13 Stunning All-inclusive Resorts in the Maldives

Overwater bungalows, white-sand beaches, and crystal-clear lagoons are even better with a no-hassle all-inclusive package.

Laze away in the sanctuary of an overwater bungalow, lounge on white-sand beaches, and admire some of the world's most spectacular marine life during a snorkeling excursion. You can experience all this and more in the Maldives : a chain of nearly 1,200 gorgeous islands that fan out across the Indian Ocean.

Many of the top-rated properties in the archipelago offer "half board" or "full board" options, in which breakfast and/or dinner are offered as part of the nightly rate. Keep in mind, however, that there are surprisingly few true all-inclusive resorts in the Maldives and even fewer packages that include high-end liquor and excursions.

To help you sort through the options, we've picked some of the Maldives' best all-inclusives that include epicurean delights, dreamy accommodations, and ultra-luxe extras. There might even be a private lagoon with your name on it.

Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa

The airy suites and overwater villas at Centara Grand are a welcome reward after a seaplane and a speedboat ride. Some even feature private plunge pools and steps that lead directly into a sparkling coral reef. There’s a variety of meal plan offerings so you can design your experience to your specific needs. Thanks to the generous Grand All-Inclusive plan at this family-friendly outpost (notably one of the most inclusive in the country) guests can enjoy sunset cruises and whale shark snorkeling tours. That’s on top of all meals and premium drinks, including afternoon tea and all-day snacks.

Outrigger Maldives Maafushivaru

At Maafushivaru , accommodations range from spacious Beach Villas with outdoor rainfall showers and private decks to splurge-worthy Over Water Villas built right over the lagoon and accessible by private walkway. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, unlimited beverages and select alcoholic beverages, and a stocked mini-bar are included in the all-inclusive meal plan for guests who stay three nights or more, in addition to daily complimentary ice cream, non-motorized water sports, a 10% discount on spa treatments, a 20% discount on destination dining experiences, and a choice of a snorkeling cruise or sunset excursion.

LUX* South Ari Atoll

This exquisite private island resort leaps from the pages of a tropical fairytale, sandbars, ocean hammocks, and all.

On the island of Dhidhoofinolhu, the aptly-named LUX* South Ari Atoll , with its 193 villas and pavilions perched above a lagoon, offers a perfect balance of indulgent pampering and action-packed adventures. "This exquisite private island resort leaps from the pages of a tropical fairytale, sandbars, ocean hammocks, and all," said Rosie Bell , a Travel + Leisure contributor.

The standard all-inclusive rate covers meals and drinks at seven of the nine onsite eateries, yoga classes, access to the spa's plunge pool and sauna, an impressive selection of water sports, and a snorkeling trip to the house reef. Grab a cold brew from the café (beans roasted on-site) before perfecting your tan at one of two infinity pools.

Bell told T+L: "During my four never-to-be-forgotten days on the island, I hobnobbed with hip honeymooners and water addicts who spent nights shimmying during the DJ parties at Beach Rouge — a Miami-meets-Maldives beach club — and by day, took full advantage of the resort’s extraordinary location in the South Ari Marine Protected Area (SAMPA). Welcome news for divers, this is the best place in the Maldives for year-round whale shark sightings."

Lily Beach Resort & Spa

Jacuzzi plunge pools, luxury amenities, direct beach access, and unmatched ocean views — these are the delights that await guests staying in a villa or suite at Lily Beach Resort & Spa . With the Platinum Plan, you can send the kids off to Turtle Kids' Club while you enjoy unlimited cocktails and live entertainment at four of the resort's seven restaurants and bars. Each guest receives three complimentary excursions per stay, which might be a sunset cruise, coral garden snorkeling, or a day trip to a local fishing village.

Komandoo Maldives Island Resort

This adults-only retreat in the Lhaviyani Atoll facilitates romance in every way, with overwater and beach villas (many of which have private Jacuzzi tubs) and an all-inclusive gold package that includes a sunset cruise and a discount for selected spa treatments. The resort invites you to explore, with a group windsurfing trip and other excursions all part of the rate.

"Pantone shades of blue encompass this small, narrow private island in the diver-friendly Lhaviyani Atoll," said Katie Lockhart , a T+L contributor. "The best parts of my day here were spent snorkeling its house reef and reading on the large outdoor deck while the palm trees swayed above."

Though it's not included with the package, guests should still make a reservation at Hurawalhi Maldives — Komandoo's sibling property — for lunch or dinner at 5.8 Undersea Restaurant . While you work your way through the tasting menu, you can watch tropical fish, turtles, and even manta rays flit past your table, submerged 5.8 meters under the cobalt waters. "While I’ll never say no to a rotating buffet, the resort’s overwater restaurant with glass-bottom is a must," said Lockhart.

