If you're a fan of going to the movies, odds are you've seen at least one Tom Cruise project. The "Mission: Impossible" star is absurdly famous around the world. As a result, many parts of his life have played out in very public ways on very public stages. 

Cruise is also a dad to three children. He shares his oldest, Isabella and Connor, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman , and his youngest, Suri , with ex-wife Katie Holmes. While it's clear that Cruise has a great relationship with Isabella and Connor, and both children are active members of his Scientology faith (per The U.S. Sun ), it's less clear what kind of relationship — if any — that he has with Suri. In fact, when Holmes and Cruise divorced, he affirmed that Holmes' desire to keep Suri out of the Scientology faith was a factor in their split (per HuffPost ).

The last public photos of Cruise and Suri date all the way back to 2012, when the two were snapped visiting Disneyland (per Yahoo! ). Here's a look into Tom Cruise's relationship with Suri and where it stands today.

Tom Cruise was so excited about Katie's pregnancy that he bought a sonogram machine

Like a lot of expectant parents, Tom Cruise was ecstatic about the impending arrival of his third child, Suri Cruise. In fact, he was so excited about Suri that he reportedly bought his own ultrasound machine so that he could see her every day. Cruise told Barbara Walters about the purchase, which can cost up to $200,000 (per  BBC News ). He seemed to understand that the purchase was on the lavish end, as he reassured people that the machine would be donated to a hospital after Katie Holmes gave birth.

However, not everyone thought the act was a great idea. In fact, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine issued a statement condemning the act, noting that the buy bordered on abusing the equipment. President Lennard Greenbaum, MD, said, in part, that "Tom Cruise's recent purchase of an ultrasound machine for personal use at home is both inappropriate and in violation of FDA rules addressing the sale of medical equipment."

Tom Cruise described his daughter Suri's birth as 'spiritual'

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes welcomed Suri Cruise on April 18, 2006 . From all accounts, and especially from Cruise's, Suri's arrival into the world was fairly extraordinary. In fact, only a few days after her birth, Cruise described the experience to "20/20" and still seemed in awe of everything he witnessed (via ABC News ). He said, "It was everything that we wanted it to be. ... It was spiritual. It was powerful. It was indescribable."

Plenty of outlets shared news of Suri's birth, as public interest in the newborn was quite high. CBS News  noted that Suri weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces, and clocked in at 20 inches long. A representative for Cruise and Holmes also shared information about her name, noting that Suri has Hebrew origins and can mean "princess," as well as Persian roots, which could give her name the meaning "red rose." 

Notably, Cruise and Holmes were also able to leave their home to head to the hospital in private, which was quite a feat considering the vast amount of attention they were receiving at the time.

Tom Cruise and Suri Cruise appeared to have a good relationship until 2012

In 2004, a then-engaged Katie Holmes admitted to Seventeen that she had once fantasized about marrying Tom Cruise (per HuffPost ). Fast-forward a few years, and Holmes found herself walking away from the very marriage she once said she wanted.

From all appearances, Tom Cruise and daughter Suri had a solid parent-child relationship up until 2012. That was the year that Katie Holmes filed for divorce in a move that apparently surprised Cruise. While speaking to German TV network ProSieben (via CBS News ), he admitted that he didn't see the divorce coming at all, saying, "I didn't expect it." He added, "Life is a tragicomedy. You need to have a sense of humor."

It seems that after he recovered from the shock of his wife of six years wanting a divorce, he bounced back pretty quickly. InStyle noted that the two were able to work through their divorce pretty quickly, with a settlement being reached after only 11 days. 

He admitted that Katie Holmes left him to 'protect' Suri from Scientology

While Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have been pretty quiet when it comes for the exact hows and whys of their divorce, when pushed, Cruise definitely let something slip: One of big reasons Holmes said she wanted a divorce was reportedly to "protect" their daughter, Suri, from Cruise's religion, Scientology . The admission came out during his deposition during a libel lawsuit he filed against a tabloid. When asked if Holmes felt she had to protect Suri by leaving the relationship, as reported by  HuffPost , he first replied that the question was "offensive" and that "there is no need to protect my daughter from my religion," before saying, "Did she say that? That was one of the assertions, yes."

