Great experience. Probably one of the best of my life. Very well organized especially by our tour guide and his whole crew. The planning done by them was very good. Great accommodations. Good bikes. Very helpful throughout the trip whenever required. Proper instructions were given throughout. all are well managed.😍😍

Not any problem occurred during the trip. Thanks ! Banbanjara

wonderful trip

I have always been a solo rider. Traveling in a group was so much fun, having a backup vehicle made things even better. All the hotels and meals being booked made my life easier and of course - all the great friends I have made - were the cherry on the cake :) it's a nice time spending for me.

To start with I had the most adventurous ride of a lifetime. A bike trip allows you to experience the best just in front of your eyes and Manali to Leh was one of my dream destinations. The word that follows will be a huge WOW. I went with my 2 friends and once we reached there we were provided with our bikes. Another best thing was that the fuel was included in the package. This is a must-trip for the bikers.

Deepak Kaul

The trip sure will test your resolve and character as challenges on and off the road, altitude sickness, scarcity of your conventional food, etc. But once past that the memories you make are pure and will last for life! I sincerely feel relieved to take the trip through Banbanjara and not attempt a solo ride on our own. This trip is for those who are willing to push themselves a bit extra to experience the Adventure of a Lifetime!!

Vikrant Pratap

Fabulous, awesome, great, thrilling, exciting, perfect. None of them can express it. You need to experience it to feel it and all this because of the management of Banbanjara. I went with my wife and the trip turned out to be memories that can be cherished for a lifetime. Thanks, to everyone once again.🥰🥰

The way they have taken care of each and every individual on board is remarkable and outstanding. the team was well prepared for any kind of situation. "\"PURE BLISS!!\" One of the most memorable trips of my life. \"Must do\" trip for each youngster.. it was a very well-managed trip by Banbanjara in association with the operator. I was a solo Traveller for this trip.. but let me tell u, I never felt the discomfort of being a solo girl Traveller on this trip. they took good care of each one of us.

Manali to Leh Cycle Trip Itinerary

So we will begin this expedition from Manali and ride our way till Leh. Our route will be:

Manali ⮕ Kothi ⮕ Marhi ⮕ Sissu ⮕ Darcha ⮕ Zing Zing Bar ⮕ Sarchu ⮕ Whiskey Nallah ⮕ Pang ⮕ Debring ⮕ Upshi ⮕ Leh

Day 0 • Acclimatize at Manali (2,050 m)

Keep a day to yourself to acclimatize well to the altitude. Ride around the Manali town, meet locals, have conversations, try out local markets, enjoy the day to yourself and prepare yourself for the next day. Acclimatization is vital because most of us are from plains, so we are not used to high altitudes. Give your body some time to get accustomed to it, and see how it feels to ride a cycle.

Acclimatization : When visiting the Himalayas, many of us overlook the high altitude and just focus on the breathtaking panoramas. Leh and most of Ladakh are located above 10,000 feet in elevation. As a result, tourists may experience dizziness, headaches, or even acute mountain sickness (AMS). So it is extremely important to take it slowly to permit your body to acclimatize to the high altitude and low oxygen saturation.

Day 1 • Manali to Kothi (2,500 m)

Manali to Kothi is about 14 km. However, it can take longer than expected to reach Kothi because of constant traffic along the route. The route goes through lush green valleys and panoramic views of the mountains. The road is very well maintained and you will also come across dhabas and restaurants along the route.

It is best if you have pre-booking at a guesthouse or hotel because during peak times it is very difficult to get an on-spot booking. Also, Kothi has relatively fewer options for accommodation.

Day 2 • Kothi to Marhi (3,360 m)

Kothi to Marhi is a 21 km ride through a series of loops and bends to pass the picturesque villages on your way to a beautiful gem called Marhi. On the way to Marhi you will also witness a spectacular view of the Pir Panjal mountain range.

A few temporary accommodations are available at Marhi.

Day 3 • Marhi to Sissu (3,120 m) via Rohtang pass (3,978 m)

Marhi to Sissu is a long 53 km ride via the famous Rohtang pass. This one is going to be particularly tiring because of uphill ride till Rohtang pass at 3,978 m altitude. The altitude offers a breathtaking perspective of Lahaul’s snow-capped mountains. It’s a lot of fun to cycle downhill from Rohtang. The road takes you along river Chandra all the way to Sissu. And then call it a day with a hot meal and a night of peaceful sleep.

