Singapore Night Safari

Singapore prides itself on being one of the best tourist destinations in Asia, if not the world. And when it comes to novel tourist attractions , Singapore has long taken the lead.

Many ‘firsts’ have been started in Singapore including the fantastically unique Singapore Night Safari.

Singapore Night Safari, Zoo Tour, Ticket Prices, Opening Hours

The Singapore Night Safari is home to over 130 species totalling about 2500 nocturnal animals that graze, hunt and breed across the massive 40-hectare park.

The night safari features the Tram Safari Experience, which takes visitors on a guided tour across the wildlife park. The tour covers seven zones representing various geographical points in the world such as the Himalayan Foothills and the Asian Riverine Forest.

Visitors may also opt to explore the park on foot. The park has various walking trails that strategically lead to areas which the tram cannot reach. One of the best trails is called the Leopard Trail where visitors will get the chance to observe leopards and lions as they feed in the wild. Another popular trail aptly called Wallaby Trail gives guests a taste of Australian wildlife as the trail leads to a family of wallabies in their natural habitat.

The Singapore Night Safari also holds a number of night shows. One of the most popular is called the ‘Thumbuakar Performance’ which features a troupe of tribal warriors showcasing various stunts accompanied by lively tribal music. The unique night-life adventure in Singapore Night Safari is definitely an experience you won’t forget.

Catch the MRT to the Singapore Night Safari. Take the MRT on the North-South (Red) line and transit to connecting public bus services. Catch these connecting public buses that will take you right to the park.

Make sure you buy your tickets in advance as the Singapore Night Safari is one of the most popular family activities in Singapore .

Watch leopards, lions, civets, and porcupines go about their nightly routines as you trek down the Leopard Trail. There are also two spectacular walk-through exhibits where you can see flying foxes and flying squirrels up close. Spend time looking at our Sri Lankan leopards closely so you can count their whiskers and see their spots.

Leopards are adaptable felines, despite being relentlessly hunted for their fascinating patterns - they remain the most common cat species in the Old World. The clouded leopard, however, is not so lucky. The species has been menaced by poachers, and the wild population has been declining for decades. They are known to climb down a tree headfirst - look for them when they are in the act.

Night Safari

  • Top Attractions

Night Safari

The Singapore Night Safari is one of the main attractions in the city , and its inauguration in 1994 meant a new way to see the animals of the region up close .

Plano del Safari Nocturno

The Night Safari is not just an illuminated zoo, nor just another night area in a normal zoo. This attraction is a 40-hectare natural environment , which offers its visitors the opportunity to see the jungle wildlife of the area as the sun sets.

The tour takes place both by foot and by tram - 'Jurassic Park' style. And as well as the animals themselves, there are a variety of different shows that are well worth your while , especially "Night Creatures" .

There are two different kinds of ticket: walking or tram . You should get the tram ticket, as there are many parts of the park which are inaccessible by foot.

The creation of the Night Safari came about because 90% of tropical animals are nocturnal, and most active once the sun sets.

In the park you can see more than 1,000 animals of 100 different species , and the most memorable parts of the park are the bat grotto (the bats are loose, careful, they might even perch on you!), the flying squirrel area and of course the Malay tigers .

In Our Opinion

The Night Safari is fun and different, but if you're only going to be a night or two in Singapore, we recommend drinking in the atmosphere of the city. However, if you're around for longer, it's a great option .

Another point in favour, is that it's right next to the Singapore Zoo , so if you're an animal lover, you can combine both!

Getting There

If you want to make your own wat there, the best move is to forget the local buses and take a taxi or the direct bus from Bus Hub .

The price of this bus is about 7 SGD ( US$ 5.10) per journey , and per person. It leaves Singapore at 6 pm, 7 pm, and  8 pm. You can see the schedule and stops on the company website .

The price of a taxi is between 18 SGD ( US$ 13.20) and 28 SGD ( US$ 20.50), depending on the time. The journey takes 20-30 minutes.

Night Safari is the world’s first wildlife park for nocturnal animals. The star of the Night Safari experience is the Tram Safari Experience, a guided tour that takes you across 7 geographical zones of the world, from the rugged Himalayan Foothills to the swampy banks of the Asian Riverine Forest and more.

