November 24, 2024
The enviably fresh-faced Jamie Cullum has navigated the jazz and pop landscape for the last two decades and still maintains his youthful persona and energy. Since the release of his self-funded Pointless Nostalgic, his Jazz credentials have morphed further than standards, seeing this singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist collaborate with diversely different artists, such as John Legend, Lady Gaga, Burt Bacharach and more!
Since moving to the UK in 2008, Katherine Ryan has risen to become one of the country's most recognisable comedians. Cutting her teeth on all the usual panel shows, including Mock The Week, Taskmaster et al, she has proven her live chops in two hit specials, In Trouble and The Glitter Room, created and starred in her own Netflix show, The Duchess. Now heading out her fourth tour, Battleaxe catch this razor-sharp modern comedy icon when she brings the laughs to you!

Katherine Ryan: Missus
Canadian comic katherine ryan has announced her new tour 'missus', catch her live at sec armadillo on 26th march 2022.
About Katherine Ryan: Missus
Born and raised in a small town in Ontario, Canadian comedian Katherine Ryan found comedy stardom after she relocated to London. Finding kindred spirits on the capital's stand-up scene helped the former Hooters staff trainer (Ryan claimed she was fired for writing "club sandwiches not seals" on a specials board) hone her voice and progress from open mic nights to eventually becoming a familiar face on panel shows and a team captain on 8 Out Of 10 Cats. Ryan proved herself to be something of a spiritual successor to the late Joan Rivers, due to her fondness for caustic put-downs and willingness to venture into dangerous territory in pursuit of a joke. These traits also earned her a spot alongside the similarly minded Jimmy Carr on Channel 4’s Your Face Or Mine and Netflix panel show The Fix. By 2019, Ryan had cemented a productive partnership with the streaming giant, including two well received comedy specials, Glitter Room and In Trouble. An appearance on Who Do You Think You Are? led to a trip home to Canada and a reconnection with her childhood sweetheart, who she later married in 2019. That same year, Katherine Ryan toured the UK for a second time. In 2020, Netflix released the sitcom The Duchess, written by and starring Ryan as a single mother in London. Ryan has said the series is a heightened version of her own life story, particularly in her portrayal of a single mother in a foreign city. In October 2020, Katherine Ryan announced her Missus UK tour, set to kick off in September 2021 and run until May 2022. The name of the tour references the previously determinedly single Ryan's newly married status.

Katherine Ryan announces a new tour
Battleaxe hits the road in September
Katherine Ryan is to announce a major new tour, Battleaxe.
The comic is due to appear on Jonathan Ross' ITV talk show tonight and she teased that she will break some news 'that my kids will hate'.
The new show, which promises 'a true masterclass in how to enter your Battleaxe era' will hit the road in September and run through to May 2025, and includes three nights at the London Palladium.
In November, she revealed that she was itching to go on tour again next year, but that the demands of motherhood were holding her back.
At the time, she told the Evening Standard: "I’m going to take a little bit of time now to do the stand-up circuit again, kind of start from the beginning and do clubs and pubs and open mic nights.
'I’m almost finished breast feeding, I feel like I just love stand-up but I feel grateful that people come to see me on purpose but I don’t want to do another tour until I’ve got a really good new show and get a babysitter.
Ryan, 40, has a son Fred, two, and daughter Fenna, one, with her husband Bobby Kootstra as well as 14-year-old Violet from a previous relationship.
Their family dynamic is explored in Ryan's current W show Parental Guidance, while she is also about to be a team captain on Rosie Jones ' Comedy Central panel show Out of Order, with Judi Love fronting the opposing team.
>> Katherine Ryan tour dates
* The Jonathan Ross Show is on ITV1 at 10.35pm, tonight. Other guests include Noel Fielding talking about his Apple series The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin.
