Will Smith Announces Book Tour

"An Evening of Stories with Friends" comes to Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Chicago, LA, and London this November

Will Smith Announces Book Tour

Will Smith has announced a five-date book tour in promotion of his upcoming memoir, Will .

In November, Smith will bring “An Evening of Stories with Friends” to his hometown of Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Chicago, Los Angeles, and London. See the full list of dates below.

At each date, the rapped-turned-actor will be joined by “special guests” as he “opens up fully about his life, tracing his learning curve to a place where outer success, inner happiness, and human connection are aligned.”

Tickets are now available for purchase via Ticketmaster , and each ticket includes a copy of Will .

Co-written by Mark Manson ( The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck ), Will is described as part memoir, part self-hep book. “It’s easy to maneuver the material world once you have conquered your own mind,” Smith said in statement. “Once you’ve learned the terrain of your own mind, every experience, every emotion, every circumstance, whether positive or negative, simply propels you forward, to greater growth and greater experience. That is true will. To move forward in spite of anything. And to move forward in a way that brings others with you, rather than leave them behind.” New Orleans artist Brandan “Bmike” Odums painted the cover for Will using five layers, each meant to represent a different stage of Smith’s life.

Will will be published on November 9th. Pre-orders are ongoing .

Will Smith Tour Dates: 11/08 – Philadelphia, PA @ The Met 11/09 – Brooklyn, NY @ Kings Theatre 11/10 – Chicago, IL @ The Chicago Theatre 11/11 – Los Angeles, CA @ Dolby Theatre 11/18 – London, UK @ Savoy Theatre

Will Smith Surprises Jada Pinkett Smith During Book Tour Stop: ‘Hold it Down for You the Way You Have Held it Down for Me’

Mail

Will Smith surprised Jada Pinkett Smith on her book tour stop in Baltimore. The event was at the Enoch Pratt Free Libary, where the Baltimore Sun delivered details of what was said.

will smith tour 2023

“I just really wanted to come out and just be here and hold it down for you the way you have held it down for me,” Smith said. “We have had a very, very long and tumultuous [relationship]. We call it ‘brutiful.’ It was brutal and beautiful at the same time.”

Will Smith has an official quote out regarding various reveals from Jada Pinkett Smith across the media last week. The New York Times quoted the A-list actor in another interview with his wife.

will smith tour 2023

“When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties,” Smith said.

Smith added a letter to another appearance of an estranged wife, which will be on the On Purpose podcast hosted by Jay Shetty.

“I applaud and honor you. If I had read this book 30 years ago, I definitely would’ve hugged you more,” Smith wrote. “I’ll start now. Welcome to the Authors Club. I love you endlessly. Now go get some Merlot and take a rest.”

Last week, Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that she could have been Tupac’s wife. Sitting with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson for the All the Smoke podcast, Pinkett Smith revealed that Pac proposed to her while he was locked up in Rikers Island.

“Seeing him there, the condition that he was in and having to leave him there,” Pinkett Smith said. “He was in bad shape. And so, when he asked me to get married, he was at Rikers

“I knew at that time that he needed somebody to do time with him, which I was gonna do anyway. He didn’t have to marry me to do that. I’m here. He needed a rock. Because of our friendship and everything we had been through together, he just wanted to feel that solidified foundation.”

Pinkett Smith believes that Tupac would have divorced her as soon as he exited prison. You can hear it all from her below.

Willow Smith (born October 31, 2000) is an American pop and R&B singer, best known as the daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and for her single “Whip My Hair”, hailing from Los Angeles, California, U.S.

Born into life in the public eye as the daughter of high-profile celebrities Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith made her performance debut alongside her father in “I Am Legend”. This appearance proved to be the first in a string of movie contributions, with the young actress later featuring in “Kit Kitteredge: An American Girl”, “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa”, and “Merry Madagascar”. It was announced in June 2010 Willow Smith was in the process of recording a solo album, which was led by the single “Whip My Hair”. The track peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard 200, went platinum and ultimately introduced the singer to a national audience.

Willow Smith’s subsequent single “21st Century Girl” was promoted by an appearance on “The Oprah Winfrey Show”, after which she released the single “Fireball” with Nicki Minaj which failed to chart. “Fireball” became Smith’s first single to miss out on the Billboard 200, however aided the singer inking a deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label. In May 2012 the single and video “Do It Like Me (Rockstar)” was issued, followed by “I Am Me” in July 2012. In a collaboration with DJ Fabrega entitled “Melodic Chaotic”, Willow Smith released a pair of singles “The Intro” and “Summer Fling”. The latter of which earned significant criticism for its mature themes and fake British accent. In November 2014 Smith officially issued her debut EP “3”, which was promoted by a show in New York City featuring SZA and brother Jaden Smith.

