VCORE TOUR F 93 “Best Performance Frame”

The VCORE Tour F 93 has been selected as the racquet with the best high-performance frame in Tennis Magazine ’s 2015 Racquet Guide, published in its March/April issue.

Testing was comprehensive, with many samples of each racquet sent to a panel of diverse playtesters, ranging from tennis coaches, former players, and racquet technicians. With racquets strung to the respective manufacturers’ standards, playtesters examined the racquets in areas such as power, control, comfort, manoeuvrability and playability. Playtesters also received evaluations from playing partners, students and customers to form a well-rounded opinion on the racquets.

“This frame is about precision and control,” praised the review, “Nowhere was that more evident than at net, where the small head size, easy handling and superb feel at contact made for great volleying.” The slightly larger VCORE Tour F 97 also received a mention in the category of high-performance frame.

For all-round playability & power, choose a medium tension

Suitable for advanced/intermediate looking for plenty of power and spin. The slightly thicker beams (22mm to 24mm) and regular range of weights give the perfect mixture of power & control.

Thin beamed, heavier rackets for advanced players with good technique and power looking for more control from their racket.

These rackets are perfect for the budget conscious player, or players who do not play regularly, but need a racket for some occasional family games or holiday play. Suitable for beginners and Intermediate players alike.

Suitable for regular club players or improvers alike, these rackets suit players starting to play regular competitive or friendly tennis. Lighter weight.

The market for tennis racquets is a game of mass appeal. Take a solid racquet and offer it in several different variations to appeal to the widest audience. Yonex does this to great effect with the introduction of the V Core Tour F 97 Light. It packages the solid construction and performance of its heavier siblings in a lighter, easier to use setup. The Tour F adds new Aero Fin Technology at the top to increase swing speed and adds an additional cross string to the pattern for improved control. Here’s a look at how it performs on the court.

Groundstrokes The racquet is very quick off the ground. Its reduced weight of 290g (unstrung) makes it incredibly easy to generate a high level of racquet head speed. This translates to solid pace off both sides but the shots lack the heavy impact of the versions with more weight to them. The Isometric head provides a sizeable sweet spot and makes it play with the forgiveness of a larger head. The frame’s whippy nature is tempered by its impressive control. The 16x21 pattern offers a high level of control and directional accuracy and I had no trouble moving the ball to all areas of the court. Spin production is average and the frame is a bit better suited to flattening balls out with authority. The racquet is a bit unstable against bigger hitters but there is plenty of room to customize if so desired.

Volleys & serves Like the rest of the line, the Tour F 97 Light is a nimble weapon at the net. It has lightening quick positioning and I was able to get the best of most rapid fire exchanges. The reduced weight makes put away volleys require a bit of extra effort but it still drives through the ball nicely. I also found a bit less stability when dealing with hard hit shots. Feel is excellent, making touch and drop volleys a breeze to pull off.

Feel/Comfort The racquet has a crisp, clean feel. It offers a responsive string bed that performs well in all court play. Feedback on contact is high without being overly harsh. I always had confidence that I knew what the ball was going to do as it exited the string bed. I did not find any hot spots around the frame. Comfort was in line with other frames with stiffness in the mid 60s. It plays firmly and was a little more jarring outside the sweet spot. This is minimized by the fact that the size of the sweet spot is pretty generous, so any negative impact on comfort is negligible.

Overall Intermediate players who want a fast all court frame that offers exceptional control should enjoy the Yonex V Core Tour F 97 Light. More advanced players will struggle with stability without adding weight. The combination of control, high racquet head speed and excellent feel allows the frame to keep players in the point until they can jump on an opportunity to ratchet up the aggression. Yonex has an impressive offering that provides many “player” frame attributes in an easy to swing, user friendly package.

Yonex VCORE 2023 Review

yonex vcore tour f 93 review

It’s a hectic play-testing period at Tennisnerd HQ. And I know many of you have been waiting for this Yonex VCORE 2023 review.