Kandolhu Maldives

Each of the 30 stylish villas at this intimate resort is a dream for architecture fans, with five distinct floor plans that capitalize on their locations throughout the property. Soak in a bathtub set behind floor-to-ceiling windows with nothing but blue in sight. If that isn't enough to keep you on the grounds, Kandolhu 's Ultimate Inclusions plan covers all meals at the resort's five restaurants, wines found in your personal wine chiller, a spa discount, and more, including either one snorkeling tour or champagne sunset cruise per person, per stay.

Constance Moofushi

Hop aboard a Maldivian dhoni boat for your complimentary excursion around the island of Moofushi, nestled within the South Ari Atoll, because the All-Inclusive Package at this Constance resort leaves nothing to be desired. You can have pancakes by the pool, unlimited signature cocktails, and all of your meals at the sand-floored restaurant where the menu changes daily. Even wine pairings from the expansive wine cellar are covered. There are more than 30 dive sites within a half hour of the island (additional fees apply), but you'll likely be perfectly happy spending your time relaxing in your thatch-roofed villa floating above the turquoise sea.

Constance Halaveli

Moofushi's sister property, Constance Halaveli , caters to multigenerational trips, with family, two-story, and presidential villa options, and the on-site Constance Kids Club, where little ones can play in the sand, learn how to make pizza and ice cream, or watch movies. Plus, all villas come with a private plunge pool and terrace. The island itself is shaped like a dhoni and sits in the North Ari Atoll, making it a prime location for diving, snorkeling, and dolphin watching. The all-inclusive rate takes care of all meals and beverages (at select restaurants and bars), free Wi-Fi, and two scheduled water excursions per stay, among plenty of other perks like complimentary in-room spirits and snorkeling equipment.

Adaaran Prestige Water Villas

Ten upscale villas, outfitted with chic wooden interiors and glass-bottomed sundecks, hover over the waters of the Raa Atoll. Take full advantage of Adaaran Prestige 's abundant amenities and lovely details, like sparkling wine upon arrival, daily fresh fruit and hors d'oeuvres, and nightly turndown service, complete with petit fours. Should you actually have a need for something, butler services are on-call around the clock. Booking the all-inclusive package gets you meals and drinks, a cooking and a cocktail demonstration, snorkeling equipment, and a sunset photo cruise or nighttime fishing tour.

Four Seasons Private Island at Voavah

You can live like a celebrity on a remote private island located in the Baa Atoll. Voavah assures prospective guests that there are accommodations for private staff, should they need it, and that flying in big-name acts to create your own private concert is totally doable. It's all about supreme luxury at the seven-bedroom, three-villa paradise situated on UNESCO territory.

The resort even boasts its own yacht and seaplane, private chefs, and a spa stilted above the lagoon. The stay is fully customizable: snorkel with manta rays in the morning, enjoy a lobster-themed dinner, and end the night reveling in the talents of a Maldivian dance troupe.

"When I stepped foot onto this seven-room home away from home in September 2023, the warm and welcoming island team set the tone for an ultra-customized stay," Lockhart told T+L. "The island’s main house has Arabic patterns and design touches throughout the bedrooms and sprawling first-floor living area. While the beach rooms may have more space, I preferred the boho-chic overwater rooms, a dreamy spot to sip fresh coconuts from the ocean-view plunge tub. And when I wasn’t jumping off the private yacht — included in the island’s stay — the overwater spa with glass bottom and treatments only found on Voavah left me melting into the sand below."

Meeru Island Resort & Spa

Looking for a truly classic Maldivian experience? Meeru Island Resort & Spa is one of the oldest and largest resorts in all of the Maldives, and with all that property comes plenty of things to do. Hang out on the family-friendly or adults-only side of the resort (yes, Meeru has both) — either way, you can spend your vacation dining at globally inspired restaurants and bars, trying your hand at different water sports, and blissing out at the resort's two spas. With the resort's All Inclusive Plus Package, you'll score daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner at one of two buffet-style restaurants, one three-course set menu dinner in the Asian Wok or Hot Rock Restaurant for every five nights stay, unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, free group snorkeling, windsurfing, golf driving range lessons, and more.

Kihaa Maldives

When it comes to privacy, Kihaa Maldives takes things to a whole new level. Based on its own private island in Baa Atoll, this family-friendly resort is what luxury all-inclusive dreams are made of. Those who choose the resort's all-inclusive package can score daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks at Malaafaiy, Kihaa's main buffet restaurant. Adventurous guests may also try their hand at snorkeling, diving, windsurfing, and jet skiing, while visitors who prefer blissful relaxation can indulge in a range of massages and beauty treatments at the resort's award-winning overwater spa. Younger guests will especially enjoy the fun and safe Kids Club program, but it's the once-in-a-lifetime excursions, such as dolphin safaris, sunset cruises, and trips to local villages that the whole family will never forget.

