Port Stephens Tour Itinerary

Set just a few hours from Sydney , Port Stephens is the perfect day trip if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of city crowds and experience a slice of Australian paradise while you’re at it.

Our day-tour of this part of the world promises 26 breath-taking beaches, a smattering of national parks, and an incredibly colourful marine life that is just waiting to be explored. You can watch dolphins frolic in the impossibly blue waves, kick back on pristine sands, or dive into something more adventurous at take a 4WD trip down huge dunes.

The trip kicks off with a journey to Port Stephens , passing over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the stunning New South Wales coast as we go. Once we arrive in Port Stephens, we’ll stop for lunch in the pretty confines of Nelson Bay before browsing the shops.

Afterwards, it’s time to see what the area really has to offer with a dolphin spotting boat trip. Keep your eyes peeled for the 150 bottlenose dolphins that call this part of Australia home. Choose to view the magnificent creatures from the viewing deck or, for the more adventurous, via the boom net attached to the back of the boat.

If you’re travelling during June and October, you’ll be able to upgrade to a whale watching cruise instead of the dolphin cruise. We take you further out where you can watch the annual migration of thousands of Humpback and Minke whales take place.

Next, you can either spend some time exploring Port Stephens in your own way. Relax on the beach, take a walk, or go sandboarding, where you’ll take a 4WD over the Anna Bay dunes and fly down the peaks on boards specially designed for the activity.

Once the afternoon comes to a close, we’ll travel back to Sydney via the stunning scenery of the coastline. Slowly but surely, you’ll see the glittering lights of the city and its famous attractions come into view after a day spent exploring the wilder side of the area.

  • Getting to Port Stephens
  • When to visit

Discover a beguiling list of attractions – from wildlife to wineries, soaring sand dunes to ancient rainforest – in this northern New South Wales town.

Port Stephens is a seaside getaway, surrounded by 26 stunning beaches and a majestic bay along the Legendary Pacific Coast route. In addition to world-class surf breaks, visitors can explore this aquatic playground by scuba diving with grey nurse sharks, swimming with wild dolphins or snorkelling in gentle bays. There are inventive tours on offer in the nearby Stockton sand dunes and Barrington Tops National Park, making Port Stephens the perfect place for a weekend away.

A popular way to get to Port Stephens is to self drive from Sydney. It's a scenic, coastal route with plenty of places to stop and explore along the way. If you're pressed for time, you can also fly into Newcastle and explore Port Stephens from there.

  • Newcastle Airport (NTL) is approximately a 30-minute, or 35km (22km) drive to Port Stephens; domestic arrivals only.
  • Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) is around 2.5 hours, or 210km (130mi) from Port Stephens; international and domestic arrivals.
  • Hire cars are available upon arrival, however it is recommended to pre-book your desired vehicle.

Port Stephens is perfect for beach hopping and adventure activities, which is why it’s no surprise that summer is the best time to visit. However if you want to spot humpback whales as they make their annual migration down the east coast, you will want to visit between May and November.

  • High season: Summer (December to February)
  • Low season: Winter (June to August)

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

First refuelling for Russia’s Akademik Lomonosov floating NPP

!{Model.Description}

port stephens tour

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactor units. In such reactors, nuclear fuel is not replaced in the same way as in standard NPPs – partial replacement of fuel once every 12-18 months. Instead, once every few years the entire reactor core is replaced with and a full load of fresh fuel.

The KLT-40S reactor cores have a number of advantages compared with standard NPPs. For the first time, a cassette core was used, which made it possible to increase the fuel cycle to 3-3.5 years before refuelling, and also reduce by one and a half times the fuel component in the cost of the electricity produced. The operating experience of the FNPP provided the basis for the design of the new series of nuclear icebreaker reactors (series 22220). Currently, three such icebreakers have been launched.

The Akademik Lomonosov was connected to the power grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020.

Electricity generation from the FNPP at the end of 2023 amounted to 194 GWh. The population of Pevek is just over 4,000 people. However, the plant can potentially provide electricity to a city with a population of up to 100,000. The FNPP solved two problems. Firstly, it replaced the retiring capacities of the Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya Thermal Power Plant, which is more than 70 years old. It also supplies power to the main mining enterprises located in western Chukotka. In September, a 490 km 110 kilovolt power transmission line was put into operation connecting Pevek and Bilibino.