Also, keep your oxygen cylinders handy while you cross Rohtang pass and the altitude rises steeply from Marhi to Rohtang pass.

Accommodations are pretty well maintained and standard at Sissu.

Day 4 • Sissu to Darcha (3,360 m)

It’s a 62 km ride from Sissu to Darcha but mostly gradual uphill and downhill. Today we ride our way to Darcha along Bhaga river. You can also relax and spend some time as you enjoy your lunch in Keylong or Jispa. Keylong and jispa have plenty of options for food.

As you reach Darcha you will find a couple of dhabas where you can stay for the night and sign off for the day with a hot meal. And get ready for the next day’s adventure.

Day 5 • Darcha to Zing Zing Bar (4,270)

First of all, before starting your day make sure you pack food and enough water for the day because there’s a scarcity of dhabas until Zing Zing bar. Today is gonna be more thrilling as you ride uphill from 3,360 m to 4,270 m altitude. Stay hydrated and save your energy.

The oxygen level at Zing Zing Bar is also very low. At Zing Zing bar you can find a handful of temporary accommodations and dormitories.

Day 6 • Zing Zing Bar to Sarchu (4,290 m) via Baralach La Pass (4,850 m)

Start early for the day, no later than 6:30 AM to cross the streams at Bharatpur before noon while its still frozen. As today is going to be a tiring day, both for you and your bicycle, make sure your cycle is in good condition. There’s a mechanic 2 km ahead of Zing Zing bar where you can repair falt tyres and basic issues.

After the steep rise till Baralach La pass, cycling down from Baralach La is a pleasant break, but the roads are not smooth. The day comes to a close in Sarchu Plains.

Day 7 • Sarchu to Whiskey Nallah (4,600 m)

Today we begin the zigzag ride up the 21 hairpin bends of Gatta Loops on our way to Nakeela Pass situated at 4,600 m altitude. Enjoy the stunning views and let them freshen you up as you find your way to Whisky Nallah.

Bear in mind this is the desert region of Ladakh, so take special care of your health. Tips are to stay hydrated always! And start early for the day because sun gets really strong as the day passes.

Day 8 • Whiskey Nallah to Pang (4,700 m) via Lachalung La Pass (5,065 m)

One of the most rewarding days of our tour is today. But before that serene view of Pang Tso welcomes you, you have to first cross the Lachalung La pass at 5,065 m. Whiskey Nala to Lachang La is easy 7 km uphill. Lachang La to Pang is a breathtaking 25 km downhill ride that offers absolutely gorgeous views.

The smooth wide road makes the ride super relaxing and refreshing. Finish off your ride at Pang where you can easily find hotels and temporary settlements.

Day 9 • Pang to Debring (4,835 m)

Before starting the day, get your food packed because you won’t find any dhabas between Pang and Debring. From Pang, a 7-kilometer steep ascent takes you to the Morey Plains. The Moray Plains are expanse of plains with an average height of 4800 metres. The section boasts some of the most breathtaking scenery and is surrounded on both sides by magnificent mountains and rock formations.

Get prepared for Tanglang La pass the next day, the highest mountain pass in this route.

Day 10 • Debring to Upshi (3,480 m) via Tanglang La pass (5,359 m)

It’s a long journey from Debring to Upshi, approximately 75 km. The first 12 km is easy comparatively, the next 8 km to the top of Tanglang La pass is full of struggle. However, the breathtaking view from the top is all worth it. The famous Zanskar mountain range on one side and the mighty Ladakh range on the other side. The Taglung La is marked by a Buddhist chorten (reliquary monument) and prayer flags that sets up the mood all over again.

Many riders prefer to stay at Rumptse, the very next village after Tanglang La pass because of the tiring day. But we would recommend Upshi for the stay, because otherwise its going to be a really long 91 km the next day. And also, the ride till Upshi is mostly soothing and easy.

You will find plenty of staying options starting from homestays to motels. There’s also a main market at Upshi, spare some time to pay a visit to the market and blend in with the locals.

Day 11 • Upshi to Leh (3,524 m)

And here we are already on the last day of the most memorable expedition of our life ever. Upshi to Leh is 47 km via fertile mesmerizing valleys of Leh, a number of small stupas and monasteries. The most famous and largest of them all is the Hemis and Thiksey monastery.