Live reviews

At only 13 years old, Willow Smith has already starred in a blockbuster hit with ‘I Am Legend,’ put out tracks that hit the Top 40 on the Billboard charts and has won awards for her musical talents. Sure, it does help to have some famous parents -- Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith -- and a brother, Jaden, who’s also a star in his own right. But the past few years have proven that she’s not just riding her family’s coat tails, and she wants to put her own stamp on the world.

Most of first heard about her musical aspirations with the release of her major hit, ‘Whip My Hair,’ inspiring everyone -- young and old -- to let those strands fly everywhere. She later released a series of singles and even worked with Nicki Minaj on ‘Fireball’ and more recently Jaden on ‘5.’ While she’s been putting out the singles, her young age despite maturity in front of the public eye didn’t bode as well with a specific audience as she was not necessarily the girl you’ll catch rock out on the Disney Channel. Her debut album has yet to release.

Despite whatever delays there are on the album, there’s no doubt that this girl can sing. Performing on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show,’ the White House and the UK leg of Justin Bieber’s world tour, she proves time and time again that her pint size won’t stop her massive voice to come out. And even though she has since chopped off all her hair and can no longer whip it back and forth, her recent performance of ‘Domino,’ a duet with R&B breakout songstress SZA, shows that her pipes don’t lie, and we’ll be seeing more from this girl real soon.

As the daughter of Will Smith, and younger sister of child actor Jayden Smith, Willow had some pretty big shoes to fill, but she has done so with conviction and enthusiasm. She began her career in 2007 as an actress, and launched into the music industry 3 years later with her hit 'Whip my Hair'. The single went platinum in the US, and I can't think of anyone who wouldn't now be familiar with the catchy hook of the chorus.

Watching a performance from Willow is incredibly refreshing. Experiencing her youthful energy and passion paired with incredible talent is something that you don't get to witness very often. Throughout the performance she didn't stop jumping around, and was intent on getting the audience involved in her performance, singing lines of her song, then holding out the microphone to encourage everyone to join in. She even sang some songs with a head mic rather than hand held to allow her to perform some pretty cool dance routines.

Seeing Willow perform on a large stage was great, because it allowed the lighting and set design to be extravagant and full of energy to match the calibre of the teenager's performance. It's not just her enthusiastic performance that makes the show however, she has a wonderfully mature and powerful voice that she appears to have learned to control very well. Definitely an artist worth going to see live!

Saw Willow at the Danforth Music Hall for NXNE. She was amazing! Couldn't believe how comfortable she seemed, with so much energy the whole time (at 14!). The only thing that sucked was that she came on 10 minutes late and only played for 20 minutes... Pretty disappointing considering a lot of the audience was young and paid $30 for a 20 minute set. But who knows what happened for it to be cut off like that.

I feel like people would have cheered more for an encore but we were all so surprised when it was over. She kind of just said bye! and ran off stage so we didn't know if it was really over or not.

In any case, it was great while it lasted!

The Cure Set First North American Tour in Seven Years

  • By Daniel Kreps

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Rolling Stone may receive an affiliate commission.

The Cure will embark on their first North American tour in seven years this summer as the Rock Hall-inducted band ’s Songs of a Lost World trek have added four additional dates to their previously scheduled slate of 30 shows.

Following their 2022 European jaunt, Robert Smith and company will kick off their 2023 North American dates on May 10 in New Orleans. After circling the U.S. and parts of Canada — including three-night stands at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl and New York’s Madison Square Garden — the leg concludes July 1 in Miami.

The new dates include a stop in Portland as well as additional nights in Montreal, Atlanta, and San Diego. “Please please please don’t buy tickets if you don’t intend [on] going to the show,” the band pleaded on Twitter, hoping their tickets make it into the right hands and don’t end up on secondary markets.

FOUR EXTRA SHOWS ADDED TO OUR ’SHOWS OF A LOST WORLD’ NORTH AMERICAN TOUR – THREE OF THEM ARE ‘EXTRA NIGHTS’ – 21ST MAY SAN DIEGO / 17TH JUNE MONTREAL / 28TH JUNE ATLANTA #ShowsOfALostWorld2023 1/5 pic.twitter.com/BDVMGBnNXB — The Cure (@thecure) April 5, 2023

Fans can sign up for Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan now ahead of the on-sale dates. New dates will be available beginning Friday, April 7 at 10 a.m. local time. The fourth extra show, the Portland stop, will be “an experiment to see whether non-transferable tickets are enough protection,” thus Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan will not be required for those purchases.

