A band that dabble in the genres of indie rock and hardcore rock (often in the same songs), Lower Than Atlantis are a group that appeal to quite a large number of the rock demographic. After recently signing to Sony Records, the lads from Watford are likely to hit the mainstream very soon coinciding with the release of their new, self-titled album. They have changed their style quite drastically since their first album release, going for a more light-hearted rock sound rather than their former aggressive selves, but still remain good at what they do.

For those of their thousands of fans who went to see them perform at Reading in August 2014, they got to witness a very energetic performance. After a rendition of 'If The World Was To End', they went onto perform 'Motorway Of Life', a tune that got everyone jumping around as soon as the first few chords were strummed. The song contained hardcore elements throughout the verses, but the song that followed was certainly a lot more emotional and powerful. There was barely any instruments played throughout 'Another Sad Song', the band instead let the fans take over as they sang every word together... it was enough to make the hairs stand on the back of your neck!

The final song was the most popular of the night. The tune 'Here We Go' seems to be a track about a fairytale story, but the rock and roll nature of the tune started off a mosh pit in the middle of audience. The strobe white lighting that flashed in different directions in the darkness of the tent did build up a very fitting atmosphere for the gig, and I have my fingers crossed that there's going to be more of that darkness in their upcoming album and subsequent tours that has made their discography so successful.

Lower Than Atlantis were so good! The crowd was fun and very lively in places, the support acts really got everyone started. They came into the crowd at one point which was really exciting, seeing him play an acoustic part was just a beautiful moment! Was sad I didn't managed to get a plectrum though, maybe I'll just have to go and see them again. Everything seemed really good I mean the music was a great standard, they are quite an established band now and they really know what they're are doing, getting the crowd involved in pictures and stuff! Just made for a great evening, especially if you don't mind getting pushed around and jumping for a bit!,

Ten things you need to know about Lower Than Atlantis, American tour dates announced

English rock band Lower Than Atlantis released their self-titled fourth full-length album in 2014 to rave reviews; U.K.-based magazine Rock Sound named it their favorite album of 2014. The record was even funded by the band, and it is the first of their four albums to be released by a major label. The band (currently signed to Sony Records) is now working their way back across America beginning in late October, touring the States with Hands Like Houses, The Mighty, Brigades and Too Close To Touch in support of the effort, including its new single “Get Over It.”

To familiarize any newcomers to the band, we set out to find ten things about the band you should know before hitting up a show. One extra interesting tidbit to kick it off: vocalist Mike Duce wrote for 5 Seconds of Summer. Jam the band’s latest single below, then get to know them!

• Guitarist Ben Sansom and guitarist/vocalist Mike Duce started Lower Than Atlantis in college in 2007. Drummer Eddy Thrower and bassist Declan Hart joined during the recording of the first full-length album, Far Q (released in 2010), which is when they consider the band to have officially started.
• A few years ago, the band spent a few months touring the U.S. with outright metal bands. The tour was hard on them, not working out in their favor because their style was so different from the rest of the bands.
• Playing a show with Foo Fighters would be a dream come true for Lower Than Atlantis. Duce even went so far as to say, “I would probably open mouth kiss my dad to open for Foo Fighters.”
• LTA “found their sound” with their last album, and the group’s only plan musically is to continue to get better at writing in that style.
• The band struggles to name their varied musical influences. They simply draw in their favorite elements of everything from death metal to pop chart music and “regurgitate it” in their own way.
• Their latest single “Get Over It” takes a crack at a subject that has probably inspired more songwriters than anything else: It’s a song about a girl. Classic.
• The band’s name came about because Duce started writing with a rather downtrodden, melancholy lyrical style when he felt lower than Atlantis, which is at the bottom of the sea. Looking back, he does say it’s kind of a “stupid name, really. Like most band names.”
• When not in studio or on the road, the guys spend their time running, listening to music, enjoying football, cooking and drinking beer.
• As a band with great chemistry on and off stage, they attribute it to being “best friends that play music and travel the world” together.
• LTA was asked to join a few shows with Blink 182 after they somehow made their way backstage at a Blink tour stop in Cardiff, Wales and gave Mark Hoppus one of their CDs.

Lower Than Atlantis are an English rock band, formed in 2007 and based in Watford, Hertfordshire. The band currently consists of lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Mike Duce, bassist Declan Hart, drummer Eddy Thrower and lead guitarist Ben Sansom. The band released their debut EP Bretton in 2008. Their first full-length album Far Q was released in 2010.
