Travel Trailers Under 3000 lbs Specifications

We looked at a variety of camper floorplans before choosing these 16 lightweight campers for you. In our in-depth review of the current market, we only chose travel trailers with a bathroom and under 3000 lbs (or at most 3,000 pounds of dry weight).

Consider that you will have campers with a dry bath and full dry bath (including a hand basin) , as well as options with a rudimentary but convenient wet bath with only a shower and a toilet . If you are not familiar with the different   types of RV toilets our article tells you all you need to know.

Some of the options on our list of these 16 lightweight campers under 3,000 lbs have one slide-out and bunk beds. However, the majority of the campers in this review are meant for couples or a small group of weekend travelers.

Numerous of these campers also have the benefit of being short , making them simple to move around and store.

The chart below summarizes a brief detail of the weighting and size specifications . In the rest of the article, we highlight the differences between each floorplan, including walkthrough videos and 360 tours. We also review the advantages and disadvantages to help you choose between these amazing travel trailers with a bathroom under 3000 lbs (dry weight).

16 Campers Under 3,000 lbs Dry Weight

To keep the weight absolutely clear, we will refer at all times to 3000 lbs dry weight, also known as the unloaded vehicle weight (UVW). In this way, we will highlight the maximum loading capacity (or CCC, meaning cargo capacity), which, among many floorplans, is a big difference.

As we always mention, if the maximum towing capacity of your vehicle is 3000 lbs, you should not be looking for campers of exactly the maximum of your towing capacity . It is advisable to go no more than 70-80% to have some margin of safety and also do the math to find the right weight camper.

If you need a camper lighter than 3000 lbs , check out the 10 best small pop-up campers on the current market, where you will find small campers under 1500 lbs and as short as 15 feet long when folded.

We have reviewed a number of camper floorplans and have selected these 16 travel trailers under 3000 lbs for you to consider in your search . All of these lightweight campers are equipped with a bathroom , which is extremely advantageous. Some even have full bathrooms , including a hand basin. You’ll find that in this size of RV at only 3,000 lbs or less, the bathroom can be wet or dry, but can also just be a toilet and shower. With no other space available, many floorplans do not include something like a hand basin.

In addition to being lightweight , many of these campers have the advantage of being short and, therefore, easy to maneuver and store .

You’ll see floorplans perfect for couples and others suitable for larger families looking for lightweight travel trailer options with spacious bunkhouses.

160QB camper Under 3000 lbs (dry weight) for Up to 3 People

The 160QB and 170MB floorplans are very similar, and their main difference is based on the bed. The KZRV 160QB travel trailer comes with a fixed queen bed, while the 170MB has a queen Murphy bed with a sofa . Although both travel trailers have the same length (22 feet) and overall dimensions, the 170MB has the advantage of appearing to have a more spacious interior. During the day, you have lunch or supper seated in the booth dinette and then enjoy the comfort of the sofa of the 170MB floorplan . At night, you can easily pull down the queen Murphy bed and rest.

The bathroom in the 170MB is more spacious than the 160QB. However, the best closet is in the 160QB. So, there are floorplans to suit all tastes. Choosing the right one just depends on what you are looking for.

20 Best Small Camper Trailers with Bathrooms: 2024 Models

Best small camper trailers with bathrooms

Sharing is caring!

Finding small camper trailers with bathrooms can be a bit challenging. Less space means some things have to go, and more often than not, it’s the bathroom.

You might be surprised to know that the very first campers were created with bathrooms way back in 1910. The first motorhome, made from a 3-ton Packard truck, was 28 feet long and 6.5 feet wide and could sleep 11. It also boasted an ice box, a toilet, and a “salon,” making it the very first motorhome.

I’m sure camper bathrooms have come a long way since that first one was built. Nowadays, it’s easy to find larger trailers with luxurious bathrooms but many smaller campers don’t have any bathroom amenities.

In fact, the smaller they are, the less likely they are to have a toilet and even less likely a shower. However, small camper trailers with bathrooms are out there and worth looking at if you are in the market for a smaller camper.

Read on to check out these 20 best small camper trailers with bathrooms.

Do You Really Need a Bathroom in A Small Camper Trailer?

Speaking from experience, there is nothing better than having your own bathroom in your travel trailer. You don’t have to get dressed, put on your shoes, grab your flashlight, and wake everyone else up just to answer the call of nature. If your dog must answer the call, you are out of luck.

Even with small camper trailers with bathrooms, you still don’t have to use the campground facilities which are likely not very convenient and could be sort of gross. I haven’t been to too many places that had well-maintained bathrooms and showers.

Some might be clean, but they are also very old and worn. Of course, shower shoes are a must and I’ve even been to some that lacked even a place to hang your clothes and towel.

If you like to boondock, small camper trailers with bathrooms make going off-grid fun and easy.

Check out our video below featuring Campers under 20′ with bathrooms!

Wet Bath VS Dry Bath

Wet baths are just how they sound. These common small camper bathrooms have a toilet and a sink in the same space and don’t have a dedicated shower space.

You will also find a hose/showerhead that you can use sitting down or standing up. They are usually found in very small travel trailers such as teardrops, camper vans, and pickup campers.

The question comes up regarding how you keep your toilet paper dry in a wet bath. There are watertight dispensers available, or you can just leave the TP outside when you take a shower.

Dry baths are your traditional RV bathrooms with a shower separated from the other bathroom area.

How Much Do Small Camper Trailers with Bathrooms Cost?

You can find small camper trailers with bathrooms starting at around $20,000 MSRP. You would think that models with wet baths should be cheaper than ones with a full bathroom but that is not always the case.

For example, the Riverside Retro 135 and KZ Sportsmen Classic have a fully separate shower and are priced at around $20,000.

The Scamp 13 comes in around $20,000, with a wet bath, as well as The Little Guy Mini Max, which is priced at around $25,000.

The most expensive model on our list, the Airstream Basecamp REI, is priced around $53,000 and has a wet bath.

Dry bath models include the Jayco Jay Feather 166FBS, priced at around $37,000, and also the Wildwood FSX, right around $21,000.

What is the Smallest Camper Trailer with a Bathroom?

At just 13 feet long, the Scamp 13 is the smallest trailer on the list with a bathroom. It has a wet bath but it’s still a bathroom and in a 13′ trailer, that’s pretty impressive!

Small Camper Trailer Bathroom vs Portable Toilet

There are other choices to consider when you are looking for a trailer. If you don’t have a bathroom you can also consider the option of a portable toilet.

Portable toilets can include a cassette toilet in which the waste is dumped into a 5-gallon cassette, which is then emptied at a dump station.

A cassette toilet will usually hold about 50 small flushes and generally needs to be dumped every few days. The waste and chemicals do smell when dumped.

Composting toilets are also portable and do require some maintenance. These usually require a power source, as well. The waste is treated with a biological process, which leads to the decomposition of organic matter and turns the waste into a compost-like material.

Composting is carried out by microorganisms under controlled aerobic conditions. If the toilet is maintained, this option should not smell. However, it needs to be emptied about once a month, of course, depending on how often they are used.

These are options for a trailer without a bathroom, but you won’t have a shower or sink.

Final Thoughts About Small Camper Trailers with Bathrooms

Small camper trailers with bathrooms are great for first-time RVers or for those who want something that is easy to tow. Families can also get along well with these small campers.

Manufacturers have certainly answered the call and stepped up their game with small camper trailers that have bathrooms and many other awesome amenities. Don’t forget to do your research to find just the right small camper for you.

Even a slightly used one could have everything you want and need, including that coveted bathroom, and be just what you are looking for.

Small campers may have less space. However, the adventures are just as big! Getting out there is the important thing, and doing so with your own bathroom is going to make your trip that much better.

10 Smallest Travel Trailers with a Dry Bath in 2023

Last Updated on December 9, 2023 by Jess

Discover the perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and privacy in your next small travel trailer. Say goodbye to the inconvenience of wet baths and explore the world of small trailers with dry baths.

Are you looking for a small travel trailer that offers comfort, convenience, and privacy? Do you want to avoid the hassle and mess of a wet bath? If so, you may want to consider a small travel trailer with a dry bath.

A dry bath is a bathroom that has a separate shower, toilet, and sink. Unlike a wet bath, where everything is in one enclosed space and gets wet when you shower, a dry bath keeps everything dry and clean .

A dry bath also gives you more room to move around and store your toiletries and towels.

Embark on a journey as we unveil the top 10 small travel trailers featuring dry baths, ideal for your 2023 adventures. Learn the essentials of dry baths, why they are a game-changer, and gain insights on choosing the perfect trailer for your needs. Let the exploration begin!

Small travel trailers are great for many reasons, but often one of their biggest drawbacks is their wet bath.

Most smaller RVs offer a wet bath, which is a small bathroom that combines a shower, toilet, and perhaps a small bathroom sink in a small flex space designed to get wet.

Because while wet baths make a lot of sense from a practical standpoint in smaller RVs, they often don’t offer the best user experience.

Because they are often cramped and uncomfortable and can be very frustrating to use, especially once everything gets wet.

The good news, however, is that there are actually quite a few small travel trailers on the market today that offer a dry bath as opposed to a wet bath, while still keeping the overall length and weight of the trailer to a minimum.

So to make it easier to get all the smallest campers with a dry bath , we have the 10 smallest travel trailers with a dry bath you can buy.

12 Best Small Travel Trailers with Bathrooms

Look, there are plenty of reasons not to want a large RV. Smaller models, such as small travel trailers, often mean significant savings. Not only will your RV no cost the equivalent of buying another house when you choose smaller travel trailers, but you can also expect better gas mileage, an easier time finding parking spaces, and plenty of other advantages beside—all while still having greater comfort than, say, tent camping.

So there’s plenty to recommend getting yourself a small travel trailer if you’re looking into recreational camping vehicles. One of the biggest drawbacks, however, is that many of them, in trying to make the most of their smaller space, skip including a bathroom.

In which case your bathroom situation is the same as it would be if you were tent camping. Let’s be real: Is that what you are looking for in a recreational vehicle?

If you’re like us, probably not.

Fortunately, however, there are an increasing number of small travel trailers that come with a bathroom. Let’s look at some of the best, shall we?

Table of Contents

Airstream Sport (2018)

small travel trailers with dry bath

Airstream is one of the oldest and most trusted recreational vehicle and camper brands with good reason, and the most recent versions of the Sport travel trailer demonstrate just why that is. Loaded with great features and name brand elegance, the Sport is one of our favorite small travel trailers.

Let’s start with the bathroom, which might be our favorite of all the bathrooms highlighted here. Not only does it have separate roof fan and venting, but the toilet is porcelain (unlike the heavy plastics more common in small travel trailers), the bathroom faucet genuine Moen, and the sink Lavy. The shower comes with a great showerhead, a retractable clothesline (so you can dry wet clothes items in the shower when you aren’t using it), and a towel bar. The blackwater tank is external to the trailer, too, so should your toilet water get smelly, it won’t be a problem inside the travel trailer.

And the rest of the travel trailer is loaded with similarly classy, high-end features, including great appliances (a convection oven or more standard microwave, refrigerator, and foldable two-burner cooktop), a cutting board sink cover, an Ultraleather dinette set, Moen faucet, LED HD TV and JVC stereo, blackout shades for the panoramic front windows, auxiliary heating and air conditioning, and a great fan for when you simply need air rotation. Additionally, those windows are tempered and tinted, the TV comes with cable hookups, the roof is a white aluminum that helps keep temperatures moderate, and a ZipDee patio awning gives extra outdoor shade when you want it. Similarly, there’s an exterior shower option with both cold and hot water. Loaded with such features, it’s no wonder this is one of our favorite small travel trailers!

Barefoot Caravans

small travel trailers with dry bath

Barefoot Caravans is a special travel trailer because of the degree to which it can be customized. Designed in the United Kingdom, they will ship to the United States, and if customization is something you’re interested in, it may well be worth the extra fees. For instance, all of the following can be customized:

  • Bathroom walls
  • Kitchen walls
  • Curtains (which can be custom stitched based on your fabric preferences as well)
  • Seat upholstery (which comes in several different fabric or vinyl options)
  • The radio (a Roberts Revival DAB Mini Radio, for those interested in specifics)

Numerous colors are available for each of the above options; for most items, the colors available include duck egg blue, gray, lime green, navy blue, orange, and stone. Additionally, the curvy shape of the Barefoot Caravan makes it incredibly stylistic and modern, and this makes it additionally appealing for some buyers.

Additionally, the feature-laden design includes:

  • Eco-designed and environmentally friendly polycarbonate windows
  • Extra storage space in the form of cupboards and wardrobes
  • Roof lighting
  • Isotherm compressor fridge and a freezer
  • L-shaped seating that converts into a spacious bed

And then there’s the bathroom, which comes with a 30-liter onboard water tank and a Truma Combi hot water system that can run either via electric or gas hookups. Additionally the bathroom includes a Dometic cassette toilet, shower, wash basin, mirror, and cupboard space. Honestly, it’s a nice enough bathroom you may never want to leave!

Casita Travel Trailers Spirit Deluxe Trailer

small travel trailers with dry bath

A 17-foot trailer, the Casita Travel Trailers’ Spirit Deluxe Trailer comfortably fits three, making it a great fit for a small family. Not only can the dinette tables be converted into two sleeping areas, that versatility helps you make the most of the limited space. Built with Marine-grade fiberglass, this is the rare travel trailer you can use in any conditions or weather, including winter camping.

Additional nice touches include a 12-volt battery pack, 110-volt exterior outlet, exterior door light, connector hose so you can connect to city water (or campground water supplies), and even a freshwater tank you can lock for better hygiene.

And the bathroom is truly the star of this small travel trailer. Not only is it one of the largest areas of the camper, but the shower space and toilet are separated for optimum privacy, so you and a family member can use the bathroom at the same time. Just as nice, it comes with an industrial strength power fan roof vent and mesh screen windows so you can air out the bathroom as needed.

