Warning Warning Fraud of the Highest Order

This company is involved in the biggest airline ticket scams. I was searching for a ticket online to go to Zimbabwe on the 29-02-24 and returning 07-04-24 and the following day I received a message from Nancy Gill offering me 3 promotional tickets. Option 1 1095.00 pounds Option 2 926.00 pounds Option 3 812.00 pounds I then decided to go for for option 3 which I wanted to pay in full on that day but I was told that the airline will only accept a deposit of 100.00 pounds to secure the booking. I then paid the deposit and the following day I asked them if they had received the confirmation from the airline so that I can pay the remaining balance. They kept me waiting until two days before my flight when I received a message saying that the ticket price had gone up and 1075.00 pounds which was 263.00 pounds more than the original price. When I disputed the price increase I was told that if I don't pay I will lose my 100.00 pounds deposit which I had paid. I strongly feel that these company if involved in fraudulent attentivity which must be investigated and referred to the trading standards. Reading the reviews online it clearly shows that the fraud is systematic and well planned. The head of this fraud is Paul Rana who tries to justify their fraudulent activities instead of working with customers to resolve the issues. PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY BY ALL MEANS.

It didn't start off great because i was told that i had time to pay in installments as my flight was 8months away however they said the airline could set a date much sooner. I felt alittle pressured but Anna calmed my mind and helped me process the tickets i wanted even though my dates were changed, i am very happy with Anna, you can reach her on 02036171521. She was nice enough to offer to help us check in before our flights as well and book seats on the plane

Beware of deceptive practices and unethical conduct

I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with traveling recently, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. I reached out to them to book a flight for specific dates, and I was initially quoted a reasonable price. However, things took a turn for the worse after I paid the deposit. Suddenly, the price skyrocketed by an exorbitant amount, and I was left dumbfounded. When I questioned this sudden increase, I was met with excuses and vague explanations. It turns out that the agency reserves the right to change the price after the deposit is paid, without any prior warning or disclosure. This lack of transparency is unacceptable and reeks of dishonesty. To make matters worse, when I declined the inflated price and requested a refund, they issued a refund for a ticket that I never agreed to or signed for. Despite my explicit objections, they proceeded to charge me a cancellation fee for a service I never received. It's clear that their business practices prioritize profit over customer satisfaction and honesty. Furthermore, their customer service was appalling. They promised to provide an alternative ticket with flexible date changes but failed to deliver on this promise. Instead, they issued a refund for the wrong ticket and applied unwarranted fees, further adding to my frustration and inconvenience. I urge anyone considering using Travelelink to proceed with extreme caution. Their deceptive practices and unethical conduct are a red flag, and I would advise against entrusting them with your travel plans. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for a more reputable and trustworthy agency. In summary, steer clear of travelink unless you enjoy being misled and taken advantage of.

Train strikes in May 2024: Full list of dates and lines affected

Rail lines are set for disruption in the week following the first May bank holiday as train drivers at 16 rail companies strike on different days.

Thursday 25 April 2024 10:29, UK

travel link uk

Train drivers will stage a fresh wave of strikes and overtime bans in May, causing disruption to the rail network.

The strikes are part of a long-running dispute over pay.

Members of Aslef union at 16 rail companies will walk out on different days from 7 to 9 May.

Additionally, all members will refuse to work any overtime from 6 May to 11 May.

Here is a full list of the services affected by strikes and when.

Rail strike dates

Tuesday 7 May

Strikes will affect c2c, Greater Anglia, GTR Great Northern Thameslink, Southeastern, Southern, Gatwick Express and South Western Railway.

Wednesday 8 May

Strikes will affect Avanti West Coast, Chiltern Railways, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Great Western Railway and West Midlands Trains.

Thursday 9 May

Strikes will affect LNER, Northern Trains and TransPennine Express.

Overtime ban dates

From Monday 6 May to Saturday 11 May union members will not work overtime.

Overtime bans, an action short of a strike, means some services may not be running or may be reduced as drivers refuse to work their rest days.

People are advised to check before they travel, as some areas may have no service.

How do strikes and overtime bans affect services?

Strikes tend to mean services on lines where members are participating are extremely affected or cancelled entirely, whereas overtime bans often lead to reduced services.

An underground train pulls into Leicester Square station in central London February 11, 2014. A planned 48-hour strike this week by staff on London's underground rail network which threatened to bring travel misery for millions has been suspended to allow further talks, unions said on Tuesday. REUTERS/Neil Hall (BRITAIN - Tags: POLITICS TRANSPORT BUSINESS EMPLOYMENT)

Are there strikes on the Tube too?

