Award-Winning Suez Canal Cruises
Built in 1869, the Suez Canal was an engineering feat that shaved 4,300 miles off the route for sailors traveling between Asia and Europe. Before the canal was built, they had to sail around the entire continent of Africa. On a Suez Canal cruise, you’ll see firsthand the incredible waterway that connects the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea via Egypt.
You don’t have to fly into Egypt in order to witness this man-made marvel. Instead, sail through the Suez Canal on a cruise that visits Greece and the Middle East. As you cruise, you’ll enjoy views of the Sinai Peninsula and the Nile Delta from a unique vantage point.
Please Note: While we don't currently sail to Suez Canal, you can still discover the beauty of the region on one of our cruises to Asia . Browse our cruises to Asia below.

Here are some of the things to most look forward to during your cruise to the Suez Canal.
Suez Canal Scenery
One of the best parts of a Suez Canal cruise is the scenery you can see while sailing along the sea-level waterway. To the west of the Suez Canal is the Nile Delta, awash in foliage, while to the east you’ll see the arid landscape of the Sinai Peninsula.
Three Continents in One Cruise
On one of our cruises that sails from Greece to Dubai through the Suez Canal, you’ll cruise through three continents: Dubai in Asia; the Suez Canal in Africa; and Greece in Europe.

Popular Shore Excursions in the Suez Canal
On a Suez Canal cruise, your day sailing through the canal is the adventure. Step out onto the cruise ship deck or your own private veranda to watch the scenery of Egypt pass you by. The ship doesn’t stop during your time in the Suez Canal, but you can opt for shore excursions at the ports before or after your journey.

Helpful Tips Before You Go
You’ll cruise to the Suez Canal on an itinerary that includes Dubai, Greece, and the Suez Canal, or the Arabian Sea and the Suez Canal, in either April or November. Choose a cruise that departs from Dubai and sails to Rome (via the port of Civitavecchia) or Athens (via the port of Piraeus), or an itinerary that travels the reverse route.
When deciding what to pack for a cruise to the Suez Canal, keep in mind you’ll be visiting both desert and Mediterranean climate zones during your trip. Pack clothing in fabrics that will breathe easily in both humid and dry heat. You’ll also want to bring light and airy layers that keep your arms and legs covered, since you’ll be traveling through countries where modesty is expected when it comes to clothing. Still, don’t forget your bathing suit, since your time in Greece and Italy may include some blissful beaches.
When deciding on cruise ship accommodations, consider upgrading to a sunset veranda stateroom on the aft of the ship. This will give you the opportunity to look at the scenery on both sides of the ship from the comfort of your own private balcony as you sail through the Suez Canal. Plus, you’ll enjoy some excellent sunset views when leaving other ports of call.

United Arab Emirates Port Stops
Booking a cruise from Dubai might include at least one more stop in the United Arab Emirates, such as at Abu Dhabi or Fujairah. If your travel schedule allows, spend a few days before your cruise exploring Dubai. Here, you can be on top of the world by visiting Burj Khalifa, the tallest building on the planet, shop countless souks, go inside the beautiful Jumeirah Mosque, and more.
In Abu Dhabi, you can leisurely explore more souks or get your heart racing with a ride on the world's fastest rollercoaster. In Fujairah , you'll find unspoiled beaches along the Gulf of Oman and plenty of history. If you haven't gotten your fill of the souks yet, you'll find plenty of shopping in Fujairah too.
Cruise to Oman, Jordan, and Israel
Salalah is an old city located in Oman on the Arabian Sea. You'll find beaches with natural blowholes and caves, plus plenty of interesting museums to visit. Don't miss the Sultan Qaboos Mosque, where you can view one of the largest single-piece weave rugs in the world.
Africa cruises that include a stop in Jordan will visit Aqaba , once a key Roman port along the Red Sea. Go diving to see beautiful coral reefs or explore Petra, named one of the World's Seven Wonders. In Aqaba, you can visit an archeological museum, explore a 13th-century fortress, and more.
Dubai cruises stop in Ashdod and Haifa, Israel. Ashdod dates back to the 17th century B.C., which may be hard to picture since it looks so modern today. Here you'll find no shortage of museums, historic sites, and outdoor activities. If you are interested in seeing holy sites, they aren't far from Haifa . You can also visit the Terraces of the Bahá'í, the world's largest hanging gardens.
African Ports on a Dubai Cruise
An abundance of epic adventures awaits you in Africa . Stops on a cruise from Dubai might include:
Safaga is one of the main ports on an Egypt cruise. This area sits along the Red Sea, offering plenty of water-related activities, including windsurfing and kite surfing. Diving is one of the top pastimes here, especially with plenty of nearby reefs and wrecks. You can also book an excursion to world-famous sites such as the Karnak Temple, Luxor, and the Colossi of Memnon.
Port Victoria and La Digue are the two main ports on a cruise to Seychelles. Port Victoria is the capital of Seychelles, and it's famous for exporting coconut oil and vanilla. Visit the brightly colored Hindu Temple or Navasakthi Temple or relax on the beach at Beau Vallon. La Digue is one of the most inhabited islands, but it feels untouched since much of the island is still undeveloped. Here is where you will find the famous granite rocks you see in postcard-perfect photos of Seychelles.
Your cruise will stop in Nosy Be , which is Madagascar's largest and most well-known destination. If you've dreamed of hanging out with lemurs, plan to visit Lokobe Reserve. You can also relax on the beaches around Befotaka Bay or explore Mont Lokobe, the highest peak on the island.
Port Louis is the capital of Mauritius and your port of call on a cruise from Dubai. Many ships have passed through this area, as it was an important port city when sailing around the Cape of Good Hope. When you're in Port Louis, visit sites like Les Jardins De La Compagnie, the Champs de Mars Racecourse, and the Blue Penny Museum.
Located in the Indian Ocean, the island of Reunion is filled with gorgeous natural landscapes, including an active volcano. Intrepid travelers can climb Piton de la Fournaise, which rises 8,635 feet above sea level, or go hiking in Bélouve Forest. If you're keen to relax, check out L'Hermitage Beach.
South Africa
You'll explore at least three destinations on a South Africa cruise, some of which are overnight stops. In Richards Bay , walk through the famous Umlalazi Nature Reserve to search for the palm-nut vulture, one of the rarest birds of prey, or put your feet up and relax on the stunning Aklantstrand Beach.
In Port Elizabeth , you can visit nature reserves such as Kragga Kamma Game Park and beautiful beaches like King's Beach. Some cruises stop in Mossel Bay, which is located along the Southern Cape, home to the Point of Human Origins archeological site. Most cruises from Dubai end in Cape Town . If you have extra time to spend a few days here, you can explore famous sites such as Table Mountain or Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was once imprisoned.

