Download WhatsApp Status on iPhone

If you are using WhatsApp on your iPhone and are wondering how to download or save someone’s WhatsApp status photos and videos, fret not. Here are the simple methods.

1. Take a Screenshot

Step 1 : Open WhatsApp and go to the Status tab.

Step 2 : Now, tap on the person’s status that you want to save on your iPhone.

Step 3 : Press the volume up and power buttons on your iPhone simultaneously to take a screenshot of the status.

Note : If you use an older iPhone with a home button, press the home button instead of the volume-up button to take a screenshot.

2. Record Your Entire Screen

You can record your entire screen to save a video from someone’s WhatsApp status. Let’s look at the simple steps using the Control Center on your iPhone.

Step 1 : Launch WhatsApp on your iPhone and go to the Status tab.

Step 2 : Swipe down from the right corner of the screen to access the Control Center.

Note : If you have an older iPhone, swipe up from the bottom.

Step 3 : Tap the Screen Recording button to start recording.

Step 4 : Now, tap to open status in full screen and let it record. Once done, tap the red button to stop recording.

Step 5 : Tap Stop.

3. Link to an Android Device

WhatsApp on iOS doesn’t provide much flexibility while saving WhatsApp status videos and photos. Thankfully, you can link your WhatsApp account to other devices . So, let’s connect your WhatsApp to an Android phone and download the status from there. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1 : Open the newly installed WhatsApp on your Android smartphone. Tap Agree and continue.

Step 2 : Tap the three dots (kebab menu).

Step 3 : Tap ‘Link to existing account’.

Step 4 : A QR code will appear on the screen; now, let’s move on to your iPhone.

Step 5 : Open WhatsApp on your iPhone and go to Settings > Linked Devices.

Step 6 : Tap Link a Device.

Step 8 : Now, scan the QR code on your Android phone with your iPhone scanner to open your WhatsApp on the Android smartphone.

5. Copy-Paste From WhatsApp Media Folder

Unlike iOS, WhatsApp status media on Android are stored temporarily in a user-accessible directory that can be saved without using a third-party app. You can go there and download or save WhatsApp statuses using a file manager to your desired location.

Here are the simple steps:

Step 1 : Launch the Files app on your Android phone and tap on the hamburger menu.

Step 5 : Now, go to Android > media.

Step 6 : Again, go to com.whatsapp > WhatsApp.

Step 8 : Select photos and videos you want to save by tapping and holding them.

Step 9 : Tap the three dots (kebab menu).

Step 10 : Tap Copy to from the drop-down menu.

Step 11 : Tap Internal storage.

Step 12 : Go to your desired folder and tap Copy here to paste the WhatsApp status

And that’s it; now these WhatsApp Status photos and videos will appear on your smartphone in the Gallery or Photos App.

6. Use Status Saver: A Third-Party App

WhatsApp on Android also allows you to download statuses using a third-party app. While several apps are available, we will use Status Saver. Let’s look at the steps:

Step 1 : Download and launch the Status Saver app.

Step 3 : Again tap GRANT PERMISSION.

Step 4 : Tap USE THIS FOLDER.

Step 5 : Tap ALLOW.

Step 8 : Tap Allow. The photo or video will be saved to the Downloads folder on your Android smartphone.

7. Take a Screenshot

Meanwhile, you can take a screenshot to save a photo from someone’s WhatsApp status. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1 : Open WhatsApp and navigate to the Status tab.

Step 2 : Tap on the status that you want to see.

Step 3 : Now, press and hold the power and volume down buttons simultaneously to take a screenshot of the status.

8. Record Your Entire Screen

Another way to save a video from WhatsApp status on Android is to record your screen. Let’s look at the steps below.

Note : Steps to record your screen vary from one Android to another. For demonstration, we’re using a Google Pixel phone.

Step 1 : Launch WhatsApp and go to the Status tab.

Step 2 : Swipe down from the top to access Quick Settings.

Step 3 : Swipe one more time to expand Quick Settings.

9. Save Images Using Drag and Drop

Step 1 : Open WhatsApp web in your choice of browser.

4 Ways to Download WhatsApp Status

WhatsApp doesn’t offer a direct way to share WhatsApp status AKA stories. What if you like someone’s status and want to share it with your friends? For that, you will need to download and save the picture or video from WhatsApp status in your phone’s gallery. Thankfully, you can download WhatsApp status in four ways. Let’s check the methods.

How to Save WhatsApp Status

The other person won’t be notified when you download the WhatsApp Status photo or video using any of the methods. However, if read receipts are enabled, they will know that you have seen the status.

1. Take a Screenshot

One of the easiest ways to save a picture from WhatsApp status is to take a screenshot. And that’s possible without downloading any extra app since both Android and iPhone support the screenshot feature. To take a screenshot, either press the Power and Home button or the Power and Volume down button simultaneously.