There have been regular strikes on London Underground too recently, and while there aren't any planned walkouts for drivers, customer service managers are set to walk out on Friday 26 April in a dispute over terms and conditions.

There will also be an overtime ban for the customer service managers on the following days:

Monday 29 April

Tuesday 30 April

Wednesday 1 May

Tuesday 2 May

Wednesday 3 May

Thursday 4 May

Friday 5 May

The Transport Salaried Staffs' Association (TSSA) says the action by its members is likely to cause Tube stations to close at the last minute, including on the Saturday following the strike (27 April), while TfL has said on its website "some stations may need to close at short notice".

Despite the warning, a TfL spokesperson has said they aren't expecting significant disruption.

This action follows strike action taken by the same workers on 10 April, which the TSSA said had a "real impact" with "many stations shut at short notice".

They say they are "extremely concerned" about TfL's 'Stations Changes' proposals.

"We have made it clear that our union will not accept the continued threats to our members' roles, locations, terms, and conditions to stand unchallenged," a TSSA spokesperson said.

"We will continue to take sustained action until London Underground is prepared to negotiate with us in good faith."

Commenting on the impending strikes, a TfL spokesperson said: "We are disappointed that TSSA is continuing with this strike action following a consultation process.

"While we don't expect this action will cause significant disruption, we urge TSSA to continue to work with us to help find a resolution.

"There are no planned job losses as part of these vital changes which will improve the service we provide to customers at our stations."

How can I stay in the loop?

You can use the National Rail's journey planner to see when trains are running.

Be sure to check it close to when you plan to travel, as it will be updated regularly.

Why are the strikes still happening?

Aslef rejected a two-year offer of 4% in 2022 and another 4% this year, saying it is way below inflation, and is linked to changes in terms and conditions.

Aslef said train drivers have not had an increase in salary for five years, since their last pay deals expired in 2019.

The union said after its members voted overwhelmingly in February to continue taking industrial action, it asked the train operating companies to hold talks.

General secretary Mick Whelan said the year-old pay offer of 4% and another 4% was "dead in the water".

Simon Harris flanked by ministers in Government Buildings in Dublin

Ireland plans to send asylum seekers back to UK under emergency law

Taoiseach wants to reduce arrivals through Northern Ireland amid concern that Sunak’s Rwanda plan is driving people to Ireland

Ireland and Britain are on a collision course over asylum seekers, with Dublin vowing to send arrivals to Ireland back to the UK and London insisting it will not accept any.

A diplomatic row erupted on Sunday after the taoiseach, Simon Harris, asked the justice minister, Helen McEntee, to bring proposals to cabinet next week to allow the return of inadmissible international protection applicants to the UK, amid concern that Rishi Sunak’s Rwanda plan was rerouting asylum seekers from Britain.

“This country will not in any way, shape or form provide a loophole for anybody else’s migration challenges,” Harris said on Sunday. “Other countries can decide how they wish to advance migration. From an Irish perspective, we intend to have a firm rules-based system where rules are in place, where rules are in force, where rules are seen to be enforced.”

The planned legislation follows a claim by Sunak that the Conservative party’s deterrence was working, and after it emerged that 80% of recent asylum seekers to Ireland came via the land border with Northern Ireland.

A UK government source said it would not accept any asylum seekers from Ireland without a wider deal with Brussels. “We won’t accept any asylum returns from the EU via Ireland until the EU accepts that we can send them back to France. We are fully focused on operationalising our Rwanda scheme and will continue working with the French to stop the boats from crossing the channel.”

Ireland had previously designated the UK a “safe third country” to which asylum seekers could be returned but last month the Irish high court ruled that this breached EU law, impeding further returns.

McEntee said she would shore up Ireland’s controls and discuss the return of refugees with James Cleverly and other British officials during a visit to London on Monday.

“That’s why I’m introducing fast processing, that’s why I’ll have emergency legislation at cabinet this week to make sure that we can effectively return people to the UK and that’s why I’ll be meeting with the home secretary to raise these issues on Monday,” she told RTÉ.

In an interview with Sky News on Sunday, Sunak said the Rwanda legislation signed into law last week was already having an impact because people were worried about coming to the UK.

