Caution… There more expensive then any other vet I’ve been to. My cat needed surgery they est $3000… My regular vet did for $600

' src=

Thanks for the heads up Nena. Wasn’t aware until now that Petco does this. It’s possible the costs are so high because of all the advertising and marketing they must do.

It’s always good to shop around especially when your fur baby needs surgery. For example, our vet wanted to charge $400+ to neuter our dog. The local spay/neuter organization only charges $55. HUGE difference!

' src=

They’re, not there, dumdum.

' src=

Is there a way to read the fine print w/o putting in my information? We recently adopted our dog from a rescue and the previous owner had taken the dog to a Banfield, but we have not. I’m wondering if “first time” is pet specific or owner specific.

' src=

It’s owner specific, I adopted a cat from petsmart who also had records from Banfield and got the first one (with me) free—just make sure to remind them when you check in.

' src=

I got a paper in the mail for this. I have a vet but they haven’t been helpful in dealing with my dog’s allergies, so thought about going for a consult. Weary of getting anything additional done though, those rates😬

' src=

Rebecca, I handle tens of thousands of dollars of vet care a year for an animal rescue, for a breed prone to allergies. Save yourself aggravation in the long run by making an appointment with a vet dermatologist — the initial exam will cost more than a regular visit (probably $150), but you’ll zero in very quickly on the source and successful treatment strategies with an expert, instead of spinning your wheels at “generalist” vet practices. You can easily spend $500 to $1000 getting nowhere on treating allergies at general vet practices. They’re hard and complicated to manage. You’ll get more bang for your buck with a board-certified vet derm.

' src=

I’ve heard a number of bad things about Banfield, so you may want to check out reviews of the one in your area before you decide to take your pet there.

' src=

My daughter had a bad experience/outcome with her lab. She took her dog there because she was coughing/dry heaving and left her there to be treated and monitored. Then they called her to come back to take her dog to the emergency clinic. But it was too late. Her dog had a twisted stomach and Banfield couldn’t treat her. I was shocked!!! Outcome was not good…even though it may not have been good anyway.

' src=

I work at Banfield. There is no catch. Just print the coupon and you get a free office visit which includes an exam from the doctor.

Banfield is MARS Petcare — yes, the candy family owns a multi-billion dollar pet empire. They make Royal Canin and Pedigree food too. A lot has been written about the massive profit-centered nature of their vet care model. First, Banfield does not follow the gold-standard, evidence-based vaccination guidelines from the AAHA (which is based on research by a blue-ribbon panel of experts finding core vaxes are only needed every 3 years) — they reportedly pressure clients to do unnecessary annual vaxing instead of only every three-years because it’s profitable. Second, business news articles have reported that they require vet-employees to follow sales scripts to up-sell (especially “wellness packages”) — and base vet employee compensation in part on success doing that. Third, the same journals report that they require cookie-cutter computer-generated treatment protocol scripts with very little flexibility for vets to actually use their brains and practice client-centered veterinary medicine. They’ll reportedly often recommend you do all possible diagnostics ($$$$) for an illness, when an old-fashioned vet might say “let’s start with some inexpensive bloodwork and see where it leads us, before you spend a lot of money for all these specialized tests.” I recommend finding an independent, local vet who has the style of practice you like, develop a client relationship that will last for years, let them get to know you and your specific needs, and you’ll probably be much happier (and likely spend less) over the long-run, instead of chasing after “coupon deals” for vet care. I have my vet’s cell phone number for after hours because we’ve been through so many years of animals together — nobody has a right to expect that, but it’s the sort of thing you may get from a clinic owner who cares deeply about clients he’s known for many years….but not from a chain. I also highly recommend looking for a vet that is “Fear Free Certified” (and who has FF certified vet techs)–it’s an amazing approach that really makes a difference in reducing stress for pets.

' src=

I have the wellness plan with Banfield for my dog and I love it. It covers his vaccines, one dental cleaning with anesthesia, 2 sets of labs and unlimited visits. When I first got him I never had a dog before. It gave me piece of mind I could take him in anytime I had a concern. Yes, not all stuff is covered. This is a wellness plan so if you have a sick pet or one with a chronic illness, this probably isn’t the plan for you. Additional non-covered services are at a discount rate though.

