Each night of Taylor Swift’s blockbuster Eras tour, superfan Tess Bohne gets dressed up in her best Swift-themed outfit, paying homage to a beloved song, a red-carpet look or an album’s anniversary. By then, she’s already researched the projected set time, along with the exact minute Swift is expected to play her much-anticipated surprise songs that are unique to each concert.

But as the onstage countdown clock approaches zero, signaling Swift’s entrance, Bohne, 32, isn’t cheering from a stadium. Instead, at home in Salt Lake City, she fires up her husband’s laptop, searches for feeds from fans holding up their phones in the crowd and begins to broadcast a livestream of Swift’s three-hour-plus set on TikTok to her 160,000 (and counting) followers.

Night after night, thousands of Swifties are gathering to watch the superstar perform their favorite songs through their 5-inch phone screens. For some with tickets to future shows, it’s a chance to preview the set list and better prepare for the big day. For others who enjoyed an earlier stop of the tour, it’s a way to relive cherished memories and keep in touch with the community.

And for fans who can’t afford the lofty ticket prices or live too far from a destination city, these unauthorized TikTok livestreams are the only way to get a glimpse of her billion-dollar-grossing, Ticketmaster-crashing tour.

Bohne, the unofficial “Eras tour cruise director,” has become a one-stop shop for fans looking to watch from home.

It’s a love story, L.A. just says yes: How Taylormania took over the world

Cultural dominance. History-making album sales. Sold-out stadiums. Add them up, and Taylor Swift’s current moment has little precedent in pop-music history.

After attending the second show of the tour in Glendale, Ariz., Bohne watched livestreams on TikTok night after night, looking to recapture the magic of seeing Swift in the flesh. Often, the experience paled in comparison to the real thing — choppy feeds would cut in and out or drop entirely, or an overly eager fan’s earnest singing would drown out the notes from the stage. But instead of giving up, Bohne resolved to curate and improve the livestream viewing experience.

She first went live on TikTok when the tour stopped in Atlanta at the end of April. At one point, her control center included multiple iPads, allowing her to track down alternate streams and switch back and forth when videos cut off midset.

“We called it the iPad Shuffle,” Bohne said. “In the beginning it was just a place where people could see where to find these streams. It wasn’t a great concert experience. But then it turned into a seamless watching experience.”

These days, Bohne goes live from her husband’s work computer while using an iPhone and iPad to scour TikTok, as well as sites like swiftstream.gay and various Twitch accounts, for backup streams. As her reach has grown, a number of brands have reached out seeking collaboration opportunities; she’s typically more excited to hear directly from Swift fans expressing their gratitude for her work.

“I had two different people message me and say they had panic attacks during the shows, and sitting down to watch the stream has been healing for them,” Bohne said. “Others had really bad anxiety trying to track down these streams, and I’ve been able to alleviate that for them. It makes me feel like I’m doing something worthwhile.”

An essential part of the ersatz Eras-watching experience is Swiftball, a Taylor-fied fantasy football game started by Twitter user @reckedmaserati , in which fans attempt to predict outfits, surprise songs and other goings-on. Winners have received prizes ranging from Swift CDs to merchandise to handcrafted art, all of which are donated by other Swiftball players.

The most recent Swiftball on July 29 received more than 11,000 submissions on Twitter, and on a typical TikTok stream, you’ll find a jumble of fans erupting with digital cheers or boos each time an answer is revealed.

“TikTok is the pinnacle of this,” said Russ Crupnick, managing partner at marketing research and industry analysis company MusicWatch and a professor at New York University. “It helps to magnify everything that’s going on around a tour. In the old days, if you didn’t have a ticket, you didn’t get to participate. Now you can.”

At the outset of the tour, it was harder to avoid the Swift livestreams on TikTok than it was to find them. In its quest to push the most engaging live videos to its For You page, TikTok’s algorithm boosted bootleg streams of the concert nearly every night, as Swifties locked in for hours and commented away.

Eventually, TikTok removed streamers while they were live and suppressed them from the For You page.

“I feel like it’s become a lot harder to find streams,” Bohne said. “I got suspended once by TikTok, about two weeks ago, for intellectual property. That’s what’s been a little bit frustrating. I can have permission from someone who’s at the show to [use their stream], but if they’re not supposed to be streaming, I don’t know.”

