Kochi is the only place which was under the possession of so many rulers. From time immemorial Arab, Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch and British left their mark on the city. Portuguese was the first Europeans to land in Kochi. Then came the Dutch and finally the British who took over the control of Kochi and ruled for a long time.

Kochi welcomed, endured and eventually achieved victory over all those and survived till the time with all the glory. Kochi is different from other places of Kerala with its European heritage and cosmopolitan outlook.

Best of Southern India with Houseboat Stay Tour

Best of Southern India with Houseboat Stay

I booked this tour with Swastik after Golden Triangle Tour. I must i was impressed by the services. Hotel choices were excellent. Driver and guides were professional and knowledgeable.

Trip to God\'s Own Country Tour

Trip to God's Own Country

The tour was a brilliant adventure. The hotels were excellent with good facilities with a range of activities, particularly for health conscious travellers in this part of the world. The driver was excellent, responsible and knowledgeable. The guides overall were very good, friendly and knowledgeable in their area of history and culture. The traveller should carry out their own research before committing to the daily activities provided by the tour as you may need to make choices about what activities you want to do. The 'every day' entrance fee expenditure, which were relatively small amounts, had not been explained to me up front or indeed listed anyway on the itinerary, even as approximate amounts, this would have been appreciated. I would question the facilities and cleanliness of the floating hotel boat, the limited crew members on board had to operate the boat and look after the guests including cooking / cleaning and so on. The crew also used the boat facilities for their own living quarters. However, for one day and night it was an experience not to be missed, the food was exceedingly good.

Exotic Kerala Tour (Coconut Holiday Of India) Tour

Exotic Kerala Tour (Coconut Holiday Of India)

Kerala is beautiful, very scenic and the people are generally very friendly. Other than in Cochin we really didn’t have a guide, just a driver. Our driver changed during the tour, in all we had three drivers. None of the drivers were very informative about what we were doing or gave us information about the sights. The itinerary varied considerably from the one we were given prior to the trip, although most of the major sites were visited, but not necessarily on the day specified. The highlight of the trip was the house boat on the backwaters. This was fabulous as was the food provided. Most of the other hotels were dated and could not be recommended.

Relaxing kerala tour ( Cochin Munnar Alleppy Cochin) Tour

Relaxing kerala tour ( Cochin Munnar Alleppy Cochin)

We had the pleasure of taking a relaxing Kerala tour, exploring the beautiful cities of Cochin, Munnar, Alleppy, and returning to Cochin. I must say, it was one of the most rejuvenating and memorable trips I have ever been on. The tour started in Cochin, also known as the 'Queen of Arabian Sea'. The bustling city with its rich history and culture left me in awe. From the ancient Chinese fishing nets to the Dutch and Portuguese architecture, Cochin has a unique charm that can't be found anywhere else. The highlight of my time in Cochin was the Kathakali dance performance, where I got to witness the traditional art form of Kerala. Next, we headed to Munnar, a hill station situated in the Western Ghats. The scenic drive to Munnar was breathtaking, passing through lush green plantations and waterfalls. The cool climate and serene surroundings of Munnar made it the perfect place to unwind and relax. I also got to visit the tea museum and learn about the history of tea production in Munnar. One of the most memorable experiences of the tour was the houseboat cruise in Alleppy. The backwaters of Alleppy are a sight to behold, with their tranquil waters and picturesque landscapes. The houseboat was well-equipped with all the necessary amenities and the staff on board made sure we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The delicious traditional Kerala cuisine served on the houseboat was the icing on the cake. The tour ended back in Cochin, where I got to explore more of the city and do some shopping. The tour company had arranged for a local guide who took us to all the famous markets and helped us bargain for some great deals. I also got to try some mouth-watering seafood dishes in Cochin, which is known for its fresh seafood. my experience on the relaxing Kerala tour was one of a kind. The tour was well-organized, and the accommodations were comfortable and clean. The local guides were knowledgeable and friendly, making the trip even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to unwind and experience the beauty of Kerala. It truly was a trip of a lifetime.

What people love about kochi (cochin) tours.