Baros Maldives

Unlike many other Maldivian resorts, Baros offers several all-inclusive options so that guests can truly customize their stay in North Male Atoll. Perhaps one of the best offers is the resort's Blissful Baros package. With Blissful Baros, guests will receive daily breakfast and dinner at Lime, Baros' lavish lagoon-side restaurant, a fruit basket and champagne on arrival, daily sunrise yoga, a spa discount, a dining discount at the Cayenne Grill and The Lighthouse Restaurant, and airport transfer. Other packages, such as the Book Direct, offer inclusions like complimentary snorkeling equipment and non-motorized water sports. No matter which package you choose, you're sure to have an unsurpassed experience exploring the Maldives on land and sea.

Remember Me

Forget the beach: How you can experience the real Maldives

maldives travel magazine

I was on a boat in the middle of the Indian Ocean, about to taste real life in the Maldives .

A crew of fishermen from Sun Siyam Iru Veli , located in the Dhaalu Atoll, set up the fishing lines. We were anchored off the shores of the nearby local island Bandidhoo, where people fish tuna for money and smaller reef fish for their tables.

The task seemed simple enough: bait attached to a hook tied to the end of a fishing line, which I was to hold by hand. As the line dropped to the reef, I was to wait for the feel of a fish nibbling on the bait. Then I’d just pull the line by hand, and voilà: a catch. No poles or spears required.

Long-line fishing is a generations-old tradition in the Maldives, a way of life for its people. Living in an island nation where not much grows, Maldivians sustain themselves off of fish and coconuts. Not only is it an ancient practice, but long-line fishing is sustainable, taking just a few fish at a time with minimal damage to coral reefs or bycatch.

I quickly learned that I was not a natural long-line fisher. For the next hour, I mistook the moving current for a gullible fish when I was actually the gullible one. Other times, the fish was stealthy enough to take the bait without me feeling anything at all.

Learn more: Best travel insurance

Instead, I watched the fishermen work their magic. The line danced in their hands, flying up and down. Sensitive to the slightest movement going on 65 feet underwater, they knew the exact moment to start pulling the line up and win the battle against the fish.

As the sun set over the water, we caught a total of nine fish, including emperor fish, batfish and humpback snapper.

Although the rest of the fish went to the fishermen to enjoy at home, one snapper would make a reappearance the following day. For lunch, I enjoyed the red snapper, grilled to perfection and sliced raw into sashimi.

While the Maldives is renowned as a romantic, luxurious destination where people can enjoy the sunshine, soft white sand and gentle lapping turquoise waters, it’s also packed with history and culture. While everyone should spend some time relaxing at the beach , the atoll nation offers way more for travelers to do – and learn more about life in the Maldives.

Like most things in the Maldives, most activities are unfortunately pricey, especially since booking through a resort is pretty much your only option.

Long-line fishing is just the beginning. Here are eight other activities in the Maldives beyond simply lounging on the beach.

Go fish, Maldivian-style

Sunset fishing was hands-down my favorite excursion in the Maldives. Watching the fishermen in action was exhilarating, even though I couldn’t get the long line fishing down myself. Partaking in the ancient fishing tradition was a peek into real Maldivian life – and against the most gorgeous of backdrops: the sun setting over the ocean. To pick which fish to eat the next day and how it would be prepared made the experience extra rewarding.

Check out the marine life

The Maldives is rich in marine biodiversity. Guests can snorkel and dive with whale sharks in southern waters and alongside manta rays in the north. At Sun Siyam Iru Veli, I went on an afternoon snorkeling tour, a 20-minute boat ride from the resort, and swam along the reef, an uninhabited island. Dropping about 100 feet, the reef was overflowing with marine life. I spotted a plethora of tropical reef fish along with three Hawksbill turtles – the most common type in the Maldives – and a white-tip reef shark.

Even on resort grounds, travelers have plenty of opportunities to easily witness marine life – I spotted a pod of dolphins swim past me on my sunset fishing excursion and baby reef sharks around the shoreline by my villa at Sun Siyam Iru Veli in the mornings.

Are there blind scuba divers? Here's the accessible way anyone can explore the ocean.

Explore the ocean … at night

Most resorts in the Maldives also have a house reef, where colorful clownfish and triggerfish swim around anemones and soft coral. At Sun Siyam Iru Fushi , guests can request a nighttime snorkeling activity, where they dive in after the sun sets to see the reef in another light, literally.

The gear was simple. I slipped an orange filter over my snorkel mask, secured with a band, to eliminate the fluorescence caused by my blue light flashlight. This light source would make all the difference, as the soft coral and anemones absorbed the blue light, casting neon greens and reds back. The bright red anemones swayed in the dark and soft coral glowed, showcasing intricate brain-like textures and patterns not noticeable in daylight.

