About the hunt

Wild hogs are mostly nocturnal beasts therefore our hog hunts are conducted at night from elevated, covered box style stands overlooking lighted bait sites.  Our bait sites are kept active year round with a combination of sugary sweet, salty, fatty foods including sweet potatoes, oats, molasses corn and peanut butter.  We guarantee there will never be a shortage of food at ANY of our bait sites because you cant kill pigs without lots of food!  Our stands are built for comfort so we suggest you hunt for long sits or all night long.  Your guide will transport you to and from the stands, track and drag your hog out and clean your kill for a small fee.

There is an abundance of wild deer and hogs that roam these lands. We manage our game quite well to have plenty of trophy hogs and deer for our clients to have a chance to hunt.

Deer Hunting

Our whitetail deer hunts take place over corn, soybean fields, food plots, cut overs, thick pines, and low swamp areas. Deer hunts start in the morning before light and end around lunch time. Then head back out around 2:00 PM and hunt till dark.

Also, they have disease-carrying tendencies that pose a threat to human beings, livestock, and wildlife. For these reasons, the NCWRC is working with hunters to help eradicate the hog. In this guide for hog hunting in North Carolina we will try to give you all the information you need for a successful and legal hunt.

Hog hunting regulations in North Carolina

Hog hunting in North Carolina is legal all year for both local and visiting hunters. Hunting is to be done between thirty minutes after sunset and thirty minutes before sunrise. During this period, hunters are allowed to use registered firearms and archery to take down the hogs. There is an exemption to this law during weekends; however, where hunting cannot be carried out. Also, where there are local hunting laws, they are allowed to prevail over this one.

According to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, all hunters are required to have a feral swine hunting at night permit or a GS 113-276. The annual license will set a local back some 20 dollars. There is no limit to how many hogs you can hunt. But you must understand that the permit does not give you access to any property, and neither does it authorize hunting on North Carolinas game land.

Welcome to Backwoods Trophy Outfitters located in Hertford County, North Carolina. We have over 12,000 acres of private land located throughout Hertford, and Bertie Counties. Here at Backwoods Trophy Outfitters, North Carolina’s premiere whitetail hunting destination, we specialize in guided whitetail deer, black bear, and spring eastern turkey hunts. 

We offer up to 5 day hunts, lodging and 3 meals a day. We have a 4000 sq ft lodge with 6 bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms each bedroom has its own full bathroom.