The VCORE is Yonex spin-focused line. We have EZONE for power, and VCORE PRO for control, while the ASTREL line are comfort-focused game improvement racquets. The VCORE 2023 racquets are in their 7th generation and have some significant updates. As always, whether these changes make the racquets better for you is a matter of taste.

As shown in the screenshots below, there are tech and mold changes. Let’s summarize:

What’s new?

yonex vcore tour f 93 review

Silicone oil-infused grommets that are supposed to give 26.3% less friction between string and grommet for more string movement and snapback.

yonex vcore tour f 93 review

Widened upper part of the hoop and thinner beam to minimize wind resistance and increase top spin potential.

yonex vcore tour f 93 review

New throat designed to improve stability.

yonex vcore tour f 93 review

What’s not new is the Isometric head, the Liner tech, 2G Namd Flex Force, and Vibration dampening mesh.

yonex vcore tour f 93 review

I have so far tested three models in the new Yonex VCORE 2023 line-up. The 95, the 98 and the 100. I will also review the 100L at a later date and possibly extended versions of the 98 and 100.

There are no significant changes in the weight or balance of these frames. The swing weights overall seem a little higher but very manageable. I struggled less with the stability on the 95 especially compared to the previous generation, which I felt needed weight.

yonex vcore tour f 93 review

I tried one Yonex string in each racquet. Yonex Poly Tour Pro 1.25 at 51 lbs / 23 kg in the VCORE 95, Yonex Poly Tour Strike blue 1.25 at 52 lbs in the VCORE 98 and Yonex Poly Tour Rev 1.25 at 54 lbs in the VCORE 100. These are all excellent strings that I tested in the previous generation of VCOREs.

This is logical, but it’s worth reiterating that the larger the head size, the more power and spin you get. At the cost of control, obviously. The VCORE 100 is the racquet that is the most forgiving, powerful, spin-friendly, but also the one that needs the most shape added on your shots for control. The VCORE 98 is in the middle, while the VCORE 95 is the most control-oriented that requires the most from the player. These racquets feel slightly more powerful than the previous generation of VCOREs .

These racquets are all about spin and they haven’t fooled around in this category. The new VCORE 2023 racquets produce a high trajectory over the net and they make generating fast racquet head speeds easier. The ball really explodes from the string bed on these racquets. The issue is that the launch angle can be difficult to control.

yonex vcore tour f 93 review

These are exciting racquets to play with and they can produce a nasty kick on all your spin shots. However, everything comes at a cost and me and my play-testers did struggle at times to control all that power. For the advanced play-testers, the 95, with its 16×20 pattern and smaller head, was the best option. But the 98 or 100 will be the logical choice of most intermediate players.

The new VCORE racquets impress with their comfort. They are well dampened and they have dropped some of the stiffness, which makes them some of the most comfortable spin racquets on the market. They might be too flexible for some players, but I’m sure players with elbow concerns will be pleased. However, they are relatively dampened, which has been the recent trend in the tennis racquet industry. All the dampening makes it more difficult to get feedback on your shots and I think some players might struggle here.

yonex vcore tour f 93 review

I like that Yonex always try to create a more drastic change with their racquet updates. It makes life more interesting as a reviewer, at least. The 2023 Yonex VCORE racquets are more powerful, spin-friendly and comfortable than the previous VCOREs. They are impressive in all the categories. They also swing fast and look great. The issue is control. Sometimes the launch angle is too high and the ball flies unexpectedly long. You can feel disconnected from the ball at times too, due to the well-dampened response. I think those reason will make most advanced players go for the VCORE 95 or 98.

