Fall Out Boy first teased tour dates ahead of the album, which arrived March 24, with cryptic “They Will Come” messages plastered on venue marquees throughout Chicago, Metro, and Wrigley Field, with nods to the 1989 film Field of Dreams.

Really great gig. The O2 was overpriced as always and badly organised.

We missed the very first support band but against the current were pretty energetic and fun.

Fall Out Boy, burst onto the stage with a lot of energy and pyrotechnics.

I did however feel a little disengaged with them, but I think that is just what you get from stadium shows.

The crowd was unusual to me as there wasnt a whole lot of "rock" fans so not the normal hustle and bustle, moshing or jumping. Just a lot of people standing about and singing. It was disappointing to learn that Pete sings a lot less in person than I though he did. But generally a good gig, personally however I am glad that the ticket was a gift because if I had paid full price for that level of energy I would have been a bit annoyed.

It was the end of the tour so I understand that its tiring af, so not truly upset.

Really weird that for "champion" a song I had not yet heard that they had an entire montage about princess Dianna. Wrong generation there buddy. And to show "driving" and crash footage just seemed a little messed up. I dont know. And to follow that with a song with the words crash in it, again, seemed weird.

Overall, interesting show, I would see them again but perhaps only at a festival. Little lacking in energy but hey, they still came all this way to play.

When I heard that Fall Out Boy was going on tour, I knew I had to go see them no matter what! I absolutely love FOB, and have been dying to see them live!!!! <3

Getting tickets was such a suspense because they sold so fast, but I managed to nab one of the last GA Floor tickets which I was super stoked about. Then the question was how I was going to get to Hollywood FL all the way from the Tampa area since I don't have a car. (Merely a minor technicality lol ;) )

Ended up driving down with a friend so that was great. Met some awesome people while waiting in line to go in

Then the concert itself. Well it goes without saying that FOB were absolutely incredible!!! The show was amazing and Patrick, Pete, Joe and Andy are such talented and awesome people!!!! I was up on the barricade on Pete's side, and he was literally right there in front of me!!!!! Still can't believe that I was actually there and actually saw them! When they were coming out on stage, there was a picture of a mountain and then from the ceiling bubble bits of foam came floating down over the whole arena.FOB made it snow in Florida!!!! It was magical, the magic of FOB. All the lights and special effects were so good! Then for the cherry on top of the whole experience, I managed to get a guitar pick (after some shameless begging hahahaha). :D

Yep, great concert, great band, can't wait for the next time!!!

FALL OUT BOY Announces Summer 2023 U.S. Tour With BRING ME THE HORIZON

Grammy Award -nominated and multi-platinum selling rock band FALL OUT BOY is set to hit the road this summer with their 2023 headline tour "So Much For (Tour) Dust" . The 25-plus-date North American trek will kick off with a show of epic proportions at Chicago's famed Wrigley Field on June 21 before continuing through cities like St. Louis, Dallas, Phoenix, Atlanta, Toronto, and concluding in Camden, New Jersey on August 6.

In addition to Wrigley Field, "So Much For (Tour) Dust" includes three more stadium stops: BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, Forest Hills Stadium in New York and Fenway Park in Boston. Complete routing is available below.

FALL OUT BOY will be joined by BRING ME THE HORIZON on most dates, as well as ALKALINE TRIO , NEW FOUND GLORY , FOUR YEARS STRONG , THE ACADEMY IS… , ROYAL & THE SERPENT , GAMES WE PLAY , DAISY GRENADE and CARR on select shows throughout the tour's run.

Ticket presales for "So Much For (Tour) Dust" go on sale Thursday, February 2 beginning 10 a.m. local time. General tickets will be available for purchase beginning Friday, February 3 at 10 a.m. local time.

"So Much For (Tour) Dust" , presented by Live Nation , is in support of FALL OUT BOY 's forthcoming new album "So Much (For) Stardust" , which arrives March 24, 2023 on Fueled By Ramen / Elektra / DCD2 Records . The record was produced by Neal Avron .