On top of that, Cruise also admitted that Suri was no longer a practicing member of the religion (per TMZ ). While HuffPost asserts this means Suri has now been deemed a "suppressive person" in the eyes of the Church of Scientology, there have been no public statements made to that effect. Notably, "suppressive" people are often, if not always, "cut off" from those that are still active members of Scientology.

Tom Cruise was not awarded custody of Suri

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes hammered out the details of their divorce settlement in 11 days (per InStyle ), which is pretty remarkable. Surprisingly to many, Cruise was not awarded custody of the pair's daughter, Suri Cruise, at all, and instead walked away from the discussions with visitation rights only. In fact, Tom Cruise was told he can visit with Suri up to 10 days a month, according to Us Weekly .

Cruise also committed to a fairly hefty sum for child support, and TMZ reported that he pays over $33,000 a month for Suri's care. While that's noting to sniff at, it's a far cry from the sum a judge could have probably ordered him to pay if the divorce had gone to court, especially as his overall net worth is believed to be approximately $600 million (per Celebrity Net Worth ). Cruise is also in charge of covering any necessary expenses Suri might rack up, including medical and dental insurance, schooling, and college, and he also funds extracurricular activities (per TMZ).

It sounds like Tom Cruise doesn't always see Suri in person

Even though the custody agreement struck between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes makes it clear that he can see their daughter, Suri Cruise, for 10 days a month, it seems like he hasn't been able to make that happen. On top of that, a source apparently close to the situation told Us Weekly that this seems to be a deliberate choice that Cruise is making. The source told the publication, "Every person is allowed to see their child if they wanted to. He chooses not to because she is not a Scientologist."

Outspoken critic of Scientology Tony Ortega spoke to Us Weekly about what might be going on behind closed doors, explaining that it's possible Holmes signed a document agreeing not to speak badly of the religion in order to get full custody. Ortega added that Holmes only had one objective: to take care of Suri. He said, "She wanted to get away and she wanted to get Suri."

In 2013, Tom Cruise admitted he hadn't seen Suri Cruise for 100 days

Things only got messier for Tom Cruise in the year after his divorce was finalized. In 2013, he admitted that he hadn't seen his youngest child for at least 100 days, explaining that his prolonged absence was due to his filming schedule. 

According to  People , Cruise said in a deposition hearing for her lawsuit again Bauer Publishing that it was "impossible" for him to see Suri during that time, and on top of that, he claimed that the then 7-year-old seemed just fine without him. After sharing that he's "very good" at talking to his daughter on the phone, Cruise added, "I also find that, you know, Suri is a very happy child, and confident, and has a good sense of herself."

He further explained that, though he missed Suri's first day of school, that was because his daughter didn't ask him to be there herself.

How long has it been since he's seen his daughter in person?

While Tom Cruise might have been able to explain why he didn't see Suri Cruise for 100 days, he then reportedly missed out on seeing his daughter in person for over 1,000 days. In 2016, In Touch Weekly reported that Cruise had not seen or exchanged words with Suri in over two and a half years. A source allegedly close to the situation told the publication that the pair had been using video chat and text messaging to stay in touch but that it had slowed down, before adding that Suri no longer really bought her father's explanations for why he was missing. The source said, "He uses his film commitments as an excuse, but the truth is that doesn't hold much weight with Suri anymore."

As in the past, some believe that Cruise's religion is the reason why he keeps missing out on his daughter's life. The same source told In Touch as much, noting, "He's disconnected from Katie, and then de facto from Suri, because of her connection to Katie. He hasn't seen her since she was 7."

A friend reportedly said Tom Cruise never meant to 'be estranged' from Suri

Despite Tom Cruise's reportedly prolonged period of estrangement from Suri, an alleged friend of his has stated that the actor never meant to be so far removed from his daughter. While speaking to Hollywood Life in 2019, the friend explained that, even though Cruise isn't with Suri on important days like her birthday, he's always planning for them. The friend said, "Tom does plan to send Suri a gift and call her on her birthday."