Help restore some coral

Coral reefs play a critical role in the very existence of the Maldives; without them, the islands would be damaged by strong waves. Maldivians also rely on the fish from reefs for their livelihoods. Guests can participate in coral restoration alongside on-staff marine biologists at multiple Sun Siyam Resorts with coral planting. In this activity, I fastened coral fragments to a metal frame that’s later placed in the ocean to hopefully regrow and thrive.

Visit a local island

Sun Siyam Resorts offers travelers the chance to get off the resort island and witness everyday life for Maldivians. Guests can sign up for a local island tour, which takes them to a local fishing village to meet community members and see the school and local shops. I went on a local farm tour, where I got to see how some of the produce, such as papaya, that’s served in the resorts are grown.

Watersports galore

In the Maldives, the ocean is the main attraction. Siyam World Maldives way offers more than the typical jet skis, paddleboards and kayaks. Guests of all ages can clamber around on the Indian Ocean’s biggest floating waterpark, made up of inflatable obstacles. There are also electric surfboards, kite surfing, banana boats and underwater jetpacks. I rented a seabob, a diving scooter that let me glide up and down underwater like a dolphin at up to 13 miles per hour. It was a strange sensation, but definitely took snorkeling to the next level.

Visit an uninhabited private island

Over 83% of the Maldives’ 1,192 islands are uninhabited, allowing travelers to bask in unspoiled tropical landscapes. At Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, I was able to enjoy untouched nature and be the only present human there. Sun Siyam Iru Fushi and its sister resort, Siyam World, also share a small private island where only palm trees exist (and a restroom facility, so don’t worry about that). Guests can book the private island for picnics and photoshoots, which willand it’ll be exclusively theirs for the entire time. During the picnic, staff set up a tent for respite from the afternoon sun and served lunch and even champagne. No roughing it here.

Learn more about Maldivian culture

Every Friday night at Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, Maldivian staff share a piece of their culture with guests through traditional song and dance – of course, guests are invited to learn the dance, too. In Boduberu , dancers move energetically to the beat of coconut drums and folk singing. The dancing style is said to have come from African sailors who reached the Maldives many centuries ago, and is typically performed at special occasions and celebrations. The resort also offers cooking classes, where guests can learn how to make traditional Maldivian dishes, and free workshops such as making your own coconut oil, a staple product for cooking in the country.

Maldives – Paradise Of The Modern World

10 luxury resorts in Maldives

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Luminous blue waters engulf a vast collection of islands, each one boasting with unadulterated coastal perfection that lures sea wanderers into its sugar-white shores. The postcard-perfect backdrop is where man and nature coexist: majestic marine wonders and swanky beach villas spread on the atolls, indulging the contemporary mermaids in an extraordinary holiday. While many itineraries already exist across its islands, newer and refreshed destinations hold much promise to the modern wanderer. Below are ten of the most recent luxury resorts in the Maldives, each bearing a unique flavour and all the goodness the country has to offer.

Indian Ocean’s prized possession has always belonged to everyone’s bucket list long before it became an Instagram hashtag. The dreams about it are true: a genuine island getaway without a drought of extravagance, where thickets of palm trees sway at the humid breeze, dancing in the cadence of laidback reggae music accompanied by the fervent lapping of the waves. Far-flung alcoves and contemporary beach houses float atop the sapphire-coloured waters, each calling out for a pleasurable dip. Marine marvels thrive underneath the surface, peeping shyly for company. Coral reefs glisten under the sea-deep sun with their spectrum of colours. Even a quiet stroll on its powdery sand is already pure leisure.

The Garland Islands, home to a thousand and two hundred keys, are cradled by the hands of an eternal summer and a cheerful temperament. Sun-kissed locals exhibit the same warmth as they greet with a merry, “Asalam Alekum” with affectionate smiles. Blue becomes the prominent colour of the horizon. Every angle, picture-perfect. Every scenery, sublime. There is no right or wrong answer to enjoying Maldives , but the best way to bask in the country’s best gifts depends on where to stay.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Undeniably Opulent

When seen from above, the island of Male brims with a coagulation of buildings topped with bright colours and occasionally, a scattering of verdant trees that adds a vibrant tone amidst the cyan pools that surrounded its edges. Maldives’ bustling capital, a quirky hive that offers in itself many wondrous landmarks, becomes a temporary pitstop to the many luxury retreats isolated from the crowd. Speedboat and seaplanes are the only reasonable means to access the remote water villas scattered among the garland islands, each of them bearing beyond extravagant facilities to suit its VIP crowd.