Last Wednesday, FALL OUT BOY returned to their roots for a surprise homecoming show at Chicago's legendary 1,000-capacity Metro — announced only two days prior, the show immediately sold out. Just down the street from Wrigley Field, the band first played the venue in September 2002, a pivotal gig that FALL OUT BOY 's Patrick Stump jokingly called back to for the packed crowd two decades later: "Twenty years ago, I told my mom I was going to take a semester off [college] because we were headlining Metro and I wanted to see how that would work out." FALL OUT BOY 's Pete Wentz expressed the band's enduring relationship with the venue: "Walking up those stairs is the closest thing this band will have to church."

Variety hailed the night as a "triumphant hometown show," noting that "there are concerts, and there are events, and a hometown show in Chicago from [ FALL OUT BOY ] is definitely in the latter category." Over the course of the night, the band ripped through a mix of their biggest hits and deepest cuts, with Illinois Entertainer praising the set as "taking full advantage of both the intimate venue and the loyal hometown crowd to deliver a once-in-a-decade event."

The show also featured the live public debut of both "Love From The Other Side" and "Heartbreak Feels So Good" , two tracks from the new album and the latter of which was released the morning of the show. The Chicago Sun-Times lauded the two tracks, noting the new material "takes all they've learned and accomplished the past 20 years and combines it with their unflinching roots for an ultimate glow-up."

Prior to the show, the city was enveloped with teasing signage across city buildings and stations along the "L." Foreshadowing the impending tour announcement, the marquees at Metro and Wrigley both featured curiously complimentary nods to the 1989 film "Field Of Dreams" .

FALL OUT BOY first hit the stage in 2023 with a dynamic set at iHeartRadio ALTer EGO in Los Angeles, California on January 14, just days after officially revealing the release date for "Love From The Other Side" .

FALL OUT BOY most recently co-headlined "The Hella Mega Tour" in July 2021 alongside GREEN DAY and WEEZER , playing live in front of over one million fans on a sold-out global stadium tour. The U.S. leg included numerous sold-out stadium gigs — including renowned venues like Wrigley Field, Boston's Fenway Park and Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium. Critical and fan acclaim poured in, with USA Today hailing it "the most stacked line-up of any rock tour in 2021," Billboard noting that each night was "serving up a buffet of hits in front of one of the largest concert crowds," and Rolling Stone calling it "wildly entertaining." The tour was nominated for both "Major Tour Of The Year" and "Best Rock Tour" at the Pollstar Awards in 2021. The international leg of the tour took place throughout the summer of 2022.

"So Much (For) Stardust" is FALL OUT BOY 's eighth studio album and first since 2018's "Mania" , which garnered a Grammy nomination for "Best Rock Album" and marked their third consecutive and fourth overall No. 1 album.

Fall Out Boy Announces Massive Summer Tour — Band's First Since Joe Trohman's Temporary Exit

The Grammy-nominated rock band is hitting the road in support of the upcoming album So Much (For) Stardust

Get ready to dance, dance — Fall Out Boy is embarking on a massive summer tour!

On Tuesday, the Grammy-nominated band announced a lengthy run of North American concerts titled So Much For (Tour) Dust, and they'll be joined on the road by fellow rockers Bring Me the Horizon, Royal & the Serpent, The Academy Is... and more.

"WAKE UP, we're going on tour," wrote the band on Instagram alongside an announcement video featuring bassist Pete Wentz getting woken up from a dream by lead singer Patrick Stump .

Kicking off with a stadium show at Wrigley Field in Chicago on June 21, the tour will make stops in cities including Dallas, Los Angeles, New York and Boston before wrapping on Aug. 6 at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey.

Presale tickets become available for select fans on Thursday at 10 a.m. local time before the general sale opens on Friday at 10 a.m. local time. Information regarding tickets is available on the band's website .

The tour is going down in support of Fall Out Boy's upcoming album So Much (For) Stardust , which is set for a March 24 release, and marks the band's first string of concerts since 2021's Hella Mega Tour with Green Day and Weezer.

Joining the band for the run is Bring Me the Horizon on most dates, with Alkaline Trio, New Found Glory, Four Years Strong, The Academy Is…, Royal & the Serpent , Games We Play, Daisy Grenade and Carr each performing at select shows.

Additionally, So Much For (Tour) Dust will be Fall Out Boy's first tour since its co-founder and longtime guitarist Joe Trohman told fans he would be taking a break from the group earlier this month.