The friend added that Cruise has a lot of love for Suri, and that being this distant from his daughter wasn't something he anticipated when he and Katie Holmes welcomed Suri to the world. The friend explained, "Tom never intended to be estranged from his daughter when he decided to have a family with Katie and looks forward to repairing the relationship one day."

While it's unclear when Cruise will ever reconnect with his daughter, assuming the reports about their estrangement are true, one thing that is certainly true is that the path getting to this point has been long, winding, and, truth be told, quite confusing. Perhaps the two will grow closer when Suri is an adult.

Tom Cruise doesn't live in the same state as Suri

One factor that likely complicates the relationship between Tom Cruise and daughter Suri is that they don't live in the same state — or even the same country. While Suri lives in New York City with her mom, Katie Holmes, Cruise has reportedly been living in London, England, since April 2021 (per In Touch Weekly ).

A source told the publication that the city is a natural fit for Cruise, explaining that he especially enjoys the rainy weather and being able to walk around his new home. He is also reportedly fond of the city because of the anonymity it lends him. The source said, "If he wears a hat and mask, he can slip into bookstores or antique shops and no one knows it's him. He's got family living there, too, which gives him a sense of belonging."

As for Suri, she and her mom moved to New York following the divorce. Holmes admitted to InStyle in 2020 that the city isn't quite as private as she'd like, but she said that the city is just right for her and Suri. She shared, "What I love about New York is that for me and my child, this is our vibe."

But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people. And it’s this safe, beautiful, creative space. So it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly. That’s how I like to work. I like to have that kind of feeling. It was very meaningful to me to have her there, because she’s my heart.”

According to the Daily Mail , Suri is reportedly applying for college to study fashion.

While a source said Suri was “applying for schools all over the place”, they also divulged that Holmes would prefer she stay close to home in New York City. 

In her interview with Glamour , Holmes confessed a continued desire to protect her daughter.

“What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her,” she said. “I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person.”

Suri and Holmes are frequently sighted together around New York, and reportedly quarantined together at their home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Does Tom Cruise see Suri Cruise?

According to recent reports from Page Six , Tom Cruise does not have a relationship with his daughter. 

Sources say he has not seen Suri in a decade, with their last meeting thought to be in 2013, around a year after Cruise’s split from Holmes.

It is rumoured Cruise’s Church of Scientology prohibits him from seeing “non-believers”, which includes Suri and Holmes. Holmes’ choice to leave the faith is reportedly part of the reason behind the pair’s divorce.

TMZ previously reported that the divorce settlement required Tom to pay child support of USD $400,000 (approx. AU $624,836) per year until Suri is 18. 

However, now that Suri is legally an adult, she can make a decision about whether she wants to talk about her relationship with her father and what it was like to be raised by a member of the Church Of Scientology. 

While it’s suspected that Cruise’s three ex-wives—Mini Rogers, Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes—may have signed non-disclosure agreements about their time with Cruise (largely due them never really opening up about the marriages), Suri would have been to young to sign one. 

This gives her a lot of freedom and power, if she chooses to take it.

It was one of the most high-profile celebrity relationships—and subsequent divorces—in recent memory, made all the more sensational thanks to his ties with the controversial Church of Scientology. Does Tom Cruise see Suri is a valid question, though the answer is complicated and will depend on who you ask.  

Does Tom Cruise see Suri?

It would appear Tom Cruise doesn’t see Suri all that often. Ever since Holmes and Cruise’s divorce, the  Jerry Maguire  star has rarely been spotted with his daughter. Holmes has full custody of Suri and lives with her in New York City today. The last known photos of Suri and her dad are from nearly a decade ago in 2012 when the pair visited Disneyland together.