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act, created in 1998, protects platforms from being held liable for content that infringes on copyrighted material, as long as the platform has a mechanism for rights holders to report and take down the offending content. During the internet’s early years, it was easier for copyright holders to locate and remove such items. Now, the proliferation of content has made that game of whack-a-mole virtually impossible.

“There are dozens if not hundreds of these videos popping up,” said Tatiana Cirisano, senior music analyst at Midia Research. “There’s a sentiment that this law was built before social media really existed, and it was meant to allow for creativity, and allow platforms to host things other people had made, without worrying about liability. But this was before there was so much content posted all the time, so now, it doesn’t really work.”

Representatives for Swift and TikTok did not return a request for comment.

Don’t get stuck in traffic. How to take public transit to see Taylor Swift at SoFi Stadium

Not a lover of $100 parking spaces? There are plenty of ways to get to Taylor Swift’s concerts at SoFi Stadium by train or bus.

July 31, 2023

Since the pandemic shuttered live music in 2020, authorized concert livestreams have grown in popularity. Just about every major festival streams the majority of its sets on platforms such as YouTube or Twitch, and according to a report from Midia Research, the amount of people watching shows from home nearly doubled in the past two years, from 9.3% at the end of 2020 to 17.7% at the end of 2022.

Fans who consume the raw, user-generated streams on TikTok typically skew younger than YouTube audiences drawn to professional-quality recordings, but Cirisano believes that livestreams, whether authorized or bootleg, won’t cannibalize ticket sales.

“There’s obviously overlap between [ticket-buying and livestreaming audiences],” Cirisano said. “But there’s nothing that can replace the in-person concert.”

Crupnick argues that labels and music publishers shouldn’t prioritize filing copyright strikes against fans who are providing free promotion for their favorite acts. Instead, he says, the growth of user-generated livestreaming could become another negotiating chip in the copyright owners’ fight to extract more money from the social platform.

“At some point, they could take it all down, but fans will put it back up just as fast,” Crupnick said. “I think what the labels really want is fair compensation from TikTok.”

For Bohne, the TikTok livestreams are another way to feel connected to Swift.

“If I could talk to Taylor, my message to her would just be a giant thank you,” Bohne said. “She’s given us a community where we can find people who understand one another.”

Taylor Swift shares big video hint that the 'Eras Tour' may be changing

Taylor Swift is taking fans behind the scenes of her “Eras Tour” with a series of clips, and Swifties now suspect there’s a hint as to changes coming to the world-renowned show.

Days after releasing her newest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” Swift posted another YouTube Short video with her hit single “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone,” playing over videos of her and her dancers rehearsing for the tour. But there’s one moment in the montage that has fans doing what they do best: speculating.

Fans will recognize many of the scenes being practiced, such as Swift's iconic entrance from the ground, her performance of "Lavender Haze" in a coat surrounded by clouds, playing "Champagne Problems" seated at a moss-covered piano and more. But one clip, in which Swift stands in the middle of a stage with her dancers lined up behind her wearing top hats and holding canes, did not appear in the original "Eras Tour."

Taylor Swift YouTube Short

“Since when do background dancers have a top hat and canes?!” one fan with the username armaisacat.1989 captioned a TikTok of the scene, adding “Taylor Swift you have some explaining to do!!”

The “Eras Tour” is a three-hour, 15-minute concert in which Swift performs songs from all of her albums since her 2006 self-titled debut record. Many — including the TODAY.com staff — have speculated whether or not the pop star would integrate “Tortured Poets Department” as another era in the show.

All will be (hopefully) be revealed when the tour begins again in Paris on May 9.

This is the second YouTube Short Swift has posted since the latest album release. On April 19, she shared glimpses of her personal life , again set to the tune of “Fortnight.”

In that compilation, her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, makes appearances with the star. The videos are in collaboration with YouTube, encouraging users to post their own “14 snippets” of their lives set to the same song.

  • The Eras Tour streaming release date

Taylor Swift’s all-conquering The Eras Tour arrived in theaters as a concert movie appropriately titled Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. Filmed over three nights during Swift’s six-show sold-out run at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, it’s been dominating theaters since its release on October 12, 2023.

But what if you want to enjoy The Eras Tour movie from the comfort of your own home? After all, you’d be able to avoid the screaming crowds and enjoy the three-hour-long show from your own couch. Plus, you’ll have the ability to rewind and rewatch your favorite songs at will.