A Friendly Guide to Navigating Banfield Pet Hospital Visits 🐾

Welcome to our cozy corner of the internet, fellow pet enthusiasts! Today, we’re diving deep into the world of veterinary care, specifically the costs associated with Banfield Pet Hospital visits. Whether you’re a seasoned pet parent or a newcomer to the furry family, understanding these costs is crucial for both your peace of mind and your wallet.

🏥 Initial Impressions: The Office Visit Shuffle

Every journey at Banfield begins with the office visit. Whether you’re bringing in your bouncy puppy or your purring feline, the starting line is the same for both:

  • Office Visit: $74.95 for every furry friend, regardless of species.
  • Additional Pet Office Visit: If you’re a multi-pet household, each additional buddy gets a slight break at $58.95.

It’s like the entry ticket to the world of professional pet care – same price, no matter the fluff!

💉 The Vaccination Variety Show

Vaccinations are the invisible shield for our pets, and at Banfield, the costs vary like flavors at an ice cream shop:

  • Dogs: They have a range that goes from $24.47 to $54.13. Think of it as investing in your dog’s superhero cape!
  • Cats: Their range is a bit narrower, from $28.41 to $36.17. It’s like picking the perfect accessory for their nine lives!

Each vaccination is a step towards a healthier life, and the price range allows you to plan for the best care within your budget.

🔍 Anesthetic Adventures: Navigating the Costs

When our pets need procedures under anesthesia, it’s a big step. The costs reflect the complexity and care involved:

  • Dogs: Here, we’re looking at a bracket of $424.95 to $618.95. It’s a significant range, reflecting the tailored care your pooch needs.
  • Cats: For our feline friends, the range is $226.95 to $383.95. It’s a bit lighter, mirroring their smaller size but not the importance of the procedure.

These procedures are crucial, and understanding the cost range helps in making informed decisions for our pets’ health.

🌈 The Final Farewell: End-of-Life Services

A sensitive and essential part of pet care is saying goodbye. Banfield handles these moments with grace and uniformity:

  • End-of-Life Services: $144.95 for every heart, be it covered in fur or whiskers.

It’s a flat rate for a service filled with compassion, ensuring your pet’s journey is handled with respect and love.

In Summary: The Banfield Breakdown 📊

Tail wags & purrs: closing thoughts.

Understanding the costs associated with Banfield Pet Hospital visits is vital in planning for your pet’s healthcare journey. It’s about making sure that journey is as smooth and stress-free as possible, for both you and your furry family members. With this guide, we hope to have shed some light on what to expect and how to prepare.

Remember, every pet is a unique individual with specific needs. Don’t hesitate to discuss these needs and any concerns you might have with your veterinarian. After all, when it comes to our pets, we’re all in this together – navigating the ups and downs, celebrating the joys, and providing the best care we can. Here’s to many happy, healthy years ahead with your beloved companions! 🐶😺

Interviewer: “How does Banfield Pet Hospital ensure that pet care remains both high-quality and accessible?”

Veterinarian: “Great question! You see, at the core of Banfield’s philosophy is a blend of compassion and cutting-edge veterinary science. We’re constantly analyzing the landscape of pet healthcare to ensure our services are not just top-notch but also reachable. For instance, our structured pricing model for office visits, vaccinations, and even the more complex anesthetic procedures is designed to demystify costs for pet owners. It’s about transparency, ensuring pet parents can plan without unexpected financial stress. Plus, our Wellness Plans are tailored to provide preventive care, which, in the long run, is a cost-effective strategy for maintaining pet health.”

Interviewer: “Speaking of anesthetic procedures, there’s a noticeable difference in cost between dogs and cats. Can you elaborate on that?”

Veterinarian: “Absolutely, that’s a discerning observation. The distinction in pricing between canine and feline anesthetic procedures reflects the nuanced approach Banfield takes towards each species. Dogs, often larger and with a wide range of breeds, might require more tailored anesthetic protocols, which can influence the cost. Cats, on the other hand, while no less important, typically require less anesthetic agent due to their size and physiology. Moreover, the specific needs of each procedure, from dental cleanings to surgeries, are carefully evaluated to ensure the safety and comfort of our furry patients, which directly impacts the cost.”

Interviewer: “Vaccinations are a critical part of pet care. Could you shed some light on the range in vaccination costs?”