Finding accommodation and dhabas is not an issue at Leh. And do not forget to visit the beautiful Leh market before you sign off for the day.

Over the past decade, there has been a big surge in the number of travelers visiting the unexplored regions in the Northern Himalayas. Out of all the relatively new Himalayan Destinations, Ladakh has become the most visited over the last few years. Travelling to Ladakh by road has become one of the most sought after road trips in the country. Adventure lovers from all over the world visit this ‘Land of High Passes’ during the period between June to September. Although Leh, the biggest city in Ladakh, has a well-connected airport, the majority of the people prefer to travel to Ladakh by road. In fact, Manali Leh Manali Bike Tour has given a whole new definition to motorcycling in India .

As suggested by the name, Manali Leh Manali Bike Tour starts from the bustling tourist town of Manali. Riders coming through Delhi can take an overnight bus to reach Manali and then spend a day getting acclimatized to the altitude. Although the distance between Manali and Leh is a mere 472km, it takes three days to reach as one has to acclimatize by taking a couple of halts in places such as Jispa and Sarchu. The primary reason motorcycle enthusiasts do this trip is the fact that it comes with various challenges such as unpredictable weather and slushy dirt tracks. The 11-day motorbike trip to Ladakh  offers a tonne of adventures such as crossing few of the highest motorable roads in the world and camping in vastly remote places.