Well, then you need to know where and when Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will land on streaming services and video-on-demand. The good news is The Eras Tour has already arrived on paid video-on-demand services. And we'd be shocked if it didn't make it onto at least one of the best streaming services eventually.

So here’s everything you need to know about where and when you might be able to stream Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour online.

Where to stream Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour

Where will taylor swift: the eras tour be available for streaming.

So we don't yet know where Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will stream for free . But, if you're okay with paying to watch T-Swift from the comfort of your own home, we have good news. The Eras Tour is currently available on paid video-on-demand streaming services .

There's even more good news for diehard Swifties. This video-on-demand version is an extended cut that adds Wildest Dreams, The Archer and Long Live. This extended cut is available to rent in "US, Canada & additional countries" and will be available on Apple TV , Vudu , Prime Video , Xfinity, Google Play and YouTube .

Hi! Well, so, basically I have a birthday coming up and I was thinking a fun way to celebrate the year we’ve had together would be to make The Eras Tour Concert Film available for you to watch at home! Very happy to be able to tell you that the extended version of the film… pic.twitter.com/JTpl0tz1uG November 27, 2023

As for which streaming service Swift will use for the free version of her concert film, that's still totally up in the air for now. Swift has a track record of working with different streaming services over her career. The 1989 World Tour movie was released exclusively on Apple Music ( Apple TV Plus hadn’t launched yet), although it’s no longer available to stream on the platform.

Unfortunately for our guesswork, Swift changed things up for the Reputation Tour movie, which launched on Netflix in 2018. Her peak behind-the-curtain documentary, Miss Americana, also hit Netflix in early 2020.

But further complicating things, Swift also made a documentary for Disney Plus — Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions. This saw her play through the entirety of her Grammy award-winning album in an imitation setting while offering insight into its creation.

Our best guess? The Queen of Pop has no allegiance to anyone but herself and is going to simply pick the streaming service that offers the best terms. But personally, I think The Eras Tour will eventually stream on Disney Plus .

The Eras Tour movie was produced by Swift's in-house production company Taylor Swift Productions and that company wasn't involved in Miss Americana. It was, however, involved in Taylor Swift: City of Lover and Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, which were the last two projects Swift put on a streaming service. Both those movies ended up on Disney Plus, where I think The Eras Tour will eventually join them.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour streaming release date

When is taylor swift: the eras tour streaming release date.

Again, we know that you can already buy or rent Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Extended Version). But that will cost you — though less than what it currently costs to see The Eras Tour in theaters and certainly less than a ticket for a Taylor Swift live concert.

But we don't know when it will come to streaming services for free. And unfortunately, there really isn't any precedent for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. This isn't like The Holdovers or The Marvels , where there is historical data that can be used to reach a logical conclusion. Swift's only prior theatrical release was All to Well: The Short Film and that was only a limited release — not one of the biggest movies in the world.

However, there is a strong possibility that Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour likely won't be available to watch from a streaming service until early 2024 . With video on demand not starting until December 13, I'd be shocked if it came out any earlier than January 13, a month later.

My best guess? I think that Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will probably be released to coincide with her first 2024 tour dates in Japan. That means a potential streaming service release date of Wednesday, February 7, which is Taylor Swift's first date in Tokyo.

When Swift originally released the concert movie, she decided to bypass traditional Hollywood studios and partnered with AMC Theatres. In her cover story for   Time ’s 2023 Person of the Year , she explained her reasoning why.

“We met with all the studios,” she told the publication, “and we met with all the streamers, and we sized up how it was perceived and valued, and if they had high hopes and dreams for it. Ultimately I did what I tend to do more and more often these days, which is to bet on myself.”

The Complete Guide to Taylor Swift's New 'Tortured Poets' Double Album, by Fans for Fans

We now know Taylor Swift can "do it with a broken heart." Here's everything else you need to know about her new double album.

eras tour youtube livestream

Taylor Swift's Tortured Poets era is here. Swift's newest album The Tortured Poets Department dropped on April 19 -- and then 2 hours later, she dropped another one, The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology. The double album shocker gave fans 31 new songs, including the four bonus tracks that were previously exclusive to the CD variant editions. To wrap up release day, Swift also dropped the music video for the album's lead single, Fortnight featuring Post Malone.

