came with raw sprouts and a couple of potatoes. Distinctly average. My friend ordered gnocchi which came with cheese so as a vegan it had to go back. It was cold and tasteless when it came back. The only available dessert for my vegan friend was fruit which she doesnt eat. I ordered tirimisu which was inedible. More of a tough Yorkshire pudding with some weird disgusting custard type cream. This all arrived virtually as the cruise was ending. If we had wanted steak or prawns this would have been an extra cost. I remind you this is classed as a premium dinner cruise. No alcohol or soft drinks were included and we paid $531 for the privilege of raw inedible food. When I spoke to the chef and manager of the cruise they were both extremely embarrassed. A joke. This was our last night in Chicago and we though a premium dinner cruise would be a lovely way to remember the city. There were 30 of us and we we so delighted by the whole experience. As soon as we boarded for the the night cruise the staff were sooo wonderful. Gabriella was the manger on duty and she greeted us as we boarded and was so attentive throughout the whole cruise. Our Fabulous waitress was Heather and she was soo amazzing too. The bar staff were also great too . We were in total awe of the delicious food. Lovely choices and served to perfection. The DJ played great music . How to prepare?

• Weather dependency : Rain or shine, the experience will be running. Decks are climate controlled.
• Arrival : Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes in advance to board the boat.
• What to wear:  Cocktail attire (collared shirts, sports coats, blouses, skirts and dresses).
• What to bring:  You may not bring explosives, firearms, illegal substances, or any articles of a dangerous or damaging nature, as determined in our sole discretion, that could be harmful to yourself or others.
• Restrooms/ lockers/ changing rooms : There will be restrooms on board.

• We recommend that you arrive 40 minutes before your cruise is scheduled to depart as you’ll need to pick up your tickets before boarding the ship.
• Your tickets will be available at Odyssey Cruise box office , located right beside the boat – you can’t miss it! Just mention your name or the confirmation number we sent to you at the time of booking.

There will be no cruises available on the following dates (2020):  2/14-16, 4/12, 5/10, 6/21, 7/4, 11/23, 12/24-25, 12/31, 2/14/2021

• IMPORTANT: Once made, your reservation is not automatically confirmed. Upon receiving your request, a member of our team will purchase the ticket(s) and email them to you. In the case of no availability, your reservation will be canceled and you will be refunded the full price.
• The ticket value includes the boat trip exclusively; transportation to the boarding point is not included.
• This service has a 100% penalty for cancellation after reservation. Date and time changes will not be allowed after confirmation of purchase.
• We recommend arriving 40 minutes in advance for check-in, as the boat starts to board 10 minutes before the departure time and leaves at the scheduled time.
• These summer cruises run from May 25 to August 31. Keep in mind that not all cruises have daily departures.
• The cruise may be canceled at the last minute if the minimum number of sales required has not been met or if the boat has been chartered for a private party.
• In case of cancellation on behalf of the company, the amount paid will be fully refunded or the passenger may be offered a change in ticket for a different vessel or date .
• Chicago Travel & Tours is not responsible for damage or inconvenience caused by cancellation of the cruise.
• The fireworks show is offered by the City of Chicago and Navy Pier. The cruise company and Chicago Travel & Tours are not responsible for a refund in the case of cancellation due to the fireworks display.
• In case of a storm, the ship will be anchored at the pier, but the onboard services (shows and food) will be served normally . In this case, the customer will receive some sort of upgrade (possibly open bar), but a refund will not be possible. We are not responsible for any inconvenience caused by meteorological conditions.

Yes, please arrive 40 minutes before your cruise is scheduled to depart to allow enough time to pick up your cruise tickets and get onboard.

No, guests are responsible for arriving at the meeting point themselves. The meeting point is located at a very easy to find, popular location which, depending on your hotel location, can be reached on foot or by a short taxi ride.

Children are welcome to join all brunch, lunch, and dinner cruises.

Yes, please let us know at the time of booking as a special request, and we will do our absolute best to accommodate your dietary needs.

Yes, the Odyssey Cruise box office, located right beside the boat – you can’t miss it!