A source who spoke to Hollywood Life in April 2019 revealed that despite their estranged relationship, Tom “still loves” Suri. “As challenging as things have become for him and his daughter, he still loves her,” the insider revealed at the time. “Tom never intended to be estranged from his daughter when he decided to have a family with Katie, and he looks forward to repairing their relationship one day.”

Famous former Scientologist, King of Queens star Leah Remini claimed Cruise was waiting until Suri was older to “indoctrinate” her into Scientology. “Scientology considers Katie a suppressive person which is an enemy and therefore Tom believes, like all Scientologists, that he can’t be connected to Suri,” Remini told The Post in 2020. “I’m sure his master plan is to wait until Suri gets older so that he can lure her into Scientology and away from her mother.”

During his deposition , Cruise responded to the insinuation: “Listen, I find that question offensive,” he said. “I find it—those statements offensive. And like with any relationship, there are many different levels to it. You know, I—I find it very offensive. There is no need to protect my daughter from my religion.” The attorney pushed further, asking, “And Ms. Holmes has never indicated in any way that was one of the reasons she left you? … To protect Suri from Scientology?” He says, “Did she say that? That was one of the assertions, yes.”

While Holmes and Suri have distanced themselves from Scientology, Connor and Bella Cruise are in the thick of it.

Isabella “Bella” Cruise is Cruise’s eldest child. She was adopted by Cruise and his then-wife Nicole Kidman during their marriage, which lasted for a decade until 2001. Like her dad, Bella is a notoriously private person. What we do know about her is that she’s currently based in London, where she works as an artist and owns her own company. Bella is also married to Max Parker, an IT consultant.

When Bella got married in 2015, there was some speculation that she was estranged from her mother and father because neither attended the wedding. The artist has since shut down those claims, telling the  Daily Mail  in 2016, “Of course [we talk], they’re my parents. Anyone who says otherwise is full of shit.”

While his half-sister Suri may not have a strong relationship with their dad, Connor does seem to be close with the  Mission Impossible  actor. Both he and his adoptive sister Bella were raised in the Church of Scientology with their father and have been spotted spending time with the actor on multiple occasions now that they’re all grown up. Most recently, Cruise took his son out to a ball game in San Francisco in October 2021, where the pair were spotted by fans on the jumbotron.

Tom Cruise continues to be estranged from his daughter, Suri Cruise, Page Six can confirm.

A source tells us exclusively that the “Mission: Impossible” star, 60, has not seen the 16-year-old in a very long time and is not a part of her life.

Reps for Tom did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

The movie star welcomed Suri with his then-girlfriend, Katie Holmes, in April 2006, but after the former couple split in 2011 , the father-daughter duo drifted further and further apart.

Tom admitted in transcripts from his 2012 defamation lawsuit against Bauer Media that he had not seen Suri for three months right after he and Holmes, now 44, called it quits.

“Listen, when there is a divorce … things change,” he told lawyers in 2013. “It’s not an ideal scene. It’s not an ideal situation.”

During a deposition for that same $50 million suit — which was ultimately settled — the “Top Gun” star confessed that his ties to Scientology had played a pivotal role in why he was separated from his kid.

When asked whether Holmes had left him “in part to protect Suri from Scientology,” Tom responded at the time, “That was one of the assertions, yes.”

In 2016, the controversial church was once again blamed for keeping Tom and Suri apart because, according to its rules, members are forbidden from associating with nonbelievers.

Since neither Suri nor Holmes were Scientologists, Tom reportedly could not have a relationship with either one.

“This is his loss, his issue, his problem,” a source told Page Six at the time. “He must be really brainwashed.”

Former Scientologist Leah Remini told The Post in 2020 that Scientology considers Holmes a “suppressive person,” which is an “enemy,” and therefore Tom believes he “can’t be connected to Suri.”

The “King of Queens” alum, who has been fighting to publicly expose the alleged misdeeds of the Church of Scientology, speculated of Tom, “I’m sure his master plan is to wait until Suri gets older so that he can lure her into Scientology and away from her mother.”

Aside from the drama involving her father, Suri appears to live a relatively normal life with her mom in New York City.