Swift described  Tortured Poets on her Instagram as a reflection of "a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time -- one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure." Within its first day of release, Tortured Poets was already breaking records: It was the most streamed album in a single day in 2024,  Billboard reports .

Read more : Apple Music vs. Spotify: How to Decide

Swift announced The Tortured Poets Department in February, after winning her 14th Grammy award. Since then, she's unveiled four variants of The Tortured Poets Department, during the most recent leg of The Eras Tour . Additionally, a mysterious  YouTube Short  was posted to Taylor's account, encouraging fans to join the "For a Fortnight Challenge."

Here's everything you need to know about listening to The Tortured Poets Department. We'll keep updating this story with any of the last-minute announcements and surprises Swift undoubtedly has in store. For more, here's how to stream The Eras Tour concert film and here's our list of the  best music streaming services of 2024 .

How to stream Taylor Swift's new album, The Tortured Poets Department

You can stream The Tortured Poets Department on your streaming service of choice. Both Spotify and Apple Music subscribers are currently able to stream The Tortured Poets Department, as well as users of YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Pandora and Tidal.

That includes The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, which contains all 31 new songs. You can see all the options at Swift's link tree here .

Tracks and collaborators on The Tortured Poets Department

The Tortured Poets Department has 16 brand-new songs and four variant-specific bonus tracks. Post Malone and Florence & The Machine both appear on the album, and Swift teamed up with long-time friend Jack Antonoff and recent collaborator Aaron Dessner on her latest record.

This record has several solo writing credits for Swift. My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys and Who's Afraid of Little Old Me were both penned solely by the superstar. With the release of TTPD: The Anthology, Swift adds The Black Dog, imgonnagetyouback, Peter and The Manuscript to her solo songwriting credits.

The standard tracklist for the album is as follows:

1 . Fortnight (featuring Post Malone) 2 . The Tortured Poets Department 3 . My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys 4 . Down Bad 5 . So Long, London 6 . But Daddy I Love Him 7 . Fresh Out the Slammer 8 . Florida!!! (featuring Florence & The Machine) 9 . Guilty as Sin? 10 . Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? 11 . I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) 12 . loml 13 . I Can Do It with a Broken Heart 14 . The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived 15 . The Alchemy 16 . Clara Bow 17 . The Black Dog 18 . imgonnagetyouback 19 . The Albatross 20 . Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus 21 . How Did It End? 22 . So High School 23 . I Hate It Here 24 . thanK you aIMee 25 . I Look in People's Windows 26 . The Prophecy 27 . Cassandra 28 . Peter 29 . The Bolter 30 . Robin 31 . The Manuscript

The first 16 songs were expected as part of the release of The Tortured Poets, but at 2 a.m. on April 19, Swift surprised fans with a double album release. Songs 17 through 31 make up the second half of The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology.

How to find The Tortured Poets Department on CD and vinyl

There are four confirmed variant editions of TTPD, named after the bonus track each will include: The Bolter , The Albatross , The Black Dog and The Manuscript . While the variants are available for sale on Swift's website, fans can also find them at Target. These do not include the extra 15 songs included in TTPD: The Anthology.

The majority of the variant editions are available as CDs, including The Bolter, The Albatross and The Black Dog. The fourth variant edition, named after the bonus song The Manuscript , is available as a CD and on vinyl in phantom clear or ghost white colors only at Target. Swift also held preorders for vinyl bundles of the other variant editions (The Bolter, The Albatross and The Black Dog) that included a deluxe CD and cassette, but those were only available until April 12.

In every social media post that Taylor Swift has made, she includes the same preorder link , which includes other retailers besides her website and Target, like Barnes & Noble. At Target, you can buy each CD individually for $14, and The Manuscript vinyl is $46. There is not currently a place where you can find all four of the bonus songs on the same CD, which is why completists and collectors ought to be prepared to drop some cash .

How do I stream bonus songs and The Tortured Poets Anthology?

Good news: As part of the 2 a.m. double album release, the four confirmed bonus songs are included in TTPD: The Anthology. So now you don't need to buy each of the four variant editions on CD and vinyl to listen to The Bolter, The Albatross, The Black Dog and The Manuscript. TTPD: The Anthology is available wherever you stream music.

