Belvedere/Tiburon has a very cute downtown, and you can and should take the ferry there and back from SF. Angel Island is another ferry hop from Belvedere/Tiburon, and is a must-see, great place to hike and camp if you can snag a reservation. To the south, Half Moon Bay is a cute little coastal community, with great food.
