• The Cruise and Travel Route shall be deemed to have commenced when you have boarded the Cruise Ship at the scheduled or substituted embarkation port, have cleared customs and immigration and have passed through the reception formalities to board the ship, notwithstanding when ocean navigation from the port commences. The Cruise and Travel Route shall be deemed to have been completed when you disembark at the final port of destination.
• In the case of a repositioning or other international non-coastal voyage or cruise, or in the event of a package or multi-modal inclusive travel booking, then the Cruise Travel Route shall be deemed to have commenced when you have cleared through passport control and entered the international departure area in the country of your domicile or the departure point for your pre-cruise travel arrangements if covered in your booking, for the commencement of international travel by air, train or other means of conveyance in a multi-modal package booking.
• The operation of the Cruise Ship is affected by weather and sea conditions, mechanical problems, duty to assist ships in distress, instructions of the Port and other authorities relating to departure and/or arrival and/or stoppages, the availability of Port facilities, and other factors which may be beyond MSC’s control. MSC cannot accept liability or pay compensation where performance (prompt or otherwise) of this agreement is prevented or affected by factors beyond MSC’s control.
• For these reasons set out in clause 17.4, the date and/ or time at which the Cruise Ship is scheduled to sail and land are approximate only and may be delayed and subject to change.
• MSC does not guarantee that the Cruise Ship will be able to depart the port of embarkation on or at the scheduled date or time, or at all; and/or call or stop at the Ports at which it is scheduled to call or stop; and/or that you will be able to go ashore on a planned shore excursion during the scheduled Travel Route; and/or that the Cruise Ship will travel along the scheduled Travel Route. MSC may change the Travel Route and/or Ports at which the Cruise Ship calls or stops if the master of the Cruise Ship (“the Master”) considers it necessary to do so for any of the reasons set out above.
• If for any reason, the Cruise Ship is unable to sail the Travel Route, MSC may transfer you to another ship or to any other mode of transport bound for the destination of your Cruise. 17.8 If the Port from which you are scheduled to board the Cruise Ship is changed by MSC, MSC will at its cost arrange for you to be transported to the Port at which you are required to board the Cruise Ship.

Starting from October 1st 2021, MSC Cruises will only welcome Guests who are residents in the 26 European ‘Schengen’ countries (Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland) and Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus, Croatia , USA, UK, Ireland and Israel. Certain restrictions will apply depending on the destinations. For more information, it is recommended to check your country’s competent authorities official channels. 

To ensure peace of mind, MSC Cruises requires all guests to have a specific and mandatory Covid-19 insurance policy to embark, covering against COVID-19 related risks, i.e cancellation, interruption, repatriation expenses, quarantine, medical assistance and related expenses, as well as hospitalization. Before finalizing a reservation, it is possible to add to the cruise the MSC COVID-19 Protection plan for Winter 21/22 cruises on this website. A proof of the specific COVID-19 coverage insurance policy – which must be in one of the following languages English, Italian, German, French or Spanish – must be presented at embarkation or boarding will be denied.

Health Screening and Protocols

Health screening of all guests in the cruise terminals will include a temperature check and a health questionnaire.To minimise congestion during embarkation, guests will be assigned a specific arrival time, which will be indicated on their cruise tickets. Guests are asked to respect the timing and will not be allowed to enter the terminal until their time slot.MSC Orchestra and MSC Sinfonia are equipped with a 24/7 Medical Centre staffed by professional doctors and nurses and have a contingency response plan agreed upon in collaboration with the relevant authorities ashore.Additional health and safety measures include increased sanitation protocols on board and other crew health requirements and checks.

We will deny boarding in case of:

 – Symptoms i.e fever (higher than 37,5 C C / 99.5 F), cough, shortness of breath,chills, muscle/body aches, fatigue, headache, sore throat and loss of taste/smell in the 14 days prior to embarkation

– Potential exposure to a suspected or confirmed case of COVID 19 in the 14 days prior to embarkation

– Temporary travel restrictions based on local circumstances. For example, certain countries may deny visas or prohibit entry based on travel history or nationality.

– Failure to provide the proof of the mandatory COVID-19 insurance policy (which must be in one of the following languages: English, Italian, German, French or Spanish) 

GOING ASHORE & TRAVELLING BACK HOME

If you wish to go ashore during your cruise, South African departures, you can do so in all ports in Namibia and South Africa or the Mozambique MSC Cruises exclusive destinations (Pomene and Portuguese Islands).

From Pietermartizburg (Johannesburg to Harbour): Approaching Durban on the N3, you will come to a fork in the road. Take the exit signposted City (not Beach). When you come to the first set of robots / traffic lights, turn right into Dr Yusuf Dadoo Street (Grey Street). Cross over Dr Pixley KaSeme Street (West Street) and Anton Lembede Street (Smith Street). (Grey Street and Broad Street are now both called Dr Yusuf Dadoo Street). When you come to the T-Junction at the end of the street, turn left into Margaret Mncadi Avenue (Victoria Embankment / Esplanade). Follow this road until you come to the sixth set of robots / traffic lights. At this point, Stalwart Simelane Street (Stanger Street) should be on your left and Quayside Road on your right. Turn right into Quayside Road, go through security (boom gates) and follow the signs to the N-Shed. From the North Coast : Take the M4 Northern Freeway,  which runs along the beach. When you reach the robots / traffic lights, go over Sandile Thusi Road (Argyle Road) and continue straight past C R Swart Police Station. Cross over Somtseu Road, KE Msinga Road (Old Fort Road), Bram Fischer Road (Ordinance Road), Monty Naicker Road (Pine Street), Dr Pixley KaSeme Street (West Street) and Anton Lembede Street (Smith Street). At the set of robots / traffic lights immediately after Anton Lembede Street (Smith Street) turn right into Margaret Mncadi Avenue (Victoria Embankment / Esplanade). At the first set of robots / traffic lights, turn left into Quayside Road, go through security (boom gates) and follow the signs to the N-Shed. From the South Coast: From the M4 Freeway, take Margaret Mncadi Avenue (Victoria Embankment / Esplanade), exiting off the ramp. Follow the road till you get to a set of robots / traffic lights were Stalwart Simelance Street (Stanger Street) is on your left and Quayside Road is on your right. Turn right into Quayside Road, go through security (boom gates) and follow the signs to the N-Shed.
