Blenders Pride Fashion Tour has celebrated fashion and design on a grand scale ever since its inception. It has always captured the zeitgeist of the fashion world through fashion shows and much more. This year, for the landmark 15th anniversary, the platform introduced a path-breaking format, as well as collaborated with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI)—led by Mr. Sunil Sethi—to present a grander-than-ever festival of fashion. As a meaningful expression of success and individuality, it presented ‘Pride’ as the theme, with Craft, Blend, and Identity becoming the canvases of expression throughout the journey. “With this tour, we are thrilled to expand the horizons and understanding of fashion in the country by going a notch above,” said curator-in-chief and designer, Ashish Soni. “This edition takes the next step in the fashion arena with its new format.”

The 2019-2020 tour travelled to Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai, where celebrated and distinguished designers like Anamika Khanna, Manish Malhotra and Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, respectively, presented their themed works. The Kolkata chapter spoke of the city’s extraordinary ‘Craft’ with Khanna’s young and flamboyant collections. The Hyderabad chapter brought alive the theme of ‘Identity’ through Malhotra’s statement silhouettes that represented the sponge trend—one of the most pervasive and dominant trends today. The Delhi chapter embodied the theme of ‘Blend’ by combining the classical with avant-garde through duo Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla’s timeless collections.

New Delhi, February 22, 2020: Bringing the universe of pride to life, the celebrated Blenders Pride Fashion Tour went beyond conventional runway shows in its milestone 15 th edition to unveil a breathtakingly new face of fashion. The fashion extravaganza culminated in a larger-than-life finale, ‘The Pride of India’, in collaboration with FDCI, in Mumbai with 15 eminent designers, namely, Abraham & Thakore, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Anamika Khanna, Anju Modi, Ashish N Soni, Gaurav Gupta, JJ Valaya, Manish Malhotra, Monisha Jaising, Namrata Joshipura, Raghavendra Rathore, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna, Suneet Varma, and Wendell Rodricks. Adding to the grandeur of the evening was brand representative Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who looked spectacular.

Charting a unique course, the iconic 15 th year of Blenders Pride Fashion Tour came with a path-breaking format with designer Ashish Soni as curator-in-chief, and an exclusive collaboration with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the industry thought leader. By focussing laser sharp on fashion, the tour presented festivals of fashion and created a universe of pride through its three themes – Craft, Blend and Identity. While ‘Pride’ as a meaningful expression of success and individuality continued to take center-stage in this edition, it is actually India with its indigenous ‘craft’, ‘blend’ of diverse influences, and a distinctive ‘identity’ that became the canvas of expression this year.

Stepping into the fashion spotlight as always, the tour also launched a new element – The Showcase – to provide a breakthrough opportunity for aspiring fashion designers and models to be mentored and display their talent at this year’s Blenders Pride Fashion Tour.

The festivals of fashion at Blenders Pride Fashion Tour in Mumbai included segments such as the Collection Gallery, The Showcase, and Style Forum, each of which celebrated a whole new facet of fashion. An artistic display of 82 iconic pieces, The Collection Gallery was spread over three zones – Craft, Blend, Identity – including 78 famed designers such as Alpana Neeraj, Akaaro by Gaurav Jai Gupta, Shantanu & Nikhil, Anavila Misra, Ikai by Ragini Ahuja, Kiran Uttam Ghosh, Shahab Durazi, Naushad Ali, Swati Kalsi, Payal Jain, Rahul Mishra, Pankaj & Nidhi and Dhruv Kapoor. The Showcase presented the work of winning designers Ikshit Pande (Quod), Sushant Abrol (Countrymade) and Stanzin Palmo (Zilzom).

At the Style Forum, industry stalwarts such as Ashish Soni, David Abraham, Namrata Joshipura, Kunal Rawal, Chinki Sinha and Sunil Sethi, with Anaita Shroff Adajania as moderator, came together for an intellectual exchange of ideas in the fashion arena, focusing on the topic ‘What’s the journey been for the Indian fashion industry and what does the future hold?’