Veterinarian: “Vaccinations are indeed a cornerstone of preventive healthcare. The range you see in vaccination costs is reflective of the type and number of vaccines needed at different stages of a pet’s life. For example, younger animals might need a series of shots to build up immunity, while older pets may require less frequent vaccinations. Additionally, the cost variance accounts for the type of vaccine—core vaccines are essential for all pets, while non-core vaccines are recommended based on lifestyle and risk exposure. This flexible approach allows pet parents to customize their pet’s healthcare based on real-life needs, ensuring both efficacy and economy.”

Interviewer: “End-of-life services are a sensitive topic. How does Banfield approach this critical aspect of pet care?”

Veterinarian: “End-of-life care is approached with the utmost sensitivity and respect at Banfield. We understand that this is a profoundly emotional time for pet parents. Our uniform pricing for these services is part of our commitment to provide compassionate, dignified care during these final moments, without the added worry of cost. Our teams are trained to offer support and guidance, helping families make informed decisions that honor the bond they share with their pet. It’s a responsibility we hold dear, ensuring that the process is as peaceful and comforting as possible for both the pet and their family.”

Interviewer: “In light of evolving pet healthcare, how does Banfield stay ahead, particularly with technological advancements?”

Veterinarian: “In the realm of veterinary medicine, the horizon is always expanding. Banfield invests heavily in both technology and ongoing education for our staff. From digital radiography to advanced surgical techniques, we integrate the latest technologies to enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment effectiveness. Moreover, telehealth services have become a cornerstone, allowing pet parents to consult with veterinarians remotely, ensuring timely advice and peace of mind. This digital leap not only improves access to care but also reinforces our commitment to preventive health, enabling early detection and management of conditions before they escalate.”

Interviewer: “Sustainability is a hot topic across all sectors. How is Banfield addressing this within the veterinary field?”

Veterinarian: “Sustainability is indeed pivotal, and our approach is multifaceted. We’re reducing our carbon pawprint through initiatives like recycling programs in our hospitals, utilizing environmentally friendly products, and digitalizing client records to minimize paper use. Furthermore, we’re exploring more sustainable medical supplies and advocating for responsible pharmaceutical disposal to protect our ecosystems. It’s about caring for our pets in a way that also preserves the world they live in.”

Interviewer: “Many pet parents are concerned about the rising costs of pet care. What advice do you have for them?”

Veterinarian: “It’s a valid concern. We advise pet parents to consider preventive care as the cornerstone of managing health costs over the long term. Regular check-ups, vaccinations, and early detection tests can prevent costly treatments down the line. Additionally, exploring pet insurance or wellness plans, like those offered at Banfield, can provide financial relief by spreading out the costs over time. Education also plays a critical role; understanding your pet’s health needs leads to better decision-making. We’re here to guide you through these options, ensuring that you can make informed choices that fit your budget and your pet’s health requirements.”

Interviewer: “With the rise of pet ownership, how does Banfield manage the increased demand for services?”

Veterinarian: “The surge in pet ownership is indeed a heartwarming trend. To manage this, we’re continuously expanding our network of hospitals and veterinarians to meet the growing demand. We leverage a centralized system for managing appointments efficiently, ensuring that each pet receives timely care. Additionally, we’re harnessing the power of technology to streamline operations, from online booking systems to AI-driven tools that assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Our focus is on maintaining the quality of care while accommodating the increasing need for veterinary services.”

Interviewer: “Finally, what makes Banfield stand out in the crowded veterinary care space?”

Veterinarian: “What truly sets Banfield apart is our holistic approach to pet care. We view pets as integral members of the family and believe in a partnership with pet parents to foster a healthy, happy life for their pets. Our emphasis on preventive care, backed by a nationwide network of hospitals and the latest in veterinary technology, ensures comprehensive support for every pet’s health journey. Moreover, our commitment to education, both for pet parents and our professional team, cultivates a community where pets thrive. At Banfield, it’s not just about treating pets; it’s about nurturing lifelong bonds.”

I have 2 long hair cats with extreme knots. They are both very aggressive when I try to brush them out. I thought about shaving where the knots are. Does Ban field do either one & if so, what would the price be? Thank You

Banfield Pet Hospital offers a variety of services for pets, including those for cats. However, the specific services available, such as grooming or shaving for cats with knots, can vary by location. It’s important to note that not all Banfield locations may offer extensive grooming services, especially for cats that are aggressive or difficult to handle during grooming.

For cats with severe knots and matting, professional grooming is often recommended. This is because attempting to shave or untangle severe knots at home can be risky, both for the cat and the owner. Cats with aggressive tendencies when being brushed can pose a challenge, and professional groomers or veterinarians are better equipped to handle such situations safely.

