When do you use take sb to and take sb for/on it is a pleasure to take you to a sightseeing tour of my city--> wrong. it is a pleasure to take you for/on a sightseeing tour of my city--> right. Why?
Senior Member
Hi They are both correct, but have different meanings.
gringuitoloco
I'm going to take you for a ride---means you will drive someone around, like in a car. I'm going to take you to a ride--means you will bring someone to some type of amusement ride, like a ferris wheel. In your example, using "to" means bringing to a LOCATION that does sightseeing tours. Using "for" means bringing on an actual sightseeing tour. Also, It is a pleasure sounds weird...It seems as though you should say "It was a pleasure."
you re right, i wanted to say "it was a pleasure". So, to sum up, take sb to is for a place, whereas take sb for is to do an activity. am I right?
Mihael00 said: you re right, i wanted to say "it was a pleasure". So, to sum up, take sb to is for a place, whereas take sb for is to do an activity. am I right? Click to expand...
It depends on the intrinsic meaning of the preposition: to + destination for = objective on = physical position (means of transport, on board a; tour bus, plane, train etc.) "It is a pleasure" is fine if you wish to pay a compliment while on the tour

Taylor Swift made big changes to Eras Tour. What to know about set list, 'Tortured Poets'
PARIS, France — Who's afraid of little old Taylor Swift adding an additional set to her already extensive Eras Tour setlist ? The singer revivified her magnum opus in La Défense Arena adding seven songs from "The Tortured Poets Department."
Swift rearranged the majority of the show, leaving only the "Lover," "Fearless" and "Midnights" eras in their original spots. "Folklore" and "Evermore" joined forces in one eight-song set. Swift also debuted several new outfits and cut some songs from the set list.
Toward the end of her show, Swift officially launched the long-awaited “The Tortured Poets Department” section of the tour after the 1989 era.
Live from Paris: Taylor Swift's Eras Tour begins again in France
Swift performed the track “But Daddy I Love Him” off the April 19 album for her ecstatic fans while wearing a new beige dress with cursive letters.

A road spiraled down the catwalk in an animation to initiate the era. The background animation showed a deserted road while large cages animated and fell on the road.
“Oh my god you should see your faces,” she sang.
She quickly segwayed into a brief moment of “So High School,” the beloved track speculated to be about her romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. She then performed the powerhouse anthem “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me.”
Swift switched to “Down Bad” before seamlessly transitioning into the lead single “Fortnight.” Stage production recreated an asylum that resembled the music video for the song with Post Malone, whose recorded harmony played concluding the song.
Dancers entered the stage in a marching band style format playing drums as she performed the wrath-fueled song “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.” Dancers Jan Ravnik and Kameron Saunders then revived Swift in a jazzy skit to set up “I Can Do With A Broken Heart,” where she debuted another new outfit.
“The End” text displayed wrapping up the era that’s likely here to stay. Other beloved tracks like “Guilty As Sin” and “Florida!” did not make the cut.
At the start of the secret set, Swift described the "Tortured Poets" set as "Female Rage: The Musical." Fans then got to hear another song from the new album as she played heartbreaking ballad "loml" on the piano as part of her acoustic set.
Set list: Taylor Swift unveils new Eras Tour in Paris with 'Tortured Poets' tracks
'The Tortured Poets Department' songs added to set list
Swift added these seven new songs from "Tortured Poets" to her set list:
- "But Daddy I Love Him"
- "So High School"
- "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me"
- "Fortnight"
- "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived"
- "I Can Do It With A Broken Heart"
The eras in a new order
Swift switched up the order of her eras in the set list. Here's how the new show proceeds:
- "Speak Now"
- "Reputation"
- "Folklore" and "Evermore" combined
- "The Tortured Poets Department"
- Acoustic set of rotating, secret songs
- "Midnights"
Check out the entire new set list here .