But these are my favorite VCORE racquets so far and I’ve pretty much tried them all. Power, spin, comfort, it’s all there. One of the play-testers thought the 95 was the best racquet he has ever tried. So there will be plenty of fans of this line-up. I had a lot of fun testing these frames personally and will see if I can control some of the launch angle with a hybrid string setup with a multi or gut in the mains and a round poly in the crosses. But an old school guy like me, might still want a bit more feedback from his racquet. I will keep you posted here and on my Patreon .

hello tennisnerd, sorry for this post but i have a problem. I bought a newgeo APD, I’m in love with its fh but on bh I feel insecure, I feel the catapult effect. Will adding lead to the handle make a difference? do you have any other advice for this? ? What racket has a similar feel on fh but has a more controlled bh?

Hi Marcin, lead won’t make a difference. Not sure, I understand, do you mean the new Pure Aero?

If one was to string the new Vcore 100 with a thick multifilament , 1.30 or 1.34, do you think the racquet would still have a loopier shot then the a Ezone 100?

I am asking as I love my Ezone 100 but my elbow is getting more se sensitive even though I play with a multifilament (X-One). I bought a Clash 100 V2 but the Ezone 100 plays better for me. Of course, arm health is nr 1 but perhaps the new Vcore 100 might be a bit more comfortable the Ezone 100?

Thank you for your answer. Yes, I bought a Pure Aero 2023. My forehand is great with this racket, but the backhand is very unstable and uncontrollable, it feels like a catapult effect. I thought changing the balance to the handle would improve it a bit… Are there rackets on the market with a similar forehand feel but with a more controlled and confident backhand?

Thank you for your help and best regards

I’m curious why you test them with different string at different tension?

I would love to hear how the Vcore 98 2023 compares to the Ezone 98 2022, as the specs are almost identical except for the beam width and stiffness.

Nice review! Saw Tommy Paul is going for the Vcore now. Looks like it have a positive impact on his serves.

Hello tn, im a young tennis player turning 17 in april, playing in competition and part 40 of the best of my age in France. I will buy the new vcore but i was using the babolat pure aero in 300g but i need the same head size(100) but i want to go like 305 or more in height. How can i do to take the vcore 100 and make it heavier while keaping the same sensations? thank you

Hello TN thank you for your reviews they are essential to all of us tennis nerds! I want to know your opinion to see if it is worth it to upgrade from the VCore 98 2021 to the Vcore 98 2023. Are there any drastic differences? Your insights are very important for me! Thanks for your help.

Kind regards

Hi Simon, yeah the differences are drastic. You get a softer feel and more spin potential/lift on the ball with the 2023 version. Not sure that is what you want , but there is a significant difference in how they play. Cheers / J

Hello jonas ! Im a huge fan from the beginning love your work! Just wanted to ask for the new vcore 95 would u recommend grapplesnack tour sniper or m8 (1.25) thank you and best regards!

Thanks! I’d go with M8!

Thank you for the fast reply !cant wait to order both..also Is the launch angle noticeably high with this set up? Best regards !mickael

Hey Jonas. I currently play w the 2022 ezone tour 98 w a hybrid setup. It plays well for me, a tad heavy but everything seems great, however I can’t get as much spin and bite on the ball as I’d like. However I don’t want to give up the free power and feel from it. Do you think the Vcore 98 or 95 would be similar or is it going to be like switching more to an erratic spraying spin machine lol! I play semi western grip, two hand BH. The other consideration was speed pro 2022. Feels great and lower launch angle with control. I cant give up control for spin

Great review! I play with the previous edition of VCore 95, added 4 grams at 3 and 9 for stability. I do feel a bit of lack in power, and slight elbow discomfort in winter (PolyTour Pro 125 at 50/48), do you think the new version would solve these issues, without sacrificing the magnificent control and manuevrability? To answer the previous posters: I changed from PA Tour 2018 (too powerful) to PA VS 2020, great racquet, but I struggled a bit with stability for my flatish 2HBH. Tried the VCore 95, and I found the ideal racquet for my game.

How does the Ezone 98 compare to the Vcore 98 with the new changes? I have a Vcore 6gen 100and after trying the the Ezone 98, the power, control and more plush feel makes me want to change to it. However, this new Vcore might feel like a Ezone but with different spin characteristics?

