SAVOR THE TRIP
The bourbon capital awaits.
The way they tell it around here, it all started with Elijah Craig. In 1789, the Baptist minister was the first to age bourbon in oak barrels. That technique, and the spirit that flowed forth, has helped shape Bardstown and its residents’ lives in the more than two centuries since. Today, Bardstown is a welcoming community of 13,000 friendly folks eager to share their passion for the craft of bourbon. Visitors can tour our 11 local and regional distillery experiences, and even enjoy bourbon-inspired dining, bourbon history and bourbon shopping. Bardstown is a worthy addition to your bucket—or barrel—list.

Our team prides ourself on our responsiveness and communication with our guests. But don’t take our word for it…
First time going to Kentucky and KBB provided us one of the better trips my family and I had in a while. The first call with Tyler to set up the weekend was smooth and effortless with a peace of mind. Throughout the weeks to the final day prior to this past weekend, I would call with a few questions and every person I spoke to felt like it was the owner. Extremely patient and knowledgeable with outstanding customer service. Our driver Ethan really took our initial experience and elevated it into two fantastic days. We went to four roses, Buffalo, Woodford, whiskey thief, willet, makers, and bardstown. Besides the tours and tastings being outstanding, seeing other KBB tours having the same experience as us was reassuring that we found the right company. I really appreciate KBB and the experience they provided. If you’re looking to go to Kentucky, do it right, Book KBB.
Kentucky Bourbon Boys would get six stars if I could rate them that high!! We’re already planning our trip back to Louisville & can’t wait to use them again. They were super helpful in the planning process and truly made our trip amazing. Our driver Rusty was so knowledgeable & went above and beyond for our group. We visited Limestone Distillery, Maker’s Mark and Bardstown. We had lunch at the Cozy Corner which our group thoroughly enjoyed. The tour was all inclusive and I literally cannot say better things about this tour service!!!
Rachelle J.
We used KBB for a bachelor party. First booking was very smooth and the coordination team was very prompt with communication about the tour. You also get more flexibility to pick distilleries that you want to visit vs just a set itinerary. They also pick you up from where you are staying so it is incredibly convenient. Larry W. was our tour guide and he was so kind, took pictures for us throughout the day, and shared fun facts and bourbon history on top of the tours we were able to take.
I can not stress enough how great of an experience we had and would 100% use them again for future bourbon country tours.
Katheryn K.
Had a great day with KBB on a custom tour. Have been on other bourbon tours, and it was so great to be able to customize our experience, Friendly, reliable, accommodating. Larry D was our driver and made it a wonderful day for us!
Great communication from start to finish. Our Driver Bobby was a great guy, very informative and helpful.
Our guide Justin was on time / professional / fun to be around. Everything was on schedule – he gave great recommendations on other things to do while we were in Lexington.

Great tour and guide(Amber) she was spot on with all her info would visit there again.Food was great at the restaurant -for a non bourbon drinker I enjoyed it as much as my husband did
Nick Smith, the head distiller, gives behind the scenes tours (I think) monthly. We booked his 3.5 hour tour and enjoyed it throughly. Highly recommend. There were 5 of us in our family (all adults) and we cannot give enough praise to how knowledgeable and personable Nick was. We truly got to go behind the scenes of ins and outs of Bardstown Bourbon Company.
We did the thieving tour and it was exceptional. Macy was an incredible tour guide. Patient, very knowledgeable, and funny too! Bourbon was great! Will be back!
Great to see the latest in Rickhouse. The glass feature was like a piece of art. Seeing the barrels through the glass is impressive! The bourbon tasting was unique. We were able To taste directly from the barrel uncut and unfiltered.
We did the Barrel Thieving Tour - great fun! Our guide, Samantha was very informative and made the experience a lot of fun! Great distillery and definitely should be on every Bourbon Trail itinerary!
Had a wonderful time at Bardstown Bourbon over the weekend. Our tour guide Macy was great. She took the time to answer all the questions and was incredibly knowledgeable on the whole process. We found the tour to be well worth the price and a lot of fun. We also ate lunch before the tour which was outstanding. Great drinks and food. Would highly recommend the tour and lunch for anyone in the Bardstown area.