Songs cut from the Eras Tour set list
Swift gave a preview of the songs cut from her show in the first release of her Eras Tour movie. To be fair, she incorporated opening act Paramore during the "Speak Now" set to sing "Castles Crumbling" after "Enchanted."
- "Lover": "The Archer"
- "Evermore": "'Tis the Damn Season" and "Tolerate It"
- "Speak Now": "Long Live"
- "Folklore": "The 1" and "The Last Great American Dynasty"
The tortured poet debuted the new set in front of 40,000-plus fans at La Défense Arena in Paris.

Article top media content
Article body
The best of the best will be crowned on the ultimate stage when the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League season concludes at London's prestigious Wembley Stadium on Saturday 1 June.
This is the 69th season of Europe's elite club competition and the 32nd since it was renamed the UEFA Champions League.
Who is playing in the Champions League final?
Borussia Dortmund were first to confirm their place in the final with a 2-0 aggregate victory over Paris Saint-Germain . They will take on 14-time champions Real Madrid, who secured their own ticket to London with a dramatic 4-3 aggregate victory over Bayern München .
Where is the Champions League final?
The highlight of European football's club calendar returns to the London venue for a record eighth time, and the third in the UEFA Champions League era following the 2011 and 2013 finals.
Wembley has undergone a massive transformation since it hosted the last old-style European Champion Clubs' Cup final in 1992 , the famous twin towers arena making way for a new venue symbolised by the gigantic arch. Boasting a seated capacity of around 90,000, the new Wembley reopened its doors in 2007 and is once again home to the England national side, as well as host to the nation's premier domestic cup finals.
Wembley Stadium also hosted all three of England's Group D games at UEFA EURO 2020 , as well as two round of 16 matches, both semi-finals and the final itself , with the hosts only denied their maiden triumph in the competition on penalties against Italy. The outcome was more successful for England at UEFA Women's EURO 2022, as the Lionesses overcame Germany 2-1 after extra time to become European champions for the first time.
How to watch the Champions League final
Details of where to watch the Champions League final will appear here.
Is there extra time and penalties in the Champions League final?
Yes. If the score is level at the end of normal time, two 15-minute periods of extra time are played. If one of the teams scores more goals than the other during extra time, that team is declared the winner. If the score remains level after extra time, the winner is determined by a penalty shoot-out.
Who is the referee for the Champions League final?
The refereeing team will be announced in the lead-up to the final.
What do the Champions League winners get?
The UEFA Champions League trophy stands 73.5cm tall and weighs 7.5kg. "It may not be an artistic masterpiece, but everybody in football is keen to get their hands on it," said creator Jürg Stadelmann.
The 2023/24 UEFA Champions League winners will also automatically qualify for next season's league phase if they do not earn a place via their domestic league position.
Champions League winner rebalancing
What happens if the UEFA Champions League winners have also qualified for the league phase via their domestic league position?
Lastly, the European champions also earn the right to play against the winners of the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League in the 2024 UEFA Super Cup in Warsaw, Poland .
Who's performing at the Friday Night Show?
Rudimental will headline the first Friday Night Show in five years on 31 May to kick off UEFA Champions League final weekend in London .

Here’s the joke that crossed the line for Tom Brady during his Netflix roast
- Show more sharing options
- Copy Link URL Copied!
Tom Brady was a great sport Sunday night.
He endured jokes about his divorce , his business decisions , his love life , his multiple retirements , his former teammates , his ex-wife , his healthy lifestyle and much more — all with a smile on his face.
And that was just in the first 20 minutes of “ The Roast of Tom Brady ” at the Kia Forum that was streamed live on Netflix .
One gag, however, apparently crossed the line as far as Brady was concerned — and the seven-time Super Bowl champion wasn’t even the butt of that particular joke. The target was New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft , the man who signed Brady’s paychecks for the first 20 years of his 23-year NFL career.