2. View WhatsApp Status in File Explorer (Android)

Interestingly, WhatsApp automatically downloads the status pictures and videos that you have viewed in the past 24 hours to your phone’s file explorer. So you don’t need any third-party app. However, the folder where the WhatsApp status’ media files are saved is hidden by default. You will need to make it visible first. Here are the steps in detail to save WhatsApp status to your phone’s gallery on Android phone.

Note: This method only works on Android phones.

1. Open any File Explorer app on your phone. I am using the Files by Google app . It’s a free app with a user-friendly interface and no ads.

2 . In the Files app from Google, tap on the three-bar to open the menu. Select Settings .

3. Enable the toggle next to Show hidden files . If you are using any other File explorer app, look for a similar setting that allows you to view hidden files.

You need to perform the above three steps only once. When you have enabled hidden files, you can directly download WhatsApp status using the following steps.

4. Launch WhatsApp and open the status that you want to download.

5. Open the Files app and navigate to the WhatsApp folder. You will find it under Internal storage > WhatsApp. If the WhatsApp folder is missing in the internal storage, don’t worry. Simply navigate to Internal storage >Android > Media > com.whatsapp > WhatsApp .

6. Tap on the Media folder and go to .Statuses folder. You will notice that the color of the .Statuses folder is slightly different as it’s a hidden folder.

7. Inside the .Statuses folder, you will find the recently viewed status from the past 24 hours. Open any photo or video to view it.

Save WhatsApp Status in Gallery

Do note if you want to keep the status for future use, you will need to move or copy the picture or video out of the .Statuses folder. Otherwise, the files will be deleted after 24 hours automatically from your File Explorer.

To do so, tap the three-dot icon next to the photo or video and select Copy to . Choose a folder outside of the WhatsApp folder and paste it. Similarly, repeat the step for other files that you want to copy. Once copied, the status photos and videos will appear in your Android phone’s gallery as well.

How to Download WhatsApp Status Without Viewing It

If you want to save a WhatsApp status without being seen or viewing the story, the above method will come in handy. Basically, WhatsApp automatically downloads some status to your phone’s File Explorer even if you don’t view them. From what I noticed, WhatsApp usually downloads the status of the people before and after the current status.

So if you want to download the WhatsApp status of someone without letting them know, you should view the status of the people before and after the concerned person. Then open the .statuses folder in the File Explorer. Hopefully, you will see the status of the actual person over there without viewing it.

3. Use Third-Party Status Saver Apps for WhatsApp

If the above method doesn’t work in the future or it feels a bit troublesome, you can take the help of status saver apps to download status on Android. You simply need to view the WhatsApp status and the same would appear in status downloader apps. It’s just a matter of two-three taps. Let’s check the steps in detail.

1 . Install any WhatsApp status downloader app on Android. I use Status saver . It’s a small app and also lets you split long videos and send a WhatsApp message without saving numbers to contacts.

2. Open WhatsApp and view that status that you want to download.

3. Open the Status saver app. You will find the recently viewed status in the app. Tap on the photo or video that you want to download to your phone’s gallery and hit the Download icon. That will download the picture or video to your gallery.

4. Take Screen Recording (Android and iPhone)

Similar to taking a screenshot to download status photos, you can download status videos by recording the screen. Again, you don’t have to download anything. Both Android and iPhone offer a native feature to capture screen recording.

To take a screen recording on iPhone, open Control Center and look for the Screen recording option. It looks like a dot inside a circle. Long touch the Screen recording option and tap on the Microphone icon to enable it. This is done so that audio is also recorded along with your video.

Tip: If you don’t find Screen Recording in Control Center, go to Settings > Control Center and enable Screen recording.

Now open Control Center again and tap on the Screen recording option to start recording. Open WhatsApp status video and view it completely. Your phone will be recording in the background. When done, tap on the red bar at the top of the screen and hit the Stop button. That will stop the recording.

Launch the Apple Photos app and you will find the downloaded video. Open and edit it to trim it in a way so that only the status is visible.

On Android, you will find the screen recorder in Quick settings. Simply tap it to start recording the WhatsApp status. If your Android phone doesn’t offer a native screen recording tool, you can use third-party screen recorder apps .

WhatsApp Status videos allow you to capture your best moments and share candid experiences for a 24-hour period. But what if you want to save those moments forever?

It’s easy to screenshot photos you or others share on the app, but WhatsApp makes it slightly harder to save videos. In this tutorial, I’ll show you a simple way to save anyone’s video . Here's what you'll need to do:

• Open WhatsApp on a computer

• Right-click and save it to your computer

1. using the file manager app.