Over the years, she has been photographed casually going for a stroll in the Big Apple and hanging with a small group of friends .

In 2017, Holmes spoke about wanting to give her daughter a “stable” childhood .

The “Dawson’s Creek” alum told Town & Country at the time, “My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now.

“It’s very important that I’m present and she has a stable, innocent childhood. I feel so blessed to do what I do, but there’s nothing in the world better than watching your child succeed.”

Holmes’ rep did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

Suri Cruise — America’s infant sweetheart — is 18 today. A legal adult! Suri. Cruise . Who was once the most public celebrity child, can now register to vote (yay!), and buy cigarettes (please don’t!) and buy lottery tickets (although, does she need to hit the jackpot?).

We’re sure she’ll get a whole lot of love today from her lookalike mom Katie Holmes. But the question on everyone’s mind is, will she hear from dad Tom Cruise ? The two have a notoriously estranged relationship. So much so, that it’s believed they haven’t seen each other since Holmes and Cruise divorced in 2012.

Cruise is a leading figure in Scientology, and in “typical” situations, members of the Church are not allowed to speak to family members who left the Church. But given Cruise’s profile, it’s unlikely that rule will be enforced.

“If you are a regular church member you could be told to disconnect from your wife and daughter, but because Tom is a celebrity — he’s the top celebrity — he gets to ignore all this stuff,” Scientology reporter Tony Ortega previously said . “Your average member would be kicked out, but [the leader of Scientology] David Miscavige can’t do that with Tom.”

So will Suri be getting a birthday call? It’s hard to say. There’s plenty of precedent to think she’ll be getting an extravagant gift. He’s certainly been generous with costars on their big days. Dakota Fanning recently told Harper’s Bazaar that Cruise has been getting her birthday gifts every year since they costarred in War of the Worlds in 2005, when she was just 11 years old. Plus, he got her her first cell phone.

“It was a Razr, Motorola Razr,” she recalled. “Oh, my God, I was so excited … I felt so cool,” she said, despite “not having anybody to call or text.”

Plus, in court documents obtained by the New York Post , former Scientologist Leah Remini claimed she was made to “raise money for Scientology causes led by Cruise” and “ forced to donate money to name a seat in a Scientology auditorium after Suri.”

… Just what every teen wants!

Or , will Suri be the one to make a move? Maybe instead of getting a birthday tribute from her dad, she’ll be posting an Instagram tell-all. Holmes likely had to sign nondisclosure agreements at the time of the divorce that keeps her from talking about her former marriage and time inside the Church of Scientology, but Suri would have been too young to have a signature — much less sign a contract.

“She will now be free to talk if she wants to and it’s going to be really interesting if she has something to say,” Ortega said.

Regardless of how any family drama plays out, we’re wishing Suri a very happy 18th birthday!

It seems like Tom Cruise can do just about anything he sets his mind to. From flying planes to skydiving, the man seems unstoppable. However, there's one thing the "Top Gun: Maverick" actor struggles with, and that's keeping up a relationship with his daughter, Suri Cruise .

Suri is one of Tom's three children and is the only child from his marriage with actor Katie Holmes. In 2006, Holmes and Tom welcomed a young Suri into what seemed like a perfect little family as they shot the cover of Vanity Fair. Before their divorce, the father-daughter duo had a solid relationship and he even shared with Oprah that Suri would offer him fashion advice, per People. However, when Holmes and Cruise divorced  in 2012, things took a turn.

Since the divorce, Tom has rarely been seen with Suri, as their last public appearance was back in 2012. Even as the years have passed, it seems that the duo still struggles to have any sort of relationship. In 2019, a source told HollywoodLife , "As challenging as things have become for him and his daughter, he still loves her. Tom never intended to be estranged from his daughter when he decided to have a family with Katie, and he looks forward to repairing their relationship one day." That day still seems far away because even as Suri is nearing a momentous time in her life, Tom is only playing one key role in it.