Storage space is also plentiful, with numerous overhead storage compartments, each of which are carpet-lined, available for stashing gear, equipment, or extra clothing.

Happier Camper HC1

small travel trailers with dry bath

Like other ultra-mini travel trailers, the HC1 doesn’t come with much. In fact, in order to get a bathroom, you need to order it with a couple of add-ons: the dry flush toilet and road shower, to be precise. But, and this is a big but: For travelers looking for something incredibly portable that can go nearly anywhere and who don’t need a ton of space because they’re minimalists to begin with? The Happier Camper HC1 is pretty much perfect.

Officially, it sleeps up to 5. Unofficially, you’d have to really, really, really like each other in order to sleep 5 in it; we think it’s best for a couple or a small family. Additionally, because it is only 11 feet long and only 1100 pounds dry weight, and comes with off-road friendly tires, it’s great for beach camping, dirt roads, and other backcountry expeditions, which is not something that can be said of very many travel trailers.

So is it ideal that you have to order the bathroom as an add-on? No. But if portability and minimalism are your goals, the HC1 is one of the best bets available. Simply order a dry flush toilet and road shower (and you’ll probably want a privacy/bathroom tent , too) and add on to what the HC1 already offers, which is substantial.

Among those features:

  • At only 1100 lbs dry weight, even many small cars can easily tow it;
  • The 100% double-hull insulated fiberglass shell is incredibly sturdy and, well, insulated;
  • The large rear hatch door makes it easy to load and unload supplies, as do the ample storage spaces scattered throughout the trailer;
  • Panoramic Jalousie windows are great for night skies and views;
  • Solar power is readily available, courtesy the contoured roof panel; and
  • It fits in a single parking space and in most garages.

  • Dry Weight: 1100 lbs

iCamp Elite

small travel trailers with dry bath

At only 14 feet in length and 6 feet 8 inches in height, the iCamp Elite is one of the very smallest travel trailers to include a built-in shower and toilet. In order to fit as much as it does in such a small space, some sacrifices had to be made, of course. For instance, the dinette converts into a bed, and vice-versa, so you can’t have the bed and dinette available to you at the same time. It does come with both an oven and a refrigerator, however, which is rare for such small trailers.

KZ Spree Escape Mini

small travel trailers with dry bath

An ultra lightweight travel trailer, the KZ Spree Escape Mini is highly customizable. For instance, it can be ordered in five different color schemes. (Check out their website for more details on each option.)

With that customization comes a range of bathroom options, from a very tight bathroom (in which the toilet and shower are pretty much right on top of each other) all the way up to a full bathroom in which the shower and toilet are much more partitioned.

Additionally, that range of custom options means you can find what works best for you. Some things are pretty consistent regardless of which option you go with, though: Upscale fiberglass exteriors, off-road package options, KZ’s exclusive Aqualon for EXP tent ends. You can expect power awnings, quality queen-sized beds, and a flip up entry step. Additionally, bunk ends are rated for up to 1,100 pounds, and the self-supporting cable system means no support poles with which to mess.

Other features worth considering:

  • Amish-crafted rustic maple cabinets
  • Cable hookup
  • Diamond plate rock guard
  • Digital TV antenna
  • LED interior lighting
  • Linoleum throughout
  • Overhead cabinets for extra storage
  • Rear bumper w/sewer hose storage
  • R-7 insulation
  • Self-adjusting electric brakes
  • Tinted windows
  • 12V converter w/charger
  • 6-gallon water heater
  • 2-Burner cooktop
  • 4 or 7 cubic foot refrigerator (depending on the options)

  • Weight: ~2,850 lbs
  • Length: 20’9

Lance 1575 Travel Trailer

small travel trailers with dry bath

Lance brand campers have a reputation befitting the fact that they’ve been building truck campers and travel trailers for more than 50 years now, and the 1575 more than lives up to that reputation. At less than 2,700 pounds, it’s hardly large, and yet it comes chock full of brilliant touches and features.

About those features? The 1575 includes all of the following and more:

  • An interior key hanger
  • Radius entry door
  • Wall backsplash accompanying the dinette
  • Spacious three-way double door refrigerator with space for up to 5 cubic feet of food
  • Wall thermostat temperature regulation
  • Shades and screens with all windows, which are Thermopane Euro with laminated fiberglass construction
  • Spare tire carrier
  • Three-burner range stainless steel stove
  • Lots of extra storage in compartment doors
  • Separate wastewater and freshwater systems

All those little touches add up to a trailer that feels homey, cozy, and comfortable from the very first moment you step inside. And that’s even before you get to the bathroom, which is one of the best for a trailer this size.

Not only does the bathroom have gorgeous dual pane skylights, making it a wonderful place to visit on a starry night, but the foot pedal-operated toilet’s heavy duty plastic construction makes it both easy to use and easy to clean, and the mirrored medicine cabinet makes it easy to store your toiletries as well.

Scamp 13’ Standard Trailer

small travel trailers with dry bath

Like the iCamp Elite, Scamp’s 13’ Standard Trailer is a brilliant little travel trailer, making the most of the space available. Coming in two layouts, only one of which includes a bathroom, the 13-foot travel trailer shows some real Minnesotan ingenuity, as the 13-foot bathroom-included version also includes a shower, beds that convert into tables, storage space in the seats, a gas stove with sink, multiple closets, and all sorts of proof that it uses space incredibly well. For instance, the 12-gallon water tank is designed for use with the bathroom (including the shower) and kitchen. Similarly, the Sani Potti toilet can be hooked up to gray water so there’s no risk of contaminating your other water. And other perks of the 13-foot Scamp Trailer include a stove cover, a microwave oven, a front porch light, vinyl flooring and fiberglass cabinets for easy cleaning, a substantially higher number of outlets and lights than many comparably-sized trailers, as well as roof-mounted air conditioning and heating.

Taxa Cricket Camper

small travel trailers with dry bath

We love this ultra-mini travel trailer. Only 15 feet and with a width of 6’11” it’s about the size of a full-size truck, and it’s dry weight of 1500 pounds means it’s easily towed. Like a few of the other smallest travel trailers on this list, it doesn’t come with a bathroom, but you can add-on an external shower and portable toilet. (If you choose to do so, we recommend this toilet and this bathroom tent .)

Unlike some of the other ultra-mini travel trailers we love, though, the Cricket Camper is expandable, with a pop-up tent that makes it much roomier when you set up camp. Additionally, it might be the most rugged and badass of all the ultra-mini travel trailers we’ve looked, designed to literally go anywhere you can pull it. And there is an add-on option for an external shower that can come with the camper if you opt to go that route.

Other fantastic features include the exterior storage. Not only are their bumper steps to which you can strap gear externally, there’s also a roof rack system and tongue mounted toolbox so you can take your outdoor playthings with you and make any necessary repairs easily and quickly. As durable as the Cricket Camper is, however, odds are you won’t need that toolbox. Still, having it so easily accessible is plenty nice. Like the Happy Camper HC1, the rear hatch makes loading easy, too.

A 32-inch by 20-inch picture window gives great panoramic views directly from the lounge. Additional storage under the bed is a nice plus, and a pop-up table provides easy lounging space while keeping the cabin from feeling cluttered. The kitchen offers a large counter with a covered sink and 6 large cubbies for prepping, cooking, and storage. The electrical system is top notch, too, with interior LED lighting throughout (including task lighting over the kitchen), Zamp solar inlets (which are pre-wired), and 120V inlets for shore power connection, enough for 3+ days off-grid. Additionally, a tow vehicle connection allows you to recharge the battery while you haul the trailer to your next campsite.

Taxa Mantis Trek Camper

small travel trailers with dry bath

The Cricket’s larger brother, we love the Mantis Trek for its backcountry and off-grid capabilities. At 19 feet, it’s a bit larger than the Cricket, but still fits in a standard length and height garage, as it folds down to a height of only 6 feet 10 inches. At that size and weight (just more than 3,000 pounds), it’s still quite easy to tow and store, and the NASA-inspired design, integrated electronics and plumbing, and off-grid capacities mean it’s ready for nearly any adventure you can dream up. Like the Cricket, it pops up when set up as your base camp, meaning you have far more room available to you than you might imagine.

The Mantis Trek is designed specifically with off-the-grid use in mind, and as such, is powered by 12-volt batteries and plumbed for propane. That propane allows for a two-burner stove and water heater, with an included Truma Combi furnace for year-round use. Freshwater tank capacity of 20 gallons and a graywater tank capacity of 22 gallons are both great for a travel trailer of this size, and a wet bath is included as a cassette toilet (4 gallon fresh water, 5 gallon waste).

The pop-up roof gives you both more room and increased ventilation, and the queen-sized bed comes with under bed storage. USB charging ports help you keep your gear charged, and the two 20-pound liquid propane tanks mean you can stay fueled up for cooking and hot water. Exterior features are designed with a rugged lifestyle in mind, including a powder-coated steel frame, front stabilizer jacks, powder-coated gravel guards, a spare wheel replete with all-terrain tire, 16 inches of clearance, torsion axle suspension, a solar pre-wired system, a crossbar-included roof rack system for strapping down your outdoor gear and toys, and a large 8 foot patio awning.

Inside the camper shell, nice touches include the birch wood kitchen, replete with plenty of extra storage, LED interior lights (including a reading light), a Dometic 12V 65-liter fridge and freezer combo, a mesh side screen door for increased ventilation, room divider curtains, and more—including the option to switch up your power sources.

The Mantis Trek is designed to run on multiple power schemes. Not only can it run off of two 12-volt deep cycle batteries, it can also run off shore power with a 110-volt converter or a solar system if set up in that way, and the additional propane plumbing is a nice touch, too, as are the electric brakes, single axle, and independent suspension system.

Fresh water capacity is 20 gallons, with a 22-gallon gray water tank and wet bath inside. Also included is a cassette toilet.

  • Dry weight: 3020 lbs
  • Length: 19′
  • Width: 6’10

United Recreational Vehicles iCamp Elite

small travel trailers with dry bath

The iCamp Elite is one of the smallest travel trailers on this list, and while it’s short on space, its diminutive size is not short on features. Heavy-duty aluminum tubing, industrial strength styrofoam, and high-gloss fiberglass construction makes this trailer incredibly hardy, and it is one of the few that handles just as well in terrible conditions. It’s also incredibly stylish and sporty.

About that size: If you’re a big person, or need a lot of space, this probably isn’t the travel trailer for you. Ceilings, for instance, top out at five feet eleven inches, and furniture is rounded to fit in tight spaces. If you’re claustrophobic, this isn’t the camper for you.

That lack of space, however, is accounted for by a feature-laden design, in addition to the obvious pluses of reducing your drag (and correspondingly, your fuel usage) compared to more traditionally-sized travel trailers.

Other features include the simple easy of towing such a small trailer, the glossy painted furniture, sweet wallpaper, and an iPod connection for better tunes. And the bathroom itself is one of the larger parts of the trailer, replete with toilet and shower. So if you aren’t claustrophobic, and are looking for easy towing options, look no further. The iCamp Elite is one of the best truly small travel trailers we’ve seen that also includes a bathroom.

A few final tips when looking at small travel trailers

Rent first if at all possible.

It can be hard to know what you want until you’ve spent some time RVing, and that’s especially true if you’re weighing multiple different options. It could entirely be the case that you know you want a small travel trailer with a bathroom but not much more than that, and the list above is lots of information, sure, but that information isn’t the same as experience.

As a result, if you’re considering buying one of the travel trailers above, we strongly recommend you consider trying to rent one if not exactly the same then similar to what you want so that you can try it for a trip or two first. Even the most affordable of small travel trailers are not exactly cheap, and you don’t want to be saddled with an expensive new toy only to find out it’s not actually what you want.

And there are plenty of sites out there that can help you find camping gear, including small travel trailers, to rent. Outdoorsy is one of our favorites.

Ask questions

Similarly, there may be camping groups in your area with which you can connect. Ask questions of members and you may well meet some new friends who will let you try their equipment as you get a sense for what you yourself want from a travel trailer. You may decide you want something bigger than the options listed here—or you may find that something even smaller may work for you. Develop your own camping experiences and let those experiences dictate what you need, and as questions arise, make friends that can help you answer those questions.

The RVing and camping communities are often quite helpful, and as you develop more friends, you’ll be surprised at how much knowledge and wisdom you can pick up in a short period of time simply by being willing to ask good questions.

Using RV toilet – cons

There are few issues t deal with while using a toilet inside your RV. Some of these issues we already saw in the beginning of this article like dealing with dumping the waste, and odor .

These are minor issues as long as you are okay dealing with that. But in some cases it can become very tough.

Imagine leakage somewhere in the unit. Just imagine what it can do. If you are full time living then you will be dealing with urgent fix.

Dumping the waste into the station can also lead to accidents . Hose may end up spilling things out. Clogging can also happen inside the unit.

Storing the hose used for black tank will also need proper storage .

While dumping the waste make sure yo are turning on the black tank valve first and then the gray tank. This will allow the solid waste to come out if any left inside the hose.

Using wrong tissue can also clog the toilet . Make sure you always use specially made RV toilet paper that can easily dissolve. Overall using RV bathroom does require you to be careful and take care of few things.

Size of black tank

How often you have to dump the toilet waste will depend on the size of the black tank available in your camper. Black tank sizes can vary based on the type of RV and its size.

Small travel trailers can have black tanks with capacity ranging between 8 gallons to 30 gallons. Some travel trailers that accommodate more people can have bigger than 35 gallons as well.

Campervans, class B motorhomes also come with toilets and the black tank capacity with them can be around 15 gallons to 40 gallons.

Fifth wheels and class c motorhomes are known for having largest black tanks which means you can go without worrying about dumping the bathroom waste for longer. Class C on average have black tanks bigger than 30 gallon and can be as large as 80 gallon. Fifth wheel too can have large black tanks in the range between 40 to 85 gallons.

Class A motorhomes have moderate sized black tanks between 25 to 55 gallons.

How often to dump the waste

So there you go. You have a basic idea on how big these tanks can be. To know how often you have to dump it, just keep 1 thing in mind. Its always a good idea to dump the waste when its full.