The new Vcore 98 is stiffer than the 2021 model. It is a tad more powerful and great for first volleys. It feels heavier and I am unsure whether to trade up to something that is possibly 5% more effective when I have had no arm issues with the previous 98 and feel this new one might provoke something. What do you think?

TN, do you think the higher launch angle is due simply to a slightly more open string pattern compared to the e-zones? I don’t know that it is a little bit more open, but that’s what I’m guessing. And you feel you can reduce that by having less Snapback with a multi or gut in the mains? Is that you’re thinking?

Yeah, you definitely reduce it with a hybrid, I tried it and it worked well.

I normally use ezone 98, I got vcore 98 about 2 weeks ago. Both racquets are strung with solinco tour bite 1.25 at m52lb c 50lb. So far with this configuration…ezone much much better control and feel. Vcore for serves is outstanding however I’m really struggling to control the power the other issue is overheads and net play. Frame feels super fast while swinging which ironically causes me to miss time the shots. I was wondering if I should try it with any of the Yonex strings perhaps in thicker gauge and higher tension to take the power down and bring more control, it’s much more muted feel than ezone so hopefully thicker gauge and the higher tension shouldbe still relatively comfortable. Any suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks

Quick update for above…i have re-strung it to higher tension with Tecnifibre razor code 1.25 m56, c 54lb I had a hit for few hours with it, it feels like a diferent racquet, defenitely feels way better, much easier to control and fun to use it.

I know it is a very subjective feeling, but compared to which racket would you rather advise Yonex Vcore 100 or the Babolat pure aero 2023?

I have struggled to find a string for Vcore 98 and ended up with Black Code 1.28 for feel, control, and durability.

I tried 7 strings below with the same string tension setup at 48 lbs in main and 46 lbs in cross.

1. Solinco Hyper G 1.25: too much spin and power. Sometimes I had difficulty controlling shot length. If I had to play on clay court, I would choose this string.

2. Yonex Polytour Pro 1.25.: Just like Hyper G, this string set up was not easy to control shot depth. Feel was good, though.

3. Babolat ROM Rough 1.25: Feel, control, spin, and power were really great. But, it broke after 4 hours of play. If I play a singles match, I cannot use this string due to its poor durability. I would always have to be worried about when it would break.

4. Technifiber Black Code 1.24: This string had almost same pros and cons as RPM Rough 1.25. But, BC 1.24 broke after 3.5 hours of play.

5. Gosen G-Tour 3 1.23: I felt too stiff with this string. Probably shot power was the best among other string setup and G-tour 3 was great when I was in offense. If I practice cross court stroke and return only, I can use this string. But, when it comes to defense during matches, I could not generate enough spin and control. Probably, I would have pretty much similar issues with Polytour Strike.

6. Gosen G-Tour 3 1.28: I felt way stiffer than 1.24 version of G-tour 3 1.24. The moment I hit cross court stroke, I was like this string is No Go.

7. Technifiber Black Code 1.28: Feel, control, power, and spin were not as great as 1.24 version, but this string lasts 8+ hours and offers just a little bit of stability.

Hi, great review. What about a direct comparison with new Babolat pure aero, which racket would you prefer to maximise rh topspin and lh slice kind of play and for which other reason if any? Thanks

I think the Aero allows for more control with the denser pattern, while the VCORE is more powerful and spinny (and dampened, perhaps too much so)

Is it good for recreational player or better to check some other options? Which of TOP 3 good racquets would you recommend for intermediate player? THANKS!

String set up. I have used the 2020 and 22 ezone 98 and vcore 21 and 23 98. I prefer the new vcore for comfort, spin and control. I like how the ball slams down at the last second near the baseline and takes off. It messes my opponents up all the time.

It does swing faster or lighter than the 2021 vcore so I added 2 x 1” lead at 12:00 on the racket. This did the trick for me.

I use Polytour Rev 16L strung at 52.