The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology has yet to see a physical release, though there is a digital download available for $15 on Swift's website. So fans and collectors will still need to buy the variant physical copies of the album if you want to hear the four bonus tracks. We'll update this story if Swift releases a physical version of TTPD: The Anthology. You may hear clips of the album on TikTok as Swift recently agreed to allow some of her songs back on the app.

This isn't how Swift has previously handled bonus song releases. With her last original album Midnights in 2022, she dropped songs in stages: the original album, a 3 a.m. release with seven more songs, then haphazardly released singles on CD and vinyl. There are three versions of the album on streaming, but there still isn't one central album -- on streaming, CD or vinyl -- where you can listen to all of the songs from the Midnights era. So it's safe to say that Swift took the shorter route this tiime.

What to know about the alleged leak of The Tortured Poets Department

On April 18, just a day before the album was due to drop, the BBC reported that there had allegedly been a leak of Swift's latest album. The leak has not been confirmed or denied by Swift's camp, but fans online have encouraged one another not to listen to the new album until the official release by Swift. In addition, X (formerly Twitter) has banned  searches for "Taylor Swift leak" much like the platform did when AI-generated explicit images of Swift circulated earlier this year.

While some fans online claimed to have listened to the leak, we recommend that you stream the album on Spotify or Apple. Not Clicking on links advertising a leaked copy of the album might not be  safe . Bad actors are likely to capitalize on fans' excitement for the album, and those links could potentially be dangerous viruses or explicit content.

Taylor Swift releases YouTube short that appears to have new Eras Tour dances

eras tour youtube livestream

Taylor Swift  released a new YouTube Shorts video and fans believe clips are signifying a "The Tortured Poets Department" number or set during the Eras Tour.

After the double album was released Friday, fans wondered if the singer would fit any of the 31 songs into the three-plus hour set. In the quick 15-second video, fans pointed out a couple of suspect shots, including Swift leaning against a railing that seems to have the "TTPD" logo and a quick scene where her backup dancers hold poles and wear top hats.

Swift has been on a two-month break from the Eras Tour and has spent much of her time in Los Angeles.

If there is a new Eras Tour set, the next question is where would she add the era? "Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince's" opening line is a perfect opening for an artist who has released seven albums and hasn't seen fans: "It's been a long time coming."

She could end the show with the "TTPD" set, but "Karma" is also a good show closer. Other than those two options, she could place "TTPD" after "Reputation" and before "Speak Now" or also right before "Midnights."

"A fortnight til Paris 🤍," Swift says in the caption. Her next tour stop is Paris, France on May 9. Swift will tour in Europe for 51 shows until she takes a break and heads back to the United States and Canada.

All the proof Taylor Swift is making first major change to Eras Tour

Welcome to "The Tortured Poets Department" (Eras Tour Version).

eras tour youtube livestream

It looks like Taylor Swift 's Eras Tour is getting a brand new era, straight from the Tortured Poets Department .

Since the announcement of her new 11th studio album ( which dropped April 19 ), fans have been anxiously waiting to see if her worldwide, career-spanning tour would get a shakeup to accommodate the new music. While Swift is remaining mum, and a rep for the singer didn't respond to an EW request for comment, a new YouTube Short posted to Swift's account seems to provide all the clarity Swifties needed that a change is imminent.

In the video, which is part of Swift's #ForAFortnightChallenge tied to the album's first single, "Fortnight," the 14-time Grammy winner can be seen rehearsing for tour with her backup dancers. While some shots are obviously from the Folklore , Lover , and other existing "eras" of the show, several blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments have never been seen before.

In one, Swift, clad in workout gear, appears to be wearing the same boots seen in her "Fortnight" video . She's holding on to a banister that looks like it has the Tortured Poets Department emblem on it — the "P" and the "D" can just be made out.

taylor swift/youtube

Although the video is in grayscale, and therefore exact colors are impossible to identify for sure, several shots feature what looks like a new white-ish mic, which has never been seen before. The new era's color, of course, is also an off-white hue.

Perhaps the most interesting moment of the new clip, though, is one that features what looks like new choreography and costumes. Swift's backup dancers can be seen in top hats and dancing with canes, while she sings in the front middle of the group — choreography and props which have so far not been featured in the concert.

This is all speculative until the tour resumes in Paris, France, on May 9, of course, but if Swift is adding a whole new era, it would mark the first major change to the setlist since Swift began performing it last March.

