Paradise cave or (Hang Thien Duong) was found by a local man named “Ho Khanh in 2005”. The cave was researched by British Cave Research Association with total length of 31,4km and was considered as the dried-longest cave in Asia. The cave has been form over 300 million of years based on scientist’s prediction with wonderful formations. It looks like a secret city hidden underground and is attractive to visitors. You can go further 7000 m to enjoy the secrets inside the cave.

Phong Nha Cave well-known as (Wind blows through the teeth) was found in the 16th century by Champa people. The cave located inside the core zone area of Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park . The cave was researched by BCRA in 1990.

Phong Nha cave is not only a natural legacy of the world or a wonder of the country Vietnam, but also the historical history in the past, Ho Chi Minh trail history which collaborates with Xuan Son Ferry in order to create a route supporting for the battleground of the South Vietnam during US War. Great paradise and phong nha cave tour

The cave experience was awesome. The pickup from our hotel in Dong Hoi was flawless. We also had a request to send us straight to the airport after the tour and the tour guide Binh was excellent. She arranged for another bus to get us to the airport way ahead of our departure time. I cannot say enough of the great customer experience. They communicate in real-time with us through WhatsApp. I highly recommend their tour.

PHONG NHA CAVE- PARADISE CAVE FULL DAY FROM DONG HOI Thank you for giving us really nice time here. Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Phong Nha – Ke Bang is famous for its cave sytems . The park contains many fascinating rock formations and Ke Bang Forest . We take a boat ride through undergound rivers to experience nature and enjoy fresh air . I dont know how to describe my feeling because it’s more beautiful than my imagined. Our tourguide was also friendly and knowledgeble. Summary, we will back here if we have chance in the future!

Die Paradies Höhle ist wirklich atemberaubend. Unsere Gruppe hatte Glück und wir waren fast alleine in der Höhle! Der Aufstieg ist total easy. Unser Guide T war ebenfalls super. Ich mochte seine ruhige, lustige und unaufdringliche Art! Einzig das Personal beim Lunch war sehr unfreundlich. Obwohl das Essen gut und ausreichend für alle war. Die Phong Nha Höhle ist auch sehenswert! Mir hat die Tour sehr gut gefallen..

What a great tour from Dong Hoi to the caves including a lovely lunch. Our tour guide Binh was wonderful. Very easy to listen to and informative about the local area as well as other tours available all over Vietnam. Paradise Cave (known as Thien Duong Cave) is a dry cave located in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province -  about 70km from Dong Hoi city center to the west (1.75 hours of traveling by car) and 35km from Phong Nha Cave. It is surrounded by a diverse primeval forest ecosystem, located near Mooc stream, Chay River - Dark Cave tourist area; about 35km from Phong Nha cave.

This cave is located at an altitude of about 116m above sea level, is 31.4km long, 60-80m high and 30-150m wide. According to British Caving Association, this cave, formed 350-400 million years ago, has a breathtakingly impressive structure with a unique stalactite system creating the name of the cave “Paradise Cave” (or Thien Duong Cave in Vietnamese).  In order to ensure the inherent structure of the cave and help visitors more easily visit the cave, a wooden stair was built, 1km long and 3.5m wide.  Stepping into the cave along the stairs, you will be impressed by the fanciful, sparkling beauty of the stalactites and the light of the lamp. The different shapes of stone pillars and stalactites are often associated with images such as Blessed Mother statues, Giao Tri palace (heaven palace), Rong house (communal house), terraced rice fields, the Lotus tower, ... Everything is as vivid and brilliant as the paradise. The temperature in the cave is often from 18 to 21°C, creating a cool atmosphere and cool feeling to the Paradise cave’s visitors. 

For the first 1km, you can explore the cave by yourself along the way of the wooden stair, for the next 6km you need to book a tour with a guide for a trekking & exploring journey. On the journey to the discovering 6km into the cave you have a chance to explore the natural well area - a place where natural light comes down from above; a natural blue lake - where you can soak & relax in the cool blue mineral water; admire the unique and wonderful stalactites accumulating and forming from hundreds of million years ago.

