Friends Experience interactive tour is coming to six new cities

Relive moments from the series with re-created sets and props.

• Named a Tech Media Trailblazer by the Consumer Technology Association in 2019, a winner of SPJ NorCal's Excellence in Journalism Awards in 2022 and has three times been a finalist in the LA Press Club's National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards.

Fans of the sitcom Friends will now be able to relive the series with new tour locations for The Friends Experience. The experience, which was first launched in New York City, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas to celebrate the show's 25th anniversary , lets visitors re-create moments from the show with props and sets modeled after those in the show, like Monica's kitchen and the iconic Friends fountain.  

Next year, the experience will be coming to six new cities: Nashville, Tennessee; Denver; Phoenix; San Francisco; Washington, DC; and Toronto. You can go to the  Friends Experience website to join the waitlist and learn more about opening dates and ticket sales when they become available.

The Friends Experience's New York City flagship will continue to sell tickets through March 27. Those tickets cost $45 plus taxes and fees, and can be purchased via the  Friends Experience New York page .

In addition to set re-creations, visitors can see original props and costumes from the show and can shop at the Friends Experience store. (The store is also open to the public.) The New York City location also has a grab-and-go cafe within a re-created Central Perk.

COVID-19 protocols will be in place for the tours, including social distancing, mask requirements and "thorough cleaning and sanitization measures," according to a release.

The One in San Francisco: A Review of The "Friends" Experience

If you've ever wondered what it's like to lounge on Monica Geller's couch, strum a tune on Phoebe Buffay's guitar, or sip a steaming cup of coffee in the middle of Central Perk, The "Friends" Experience can make it happen. After establishing a permanent location in New York City in 2019 for the show's 25th anniversary , the interactive experience — created in partnership with Warner Bros. and Superfly X — opened up in seven other US cities, as well as Toronto. On Oct. 13, the experience became available in San Francisco, so I took the opportunity to check it out for myself and see if it truly lives up to '90s vibes.

What Is The "Friends" Experience?

Like the iconic TV show, the experience — which took almost eight months to design — focuses on the main cast : Monica, Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Chandler (Matthew Perry), Joey (Matt LeBlanc), Phoebe, and Ross (David Schwimmer). "It's so much nostalgia and fun that you can't help but smile," Stacy Moscatelli, copresident and chief strategy officer of Superfly X, tells POPSUGAR. Each of the 12 rooms is themed after a different character and features real props from the show, including Monica's turkey head with sunglasses and a fez, actual scripts from before the show was called "Friends," and more. The rooms also feature TVs with highlight reels of the characters' best moments and an exclusive interview with "Friends" costume designer Debra McGuire.

The best part of the experience was finding the hilarious callbacks to the show — yep, including the hockey stick from the time Joey was trapped in the entertainment unit. From Ugly Naked Guy and Rachel's 18-page letter to a wall of Magna Doodles and a tribute to the time when Joey wore all of Chandler's clothes at once, the nostalgia levels were high.

"Across all of the experiences and all of the cities, we've had over 100 [proposals]."

After pretending to cook up a storm in Monica and Rachel's apartment — the organization is impeccable — and crossing the iconic beige and green hallway to lounge in Chandler and Joey's La-Z-Boys, I stopped by Central Perk. Stepping into the coffee shop felt like being on an actual TV set, down to the "reserved" sign on the coffee table and Gunther's golden barista setup. The New York location features 18 rooms, more exclusive props on loan from Warner Bros., and a functional Central Perk where you can order a pastry and a cup of coffee and hang out with your BFFs — or propose to your lobster like over 100 other couples have done at The "Friends" Experience.

"Across all of the experiences and all of the cities, we've had over 100 [proposals]," Moscatelli says. "Sometimes they tell us in advance and ask our team to help take a picture or make sure they can get a clean moment and a little bit of privacy. That's probably up there as one of the most special [parts of the experience] . . . In New York, we have the facade of the wedding chapel from the Vegas episode, so we hosted a wedding in the space at the chapel."

How Long Does The "Friends" Experience Take?

In total, the entire experience took about 45 minutes to an hour to walk through, but you could definitely stay longer if you show up with some friends ready to re-create the show's most iconic scenes (costumes and '90s attire highly recommended).

Where Is The "Friends" Experience Located?

The "Friends" Experience had temporary runs in Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Phoenix, Washington DC, and Denver and will open in Paris in November. The experience will also be opening a permanent international location soon.

How Much Does The "Friends" Experience Cost?

Tickets for The "Friends" Experience start at $34 for adults. Seniors, students, and military personnel can also purchase tickets for a discounted price. If you don't have time to walk through the full experience or you just want to stop by to grab a gift for a major "Friends" fan in your life, the merch shop is open to the public, no ticket purchase required.

Inside the New Interactive Friends Experience in King of Prussia

The immersive exhibit lets you re-create favorite moments from the iconic '90s sitcom. Could we be any more excited?