With modern and new campers the black tanks come with sensors that can indicate when the tank is full. These sensors will indicate different levels and with this, you can plan accordingly.

Another thing, not all campers have these sensors. If you own a low end , low cost camper then you may end up having to look inside the tank to confirm if its full. That’s kind of tough, isn’t it? But then, its your choice, if you don’t want to deal with it that way then go for a better camper instead.

Gray tanks too have indicator sensor.

Such sensors may also malfunction and therefore you need to keep them in good condition. Check this technique that helps fix such sensors.

Next is, how do you empty the tanks? For dumping the gray and black tank waste you need to make use of black tank hose that will connect from the outside of camper and the he other end will obviously go into the duping site.

There will be 2 valves generally, 1 for gray and the other for black tank. Once you have made sure the connection is proper, open the black tank valve and let it flow into the dumping site.

RV campgrounds normally have the dumping facility or you can also find such sites at different location through US. You may have to pay small fee to get the facility and in campground it can be free as well. You can simply search for RV dumping station near me on google and you will find nearest stations.

Can i put portable toilet in camper

In case you ended up buying a camper that didn’t had the toilet and now if you are winder if you could put a portable toilet then the answer is yes.

You cant use a normal home toilet into an RV, that logical isn’t it?

You can always get a portable toilet and install it in your camper. But as you may have already guessed it not that easy and simply because you are dealing with the waste you don’t really wan to deal wit. isn’t it?

There are mainly 4 different type of portable toilets that you can use with campers.

  • Dry flush toilets
  • Bucket toilet
  • Porta-potty
  • Folding toilets

Check out this article on different best portable toilets for campers and how to use them.

5 Best Small Travel Trailers with Bathrooms in 2022

By: Author The Drivin' & Vibin' Team

Posted on November 12, 2021

A travel trailer with a bathroom can broaden your options for campsites.

You can boondock in the wilderness, winter camp when facilities are closed, and even use your bathroom at a rest stop on the highway.

Having a toilet and shower onboard can enhance your travel experiences more than you may think.

Let’s take a look at small travel trailers that have bathrooms and their advantages.

Do Small Travel Trailers Have Bathrooms?

You can find some small travel trailers with bathrooms. More and more manufacturers are adding bathrooms to their tiniest floor plans. This is because they’re listening to customers who have been traveling longer, farther, and deeper off the beaten path in recent years.

And these factors make the need for a toilet and shower in your vacation home (or full-time home) on wheels all the more important.

small travel trailers with dry bath

Trailer Wet Versus Dry Bathroom

While small travel trailers with bathrooms exist, there’s still very little square footage. This can make outfitting one with a bathroom challenging, which brings us to a wet bath versus a dry bath.

A wet bath can be the space saver needed to provide the amenity of a bathroom and still have adequate living and sleeping quarters.

A wet bath is when a sink and toilet are in the shower. In other words, they’re all in one contained space. The shower may get the sink and toilet wet when the shower is running.

A dry bath provides a separate shower from the sink and toilet area. The shower is enclosed and functions like one in a traditional house. However, a dry bath offers the convenience of keeping the sink and toilet dry, and the bathroom area is usually larger than a wet bath.

So when you’re shopping for a small travel trailer with a bathroom, it’s good to keep in mind how important a large or dry bathroom is to you versus a space-saving wet bath.

Keep in mind : These are the unfortunate truths of RV wet baths.

What Are the Benefits of a Small Travel Trailer?

A small travel trailer has multiple benefits. For starters, it’s easy to tow, maneuver, and park. Many lightweight options allow you to tow with an SUV. And having a short RV allows you to park nearly anywhere.

National park and state park campgrounds often have size limitations, so a small travel trailer comes in handy.

Is a Bathroom a Necessity?

While a bathroom isn’t always a necessity, it’s nice to have. It’s definitely possible to have a small travel trailer with a bathroom. This can level up your experience when you’re boondocking or in a campground.

Having your own bathroom is more hygienic and efficient. It’s nice to come back from the day’s adventures and clean up in your space without having to walk to a public bathroom.

Is a Small Travel Trailer with a Bathroom Worth It?

We think having a small travel trailer with a bathroom is worth the investment. It gives you more options for campsites that lack public bathrooms and showers.

Having a self-contained camping unit also helps promote leaving no trace when boondocking on public lands. Of course, the downside of adding a bathroom to a travel trailer is that the cost increases. But in the end, we think you’ll be happy with a toilet and shower.

Do you prefer a dry bath or a wet bath?

13 of the Best Small Travel Trailers on the Market

Published on November 23rd, 2019 by Brian Newman

Life is full of limits, which is why the RV lifestyle is so appealing. It allows people from all walks of life to travel and explore. Just take a look at the parking lot of the Grand Canyon. You’ll see RVs of every type, length, weight, and manufacturer from every corner of the country. Many RV consumers have a desire to keep their more fuel-efficient vehicles, yet they still want a travel trailer that has all the amenities needed to take week-long trips. New construction materials are making RVs lighter, stronger, and more versatile. Features that exist in 30 plus foot coaches are now seen in trailers as small as 15 feet or less – small travel trailers.

The small RV category is unique unto itself. Big-name manufacturers compete with independent small companies. Many of the small companies create new technologies the big names haven’t even thought of yet. For our discussion, we will define small travel trailers by the following criteria:

  • They are self-contained- this means that all features are within the coach itself. Trailers that only have outdoor kitchens fall within another category.
  • The coach does not have an interior length of more than 23 feet in length. They may be a part of a series that have floorplans that exceed this length, but we will define this.
  • Dry weights will not exceed 3,500 pounds. We will focus our attention on those that are the lightest in weight. Some do go as high as 4,000, but this is an effect of materials used. Some of the trailers are a part of a series that extend out of the small travel trailer parameters. We will feature those models that fall within our small trailer limits.

Here are the 13 Best Small Travel Trailers on the Market

1. jayco hummingbird.

  • 12.11- 19.8 feet in length
  • 1,570- 3,095 pounds dry weight
  • 5 different floorplans
  • Sleep up to 4 people
  • $13,496- $27,290 MSRP

Jayco’s quality manufacturing is a benchmark in the industry. The Hummingbird line is a great introduction to the small and compact category. Each floorplan gives great examples of small trailer features. Yet their self-contained models also have full feature amenities as well.

The 17MBS is 19.9 feet in length and has a 3,095-pound dry weight. The front has a murphy bed that shares space with a sofa. This is a feature that many manufacturers use as a space saver. As a trade-off, Jayco gives you a separate toilet and shower instead of a combined wet bath for an amenity balance.

This particular coach is an off-road model with 15 inch Goodyear mud tires and a raised chassis. They seal the underbelly with a layer of Astro-Foil to protect it and as an insulator. Despite its size, there is still plenty of space for linens, wardrobe, and pantry items within.

The 17RK is the exact length and dry weight of the 17MBS but is very different. The front of the coach has a permanent queen-size bed. It has a driver-side slide out that with a U-shaped dinette and refrigerator/microwave. The kitchen counter takes up the entire width of the rear. The tradeoff is a combination wet bath.

As you can see, Jayco does a lot with the space. Even their compact trailer has its advantages. If you are looking to get into the small travel trailer RV lifestyle, Jayco is a great place to start.

2. Casita Travel Trailers

  • 16-17 feet in length
  • 1,970- 2,480 pounds dry weight
  • 5 different floorplans/models
  • Sleep up to 6 people
  • $17,225- $20,289

Casita is a family-owned business that started in 1983. Their coaches have many configurations you can choose from. Their products can travel off-road and off-season with enough room to fit everyone.

Casita designs their trailers based on two sizes. Their two-piece fiberglass shells come in either 16 feet or 17 feet. Each size then has a standard or deluxe package. The deluxe models offer an all-in-one toilet/shower wet bath and black water holding tank.

Standard packages use the wet bath area for added storage or sitting/sleeping space. This allows for more people to be comfortable. It also means you would have to rely on campground facilities for restrooms and showers. If your camping style is more off-grid, the deluxe package may fit your needs better.

Casita matches a floorplan with a model. This means that if you want the two- twin bed floorplan, you would choose the Independence model. Whichever model you choose, weight and pricing are the same. The manufacturer sets the price of their products.

  • The 16-foot standard dry weight is 1,970 pounds and is $17,225.
  • The 16-foot deluxe dry weight is 2,185 pounds and is $19,279.
  • The 17-foot standard dry weight is 2,210 pounds and is $18,320.
  • The 17-foot deluxe dry weight is 2,480 pounds and is $20,289.

3. Scamp Trailers

  • 13 to 16 feet in length
  • 1,200- 2,000 pounds dry weight
  • 7 different floorplans
  • Between $15,000- $20,000

The Scamp Travel Trailer – the iconic small travel trailers – has been a Minnesota manufacturer since 1972. Instead of mass production, each coach is built to the customer’s specifications. They can choose the size, layout, and interior features they want.

According to some owners, the building time took a matter of a few weeks. What they enjoyed the most out of the experience was the interactive experience. The manufacturer sent pictures and answered questions during the whole process.

Once completed, customers pick up their unit at Scamp’s headquarters in Backus, Minnesota. If the customer can’t get there, Scamp will go the extra mile to help their customers out. The company can deliver the RV to the customer anywhere in the continental United States.

Scamp has three sizes. The 13 and 16-foot models are small travel trailers, and the 19 is a fifth wheel . Each size has a standard and deluxe version. The 13 foot has two layouts, while the 16 foot has five. Some models have a combination toilet/shower wet baths, others do not.

Costs are unique to each trailer. Scamp does not publish their starting prices. Some owners have discussed their pricing on forums across the internet. Generally, these price points have come in between $15,000 to $20,000 depending on the model, package, and additional features they have chosen.

The 13-foot standard layouts give you either a sofa or a dinette upfront. The first layout gives you a sofa that can convert into a bunk bed. The second layout replaces the sofa for a wet bath and a second closet. In the deluxe version, the choice is between a dinette or a wet bath.

The features that stay constant are the rear dinettes that fold out to make the master bedroom. They also come with full kitchens that include sinks and small refrigerators.

Standard models offer a more basic approach to camping. Kitchens have a 1.9 cubic foot refrigerator as a part of additional packages. Many electronic features like TV hookups are optional. Customers that want to choose individual amenities may decide on these models.

Deluxe models have more of a complete package offering than the standard models. Bigger features and amenities are available. Many electronics like TV hookups, air conditioners, vinyl flooring, and other high-end features can be added.

4. Airstream Bambi

  • 16 to 22 feet in length
  • 3,000- 4,000 pounds dry weight
  • 4 different floorplans
  • Sleeps up to 4 people
  • $49,000 to $58,000

With the retirement of the Sport, Airstream further developed their Bambi series. This small coach gave the company the ability to join in on the small travel trailers market. It also stays within the weight capacities small coach campers are looking for.

It comes in a 16, 19, 20, and 22-foot floor plan. Each one has a fixed double bed, dinette, full kitchen, and bathroom. The 16-foot model has a combined wet bath, but the others have full bathrooms. Each dinette folds down to allow an additional two sleepers.

The Bambi is spacious for its size. Airstream uses light colors in the coach to keep the interior bright and enhance the open feel. They also keep to their European styling to give the unit a sophisticated look.

As expected, Airstream uses only the best when it comes to its amenities. The bed has a memory foam mattress. The entertainment system uses JBL sound equipment and an LED TV. There are also USB ports and LED lights throughout the RV itself.

Each coach has an optional solar panel system that can be factory installed. Otherwise, each one comes prewired for external solar panel setups.

5. KZ RV Escape

  • 18.10- 27.3 feet in length
  • 2,690- 3,820 pounds dry weight
  • 11 different floorplans
  • Sleep up to 10 people
  • $11,995- $29,300

The KZ Escape series is the most versatile series on our list. Within the 11 floorplans, seven of them fit into our definition of small travel trailers. Among them, there are hybrids, slideouts, and even a toy hauler that measure within 22 feet or less.

KZ designs this series with everybody in mind. Their one of the models caters to the off-road enthusiast. The E191BH sits higher and comes with 15-inch mud tires. It also has electronic-controlled heated holding tanks that help with off-season camping.

The E171MB has a unique storage feature. On the slide-out that holds the refrigerator is a storage space that has both an inside and outside access. It also has a queen-size murphy bed that shares its space with a sofa. The coach has a full bathroom and kitchen that completes the interior space.

The E171 MB is 19.8 feet in length and has a dry weight of 3,170 pounds. Your midsize-SUV won’t have any problems towing this coach.

6. Little Guy Travel Trailers

  • 17.2- 21.0 feet in length
  • 1,993- 3,140 pounds dry weight
  • 17 different floorplans
  • Sleep up to 3 people
  • $20,000- $30,000

Little Guy Trailer Company has reinvigorated the teardrop trailer for the 21st century. This RV maker has created a self-contained teardrop with modern conveniences. They keep with the tradition of the teardrop by keeping tow weights at car towing capacities.

Little Guy Mini Max is light enough to use your car/SUV crossover, yet gives you features of a full-size RV. The bright maple hardwood cabinetry contains a full kitchen. This also includes a category-leading four cubic foot fridge. Many RVs of this size don’t have refrigerators this large.

The Little Guy Max is four feet long and weighs in a little under 2,000 pounds. Many 21-foot trailers weigh more than this. One of the great features of this coach is the ability to hook up your small SUV as your tow vehicle.

The versatility of the dinette is quite special. Most fold down to a double bed. This one gives you the option of either two twin beds or a queen-size configuration. This works by having the dinette on a hydraulic and sliding bed slats that support the middle of the bed.

A lot of thought went into the wet bath of these coaches. Toilet paper covers are waterproof. The shower uses 2.2 gallons a minute to conserve water. The space allows a person to move around without knocking into the toilet while cleaning off.

RV Pro Magazine rated the Little Guy Max Best in Show for 2018 at the RVIA National RV Trade Show. The RV maker won for its nostalgic styling, modern features, and amount of storage for its size.