Detailed Itinerary: Day 00: Delhi(321m) to Manali | 530km (Volvo tickets not included) Arrive in Delhi on your own and in the evening, board an overnight bus to Manali. The location/time regarding the bus is going to be provided in advance.  Day 01: Arrival in Manali(2050m)   Altitude Gain - 1729m Highlights - Orientation, Manali Exploration Arrive in Manali in the morning and meet the Adventure Nation team at the pre-booked hotel. After resting for some time, be available to attend the orientation session conducted by our on-ground team. Later in the afternoon, you can go for manali . The popular places to explore in Manali are Hadimba Temple, Vashisht Village, Mall road, Old Manali lane, etc. You have the liberty to visit places of your own choice. Later, have dinner at the hotel and stay overnight. Day 02: Manali to Jispa(3200m) | 140km      Grade/Duration - Moderate/Approx. 8 Hours Altitude Gain - 1150m Highlights - Atal tunnel, Keylong. Today, we are going to start our Ladakh expedition by riding towards Jispa on the much-celebrated Manali-Leh Highway. On The Way, You Will Pass Atal tunnel, Tandi (Last Petrol Pump Before Upshi) And Keylong. We continue the ride towards Jispa crossing the quaint mountain towns of Sissu and Keylong. Arrive at the destination early in the evening and have an adventurous overnight stay in tents. Day 03: Jispa to Padum (3669m) | 140km      Grade/Duration - Difficult/Approx. 7 Hours Altitude Gain - 469m Highlights - Shinku La, Phuktal Gompa, Riding along Tsarap River Keep yourself completely hydrated by drinking a tonne of water as we are going to spend the night at a relatively high altitude. Today’s ride is one of the shortest rides of the expedition but the adrenaline level remains high as the terrain is full of adventure. We shall be riding on the relativey new Lahaul-Zanskar road via Shinku La. The ride is trecherous but filled with stunning landscapes. We shall be witnessing the magnificent Mt. Gumbo and would have fun-filled river crossings. If time permits, we shall go for a short hike to the Phuktal Gompa. Arrive at Padum later in the day and be prepared for a rather adventurous overnight stay in a tent. Day 04: Padum to Kargil (2676m) | 240km      Grade/Duration - Difficult/Approx. 8 Hours Altitude Loss - 993m Highlights - Off-roading trails, Scenic ride Start riding after an early breakfast as today’s going to be a long but exciting day of riding. Water-Crossings are a common sight on the road while riding to Kargil and the ideal time to cross them is early in the day. The ride is going to be a long, and umcortable at times, but full of scenic landscapes all through. Arrive in Kargil after riding through the day and check-in at the hotel. Stay overnight. Day 05: Kargil to Leh(3500m) | 220km Grade/Duration - ModerateApprox. 6 Hours Altitude Gain- 824m Highlights - Namika La, Fotu La, Lamayuru Monastery, Today’s ride is going to be comparatively more comfortable as the roads between Kargil and Leh are relatively decent. We again start early in the morning from the hotel and soon after riding for a couple hours, we are going to cross two high passes known as Namika La(3700m) and Fotu La(4108m). Both of these passes are located in the Zanskar region. Another two hours of riding takes us to Lamayuru, which is home to the highest located monastery in the region. Not that the journey until Lamayuru is boring, but the landscape after crossing the village is extraordinary. We continue to ride towards Leh through a spectacular moonscape and reach our destination in the evening. After arriving in the biggest city in Ladakh, check into the hotel and rest for a while. Later, if time permits, you may go out and take a stroll in the Leh market. Stay overnight. Day 06: Leh to Nubra (3048m) | 160km      Grade/Duration - Difficult/Approx. 7 Hours Altitude Loss - 452m Highlights - Khardung La, Diskit Monastery After a rather relaxed day in Leh, we continue our expedition and start riding towards Nubra Valley through what’s considered the highest motorable road in the world i.e. Khardung La(5359m). The road towards the pass is well paved and tarred till the checkpoint near South Pullu and after crossing the checkpoint, the road starts to get slushy with loose rocks on one side. Get yourself clicked after reaching Khardung La and hit the road quickly as it is not safe to spend much time on top of the pass due to the high altitude and thin air. We stop for a quick lunch after climbing down from the pass and then continue our journey. After riding for another couple of hours, we make a brief stop to visit the 32m high Maitreya Buddha statue in Diskit Monastery. Our arrival in the valley will be welcomed by the white sand dunes and the sightings of the double-hump Bactrian camels grazing. Stay overnight at the hotel/campsite. Day 07: Nubra to Pangong(4250m) | 260km      Grade/Duration - Difficult/Approx. 8 Hours Altitude Gain -1202m Highlights - Riding along Shyok River, Water Crossings  After having breakfast, we start riding towards the most photographed destination in Ladakh, Pangong Lake. Despite the fact that we are not going to cross any high pass today, the ride should be quite interesting as we ride on the much less traveled road via Shyok. Most of our ride is going to be along the beautiful Shyok River and through the villages like Agham, Shyok, Durbuk, and Tangste. The road remains slushy along with some exciting water crossings and rocky terrain so being cautious is important. After crossing Durbuk, the last stretch of the ride is going to be along the lake. From the very first glimpse, the lake leaves an everlasting impression on the visitors. Get yourself photographed and just admire the wonder that is this shimmering blue lake. Overnight stay in tents.  Day 08: Pangong to Leh(3500m) | 150km      Grade/Duration - Moderate/Approx. 5 Hours Altitude Loss - 750m Highlights - Chang La, Druk White Lotus School Wake up to an enchanting sunrise over Pangong Tso and recommence your Ladakh expedition. Today we are going to ride the same route that we rode yesterday and after crossing Durbuk, we will start climbing the third highest motorable pass in the world, Chang La(5360m). After crossing Chang La, we halt for Lunch. After eating, we start our journey to Lah via Karu from where we start riding on the Manali-Leh Highway. Just before reaching Leh, we are going to pass through the Thiksey monastery and the popular Druk White Lotus School. There will be a short halt to explore the monastery and take some pictures. After riding for approximately an hour, we will arrive in Leh for the second time during the expedition. Stay Overnight in a hotel. Day 09: Leh to Sarchu(4290m) | 250km      Grade/Duration - Moderate/Approx. 6 Hours Altitude Gain - 790m Highlights - Gata loops, Nakee La, Lachung La, Morey Plains, Tanglang La, Riding along Indus River After witnessing all the wonderful things that Ladakh had to offer, it’s time to head back. We are again going to take the Manali-Leh Highway and ride through all the high passes to make our way back to Sarchu. Reach Sarchu early in the evening and relax at the campsite. Sleeping at high altitude is going to be less of a problem this time as you are better acclimatized to the weather and conditions. Overnight stay in a tent. Day 10: Sarchu to Manali(2050m) | 230km      Grade/Duration - Moderate/Approx. 10 Hours Altitude Loss - 2240m Highlights - Baralacha La, Suraj Tal, Keylong, Atal tunnel Wake up early in the morning and get ready for what’s going to be the last day of riding on this expedition. We are going to continue our journey on the Manali-Leh Highway and reach Manali by late evening after crossing places such as Baralacha la, Keylong, and Atal tunnel. After arriving in Manali, check in to the hotel and return the bike. Later go out with your recently made friends and explore Manali on your own. Stay overnight. Day 11: Departure from Manali (Volvo tickets not included) Wake up nice and easy and have breakfast at the hotel. Today, you have half a day to explore Manali and later catch the overnight bus to Delhi. Trip Ends.