Casual vibe. Fortunately we were able to come up after a tour. Service was excellent and the sandwich was fantastic. Great flavor and fry on the chicken. The fries were crispy and fresh. We had the Kentucky 75 and Getting Figgy with it. Both were delicious. The Kentucky 75 was very citrus forward. The Getting Figgy with it was sugary fig in an old fashioned. It was very sweet but very good. I could definitely see holding an event here, either a small wedding or retirement party. The space is very interesting with a great view of the Rickhouses from the patio. We will definitely be returning!
Great cocktail. Friendly staff. I just wished there were food options when we were there
Smores old fashioned
If you are planning on touring the Heaven Hill distillery definitely grab a craft cocktail or a pour of one of the amazing selections from the Heaven Hill line. I had the pleasure of visiting the distillery in the past but never had the chance to experience the 5 Brothers bar. It's a gorgeous bar that is spacious and has indoor and outdoor seating areas. It was derby week when I went and they also had some musicians setting the mood for the bar. Amazing pour selections to be had here and unique offerings from their mixologists. They also offers some snacks as well. If you have time to kill before or after a tour take the flight up the stairs to this beautiful bar!

Looking for a small town getaway? Here are 7 places in Kentucky you should visit
With warmer weather on the horizon, a weekend getaway to a comfy small town sure sounds pleasant.
Kentucky's distilleries and lakes are inviting, but many towns offer other kinds of fun worth a road trip across the Bluegrass State.
In alphabetical order, here are seven Kentucky towns you should consider visiting in 2024:
Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.
It is not hard to find a bottle of bourbon in a town that boasts itself as the "Bourbon Capital of the World." Heaven Hill is a prominent local distillery offering tours and tastings, but you may also want to check out Bardstown Bourbon Company and Lux Row Distillers . There is even a museum dedicated to bourbon history .
Bardstown was also named the "Best Christmas Town" in Kentucky by HGTV in 2023. If you plan a visit during the wintertime, try to catch the annual December parade.
Outside the hustle and bustle of Cincinnati, this Ohio River town has a relaxed vibe. Southern Living named it Kentucky's most charming town in 2023.
In Bellevue, you will find art galleries, boutiques and flower shops, all while surrounded by classic architecture. You may find yourself enjoying ice cream or a pretzel after a tour of downtown Cincinnati or a day at the Newport Aquarium.
Known as Kentucky's "Folk Arts and Crafts Capital," Berea is home to several artists who have designed sculptures, murals and architecture, all of which is worth posting about on Instagram. For the outdoorsy, plan to hike the Pinnacles of Berea, which Outside magazine crowned as the best trail in the state .
A trip to the Berea College campus is also a must. You will find art galleries, crafts stores, a candlemaker and a boutique, among other things. If you have a sweet tooth, you will want to stop by the Berea Fudge Shoppe.
For anyone looking to experience Kentucky history and enjoy some locally-made bourbon in the same day, Danville may be the town for you.
Kentucky's first constitution was drafted in Danville and the "father of modern surgery," Ephraim McDowell , was a native. Danville is also around 10 miles away from where Kentucky's most famous Civil War battle was fought.
Danville is home to a handful of distilleries, the most notable of which is Wilderness Trail . The award-winning spiritmaker is known for the sweet mash it uses in its distillation process. New for 2024 is the Luca Mariano Distillery , which grows the corn it uses to make bourbon.
Though it's a small community, Murray offers plenty of international flavor for foodies. You can find tikka masala, falafel, focaccia and Chicago deep dish pizza in town.
While there, you may want to follow the Calloway County Quilt Trail , a comfy countryside drive for those who appreciate art and history.
Murray is also a college town, home to about 10,000 students. If you attend a Saturday football game, don't be surprised if you see a thoroughbred gallop on the nearby track after every touchdown .
Hodgenville
Illinois may be the "Land of Lincoln," but one of the most iconic U.S. presidents was born in Kentucky — Hodgenville, more specifically.
Those who visit the log cabin Lincoln grew up in may feel the spirit of Kentucky's frontier. The historic park property also includes the Sinking Spring , where the Lincoln family would gather water.
When you are done visiting Lincoln's birthplace, consider stopping in Hodgenville's quaint downtown square for hamburgers and ice cream.
You can live like royalty at The Kentucky Castle , a four-star hotel that looks like it suits the Middle Ages. If you are on a budget, no worries, there are plenty of other things to do in Versailles.
Located roughly 30 minutes from Lexington, Versailles is a worth a stop if you are heading east from Louisville. Plan to visit the Nostalgia Station Toy and Train Museum , which features multiple model train sets and antique toys from as far back as the 1890s. You can also tour WinStar Farm , known for breeding several Kentucky Derby winners.