"Neil Young once howled that it's better to burn out than to fade away," Trohman began in a statement shared on the group's official Twitter page hours before the announcement of So Much (For) Stardust . "But I can tell you unequivocally that burning out is dreadful."

He added, "Without divulging all the details, I must disclose that my mental health has rapidly deteriorated over the past several years. So, to avoid fading away and never returning, I will be taking a break from work which regrettably includes stepping away from Fall Out Boy for a spell."

Referencing So Much (For) Stardust , Trohman said in the statement, "It pains me to make this decision, especially when we are releasing a new album that fills me with great pride (the sin I'm most proud of)."

He then reassured fans that his departure is temporary and that he will be back.

"So, the question remains: Will I return to the fold? Absolutely, one-hundred percent. In the meantime, I must recover which means putting myself and my mental health first. Thank you to everyone including my bandmates and family, for understanding and respecting this difficult, but necessary, decision."

Prior to the show, the city was enveloped with teasing signage across city buildings and stations along the ‘L.” Foreshadowing the impending tour announcement, the marquees at Metro and Wrigley both featured curiously complimentary nods to the 1989 film Field of Dreams .

Fall Out Boy first hit the stage in 2023 with a dynamic set at iHeartRadio ALTer EGO in Los Angeles, CA on January 14, just days after officially revealing the release date for “Love From The Other Side.”

Fall Out Boy most recently co-headlined THE HELLA MEGA TOUR in July 2021 alongside Green Day & Weezer, playing live in front of over 1 million fans on a sold-out global stadium tour. The U.S. leg included numerous sold-out stadium gigs – including renowned venues like Wrigley Field, Boston’s Fenway Park and Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium. Critical and fan acclaim poured in, with USA Today hailing it “the most stacked line-up of any rock tour in 2021,” Billboard noting that each night was “serving up a buffet of hits in front of one of the largest concert crowds,” and Rolling Stone calling it “wildly entertaining.” The tour was nominated for both Major Tour of the Year and Best Rock Tour at the Pollstar Awards in 2021. The international leg of the tour took place throughout the summer of 2022.

So Much (For) Stardust is Fall Out Boy’s eighth studio album and first since 2018’s M A  N  I  A, which garnered a GRAMMY nomination for Best Rock Album and marked their third consecutive and fourth overall #1 album.

LIVE REVIEW: Fall Out Boy So Much For (2our) Dust Tour 2024

On march 22nd, 2024 at madison square garden in new york city.

GRAMMY Award-nominated and multi-platinum selling rock band Fall Out Boy is wrapping up So Much For (2our) Dust Tour with Jimmy Eat World on all dates as special guests and The Maine, Hot Mulligan, Daisy Grenade, Games We Play and CARR joining the tour on select shows throughout the run. On March 22nd tour made a stop at New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden.

HOT MULLIGAN a  four piece band from Lansing Michigan took the arena by storm opening for FALL OUT BOY on their “SO MUCH (2TOUR) DUST” tour on March 22nd. Their sound giving a perfect early 2000s rock vibe fitting perfectly with the other bands of the lineup. On vocals you have Nathan Sanville, blending his clean and fried vocals perfectly. On rhythm guitar there’s Chris Freeman who also co leads on vocals blending perfectly with Nathan. Leading on guitar through amazing, crisp solos and riffs there’s Ryan Malisci, who electrified the crowd with his talent with the others. On bass further bringing the band together to their amazing sound you have Jonah Kramer. And last but not least you have drums, played by the one and only Brandon Blakeley finishing off the Hot Mulligan sound.

As a first time listener of Hot Mulligan at this performance, I was impressed by them, their sound and overall performance. Hearing them and seeing their talent I can definitely see why Fall Out Boy chose them to open for them on this tour and at this show.

JIMMY EAT WORLD coming from Mesa Arizona as direct support for FALL OUT BOY, was an interesting new listen for me. I grew up listening to their hit “The Middle” but never truly ventured into listening to them further, but seeing them live has changed that for me. Their songs are upbeat and fully encapsulating the early early 90s to 2000s rock scene. Their career started before I was born and they were introduced to me by family members that liked them. I really enjoyed their set and sound and how they can capture the crowds attention and keep it and how humble and thankful they were to have the opportunity to open for Fall Out Boy at Madison Square Garden.