Manali To Leh: Here's How To Plan Your Dream Road Trip

If there’s one road trip that most Indian travellers dream to embark on, it’s the one from Manali to Leh. After all, riding some of the world’s highest motorable roads is an experience of a lifetime. Here’s a quick guide on planning your Manali to Leh bike trip. By Karan Kaushik

Plan your Manali to Leh road trip with this handy guide

Rugged mountains, azure lakes, iconic Buddhist monasteries, traditional Ladakhi mud-brick houses, prayer-flag-festooned lanes, cute little markets, and cosy cafes. Nothing rewards the seasoned traveller quite as Leh does. From thrilling rafting expeditions to offbeat trails in nomadic and remote villages, the stunning land of high passes offers a profusion of exciting activities for the devil-hearted.

Road tripping from Manali to Leh

Manali to Leh

This route takes you through some incredible points like the famous Rohtang Pass, one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. The route after Rohtang Pass takes you through some of the highest motorable roads in the world. Once you reach the Lachulungla Pass, you get spectacular views of the Ladakh Plateau – India’s highest plateau. Important stopovers on this route include Keylong, Jispa, Darcha, Baralacha La, Sarchu, and Upshi. You can take a break in either Keylong or Jispa and spend a night there before heading forward to Leh.

Here’s the full route, followed by a breakdown of individual routes.

Manali – Rohtang – Gramphu – Kokhsar – Keylong – Jispa – Darcha – Zingzingbar – Baralacha La – Bharatpur – Sarchu – Gata Loops – Nakee La – Lachulung La – Pang – Tanglang La – Gya – Upshi – Karu – Leh

Manali to Jispa

Begin the journey of a lifetime from Manali. Grab a wholesome breakfast at one of the many cafes in Manali. The first point on this route is Madi, following which you will reach the popular Rohtang Pass. It usually takes riders two hours to make it to Rohtang Pass. Spend some time soaking in the unparalleled picturesque beauty of Rohtang. Take a dozen selfies with your mains.

If you are travelling during peak seasons, chances of meeting fellow bike riders are also high. Befriend them and hit the road again. Your next pitstop could be Keylong, which lies just a little before Jispa. Now, you may choose to spend the rest of the day and night at Keylong or reach Jispa for your overnight stay. Keylong is also where you should check your bike and get it repaired if need be. You won’t find any other repair shops before Leh. Jispa Rollingstone Home Stay & Cafe and Dorje Lhakpa HomeStay are nice options for food and lodging.

Jispa to Leh

After resting for the night at Jispa, start early for Leh. This is where the Manali to Leh route gets amazing as well as challenging. This route will take you through the otherworldy landscapes of Baralacha La Pass, Tanglangla, Moore Planes, and Upshi.

View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Sameer MI Ahmed (@sameerdigital)

When you reach Baralacha La, you would see the quaint hilly hamlet of Bharatpur. You can stop for lunch at Khoksar in Darcha, which has plenty of eateries and dhabas on both sides of the check post.

View this post on Instagram   A post shared by The Manali man (@foodiefrommanali)

Follow the quirky signboards and head towards the Himachal Pradesh -Jammu and Kashmir border, which is located at Sarchu. Here, you can stay in tented camps as there’s no dearth of good camping facilities. You’ll also find a police check post and a liquor shop in Sarchu.

The other prominent places you’ll ride through on your way to Leh are Gata Loops, Nakee La, Lachung La, Pang, Taglang La, Upshi, and Karu. Just FYI, the last petrol station on the Jispa-Leh route is at Tandi, after which you’ll only come across a fuel station near Upshi and Karu.

View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Arjun Thomas (@arjun_maliyakkal)

If you are feeling uneasy because of the high altitude, make sure to stop at Pang, where there’s an army camp that serves free oxygen. Note that you’ll only get access to your mobile network in Keylong, Jispa, and then Upshi.