Drinks are not included on any of the cruises and must be paid for separately by the passenger.

Yes, after the cruise, the ship will dock back into the same place that it departed from.

A Snob’s Guide to Chicago

Is this list exhaustive? Maybe not. But it is highly opinionated, and that’s all that really matters.

I started visiting Chicago regularly after college, when my closest friends moved there. We went to the old Bistro 110 and felt very proud when we graduated to drinks at the Violet Hour and the Aviary, and then dinner at the Publican and Girl & the Goat (still favorites). There are things on this list I’ve loved for 30 years. Others became musts more recently. I also get a little help from my highly opinionated friends and family. Let’s call them the HOFs.

1. Check into the recently refreshed and perfectly located Park Hyatt Chicago. Ask for a lakeside room (on an upper floor). The Lake Michigan and Park Suites feel as if you are actually on the water.

2. “Walker Bros. for breakfast!” HOF and Chicago native Brooke Garber Neidich advises. “49ers pancakes, very crispy bacon, fresh-squeezed OJ.”

3. Take an architecture cruise. I like the Chicago Architecture Center River Cruise. I do this every time.

4. Have lunch at RL. Before Polo Bar in New York, before Ralph’s in Paris, there was RL in Chicago. It’s the OG.

5. Check into the Peninsula Chicago. Also right there on the Magnificent Mile. Have afternoon tea in the lobby and dumplings at the Shanghai Terrace. In winter ask about the skating rink!

6. The Langham (and its big, gorgeous rooms) is also a favorite.

7. Walk along Michigan Avenue to the Art Institute. (On the way, take your Kapoor Bean selfie.) The Thorne Miniature Rooms are a must, as is the Seurat that inspired Sondheim and Grant Wood’s American Gothic . The museum website has a great “what to see in an hour” guide.

8. ”The Field Museum of Natural History is also fabulous,” interjects HOF William Li. “The Hall of Jades! Go.”

9. “And the Fairy Castle at the Museum of Science and Industry!” Brooke says.

10. Riverwalk? Yes, says HOF Kate Chappell, news anchor for NBC Chicago. “End with sunset views at Tiny Tapp.”

11. Do the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio tour in Oak Park. Ice cream at Petersen’s (around since 1919) afterward.

12. “Go see Robie House,” says my HOF niece and Chicago undergrad, Cayla, of Wright’s landmark. Reservations required. Afterward “get a Mediterranean omelet ­cafeteria-style at Valois, and try to sit at President Obama’s table, or have excellent Southern-inspired food at Roux.”

13. See a show at the Goodman Theatre. The hot ticket for 2024 will be Taylor Mac and Rob Ashford’s Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evi l (June 25–August­ 4).

14. And at the Steppenwolf. Laurie Metcalf will star in an as yet untitled show. It doesn’t get more Chicago than that.

15. And anything at the Lyric Opera.

16. “ The chorizo-stuffed bacon-wrapped ­medjool dates at Avec,” I say.

17. “A steak and a martini at Gene & Georgetti!” Brooke says.

18. “The tuna crudo and stracciatella appetizer at Rose Mary,” Cayla says. (I second this, and also a walk around the Fulton Market District.)

19. “The Hong Kong–style roast meats at Sun Wah BBQ,” William says.

20. “ The chicken pot pie, truffle bucatini, and the burger at Armitage Ale House,” Cayla says.

21. “Pasta at Monteverde. Any of them,” says basically everyone you will ever talk to.

22. “The thin crust pizza at Nancy’s in West Loop,” Kate says. That’s all I’ll say on the pizza matter.

23. The Kalamata chicken at the Athenian Room. It’s how Chicago theater royalty Carrie Coon and Tracie Letts celebrate their anniversary. (If that doesn’t matter to you, the rest of this list might not either.)

24. Wait in line for the Au Cheval burger. It’s a rite of passage. Same goes for dinner at Alinea. I have never been, and am ashamed.

25. Go to a Garrett Popcorn shop before you leave. Get tubs of the cheddar-and-caramel. Bring me some.