After host Kevin Hart opened the show with a blistering monologue — “Why didn’t we go to the Crypto.com Arena downtown? Well, the reason why we didn’t go there is because we didn’t want to remind Tom’s fans of how much money he owes them ” — comedian and celebrity roast staple Jeff Ross kept the hits coming. He talked about how Brady was drafted in the sixth round with the 199th pick of the 2000 NFL draft “when Bill Belichick ’s dog stepped on the keyboard by accident.”
“So Tom became a Patriot,” Ross said, “moved up to New England and on the first day of training camp, that scrawny rookie famously walked into the owner Robert Kraft’s office and said, ‘I’m the best decision your organization has ever made. Would you like a massage?’”
Entertainment & Arts
If you liked Nikki Glaser’s roast of Tom Brady, wait till she flames herself in new HBO special
On the heels of her crushing performance during the Roast of Tom Brady at Netflix Is a Joke, the comedian roasts herself in time for her new special “Someday You’ll Die” on HBO May 9
May 6, 2024
The joke was a reference to Kraft being arrested in 2019 on charges of soliciting sex from a prostitute during an encounter at a Florida day spa. Kraft pleaded not guilty, and the charges were dropped the following year after his lawyers prevented video and audio footage from being used as evidence in court.
As the crowd laughed and Ross blew a kiss in Kraft’s direction, Brady could be seen shifting in his seat behind and to the right of the comedian. The camera cut to a close shot of Ross, who said “I love Robert Kraft.”
Brady then approached Ross. The NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards and touchdown passes had a bit of a smile on his face, but his tone was dead serious when he leaned in and said to Ross, “ Don’t say that s— again .”
As Brady returned to his seat, Ross laughed, put his hands up and said, “OK, OK!” He pointed in Kraft’s direction and said, “He’s having fun, look at him.” As Ross added some sincere words of praise and a salute for Kraft, the Patriots owner was shown smiling in the crowd.
Brady didn’t appear to hold a grudge and could be seen laughing during the rest of Ross’ set. The two men embraced and spoke after Ross’ performance — a scene Hart mocked by implying Ross was kissing up to the GOAT. “I heard you over there,” Hart said. “‘Tom, you all right? Yeah? Your hair’s so straight.’”
Brady absorbed many more barbs throughout the evening without feeling the need to step in again.
Our 25 must-see shows at Netflix Is a Joke
From Ali Wong to Katt Williams and Puddles the Clown, here’s our list of the 25 shows we definitely plan to check out at the Netflix is a Joke festival in LA next month.
April 26, 2024
The next day, Ross appeared on “ The Rich Eisen Show ” and insisted that Brady wasn’t really angry in that moment.
“He’s having fun,” Ross said of Brady. “It’s like that’s his dad, you know? Robert Kraft is like a father figure to him. He was just showing his love for Robert Kraft. And Robert Kraft loved it. We had a great talk afterward, and he was so happy that I gave him a shoutout and a salute. It was beautiful.”
Former Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe , who also took part in the roast, called Brady’s reaction to Ross’ quip about Kraft “an authentic moment.”
“We’re sitting up there on the stage, so I can see the teleprompter, I can see what’s scripted and what’s not. And that was not scripted,” Bledsoe said Monday on “ The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz ” podcast. “That was Tom genuinely coming to his defense.”
Many others came out to take their best shots at Brady and often one another.
Kim Kardashian recovered from being booed for about 15 seconds upon taking the podium to receiving big laughs and applause for some of her quips.
“Honestly, it’s hard for me to watch people roast you, but I think enough of my family members have helped defend former football players,” said the daughter of Robert Kardashian , who was a member of O.J. Simpson’s legal team during the former USC and NFL star’s murder trial in the 1990s.
She also got a big laugh from Brady when she told him, “I think it’s so great the way you’re showing everyone that even after winning seven Super Bowls, you can still have a midlife crisis.”
Can Tom Brady unretire and be a Raiders owner? He’s ‘not opposed’ to playing, even for another team
Seven-time Super Bowl champ Tom Brady says he’s not opposed to an NFL return under certain circumstances. Can he play and still be a Raiders owner?