Other than the Cure’s 2019 performances at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, the Austin City Limits Festival , and their own Pasadena Daydream fest , the band last staged a North American tour in 2016.

Sam Smith’s latest studio album ‘Gloria’ arrived in late January this year. The record scored a four-star review from NME ‘s Nick Levine, who wrote: “Smith’s soulful voice is stunning throughout, and it’s surely a sign of confidence that several songs feature such prominent and intricate backing vocals. When you’re comfortable in yourself, you don’t always have to push to the front. Sam Smith has never sounded better because they’ve never been more themselves.”

Sam Smith last toured Asia in 2018, where they performed across Singapore, the Philippines, South Korea, Japan and Thailand.

Peacemaker Festival's emerging artist for 2024, Taylor Hunnicutt, to play April 26 show

Taylor Hunnicutt, the Peacemaker Festival’s emerging artist of the year for 2024, will sing at the Majestic Fort Smith at 8 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at 817 Garrison Ave.

Singer/songwriter Taylor Hunnicutt, who has been named as the Fort Smith Peacemaker Festival’s emerging artist of the year for 2024, will play a show Friday, April 26. Doors open at 7 p.m. at the Majestic Fort Smith, 817 Garrison Ave.

The Peacemaker Festival this year is collaborating with Sol Studios and the Majestic Theatre for the upcoming 2024 event, said Trent Goins, Peacemaker Festival spokesman and co-founder.

Hunnicutt played the Peacemaker Festival in 2023, and her talent was noticed, Goins said.

Goins said downtown Fort Smith has a state-of-the-art recording spot in Sol Studios.

“This project allows for the festival to showcase our community while helping up and coming artists," said Hunnicutt, who called the project a “magical experience.”

“Sol Studios, with the help of their sound engineer Anton Rasmussen, allowed us the creative freedom to bring our sound and ideas to the studio and the team helped us craft and create an upcoming EP which will be released leading up to the festival," Hunnicutt said. "To have a music festival offer to record our material and give us 100% creative freedom and ownership of our masters is not something that happens in the musical landscape today.  Peacemaker is not just another music festival; it is a family, and we are proud to be a part.”

Hunnicutt and her band are from Alabama, and they have been touring throughout the country for the past several years.

Their music fits into the genres of country, Americana, blues and soul.

Hunnicutt and band members Josh McKenzie, Ethan Perkins, Tyler Treadwell and Bobby Sanders, have released their debut album “Alabama Sound.”

The festival’s previous emerging artists of the year were Tanner Usrey, 2021, Graycie York, 2022, and the Joe Stamm Band, 2023.

The 2024 Peacemaker Festival at 121 Riverfront Drive along the Arkansas River in downtown Fort Smith will be Friday, Oct. 11 to Sunday, Oct. 13. The festival celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2024.

Tickets to see Taylor Hunnicutt’s April 26 show at the Majestic Fort Smith can be purchased at www.majesticfortsmith.com .

Will Smith’s Comeback Attempt: How He Plans to Regain Movie Star Status With ‘Bad Boys 4’ and Netflix’s ‘Fast and Loose’

One year after the slap that shook the industry, Will Smith is getting ready to return to acting.

While the “Men in Black” star has kept a mostly low profile in the 12 months since slapping presenter Chris Rock at last year’s Oscars ceremony, he is now prepping for his first acting gig since the incident that sparked headlines around the world and a still-simmering news cycle. Sources say Smith is looking to reestablish his commercial bona fides and is poised to shoot Sony’s “ Bad Boys 4 “ and Netflix’s “Fast and Loose” back to back.

Popular on Variety

But even if the film’s ticket sales were mediocre, “King Richard” did bring Smith the best actor Oscar trophy, unlike “Emancipation,” which failed to earn any Oscar nominations, including one for best actor despite Smith’s $35 million pay day.

But post-slap, studio executives were hesitant to jump back into business with Smith despite being one of the industry’s biggest stars. “Everyone was waiting to see who would blink first,” says one high-ranking executive at a major studio, who is reluctant to work with Smith just yet. “It isn’t so much what he did, it was what he did  after .”

The slap definitely dinged Smith’s uber-in-demand status, at least temporarily. One month before the Rock incident, Netflix green lit “Fast and Loose,” but the studio put the project on pause following the slap. Sources say Netflix only decided to move forward with the big-budget action thriller about the leader of a criminal organization who suffers memory loss from an attack, after Sony green lit “Bad Boys 4.”

“Netflix definitely wasn’t willing to be the first studio to get back into business with Will,” says one source familiar with the dealmaking.