Explore the walking trails to see even more animals not visible from the tram journey. Take a leisurely trek along the Leopard Trail where you can get within a whisker of the beautiful leopards or observe the lions at their most active during the token feeding session. Or, go down under into the Outback to discover native wildlife of Australia including a family of wallabies in their walk-through habitat along the latest Wallaby Trail.

No visit to Night Safari is complete without watching the signature Thumbuakar Performance. Catch the talented troupe of tribal warriors as they thrill you with their fiery stunts. Lastly, don’t miss the must-see Creatures of the Night Show. This highly entertaining and interactive 20-minute show highlights the natural abilities of some of the most fascinating nocturnal animals.

It’s an after-dark wildlife adventure you’ll never forget.

The rest seems ok.

Thank You So Much Mankster and would go as you suggested .

Your first days are waaaay over filled.

You intend to fly overnight, with limited or no sleep and 4 hours time shift, then try to what is a further 16-17hours of heavy activity. Thats pretty much guaranteed to have a poor experience through the whole day after flying - let alone the Night Safari which that set of three parks in one day is always going to stand a high chance of wrecking. Plus those are high cost items.

On top of that you suggest a range of around 3 days worth if items plus an international trip to Johor (with attendant visa issues to ensure you meet) to try and further bloat out the days.

Sorry but your aims are hugely unrealistic and you need to prioritise and dial back hugely.

As a further note - the 7th on Sentosa is fine as an idea but its totally undetailed in content so its hard to determine if your aims there would be achievable or overfull.

THere are lots of itinerary discussions here that will give you an idea of decent lengths of time for attractions. If this is copied of a travel agents itinerary, then thatswhy we often say DIY as usch an itinerary is designed to sound like you are getting value for money and seeing a lot while not really seeing anything sensibly.

SOrry thats going to be a lot of reading for you and rejigging of things in a short time before you travel but your first day needs to keep you going from arrival until a sensible time in the evening to get you onto Singapre time without going so late as to get your body think its at the start of a day elsewhere again. Generaly you want things that are casual visits - and ideally not high cost items ( Botanic Gardens is good for example - as you can wander parts of it that interest and then retreat to airconditioning for climate relief if you want to on Orchard, or travel to Marina Bay for the same,

IT was really nice reading it ..nothing jig jig .

Infect I am thankful to you as you took time out and wrote so much to guide me and help me ..

In Sentosa...there is a huge list of activities

Places to visit near Sentosa

Will go as per your suggestion ....1st day in singapore Relax and take the feel of Singapore ..

Thank you so Much once again

**In Sentosa...there is a huge list of activities**

**and Malaysia is a Visa free for Indian Passport holders.**

Sort of - as I understand it from the Malay government sies Indian Nationals are visa requiring nationals but certain patterns of trip are eligible for a waiver of that visa and visa free access under the eNTRI program. That has limits on the process.

However, the main reason I raised the visa issue was more that to do a hop to Johor, you have to come back to Singapore, which requires a visa by default for Indian national - you are on a cruise so presumably have multi-entry visa already to cover that.

However, these forums are going to be read by others - so its worth making it clear given that proof of onward travel is a General Entry Requirement of Malaysia and that is valid onward travel, not just a ticket https://www.imi.gov.my/index.php/en/main-services/entry-requirement-into-malaysia-en/

**1st day in singapore Relax **

Relax goes a bit too far - a day by the pool risks falling asleep and again the jetlag issues. You need a certain level of activity and so the recommendation of casual items are to aim at things you can wander round with tiredness building and still enjoy it, rather than relaxation.

This post has been removed at the author's request.

Also on you your list is a River Walk - you could take in Merlion Park and you have mentioned an interest in the Helix bridge - so you can view quite a lot in this area if you take a leisurely walk.

Another Suggestion before checkin is

Marina Bay Sands Shoppes - has nice views of the city, Merlion etc from outside. You can also see the rain oculus and perhaps take a Sampan Ride.

Than k you Myrm.

We will rest for 1st day and do casual walk and explore the city in evening .