FALL OUT BOY a male four  piece band that headlined their own “SO MUCH FOR (2TOUR) DUST”  tour on Friday March 22nd at Madison Square Garden was a perfect show, something that doesn’t happen with artists often. Their setlist was a perfect blend of old songs and new ones. Their setlist was a great example of all of their best work from their 20+ year discography. Fall out boy are based out of Wilmette Illinois and is lead by Patrick Stump with his amazing vocals and lyrics, guitar and often piano playing. Playing the guitar with iconic riffs and backup vocals you have Joe Truman. Playing the bass, accompanied with vocal fries and screams, and beautiful speeches at times you have Pete Wentz. Last but not least playing the drums, bringing fall out boy to their iconic sound you have Andy Hurley.

During the performance they had guests William Beckett, and Daisy Grenade come out which was a great surprise as well. Their stage production was the best I’ve seen from them, having seen them twice before. They had a giant dog head like the dogs from the So Much For Stardust album cover moving on stage, accompanied with its glowing eyes, that members like Pete and Patrick interacted with at times. Pete even going as far as putting his head in its mouth as he sang parts of songs.

I discovered Fall Out Boy as a kid and grew up listening to them. Fall Out Boy on their American Beauty/American Psycho tour was my first concert. so going from that to this, with a production, team and a dream setlist like the one they played was amazing, as a long time listener and fan of theirs.

About Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy have cemented their position as one of rock music’s biggest-selling bands. Their eighth studio album So Much (For) Stardust debuted as the No. 1 Rock Album upon its March 24, 2023 release on Fueled By Ramen/Elektra/DCD2 Records. The album marks the band’s first new album in more than five years, and its first single “Love From The Other Side” immediately became a global hit, hitting No. 1 at Alternative Radio in February – an achievement that marked the band’s first career alternative No. 1 song. Fall Out Boy hit the road with their headline tour So Much For (Tour) Dust, kicking off the 25+ date North American summer trek with a show of epic proportions at Chicago’s famed Wrigley Field in June 2023; the tour continued across stadiums and arenas across the UK and Europe in October and November. Due to overwhelming demand, the tour is now continuing across the United States with the 20+ date So Much For (2our) Dust through April 2024. In July 2021, Fall Out Boy embarked on THE HELLA MEGA TOUR alongside Green Day & Weezer, playing live in front of over 1 million fans on a sold-out global stadium tour and marking the first time the three bands had headed out on the road together. The U.S. leg included numerous sold out stadium gigs – including renowned venues like Wrigley Field, Fenway Park and Dodger Stadium. Fall Out Boy’s seventh studio album M A N I A debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 in January 2018 and garnered a GRAMMY nomination for Best Rock Album. The record marked the band’s third consecutive and fourth overall #1 album respectively and featured the global smash “The Last of the Real Ones. In 2015, Fall Out Boy released their platinum, sixth studio album American Beauty/American Psycho, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and peaked at #1 on iTunes in more than 22 countries upon its January 2015 release. The album’s first two singles “Centuries” and “Uma Thurman” have been RIAA-certified 4x and 2x platinum, respectively. American Beauty/American Psycho followed the GRAMMY-nominated band’s gold-certified album Save Rock And Roll, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on iTunes in 27 countries upon its April 2012 release and features the multiplatinum hit “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)” and hit “Alone Together.” Save Rock And Roll was the band’s second #1 debut; Platinum selling “Infinity On High” topped the chart in 2007 which followed multi-platinum breakthrough album “From Under The Cork Tree” released in 2005. Fall Out Boy was most recently nominated for two 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, for Best Alternative (“Hold Me Like A Grudge”) and Best Visual Effects (“Love From The Other Side”). They were previously nominated for a 2019 MTV Video Music Award for Best Rock Video (“Bishops Knife Trick”) and have won Favorite Artist: Alternative Rock at the 2015 American Music Awards, Best Rock Video at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards and Best Alternative Band at the 2014 People’s Choice Awards. Fall Out Boy has also written the song “Immortals,” featured in the Oscar®-nominated Disney hit movie Big Hero 6, which topped the box office upon its November 2014 release and has already surpassed $222 million at the domestic U.S. box office and $650 million globally. Hailing from Chicago, Fall Out Boy—Patrick Stump (vocals/guitar), Pete Wentz (bass), Joe Trohman (guitar) and Andy Hurley (drums)—have appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone and other prestigious publications. Fall Out Boy will bring its tour to Milwaukee's Fiserv Forum in 2024

fall out boy on tour

Fall Out Boy is coming back to Milwaukee as part of an extension of its ongoing worldwide tour.