The 2023 98 vcore is definitely more arm friendly than the 2021. I recommend this racket as my favorite racket! I’ve tried all the babolots from the last 12 years as well.

Hey Jonas. I know you have a history of arm issues… did the 2023 Vcores (specifically the 98) trigger you at all? I’ve read the forums and it seems like some people have felt things. Coming back from a summer of TE and want to be careful (switching from the Ezone 98 2022 and want something similar-playing that is less harsh). Thanks!

I have been a Pro Staff user for 38 years. I felt like I was cheating when I demo’d the Yonex Vcore 98. But I switched and I love it. Most of the game at my level, age 70 is at the baseline and I am hitting groundies better than ever. And return of serve is ridiculous. The racket gets into position so easily, and rebound from the stringbed is quick and reliable. I string Solinco hybrid at 48multi mains and 46 poly crosses. Its great. Also modify with tungsten putty inside the butt cap to make it 335gms and 10 pts HL or so. So far it’s been great. I do break the multi strings quite often though with all of the spin that it produces. But that’s the price you pay for awesomeness.

Yonex VCORE 98 2023 Racquet Review

Wilson Ultra 100 Countervail Racquet Main Image

Seven generations into the VCORE family, Yonex continues to refine the VCORE 98 . With this update, Yonex gives the racquet a softer feel and new frame geometry, which is designed to provide intermediate to advanced players with an ideal blend of power, spin, stability and feel. Our playtesters took this new VCORE 98 out for several weeks of hitting, and spoiler alert: the experience was a positive one! At least one of the changes was easy to spot: Yonex updates the ISOMETRIC head shape with a wider upper hoop that's designed to create a larger sweetspot and offer more stability and comfort. Other tweaks include new grommets for more string snapback and access to spin, a lower stiffness rating for a luxurious feel at impact, and 2-NAMD FlexForce graphite for more flex in all the right areas. Although each tester had slightly different opinions based on his or her different style of play, the team agreed that the VCORE 98 provides loads of bite when slicing serves, is stable and maneuverable at net, and offers access to massive spin and power from the baseline.

  • Spin potential
  • Balanced control and power
  • Softer feel might not be for everyone
  • Intermediate to advanced

Groundstrokes - Score: 85

With its updated ISOMETRIC head shape, the VCORE 98 offered our team a large sweetspot, making it easy to generate power and spin from the baseline. Brittany , who calls the EZONE 100 her racquet of choice, admitted that a 98-square-inch racquet catches her eye every now and again, and the VCORE 98 was one of them. She said, "Looking at the specs, I was super curious how the VCORE 98 would play, but I had a good feeling it would match up well to my game style. After a couple sessions on court, I knew I was right. There was a minor adjustment period to the slightly smaller head size, but it didn't take long to get in a nice groove. I thought the VCORE 98 had controllable power with plenty of spin. Like with the VCORE 100, I enjoyed mixing up my groundstrokes during a rally, driving a couple deep then throwing in some shorter angled shots to pull my opponent off the court. I found a standard launch angle, so I had no issues dialing in my depth control. Additionally, my defensive slices were staying low and penetrating, and I was really able to knife the ball and keep myself in points."

On groundstrokes, Howard enjoyed the racquet's great balance of power, control and spin. He said, "I didn't notice any stability issues when playing against harder hitting opponents. I enjoyed being able to generate a good amount of racquet head speed and translate that into topspin. Having a weaker backhand, I truly appreciated the amount of power I was able to generate on that shot."