Throughout the tour, she's made little swaps here or there: She added performances with some of the artists who opened for her like HAIM or Phoebe Bridgers, and she added "Long Live" to the Speak Now section when that re-recorded album released during tour. She also swapped out "Invisible String" for the "The 1" in the Folklore section after news of her split with Joe Alwyn broke.

But, nothing has majorly been added or subtracted from the show, which is already a whopping three-and-a-half hours long. Now, if anyone could pull off adding more runtime to Eras, it's the "Mastermind" herself, but it's more likely that some songs will be getting cut to make room for new material. Fans have theorized that the tracks that didn't make it into the VOD rental of the Eras Tour concert film — "The Archer," "Wildest Dreams," "Cardigan," and "Long Live" — could be first on the chopping block, but we'll just have to wait and see what Ms. Swift has up her cryptic and Machiavellian sleeve.

A Viral Taylor Swift Theory Predicts Major Eras Tour Changes

“I’m crying and screaming!”

Taylor Swift performs at the Eras Tour.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour might be ushering in a new era. Following the release of The Tortured Poets Department on April 19, Swifties have speculated whether the singer’s latest album will be featured on the Eras Tour setlist . Swift is yet to confirm or deny the rumors, but new behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage has fans convinced TTPD will be performed on tour.

In a new YouTube Short posted on Swift’s official account, eagle-eyed fans spotted a few clues that validate this latest theory, including what appears to be never-before-seen choreography performed by the singer.

In another clip, Swift seems to be wearing the same boots featured in her “Fortnight” music video and grasps what appears to be a white microphone that aligns with the new album’s color scheme. Elsewhere in the video, the Grammy winner holds on to a handrail that looks like it has The Tortured Poets Department logo on it (according to some fans, the letters “P” and “D” can be seen, if you squint hard enough).

More compelling evidence of a TTPD tour segment can be seen in the backup dancer’s new outfits, which include top hats and canes, as well as some new props that have not been used in Swift’s Eras Tour so far.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour might include a 'The Tortured Poets Department' segment.

Shortly after the YouTube Short dropped, Swifties quickly pointed out all hints of a TTPD Eras Tour set. “The sign she’s leaning against? The fact the dancers are in top hats? All of this is new!” one fan commented. “Is this a new Tortured Poets Department era in the Eras Tour? I’m crying and screaming!” another wrote.

Swift resumes her global Eras Tour on May 9, when she kicks off the European leg in Paris, France. If the theory proves correct, the addition of any Tortured Poets Department tracks would mark the first significant setlist change since the tour began in March 2023.

As for which songs would make way for a TTPD tour segment, some fans have theorized the tracks that weren’t featured in the Eras Tour concert movie , including “Cardigan,” “The Archer,” and “No Body, No Crime,” might be the first to be cut.

Is Taylor Swift Adding Tortured Poets Songs to the Eras Tour Set List in 2024?

W ith the new album The Tortured Poets Department now out, Taylor Swift fans are wondering if the pop star will be adding a few of its songs to the Eras Tour setlist for the rest of the 2024 concerts. Here's everything you need to know.

Are Taylor Swift's Tortured Poets songs being added to The Eras Tour?

Based on a YouTube short with a few clips of Swift's rehearsals, fans have picked up clues suggesting that she will be adding new songs from The Tortured Poets Department to her 2024 Eras Tour setlist.

On May 9, Taylor Swift will take the stage once again to begin the European leg of her Eras Tour. Her usual concerts last just over three hours with her performing around 45 songs on average. But with The Tortured Poets Department, she has 31 more songs to choose from.

Swift recently added the above video showing moments from her rehearsals. But breaking down the video, fans believe that she teased the addition of a few tracks from The Tortured Poets Department into her upcoming concerts.

TikTok user ‘ Nikkiking23 ' posted the following video presenting a few pieces of evidence suggesting the addition of The Tortured Poets Department songs to Taylor Swift's Paris concert and beyond:

While this isn't confirmed yet, Swift could surprise fans across her European, American, and Canadian tours.

However, since the concerts are already big shows, she could choose to condense a few old songs or even remove them to incorporate the new songs. If this happens, it would be interesting to see how fans react to a change to her setlist.

Will Taylor Swift sing ‘Fortnight' during The Eras Tour 2024 shows?

Fans believe that Taylor Swift hinted at singing Fortnight from The Tortured Poets Department album during The Eras Tour 2024 shows.