Tom Cruise is reportedly paying Suri's college tuition

It's almost time for Suri Cruise to leave the nest and begin her college journey. According to the  Daily Mail , the 16-year-old has already started applying to different colleges. Her love for fashion never stopped since giving Tom Cruise style advice, because the young teen is considering fashion school. While they were close back then, the father-daughter duo is anything but now. A source shared, "Suri does not know her father anymore and she has not spent time with him in a decade. She does not go to see his movies, and he has no part in her life." Because of their estranged relationship, Tom reportedly has hardly any input in his daughter's college education. On the other hand, his ex-wife, Katie Holmes is heavily involved in the process, per The Daily Mail. A source shared, "Suri is applying to schools all over the place. [Katie] really does want her to stay in New York so they can be close to each other."

Despite his lack of involvement in Suri's college adventure, there's one thing Tom is said to play a key role in — finances. Per the Daily Mail, Tom and Holmes' divorce agreement requires the actor to pay for his daughter's college expenses. Although he hasn't been present in her life, the source shared that he has "always maintained his responsibilities" for his daughter's finances. So, Suri will definitely have no problem paying for whatever school she attends.

Tom and Suri Cruise barely know each other

The predominant rumor as to why Katie Holmes has retained almost full custody of Suri Cruise is due to her distrust of Tom Cruise's Scientology practice. During his divorce trial, Tom admitted that he suspected Holmes had left him and did her best to keep Suri from him because the religion made her uncomfortable. However, things are slightly more layered than that, as a rumored tenant of Scientology is that members are forbidden from associating with non-members. Tom is one of the highest-ranking members and would be under pressure to follow such rules. "This is his loss, his issue, his problem," a source told Page Six. "He must be really brainwashed."

Holmes reportedly did her best to keep Tom away from Suri, going as far as to file for divorce in New York rather than California as she thought that would give her a better chance of gaining full custody and getting Suri out of her Scientology-backed school in Los Angeles. Holmes allegedly developed a deep distrust of the church during her marriage to Tom, who is said to have become controlling and off-putting since converting. "To him, any partner is an extension of him — and his brand — so he's known to be very micromanaging," a source close to Tom told Radar .

Scientology may have stood in the way of his relationship with Holmes, and his daughter, Suri, but Tom has managed to remain extremely close to his older children.

Tom Cruise is still close with his other kids

Just like his relationship with Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise's marriage to his second wife, Nicole Kidman, left him in the early 2000s due to his ties to Scientology. It was widely reported at the time that Tom left Kidman after she allegedly refused to convert to Scientology for him. Kidman was labeled a "suppressive person" by the church, who reportedly urged Tom and the two children they share to cut her off.

As part of their divorce, Tom and Kidman agreed to share custody of their children, Isabella and Connor, but according to insiders, it was in name only, as the kids were devoted to Tom and his religion. As recently as 2022, they hyped his film "Top Gun: Maverick" on their social media. "Connor and Isabella grew up in the church of Scientology; they've been members since they were kids," a source told People in 2019. "Connor has been able to remain close with Tom because of Scientology." As for Isabella, she moved to London and has reportedly decided not to take any financial handouts from either of her parents — though she insists she is still close to them.

Kidman, on the other hand, insists she hasn't spoken to either Connor or Bella in years, though she still loves them from afar. "They are adults," Kidman told Who Magazine (via Daily Mail ). "They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it's my job to love them."

Suri Cruise , the daughter of Hollywood star Tom Cruise , was spotted celebrating her 18th birthday in New York City. The teenager was seen carrying a present bag and sporting a chic all-denim outfit.

Despite being miles away from her father, who is currently busy filming in London, Suri seemed to be enjoying her special day. She's expected to spend her birthday with her mum, Katie Holmes , at their home in the US.

Tom, 61, who is shooting scenes for the upcoming Mission Impossible movie, is unlikely to join his daughter's milestone celebration. This follows recent reports suggesting that Tom has little involvement in Suri's life.

Katie, 45, is said to be deeply involved in supporting her daughter's next big step, as Suri prepares for college. "Suri does not know her father anymore and she has not spent time with him in a decade. She does not go to see his movies and he has no part in her life," an insider revealed to MailOnline .