"This racquet was noticeably softer than the previous version, but it did feel a tiny bit stiffer than the VCORE 95, which I also playtested," said Michelle . "The VCORE 98 offered me more free power than the VCORE 95, but it felt lower powered than the previous version and I felt a little disconnected from the ball. The stringbed felt comfortable and certainly pocketed the ball. As someone who appreciates boardier frames, I prefer the feel of the EZONEs because the ball is in and out of the stringbed quicker, and I know right where it's going. I adjusted through the playtest and started going for bigger targets. I also noticed that I felt more in command when I allowed the racquet head to whip through rather than plow through. But plowing through the ball in a more linear path made me realize my strokes aren't suited perfectly for the VCORE racquets. I did appreciate the explosive feel and how quickly I could maneuver through the ball, especially digging out deep shots. When I was on the run, I found I could get to the ball and go big with an all-or-nothing shot down the line or arch it cross court."

Austin noted that the latest few generations of Yonex racquets have established a baseline of quality when it comes to groundstrokes, regardless of the model. He said, "There was very little I would change about the setup when it came to baseline strokes; stability, crisp feedback and a tangible sense of both power and control were all very apparent. However, the most significant benefit of the VCORE 98 was how easy it was to create spin and get good net clearance. It took me very little time to find a groove with this racquet and play the attacking game I prefer."

Volleys - Score: 82

Most of the team could play confidently at net with the VCORE 98 in hand. Howard explained, "Volleys were great! The racquet was comfortable, and I was able to really drive my punch volleys. When my opponent would drive a shot toward me at net, I was able to get the racquet in place thanks to the maneuverability. Overall, it was a great option, and I think the VCORE 98 would be a solid racquet specifically for doubles specialists."

"I didn't have any complaints volleying with the VCORE 98," added Michelle . "The racquet was stable, yet still maneuverable. I could stick my volleys, and I found decent touch when dropping balls short. I have been trying to come to the net more lately, and I felt more connected to my shots at the net with the VCORE 98 than I did at the baseline."

For as much as he loved the VCORE 98 at the baseline, volleys with the racquet left Austin wanting a bit more at net. He described, "The inherent stability of the VCORE 98 was great for blocking heavier shots back. However, I prefer thinner beamed racquets, so the beam width and balance did make maneuvering the racquet quickly a bit difficult for me. With Yonex's vibration-dampening technologies, I did still feel very connected to my volleys and was able to dial in my placement once I got used to the frame's bulk."

The responsive feel was the standout feature for Brittany when she was transitioning up to net. She said, "I had the confidence to hit a variety of volleys, and I surprised myself hitting by a lot more touch volleys than normal. I even had a couple of good pick up and half volleys. I would say the VCORE 98 is pretty solid and stable up at net, and I was able to get it into position with little effort."

Serves - Score: 83

Our playtest crew all loved slicing serves wide from the deuce side with the VCORE 98 . As someone who often tries to hit big flat serves, Michelle appreciated the variety the VCORE 98 offered her. She said, "My favorite shot to hit through the playtest was the wide slice serve on the deuce side of the court. I could really buggy whip the tip of the racquet and get the ball jumping off the side of the court. Then, I also loved getting that T serve dialed in on the ad side as well; it just felt super effective opening the court up this way and being able to execute first-strike tennis. The racquet was fun to serve with, and I had easy access to spin, slice and could even get decent power on flatter serves."

"The generous launch angle off the stringbed gave first and second serves plenty of margin over the net, and the ample spin production helped me place the ball without much struggle," added Austin . "Because of this, my favorite serve to hit was the deuce-side slice out wide, which can sometimes be a risky shot. I had plenty of room and was confident that I could go after these serves with the VCORE."

Brittany echoed, "My favorite serve to hit was the slice serve out wide on the deuce side. I loved carving the ball and having it spin away from my opponent to open up the court. I had to put a little more effort into flatter first serves, so I hit my slice serve about 80 percent of the time. This allowed me to go up and after my serves throughout an entire match without getting any arm fatigue. I felt like I could be a little more precise, so I used this to my advantage by mixing up my targets. There was plenty of access to spin on my kick second serves, which allowed me to stay in a neutral position to start off the point."

Rounding out the feedback on serve was Howard , who had some struggles. He said, "Serving was probably my least favorite part of this playtest. I have always struggled with the Yonex Isometric shape. I found good spin for my second serve, but I was unable to consistently hit a flat serve down the T. The serve I enjoyed the most with this frame was a slice out wide."