Fowey beats Dubai to cruise ship destination award
F owey has been named Destination of the Year for visiting cruise liners, beating off competition from Dubai and Tourism Kingston, in Canada, harbour bosses in Cornwall say.
A spokesperson for Fowey Harbour, announcing the win at the Seatrade Cruise Awards 2024 on Facebook , said staff were "absolutely thrilled" at the honour.
They added: "Fowey’s community-centered approach has been recognised by the judges and the amazing selection of excursion destinations that our small port can offer."
An award was presented to port cruise manager Kate O'Hara on Wednesday night in Malaga.
The spokesperson continued: "This award celebrates how we have worked together as local businesses and a community to enhance the cruise passenger experience and promote all that Fowey and the surrounding area has to offer.
"Thank you to everyone who has been involved in the project and although the cruise season has drawn to a close for 2024, this award will really put Fowey on the map for future cruise calls."

Dubai is home to world’s tallest skyscraper. Now it’s building the second-tallest, too

Dubai’s super-sized skyline is already home to the world’s tallest skyscraper. Now, it is set to welcome the world’s second tallest, too.
The Burj Azizi broke ground in January this year, but its exact height was not disclosed at the time as its developer awaited approval from Dubai authorities, including the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), which is involved in planning for “supertall” buildings.
On Wednesday, however, real estate firm Azizi Developments announced that its skyscraper will tower over neighboring landmarks — all but one, that is — at a staggering 725 meters (2,379 feet) tall.
“From the outset, we had plans for two designs — one for the initially approved height of 526 meters, and the other for the taller, now-approved 725 meters,” Mirwais Azizi, the founder and chairman of Azizi Developments, told CNN in a written statement.
The developer kept its “options open for both scenarios” when it began preparatory works earlier this year. But with the green light given for the building’s more ambitious proposal, additional work to the foundations and piling is “well underway,” Azizi added.
The 131-story skyscraper will feature apartments, an all-suite “seven-star” luxury hotel and a seven-floor “vertical” shopping mall.
Tizian H. G. Raab/Azizi Developments
Located on Sheikh Zayed Road, in Dubai’s World Trade Center district, Burj Azizi will still stand almost 340 feet shorter than the 2,717-foot-tall Burj Khalifa , less than two miles away. But it will handily beat local competition for the city’s second-tallest title, exceeding the current holder, Marina 101 (1,394 feet).
Once topped out, it will also exceed the world’s current second-tallest building, Malaysia’s 2,227-foot-tall Merdeka 118 .
The tower is anticipated to set several records, including the world’s highest hotel lobby (on level 11), the world’s highest nightclub (on level 126) and the world’s highest observation deck (on level 130), according to Azizi Developments. The developer also said the building will clinch the record for Dubai’s highest restaurant (meaning its 122nd-floor venue will be higher than the Burj Khalifa’s 122nd-floor restaurant, At.mosphere ) and the city’s highest hotel room, on the tower’s 118th floor.
In a press release , Azizi said investment in the project has surpassed 6 billion dirham ($1.6 billion).
“My vision for Burj Azizi is to create a lasting legacy, a tribute to Dubai as a destination of choice for both residents and visitors and a monumental achievement in engineering,” said Azizi in the release.
Dubai currently has more towers measuring over 300 meters (984 feet) than any other city worldwide, according to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
The city is no stranger to superlative structures . It boasts the world’s highest infinity pool , the world’s largest natural flower garden , and the world’s largest picture frame , to name a few.
There are many more under construction, too: The Franck Muller Aeternitas Tower hopes to claim the title of the world’s tallest residential clock tower when it opens in 2027, and Ciel Dubai Marina , scheduled for completion later this year, is expected to become the world’s tallest hotel. The Burj Binghatti Jacob & Co Residences, meanwhile, is set to become the world’s tallest residential structure (and Dubai’s third-tallest building) at 1,952 feet.
Burj Azizi is slated for completion in 2028, with apartments expected to go on sale in February 2025.