Speaking on the occasion, Kartik Mohindra, Chief Marketing Officer, Pernod Ricard India, said , “In its 15th year of spearheading fashion in India, Blenders Pride Fashion Tour moved beyond conventional shows to become a celebration of all things fashion with a new vision. With its path-breaking format, the milestone edition of the tour enhanced the appeal for the youth and set the tone for innovation in the years to come. The journey of ‘ Pride’ that the brand undertook last year, continued to take center-stage this year as well, to bring alive distinctive expressions of ‘Pride’. We are also thrilled to have collaborated with the industry leader, FDCI, in this landmark year, to take the property to new heights, together with illustrious designers and artists from across the country.”

Expounding the theme ‘The Pride of India’, the finale of Blenders Pride Fashion Tour celebrated the contribution of India’s iconic designers with My Origin, My Pride. The Pride of India was an ode to fashion, a grand union of the biggest names in the industry who came together to shape the future of fashion. Each of the 15 designers presented their intricately crafted collections in varied silhouettes that embraced the rich grandeur and spirit of India.

Talking about the association, Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI, said , “We are proud to associate with Blenders Pride Fashion Tour in its iconic 15 th year, and further add to the magnanimity of the property. With both FDCI and Blenders Pride Fashion Tour being definitive names in the fashion space, we feel that we are perfectly positioned to showcase our combined strengths with our shared synergies.”

As curator-in-chief of Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2019-20, designer Ashish Soni said, “The 15 th edition of Blenders Pride Fashion Tour takes the next step in the fashion arena with a new format to include festivals of fashion, in addition to the runway shows. With this tour, we are thrilled to expand the horizons and understanding of fashion in the country by going a notch above.”

The 8th edition of Seagram’s Blenders Pride Fashion Tour started yesterday at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai, bringing in all the A-listers under one roof for an uber chic fashion fiesta. We witnessed the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour in Kolkata too, the difference in Mumbai was the fashion fragrance that went around in the crowd and certainly the turn-out was more here.

A huge ramp that we loved was very unconventional yet served the purpose of adding a unique fashion quotient to the runaway. The opening show was by Falguni & Shane Peacock who had very quirky style as their theme was Space-age Rockstar meets Cyber-couture that took a futuristic approach, transforming classic silhouettes into clean minimalist shapes with high-tech fabrications. The gorgeous Sonakshi Sinha dazzled the ramp in a black outfit as the showstopper for the designer duo.

Gavin Miguel’s collection named “Stairway to Heaven (Heavenly Abode)” had colours that were very heavenly and angelic with ivory and champagne blending gradually into lemon, light pink, lavender, ice blue with bits of nude shades and finally white. Kangana Ranaut was the showstopper for Gavin who sported a stylish white gown with a low neckline that were awed by the audience.

Rana Daggubati, the heartthrob of SouthIndian Film Industry set the ramp on fire in a sleeveless shirt and harem pants.

Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour 2022, Powered by FDCI, Rewrites the Fashion Rulebook in Its Mumbai Chapter

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], December 12 (ANI/BusinessWire India): The 16th edition of Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour, powered by Fashion Design Council of India, brought a vibrant and energetic experience to Mumbai recently at Royal Western India Turf Club, Mahalaxmi. Celebrity designers Falguni Shane Peacock, presented ‘Pride in Breaking Norms of Conventional Fashion’, showcasing a melange of young, edgy, street-meets-couture collection, set against the backdrop of a live graffiti art performance by Dizy, India’s first and only female graffiti artist. Closing the show as a showstopper was none other than Shahid Kapoor, who enhanced the experience with his energy and charming persona.

