Had never seen Sunny Sweeney so drove up to Belton for a listen. What a delight she is. Great music, great band, good story teller and great sense of humor. The weather was so nice, but I will definitely catch her again at another venue. Can't beat a free concert at Schoepfs BBQ, but she is certainly worth buying a ticket to see

She only sang for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Sang very few of best songs. Did not even do A Table Away! Performance was very disappointing and we are BIG fans!

Sunny Sweeney makes it look easy. She's j ust as comfortable commanding a stadium stage on tour with Bob Seger as she is pouring her heart out from a listening-room stool.

She is an outlier: A humble East Texas kid with super-star chops, singing her own songs made up of equal parts wit, soul, and hard truth. Four albums into a career that has earned praise from Rolling Stone, NPR, American Songwriter, and more, Sunny has drawn a loyal following. Having experienced the major label deal and, ultimately, embracing her independence -  hers is smart country music that likes to have its rock and honky tonk too, and all the better for it.

In 2020, she released a live album  Recorded Live At The Machine Shop Recording Studio , and is putting the finishing touches on a studio album slated for release in 2022.

Renowned for her thoroughly entertaining live shows, Entertainment Focus picked Sweeney’s set in its iconic moments of The Long Road festival 2022, praising her “warmth, class, style and devastating humour” and Lonesome Highway in its 15 of the best from Americanafest 2022 said she was “sassy, funny and in splendid voice throughout.”

Sweeney’s new album  Married Alone   was released to huge critical acclaim and widespread radio play last year. Appearing on many Best of the Year lists, Country Music People declared it “A classic” and Holler described Sweeney as “”A country music fireball who mixes up a Tennessee songwriting suss with a Texas taste for trouble, she’s equally capable of mixing it up with music city’s mainstream as she is the outsiders and misfits from alt-country’s fringes.”

Produced by Paul Cauthen and The Texas Gentlemen’s Beau Bedford, Married Alone navigates heartbreak, starting over, and all the steps in between, and confirms Sweeney’s place in the pantheon of great country/Americana songwriters. Guests on the album include Cauthen and country legend Vince Gill on the emotional title track.

Sunny Sweeney is a country and Americana artist from Texas, currently based in Nashville, TN. Her latest album is  Married Alone , a raw, vulnerable exploration of loss, grief, and healing recorded in Dallas, TX, and co-produced by fellow country artist Paul Cauthen and The Texas Gentlemen’s Beau Bedford. Sweeney debuted in 2006 with the acclaimed  Heartbreaker’s Hall of Fame , which announced her as an important new voice in country and Americana songwriting. 2011’s  Concrete  produced the top 40 country singles “From a Table Away,” “Staying’s Worse Than Leaving” and “Drink Myself Single,” and led to a Top Female Artist nomination at the 2013 ACM Awards. Sweeney continued to expand upon the traditional-leaning, forward-thinking sound of her earlier work with 2014’s  Provoked  and 2017’s  Trophy , both of which earned Sweeney rave reviews across the country and roots communities.

White Nights

Although the phenomenon known as the "White Nights" is not unique to St. Petersburg, in no other northern city have they received such poetic and literary acclaim. What could be more romantic than a walk along the banks of the city's rivers and canals in almost broad daylight, no matter what the time of day? No other major European city can rival this experience nor the atmosphere on the streets of St. Petersburg during the summer months - lively, friendly, romantic and bustling with people throughout the night as well as the day!

From late May to early July the nights are bright in St. Petersburg, with the brightest period, the White Nights, normally lasting from June 11 th to July 2 nd . The White Nights (Beliye Nochi) are a curious phenomenon caused by St. Petersburg's very northerly geographical location - at 59 degrees 57' North (roughly on the same latitude as Oslo, Norway, the southern tip of Greenland and Seward, Alaska). St. Petersburg is the world's most northern city with a population over 1 million, and its stands at such a high latitude that the sun does not descend below the horizon enough for the sky to grow dark. In fact night becomes curiously indistinguishable from day, so much so that the authorities never need to turn the city's streetlights on!

Nevsky prospect main attractions:.

Nevsky Prospect Today Nevsky prospect is the city’s main thoroughfare, a street of museums and banks, churches and theatres, shops and dwelling houses. Its ever changing appearance reflects all the periods in the life of St. Petersburg showing a variety of styles and a promenade along the streets seems to be similar to a travel across the times.