What I was looking for: - do more cultural activities than when travelling solo (I usually do none) - stay with a chill group of people for a week - see Kerala that I heard so much about My experience: - this tour has limited activities. It’s in the itinerary. I booked the only one that matches my dates without checking too much… - the group was pretty cool. The restaurants / bars we were recommended were bad though. - I got to see Kerala. The walk through the rice fields was amazing Overall, I’d say go for it if you’re not comfortable travelling on your own. The 2 days in the backwaters were worth going on a tour. The beach is better done solo travelling / resort / hostel.
All went smoothly, good srandard of accommodation and flexibility in the itinerary. Driver spoke reasonable English so we were able to communicate and he made some suggestions which were appreciated. Houseboat was relaxing, great crew and experience.
It was an incredible and well organized trip. We highly recommend!!

  • 145diveshn 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Worst, pathetic, scam Experience I am Divesh Narula. I purchased two tickets for Dubai Future Museum through @Thrillophilia. Unfortunately, I encountered an issue upon arrival at the museum. Despite having paid 10,600 INR, which is significantly higher than the actual price of 6440 INR for two tickets, the authorities informed me that the tickets had already been used. I promptly reported this incident to Thrillophilia and provided them with proof. However, despite numerous attempts, including reaching out to their customer care team, my ticket number 15453 remains unresolved since March 31st. Each time I contact them, I receive nonsense excuses and promises of updates within 48 hours, which never materialize. It's beyond infuriating! Places to Visit in Kochi | Cochin Tourism

cochin sightseeing tour

Widely known as the ‘Queen of Arabian Sea’, Kochi/Cochin is a paradise for travelers who come in search of wonders. Kochi is one among the top rated international travel destinations where tourists can closely experience the glimpses of pre-historic, historic and modern era. Kochi is in fact the heart of God's own country – Kerala. It is the financial capital of the city with booming IT industry and various other trading endeavors as it is one of the chief port cities in the country. This cosmopolitan city has everything that can attract tourists irrespective of the seasons such as the comforts of a metro city, amazing beauty of nature, incredible culture, and so on. Be it an adventurous trip or a laid back holiday experience, Kochi tourism would never disappoint any of its visitors.

Historical Importance of Kochi

The known history of Kochi dates back to the 14th century, when we were under the colonial rule. In fact Kochi was the first European colony occupied by the Portuguese. After the Portuguese, the city was occupied by Dutch and British respectively, and made it a Princely state. Since it was the major port city, Kochi was considered to be the main center for the spice trade during that period. Greeks, Romans, Jews, Syrians, Arabs and Chinese were the main traders of spices. According to historians, the Kingdom of Kochi came into existence during the 12th century after the Chera Kingdom.

The specialty of this place was that many traders who came to this land, Jews being the prominent ones, later got settled here for various reasons. From the Portuguese rule Kochi went into the hands of the Dutch and later British. The Anglo-Dutch treaty of 1814 forced the Dutch rule to handover Kochi to the British rule. Under the British rule, the modern city started to develop with the large modern port and the largest man-made island called the Willington Island.

During the post independence era, the Kochi Maharaja agreed to join the Indian union and then in the year 1948 the royal state of Travancore-Kochi merged into the newly formed Indian Union. On your Kochi Tour , take the time out and do explore its historical grandeur.

Geographical Importance of Kochi

Kochi is located in the southwest part of the Ernakulam district. The geographic peculiarity of Kochi is that most of the areas in the city are at sea level with 48 kilometers of coastline. Cochin is also beautified with the astounding splendor of backwaters which attracts travelers from around the world. The major parts of the city are surrounded by water bodies and thus there are so many beautiful islands in and around the city to visit.

Because of being a coastal area the weather here is usually humid similar to that of Goa. The presence of Western Ghats on one side helps in getting a good amount of monsoon as well. The usual temperature here varies between 30°C to 35°C through the daytime and 25°C to 28°C through the nights. However the city experiences the best weather from mid September to mid March.

The city is well connected with the rest of India through road transport. There are many major national and state highways which connect the Southern and Northern India.

The Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division under the Southern Railway Zone of Indian Railways connects Kochi to other parts of the country through rail. The Ernakulam Junction and Ernakulam Town are the two major railway stations in the city.