True to its name, LUX* North Male Atoll is lodged at the very top of Male, right inside the heart of Olhuhali. The yacht-inspired architecture breaks out from the usual thatch-roofed mould constantly seen in many of Maldives properties, emulating the spirit of Miami by the ocean. Its sea-strung villas are handsomely painted in pure white, each armed with its private pool and sun deck, while its interiors are imbibed with all sorts of comforts. Undeniably chic, the resort allures with its in-house sauna, an overwater spa, and six glass-encased villas that allow restful viewing of marine life. Water sports, of course, are at the core of its facilities, but for the laidback, the LUX* offers creative classes to enjoy, such as cooking, photography, and art.

Coastal opulence is the heart of Raffles Maldives Meradhoo , a collection of beach villas that drape the GaafulAlifu Atoll. Suites echo the same blue, wood and white palette, each one embellished with posh furniture and large square windows that allow generous views of the turquoise waters. At sunrise, feast on the all-day meals at Thari, but sunsets are best enjoyed at Yapa, an overwater bar that serves drinks native to South America. Butlers become close companions to extended diving trips, furnishing every request small or great.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Real Romantics

Sunsets sandwiched in the sky and sea, the latter reflecting deliriously bright colours before it completely dims out into the starry night. The fairy-tale atmosphere of Maldives has long been sought after by the lovers and romanticists, the poets and the artists, those who find delight at nature’s varying hues. Honeymooners find their way here – many, leaving their heart on the powdery sand, with goals of returning to the same whimsical feeling where their heart skipped a beat at the sight of their first love.

Romance is Joali , a multi-million-dollar resort constructed by more than 900 craftsmen into a whimsical masterpiece set in the island of Muravhandoo. The woodwork and the sensual interiors are exquisitely paired with contemporary art from famous names – Porky Hefer, FeleksanOnar, and SeckinPirim, among the few – making this location a true feast in the eyes and heart.

Villas are grounded to their Maldivian roots. Thatched roofs and lofty ceilings are robed in easy-on-the-eye motifs, along with the posh interiors from the Turkish firm Autoban. From outside, the resort stretches into a brocade of beach villas looped together by long wooden bridges. A long walk, or a more convenient ride on a dhoni, leads back to the main island which houses the rest of its facilities: a dive centre, outdoor studio and a cluster of dining spots. Dinners are served by the beach where clusters of festoon bulbs light the place, making evenings more romantic at the dazzling vista of the frothy waves.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

The tranquil landscapes of The Residence Maldives

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The swoony magnificence of Kudadoo sets lovers into a spiral of breath-taking nature-grounded intimacy. The meditative Eden is tucked in an island within Lhaviyani Atoll, accessed by a 40-minute seaplane ride. Designed by Yuju Yamazaki, the resort is a pure visual stunner. Fifteen bungalows are perched on a large wooden plate, all raised above the waters by pillars of stilts. Surrounded by pristine waters and enclosed in a stunning backdrop, one can only fall in love at the beauty of nature. Despite its architectural allure, Kudadoo gives back to the environment. 900 solar panels sit atop the huts, allowing the entire adult-only venue to run completely on solar energy. Lavishly ornate and sustainably constructed, the Kudadoo indulges with its many facilities, including a golf course, a wine-stocked bar, its very own nightclub and a healing Himalayan salt chamber.

One of Maldives’ prime locations is the garden embroidered GaafuAlifu Atoll, home to The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah , a swanky contemporary Maldivian resort spread across two kilometres of fine white sand and aquamarine waters. Here, villas are perched in quiet isolation where couples can engage in romantic castaway opportunities, not one of Robinson Crusoe, but an indulgent spa experience or the sighting of baby black-tipped sharks, amicably swimming under the luminous blue surface. Saying “I do” is best underwater, where ceremonies are made beneath the waves and into the solemnity of the sea.

A long stretch of bridge connects the resort to its sister resort, The Residence Maldives at Falhumaafushi, where bike rides by the sea breeze becomes a perfect way to stroll. This bridge allows access to facilities across both islands. Guests can enjoy dining at Li Bai which offers contemporary Cantonese cuisine and delight in sunset cocktails at Long Island.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Beyond the Beach

Maldives is the earth’s deepest kiss on the waters, the lowest in elevation among the world. Its proximity to the ocean opened experiences that could not be found anywhere else. Whale spotters wander off into the southern atolls, snorkellers dip headway underneath to see marine biodiversity unique to the region. Charming dolphins adorably swims through the surface, while scuba divers can admire the spectrum of reefs. For the adventurers keen to uncover Maldives’ purest beauty, beyond the beach and into the ocean’s navel is the best way to go.

Spanning across three islands, the Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi is a celebration of what the atolls are for: idyllic villas, places for pampering, a spread of dining venues and a myriad of water activities that connect one to the heart of the ocean. The resort’s own PADI dive centre offers guided diving, windsurfing, sailing, and fishing. Kids, on the other hand, are kept busy at their own water-inspired venue – the Waldorf Astoria Young Discovery Park. Hunger is quelled through the 11 restaurants that challenge the palette to uncover new tastes, from Middle Eastern cuisines to popular Asian gastronomic favourites. Terra, a fresh treetop dining concept, is quirkily separated by nests and presents a breath-taking view of the ocean at various angles.