7. Forest River R-Pod

  • 18.4- 22.2 feet in length
  • 2,497- 3,600 pounds dry weight
  • 15 different floorplans
  • $14,500- $30,000

The Forest River R-Pod is celebrating its 10th year in production. Many of the features and amenities on this RV borrow from its big brothers and sisters. With 15 different floorplans to choose from, there is an R-Pod for everyone in this small category.

The 10th-anniversary package comes with many upgraded standard features. Furrion sound systems, solar charging ports, and seamless kitchen countertops are some. Other popular features include a pet-friendly frame-mounted utility hook for your dog.

Most of the floorplans have permanent queen-size beds. Other sleeping spaces include fold-down dinettes, bunk beds, and murphy beds. The R-Pod is a master of the ability to make the most of the space in its coach. This is why it has been so popular for so long.

Popular add-ons include a solar panel system with a 110-watt panel and a 1,000-watt inverter. Some models can have a factory built-in outdoor kitchen added as well. The R-Pod has a screen room that attaches to your awning to complete your outdoor space.

8. Homegrown Trailers- Timberline

  • 18.10 feet in length
  • 4,150- 4,350 pounds dry weight
  • Sleep up to 5 people
  • $50,000- $57,500

When tent camping does not work out for the whole family, most get into the RV lifestyle. The founder of Homegrown Trailers took that a step further. He and his team built a trailer out of sustainable materials in Kirkland, Washington.

The Timberline is an 18.10-foot travel trailer that uses green materials in its construction. Both the interior and exterior are made from wood paneling. Wool insulation creates a strong barrier against the outdoor temperatures.

The off-grid package has a 600-800 solar panel wattage to power all the electronic needs of the coach. The wet bath area gives you the option of a clean or composting toilet. For easy access, the grey water tank is external and simple to drain.

Everything about this coach is green and sustainable. They did not forget about styling and comfort. The aerodynamic shape is teardrop inspired to cut down on wind resistance. There is plenty of headroom and floorspace to allow up to five people to move around.

The coach has plenty of modern conveniences too. A full kitchen with a refrigerator allows meal preparation. Heat and air conditioning units are optional add-ons as well.

9. Oliver Travel Trailers

  • 18.5- 23.6 feet in length
  • 3,400- 4,600 pounds dry weight
  • 6 different floorplans
  • $48,900- $55,900

When you buy an Oliver Travel Trailer (a.k.a. “Ollie”), you become a member of the club. Oliver sells its trailers factory direct. They only build them per customer order. Once built, buyers pick up their trailers at the factory in Hohenwald, Tennessee.

Currently, Ollie makes the Elite I and II. The Elite I has two floorplans, and Elite II has four. The main bed is either permanent or a fold-down dinette. The third sleeping space is either a twin bed or two-seater dinette that folds down.

Ollies come with many standard features that compete with many big names in the RV world. What makes Ollie so unique are the many add-ons that others don’t offer. One surprising option is dual awnings. One for the door side, and another for the opposite side of the coach.

They also offer thought-provoking ideas. Specialized materials that clear away moisture from condensation areas. External storage baskets and receivers for bike racks. Propane water heaters and various electronic signal boosters. There are many other optional add-ons worth exploring.

Once a customer has worked with their sales representative, the order goes to the factory. Production time can take 8 to 10 weeks to build your RV. Once it’s ready, the customer comes to the factory and spends their first night in their new coach.

The buying process is as unique as the trailer itself.

10. Lance Trailer

  • 14- 25 feet in length
  • 2,600-5,875 pounds dry weight
  • 12 different floorplans
  • Sleep up to 7 people
  • $27,500- $66,400

Of the many big names that need mention, Lance is the unexpected winner. Their lineup offers nine models that are 22 feet or less in length. Only three of them have a dry weight under 4,000 pounds. They may be heavy, but their design is extraordinary.

In fact, one of their models, the Lance 2075 is the Best in Show award winner with RV Pro Magazine for 2020 . This model won due to its best technique of separating the bedroom area from the living room space. It has a queen-size bed in front and a U-shaped dinette in the rear that is on a slide-out.

The lightest model makes the best use of its 14 feet of interior space. It has a front sofa that folds out to a double bed. The rear has a full bathroom instead of a wet bath. It also includes a full kitchen.

Instead of trying to squeeze in a dinette, the designers placed two padded chairs with a small table. This allows the RVers to sit and relax in front of a big picture window. No matter how it’s used, there is still a feeling of spaciousness and relaxation.

If you look at Lance’s line up, all the models they have a focus on one point. Their small travel trailers give their users the most use of open space. The company wants its customers to have a relaxing experience, no matter the length of the RV.

11. Happier Camper

  • 10 feet in length
  • 1,100 pounds dry weight
  • Numerous different floorplans
  • $24,950 starting price

Have you ever looked around your RV and said to yourself, “I wish I had…?” If you owned an HC1 from Happier Camper, your response might be, “I have a box for that.”

This Los Angeles, California company has taken modular camping to the next level. The basis of the coach’s interior starts with 20-inch x 20-inch plastic boxes. Some are for storage. Others are more complicated. One can be the deluxe kitchen with pull out fridge, stove, and sink. Another could hold the wooden countertops for tables.

To configure the things you need, you place and stack the boxes according to what you need at the time. If you need to use the kitchen and dinette, you place the kitchen setup on top of storage boxes. The tabletop fits into the position between the seating.

At night, you place all the boxes on the same level and the sleeping pad over them. This gives you enough sleeping space for up to five people at night. With the large windows on three of the walls, there is plenty of cross breeze at night to keep things cool.

To add to the appeal, the designers gave their trailer a classic 1950’s nostalgic appeal. It comes in seven different colors you can choose from.

Additional options include a loading ramp to help you load your dirt bikes and other toys. A 100-watt solar panel and inverter. An elevated frame with off-road tires. To add space, they have a screen room that connects to the tailgate. You can also get a dry flush toilet.

With this weight and design, almost any vehicle can tow it. The honeycomb base and dual fiberglass shell are strong enough to hold anything. The Adaptiv components come in packages that add weight. With the components, you should assume around 2,000 pounds fully loaded.

12. inTech RV Sol

  • 16- 19 feet in length
  • 2,590- 3,375 pounds dry weight
  • 3 different floorplans
  • $24,890- $35,000

When most people think of small travel trailers, luxury isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. The designers at inTech have changed that type of thinking. Their line of Sol trailers has combined luxury, unique style, and small size in new ways.

The first thing you notice is the shape of their trailers. The tilt-front shape adds space without sacrificing aerodynamics. In the Dawn model, the front panoramic windshield allows those at the dinette to enjoy the view. The Eclipse places the kitchen upfront. This gives plenty of natural light while preparing meals.

The luxury-style amenities, regardless of model, give a high-class feel to the RV. The kitchen area has stainless steel amenities that include a 3.7 cubic foot refrigerator. The flooring is a woven vinyl that is a perfect combination of style and resilience to dirt and stains.

The dinettes in both models fold out into the bed in these coaches. In the Dawn, the measurements are 48 x 80. The Eclipse is 55 x 80. When you compare these to residential beds, you get the length of a queen.

The wet baths are very large in both models. Whichever model you choose, you will receive a real porcelain toilet. inTech made sure to give you plenty of room to take a standing shower and not feel claustrophobic. Their wet baths are the largest in their class.

13. Hymer Touring GT

  • 18.11 feet in length
  • 2,500 pounds dry weight
  • 1 American floorplan, 11 German floorplans
  • Sleeps up to 3 people
  • $18,995- $20,995

The appeal of European design has become a new trend in the United State in recent years. This has given consumers new form and function options. In the Class B motorhome category, European-based chassis have benefits never seen before.

Eriba RV decided to take this a step further. This past year, they decided to open a North American Division here in the United States. This German company introduced its Hymer Touring GT to America. While it may be new to the U.S., this coach dates back to the late 1950s.

The first unique feature of this coach is its expandable roof. Once opened, it gives almost a 6.4 feet height within the coach.

The current layout available in the United States has a king-size bed in the rear of the coach. This is unique since it’s truly rare for small travel trailers to have a permanent bed of this size. The front of the coach has a fold-down dinette that can accommodate an additional sleeper.

The cabinetry follows European style with its rounded fronts. This gives additional inches to each storage space. The faucet folds down into the sink and has a cover that folds on top of it. The two-burner gas stove also has a cover. This allows the added counter space for meal prep.

The bathroom is full-featured. It comes with a cassette toilet that has it’s own external bay for easy draining. The shower is big enough to clean up without banging your arms against the walls.

Another unique feature is their window and door screens. For the door, there is a hidden screen that pulls out from the side. Pull-down sunscreens and privacy shades act as screens as well. When you open the windows, the hatches act as hard-shell awnings to prevent rain and other weather from coming into the coach.

8 Awesome Small Fiberglass Travel Trailers With Bathrooms

Bigfoot 25B25FB

Fiberglass travel trailers are an excellent option for singles or couples who don’t need a lot of space and may want to travel light or have towing restrictions. However, a bathroom may be on your must-have list for your travel trailer. This could be a wet bath or a dry bath. If you are not sure how RV bathrooms work check out this link .

If you have already decided you want a small fiberglass trailer, and really need a bathroom, here are 7 small fiberglass travel trailers to consider in your search for that perfect fit.

Bigfoot 25B25FB

Oliver legacy elite ii, escape 19 travel trailer, airstream-nest.

  • Icamp elite

Northern Lite

Deciding on a fiberglass trailer.

Molded fiberglass travel trailers have advantages over other travel trailers, if you are seriously considering one you can read up about them here. So how do you choose which fiberglass trailer is the right one for you? The truth is, there really isn’t a single one that will fit everyone’s needs. Read on to learn the different aspects and features of each of the trailers listed above. They are all great units for the right family. In the end, you need to weigh what your needs are as well as your primary usage.

Bigfoot 25B25FB

The Bigfoot 25B25FB is one of the fiberglass trailers that features a full-sized bathroom. This contains a separate shower and toilet as well as a sink for washing up. There is a power fan located overhead on the roof of the unit.

The trailer does not have a bathtub. However, the stand-up shower is equipped with a solid sliding door to keep the water contained when in use. There is also plenty of storage space on the sink vanity. A large medicine cabinet is located overhead.

Another great feature of this trailer is the toilet. It has a foot pedal flushing system so there is no need to be touching it with your hands.

Some of our features of this bathroom are:

  • Full-sized bathroom
  • Solid shower door
  • Foot pedal flush system on toilet
  • Lots of storage space
  • Counter space beside the sink

Some of the things we didn’t like about this are:

While not having a bathtub may not be a problem for some singles or couples, if you are taking along any young children that need to be washed up before bed, you may want to consider this factor.

Oliver Legacy Elite II

The Oliver Legacy is another unit that contains a full-sized bathroom which features a toilet, sink, and a shower. It’s set up as a wet bath meaning there is no separation between the shower area and the rest of the room. The toilet and sink will both get wet when the shower is used. However, there’s no need to worry as nothing built into this room will become damaged from the water . Underneath the sink, there is a convenient area to hang up extra towels or washcloths.

Some of the things we like about this bathroom are:

  • Has a shower, toilet, and sink

Some of our dislikes are:

  • No storage drawers or medicine cabinet

Even though this bathroom is small, you need to remember that the entire trailer is quite compact. It still offers all the basics needed in a bathroom. The only major downside is you will likely need to dry the room after use so that the next person to enter won’t step in water when using the facilities.

Escape 19 Travel Trailer

This fiberglass trailer has an enclosed wet bath complete with a shower. The hose for this is hooked up to the sink. To use, simply start the water in the sink until it is up to the temperature you desire. Next, pull the release button to start the shower nozzle instead of the faucet, and away you go!

There is a fan hooked up to the roof vent on this unit as well as a window that can be opened to increase airflow in the room. Above the toilet is a mirrored medicine cabinet which is great for shaving while you shower. It also offers additional storage space.

Some of our favorite features about this bathroom are:

  • Contains a sink, toilet, and shower
  • Convenient mirror/medicine cabinet combination
  • Window that opens

Some of the disadvantages are:

  • Slightly cramped
  • Will need to dry area before anyone can use the toilet or sink
  • Not a lot of storage space
  • No counter space

The sink is in the corner of the bathroom but is mounted directly to the wall. This space could be utilized a bit better if it had some sort of shelf underneath. The medicine cabinet isn’t very deep either meaning you’ll need to find an area outside of the bathroom to store items such as your towels.

Airstream nest

The Airstream Nest is another wet bathroom that we are looking at. This one contains a shower and toilet. There is a small sliver of counter space, just wide enough to hold a few small items such as a razor for saving while you shower. One of the more unique aspects about this one is the three holes built into this countertop which will hold bottles of shampoo, shaving gel, or even lotion. Whatever suits you best!

There is a mirror as well as a window. Underneath the counter area is a small cabinet that is perfect for your toothbrush and a few other small items you may need in your bathroom.

Some of the best features of this one are:

  • Contains a toilet and shower
  • 3 bottle holders so your items will not fall while traveling
  • Storage cabinet

Some things we don’t like are:

  • Not much counter space

Even though the bathroom doesn’t have a sink, you still have one in the kitchen area to make up for it. You’ll simply need to get used to washing your hands in another room from where the toilet is located. The good news is that this gives you more legroom for when you’re in the bathroom.

Trillium Outback Trailers

Trillium Outback Trailers are unique in that it’s easy to pick the design and features that you want the most directly from the website. Every option you choose adds to the price so that you can ensure everything you need in a camper while still being able to make sacrifices to get the price to a point that suits you.

A bathroom with a flush toilet as well as an extended counter is no exception to this rule. It is separated from the rest of the camper by a curtain. As well, there is additional cupboard space inside for any of your storage needs.