April 12, 2024
Belichick and several of Brady’s former teammates — including Rob Gronkowski , Julian Edelman , Randy Moss and Bledsoe , whom Brady famously replaced as the Patriots’ starting quarterback in 2001 — all had their turns at the podium, as did his former on-field rival Peyton Manning .
“Honestly, it is great to be here with a bunch of people sitting around talking smack about Tom Brady ,” Manning said. “Or as we call that in the Manning family: Thanksgiving.”
Peyton’s brother Eli Manning , who led the New York Giants to two Super Bowl wins over Brady and the Patriots, was not present for the show but offered a jab of his own on X the next morning.
“I thought about attending the Roast of Tom Brady last night,” Manning wrote, “but I did not want to Roast him for a 3rd time !!”
I thought about attending the Roast of Tom Brady last night, but I did not want to Roast him for a 3rd time!! — Eli Manning (@EliManning) May 6, 2024
Others who joined in the roast Sunday included stand-up comic Nikki Glaser , UFC president Dana White and actor Will Ferrell in character as Ron Burgundy from the “ Anchorman ” movies.
As is custom at these events, Brady got his chance at the podium — and he didn’t hold back. He said to Belichick, “I’ve been out of the game for a minute, so I’m curious, how many Super Bowl rings have you won since I left? Maybe it’s not just the guy on the sideline. When I go to the Indy 500, I don’t ask the winning driver, ‘Hey, who gassed up your car?’”
Why Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer are bearing down to run a 5K with their fans
Podcast hosts and comics Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer are rallying their fans and fellow comedians for a run at Rose Bowl.

He even (jokingly) admitted to Deflategate . “The NFL spent $20 million and found that it was ‘more probable than not’ that I was ‘generally aware’ that someone may have deflated my footballs. You should’ve just given me the $20 million and I would’ve told you I f— did it.”
Brady was also one of several speakers who made jokes at the expense of Aaron Hernandez , the former Patriots tight end who hanged himself in a prison cell in 2017 while serving a life sentence for first-degree murder. Hernandez, whose death was ruled a suicide, was later determined to have had CTE and early brain atrophy .
TMZ reports that Hernandez’s former fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins Hernandez , the mother of their 11-year-old daughter, thinks those jokes went too far.
“It’s sad that I’m trying to raise my children in such a cruel world,” she told the website.

The best thing about sports is that insane, unpredictable things happen yearly . In college football, while the cream always rises to the top, there will always be those underdog stories. Comparing Ohio State to an underdog is a tad…misguided. However, one of the few dents in the armor that is the 2024 edition of the Buckeyes is the uncertainty at the quarterback position. Will Howard looks like he’s the favorite to be the next starter in the scarlet and gray. Despite the supporting cast, Howard is being overlooked.
Heading into 2024, Howard has been at the collegiate level for four years and has looked to what could be greener pastures. He’s coming off a good-not-great season and has an absolutely loaded supporting cast. It doesn’t take too much brainpower to think back to another quarterback with a similar production and situation.
Will Ohio State’s Howard have a 2019 LSU Joe Burrow -like jump?
A Legendary Precedent for Will Howard’s Expectations
Similar production.
In possibly the most surface-level piece of analysis, one could look at the stats of both Howard and Burrow heading into their fifth seasons. Howard is coming off a season where he threw for 2,643 yards and 24 touchdowns while completing 61.3% of his passes and turning the ball over 10 times. Burrow, on the other hand, posted 2,894 yards and 16 touchdowns while completing 57.8% and throwing five interceptions in 2018.
The two seasons are impressively comparable. Burrow threw for more yardage and fewer interceptions while Howard had a better completion percentage and more touchdowns. Additionally, Burrow actually attempted 22 more passes than Howard.
When thinking back to Burrow’s first season at LSU, it was pedestrian. The 2018 season was nothing special and it’s widely accepted that the Burrow that took over college football didn’t exist until he was the victim of a dirty hit in the Fiesta Bowl.