If you wish to stop over for a stay before reaching Leh, Pang, Rumtse village, Upshi and Karu have decent guesthouses, homestays , and tented accommodations. There’s no dearth of comfortable accommodation in Darcha, Sissu, Gondhla, Keylong, and Gemur either.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR TOURISTS VISITING LADAKH

Ladakh is a very safe, tourist-friendly and cheering place, but still, you need to take care of some preparations which can make your tour even better and memorable:

– Only post-paid mobile phones work in Leh-Ladakh, preferably BSNL, Airtel and Jio. As phones may not work in many places, keep your family members informed well in advance not to worry if they fail to contact you.

– You would hardly find any cellular network in most of the areas in Leh. BSNL works better here, however, you would find Airtel and Jio signals also at some places (Leh, Hunder and Diskit).

– Don’t expect high-speed internet in Ladakh.

– Keep ready a pair of woollen (not heavy) with you as temperature may dip as low as 5 degrees any time even during summer months.

– Carry good Sun Screen lotion, sunglasses (goggles), cap with you to avoid sunburn as sun rays are direct and can burn your skin.

– Don’t forget to carry photo id with you. Driving License, Passport, Voter Cards, and Aadhaar are valid photo IDs.

– While travelling on the mountains, keep drinking water and eating healthy food and fruits to avoid high altitude sickness and dizziness due to curvy roads, low air pressure and dry air.

– Carry headache, stomachache, anti-vomiting tablets with you.

– You may consume diamox at least 7-8 hours before arrival at Leh (preferably before falling asleep) and may also take before boarding plane to Leh. The medicine is optional. Having rest and drinking enough water for some hours after reaching Leh is advised.

– Leh has some ATM machines where you can withdraw cash. These machines witness long queues of customers during peak season and run out of cash many times. Non-connectivity is another issue. So carrying enough cash is advisable.

– Please respect the Buddhist and Muslim culture of Ladakh. People of all communities here believe in brotherhood and harmony and respects the tourists. The residents expect the same from the tourists.

DETAILS OF THE ROUTE

3sjq2dco

The highway spans a total of 474 km beginning from Manali and opens up on the first day of June and shuts down on the 15 th of September. Technically, the highway remains motorable till October's end. Starting from Manali's forests (Devdar), you pass through Mahri's numerous Dhabas, all while witnessing the beautiful valley.  Further along, comes the Rohtang Pass, standing at an enormous 3978 metres. Weather in the region keeps fluctuating and therefore, travellers are advised to be prepared for extremities.

Landslides are very common and the descend into Lahaul is quite dangerous. Post this, the town of Khoksar comes, where entries are registered and foreigners' passports are checked. The Dhabas here are good and therefore, it is a famous stop for drivers. A famous night stop which comes afterwards is Keylong, a huge town in the region. The place is synonymous with Buddhism, which is apparent in the feel and vibe of the place. A fairly-good alternative to Keylong is the village of Gemur/Jispa (25 kilometres after Keylong).

Acclimatization is important to avoid AMS or Acute Mountain Sickness. Heading towards Zanskar, there is divergence at Darcha. Baralacha La aka “The Gateway to Ladakh, Spiti, Lahaul and Zanskar” is a famous spot. From here, you can visit all four regions after a day's walk. The descent from Baralacha La makes the town of Bharatpur temporarily visible. The road continues approaching Himachal and J&K's borders at Sarchu, where there is a police checkpoint, as well as a wine shop, is located.

Once you enter Jammu & Kashmir, you witness two extremely photogenic valleys. The highway continues to Nakee La which stands tall and high at 4915m. Further ahead is the Lachung La pass, standing at 5035 metres. The descent towards Pang is spectacular as well, especially the last 5 km. Finally comes the highest point of the trip – The Taglang La (5359m). The view from here is tremendously breathtaking. Post Rumtse village, the road starts travelling down the famous Indus Valley, passing Upshi and Karu villages. Finally, the entrance gate stating “Jullay, Welcome to Ladakh” arrives.

Manali to Leh Distance:

Manali to leh road map:, manali leh highway status:.

If the reports from BRO are to be believed, then the Manali-Leh Highway, which is a mountain highway of high significance may just open almost 2 months earlier than expected, a feat to be repeated almost after 17 years. This is because of the width of the layer of snow that usually covers the roads that go from the Rohtang Pass to the Baralacha La, covering areas like Keylong.