The cost of grooming services at Banfield, or any other veterinary clinic or grooming facility, can vary widely based on several factors:

Location: Prices for pet services can vary depending on the geographical location of the clinic.

Cat’s Behavior: Cats that are aggressive or difficult to handle may require additional resources or sedation, which can increase the cost.

Severity of the Knots: The extent of matting and the time and effort required to resolve it can affect the price.

Additional Services: If your cat requires other services such as a general check-up, vaccinations, or flea treatment during the grooming session, this will also impact the overall cost.

To get an accurate estimate and to confirm whether Banfield offers the specific services you need for your cats, it’s best to contact your local Banfield Pet Hospital directly. They can provide information on the availability of grooming services for cats with severe knots, the approach they would take with cats that are aggressive during grooming, and a price estimate based on your specific situation.

Remember, regular grooming and brushing can help prevent the formation of severe knots in the future, especially in long-haired cats. Introducing grooming gradually and in a positive manner can also help reduce aggression or discomfort associated with the process.

Ratings and Reviews

I enjoy this app a lot for making an appointment in a pinch. A while ago my parents dog got hurt, nothing deadly (thankfully). But it was dire to me. He got a scratch on his eye. I quickly checked all the local Banfield’s on the app near me and got an appointment for that following afternoon. Using the Banfield app I was able to schedule this appointment and leave notes for the vet techs and vets to see before we arrived. I like how the app abled me to see multiple Banfield’s in my area to see who availability would have to see us soonest. All the staff was super friendly and helpful in treating our pup. And we were easily able to book his follow up appointment, which I was easily able to check on the app. This app is super easy to use and clear I will definitely recommend it to my friends and family who struggle with keeping their pet’s vaccine dates and such scheduled to date.

Developer Response ,

Thank you so much for your feedback. Glad to hear the app is so helpful!

Horrible App Login

This review isn’t about Banfield Pet Hospital or their service, but their app. Every time I try to login, I have to reset my password because for some reason, my passwords aren’t “saved” in their system. First, every time I try to log in with my current password, it would say “wrong password”. Second, the fingerprint or facial recognition for login doesn’t work even though after every time I create a new password, it would ask me if I’d like to use this feature. And yes, I register this feature every single time. But after a week or so, the new password either won’t log me in or the fingerprint/facial recognition feature doesn’t work. When I try resetting my password, it says my email address is not registered any accounts. However, when I search my email address through the Client ID portal, it says my email address is already registered with an account. WHAT IS THIS? Seriously? I’ve never seen such a contradictory flaw in an app. Especially when my pet is sick. I’m paying close to $500 a year for the OWP that offers free online consultations. To seek help from a veterinarian about my pet’s symptoms. Yet, I have to go through so many obstacles to do so. My pet isn’t feeling well right now and I can’t do anything about it. Literally nothing because of this fatal flaw. I’m hugely disappointed. This app needs serious reprogramming. It’s putting a lot of stress of us and putting my pet’s life at risk.

Love Banfield Clinic In Carrolton

We have used Banfield Clinics all over the state of Texas! We have moved a few times, since we have had Bear, the past 4 years. We left the Carrolton area in December of 2018 for North Richland Hills. There are plenty of vets around here including a few Banfield clinics. Our family, especially Bear fell in love with the front staff, the vet techs, Dr Martin & Dr Bell. There was one vet tech in particular who got down on the floor to all Bear to check her out and make him feel comfortable. It didn’t take my big Pit Bull baby long (maybe 45 seconds to a minute to fall in love)! Next thing we knew he was sitting down her lap like and child would. Just confirms my gut feeling that he doesn’t realize he’s a dog. He used to never go in back with the lab tech in Grand Prairie or Mansfield. I would have to walk him back there in that (employee only) get him comfortable and then walk away. The vet tech in Carrolton named Amanda earner his trust and would follow her anywhere. So we still drive from North Richland Hills to Carrolton to get his health care. We move that Carrolton family. Unfortunately, we learned here recently Amanda and her man have moved to Colorado, the only positive is she’s still at Banfield in Colorado. Amanda Bear misses you so much. The Banfield Carrolton team gets an All-Star team in my eyes!
Thanks so much for leaving such a nice note - it really means a lot. So glad to hear you've received such great care over the years!