The first method is to use the File Manager or the Files app that is pre-loaded on most of the Android smartphones. For this, you have to follow a number of steps:

• First, view the WhatsApp Status you want to save to your gallery

• Following this, you have to head to the Files app and select the Settings option

• The Settings tab has the ‘Show hidden files’ option. Enable this option

• Once this is done, you have to select the Internal storage option and then the WhatsApp option. Head to the media option and select the ‘.statuses’ option

• All WhatsApp Status media will be enlisted here. Now, you have to copy and paste the particular WhatsApp photo or video status to another folder and you are good to go.

Please note: As the nature of the WhatsApp Status is perishable, the media in the hidden files folder will also vanish after 24 hours. You have to act quickly if you want to download the media.

2. Using the Status Saver App

The alternative method to save WhatsApp status videos and photos is to use an app. There are several such apps such as the Status Saver — which is one of the popular ones. This will help you easily save the images and photos from WhatsApp status to your device in a few simple steps:

• You just have to download the Status Saver app from the Google Play Store. Please note that this app isn’t available on the App Store
• Once you have downloaded the app, you just have to open it up to view the saved WhatsApp Statuses. Statuses are divided into images and videos for ease of usage.

• Additionally, once you tap on the media, you will find options such as save, delete, and more so that you can decide what you wish to do with the images and photos

3. Just Screenshot It!

Another hack is to take a screenshot of the WhatsApp Status images and edit them accordingly. For videos, you screen-record as well, provided your device supports the option. The option is easily available in the Settings menu so it won’t be difficult to use it.

Sadly, iPhone users have just one option to download WhatsApp Statuses to their devices. That option is screenshots and screen recorder apps .

To save a WhatsApp Status image, you just have to take a screenshot which is really easy to do. Following this, you can edit the image as per your choice.

To download WhatsApp Status videos on iOS, you just have to screen-record the video. To do this, you are required to enable the screen recording feature from the Control Centre, go to WhatsApp, and record the required WhatsApp Status video. Additionally, you can edit the recorded video as per your choice.

If the screen recorder option isn’t in your Control Centre, you have to add it by tapping on the Control Centre option in your settings and then the ‘customize controls’ option.

Putting stories on WhatsApp is becoming popular, just like Instagram and Facebook stories. One recurring issue which WhatsApp users regularly face is the ability to get the video uploaded by their friends and family. You can screenshot an image, but the same can’t be said for WhatsApp video statuses. 

WhatsApp Status videos are usually stored on your smartphone and are automatically deleted after 24 hours. However, there is a way to save these videos to your phone without using a third-party app.

To begin, ensure that your device has a Files Manager app. If that isn't available, you can get one from the Play Store. Make certain it comes from a reliable source. 'Files by Google' is a Google app that will also function in this situation.

1. Download Google Files from the Play Store 2. On the far right of the screen, you will find the menu, click on it. 3. Go to settings and give permission to ‘Show Hidden Files’. 4. Click on the media you want to save. 7. After you click on it, long pressing will give you several choices on the location to save the media, like Camera, WhatsApp Images and Downloads. 

The use of an alternative third-party application to download WhatsApp statuses like Status Server can come in handy. 

1. Download Status Server from the PlayStore. 2. You can see all the statuses you have seen on the app. 3. Click on the media that you want to save and click the Save button. 4. The saved image/video will be found in the internal storage of the device.  5. All stored statuses will be available from the app. If you need to get to the folder quickly, open your File Manager app and navigate to Internal storage > Status Saver.

These steps may differ depending on the Android device. In most cases, the WhatsApp media folder will show up simply by opening the File manager.

Ever wondered where these photos and videos save temporarily? These media files are cached in the WhatsApp folder on your smartphone. However, just like the 24-hour policy in the app, these media files also get vanished after the 24-hour period. Here’s how you can access those files.

• Open WhatsApp and view the WhatsApp Status you want to download once
• Now, open a File Manager app. If your phone lacks one, you can download the “Files by Google” from the Google Play Store
• Enable the “Show hidden files” option that can be found in the Settings page of your File manager app
• Head over to your phone’s internal storage and look for a folder named “WhatsApp”
• Here, just go to Media > .Statuses

In this folder, you can find all the status videos and photos that you viewed in the past 24 hours. Now, just copy the image or video you want and paste it on any other folder in the internal storage.

Method 2: Status Saver apps

On the Google Play Store, there are plenty of applications labelled Status Saver or Status Saver for WhatsApp. These applications can be downloaded and used to save any WhatsApp videos or photos. However, the downside to such applications is that they come with a ton of advertisements, which can be annoying at one point.

Method 3: Screenshot and Screen Record

While any images seen on the WhatsApp statues can be easily captured by taking a screenshot, the struggle is all about the videos. However, a lot of Android smartphones including Xiaomi devices now come with native screen recorders. So, you can use them to record your screen and trim the video in such a way that only the status is shown. Also, if your smartphone does not come with a native screen recorder, you can always hit the Play Store for such apps.