Some of the pros are:

  • Extra cupboard space
  • Extra counter space
  • Contains a toilet

Some of the cons include:

  • Not much privacy (the room is only separated by a curtain)
  • No sink or bathtub

This is a very basic bathroom meant only for only one thing. For many people out camping, a shower isn’t a necessity. You can however choose to add an outdoor shower onto this unit. This still gives you the option to clean up real quick but you may need to invest in a curtain as well for privacy.

Scamp

The Scamp is another compact trailer equipped with a wet bath. This one is quite small but still offers both a shower and a toilet. A solid door closes for privacy when using the toilet but there is also a curtain to separate the shower area.

Some of the things we like about this one are:

  • Doesn’t take up much space in the camper
  • Contains both a shower and a toilet
  • A small window which opens for airflow

Some of the cons are:

  • No additional storage space in the bathroom

This entire camper is very small and compact. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing depending on what your needs are. It does mean that they didn’t spare a lot of area when installing this bathroom. However, you are still given the 2 basics that are needed. You will just have to wash your hands in the kitchen after use.

Icamp Elite

Icamp Elite

The Icamp elite has a wet bathroom complete with a toilet, shower and a sink. The great thing about this bathroom is that there is also plenty of storage space. Not only is there an overhead storage cabinet above the sink but also additional space on the vanity itself.

The window above slides open to provide airflow. You can also find a towel rack for easy access. You will get these cabinets wet when you shower and will probably want to dry the room as the next person who needs to use it will get wet once they enter.

Some great features about this bathroom are:

  • Full bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower
  • Opening window
  • Plenty of cupboard space

Some things we don’t like about it are:

  • Any towel on the rack will get wet when the shower is used

This is a great little camper, but you may way to keep your towel outside the door when you’re showering. That way you can easily reach it but won’t need to worry about it getting too wet beforehand.

Northern Light Trailer

courtesy of northern lite

Northern Lite has recently proposed a new Boreal 23FB which we are going to give you a little preview of as well! This is set up to have a spacious bathroom. The shower will be full-sized to provide you the luxury of washing up without being too cramped.

There will also be extra cabinet space inside the room for you to conveniently store all your bathroom supplies in one place. There will also be a separate toilet and sink.

Some of the great things about this camper are:

  • It is a dry bath, so the shower will not get the rest of the room wet
  • Also contains a toilet and sink
  • Extra cabinet space

Some dislikes are:

Once it hits the market, this will truly be an ideal fiberglass trailer for either singles, couples, or even a small family. If you don’t have a bathtub as an essential asset for your new camper, you will find this bathroom offers all that you need.

So, there you have our list of 7 great fiberglass trailers with bathrooms. Now all you need to do is decide what your priorities are. Do you just want a place for a quick clean up or to use the washroom? Or do you need to have that extra cabinet space? Hopefully this article will help you out with that choice. Happy camping!

30 Small Campers With Bathrooms: No More Annoying Trips To The Toilets!

By Kelly Beasley

Small campers with bathrooms are highly sought after in the RV world.

This is because small campers are easier to deal with when driving and maneuvering. But there are fewer of them in the market AND not all small campers have a bathroom.

Some have zero bathroom amenities, while others might lack a shower.

But the smaller they are, usually the less likely they are to have a toilet and even less likely a shower.

But small RVs with bathrooms do exist! And you just found a big list of the smallest RV with bathroom facilities.

You'll find tiny campers with bathroom facilities in this list, all under 19 feet in length.

All of them DO include a shower and a toilet.

Let's have a look!

What Is A Wet Bath VS Dry Bath?

First, understand that RVs come with what is referred to as a wet bath or a dry bath.

Here's the difference:

A dry bath means that the toilet is separate from the shower area.

When you shower, the toilet and bathroom walls don't get wet, just like any home bathroom.

A wet bath means the entire bathroom is waterproof and is designed to get wet when you shower, including the toilet.

Some people HATE this and won't get a wet bath, but others are fine with it.

A wet bath is small and designed to save space, so it's often what is found in small trailers with bathrooms.

30 Small Campers With Bathrooms

Without further ado, let's look at 30 great small camper trailers with bathroom facilities!

(Note: some of these are not made anymore but can be found in the used marketplace.)

Keep in mind many of these have multiple floorplans.

So if you don't like what is pictured, there might be other layouts or even other models in the line (some are mentioned here) that are still 19 feet long or under and have bathrooms.

Bigfoot B17FB

Length: 17 feet 5 inches

Weight: 3360 pounds

The Bigfoot is a coveted fiberglass travel trailer, made from two molds of fiberglass, much like the Casita and Scamp.

This build type lasts a lifetime when properly maintained. They hold their value better than most RVs.

It offers one floorplan with 4 different interior colors.

If you don't like the 'rat fur' on the walls of the Casita or Scamp, you don't have that in a Bigfoot.

Forest River Flagstaff E-Pro E15 TB

Length: 16 feet 4 inches

Weight: 2667

The Forest River E-Pro series also has a larger version with a bathroom, the E16BH (19 feet long), which has a dry bath instead of the wet bath featured in the E15.

The dinette can sleep as either two twin beds or as a king-sized bed! Amazing for such a small trailer.

We like the solid entry step and the exterior storage that's hefty for the size of this trailer.

However, there's no counter space aside from the dinette table.

You can get this one with a bike rack on the front.

Forest River Wolf Pup 14CC

Length: 19 feet 3 inches

Weight: 2884 pounds

We love the rear entry design, which is rare in travel trailers.

This one has all the amenities you need for a fantastic camping trip, including a decent cargo-carrying capacity of just over 1,000 pounds so you can bring lots with you to the campground.

It's a good layout with a dry bath and good counter space for the size of the unit.

Little Guy Mini Max

Length: 17 feet 2 inches

Weight: 2,320 pounds

This is one of the teardrop travel trailers people love as it has everything inside (no outdoor kitchen) and a full bathroom.

It's very short at 17 feet 2 inches long, so that you can take it about anywhere. The teardrop shape makes it easy to tow and light on the MPG. Additionally, it's a very similar layout to the E-Pro above, but this is not as tall, so it's better for fitting inside a garage.

The E-Pro is 10 feet 6 inches, and this one is only 8 feet 11 inches to 9 feet 1 inch tall.

Jayco Hummingbird Series

Length: 19 feel 1 inch

Weight: 2,890 pounds

Jayco offers three floorplans with bathrooms in this series (four, if you go back to 2020 ).

Jayco as a brand is well-known, though it's not on our top list of manufacturers (Not many are!).

If you don't want a slide-out, look for a used 16MRB. That one doesn't show up in their current brochure, but it does on their website.

The other three have a slide. Slides are a personal preference .

Be aware that if you have a slide, you may not be able to access the bathroom or refrigerator while on the way to your destination without putting out the slide.

Airstream Bambi Series 16RB and 19CB

Length: 16 feet and 19 feet

Weight: 3,000 and 3,650 pounds

Dry bath (16) and Wet bath (19)

Airstream is pretty much a household name, and their compact trailers are sure nice looking!

If you can afford one, they are sweet inside and out. These two are no exception. ( How much are Airstream trailers? )

Be prepared not to want ever to get it scratched, though.

Best to NOT get one if you want to keep it pristine, but you like to camp in densely treed areas where it can get pretty scratched up.

Forest River Rpod Series 153 and 171

Length: 17 feet 6 inches and 19 inches

Weight: 3159 and 2,714 pounds

Dry Bath (153) and Wet bath (171)

The Forest River R-Pod is a pretty popular and well-known name for making small trailers.

Strange that the smaller of these two weighs more and has a wet bath, whereas the larger weighs less and has a wet bath.

But stranger things have happened. Though WE aren't crazy about the floorplans of these two, you might love them!

Casita Travel Trailers

"Freedom" floorplan

Length: 17 feet

Weight: 2210 - 2480 pounds

Wet bath (all models)

Casita camp trailers comes in many floorplans, but the size and shape don't change.

It's a 17-foot molded fiberglass travel trailer that is always in high demand, and some units are ordered without bathrooms.

So either order a new one with a bathroom or look for used units that include a floor plan with the bathroom option.

Also, expect over a year wait for yours to be completed and delivered.

Escape E14 Hatch

Length: 18 feet 1 inch

Weight: 2770 pounds

This is essentially a toy hauler ... either you can use it to haul some of your recreation toys, or you can enjoy opening the back to make the inside of your small travel trailer seem more like an outdoor room!

Strange kitchen layout- there's a pretty substantial counter space area, but you cannot get to it.

You can use it for storage, but don't expect to be able to do any food prep there.

Pretty unique camper, otherwise.

Forest River Rockwood High Wall Series

Length: 17 feet 3 inches

Weight: 2,204 pounds

The Forest River Rockwall high wall series is a pop-up trailer with tent-like sides, so scroll on if this isn't your thing.

The nice thing about it is the 'windows' do make it feel more like you're outside when you're inside.

It's also very easy to store inside a garage and pull with an SUV due to its lightweight nature.

This is not a trailer you should use in extreme temperatures.

Length: 17 feet 8 inches

Weight: 2640 pounds

This is the second fiberglass molded trailer on our list.

These are also coveted, just like Casitas are. This trailer will cost you, but it will also last much longer than most traditionally built trailers.

It's one of the best small camping trailers money can buy.

It offers three different floorplans and also a contemporary white color inside.

Riverside RV Retro 135

Length: 15 feet 9 inches

Talk about a shorty! If you're looking for a VERY short trailer with a DRY BATH, this is it! At 15 feet 9 inches exterior length, you'll hardly realize you're towing.

This one even has a decent-sized freshwater tank at 36 gallons.

They also have the 165 with a bathroom, which is still well under 20 feet long.

Aliner Somerset Utah

Length: 18 feet 9 inches

Weight: 2760 pounds

Here's another pop-up tent camper, so keep scrolling if that's not what you want.

This type is harder to manage the interior temperature than most others in this list due to the canvas walls.

But it has plenty of amenities like a stove, water tank, and a queen-size bed, so you'll have the regular comforts of a small camper with a bathroom you need in a trailer you can park in your garage.

Happier Camper Traveler

Weight: 1800 pounds

The Happier Camper is a modular mini camper with a bathroom.

It comes with boxes that you can move around to make a dinette, office area, or bed in just minutes.

This might not be the most ideal for some, but for others, it's perfect. That decision is yours.

It's also a molded fiberglass camper , so it will outlast many of its fellow campers out there.

This is a quality product perfect for the right type of camper.

Safari Condo R1713

Weight: 1825 pounds

Talk about a unique small RV with a bathroom! This one 'pops up' but is hard-sided all around, featuring windows almost 360 degrees around the camper.

A wet bath is an option, so realize that it might only have a toilet if you're looking for a used example.

This fits better inside a garage than traditional RVs, so if that's a feature you want, this fits the bill but is better than a soft-sided pop-up.

Safari Condo is a Canadian company, and there is a long wait if you order a new one.

Nucamp Tab 320 S

Length: 15 feet 3 inches

Weight: 1946 pounds

If you want tiny, here you go! This adventure camper is only 15 feet 3 inches long on the outside, one of the smallest on our list.

It's a teardrop camper with a tiny kitchen featuring a refrigerator and stovetop but no microwave. You can sleep with it as one big bed or two twin beds.

It's cute, agile, and might be the perfect small trailer with bathroom facilities for you, especially if you want to store it in your garage.

This one is only 8 feet tall! That also means the interior height is shorter- only 5 feet 7 inches at the highest point inside, so this trailer is better for shorter folks.

Venture RV Sonic Lite SL150VRB

Length: 19 feet 11 inches

Weight: 3,160 pounds

This is the longest on the list and is the first small camper trailer with bathroom facilities with a murphy bed.

A Murphy bed is a bed that pulls down for use and pops up into the wall when not in use, and the area reverts back into a couch.

It's a good idea to use all the space in a small area, but if you aren't into making the bed every day, this may not be your jam.

Otherwise, the bathroom is quite large for the camper, including spacious bathroom closets and a walk-in shower.

Barefoot Caravans

Length: 16 feet 6 inches

Weight: 2116 pounds

You either buy this one used or you're shipping one from the UK!

But they are so cool and well-made, we had to include them.

(Note that nuCamp has released a US version .)

They are fiberglass 'egg' trailers that won't leak or rot like so many traditionally-made trailers will without lots of care.

The inside features a modern, clean design with a good amount of storage. If you're lucky enough to find one and are able to afford it, enjoy!

16 Foot Scamp

Length: 16 feet

Weight: 1750 pounds

Scamp makes a fiberglass 'egg' trailer and they are iconic.

Owners are usually hardcore fans and don't give them up. The fiberglass 2-piece shell makes for an almost indestructible trailer that will probably outlast you.

They offer 7 floorplans with this size, and the dry weight depends on which options are on the trailer. 1750 is the lightest.

They come with a fridge, 2 sinks, and can likely be pulled with a small truck or SUV.

It's one of the smallest RV with shower facilities that you can find.

13 Foot Scamp

Length: 13 feet

Weight: 1200+ pounds

Here's a smaller version of the Scamp we talked about above. It's a fiberglass 'egg' trailer that should outlive you, barring it being in an accident!

They come in standard and deluxe, with the deluxe having solid oak cabinets.

Not all floorplans have the bathroom, so if buying used, you'll have to look around.

These are highly coveted and hard to find, so if you find one, and know you want it, don't dilly dally around!

Winnebago Micro Minnie 1708FB

Length: 19 feet 4 inches

This is one of the heaviest on our list, but Winnebago does have a good reputation for decent quality, hence the extra weight.

This has no slide, but be prepared to put up and take down the murphy bed daily (unless you decide to keep it a bed full-time).

Airstream Basecamp

Length: 16 feet 2 inches

Weight: 2650 pounds

This little thing sports the classic Airstream aluminum skin and riveted construction.

Inside, it holds a dinette that breaks down into a bed, a sink, stove, wet bath, refrigerator and even a microwave.

This is another trailer on the list that is likely to outlast you if taken care of properly (and there's not much to keeping it in good shape).

It's pricey as it's an Airstream. ( Pros and Cons of an Airstream )

But if you like it and can afford it, it's a great lightweight camper with bathroom facilities.