In terms of careers, Howard has a significant edge over pre-2019 Burrow. In the four years leading up to that 2019 season, Burrow threw for 3,154 yards and 18 touchdowns. Meanwhile, in four years at Kansas State, Howard threw for 5,786 yards and 48 touchdowns.
There’s no question that Howard is significantly more experienced than Burrow; he’s even won a conference championship. The biggest question is whether or not Howard has hit his ceiling. Burrow proved that he had not despite not providing much to support the idea.
Ridiculous Weapons and Supporting Cast
That 2019 LSU squad is among the most elite teams ever fielded. Burrow was the cherry on top of an NFL-laden roster. In the following draft, LSU had 14 players selected with five first-round picks. In the 2021 draft, the Tigers sent seven players which included a top-five pick. The 2022 draft had another top-three pick to go with 10 total selections. The LSU roster was loaded from top to bottom.
Now, some of those players are among the best in the NFL. Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson are widely regarded as two of the top three receivers at worst. Derek Stingley, Jr. was a true freshman in 2019 when he hauled in six interceptions before ending up as a top-three pick in 2022.
While the offensive weapons discussion may lean in favor of LSU (for now), the Ohio State defense is set to be better than what LSU fielded. Ohio State had, conservatively, a dozen players return instead of pursuing the draft and most reside on defense. Realistically, the thing that will hold Howard back in this discussion will be the fact he won’t have to play hero ball due to a weak defense.
The New Offense
It’s asinine to project careers but the Buckeyes appear to have plenty of talent at the wide receiver position. Emeka Egbuka is projected to be a first-round talent . Jeremiah Smith could be a freshman phenom never before seen in Columbus. Not to mention the handful of four and five-star receivers waiting in the wings.
Perhaps a factor that could both help and hurt Howard is the strength at running back. On one hand, Chip Kelly’s offense loves to run the ball and Ohio State has two NFL running backs . On the other, defenses will have to respect the duo and open things up for the passing offense.
Burrow’s Level is a High Bar to Clear
There is a very real possibility that a year-four Burrow to year-five Burrow jump is not going to be anything we will see again. In the NFL, every team with an underachieving quarterback looks to Josh Allen . With the Buffalo Bills, Allen’s developmental jump from year two to year three was unprecedented. Usually, in the NFL, that massive jump occurs between the rookie year and the second year. Burrow was one of those such players.
In college football, quarterbacks have broken out with less. Every year, we see a player with a dozen passes to his name go off for 3,000+ yards. However, 18 players in FBS history have thrown for over 5,000 years. It’s happened only once since Burrow’s Heisman campaign and it was by a guy who threw the ball 687 times ( Bailey Zappe , 2021). If Howard is going to get close, he’s going to have to be efficient. Combined, the most any Kelly-led college offense threw the ball in a single season was 426 in 2019.
Howard could certainly be in for a career-best season. The bar might be too high.
Can Howard have a Burrow-like jump in 2024? It’s possible but, overall, improbable. The pieces are there for Howard. However, it’s going to be up to him whether or not he’s remembered in a similar sense.

Met Gala tickets, which are invite-only, cost $75,000. Here's what that gets attendees.
- The Met Gala is famously exclusive.
- In 2024, individual tickets cost $75,000, while entire tables cost $350,000.
- Guests are treated to a cocktail hour, dinner, and exclusive performances.
One of the most intriguing qualities of the Met Gala is its exclusivity.
Each year, the guest list is approved by Vogue's editor in chief, Anna Wintour , but attendance requires more than an invitation — there's also a hefty entry fee.
Time reported that individual tickets for 2024's Met Gala, which is a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, cost $75,000, up from $50,000 in 2023. Tables started at $350,000.
Tables are usually purchased by design houses, brands, or companies, which then choose whom they'd like to invite to the table, which requires approval from Wintour, too.
So while only a select group of elite people experience the grandeur of the Met Gala, the rest of us are left to wonder what that entails.