The usually 20 to 30ft of snow has only been about 5ft this year, meaning it won’t take as long to clear the way and open the gates of Rohtang into Lahaul Valley and till the city of Leh till the end of April. It is noteworthy that the last time this happened was in the years 1999, 2000 and 2001. The BRO usually starts cleaning the ice in March, with the operations ending in May and gates opened for public by the end of May or beginning of June.

The only service providers in the valley of Leh are the BSNL and Airtel. Hence, the people who have the post-paid connections from these operators can enjoy a hassle-free connectivity during their visit to Leh. On the other hand, if you do not have the post-paid connection from the aforementioned service providers, there are only two options for you: First, either buy a prepaid connection from the mentioned service providers or just use the overcrowded phone booths located in the Leh city.

As the city of Ladakh has a considerable amount of Army, the phone booths in the city are almost always crowded and you can find a lot of soldiers waiting in line to talk to their loved ones, especially in the booths located near the main market or the main road of Leh.

However, if you want to buy the prepaid sim from BSNL or Airtel, it is one of the toughest tasks for the Indian nationals. As the Indian Govt. considers the regions of Leh-Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir as sensitive areas, getting a SIM card is a daunting process for Indians.

Hence, it is recommended that you do not apply for the SIM cards until you are planning to stay for long in the city. On the other hand, the foreign nationals can easily get the prepaid connections and the process is pretty straightforward. They only have to submit photocopies of passport and two passports sized photographs while submitting the application for the SIM cards.  Also Checkout:  Leh Ladakh Tour Packages From Nagpur

Heaven, Peace, Silence, and Tranquility at one place? Come and spend a few hours at Pangong Lake in Ladakh! A pristine place in Ladakh marked by subtle to high peaks around, crystal blue waters and the vast expansion catches the eye so much, so long as if a magic is happening right in front of the eyes. Let our Ladakh holiday packages transport you to this mesmerizing destination, where nature's grandeur unfolds in every corner.Pangong Lake, also known as Pangong Tso, lies calmly at a breathtaking elevation of 14,270 feet. Interestingly, the lake is 12 km long and marks itself between the laps of India and China. Rather, 60% of the portion is stretching in the neighboring nation and this excites every traveler to be here. The surreal clean blue waters are actually brackish or salty in nature and this feature doesn’t let any aquatic life survive in the same. Moreover, the temperature range between -30 to -10 degrees make even this salty lake freeze with thick ice sheets, which is quite opposite in case of salt ridden water bodies. This picturesque landscape location enhances its beauty with the arrival of migrating birds every year and attracts many travelers in search of adventure, photographs, bird-watching and chilling experience. Pangong has another unique and catchy feature; when it acts like a chameleon and changes its color from blue to green to even grey at times. The brackish water of Pangong attracts the migratory birds every year during winters in Ladakh.

Nubra Valley

One of the most beautiful parts of the moonscapes of Ladakh, Nubra Valley is a deep-cut gorge created by the combined effects of Shyok and Nubra (Siachen) rivers. A high altitude cold desert, Nubra Valley is actually an extension of the Tibetan Plateau (Qing-Zang Plateau) that starts in China and extends up to Ladakh. This valley in the plateau separates the Ladakh Range from the Karakoram Range. But more than anything, Nubra Valley is the most beautiful region in all of Ladakh. Home to wonders like the Diskit Monastery,Hunder Sand Dunes, Samstanling Gompa, Yarab Tso Lake, and the villages of Turtuk and Panamik.Located about 160 km from Leh, the capital of Ladakh, Nubra Valley is a great attraction to all those who come here. The gateway to the upper reaches of the country, especially Siachen, Nubra Valley has an oasis of a town in the heart, Diskit, making a great place to stop you and reflect at the beauty around. And while you are at it, take a short detour to the famous white sand dunes of Hunder. The shapes and forms that these dunes take during different times of the year mesmerize every visitor who comes here. To make it further interesting, there are the double-humped Bactrian Camels, offering rides through the dunes. And when it turns dusky, head to the Diskit Monastery and visit the towering statue of Maitreya Buddha which looks over the entire valley and blesses it for another day to come.Planning a Trip to Ladakh, Experience of Chadar Trek - The Frozen River Trek