Trailmanor Series

Length: 18 feet

Weight: 2580+ pounds

This is possibly the most unique small RV trailer with bathroom facilities on our list. It's a hard sided pop up camper , similar to the Safari Condo .

This one opens up and gets longer (25 feet open) but is short for towing.

The purpose is to keep it low for garage storage and it makes it low and easy to tow. It's a pretty ingenious design!

Keep in mind that you can't easily just stop on the side of the road to use the toilet or kitchen with this one.

Airstream Nest

Weight: 3,400 lbs pounds

The Nest was discontinued in 2020 , so there are a limited number of them on the streets as they were released in 2018, just under three years of production.

It's Airstream's fiberglass-shell trailer.

You'll find everything you need for a weekend camping trip (or for full-time RV life! We know people who have full-timed in a Nest).

It's a bit of a head-turner, so expect people to ask to see inside when you're at the campground.

Jayco Jayflight 145RB

Weight: 2330 pounds

What a cutie! It's impressive how many amenities manufacturers fit inside these small camping trailers with bathrooms.

And it's even a dry bath!

With the window-style side mount AC, the trailer is shorter than others in its class. Counter space is more plentiful in this one than most in this list.

The windows are also plentiful, giving it a spacious, non cave-like feel inside. It even has a tiny bathtub!

Coachmen Apex 15T

Not the actual 15T, but a (longer) Coachmen Apex

Length: 18 feet 7 inches

Weight: 2862 pounds

This one may feel a little tight inside but it SLEEPS FOUR!!

Yes, it has two bunks, so it's probably better for kids than adults. It has a bike rack (or the ability to have one) on the front.

The main bed makes into a sofa for day use.

It's pre-wired for solar and it has outdoor speakers, a power awning, microwave, and an outdoor camp stove.

It even has a dry bath, amazingly.

This is not a camper you'd want to spend a lot of time inside during the day (Who wants that anyway?) but if you need small AND you have kids, this works out very well. Have a look.

inTech Sol: Dawn, Eclipse, and Horizon

Length: 16, 17, 19 feet

Weight: 2650 - 3230 pounds

Here's another high-quality product from an independently-owned manufacturer, inTech RV.

They offer three trailers with bathrooms 19 feet and under that are VERY contemporary looking compared to the industry standard.

Build with an aluminum cage, they are not going to fall apart anytime soon.

They are also light and modern-looking.  They don't mass-produce these trailers, so if you want to order one, anticipate a long wait.

But if you want a well-made, good looking camper with a bathroom that also looks good, check out inTech.

Sundowner Trail Blazer Series

Length: 16 feet - 18 feet 8 inches

Sundowner sells horse trailers but they also sell campers.

In their Sundowner series, they have the 1669, 1686, and 1869.

All three are 19 feet and under in length.

Their interiors are surprisingly spacious and well thought-out. Windows aren't at a premium on these, but if you don't care, great!

If there's a dealer near you, go check them out.

Travel Lite Rove Lite

Length: 15 feet 4 inches

Weight: 1498+ pounds

The Travel Lite comes in three floorplans. This is one of the shortest trailers on our list.

Their 14BH has a travel trailer bunk bed mattress so you can sleep four, though the bunk floorplan has the least amount of counter space.

The other two sleep two so it just depends on which you like the best as far as the floorplan.

Coachmen Viking 16SFB

Length: 18 feet 6 inches

Weight: 2783 pounds

We're not especially impressed with the quality of this one, but the price does reflect the materials used for this little trailer.

It's not the smallest camper with bathroom facilities on our list, but it does qualify! It does have great storage space for the size of the trailer.

And the price is a low one compared to the others, so this is a good budget pick if you're looking at small travel trailers with bathroom facilities.

So, do you think these are the 30 best small campers with bathroom facilities?

There's something here for you, and if not, let us know what you found otherwise in the comments.

Remember, these are all 19 feet long and shorter.

Happy camping!

I dedicated myself to living the full-time RV life for over 6.5 years, immersing myself in the unique quirks and joys of the boondocking lifestyle and gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience along the way. In December 2020, my business partner and I made the transition to part-time RVing, but in January 2023, we hit the road once again, this time in our trusty vans. My mission is to help others embrace the RVing lifestyle with confidence and excitement, armed with the knowledge and resources needed to make the most of their adventures. I believe that the more you know, the more you can truly appreciate and enjoy the freedom and flexibility of the open road.

Thanks for the information most helpful in navigating what I can pull with bathroom.

Sure thing, Dany! There are others, too. Keep looking!

Great info. What do you think are the three best values for the money (cost relative to quality, features, etc) with no additional value given to a larger size.

Great question! All other things aside, if I factored in best value for the money, I’d go with any of the fiberglass trailers, used. They just don’t fall apart!

They hold their value so well, you often can buy one and sell it years later for just about the same price (or more, depending on the economy) if you kept if in good condition, and maintained it as one should.

So, Scamp, Escape, Bigfoot, and Casita. (Bigfoot is not listed, and now I’m not sure why, as they have a model under 19′ with a bathroom, the B17FB. Maybe I’ll add it in today. We wrote this years ago).

Hope that helps- just my opinion though. Everything is subjective!

Where do you place the 2022 E-Pro 20BHS model

Buying an RV means you must love the layout, among other things. The e-Pro trailers we listed were under 19′. The 20BHS is just fine long as you like the layout, brand, price, etc. If you haven’t already, we suggest getting inside one and hanging out with your family to see how it suits you. Good luck picking!

Another one to add to the list would be the Roulotte ProLite series. They have several models of small campers. Their lightest one that includes a toilet and shower weighs only 1390lbs. I was thinking about getting one, until I decided to get a motorhome instead.

The 14 Best Small Travel Trailers

small travel trailers with dry bath

Even though more people than ever before are hitting the open road and experiencing the exhilaration of overlanding, not everyone has the financial means to purchase a recreational vehicle, an Airstream Classic, or a rig that was built specifically for them. A solo weekend excursion may be enough to satiate the need for adventure in some people (even if it results in new levels of wanderlust).

Small travel trailers are an excellent choice for individuals who yearn for the thrill of exploration but do not have the resources or the space necessary to maintain the typical large vehicle associated with a bigger travel trailer.

If you’ve always had the urge to hit the open road and see the world, purchasing a small travel trailer might be the best option for you. You can attach one of these compact trailers to the back of your car and travel with all of the comforts of home.

But how do you determine which of the numerous available choices is most suitable for you? This article will examine the best compact travel trailers that are currently available on the market and provide helpful guidance for selecting the travel trailer that is best suited to meet your requirements. When you look at these mobile homes, you won’t be able to help but daydream about hitting the open road for a cross-country adventure or a quick weekend getaway.

The class of vehicles known as small travel trailers has its own distinct personality. Large corporations compete alongside newer, more nimble businesses. We will use the following definition of compact travel trailers for the purposes of this discussion:

Mini-campers are available at a reasonable price, with many models retailing for less than $10,000. On the other hand, the price will be significantly higher if there are any conveniences (like a bathroom) present. On the other hand, given their diminutive size and low weight, they are remarkably simple to manipulate. In addition, the overwhelming majority can be transported using a standard automobile.

In this article, we will be focusing on lightweight camping trailers that have a GVWR of less than 3,550 pounds and a length of less than 23 feet. These are the types of trailers that can be easily towed by a midsize truck or SUV (and in some cases, even a regular sedan) to fit in an average-sized garage.

Trailer Specs

  • Length:  16’ to 20’
  • Dry Weight:  2,650 to 3,400 pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity:  2-4

Although the Basecamp does not look like other Airstream travel trailers, it is built to meet the high-quality standards of the company. In fact, its low profile and aerodynamic shape naturally lower wind resistance.

In a time when sleek forms, industrial materials, and vintage aesthetics are all the rage, it’s no surprise that Airstream trailers are selling like hotcakes. This is all expertly blended in the Airstream.

Their signature curved metal architecture is not only striking in appearance but also expertly crafted. It’s no different for the Airstream Basecamp. Both of these floor plans make the most of their 16 square feet by providing spacious interiors and well-considered layouts.

There is also a wet bathroom and bench seating that converts into a full-size bed inside the Basecamp. The front kitchen has a two-burner gas stove, a sink, a microwave, and a small refrigerator.

The Airstream Basecamp lives up to its reputation for style and functionality. The solar front window protection and the three-inch lift kit are two of our favorite eye-catching features, as they keep the interior cooler on hot, sunny days and increase off-grid driving clearance.

The dinette’s back section converts into a bathroom with a shower, and the space can also be used as sleeping quarters for four. Meanwhile, the base model offers enough space for six people to sleep comfortably.

The Casita’s lightweight construction features an impressive 50 cubic feet of storage space, a remarkable feature not often found in small camping trailers with bathrooms.

The large windows and a rooftop air conditioner allow for optimal air circulation. A 16-gallon freshwater tank and a 13-gallon gray tank are standard but can be upgraded to 25 and 32-gallon tanks, respectively.

The bathroom is a typical shower/toilet combination but it feels more extensive than standard combination setups. Since the Deluxe models include a bathroom, they have 15-gallon black holding tanks. Additionally, you’ll find a two-burner cooktop, a 4-cubic foot refrigerator, and space for a microwave in the kitchen.

  • 7 distinct floor plans
  • Up to four people can be accommodated
  • $15,000 to $20,000

Since 1972, Minnesota has produced the iconic Scamp Travel Trailer. Instead of mass production, each coach is built to the customer’s specifications. They can select the size, layout, and interior features that they want.

According to some owners, the construction took only a few weeks. The interactive aspect of the experience was what they enjoyed the most. Throughout the process, the manufacturer sent pictures and responded to questions.

Customers can pick up their finished unit at Scamp’s headquarters in Backus, Minnesota. If a customer is unable to arrive, Scamp will go above and beyond to assist them. The RV can be delivered to the customer anywhere in the continental United States.

Scamp comes in three different sizes. The 13- and 16-foot models are small travel trailers, while the 19 is a fifth wheel. Each size has a standard version and a deluxe version. The 13-footer has two layouts, while the 16-footer has five. Some models have combined toilet and shower wet baths, while others do not.

Each trailer has its own set of costs. Scamp does not publish its starting prices. Some owners have discussed their pricing on internet forums. These prices have generally ranged from $15,000 to $20,000, depending on the model, package, and additional features selected.

The 13-foot standard layouts include either a sofa or a dinette up front. The first layout includes a sofa that can be converted into a bunk bed. The second layout swaps out the sofa for a wet bath and a second closet. In the deluxe version, you can choose between a dinette and a wet bath.

The rear dinettes that fold out to form the master bedroom remain constant. They also have full kitchens with sinks and small refrigerators.

Standard models provide a more basic approach to camping. Additional packages include a 1.9 cubic foot refrigerator in kitchens. Many electronic features, such as TV hookups, are optional. Customers who want to customize their amenities can choose from these models.

Deluxe models have a more comprehensive package offering than standard models. Larger features and amenities are available. Many electronics, such as TV hookups, air conditioners, vinyl flooring, and other high-end features, can be added.

KZ created this series with everyone in mind. One of their models is aimed at off-road enthusiasts. The E191BH is taller and has 15-inch mud tires. It also has heated holding tanks that are electronically controlled, which is useful for off-season camping.

The E171MB has a one-of-a-kind storage feature. A storage space with both inside and outside access is located on the slide-out that houses the refrigerator. There is also a queen-size Murphy bed that shares space with a sofa. A full kitchen and bathroom complete the interior of the coach.

The teardrop trailer was given new life by Little Guy Trailer Company, which brought it into the modern era. This RV manufacturer has introduced a fully functional teardrop with all the latest amenities. They honor the teardrop’s heritage by adhering to the maximum weight that a car can tow.

The Little Guy Mini Max is a lightweight RV that still has all the amenities of a larger model. A complete kitchen is hidden within the light maple hardwood cabinetry. A top-of-the-line four-cubic-foot refrigerator is included. A refrigerator of this size is unusual in RVs of this size.

Max the Small Guy is only four feet in length and weighs around 1,900 kilograms. Many 21-foot trailers exceed this weight. The ability to use a compact SUV as a tow vehicle is a great feature of this coach.

The dinette’s adaptability is one of its best features. Usually, they can be transformed into a double bed. This one can be set up with either two twin beds or one queen bed, depending on your preference. Hydraulics support the dinette as it slides along the bed’s slats to create a flat surface in the middle.

These coaches’ soaking showers were designed with care. Toilet paper wrappers are impervious to water. The water-saving shower uses only 2.20 gallons per minute. This roomy bathroom ensures that no one will accidentally brush up against the toilet while getting cleaned up.

The Little Guy Max was named Best in Show at the RVIA National RV Trade Show by RV Pro Magazine in 2018. The winning RV manufacturer had a throwback look but also included cutting-edge amenities and plenty of space.

Permanent queen-size beds are standard in most room layouts. Dinettes that fold out into beds, bunk beds, and murphy beds are some of the additional sleeping options. The R-coach Pod’s is renowned for its innovative use of space. That’s why it’s lasted so long at the top of the charts.

A solar panel system consisting of a 110-watt panel and a 1,000-watt inverter is a popular upgrade. A fully functional outdoor kitchen can be added to some models right from the factory. If you want to make the most of your outdoor space, the R-Pod comes with a screen room that can be attached to your awning.

Oliver Travel Trailers

  • It has 6 distinct layouts.

Only upon specific request do they create them. Trailers are manufactured in Hohenwald, Tennessee, and customers can pick them up there once they are finished.

Ollie currently produces Elite I and II. The Elite I has two layout options, while the Elite II offers four. There is either a fixed main bed or a dinette that converts into a bed. The third sleeping area can be a twin bed or a fold-down dinette for two.

Many of the amenities found in other popular RV brands are included in the price of an Ollie. Ollie stands out from the competition thanks to its many extra features. Dual awnings are a surprisingly viable alternative. One for the side of the coach near the door, and another for the side farthest from the door.