The veteran rock act, which was last in Milwaukee to kick off Summerfest's 2021 fall edition with Green Day and Weezer, announced Thursday that will bring its So Much For (2our) Dust tour to Fiserv Forum April 2 at 6:30 p.m.

Jimmy Eat World, Hot Mulligan and CARR also are on the bill.

Ticket presales begin at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 13. General tickets will be available at 10 a.m. Sept. 15. Information on ticket prices wasn't immediately available.

Although Fall Out Boy used to be Milwaukee regulars — Pete Wentz and the band kicked off their 2013 reunion tour at the Rave — their 2021 Summerfest gig was the band's first local stop in seven years. Fall Out Boy's drummer, Andrew Hurley, is a Menomonee Falls native.

One of the novelties of the So Much For (2our) Dust tour is the use of a Magic 8 Ball to pick a Fall Out Boy song for that stop's show that the band has never been played live before. The tour is in support of Fall Out Boy's eighth studio album, "So Much (For) Stardust," which came out in March 2023.

Concert review: Despite illness, Fall Out Boy delivers at sold-out Columbus concert

fall out boy on tour

Tickets to a Fall Out Boy concert should come with a warning: not for the faint of heart.

From the opening notes of "Love From the Other Side" to the last guitar riffs in the traditional concert-ender "Saturday," the quartet rocked the stage at the Schottenstein Center Friday night in a feast for the eyes and the ears.

Bassist and primary lyricist Pete Wentz shot flames out of his bass during the choruses of "The Phoenix," the band's second number, as fireworks and flames erupted from the stage. As the band played "Uma Thurman" at the close of its high-energy opening four songs, a man in a rabbit costume danced around while a large snail and cactus were also onstage.

Concerts, film, comedy, more: Make plans this weekend with these 10 cool things to do in Columbus

During "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race," a large dog head was featured onstage, even singing along to the chorus, followed later on in the show by a large owl that Wentz magically appeared in after disappearing from the top of the piano onstage. Wentz then made his way — again through the art of visual illusion (or maybe a well-suited body double) — to the middle of the arena for "So Much (for) Stardust" before walking back among the crowd to the stage.

The nearly two hours of vocal acrobatics from lead singer Patrick Stump were even more impressive Friday night as Stump told the sold-out crowd he felt "really, really sick" and was having trouble hitting the big notes. Any signs of illness wouldn't have been detectable had Stump not mentioned it, although his voice did show signs of strain during his set on the piano.

The piano set featured a partial cover of Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now," a well-received treat for fans.

Concert review: Olivia Rodrigo rocks her sold-out concert Friday night in Nationwide Arena

Signs of illness also likely led to the band's decision to play straight into its encore of "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark," "Thnks fr th Mmrs," "Centuries" and "Saturday" instead of going off stage and coming back.

(Wentz had also noted during the show that some Mexican food he had eaten did not seem to be agreeing with his stomach.)

Fall Out Boy, who have been touring for more than 20 years, played a show that catered to all. Fans ranged in age from young children wearing headphones at their first concert to those who appeared old enough to be grandparents.

And although the concert featured songs that even a casual fan could sing along too, the band paid tribute to the fans who have been with them from the start. After lowering a portion of the stage apparatus to give the appearance of a more intimate venue, the band performed "Dead on Arrival," "Grand Theft Autumn/Where is Your Boy" and "Calm Before the Storm" from their 2003 debut album.

Playing the classics: Tim McGraw's Columbus concert a hit for country music star's fans

Fans who have followed the band for their entire journey appreciated the throwback to a time when the band, who weren't quite the mainstream radio mainstays they are 20 years later, played secret shows at small venues announced only a day or two in advance.