“Illegal migration is a global challenge, which is why you’re seeing multiple countries talk about doing third-country partnerships, looking at novel ways to solve this problem, and I believe will follow where the UK has led.”

Last week, a protest in County Wicklow over proposed refugee accommodation led to violent clashes with police who used shields and sprays and arrested six people. Police said rocks and other missiles were thrown and they recovered an axe.

after newsletter promotion

There have been protests and arson attacks on proposed refugee accommodation centres and demonstrations outside ministers’ homes, fuelling anxiety over far-right agitation.

At a speech in County Monaghan the taoiseach said warning signs around the abuse of public figures should be taken seriously. “We have had too many warnings and we need to take them seriously before the unthinkable happens.”

Ireland has taken in more than 100,000 refugees, about three-quarters from Ukraine. There is an acute housing crisis that has driven up rents and homelessness and fuelled anti-immigrant sentiment. A riot last November wrecked parts of central Dublin.

Holidaymakers heading back to UK airports today may face delays, as easyJet issues a warning to travellers.

Britons flying home have been warned that the process of getting out of the airport may be more laborious than usual.

On easyJet's official website, the airline said: "We have been informed of a nationwide issue that is currently affecting all E-Gates at Passport Control in UK airports.

"UK Border Force is deploying all available resources to minimize queue times, however, there may be a delay between disembarking your plane and clearing passport control."

Britons were warned to expect delays

Queueing at airport

Electronic gates used to scan passports at UK airports were hit with a glitch on Thursday, April 25.

As a result, thousands of passengers were affected.

Early evening on April 25, Birmingham Airport said on X: "Arriving into #BHX, the @ukhomeoffice e-Gates are currently out of service due to a technical issue across the country. Please use the desks within the Immigration Hall only."

A few hours later, BHX reassured travellers: "We can now confirm that the below issue is resolved."

London Stansted also shared a similar message and later confirmed that the problem was fixed.

Last night, a disgruntled passenger at Heathrow Airport took to X: " Huge queue at @HeathrowAirport for @UKBorder. Apparently, E-gates have failed again UK-wide. #brokenbritain."

One X user agreed: "Dislike! I always dread something like this happening, especially after a long-haul flight."

easyJet offered some advice to a passenger concerned about the delays.

One holidaymaker asked on X: "@easyJet hey. I fly from Birmingham airport on Monday morning. I’ve heard about the security delays. Will bag check-in be extended to three hours before flight time or will it stay at two?"

A spokesperson from the airline responded: "Bag drop will still open two hours to departure.

May bank holiday travel chaos feared as people warned to plan journeys now

NEWS [subcat: UK] May bank holiday travel chaos feared as Brits told to plan journeys now (SEO)

Travellers are set to face mass journey disruptions over the May Bank Holiday next weekend.

London ’s Euston Station will be closed next Sunday to all but London Overground passengers.

People looking to travel are therefore advised to check for the latest updates before planning their routes, especially if they’re headed to Scotland .

From Saturday to Monday, May 4 to 6, engineers will also be carrying out major railway upgrades across the North West of England .

Those wanting to travel between Crewe, Liverpool, Warrington, Runcorn, Wigan, Bolton, Manchester, Preston and Carlisle are therefore advised to check well in advance of setting off.

The Bank Holiday misery comes after the Easter break was marred by three days of motorway and train line chaos , when severe congestion and planned works choked many of the nation’s most crucial motorways, A-roads and rail routes.

James Dean, passenger director for Network Rail’s North West and Central region, said: ‘We know there is never an ideal time to shut the railway but bank holidays continue to be the least disruptive time for us to carry out this essential maintenance.’

NEWS [subcat: UK] May bank holiday travel chaos feared as Brits told to plan journeys now (SEO)

‘With Euston closed our advice is once again to check before you travel over the long weekend, and to plan ahead by checking National Rail Enquiries to see how your journey could be impacted.

Engineering work will further see buses replace trains between Doncaster and Darlington.

In the capital, other constructions and repairs will also cause disruption between Farringdon and Loughborough Junction, between Blackfriars and Herne Hill, and between Battersea Pier and Factory Junction.

On Sunday 5, there will be no Thameslink services running from either Wimbledon or Sutton.

The Sevenoaks service will also run from London Victoria instead of London Blackfriars.

Meanwhile, repair work between Shepherd’s Bush and Watford Junction will see the Southern service suspended between 8pm on the Saturday and noon on Sunday.

Trains along that route will then be suspended again from 9pm that evening.