In addition, they provide food for thought. Condensation-fighting materials are made of specialized materials. Bicycle rack attachment points and outside storage baskets. Heating systems that use propane and electronic amplifiers for weak signals. There are a plethora of extras that can be purchased if desired.

After placing an order with a sales rep, a customer’s request will be sent to production. Your RV may take up to 10 weeks to be produced. When finished, the customer spends the first night in their new coach at the factory. Both the purchasing procedure and the trailer are one-of-a-kind.

Why Choose a Small Travel Trailer?

When it comes to travel trailers, there are endless sizes and models available on the market. However, small travel trailers have become increasingly popular in recent years for a variety of reasons.

Small travel trailers offer flexibility and freedom while traveling. Most vehicles can tow them without the need for a large truck or SUV. This means you can explore more remote areas that may not be accessible with larger RVs.

Small travel trailers tend to be more affordable than their larger counterparts. Not only is the initial purchase price lower but so are the ongoing costs, such as maintenance and fuel expenses.

Another advantage of choosing a small travel trailer is its compact size, which makes storage much easier when not in use. You won’t need an extra-large garage or storage unit to keep your trailer safe from damage during off-season months.

These smaller units often come with creative floor plans that maximize space efficiency, making them perfect for couples or families with one child seeking adventure on the road without sacrificing comfort and convenience.

There are many advantages to owning a small travel trailer for those who value flexibility, affordability, and unique design features while exploring different destinations across North America!

What to Look for When Buying a Small Travel Trailer

  • They are considered “self-contained” because everything you need is present in the trailer itself. There’s also a subset of trailers that are equipped only with outdoor kitchens.
  • There’s a cap of 23 feet on the enclosed trailer’s length. Even if it’s part of a line that also includes larger trailers, a travel trailer is still considered “small” if it’s shorter than 23 feet in length.
  • The maximum allowable dry weight is 3,500 pounds. The lightest trailers will be given priority. Due to their construction, some small campers can reach altitudes of 4,000 meters. Some of the trailers are too large or cumbersome to be considered “small travel trailers,” so keep that in mind. Below, we’ve highlighted the models that are too big to fit in our trailer.

How to Choose the Right Small Travel Trailer for You

When it comes to choosing the right small travel trailer, there are a few key factors to consider. First and foremost, think about your specific needs and preferences. Are you a solo traveler or do you have a family? How much storage space do you require? Do you prefer a compact design or something more spacious?

Next, consider the towing capacity of your vehicle. You’ll want to make sure that the small travel trailer you choose is compatible with your car or truck. Check the weight limits and ensure that your vehicle can handle it safely.

Another important aspect to think about is the layout and features of the trailer. Consider how many sleeping areas you need, as well as amenities such as kitchen facilities, bathroom options, and entertainment systems.

In addition to functionality, aesthetics also play a role in choosing the right small travel trailer for you. Look for designs and color schemes that resonate with your personal style and taste.

Don’t forget about budget considerations. Small travel trailers come in various price ranges, so determine how much you’re willing to invest in this adventure on wheels.

By taking all of these factors into account – your needs, towing capacity, layout preferences, aesthetics, and budget – you’ll be able to narrow down your options and find the perfect small travel trailer for an unforgettable journey ahead!

The Benefits of Small Camping Trailers

Small camping trailers offer a multitude of benefits that make them an attractive option for travelers. One of their main advantages is their compact size, which allows for easy maneuverability and flexibility on the road. With a small travel trailer, you can navigate narrow roads, fit into tight campsites, and even park in residential areas without much hassle. Another benefit of these trailers is their affordability. Small travel trailers are generally more budget-friendly compared to larger RVs or motorhomes. They require less fuel to tow and have lower maintenance costs. This makes them an ideal choice for those who want to explore the world on a limited budget. Additionally, small camping trailers offer convenience and comfort. Despite their size, they are equipped with essential amenities such as sleeping quarters, a kitchenette, storage space, and bathroom facilities (in some cases). These features ensure that you have everything you need while traveling without sacrificing comfort. Furthermore, small travel trailers encourage a minimalist lifestyle. Their limited space forces travelers to prioritize what they truly need for their journey and eliminate unnecessary clutter from their lives. This can lead to a more simplified way of living and promote mindfulness about consumption habits. Lastly but importantly, small camping trailers allow travelers to immerse themselves in nature. They provide opportunities for off-the-grid adventures where breathtaking landscapes become your backyard every day. Whether it’s exploring national parks or campgrounds off the beaten path, these compact trailers allow you to get closer to nature and experience its wonders firsthand. In conclusion: Small camping trailers offer numerous benefits, including maneuverability on the road; affordability; convenience; encouraging minimalism; and immersing travelers in nature’s beauty

The Drawbacks of Small Travel Trailers

When it comes to small travel trailers, there are certainly many advantages. However, it’s important to consider the drawbacks as well before making a decision. One of the main drawbacks of small travel trailers is their limited space. While they are perfect for solo travelers or couples, families may find them too cramped. This means less storage space for belongings and limited living space inside the trailer. Another drawback is that smaller trailers often have fewer amenities compared to larger ones. This could mean sacrificing certain luxuries, such as a full-size kitchen or bathroom facilities. It’s important to prioritize what features are essential for your travel experience. Small travel trailers also tend to have less stability on the road compared to larger ones. They can be more prone to swaying in windy conditions or when passing large vehicles. This may require careful driving and adjustments while on the road. Additionally, if you enjoy entertaining guests or having extra sleeping accommodations, a small trailer may not be suitable. These trailers typically have limited seating areas and only enough sleeping space for a couple or small family. Resale value can be another drawback of small travel trailers. As they are initially more affordable than larger models, their value tends to depreciate faster over time.

While these drawbacks should be considered when choosing a small travel trailer, they may not outweigh the benefits depending on your specific needs and preferences.

Small travel trailers offer numerous benefits for travelers who prefer a compact and efficient camping experience. They are easy to tow and maneuver, making them ideal for both novice and experienced campers. These trailers also provide a cozy and comfortable living space while allowing you to connect with nature.

In this article, we have explored the world of small travel trailers and highlighted some of the best options available. When it comes to choosing the right small travel trailer for your adventures, it’s important to consider factors such as size, amenities, weight capacity, and budget.

However, it’s essential to acknowledge that there are also drawbacks associated with small travel trailers. Limited space can be challenging if you’re traveling with a large group or carrying bulky equipment. Additionally, some smaller models may lack certain amenities or features found in larger RVs.

The decision on whether to choose a small travel trailer depends on your personal preferences and needs. Consider how much space you require, what amenities are essential for your travels, and what type of towing vehicle you have at your disposal.

To make an informed choice about which small travel trailer is best suited for you, take the time to research different brands and models. Read reviews from fellow travelers who have firsthand experience with these trailers.

Remember that finding the perfect small travel trailer is all about striking a balance between comfort and functionality during your outdoor excursions without compromising or breaking the bank.

Things to Consider When Choosing a Small Camping Trailer

When it comes to selecting a small camping trailer, several factors come into play. Understand these key aspects to narrow down your options. Once you have a grasp, it’s pretty easy to find a trailer that works for your camping style. Let’s get into the weeds:

Trailer Size and Weight

Begin by thinking about the size and weight of the trailer. It’s crucial to choose one that matches your vehicle’s towing capacity and still has enough interior space to keep you comfy. If you’re nervous about towing a travel trailer with your current car, consider that smaller trailers, like teardrops or pop-ups, are easier on your vehicle’s transmission. Larger campers provide more living space, but you may need to pay for a vehicle upgrade if you find that must-have travel trailer.

Small travel trailers can usually be towed with a light truck (Toyota Tacoma), a Jeep Wrangler, and/or a mid-sized SUV. In some cases, a crossover vehicle or even a 4-cylinder passenger small car can tow them.

Trailer Layout and Features

Do you know your camping style? Some camping fans prefer amenities like full-hookups. Others want to get as far from civilization as possible. Knowing how you want to live in the outdoors can help you identify the must-have travel trailer features that match your camping style. For some people that means buying a trailer with a well-equipped kitchenette. Other travel trailer owners only require a cozy sleeping area in their camper to be happy. And still some trailer owners must have slide-outs and foldable furniture to be comfortable. Before you review our best small travel trailers list below, first prioritize the RV features that align with your needs.

Reputation, Durability and Quality

Since your small camping trailer will serve as your home away from home, it’s crucial to choose one that is built to withstand the elements. Look for trailers made by reputable manufacturers known for their craftsmanship. Reading customer reviews and seeking recommendations can provide valuable insights. Consider the trailer’s insulation, construction, and overall build quality.

What’s Your Travel Trailer Budget?

Establish a realistic RV shopping budget for your small camping trailer. Remember, quality and additional features often come with a higher price tag. Striking the right balance between your budget and desired features in a small travel trailer is essential. Consider whether buying new or used fits your financial goals.

Safari Condo Alto

Safari Condo Alto off-road small camping trailer

The Safari Condo Alto is one of the more unique small teardrop trailers. What makes it so different is the retractable roof system.

Essentially the roof expands upward to add interior height.  You can easily go from 83.5 inches to 101 inches when the roof is open. It’s a great classic teardrop camper-looking design.

You can almost consider it a pop-up camper since the top actually pops up to increase interior headroom and space. Deinfitlet one to consider if planning any off-road expeditions.

The roof and walls are made of a plastic honeycomb core that is laminated with aluminum on one side and Alufiber on the other side.

Alufiber combines aluminum and fiberglass to create a durable lightweight material.

One interesting thing to note about the Safari Condo Alto is that they have intentionally used materials that water has little to no effect on. This camper mainly uses aluminum, Alufiber, plastic, Formica, and glass in its construction.

The 10 Best Small Travel Trailers for Full-Time Living

Small Travel Trailer for Full-Time Living

There are many things to love about small travel trailers, including their compact size, easy towability, and more affordable price.

But one of the biggest drawbacks of small trailers is they don’t always make great RVs for full-time living.

As small campers often lack interior space, features, and amenities that make full-time RVing not only doable but actually enjoyable.

The good news, however, is there are actually quite a few small trailers on the road today that make ideal full-time RVs.

So to help you find all the best small travel trailers for full-time living , we’ve highlighted 10 of the most popular choices among full-time RVers.

By providing a quick overview of each camper, including its specs, floorplan, and why it’s great for full-time living.

Plus, we also include a video tour of each trailer from actual full-timers, to show you how they live in the RV full-time .

Popular Small Travel Trailers for Full-Time Living (Smallest to Largest)

1. scamp 13 standard trailer, quick specs.

  • Average Cost : $17,000
  • Length : 13 Feet
  • Dry Weight : 1,200 – 1,500 Pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity : 4
  • Bathroom : N/A
  • Slide-Outs – None

Even though the Scamp 13 Standard Trailer won’t be for 99% of RVers looking for a small travel trailer to full-time in, due to its tiny size.

We still chose to include the 13-foot Scamp on this list.

As this ultra-compact lightweight camper from Scamp provides an important reminder that you can really live in any small camper, no matter its size or features.

And that’s exactly what Elsa Rhae and Barron from the above video prove, as they’ve lived in a 13-foot Scamp trailer for years.

Scamp 13 Standard Layout 1

Scamp 13 Trailer Standard Layout 1

Living in such a small space that’s technically only 10 feet of actual living space does require some pretty major sacrifices though.

As their Scamp floorplan, the Standard Layout 1 only offers a rear convertible dinette booth, a front bench that converts into tiny bunk beds, a little kitchenette, and a small amount of storage space.

This means that this little stand-up camper has no bathroom, which can be a real issue if you’re trying to live in the trailer.

There is, however, a 13-foot Scamp floorplan, the Standard Layout 2 that does offer a small wet bath though instead of the front bench.

But adding this bathroom reduces the sleeping capacity of the trailer by two and makes the trailer feel even more cramped inside.

Regardless of floorplan though, the Scamp 13 is only suited to full-time RVers looking for the smallest and lightest camper possible that don’t mind sacrificing convenience and comfort to do so.

Why It’s Great for Full-Time Living

  • Offers Versatile Convertible Dinette Booth
  • Includes a Front Bench that Converts to Bunk Beds for Extra Sleeping Capacity
  • Provides a Small Kitchenette for Cooking Meals
  • Lots of Windows Helps the Trailer Feel Bigger Than It Is

For more information on the Scamp 13 Standard Trailer and to find out how to order one, check out Scamp’s website by clicking here .

2. Scamp 16 Deluxe Trailer

  • Average Cost : $29,000
  • Length : 16 Feet
  • Dry Weight : 2,200 – 2,600 Pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity : 3
  • Bathroom : 3-Piece Wet Bath

If you like the idea of the above 13-foot Scamp trailer but feel like it’s just too small for full-time living, you might want to check out the Scamp 16 Deluxe Trailer.

As the 16-foot Scamp offers not only an extra three feet of living space but also offers a wet bath on most of its floorplans, including the one featured here.

Because of this, the Scamp 16 Deluxe Trailer is what’s considered a self-contained camper, as it has everything you need to be self-sufficient.

Including a place to sleep, a place to cook and eat meals, and a place to use the restroom, all without leaving the trailer.

Scamp 16 Deluxe Trailer Layout B

Because of the 16-foot Scamp’s smaller size though, this camper is really only suited for singles or couples like the ones in the above video, which upgraded from a tiny Toyota motorhome .

It’s amazing what you can do with such a small trailer that’s only 16 feet in length and 13 feet of living space though.

As this couple has everything they need to not just survive but thrive inside their ultra-compact lightweight camper.

And the best part is because this Scamp trailer is so small and lightweight, it can go places other RVs can’t and be pulled by smaller tow vehicles, like SUVs and small trucks .

Why It’s Great for Full-Time Living

  • Fully Self-Contained Travel Trailer
  • Offers a 3-Piece Wet Bath
  • Wood Cabinetry Provides a Homey Feel Inside

3. Airstream Bambi 16RB

  • Average Cost : $55,000
  • Length : 16 Feet 1 Inch
  • Dry Weight : 3,000 Pounds
  • Bathroom : 2-Piece Wet Bath

Another great small travel trailer perfect for full-time singles or couples is the Airstream Bambi 16RB, which has a length of just over 16 feet and an unloaded vehicle weight of 3,000 pounds.