Another dreamy escape is The Nautilus Maldives , perched at the northeast side of the Baa Atoll and surrounded by a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. From Male, the seaplane lands after 30 minutes of flight, during which one can admire the gorgeous mosaics of shallow lagoons and deep blue waters from underneath. Down the banks, the white sand retreat welcomes with its palm-fringed, thatched pavilion. Enthusiastic adventurers will find their bespoke adventures at the aid of their butler, who would eagerly recommend various activities as one prefers, from island hopping, deep-sea fishing, or cruising with the dolphins.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Coastal luxury shines in Fairmont Maldives’ interiors

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Contrasting its Maldivian exterior, Nautilus Maldives’ rooms are decorated with a coastal mid-century appeal; a stretch of plush couches, vibrant-hued wooden furniture and wide-open doors that congenially invite the tropical sun in. Overwater villas have a bonus; the floors are made of glass, instantly giving one a peek into the coral reefs and small fishes thriving under the stilts.

Sparkling white beaches gather around Fairmont Sirru Fen Fushi , an hour seaplane flight from the capital Male. The long journey includes jaw-dropping sights of the Shaviyani Atoll from above, where the horizon dazzles with fresh new reefs and luminous blue waters that glimmer under the sun. The resort itself is a swirling vista of ocean villas, connected at the tip of its small island. Contemporary Maldives is the theme of each room, robed with plush crochet rugs, macramé and glass chandeliers. Extending over a kilometre long, Fairmont Maldives occupies enough grounds to get lost in, and to enjoy various activities, including the Willow Stream Spa, photography studios, and a 200-metre long swimming pool. The biggest attraction, however, is the waters itself. Underneath the bright cyan surface are schools of orange clownfish, red tigerfish, and an occasional spotting of green turtles. The family-friendly resort also comes with its own kids’ club and teenage lounge, because age matters in every kind of fun.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Taste of the New Wave

With its many upscale resorts, one would think Maldives would settle down. But there is no stopping on experiencing extravagance; after all, with a thousand and two hundred islands, there is always space for luxury.

The 250-acre long Fasmendhoo lends a sense of whimsy to Emerald Maldives which occupies the private island with thatched-roofed pavilions, towering palm gardens and a stretch of stilted bungalows that drape the turquoise beach. Set to open in August, the modern island resort is packed with four upscale restaurants quenching a variety of palettes, from the South American-inspired Amazònico, the live cooking teppanyaki showcase at Le Asiatic, and international al fresco beach dining, Aqua. Traditional Thai and Indonesian massage specialists preside over its exclusive spa, offering traditional treatments for a holistically revitalising holiday. And, not forgetting the children, the resort has installed a large outdoor playground, The Dolphin Club, to cater to the little ones’ jungle-and-seaside dreams.

Atop a seaplane, Raa Atoll glimmers with speckles of light on its jewelled blue lagoons while heading to the Intercontinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort . Sleek Maldivian huts are laced together by a slithering wooden bridge, looking as if it was perfectly hewn on the water. Blessed with a bounty of manta rays swimming within the proximity, the resort, set to open on 1st September, is more than an indulgent island escape, but a chance to open the ocean’s sacred chest and peek into its many wonders with home to manta sanctuary right in the Resort’s own lagoon. A trip into Hanifaru Bay becomes an opportunity to swim with grey sharks and stingrays. One can even adopt their own manta.

With a grounded sense of escapism, Intercontinental Maldives sets itself apart with its exclusive Fish Market, offering the day’s fresh catch from its charming pier. Along its sandy paths is a Lighthouse, a dinner-only dining menu serving Mediterranean cuisines while enjoying drinks at the highest peak on the island with 360-ocean vistas.

Above the surface, Maldives is a breath-taking wonder, enthralling with man-made architecture that seamlessly marries into the sapphire waters and glittery white sand. But more than an Instagram-able destination or an essential luxury joint, there are many more sides to Indian Ocean’s best gift – most of them, beyond its visual appeal. Underneath its surface is an untouched paradise that thrives with breathing gems, a peek into the liquid curtain where many of the earth’s majestic creatures thrive. Waiting by the shore is an affectionate community of sun-kissed locals, courteously responding to every beck and call, eager to please and thrilled to satisfy. Maldives, thus, is best embraced for its entirety: the character, the culture, the humid air, the glorious beach. It is an indulgent discovery that fills the heart and heals the soul, a euphoria to be savoured.