Returns - Score: 84

The positive feedback kept rolling in when it came to returning with the VCORE 98 . As is the case with most racquets she tests, Brittany preferred returning rather than serving with the VCORE 98. She said, "Similar to groundstrokes, I was able to really step in and go after a first serve return. I used the power from the serve to my advantage and could absorb and redirect it. I was never worried about overhitting, so I could swing freely. I did notice that I had to put in a little more effort to create my own pace off second serve returns to stay aggressive."

Howard thought this was one of the most solid racquets he has hit with when it came to returning. He said, "I enjoyed the stability of the VCORE 98 when I was facing a hard flat serve, and I was able to whip the racquet around and place my return deep with decent topspin. I could slice my return against high kicking serves and get ready for the next shot."

"Returns were fun to rip with this racquet," added Michelle . "I did widen my target base when really attacking; otherwise I tried to keep the ball deep and through the middle of the court to avoid making careless mistakes. I could build a more confident point from there. Angles were fun and easy to execute as well, especially when I had a good look at the ball. The VCORE 98 was stable against big serves, and I also enjoyed slicing and blocking balls back."

Austin was able to hit a variety of returns with the VCORE 98. He said, "There was very little to nitpick when it came to service returns. This racquet was versatile and stable, and I could comfortably pick and choose exactly how I wanted to shape my returns. The slight lack of maneuverability compared to other 98s was not as apparent as it was at net, but it still bears mentioning."

Overall - Score: 84

Austin - "I like the spin production, stability and all-around versatility of the VCORE 98 ."

Michelle - "I love adding slice and spin to my serves and getting more creative by pulling opponents off the court and opening the court up for first-strike tennis."

Howard - "There is good control, spin and stability."

Brittany - "I like the balance of power and control with the loaded spin potential."

Brittany - "Not much! Personally, I just have to work a little harder to hit some of my shots."

Michelle - "It's not my favorite VCORE feel (if my memory serves me right, the SV VCOREs were a bit stiffer). I prefer a firmer response, and I get a bit lost in the soft, pocketing stringbed. I struggled with smaller targets and confidence, so I ended up shifting my stroke path to make the VCORE 98 work better for me."

Howard - "Feel."

Austin - "The beam is a little wide for my preference, and I like a balance that's more head light."

Comparing the racquet to others they've tried, our testers said:

Brittany - "Compared to the VCORE 100, the VCORE 98 offers a little more control and precision, but it's slightly less forgiving and offers a little less easy power. It also has a lower launch angle. They both have loads of spin potential and a responsive feel. Other racquets that play similarly include the Yonex EZONE 98, Prince ATS Textreme Tour 98 and Head Extreme Tour."

Michelle - "On paper, the VCORE 98 seems to be fairly similar to one of my favorite 98-square-inch frames, the Prince ATS Textreme Tour 98. However, the string spacing is different, the beam shapes are different and the feel is different. Both offer good targeting and controlled power with access to spin, but I much prefer the Tour 98. Also, compared to the EZONE 98, the EZONE's beam feels firmer, and the ball is in and out of the stringbed faster."

Howard - "If I was looking to replace my current racquet of choice, the Prince ATS Textreme Tour 95, this racquet would be in the discussion. I enjoyed everything the Yonex VCORE 98 had to offer, and it was difficult for me to find something that I disliked. I would rank this VCORE 98 in my current top five frames."

Austin - "I got out and hit with the prior two generations of the VCORE 98 to give myself some foundation for this playtest, and I can truthfully say this is its best iteration yet. The head shape and string spacing are the most apparent changes, and the explosive launch this latest version produces is clear. Between its comfortable feel and the head shape, this VCORE 98 effortlessly enhances groundstrokes, and the confidence you can play with ought to place it right at the top of the market for 98-square-inch frames."
