After 40 years, Kwik Trip will no longer sell milk in plastic bag starting in May

kwik trip milk sale

For over four decades, Kwik Trip customers prided themselves on saving pennies and the environment by purchasing milk in a plastic bag. Week after week they would secure the bag using a special pitcher and then pour.

This week the LaCrosse-based company made the decision to discontinue the sale of Nature’s Touch bagged milk across all stores beginning in May 2024. Company officials attribute the change to guest preferences and purchasing patterns, citing declining demand for the bagged product compared to milk sold in jugs.

Scott Zietlow, CEO of Kwik Trip said that after thorough consideration and analysis, the company decided to discontinue bagged milk to focus on items that resonate more strongly with guests.

John McHugh, Vice President of External Relations said the company marketing department has contacted groups who had special promotional coupons for bagged milk and have offered a new solution with our other milk offerings.

"This is an end to a product that was associated with the Kwik Trip brand for many years, but after evaluating the need and cost for new equipment to replace our antiquated bagged milk equipment, and the decreased customer demand, we made the tough decision to discontinue Nature’s Touch milk in the bag,” McHugh said.

Four NFL Draft storylines to watch + final QB deep dive with Derrik Klassen | The Exempt List

Charles McDonald is joined by Derrik Klassen of Bleacher Report and Reception Perception to give their final thoughts ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft on storylines to watch and this fascinating quarterback class. The duo start off with the news that Zach Wilson has been traded to the Denver Broncos. Both agree this doesn't mean a lot for anyone except Ben DiNucci, but Charles asks if the New York Jets should consider drafting Aaron Rodgers' replacement at tenth overall (or later in the draft). There are 4-5 first round picks at quarterback this year, and Derrik has charted all of them. Charles and Derrik do a final deep dive on each of the top QBs, breaking down the strengths and weaknesses of Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix Jr. and J.J. McCarthy. Later, Charles presents his four storylines to watch this Thursday as the 2024 NFL Draft kicks off. Charles thinks the ideal landing spot for Drake Maye is the Minnesota Vikings, and that Denver trading up is irresponsible. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars are an ideal candidate to make a move and trade up for a wide receiver or cornerback. Finally Charles presents his take that this defensive tackle class is underrated, which sparks a conversation around how college linebackers are letting the NFL down.

HIGH FIVE: 5 Things Kwik Trip Can Put in a Bag Instead of Milk

After more than 40 years, the bagged milk is no more, but we’ve got other bagged ideas.

McKenna Scherer | April 18, 2024

IN OUR BAG. Kwik Trip announced it would be ridding its product lines of its bagged milk, ending a 40-year run of the offering. What will be put in a bag next?

Kwik Trip, the Midwest’s beloved convenience store and gas station, recently announced it is discontinuing its bagged milk after more than four decades of selling it due to a decline in sales compared to its milk in jugs. The change will be implemented by May. Luckily, we just came up five more items Kwik Trip can sell in bags.

1. BAG OF FRIED CHICKEN

Kwik Trip’s latest campaign promoting its fried chicken contains some … choice slang. It was described as having “serious rizz” in promotional signage, while other phrases include “Our chicken just hits different” and “Chicken that slaps,” among others. Take that however you want, but at this point, just put it in a gallon-sized bag at a good price and I’ll buy it, OK?

2. BAG OF SLUSHY

Listen, I could get a Mega Buddy-sized Slushy, but sometimes it just isn’t big enough. Put it in a huge, slappable bag, give me an appropriately-sized straw, and I’ll be on my way.

3. BAG OF CHERRY DUNKERS

Kwik Trip’s donuts – specifically, the Dunkers – are a welcome surprise in our office’s break room, typically brought in by some kind-souled coworker who knew we all needed the sugary boost. But seriously, a six-pack? Who does that help? Put 50 Cherry Dunkers (my personal favorite, and I’ll stand on that hill) in a bag, now.

4. BAG OF KARUBA

Obviously, to go along with my 50 Cherry Dunkers in a bag, I will require a gallon-sized bag of iced Karuba to-go. The specialty iced drink machines are cute and fun, but the cups are certainly not fun-sized. An insulated bag fit to carry my gallon of iced Karuba coffee will be fun-sized and functional, probably.

5. BAG OF GAS

Whatever, you knew this was coming. Is that safe? No. Is that practical? Not really. But is it convenient? If the bag has handles, then maybe. But since Kwik Trip is a gas station, I’m putting it on this list. Bag of Gas. Go.
