• The Lady Elliot Island Great Barrier Reef all-inclusive Day Tour is the only one of its type in Australia. The visit allows you to view one of the most pristine sections of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef from the air as well as from above and below the water all in one day.
• Your tour commences with a pickup from your Gold Coast hotel at approx. 6.00 am and a complimentary transfer to our private terminal to board your scenic flight to the coral cay of Lady Elliot Island. Lady Elliot is regarded as one of the best snorkelling and diving locations on the reef, famous for its unspoilt coral reef and an amazing array of marine life! On the way enjoy the aerial views of the Gold Coast, North and South Stradbroke Islands, Moreton Island and Fraser Island. Upon arrival on Lady Elliot Island, your guide will take you on a brief orientation tour of the island and escort you to the Day Guest facilities to collect your snorkel equipment.
• You will then join a glass-bottom boat & guided snorkel tour to view a large variety of coral and brilliantly coloured fish, with the possibility to encounter turtles, dolphins and the resident manta rays. A hot & cold buffet lunch is served in the Beachfront Dining Room and includes a choice of wine, beer and soft drink. After lunch, join your guide for fish feeding in the Fish Pond and at 2.30 pm depart on a scenic flight back to the Gold Coast. The tour concludes at approx. 4.30 pm with a return transfer to your hotel. A light breakfast and afternoon tea (water & biscuit) are served inflight.
• LUGGAGE LIMIT: Small backpack (max 4kg) or personal items e.g. handbags/purse, tablet or laptop in a thin case, camera, coat/wrap. Items must be carried on the lap or put in the baggage compartment as there are no overhead lockers and there is no storage facility under the seats

• Reef walking shoes (covered toes)/crocs are highly recommended (reef walking shoes available on the island)

Guests staying outside this area can be picked up from a designated meeting place within these perimeters.

Lady Elliot Island is an easy-to-reach paradise on the Great Barrier Reef, famous for its manta ray population.

Lady Elliot Island has extraordinary marine life and glittering white beaches made entirely of crushed coral. Walk around the island and take in the lush surroundings, or go diving or snorkelling just off the beach. Lady Elliot Island is a sanctuary to over 1,200 species of marine life and known for its large populations of giant manta rays and turtles. It’s also known for a commitment to sustainability through its use of renewable energy, invasive species eradication and other notable initiatives.

Lady Elliot Island is only accessible by a small chartered aircraft from Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast), Bundaberg, Brisbane or the Gold Coast. Your flight will be arranged by the reservations team at Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort when you book your accommodation.

• Flights from Brisbane depart from Redcliffe Aerodrome (RCL) and take about 80 minutes
• Flights from the Gold Coast depart from the Seair Pacific hangar, 1.5km (1mi) north of the Gold Coast Airport (OOL) and take just under two hours 
• Flights from Hervey Bay Airport (HVB) take about 40 minutes
• Flights from Bundaberg Regional Airport (BDB) take about 30 minutes

You can’t drive on the island, so your activities and experiences can be arranged through Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort.

Lady Elliot Island experiences a range of wildlife events throughout the year, so when you decide to go will depend on what you want to see. Manta ray numbers are at their highest between June and September, while seabird nesting season begins in September. Large sea turtles come to the sand to nest between November and February.

Getting Here

Access to Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort is on small aircraft chartered from Seair Pacific to transport our guests to and from the Island. As Lady Elliot Island is the most remote Great Barrier Reef island regularly accessed, boat access is impractical.

Seair has been the provider of aircraft charter to the resort since 1996 and its pilots are very experienced in operating into and out of the grass airstrip which runs the entire length of the island.

Lady Elliot Island is the only coral cay Island with an airstrip on the Great Barrier Reef. Our scenic flight transfers are one of the highlights of the overall guest experience and all our visitors enjoy two scenic flights providing a bird’s eye view of the reef as part of their visit to our unique Island paradise.

Lady Elliot Island is a private closed destination and permission to access the Island is only granted by the Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort, no other flight access is permitted.

Check in at the Lady Elliot Island counter at Hervey Bay/Fraser Coast Airport, Gate 2 in the main terminal. Please view driving map/directions HERE . Please check in 30 minutes prior to departure. Your flight will be arranged in coordination with your accommodation booking.

To reach Hervey Bay/Fraser Coast by Air: Qantas and Jetstar provide flights from Australia’s major cities to Hervey Bay Airport.

To reach Hervey Bay/Fraser Coast – Self-Drive: Hervey Bay/Fraser Coast is just over 3 hours drive (289km) north of Brisbane, via the Bruce Highway.

To reach Hervey Bay/Fraser Coast by Rail: Queensland Rail offers a train service between Brisbane and Maryborough. A Shuttle Bus can transfer you from Maryborough to Hervey Bay. For more information on the timetable visit  Queensland Rail Travel’s  website.

To reach Hervey Bay/Fraser Coast by Bus: Greyhound Pioneer and Premier Motor Services provide a daily air-conditioned coach service between the Fraser Coast (Hervey Bay and Maryborough) and Brisbane (Airport and City Transit Centre in Roma Street).

Check in at the Lady Elliot Island/QantasLink counter at Bundaberg Airport (counter may not always be attended and the pilot will meet you shortly prior to boarding). To get to Bundaberg by Air: Qantas and Link Airways provide daily flights from Brisbane to Bundaberg Airport.

To reach Bundaberg – Self-Drive: Bundaberg is just over 4 hours drive (390km) north of Brisbane, via the Bruce Highway.

To get to Bundaberg by Rail: Queensland Rail offers a Tilt train service between Brisbane and Bundaberg. For more information on the Tilt Train timetable visit  Queensland Rail Travel’s  website.

The scenic flight from Brisbane (Redcliffe) to Lady Elliot Island takes approximately 80 minutes. Redcliffe Aerodrome is approximately 40 minutes drive north of Brisbane city. The pilot will greet you directly in front of the amenities block. Please view driving map/directions HERE . Your flight will be arranged in coordination with your accommodation booking.  Transfers between Brisbane and Redcliffe can also be added if required.

As access to Lady Elliot Island is via small aircraft only, it is important for us to be aware in advance of any passengers requiring assistance with mobility, travelling with a wheelchair or walking aid. Additionally as we use standard passenger weights for all guests on our flights, if anyone in your booking weights over 100kg please inform us of their actual weight so that we can ensure safe loading of our aircraft.

For safety reasons, certain items may need prior approval before being transported or used on the island. Other items are prohibited from being flown in the aircraft or used on the island. Please see below:

Seair and Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort reserve the right to refuse to transport any item that they deem to be a safety risk for the flight or use on the island.
