Electric Six announce 15th studio album Turquoise

Arriving five years after their last mainline album, Electric Six will be releasing ‘Turquoise’ – formally ‘Born to be Ridiculed’ on September 8th 2023 via Metropolis Records.

The 14-track album includes the title track and ‘Panic! Panic!’ which has previously been released as a demo, alongside its pandemic-themed video.

‘Panic! Panic!’, ‘Child of Hunger’ and one other, as yet unconfirmed track, have been played live at recent concerts.

Electric Six. The band that put out an album a year for what seemed like 666 years. The most reliable act in show business, there was simply no question that each year would bring another E6 record on Metropolis Records. Mayans based their calendar on Electric Six. Flocks of migrating birds used the new Electric Six record as a homing device. Small time criminals were sentenced to four to seven E6 albums with time off for wonderful behavior. In a business so fickle, so unreliable, so difficult to navigate…the only constant was Electric Six. There was always an album a year… ….until there wasn’t. Five years has gone by since the last Electric Six offering and we’ve heard the chatter. “Electric Six just doesn’t have it anymore.” “Electric Six has really let me down.” “Gotye will have an album before Electric Six does.” As we all know…talk is cheap. And bullshit walks. And now there’s a new goddamn Electric Six record ready to go and it’s good, Jack. Real good. Behold Turquoise is here, the long awaited studio album return of Electric Six!!! Perhaps the catchiest, brightest album in their catalog, Electric Six reminds you how profoundly fun they can be, hitting you over the head with fourteen pop explosions guaranteed to burrow their way into your dance hole. The recording of Turquoise began in January of 2020, but you know, something distracted us for a couple of years shortly after starting the record. The pandemic tacked a bit of time onto the schedule of this project and Electric Six certainly felt the need to tap into the collective feelings of the time in tracks like “Panic! Panic!” and the title track “Turquoise”. The overall vibe of Turquoise ranges from the infectious pop of “Take Me To The Sugar” and “Staten Island Ass Squad”, to the heavy rock of “Child Of Hunger” and “Skywriting”, to the Springsteeny goodness of “Units of Time”. Electric Six is a band for all tastes, all times and all sizes. The pandemic slowed us all down and ripped time into shreds. It forced Electric Six to take a little time to look at itself in the mirror. And who did Electric Six see staring back? The answer? It saw Electric Six. It saw Turquoise. When a band finally makes an album this exciting, it doesn’t need to do anything else anymore anytime soon ever again. But it will…..Electric Six can never die. And we are still the band that does one album a year….if you re-define “year”. Which we do.

Everyone’s favourite disco-punk act Electric Six return to the UK/RoI in November and December to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their chartbusting debut album, Fire, which was home to the hit singles “Danger! High Voltage”, “Gay Bar”, and “Dance Commander”. The set will see the entire record performed in its entirety, as well as fan favourites and new songs.

ELECTRIC SIX ANNOUNCE ‘FIRE’ 20TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR

Detroit’s most dependable aberrant dance rock experience, Electric Six have announced the details of a huge 20th anniversary tour of their iconic album ‘Fire’ this year, which will include a very special headline show at Manchester Club Academy on Wednesday 29th November.

Join Dick Valentine, The White Wolf, Tait Nucleus, Dr. J and Herb S. Flavorings as they come to you with their unique style of rock and roll good times. With sixteen albums under their belt and a new one coming out later this year, the band will be playing their debut album ‘Fire’ in its entirety including all the fan favourites  ‘Danger! High Voltage’,   ‘Gay Bar’ ,  ‘Dance Commander’,  as well as a mix of additional songs from the records.

Electric Six returning to Bristol as part of UK tour

F ollowing their debut album's 20th anniversary and comeback album tour in 2023, Electric Six are returning to Bristol later this year as part of a UK Academy Tour. Playing Bristol's O2 Academy on December 6, the band from Detroit will be headlining just seven shows in the UK as part of this run.

Tickets are on sale now at £27 each, and the band promises a mix of new tracks and old classics, including their massive 2003 hit 'Danger! High Voltage', as well as 'Dance Commander' and 'Gay Bar'. These songs earned them a major cult following in the UK.

The band's sound is described as 'mixing garage rock, disco, punk, new wave, and metal into cleverly dumb, in-your-face songs celebrating hedonism in multiple forms' and their latest album 'Turquoise' has been eagerly awaited.

Since their success in 2003, Electric Six have released 15 studio albums, two rarities albums, one live album and a live DVD. Band members are given unique stage names and, after many changes over the years, co-founder, lead vocalist and primary songwriter Dick Valentine has been the only constant member.

He'll be back in Bristol in December, alongside the current line-up consisting of lead guitarist 'Johnny Na$hinal', keyboardist 'Tait Nucleus?', rhythm guitarist 'Herb S. Flavourings', drummer 'Dr. J' and bassist 'Smorgasbord'.

Electric Six. The most reliable act in show business, there was simply no question that each year would bring another Electric Six record. Mayans based their calendar on it.

Migrating birds used the new Electric Six record as a homing device. Small time criminals got four to seven E6 albums with time off for wonderful behaviour.

In a business so fickle, so unreliable, so difficult to navigate, the only constant was Electric Six. There was always an album a year. Until there wasn’t. 

Five years has gone by….and Electric Six has heard the chatter.  “Electric Six just doesn’t have it anymore.”   “Electric Six has really let me down.

Gotye will have an album before Electric Six does.”  As we all know, talk is cheap. Bullshit walks.

Now there  is  a new goddamn Electric Six record ready to go and it’s good, Jack. Real good. Behold! ‘Turquoise’ is here, marking the long-awaited return of Electric Six! Perhaps the band’s catchiest, brightest album, Electric Six reminds you how profoundly fun they can be, hitting you over the head with fourteen pop explosions guaranteed to burrow their way into your dance hole. The pandemic slowed us all down and ripped time into shreds.

It forced E6 to take a little time to look at itself in the mirror. Who did they see staring back?  It saw Electric Six. It saw ‘Turquoise’. Electric Six certainly felt the need to tap into the collective feelings of the time in songs like ‘Panic! Panic!’ and the title track.

The overall vibe of ‘Turquoise’ ranges from the infectious pop of ‘Take Me To The Sugar’ and ‘Staten Island Ass Squad’, to the heavy rock of ‘Child Of Hunger’ and ‘Skywriting’, to the Springsteeny goodness of ‘Units of Time’. Electric Six is a band for all tastes, all times and all sizes.

When a band finally makes an album this exciting, it doesn’t need to do anything else anymore anytime soon ever again. But it will. Electric Six can never die. It’s still the band that does one album a year… if you re-define ‘year’. Which we do. Electric Six will play a UK/RoI tour in November and December to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their chartbusting debut album, ‘Fire’, which was home to the hit singles ‘Danger! High Voltage’, ‘Gay Bar’ and ‘Dance Commander’. The set will see the entire record performed in its entirety, as well as fan favourites and new songs.