Designers Falguni Shane Peacock are known to push the boundaries of fashion design through their youthful, aesthetic and innovative flair. For Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour’s Mumbai chapter, they took inspiration from the rising wave of Indian street-art culture and presented a beautiful juxtaposition of street and couture. The street quotient of the evening was enriched even more as Dizy infused the vibe of the streets, by designing graffiti artworks, live on the sets of the fashion show.

The vibrant and evolving expressions of ‘Pride & Authenticity’ of the youth of India shone through every element of the evening. Falguni Shane Peacock’s craftmanship along with Dizy’s artistic flair reimagined street-meets-couture, in a collection that celebrated the bold new expression of young India. The collection featured clunky oversized silhouettes, hip-length jackets with sawn-off sleeves, knee-length skirts and trousers reduced to slit-sided miniskirts, among others, showcasing an energetic melange of street art and luxe design, creating a riveting fashion & lifestyle experience.

Talking about the show, designers Falguni Shane Peacock shared, “We are excited to present an unconventional take on couture for the 16th edition of Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour, as it emerges to take a young and bold new avatar. Taking inspiration from street art, we have deconstructed couture in a conceptualized street-chic way along with the talented graffiti artist Dizy. Our show was all about a sense of freedom, exuberating an attitude of positivity and reflecting how street meets couture in the modern world.”

India’s first female graffiti artist, Dizy, added, “I’m proud to come together with celebrated designers Falguni Shane Peacock for the iconic Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour. Street-art reflects the bold new expressions of the youth of India, and it is exciting to see the Fashion Tour giving a platform to celebrate the brewing culture of street-art this year.”

Besides the spectacular fashion show, the evening featured an exciting new element in this year’s Fashion Tour that is the ‘Style Gallery’ called ‘This is not a T-shirt’, curated by Ashish Soni and FDCI — an exhibit of T-shirt outfits designed by over 60 designers & homegrown fashion labels, who have embellished or even deconstructed the basic T-shirt into a design celebrating their authentic interpretation of Pride. The Style Gallery exhibit was constructed with undertones of sustainability, using recycled materials which puts into action the Fashion Tour’s pursuit towards becoming more sustainable & eco-friendly. Featuring within the Style Gallery was also the ‘Step into the Metaverse’ booth where guests were able to interact with exciting features of ‘Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour Park’ – the Fashion Tour’s metaverse avatar.

Speaking on the occasion, Kartik Mohindra, Chief Marketing Officer, Pernod Ricard India, said, “The 16th edition of Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour is all about embracing the changing dynamics of the fashion & lifestyle industry, bringing an impressive new format that’s more inclusive, diverse and youthful. The Mumbai show, in partnership with FDCI, was all about breaking norms of conventional fashion, with Falguni Shane Peacock’s bold street-luxe collection complemented by Dizy’s rustic graffiti art. The experience was not only brought to life in the physical world, but also in the virtual world with our initiative of taking the Fashion Tour experience to the metaverse this year. With this, we continue to forge ahead in our journey of celebrating ‘Pride’ of today’s youth with exciting innovations throughout this edition of the Fashion Tour.”

Talking about the new avatar of the Fashion Tour, Sunil Sethi, Chairman, FDCI, said, “Fashion Design Council of India is proud to continue its partnership with Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour, both of which are leading names in the fashion & lifestyle industry. Our endeavour for the Mumbai edition was to present an exciting new format that showcased pride in breaking norms of conventional fashion with designer Falguni Shane Peacock and artist Dizy. The Style Gallery is our attempt to make the Fashion Tour more inclusive and highlight different interpretations of the pride & authenticity of various designers. This partnership is a fitting way to showcase our drive to reshape and reimagine the evolving face of fashion in India.”

As curator-in-chief of Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour 2022, ace designer Ashish Soni said, “For its 16th edition, Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour is truly expanding its horizons and going beyond the ordinary. We’ve added exciting new elements, including designer and artist collaborations, a one-of-its-kind Style Gallery and the Fashion Tour Park metaverse, all of which bring to life a fashion experience like never before.”