Jim Beam Will Soon Release Its Oldest Whiskey Ever Bottled
The super-aged bourbon will launch next month as part of the annual Bardstown Collection.
By Johnny Brayson
A bottle of rare, prestigious whiskey isn’t cool. You know what’s cool? A collection of rare, prestigious whiskeys. Just ask anyone who’s ever tried the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection ( Me. Ask me. ) and they’ll tell you there’s something extra special about running through a series of extra-special bottles , comparing and contrasting the different expressions as you go.
And although the BTAC remains the Holy Grail of annual American whiskey collection releases, a new challenger arrived on the scene in recent years and has been making waves. That challenger is the Bardstown Collection, which unlike the BTAC, is made up of whiskeys from multiple distilleries rather than one single distillery, meaning imbibers can expect even greater variety between bottles.
The lineup for 2024 was recently announced, and it includes bourbons from seven distilleries — up one from last year — all located in Bardstown, Kentucky . And while they all offer something special, it’s the bottle from Jim Beam — or rather, its parent distillery James B. Beam — that excites me the most.
The Oldest Bottle of Beam Ever Released
There isn’t a ton of info out there yet about the Bardstown Collection releases, with only brief descriptions of the bottles provided by Bardstown Tourism, the organizer of both the collection and the town’s National Bourbon Week where the bottles’ release will take place.
But here’s what we do know: The Bardstown Collection James B. Beam Distilling 2024 Release will be the oldest release ever from the brand. It’s aged for “close to 20 years,” putting it in the rarefied air of super-aged bourbons like Buffalo Trace’s Eagle Rare 25 , which debuted last year.
Bardstown has also released a smattering of tasting notes for the two-decade-old Beam, noting that it “delivers intense flavors of oak, vanilla and sweet smoke.” Finally, we have a supposed label from the bottle courtesy of prospective resellers such as Barbank . According to the label, the whiskey clocks in at 96 proof (48% ABV) and comes in a full-size 750mL bottle.
Want a Bottle? Go to Bardstown
The James B. Beam Distilling Co. Bardstown Collection selection will be released alongside six other bourbons from Heaven Hill Distillery, Log Still Distillery, Bardstown Bourbon Company, Limestone Branch Distillery, Lux Row Distillers and Preservation Distillery, respectively.
All seven bottles will launch at varying points throughout the first-ever National Bourbon Week , which takes place in Bardstown from June 11 – 16. Fewer than 500 bottles from each distillery will be made available, and you’ll only be able to buy them in person at their respective distilleries. The James B. Beam bottle will be the last to release, acting as a sort of grand finale for the week and going on sale at the company’s distillery on June 14 at noon local time.
If you’re not looking to buy and are more interested in tasting the whiskeys in the 2024 Bardstown Collection, you can buy a ticket to either the launch party on June 11 or go on a VIP tour that visits each distillery. The latter gives you more flexibility, with dates in June, July and August of this year.

The lineup for 2024 was recently announced, and it includes bourbons from seven distilleries — up one from last year — all located in Bardstown, Kentucky. And while they all offer something special, it's the bottle from Jim Beam — or rather, its parent distillery James B. Beam — that excites me the most.