Putting the 16RB squarely in the ultra-lightweight compact travel trailer category.

Despite the camper’s smaller size though, the 16RB still has everything you’d need to full-time in the RV, including a fixed rear east-to-west full-size bed, a front convertible dinette booth, a little kitchenette, and a compact two-piece wet bath.

Airstream Bambi 16RB Floorplan

Airstream Bambi 16RB Floorplan

To be fair though, because of the camper’s tiny size, it’s not going to be for everyone looking to full-time in a small travel trailer.

As the Bambi 16RB has a very tiny wet bath, which might be fine for short camping trips but can get annoying long term.

As the bathroom is not only very cramped to use but everything is constantly wet inside, including the toilet seat.

Plus, the bathroom is only a two-piece wet bath and lacks a sink, forcing you to use the kitchen sink, as both the kitchen and bathroom sink.

Airstream Bambi 16RB Interior

In addition, because this camper is an Airstream, like all other Airstream models , the Bambi offers no slide-out, which can make the trailer feel cramped inside.

Also, it’s worth pointing out that while this Bambi trailer can sleep four, thanks to its front convertible dinette booth, for everyone’s sanity, it’s best not to use this camper for full-time family living, as it’s just too small for families.

  • Provides a 2-Piece Wet Bath
  • High-End Finishes Offer a Very Premium Feel Inside
  • Has a Fixed East-to-West Bed Providing a Permanent Place to Sleep
  • Offers a Versatile Convertible Dinette Booth
  • Includes a Small Kitchenette for Cooking Meals

For more info on the Airstream Bambi 16RB, check out Airstream’s website by clicking here .

4. Forest River Viking 17SBH

  • Average Cost : $21,000
  • Length : 20 Feet 5 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 2,896 Pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity : 5
  • Bathroom : 2-Piece Dry Bath

If at this point you’re thinking that only solo RVers or couples can full-time in a small travel trailer, the family of four in the above video should show you otherwise.

As this young family, with two little ones is living their best life in a 20-foot camper .

Specifically the Forest River Viking 17SBH, a bunkhouse camper capable of sleeping five, thanks to its front full-size bed, mid-convertible dinette booth, and rear single bunk beds.

Forest River Viking 17SBH Floorplan

Forest River Viking 17SBH Floorplan

Popular with families or anyone needing to sleep a lot of people, bunkhouse travel trailers make the perfect small camper for full-time living.

As bunkhouse models offer sleeping capacity not possible in other RV trim levels and floorplans.

The Viking 17SBH offers more than just a large sleeping capacity though, as the trailer also offers a nice-size kitchenette for all your cooking needs and the first dry bathroom on this list.

As the 17SBH has a dry bath with a separate shower and toilet, which is always preferable to a wet bath in an RV, especially when you’re full-timing in one.

Forest River Viking 17SBH Interior

The bathroom in the Forest River Viking 17SBH is missing one component though to make it a true full bathroom, which is a bathroom sink and vanity.

Because of this, like the above Bambi 16RB, the Viking 17SBH requires you to use the kitchen sink as a bathroom sink as well, which is less than ideal when full-time RVing.

Overall, though this bunkhouse trailer is a great option for families wanting to full-time RV in a small travel trailer.

  • Large Sleeping Capacity Ideal for Full-Time RV Families
  • Bunkhouse Design Provides a Separate Private Space for Kids
  • Offers a 2-Piece Dry Bath
  • 12-Foot Awning Provides Extra Outdoor Living Space
  • Fixed East-to-West Bed Provides a Permanent Place to Sleep
  • Includes a Nice Size Kitchenette for Cooking Meals
  • Ample Interior and Exterior Storage Space

5. Dutchmen Coleman 17B

  • Average Cost : $20,000
  • Length : 21 Feet 5 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 2,985 Pounds

Another great bunkhouse camper great for full-time family living is the Dutchmen Coleman 17B, which has a very similar floorplan to the above Forest River Viking 17SBH.

In fact, these two compact travel trailers have pretty much the exact same layout, with a front east-to-west bed, a mid-kitchen, and a rear dry bath.

As well as rear single bunk beds, which is always great for kids.

As bunk beds provide a personal space in the RV kids can call their own, acting like their bedroom.

Dutchmen Coleman 17B Floorplan

Dutchmen Coleman 17B Floorplan

As similar as these two trailers are though, there are a few differences between the two.

Starting with the front fixed bed, as this camper offers a short RV queen bed , while the above Viking 17SBH only offers a full-size bed.

In addition, this model features a side-mount air conditioner, while the Viking 17SBH offers a roof-mount air conditioner.

Overall, though both bunkhouse campers are great, and so similar that if you’re trying to decide between the two it really comes down to personal tastes more than anything else.

As both small bunkhouse trailers make a great home for full-time RVing with kids.

  • Has a Large Fixed East-to-West RV Queen Bed
  • Includes a Nice Size Kitchenette with Lots of Cabinet Space

6. Airstream Bambi 22FB

  • Average Cost : $65,000
  • Length : 21 Feet 11 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 3,900 Pounds
  • Bathroom : 3-Piece Dry Bath

There’s nothing cheap about Airstreams, as this Airstream Bambi and the above Bambi (#3 on the list) prove.

As Airstreams are some of the most expensive travel trailers you can buy.

As the old saying goes though, “ You get what you pay for ”, and this is just as true about RVs as anything else.

Because while the Airstream Bambi, which is the smallest “Silver Bullet” trailer Airstream makes is expensive, it also offers features, finishes, and benefits you won’t find on any other camper.

Including an all-aluminum hand-riveted interior and exterior shell, high-quality modern finishes and components, excellent value retention, superb build quality and longevity, and an iconic timeless brand.

Airstream Bambi 22FB Floorplan

Airstream Bambi 22FB Floorplan

And while these things might not be as important to weekend warriors on a budget, for full-time RVers, spending a little more on the camper might make sense.

Because let’s face it, you’ll be spending far more time in the RV than your typical RVer that might only spend a few weeks a year in the trailer.

Speaking specifically about the Bambi 22FB though, this premium small camper from Airstream continues to be a top pick for full-time RVers and Airstream Owners , thanks to its well laid out floorplan and top-notch amenities.

Airstream Bambi 22FB Interior

As the Bambi 22FB offers a private front bedroom with panoramic windows, a large fixed east-to-west bed, and a privacy curtain.

As well as a large U-shaped convertible dinette booth and a well-equipped kitchen, with everything you need for meal prep and cooking.

Plus, the 22FB is also the first trailer on this list to offer a true three-piece dry bath, with a separate shower, toilet, and bathroom sink.

Why It’s Great For Full-Time Living

  • More Premium Finishes and Appliances
  • Has a Private Front Bedroom with a Divider Curtain
  • Offers a Full 3-Piece Dry Bath
  • Has a Large Convertible U-Shaped Dinette Booth for Lounging and Eating
  • Includes a Larger Well-Equipped Kitchen
  • Ample Interior Storage Space

7. Grand Design Imagine XLS 17MKE

  • Average Cost : $33,500
  • Dry Weight : 4,674 Pounds
  • Slide-Outs – 1

There are many things that make the Grand Design Imagine XLS 17MKE the perfect small couple’s travel trailer for full-time living.

However, there are four main ones that really stand out.

Starting first with its Murphy bed, as the Imagine XLS 17MKE features a front queen Murphy bed that folds away to reveal a large couch underneath.

Allowing the front of the trailer to serve as both a living room and a bedroom, which is ideal for a camper that’s only 22 feet in length.

As the Murphy bed layout allows you to maximize the space inside the trailer.

Grand Design Imagine XLS 17MKE Floorplan

Grand Design Imagine XLS 17MKE Floorplan

Another noteworthy feature of this Grand Design Imagine that makes it ideal for full-timers is its mid-slide-out.

As the trailer’s slide helps to open up the interior and gives it a much more spacious feel, which makes living in the trailer much more comfortable as well as enjoyable.

The large rear corner dry bath is also a nice touch on this trailer.

As Grand Design managed to fit a surprisingly spacious and well-equipped bathroom with an extra large countertop in this compact camper.

Grand Design Imagine XLS 17MKE Interior

The best and last feature that makes the trailer perfect for full-time RV living though has to be its large L-shaped kitchen.

As the RV kitchen in the Imagine XLS 17MKE is second to none for a travel trailer its size.

As the 17MKE has tons of cabinet and counter space, an 8 cubic foot double door refrigerator, a three-burner gas stove with an oven, a microwave, and a deep stainless steel sink with a residential-style faucet.

Making this trailer perfect for amateur chefs or for anyone that just loves to cook.

  • Murphy Bed Layout Maximizes Interior Space
  • Slide-Out Provides a More Open and Spacious Interior
  • Has a Massive Upgraded L-Shaped Kitchen
  • 14-Foot Awning Provides Extra Outdoor Living Space

8. Forest River R-Pod RP-192

  • Average Cost : $25,500
  • Length : 22 Feet 2 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 4,059 Pounds

The Forest River R-Pod is one of the most popular small campers on the road today.

But what many people don’t know is that they also make great full-time RVs.

As all R-Pod trim levels, except for the smallest teardrop (RP-107) are fully self-contained campers with a wet or dry bath .

There’s more to this Forest River R-Pod RP-192 than just its bathroom though.

As the camper is also packed with other amenities that allow it to function as a home.

Including a queen Murphy bed with a comfy sofa underneath, a well-equipped kitchenette with a large double-door refrigerator, a convertible dinette booth for two, and plenty of interior and exterior storage space.

Forest River R-Pod RP-192 Floorplan

Forest River R-Pod RP-192 Floorplan

Just because the RP-192 has everything it needs to function as a home though, doesn’t necessarily make it one, as it’s often the interior and its decor that really help the camper feel like a home.

The good news though is that this is where the R-Pod RP-192 really shines.

As the trailer has a spacious interior despite its curved teardrop shape, residential-style shaker cabinetry, designer carefree flooring, decorative window treatments, accent lighting, and mini blinds in the kitchen.

  • Has a Well-Equipped Kitchenette
  • Upgraded Interior Decor Help it Feel Like a Home
  • 11-Foot Power Awning Provides Extra Outdoor Living Space

9. Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite 2104S

  • Average Cost : $33,000
  • Length : 22 Feet 4 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 4,977 Pounds

Another popular small couples trailer that makes a great RV for full-time living is the Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite 2104S.

As this Rockwood Mini Lite, which the above couple calls home is loaded with comfort and convenience features.

Beginning with the trailer’s Murphy bed layout, which allows you to use the front of the camper as both a bedroom and a living room, thanks to the trailer’s fold-up RV queen and sofa underneath.

A nice feature the 2104S has though that not all Murphy bed floorplans have is a privacy curtain separating the front of the camper from the rest of the living space.

Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite 2104S Floorplan

Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite 2104S Floorplan

Which makes the RV particularly ideal for full-timers.

As the privacy curtain helps to provide some separation and a semi-private front bedroom, allowing one person to stay up without disturbing the other.

Beyond the trailer’s Murphy bed layout though, the couch under the bed isn’t the only place to sit in this camper, as the Mini Lite 2104S also features a large comfy U-shaped dinette booth as well.

Which not only provides a place to share a meal but also makes a great place to just hang out and relax.

Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite 2104 Interior

And because the U-shaped dinette booth is built on a slide-out, it also helps to open up the interior of this tiny camper.

Giving the RV a much more open and spacious feel than you might expect from a travel trailer that’s only 22 feet long.

The amenities don’t stop there though on the 2104S, as the camper also offers a full three-piece dry bath as well.

Plus, an upgraded small L-shaped kitchen with a battery-saving 12-volt fridge, a three-burner gas cooktop, a 21-inch gas oven, a microwave, a pantry, and solid surface countertops.

  • Has an Upgraded L-Shaped Kitchen
  • Oversized 15-Foot Awning Provides Extra Outdoor Living Space

For more information on the Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite 2104S and to see a 3D interior tour, check out Forest River’s website by clicking here .

10. Lance 2285

  • Length : 27 Feet 6 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 5,775 Pounds
  • Bathroom : 3-Piece Split Dry Bath

The last trailer on this list of small campers for full-time living certainly isn’t the least.

In fact, the Lance 2285 is the largest trailer on this list with an exterior length of 27 feet 6 inches and an interior length of 22 feet 6 inches.

Comparatively speaking though, the 2285 is still a pretty small travel trailer, as there are many campers that are 30 feet long and some that are over 40 feet long !

With that extra length and size though, the Lance 2285 is able to offer interior space and amenities smaller campers never could.

Making the 2285 model a great option for those wanting a smaller full-time trailer, but don’t want to go too small.

As they still want some of the comfort and luxury that only a larger travel trailer can offer.

And the Lance 2285 trailer does a great job of accomplishing this.

Lance 2285 Floorplan

Lance 2285 Floorplan

As this semi-small camper is on the shorter and lighter side while offering features a 24-foot camper and even a 26-foot camper never could.

As this condensed trailer offers over 22 feet of floor space, both a large U-shaped dinette booth and a couch, dual entrances, a larger kitchen, and a private front bedroom with a fixed north-to-south bed.

And because this trailer is a Lance , it offers true 4-season capability for year-round living in the trailer.

Thanks to numerous cold-weather features, like high-density block foam insulation, an enclosed underbelly, insulated and heated holding tanks, and Thermopane windows.

Making the trailer ideal for RVers that want to full-time in colder weather, and don’t always want to head South when the temperature starts to drop outside.

Why It’s Great for Full-Time Living

  • Four Season Capability
  • Has a Private Front Bedroom with a Separate Entrance
  • Offers a Split 3-Piece Dry Bath
  • Lots of Seating
  • Includes a Larger Well-Equipped Rear Kitchen