Anichkov Bridge Anichkov Bridge is the oldest and most famous bridge across the Fontanka River with famed four-part Horse-Tamer composition by Baron Klodt. The nearby imperial Anichkov Palace is also worth a quick look at for its elegant baroque architecture.

The Mikhailovsky castle The Mikhailovsky Castle or Palace, the most romantic building in St. Petersburg, is enveloped in mysteries. It was built for himself by Paul I, one of the most tragic figures in the line of Russian autocrats on the throne.

Singer House A historic landmark in itself, Singer House is one of the most beautiful art nouveau buildings on Nevsky Prospect. Inside the former sewing factory, visitors can find the largest and most famous bookstore in St Petersburg, Dom Knigi (House of Books).

The Admiralty The three main squares of the city – Palace, St. Isaac’s and Senate Squares – spread at the embankment of the Neva in the historical center of St. Petersburg. The centric element of the complex of these squares is the Admiralty, a symbol of Russia’s naval glory and a masterpiece of world significance, marked by a striking golden spire on top of the building.

The Cathedrals

Kazan Cathedral (free entrance). Kazan Cathedral is one of Russia’s principle Orthodox churches. The colonnaded cathedral is named after Our Lady of Kazan, one of the Russian Orthodox Church’s holiest icons, which rests inside the structure as a shine for devotees. The Cathedral became a monument to military glory: captured French banners and keys of captured cities were kept in it and famous Russian army commander Kutuzov was buried here. The heroic atmosphere of those years could be sensed in the inner décor of the cathedral looking like a majestic hall.

The Church of the Saviour on blood (optional inside visit). The Cathedral was created in the best traditions of Russian art of 14-17 centuries and stands out among all St. Petersburg churches by its distinct national appearance. It is lavishly embellished decorative windows, ornamental bands and glazed bricks. The ornate domes are covered with enameled sheets of copper and golden smalt. Apart from the mystique, the Church will impress you with its internal opulence. Italian marble and various different semi-precious stones were used in the decoration of the church. Be lucky to visit the cathedral in sunny weather, when it light up and shine as well.

St. Isaac’s Cathedral (optional inside visit). There is one more breathtaking view at the largest Russian orthodox basilica, built by architect Auguste Montferrand. St. Isaac’s Cathedral is the fourth dome biggest church in the world with one of the best views of the city. 100 kilograms of pure gold was used to plate the dome of the cathedral. The cathedral’s facades are decorated with sculptures and massive granite columns (made of single pieces of red granite), while the interior is adorned with incredibly detailed mosaic icons, paintings and columns made of malachite and lapis lazuli.

The Winter Palace

The Winter Palace (The Hermitage)* The Winter Palace, put up by Rastrelli “for Russia’s glory”, the largest and most ornate building in St. Petersburg, was the main residence of the imperial dynasty. A majestic example of the Russian Baroque the Winter Palace within two centuries developed into an immense complex of palaces.

Palace Square This large square (5 hectares in area) ranks with the most perfect ensembles in world architecture. Winter Palace by Rastrelli is the most prominent architect of the reign of Elizabeth I. Until 1917 the palace with its 1500 rooms remained the imperial residence. The General Staff building, the best creation of Carlo Rossi, is made unique by its majestic triumphal arch crowned with the Chariot of Glory.

The Bronze Horseman This statue is one of the symbols of Saint Petersburg. The monument to the Peter the Great – the founder of the northern capital was the first sculptural memorial in Russia. Catherin the Great invited for its creation the French sculptor Etienne-Maurice Falconet. The Bronze Horseman is the focus of Senate Square encircled by classical lines of Senate and Synod buildings as well as giant St. Isaac’s cathedral and the west side wing of the Admiralty.

Peter and Paul Fortress (Optional visit).

The Peter and Paul Fortress is certainly no less of a St. Petersburg landmark than Hermitage or the Mariinsky theatre. The birthplace of the city it was the first structure to be built in St. Petersburg and it never served for defence. Instead it has had a rich history as a military base, a home of government departments, the burial ground of the Russian Imperial family, the site of groundbreaking scientific experiments, and a forbidding jail that held some of Russia’s most prominent political prisoners.

The Peter and Paul Cathedral is the oldest church in St. Petersburg, and also the second-tallest building in the city (after the television tower). It is intimately linked to both the history of the city and to the Romanov dynasty, as it is home to most of the Romanov rulers of Russia from Peter the Great onward. Peter’s grave is at the front right, and people still leave fresh flowers on it.