Fall Out Boy's success now and the path their career took is similar to the trail CARR, an up-and-comer in the alt-pop scene who opened the show with a short set, is taking. Wentz urged the crowd to buy CARR's merchandise, noting she was trying to do a "bus tour in a van."

Hot Mulligan, a Michigan band who, based off of the audience reaction already has a significant following, then performed a set.

'Not going to get it right every time': Wentz, Fall Out Boy aren't ready to give up pushing boundaries

Those two acts were followed by a nearly hourlong set from Jimmy Eat World, giving fans of the emo and alternative scenes from the early 2000s a step back in time. The band, who Fall Out Boy cites as helping them break onto the scene, closed their set with their most well-known hit "The Middle," getting nearly everyone in the arena, already full in anticipation of the headliners, on their feet.

The entire concert experience Friday night was a love song to those who may not fit into the cookie-cutter molds created by society.

As Fall Out Boy's performance was coming to a close, the band gathered at the front of the stage for a photo with the crowd in the background. The ritual is a part of all their shows, giving the crowd and the four members of the band a lasting memory — and one that was great.

Fall Out Boy bookends tour with deep-cuts and classics galore

Fall+Out+Boy+at+the+Target+Center.+Photo+by+Linnea+Joanen+%E2%80%9927.

Fall Out Boy’s marathon “So Much For (Tour) Dust” tour was marked by the infamous Magic 8-Ball song — for Taylor Swift fans, this may sound similar to the “Eras Tour” surprise song concept, which is typically a long-forgotten deep-cut — that delivered a truly unique experience for each city’s fans. April 6’s Fall Out Boy concert included a whopping six Magic 8-Ball songs and was also the longest concert in Fall Out Boy’s entire two-decade-long history with a setlist of 33 songs. Indeed, the closing show in downtown Minneapolis was impressive in both a historical manner and in the way it rendered within me a greater appreciation for the band — a feat I never thought possible.

My personal connection to the band is inseparable from my opinion of their concert. Though   pit tickets were out of the question for me, my experience, even from the stadium seats, was electric. Much of this came from the thrill of the setlist. Once they played an unreleased demo that even I, a diehard fan, had no knowledge of, I found myself awaiting each song with bated breath. What more could they possibly do to surprise me?

Those who have never experienced rabid music fanhood first-hand may not understand the allure of the deep-cut track. These songs hide between the chart-topping singles of any given album tracklist and thrive off of fans’ desire to distinguish themselves as particularly devoted to the artist in question. “True fans,” of course, are those whose favorite song’s only surviving audio is from a tin-can quality 2004 Nokia recording of the band’s sound-check in a dive bar. The deep-cut feels personal to us; its unpopularity removes any doubt in our minds that we like it for any other reason than its inherent qualities. The same cannot be said about the chart-toppers, like “Centuries” or “Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down.”

I have no shame in admitting that I have been bitten by the deep-cut bug. I recall many nights of my senior year of high school spent with a bag of Hot Cheetos and an Instagram livestream of My Chemical Romance’s comeback tour, as I obsessed over the possibility of my personal favorite hidden gems seeing the light of day. When My Chemical Romance finally played the long-forgotten “Sister to Sleep” — the Nokia phone recording song—in Los Angeles, I felt a deep sense of connection to the band.

It felt like they understood the real fans. It felt like they were playing this specifically for us, perhaps as a tribute to us for sticking it out this long despite the previous decade of teasing a comeback tour. However parasocial this may be, it is the current reality of many of the globe’s most rabid fandoms. The same can be said about Taylor Swift and her fans’ encyclopedic knowledge of her music. In much the same way as My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy, this phenomenon has resulted in fanbases that would gladly devote thousands of dollars to following these artists on tour. Or, at the very least, spending hours on end for months watching every second of their tour on bootleg livestreams in hopes of seeing their favorite artist acknowledge their personal hidden gem songs.