Despite their estrangement, Tom is set to cover Suri's educational expenses in line with their divorce settlement. The agreement stipulates that Tom will contribute $400,000 annually in child support until Suri turns 18, covering all her essential costs including "medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular costs".

Suri might pursue a fashion degree in New York, with Fordham University being a potential choice. "Suri is applying to schools all over the place. [Katie] really does want her to stay in New York so they can be close to each other. Katie takes great pride in her but is also extremely overprotective," the source added.

Katie has reportedly been cautious about keeping Suri's life away from public scrutiny and her ex-husband's Scientology beliefs. The couple's marriage began with a Scientologist ceremony in Italy in 2006, but over time, Katie's discomfort with the church grew.

According to reports, Katie was determined not to raise Suri in the Church of Scientology, fearing she might become estranged from her daughter as apparently happened with Tom's ex Nicole Kidman and their children. As per a 2016 MailOnline article, Katie was incensed when Scientologists moved into their shared home.

Ron Miscavige, father of Scientology leader David Miscavige, described the church's practice of "disconnection" as "toxic" in an interview with MailOnline, which took place five years before his passing in 2016. He revealed: "That didn't sit so well with Katie."

Tom Cruise has nothing to do with his daughter Suri's life as she applies to college, it has been reported.

Katie Holmes and Tom's daughter 16-year-old daughter is thought to have already been applying to colleges but without the help of her dad due to their lack of relationship.

Suri, who turns 17 next month, has been thinking about her future which could include going to a fashion college in New York.

It's thought that Katie is heavily involved in the application process as she helps her daughter to take the next step in her life.

However, Tom has been estranged from his daughter since 2013, a year after he and Katie divorced.

The Daily Mail reported that Suri and Tom do not stay in contact with each other.

A source said: "Suri does not know her father anymore and she has not spent time with him in a decade. She does not go to see his movies and he has no part in her life."

Despite this, Tom will pay his daughter's tuition costs per his divorce agreement.

According to their divorce documents, Tom agreed to pay Katie $400,000 a month until Suri turned 18 years old.

Tom also agreed to pay all of Suri's expenses, including "medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular costs".

It's possible that Suri could go on to study fashion in New York and is apparently "leaning towards" studying at Fordham University.

"Suri is applying to schools all over the place. [Katie] really does want her to stay in New York so they can be close to each other. Katie takes great pride in her but is also extremely overprotective," the insider shared.

When Katie and Tom called time on their relationship, it was reported that Katie had chosen to end the couple's marriage over fears about raising her daughter as a Scientologist which is Tom's religion.

Katie's decision to leave the religion and the marriage caused a rift between the former couple, which has seen Tom and Suri's relationship become distant.

The Mirror have reached out to Tom and Katie's reps for comment.

Suri Cruise looked so grown up on Wednesday when she she was captured heading on vacation with her mother, Katie Holmes  from New York. 

The mother-daughter duo were pictured getting into a car with their luggage as they headed off for the Easter weekend. Suri's beautiful long hair took centre stage of the pre-holiday snaps. The 17-year-old donned a pair of fabulously vibrant red trousers covered in white swirls, a corduroy navy blue jacket with a shearling collar and black trainers. 

Meanwhile, mom Katie oozed glamour wearing an oversized army-green jacket and beige trousers. The actress slipped on a pair of dark sunglasses, and opted for a pair of chunky black sandals for footwear.

The mother-daughter trip came just weeks before Suri turns 18 on April 18. Katie is exceptionally private about her daughter, and whether or not she will go to college has yet to be revealed. 

However, Suri has been involved in two of her mother's movies, Alone Together and Rare Objects, where she can be heard showing off her impressive singing voice.

Therefore, it is likely that the youngster may want to follow in her movie star parent's footsteps for a career in Hollywood.  Listen to Suri's incredible vocals in the video below.

Prior to their latest appearance in New York, the duo were spotted back in December for  Katie's 45th birthday celebrations.  The pair couldn't have looked more similar in the photos.