Those looking for a bargain by getting into business with a tarnished star should look elsewhere. While the CAA-repped Smith has received a tepid reception in Hollywood post-slap, he remains one of the highest-paid movie stars . Sources say Smith is getting his $25 million quote on both “Bad Boys 4” and “Fast and Loose.”

Meanwhile, Smith has mostly stayed out of the public eye over the past year outside of highly choreographed appearances to promote “Emancipation.” He did, however, pop up quietly at one event: the August wedding of “Bad Boys 4” director Adil El Arbi in Morocco. El Arbi says Smith was able to offer some comfort when he and co-director Bilall Fallah learned that their nearly finished movie “Batgirl” had been scrapped by Warner Bros. Discovery in a cost-cutting measure. The film will never be released so the company can get a tax write-off.

“It was two days after the wedding, and Will Smith was there. He was like, ‘What’s happening? Oh my God,’” El Arbi tells  Variety . “And he said, ‘Really, don’t worry about it. Just one tip. Don’t go on social media.’”

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour took over Houston in 2023. Can The Rolling Stones top it?

T he Rolling Stones tour is set to make a stop at NRG Stadium Sunday for the band’s first Houston concert since 2019. The performance comes on the heels of an album release by another music legend — Taylor Swift — whose three-day stop in Houston one year ago received shows of appreciation from fans and elected officials alike.

With the Stones' Hackney Diamonds Tour underway and Swift's 11th studio album , "The Tortured Poets Department,” that dropped last week, both music industry icons maintain dedicated fanbases worldwide.

The 1960s rock n' roll band has been performing for decades. The Stones hold a record for drawing one of the largest crowds in rock n’ roll history during a show in Rio de Janeiro , with 1.5 million people, PBS reported. Swift is no stranger to large crowds either, with one of her shows in Melbourne seeing more than 96,000 people, according to Deadline.

However, both music artists made their mark in Houston during their most recent concerts: the Stones' No Filter Tour in 2019 and Swift's Eras Tour in 2023. The success of their concerts highlighted their strong fanbases in the Bayou City.

TAYLOR SWIFT : Here's a look at Texas ties to the latest release 'The Tortured Poets Department'

How did the city react to The Rolling Stones' 2019 concert?

Excited fans first caught on to the Rolling Stones’ planned 2019 Houston concert when NRG Park teased the tour stop in an email. Park officials sent an email to subscribers with the band's logo at the end of the email and no further explanation.

The 2019 show would be the Stones’ first Houston appearance in more than 10 years. The group even teamed up with the NFL for a Houston Texans—Rolling Stones jersey.

NRG Stadium officials said the venue is happy to have the band back any time.

"We're thrilled to host the legendary Rolling Stones at NRG Stadium as the first stop on their Hackney Diamonds Tour. As Mick Jagger might say, 'Start me up' – and what better place to kick off this iconic tour than right here in Houston? We look forward to welcoming fans from near and far to enjoy a night of timeless rock 'n' roll classics. Get ready to rock the night away at NRG Stadium!" stadium officials said in a statement.

How did the city react to Taylor Swift's 2023 concert?

Houston was the second city on Swift's Eras Tour .

A marketing campaign was launched to temporarily rename NRG Stadium to "NRG Stadium - Taylor's Version," initiated by NRG Park and Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo's office. Banners were placed with the temporary name on the stadium's north and south entrances.

The City Hall also honored Swift and her mother, a University of Houston alum, by lighting the building in a “lavender haze.”

How many tickets were sold at The Rolling Stones' 2019 concert?

The Rolling Stones had to postpone their 2019 No Filter Tour dates in North America because of Mick Jagger’s heart surgery. But the rescheduled concert still brought in more than 40,000 fans for its one-night stop in Houston.

How many tickets were sold at Taylor Swift's 2023 concert?

During Taylor Swift's three sold-out performances at NRG Stadium, more than 180,000 tickets were distributed, which averaged about 60,000 a day.

NRG CONCERTS : The Rolling Stones announce Houston set for next spring

The impact of The Rolling Stones' 2019 concert in Houston

The organization Houston First found that the hotel market revenue during the Stones’ concert was $16 million between July 26-28, 2019. The occupancy was about 64%.

The impact of Taylor Swift's 2023 concert in Houston

The impact of Taylor Swift's three-day tour in Houston wasn't only shown through the name change at NRG Stadium, but also in the economic impact.

Her tour happened the same weekend as a large convention downtown which likely contributed to the boost in Houston’s market, according to Houston First. Still, the organization found that the hotel market revenue was a whopping $34 million between April 21-23, 2023, which was a 30% increase from the same three days in 2022. The occupancy was about 78%.