Swift hasn’t confirmed whether she will sing The Tortured Poets Department songs during her upcoming shows. However, it's likely for "Fortnight" to be one of the songs she picks, if she chooses to sing new ones.

Fortnight is the lead song of The Tortured Poets Department. Considering that the European tour starts in a fortnight and Swift's above video heavily teases the song “Fortnight,” it's likely that Swift will at least perform this new song in Paris on May 9, and perhaps beyond.

Is Taylor Swift Adding Tortured Poets Songs to the Eras Tour Set List in 2024?

What Taylor Swift's new album means for her $1 billion fortune

  • Taylor Swift's new album, " The Tortured Poets Department ," is almost guaranteed to be a bestseller.
  • But no matter how well it does, it won't be the way Swift earns most of her money this year.
  • The remaining leg of her Eras Tour is expected to add much more to Swift's billion-dollar fortune.

Insider Today

Taylor Swift released her new album, " The Tortured Poets Department ," at midnight, and, in what should be no surprise to anyone on this planet in the year 2024, it caused a scene.

Her album garnered millions of streams within hours. There's almost no doubt it'll top the Billboard chart like the 13 Swift albums before it.

But no matter how many platinum certifications it collects or streams it racks up on Spotify, "The Tortured Poets Department" won't be Swift's biggest money-maker this year.

The remaining leg of her Eras Tour — kicking off in Paris next month and running through December — is instead expected to be what contributes most to her fortune, which Bloomberg estimated to be $1.1 billion last year.

"Live music is the engine of the global music business," Clayton Durant, an adjunct professor at NYU Steinhardt's Music Business Program who's the founder of CAD Management, told Business Insider. "Her tour is probably going to earn 10 to 15 times more than her streaming."

Swift's Eras Tour brought in more than $1 billion in ticket sales last year over its 66 dates. By the end of this year, she's set to have played another 86. Swift's cut is unknown, but based on industry standards, she'll surely earn nine figures in 2024 from ticket sales.

Concerts don't only bring in money from ticket sales.

Pollstar estimates that Swifties spend an average of $40 a head on merch at her concerts — that adds up to about $175 million in gross merch sales last year. Swift's camp keeps the majority of that.

Bloomberg estimated that between box office and merchandise, Swift pocketed $225 million, pre-tax, from her first 57 Eras Tour dates. Career earnings from ticket sales and merchandise account for 34% of her total net worth, while earnings from music streaming and sales account for 18%, Bloomberg estimates.

Swift isn't alone in making money on the road.

In 2021, the last year Billboard made a list of music's top earners, seven out of the 10 top money makers earned more than half of their income from touring.

But the music industry didn't always function this way. Before the advent of streaming, musicians made most of their fortune selling CDs, cassette tapes, and vinyl records .

"Physical music sales made up the bulk of artists' revenue pre-streaming, and that revenue was what enabled artists to tour. These days, the equation has flipped," Tatiana Cirisano, a senior music-industry analyst at MIDiA, told BI over email.

Streaming made listening to recorded music much cheaper. For less than the price of one CD — or for free, illegally or with ads — people could get all the songs they wanted.

"The moment Napster hit, it changed the paradigm, and it really honestly diluted the value of music," Durant said.

To be sure, Swift is still making tens of millions, if not more, on streaming and record sales each year — more than almost any other artist on the planet.

Streaming services such as Spotify pay out artists on a pro-rata model: There's a pot, made up of subscription and ad revenue, paid out to artists each year. Those with the biggest share of the platform's total streams get the biggest piece of it.

But "if you're an individual artist, you have to have a pretty massive audience to be able to earn a meaningful share of that revenue — which is paid out to you after your label gets its cut," Cirisano said.

Last year, Swift was the most streamed artist on both Apple and Spotify. One of every 78 songs streamed in the US last year was a Swift song, according to the music-data firm Luminate. She'll probably rank at or near the top again, between " The Tortured Poets Department " and a streaming lift from the second leg of her Eras Tour.

Swift is also set to earn more than most artists from physical music sales. Last year, she was responsible for one out of every 15 vinyl records sold, according to Luminate. Cirisano said Swift's rabid followers saw physical records as "a symbol of fandom" and a way to support Swift.

That said, without Eras, Swift would just be a poor centimillionaire.