Alexander Rappoport’s caviar-heavy brasserie

maldives travel magazine

The lavish setting of this must-visit inside the Hotel National is entirely appropriate. With furnishings such as the majestic chandeliers and views out across Moscow’s historic rooftops – including the Kremlin – as the backdrop, Beluga’s dining room is the place to enjoy an unprecedented 24 varieties of caviar. You can sample this delicacy in a tasting menu, or in sandwiches. Aside from caviar, the restaurant is not exactly lacking in its other dishes: try the vinegret salad and Sosva herring or the Kiev cutlet mixed into tantalising ice cream.

Maldives anticipates robust tourism growth in 2024: MATATO reveals forecast

Book Your All Inclusive Vacation and save 25% in Atmosphere Hotels and Resorts, Maldives

18 December, 2023

Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has unveiled its tourist arrival forecast for the year 2024, revealing a promising outlook for the tourism industry. According to MATATO’s comprehensive analysis of prevailing trends, the Maldives is expected to welcome a staggering 2.01 million tourists in 2024, marking a substantial 7.9% increase compared to the projected arrivals in 2023.

Several factors are set to propel the Maldives’ tourism sector to new heights in 2024:

  • Resurgence of the Chinese Market:  The anticipated resurgence of the Chinese market is poised to be a pivotal factor driving increased tourism to the Maldives.
  • Opening of New Tourist Establishments:  The introduction of new tourist establishments is expected to diversify offerings, attracting a broader range of visitors seeking unique and immersive experiences.
  • Completion of Velana International Airport (VIA) Terminal:  The imminent completion of the new terminal at Velana International Airport will significantly enhance airport capacity, facilitating a larger influx of tourists.
  • Sustained Demand for Luxury Travel:  The persistent demand for luxury travel experiences is projected to contribute significantly to the overall growth of the tourism industry.
  • Rising Popularity for Destination Weddings and Honeymoons:  The Maldives’ increasing popularity as a destination for weddings and honeymoons is expected to be a driving force in attracting tourists seeking romantic and picturesque settings.

The forecast predicts the following regional distribution of tourist arrivals:

  • Asia: 1.2 million arrivals (60%)
  • Europe: 400,000 arrivals (20%)
  • America: 200,000 arrivals (10%)
  • Others: 210,000 arrivals (10%)

MATATO’s forecast is based on a meticulous analysis that draws from data over the past three years, the Airports Council International (ACI) 2024 forecast, the November forecast from the Finance Ministry of the Maldives, Booking.com Travel Predictions 2024, PwC’s latest UK consumer sentiment survey, and insights from an AI forecaster.

While the outlook is optimistic, potential risks include:

  • Global Economic Downturn:  A global economic downturn could pose challenges to the anticipated growth.
  • Rise in Travel Costs:  Escalating travel costs might impact the enthusiasm of potential travelers.
  • Political Instability:  Ongoing political instability and conflicts globally could also influence the tourism industry.

The overall outlook for the Maldives’ tourism industry in 2024 is optimistic, with a strong surge in tourist arrivals expected. However, the industry stakeholders and authorities must remain vigilant, considering the potential risks that could influence the trajectory of the industry. The Maldives continues to position itself as a premier destination, offering a diverse range of experiences to cater to the evolving preferences of global travelers.

Moscow airline passengers to be express tested for covid-19.

maldives travel magazine

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Express COVID-19 testing will be available for some passengers at Russia’s busiest airport from Monday as part of a pilot project aimed at allowing air travel and tourism to resume safely.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport said the diagnostic tests, which give results in one hour, would be available for all passengers on domestic flights at Terminal B on Monday, as part of a wider plan to create coronavirus-free airport hubs.

The portable testing system, which fits in two small suitcases, is already used at production sites by some Russian companies and was deployed at Russia’s World War Two Victory Day military parade, held on June 24, the RDIF said.

“If you’re at an airport and you need to be tested for three hours, this is not a workable solution,” RDIF head Kirill Dmitriev told Reuters in an interview last week, adding the project aims to provide test results “within an hour”.

“We are doing a pilot in an airport in Japan and in Moscow, Sheremetyevo, and in an airport in the United Arab Emirates.”

Russia has not yet confirmed the date that international flights will return, with restrictions in place for many people travelling in and out of the country. But the RDIF said express coronavirus testing would be available from July 27 for domestic and international flights at Sheremetyevo’s Terminal D.

Those behind the project are hopeful that a successful trial could set an example for other major airports worldwide and allow tourism to return while ensuring passenger safety.

Russia has the world’s fourth-highest number of novel coronavirus cases at 777,486. It says 12,427 people have died from the virus.

Emirates undertakes largest known fleet retrofit project

maldives travel magazine

Emirates has kick-started its plans to upgrade the entire interior cabins of 120 Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft – two of the largest commercial aircraft types in service today.