Of course, there's the famed red carpet and the over-the-top fashion, but here's a peek inside the Met's walls — the cocktails, menus, exhibits, and exclusive performances attendees get to witness.
A ticket grants you the most important thing of all: access.
There once was a time when even Kim Kardashian couldn't get an invite to the Met Gala.
Amy Odell, the author of "Anna: The Biography," told Time in 2024 that an invitation was a "really huge signifier that you are 'in.'"
Eaddy Kiernan, Vogue's contributing editor and Met Gala organizer, told Vogue in 2024 that the seating chart started getting prepped in December but ultimately came together a month before the event.
"We really try to think very carefully about who's sitting next to each other," Kiernan said. "Our ideal pairing would maybe be two people who we think will just get on like a house on fire but who may not even realize that they have a lot in common. So with each person, we really do take time to think, 'What will they talk about?'" she said.
Such access and quality seating have the potential to yield incredible business outcomes.
With access secured, attendees walk the red carpet in outfits meticulously planned according to the dress code and theme.
Here's Blake Lively at the 2018 Met Gala, which was themed "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination."
Once inside, they mingle during cocktail hour.
Guests of the 2019 Met Gala could enjoy "crispy sea bass hors d'oeuvres, bits of foie gras, or mini-BLT towers," The Associated Press reported.
And, of course, it wouldn't be cocktail hour without the drinks.
Here's a tray of one of the signature cocktails served at 2023's gala.
Guests also have the opportunity to view the Met's exhibit during cocktail hour.
2021's exhibit was "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion."
The Metropolitan Museum of Art said this exhibit included about 100 men's and women's ensembles from the 1940s to the present, each displayed in cases representing 3D quilt patches. The exhibit was organized into 12 sections, exploring emotions such as joy, wonder, desire, and nostalgia.
After cocktail hour, guests take their seats for a formal dinner.
In accordance with 2023's theme, "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," the tablescape was inspired by the wedding reception Lagerfeld hosted for Paloma Picasso in 1978.
Vogue reported the tables included "French linen napkins, varnished hand-painted candelabras, and bouquets with Red Command and Coral Charm peonies."
Like the decor, the evening's menu was created with Lagerfeld in mind. It had "chilled spring pea soup with baby vegetables, lemon crème fraîche, and truffle snow, followed by Ōra King salmon with vegetable nage, asparagus, picked strawberries, and radish," Vogue reported.
2023 Met Gala caterer Olivier Cheng told the publication, "There is a sophisticated elegance to these pairings, one we feel that he would have truly enjoyed."
And to drink, guests were offered wine and, surprisingly, Diet Coke, a favorite of Lagerfeld's.
The menu in 2018 included cacio e pepe pasta, baby lamb chops, lobster, and branzino.
Dessert was gold-dusted truffles, chocolate-dipped cape gooseberries, and an amaretto Semifreddo cone topped with a gold pearl, Vogue reported.
Surprise performances are also a key feature of the night.
Bieber's denim-on-denim outfit was more Canadian tuxedo than "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion," but we'd still love to know how the room reacted to his performance.
The tradition of Met Gala performances started in 2010 with Lady Gaga singing "Bad Romance" as part of the year's "American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity" exhibit.
Other notable performances include Frank Ocean's "Super Rich Kids" in 2014 and Madonna's "Like a Prayer" in 2018, per The Cut .
Lizzo was the latest Met Gala performer.
Vogue reported that she performed songs such as "Juice," "About Damn Time," and "Cuz I Love You." She also played the flute alongside the flutist James Galway for a duet of "Flight of the Bumblebee."
Don't worry, attendees still have plenty of time to party.
Here are the rappers Cardi B, Bad Bunny, and Doja Cat striking a pose in 2023.
For those who can't get enough of the fun, there's an annual after-party.
The Met Gala started hosting its annual after-party in 2010.
Celebrities often change into different looks before hitting another round of red carpets and events.
2023's after-party was hosted by Janelle Monáe.