Friends went off the air in 2004, but it really never left us, what with its constant syndication; the show grew even more in popularity when it started streaming. (All 236 episodes are currently on HBO Max.) If you’ve always dreamt of singing “Smelly Cat” at the Central Perk, reading Rachel’s letter to Ross (“18 pages, front and back !”), or wearing all of Chandler’s clothes, you’re in luck.

Originally created for the show’s 25th anniversary, the Friends Experience began as an interactive pop-up in New York before finding a permanent home there and being replicated as a touring exhibit. And now it’s in King of Prussia as “ The One Near Philadelphia ,” running through May 29th. Could we be any more excited? Here’s what to expect at the Friends Experience.

With faithfully recreated sets, props and costumes, you can reenact some of the show’s most iconic moments with your own friends.

Ross was never going to get that couch up his building’s stairs, and neither will you! It’s firmly in place, so you can pose for countless photos (and videos of you screaming “Pivot!” at your friends, obviously) without your arms getting tired.

Other favorite moments get their spotlight, including a “Could I be wearing any more clothes?” tableau for you to pop your head through for a photo.

You can also wander into Rachel and Monica’s kitchen (the attention to detail on all the shelves is incredible) and Chandler and Joey’s apartment (so many Magna Doodles).

In the former, you can pose next to the purple door, and sit at the kitchen table; in the latter, you can play foosball and even “quick-draw” the guys’ leather Barcaloungers.

In between the two apartments? The hallway, of course. And if you look closely, there’s some cheesecake left on the floor from “The One With All the Cheesecakes,” naturally.

The final major set piece is the Central Perk cafe with yet another orange couch to pose on. You can also get behind the counter, whose chalkboard menu has some cute jokes that you could easily miss while marveling at all the other details around you.

In between the major sets, you’ll also find a section for each of the six main characters, with props, trivia and video clips reminding you of their best moments. Exclusive to the KOP location, you’ll find a jukebox in Phoebe’s section with a variety of dialogue clips for you to select.

Speaking of trivia, there isn’t a ton of brand-new information , especially for seasoned fans, but one particular section at the beginning describing the costume designer’s process with video interviews and recreated outfits for each character was pretty interesting.

For the most part,  though, the Friends Experience is a lot like the show — and that’s not a bad thing at all. Don’t think about it too hard, look cute, have fun, and enjoy the nostalgia.

Exit Through the Gift Shop

The gift shop is accessible whether you have a ticket or not, so if you’re just looking to score an “Oh. My. Gawd.” shirt, “Crap Bag” tote, Central Perk apron or replica of Joey’s penguin stuffy Hugsy, you can stop by any time the experience is open. The swag is pricy, sure, but the references are on point.

In addition to your free “Pivot!” photo, which is included with your ticket price, you can also buy additional shots — or a full digital package — at the end.

Know Before You Go

The Friends Experience runs through May 29th at the King of Prussia Mall ( 160 North Gulph Road ). Pro tip: Park in the blue lot near Urban Outfitters, then take the escalator to the third floor.

Timed entry tickets are available starting at $32 for adults and $26 for kids ages four through 10 (ages three and under are free). Additionally, you can get a “Flexible Entry” ticket ($39) for access to the experience at any time on your selected date. Premium tickets ($46.50) will let you skip the line, and they’ll also throw in a “The One Near Philadelphia” mug. There are also discounts for groups, seniors, students and members of the military.

The one where 'Central Perk' comes to Nashville: 'Friends' Experience tour announces 2022 stop

Ever wish you could step into the set of Friends? This is your chance. 

Fans will have a chance to re-enact all their favorite moments from the iconic TV show when the traveling Friends Experience comes to Nashville in 2022. A recreated set, including original props, will be part of the tour stop. 

"Hang out in Monica and Rachel’s apartment, poke Ugly Naked Guy on the balcony and kick back and relax in Joey and Chandler’s comfy chairs," the event website said. 

Superfly X and Warner Bros. teamed up to create the interactive "immersive" experience to celebrate the show, which premiered in 1994 and ran for 10 seasons. 

The Friends Experience is currently running in New York City and Dallas. Last week, it announced stops in Denver, Washington DC, Phoenix, San Francisco, Nashville and Toronto in 2022.

Oh. My. Gawd! The Friends Experience is coming to Boston. Here's what to know.

Could this BE any more exciting?

Tickets went on sale today for the Friends Experience in Boston . The exhibit - which puts people smack-dab in the middle of the legendary 1990s sitcom - "now features several nostalgia-packed rooms, activations and re-created sets," according to a release on the event.

As the show celebrates it's 30th anniversary (Do you feel as old as I do?), here's your chance to pull up a chair and join the gang.

Here's what to know.

How do I get tickets for The Friends Experience in Boston? How much do they cost?

Tickets can be purchased at www.FriendsTheExperience.com/Boston.

Guests can reserve timed entry tickets starting at $22 plus taxes and fees.

Where will the Friends Experience be located?