Note: sandals and neatly dressing are highly recommended

Ticket for visiting the first 1km in the cave  - Adults: 250,000đ/person (~ $10.77)   - Children: 125,000đ/110cm - 130cm child (~ $5.38) and free for children under 110cm Electric car fee -  A 4-seater electric car: 60,000đ/person/turn (~ $2.6) and 100,000đ/person/round trip (~ $4.3) - A 6-seater electric car: 90,000đ/person/turn (~ $3.8) and 150,000đ/person/round trip (~ $6.5)       

The best time to admire the beauty of this cave is  from April to July. This period of time coincides with the dry season at which the weather is pleasant with little rain.

Paradise cave is one of the most beautiful caves in Phong Nha Ke Bang Park , along with Dark Cave , Phong Nha Cave , and Son Doong Cave .

Unlike Phong Nha Cave, Paradise cave is a dry cave with no underground river flow. Most parts of the ground in this cave have soft soil, and the ground is quite flat, so it is convenient for sightseeing and exploration.

With a length of 31.4 km and a height of 60m, Paradise cave is the longest dry cave with the longest wooden bridge in Asia.

The cave’s width varies from 30m to 100m, with some places up to 150m.

The cave is also known for its unique stalactite and stalagmite system, creating fanciful imagination.

The temperature inside the Paradise cave is always different from the outside by about 10 degrees Celcius.

Where is Paradise cave?

Paradise Cave is located on Ho Chi Minh West Road, in Bo Trach, Quang Binh, Vietnam .

With a distance of 64 km, it takes about 1.5 hours to get from Dong Hoi to Paradise Cave. If you’re staying in Phong Nha town, you can get there easily within a 1-hour drive.

I suggest staying in Phong Nha for your convenience as most of the attractions are in Phong Nha. You can rent a motorbike for one or a few days in either Dong Hoi or Phong Nha town.

Son Doong Riverside  and  Funny Monkeys  are great choices if you’re looking for a budget vacation in Phong Nha.

For a relaxing vacation, consider Nguyen Shack Eco Resort  and  Phong Nha Farmstay . While they are a bit off the beaten path, both offer comfortable rooms, an onsite restaurant, and an outdoor swimming pool.

How to get to Paradise cave?

A) by motorbike.

You can visit Paradise cave without a tour easily by driving there.

I rent my scooter from MotorVina , but you can easily spot bike-renting services everywhere in Phong Nha.

From Phong Nha town, you can drive along Ho Chi Minh Road, then turn left to Ho Chi Minh West Road, following the road until you get to Paradise Cave.

If you start from Dong Hoi, you should prepare to go early because the distance is quite far.

If you’re traveling by a group, renting a charter car for a day would be the right choice.

Several companies offer daily tours from Phong Nha/ Dong Hoi to Paradise Cave. You can select a day tour that includes a trip to Paradise cave and Phong Nha cave or Dark cave .

The tour includes hotel pickup and drop-off at Dong Hoi or Phong Nha, transportation, lunch, entrance fee to the caves, and guide.

If you select the Paradise cave and Dark cave tour , you should wear quick-dry and waterproof clothing and bring:

• Towel and swimwear
• Mosquito repellent
• Extra clothes

How much is the entrance fee to Paradise cave?

The road from the gate to the ticketing point will excite you with the steep slopes of up to 40 degrees. The surrounding area is gorgeous, so don’t forget to stop and take some beautiful pictures.

Getting to the gate, you will see most visitors traveling on tour. After parking your bike/ car, you can go to the ticket booth to buy tickets.

Paradise cave entrance fee : 250 000 VND/ person ($22), excluding electronic car.

At first, I thought the price was a bit high, but after visiting, the beauty of the cave changed my mind.

Exploring Paradise cave

Getting there.

After getting past the ticket control, there are two options:

• Taking an electronic car
• Trekking 1 km

I chose the trekking option as the distance was quite short. It was during the butterfly season, so the road was charming.

After 10 minutes walk, you will get to the road to Paradise Cave. As Paradise cave is located at an altitude of 360m above sea level, there are two ways to climb up:

• Stairway (short, but more tiring)
• The cement road (a little further away, but easier)

The cement road is about 500m, and it takes about 10 minutes to go up there. The entrance of Paradise cave is small, hidden behind cliffs and forest canopy.

Entering Paradise cave

Getting inside Paradise cave, you will be amazed by how large it is.

“It’s massive” – I first thought.

The temperature in the cave is lower than the outside, so it brings a chill atmosphere. You may want to get a light jacket in case it’s cold.