This begs the question: who should artists play concerts for? Does social media’s parasociality, which enables fans to interact directly with their favorite artists and vice versa, require artists to pay closer attention to the demands of their fans? My Chemical Romance’s Mikey Way has been cited as the likely cause for the band’s increased use of obscure tracks in their setlists due to his activity on fan forums such as Reddit’s r/MyChemicalRomance community, however alienating these tracks may be to the casual fans. Does this make fan service any less special? Should more bands do this, especially as ticket prices continue to soar? Furthermore, how many deep cuts should be played at each venue? What if a fan spends thousands on pit tickets in hopes of seeing their favorite song played live, only to be met with one they’ve never heard of from an album they despise? In other words, is it only fair that, after all we’ve given our favorite artists, that they take the time and effort to cater to our every desire — and is this even feasible?

In reviewing the concert itself, I find myself biased by the inclusion of my personal favorite deep-cut tracks. Of course, the concert was great; the sets were vibrant and the strange costumed creatures and impressive animatronics made tracks like “Uma Thurman” feel a little less milquetoast and commercial. Patrick Stump, as always, provided an outstanding vocal performance — seriously, how does he do it? Every other emo lead vocalist has blown their vocal cords out over the years! The lighting and pyrotechnic design elevated already incredible cuts like “Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On a Bad Bet,” wherein the post-chorus refrain, coupled with a heavenly white lighting cue, delivered a catharsis for die-hard fans who had long dreamed of hearing the little-known fan-favorite live. “Honorable Mention,” the leading 8-Ball gimmick track for the evening, was only added to Spotify in the past two years; it’s the leading track off of the band’s purposefully-obscured “Fall Out Boy’s Evening Out With Your   Girlfriend,” their true debut album. I have no shame in admitting that I cried tears of joy upon hearing the opening riff.

Which, again, brings me to the central issue at hand here: if these moments are so enjoyable for fans, why haven’t artists always catered to their most hardcore fans? Is it the relative rarity of such deep-cuts that makes them worth shedding tears over? What happens when an artist runs out of such rarities — and what makes a rarity worth playing if even the most knowledgeable fans know little about them? This was true of “Legendary 7-9,” a demo played by Fall Out Boy that had previously only existed on Patrick Stump’s now-defunct blog. I think of the opener Jimmy Eat World, whose songs — apart from “The Middle” — were met with little recognition from the audience. The energy of the arena when “The Middle” was played, as well as when Fall Out Boy’s chart-toppers played, was palpable. Still, if Fall Out Boy’s setlist was entirely composed of the songs that every person in the crowd knows so well by heart that they scream every lyric, I would be unsatisfied. There’s something empowering about being the only one in your section yelling the lyrics to your low-profile favorite. Perhaps, then, Fall Out Boy found themselves striking the perfect balance between popular classics and ridiculous deep-cuts in their historic performance at the Target Center. What the Twin Cities did to deserve such a special concert is unknown, but I, for one, am endlessly thankful.

Billie Eilish, Lorde, Fall Out Boy Among Artists Urging Congress Action on Ticketing Issues: 'System Is Broken'

The artists are advocating for ticket sale transparency.

Over 250 artists are imploring the Senate Committee on Commerce to consider a new bill that advocates for ticket sale transparency and safeguards consumers from bots.

Among those artists who have signed a letter in support of the legislation are Billie Eilish , Lorde , Fall Out Boy, Dave Matthews, Cyndi Lauper, Sia, and Green Day. Called the Fans First Act , the bill speaks to the current state of the live event ticketing system. According to the letter, the structure, as it stands, subjects fans and artists to the underhanded side of the secondary ticketing market.

“As artists and members of the music community, we rely on touring for our livelihood, and we value music fans above all else,” the letter reads. “We are joining together to say that the current system is broken: predatory resellers and secondary platforms engage in deceptive ticketing practices to inflate ticket prices and deprive fans of the chance to see their favorite artists at a fair price.”

It adds, “Predatory resellers should not be more profitable than the people dedicating their lives to their art.”

Specifically, some of the bill’s asks include full disclosure of ticket costs at the initial stage, breakdown of ticket costs and terms of purchase, enforcement of the BOTS Act against bot usage, civil penalties on illegal resellers, a ban on speculative tickets, and full refunds for event cancellations.

According to Deadline, the group behind the letter is the Fix the Tix Coalition, a movement led by the National Independent Venue Association and Eventbrite. Both the Fans First Act and the Transparency In Charges for Key Events Ticketing Act or (TICKET Act)—which was passed by the House Energy and Commerce Committee—speak to the live event ticketing system.