This ambitious project, representing a multi-billion dollar investment to ensure Emirates’ customers “fly better” for the coming years, officially commences in November and is managed entirely by Emirates’ Engineering team.

The target is to completely retrofit four Emirates aircraft from start to finish every month, continuously for over 2 years. Once the 67 earmarked A380s are refreshed and back in service, 53 777s will undergo their facelift. This will see nearly 4,000 brand new Premium Economy seats installed, 728 First Class suites refurbished and over 5,000 Business Class seats upgraded to a new style and design when the project is complete in April 2025.

In addition, carpets and stairs will be upgraded, and cabin interior panels refreshed with new tones and design motifs including the iconic ghaf trees which are native to the UAE.

maldives travel magazine

No other airline has handled a retrofit of this magnitude in-house, and there’s no blueprint for such an undertaking. Therefore Emirates Engineering teams have been planning and testing extensively, to establish and streamline processes, and identify and address any possible snags.

Trials began on an A380 in July, where experienced engineers literally took each cabin apart piece-by-piece and logged every step. From removing seats and panelling to bolts and screws, every action was tested, timed and mapped out. Potential impediments to completing the installation of Emirates’ new Premium Economy Class or the retrofit of the remaining three cabins in just 16 days were flagged and documented for expert teams to review and address.

As part of the programme, new purpose-built workshops will be set up at Emirates Engineering to repaint, re-trim and re-upholster Business and Economy Class seats with new covers and cushioning. First Class suites will be carefully disassembled and sent to a specialised company to replace the leather, arm rests and other materials.

From the trials, Engineers discovered several unexpected solutions for instance: that existing food catering trucks could be easily repurposed to move parts destined for refurbishment from the aircraft to the workshop for their refresh, as these vehicles had doors of the right width and offer sufficient space.

Until the retrofit programme starts in earnest in November, a cross-disciplinary team has been assembled to regularly review the planning process, address any issues, and track updates on various aspects of the project such as procurement, staffing, and training.

Emirates’ new Premium Economy cabin class, which offers luxurious seats, more legroom, and a service to rival many airlines’ business offering, is currently available to Emirates customers travelling on popular A380 routes to London, Paris, Sydney. More customers will be able to experience the airline’s new Premium Economy cabins starting from year end, as the retrofit programme picks up momentum.

Eleanor helps over 30 Maldives hotels elevate guest services

maldives travel magazine

Eleanor has been named as one of the top 10 concierge software providers globally.

Based on accurate, timely reviews from real users, the HotelTechAwards rank the world’s best hotel software firms and products and it also provides hoteliers direct access to a growing network of hotel technology professionals and decision-makers.

“The guest experience is the cornerstone of our platform. Our unified resort wide solution, Eleanor, has been built for resorts off the back of many years working in the industry and addresses the needs of both Sales and Marketing departments and perhaps just as importantly, the operational requirements of the team on the ground at the property. The days of resorts working with disjointed systems are now behind us,” says Darren Caple, co-founder and CEO.

“We are on a mission to make the guest’s resort experience as easy and as frictionless as possible. Whereas traditional providers in the market have come at this purely from a guest communication perspective, our background in resorts has allowed us to combine this basic requirement with the streamlining of operational processes. The result is truly a resort wide solution that removes the need for countless different systems to be deployed.

Eleanor allows resorts to deliver consistent, superior service levels to guests across all stages of their journey with contactless features helping to alleviate sensitive touch-points in the post pandemic period. More than 30 properties in the Maldives use our Eleanor platform to help butlers and guest services elevate the guest experience. These properties are seeing an increase in incremental revenue by over 30% and operational efficiencies of 600+ man hours per month. We are also beginning to roll out the platform in some Caribbean properties!”

Eleanor is making waves in the hospitality industry by pushing the conventional limits of what a resort guest app can achieve through its unique ability to facilitate direct bookings for services and activities. The traditional ‘request to book’ feature that is common amongst almost all other hotel apps is removed by a power booking and operational platform sitting at the heart of the solution that covers all the resorts’ departments. It’s this module which realises enormous operational benefits and insights for the resort.

“We, at Eleanor, are humbled and honoured that our clients have provided such positive reviews. Feedback from our clients, partners and hoteliers are incredibly valuable for us and we will continue to improve our offering and services”, said Caple.

To celebrate this success, Eleanor is currently offering resorts a free one month trial, together with free setup and training and discounted monthly fees.

Eleanor, founded in 2018 and has its headquarters in the United Kingdom. Created from over 15 years of hands-on expertise, Eleanor allows resorts to deliver consistent, superior service levels to its guests across all stages of their journey with contactless features helping to alleviate sensitive touch-points in the post pandemic period. Eleanor also helps to unlock operational efficiencies and boost incremental revenue and guest loyalty.