Katie looked effortlessly glamorous,  sporting a grey and black leopard print maxi dress, which she paired with classic white boots. 

Meanwhile, Suri was wrapped in a cozy grey tweed coat, oversized maroon scarf and black pointed-toe heels.

KATIE Holmes has celebrated her daughter Suri Cruise's big 18th birthday somewhere else.

The actress was spotted grabbing dinner with a mystery man, as Suri partied without her mom or dad, Tom Cruise , anywhere in sight.

Katie smiled as she walked closely behind her unknown friend.

The 45-year-old Dawson's Creek star showed off a full-length black trench coat covering blue jeans with a wild frilly pattern.

She added a pair of dark oval sunglasses, despite it being nighttime.

Katie's pal was dressed more casually, in a gray turtleneck under a green coat into which he plunged his hands.

He paired it with some pink slacks and a denim hat.

The two arrived for a meal at Sant Ambroeus Italian restaurant in New York City .

Suri wore a nude tank top with an oversized burgundy cardigan, baggy jeans, and black sneakers and carried a denim jacket over her arm.

She carried a cup of coffee in one hand and treated herself to several blooms from a local flower shop.

As rain started trickling down, Suri hid under an umbrella, while carrying a gift bag from a friend.

Her famous father missed her big day as well, as he was across the pond in London filming new scenes for his next adventure as Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible franchise.

Suri has effectively shunned her father Tom, 61, and the limelight, following his divorce from Katie when she was just five years old.

Katie  gained sole custody of Suri  after the 2012 split, along with a generous financial settlement.

As rumors swirled about the cause of the split — with the finger pointed firmly at Tom’s association with the religion Scientology — Suri and Katie went off the radar for years, rebuilding their lives in  New York , 2,400 miles away from  Los Angeles -based Tom.

Under the watchful eye of her protective mom, she hasn’t spoken to or seen her movie-star dad since Christmas 2013.

A source previously told MailOnline , "Suri does not know her father anymore and she has not spent time with him in a decade.

"She does not go to see his movies and he has no part in her life."

DAWSON'S SNEAK?

As for Katie's love life - she is still dodging questions about a possible relationship with co-star James Van Der Beek when they were young stars on Dawson's Creek.

Speaking during a Q&A with fans in March, one person asked James, 47, who played the role of Dawson Leery, if he ever had an off-screen romance with Katie, who played Joey Potter. 

After hearing the question, fans were hoping for a big reveal, according to an insider, but then were left disappointed with his response.

Taking a moment to think about the best answer, James soon replied, "What happens in the creek stays in the creek."

When Tom and Katie split in 2023, it only took them weeks to finalize a divorce settlement and custody arrangement, which seemed to give the Dawson’s Creek actress primary custody of their daughter. Tom allegedly hasn’t seen Suri in over a decade following the divorce.

Tom has a significantly larger fortune that his ex-wife, explaining why he was likely so ready to take on the financial obligations of paying for Suri’s college. Tom Cruise’s net worth is reportedly $600 million , while Katie Holmes’ net worth is approximately $25 million .

Tom and Suri allegedly have no contact, though he financially supports his daughter. However, that may change, as it’s been reported that Tom may be distancing himself from the Church of Scientology .

It's been speculated that Tom’s religion played a part in his divorce from Katie. Rumors suggest she may have agreed to stay silent about what she knows of the mysterious religion in exchange for Tom providing for their daughter while agreeing to be a minimal influence in her life. To this day, Katie has never publicly discussed her marriage to Tom nor her involvement in Scientology. She’s reportedly been raising Suri Catholic , even sending her to a private school.

Tom has two older children, Isabella and Connor, with his other ex-wife Nicole Kidman, who has also been hesitant to speak on Scientology. Their children remain active members of the church, with Isabella even promoted to an Auditor in 2019 . The graphic designer credits the controversial religion for saving her life.

So far, Tom has not responded to rumors about him quitting Scientology or where his relationship stands with his youngest daughter.