The exhibit will be located in Boston’s Back Bay at 343 Newbury St.

When is the Friends Experience coming to Boston?

It will open on May 17, 2024 and will remain open through Jan. 19, 2025.

What happens at the Friends Experience?

It's billed as "the most immersive" way to show your love of Friends.

The Boston exhibit includes the chance to:

• Pose in front of the iconic fountain from the opening
• Kickback in Chandler and Joey's recliners
• Help Ross pivot that infamous sofa
• Sit on the orange couch in the recreated Central Perk.

Basically, it's a chance to have the most perfect Friends photoshoot. In addition, "fans can also get a peek behind-the-scenes and learn about the show’s production, costume design, sets and more," according to the press release.

" An onsite 'Friends' retail store featuring exclusive products will also be open to both ticketed and non-ticketed guests."

Is the Friends Experience the actual set?

Most of the set is a recreation, but some of the props are real.

The Friends Experience in New York City is available and open to visit multiple days each week, but you must purchase tickets to enter the attraction.

Visitors can expect to see a lot of interesting items from the interiors of the hit sitcom Friends.

What to Expect at the Friends Experience

This is a pop-up exhibit that has set up shop in New York City, featuring set recreations, original props, costumes, and more.

The three main locations that have been recreated are Monica & Rachel’s apartment, Joey & Chandler’s apartment, and the Central Perk coffee shop.

If you want to see the interior of the Friends apartment or Central Perk, this is going to be pretty much the only way to do it without visiting the actual studio lot in Los Angeles.

This section will cover which attractions you can expect to see.

By the way, you’ll be allowed to take photos on each of the two floors of this exhibition!

The Orange Couch

If you’re familiar with Friends, you have undoubtedly seen this iconic couch many times on the show, as the group would gather around this area frequently.

You’ll find the couch in a recreation of the living room from the show, so it’ll look like you’re really on the set!

Guests will have an opportunity to take a selfie with their friends on the orange couch.

Monica & Rachel’s Kitchen Table

This is another area of the apartment recreation that will no doubt remind fans of many scenes throughout the series.

As with the couch, you can also grab a selfie at this location and immerse yourself in the experience of being in the same spot as your favorite characters.

Joey & Chandler’s Comfy Chairs

In addition to Monica & Rachel’s apartment, the Friends Experience also includes Joey & Chandler’s apartment.

One of the most memorable attractions you’ll find here is their comfy chairs.

If you’re visiting with a friend or partner, consider taking a photo sitting on the chairs!

Central Perk Coffee Shop

While the actual Central Perk doesn’t exist, the Friends Experience does a pretty good job of recreating the coffee shop.

You can get an idea of what it would be like to hang out at this popular location.

While they don’t offer any drinks or food, you can get authentic Central Perk merchandise from their online shop.

See Chandler’s Bunny Suit

If you’ve ever wanted to see some of the unique items worn by characters in Friends, this attraction includes a lot of wardrobe items including Chandler’s Bunny Suit.

While you might not be able to wear it, like everything else, you can of course take photos!

Find Rachel’s Cow Jacket

This is another wardrobe item that can be found at the Friends Experience, and it’s a great opportunity to talk about and remember your favorite episodes.

You’ll find many other notable props and wardrobe items here, so make sure to look around and see if you can spot everything!

Missy Elliott Announces First Headlining Tour, ‘Out Of This World,’ With Ciara, Busta Rhymes And Timbaland Supporting

Missy Elliott is hitting the road for her first-ever headlining tour, and he’s enlisting some friends.

The rapper just announced her debut headline tour, titled “Out of this World — The Missy Elliott Experience.” The North American tour kicks off this summer, and will include Busta Rhymes, Ciara and Timbaland.

“This is an incredible time in my life as I am experiencing so many milestone ‘firsts,’” Elliott said in a statement received by Blavity. “Being the FIRST female Hip Hop artist to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and now going out on my FIRST headline tour.”

She continued, “Fans have been asking me to tour forever but I wanted to wait until I felt the time was right because I knew if I was ever going to do it, I had to do it big, and I had to do it with family! So get ready to be taken OUT OF THIS WORLD with me, Busta Rhymes, Ciara, and Timbaland! We can’t wait to share this experience with the fans!”

The Out of this World tour is produced by Live Nation in partnership with Mona Scott-Young, Elliott’s manager of many years and the CEO of Monami Entertainment.

Fans of Elliott around the country are in luck — the rapper is set to take her show to 24 cities, including Vancouver, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Brooklyn and more.

Of the tour, Scott-Young said in a statement, “Missy has always been an iconic groundbreaker and continuously pushes herself to be bolder and go where she has never been before — and surprisingly, one of those places is headlining her own tour! For decades, fans and peers worldwide have clamored for Missy to tour and they’re finally going to get what they’ve been asking for as she teams up with Ciara, Busta, and longtime partner-in-rhyme Timbaland, to deliver a start-to-finish, nonstop, high-octane,  Out of this World  concert experience.
