Mahabaleshwar Temple

An absolute must visit when you visit this small town, this temple is home to the second Atma Linga in India, a shiva linga that has as much history as it is revered. It was mentioned in the great Indian epics-- the Ramayana and the Mahabharata! True to its high level of holiness, it is considered to be just as sacred as the North Indian city of Kashi, and is famously known as “Dakshin Kashi”, or the Kashi of the South. The main statue of Lord Shiva which is the centrepiece of the entire temple is said to be as old as 1500 years. The temple faces the west, which is a very auspicious direction as the sun shines directly onto the temple first. The custom is to first bathe in the waters of the beach, pay obeisance to the Ganesh temple after which they can proceed to the main temple of Mahabaleshwar.

First, we will visit Mirjan fort, which was built on the banks of the Aghanashini river which is a tributary of the Sharavati river. The fort is famous for its elegant architectural style. After this, we will proceed on to Koti Tirtha, which is an immensely sacred spot for any Hindu, due to the rich legends and myths behind the artificial water tank. After paying our respects and seeking blessings from the Lord, we will then visit the beautiful Gokarna beach which is located right behind the Mahabaleshwar Temple. You can participate in fun activities like surfing and boating, and even watch the beautiful sunset. Finally, we will retire to the hotel for overnight stay.

After this temple, we will visit the half moon beach, which is gorgeous, and more importantly, less crowded and smaller! We will then visit the Kudle beach which is one of the more popular beaches in the town. At the end of this eventful day, we will retire back to the hotel.

Have breakfast in the hotel and then proceed on to the neighbouring town of Murudeshwara, which is considered to be very sacred and rich in history. After that, the actual trip begins. Starting from Anegundi village , we will explore a lot of places like Malyavanta Raghunatha Temple , Chintamani , Durga Mata temple , and the Sanapur lake , where you can experience Cliff jumping and also relax near the scenic beauty. We will also experience the thrilling Coracle ride.
Then, we will enjoy a beautiful sunset from Anjaneya Hill.
Lastly, we will go back to the campsite to enjoy the surrounding scenic view and the calm weather. After having Dinner Indulge yourself in stargazing and enjoy the bonfire amidst the beautiful nature, and fall in love with this place.

Day 1 - Departure to Dandeli

There will be a comfy ride in a Volvo bus and Tempo Traveler which will take participants to Dandeli making it a stress-free start.

Day 2 - Arriving in Dandeli, Watersports extravaganza and overnight stay

The train from Hyderabad and sleeper bus participants from both Pune and Mumbai will reach Hubli. Arrangements will also be made for linking Dandeli to transport.
The tempo travelers from participants and Bangalore will come directly to Dandeli and join back in the group.
Breakfast on arrival in Dandeli early morning.
Then you go to exhilarating ‘Watersports’ and they adjust the time for lunch according to the attendance at the point ‘Watersports’.
In the evening return to the resort for a rain dance/activities finishing off with a lavish dinner.

Day 3 - Traveling from Yana Caves passing Om Beach and reaching Kudle Beach then overnight at Gokarna

After having your breakfast, go to Yana Caves in the morning.
Visit the Yana Caves then proceed to Gokarna City where you will be required to check into a hotel later in the afternoon.
In the evening, one can also visit the magnificent Mahabaleshwar temple and sample different local cafes for a relaxing experience of the serene atmospheres at Om and Kudle beaches. Visit a night market and enjoy the nighttime atmosphere.

Day 4 - Honnavar and Murudeshwar | Departure

Dandeli Trip With Honnavar & Murudeshwar

Dandeli is an ideal weekend getaway in north Karnataka for those who love nature & water activities. The town is surrounded by thick forests and rich vegetation where rare animals and birds roam in deep valleys and hilly terrain. On the banks of the Kali river , Dandeli is truly a fascinating mix of wildlife, scenic beauty, and adventure sports.

Different water adventure sports in Dandeli include Kayaking, Boating, Zorbing, Ziplining (across river Kali), Swimming with life jackets, etc. Each activity costs between 150 to 350 INR. The most loved White Water Rafting (Short river rafting) costs approx. 600 rupees.

Life jackets are mandatory for all the activities. One need not know swimming to enjoy all these water sports.

**Important notes on rafting:

The status of White Water Rafting – whether it will happen or not – will only be announced by Forest/Dam authorities on that morning.
No travel company can promise it beforehand 100%.

After a day of water adventure activities & a happening night camping at Dandeli, we will visit two unique places on the west coast the next day – Murudeshwar and Honnavar.

Murudeshwar is a temple town with a spellbinding view of gigantic Shiva statue in the backdrop of Arabian sea. The huge statue is surrounded by Sea on three sides. The Beach is just a small walk from the temple. It’s a surreal feeling to experience Murudeshwar sitting pretty on the west coast.

Honnavar is a hidden gem that is famous for it’s beautiful backwaters. A boat ride on the Sharavati River originating from western ghats is a refreshing experience. A thrilling view of setting sun at the same time is a cherry on the top to end Dandeli trip on a high.

Day 0 - Journey to Dandeli!

Start from Bangalore, an overnight journey to Dandeli.

Day 1 - Dandeli Water Adventure Sports, Camping, Bonfire

Reach the adventure town of Dandeli, check in to our beautiful campsite, with all basic facilities like tents, washrooms, dining area, campfire/music zone.
Note: Sometimes because of travelers of previous day, our check-in time may be delayed as rooms/tents are not yet prepared for us. In the meantime, we will freshen up. Around 9-10 AM we will be given stay.
Freshen up and fuel up with a really heavy Breakfast (Lunch will be very late after water activities)
Head to the adventure-land on the banks of river Kali, indulge in day long water activities (self sponsored). The cost for individual activities is mentioned in “Overview” section of this trip.
Have late Lunch at a local food joint.
(Time permits) We will explore one optional place near Dandeli jungle and spend some quality time in a serene environment.
Reach back to the camp late evening, freshen up.
Bonfire at night with long conversations. Your trip leader will make you play interesting games. You may also chill out and have your me-time.
Music, sing, and dance under the open sky.
Well deserved hot Dinner, both veg and non-veg.
Rest in your assigned tents or dorm beds.

Day 2 - Murudeshwar, Honnavar Backwaters, Return journey

Wake up to the chirping birds, cold breeze and misty setting of serene surroundings.
Take those selfies and groupfies at our lovely campsite in the fresh morning light (there are many photogenic places in and around campsite).
Freshen up & check out of the camp. Start journey towards west coast.
Have Breakfast at a hotel en route.
Go on a picturesque 4 hour journey to the temple town Murudeshwar sitting pretty overlooking Arabian sea. Visit giant Shiva statue, the temple and break for Lunch at a local restaurant.
Visit Honnavar Backwaters and go on a Boat ride on Sharavati river (self sponsored). A beautiful sunset is surely an icing on the cake.
Start back to Bangalore by late evening, over night journey.
Dinner on the way at a Dhaba.

Day 3 - Back home!

Reach home in the morning.

This trip involves basic facilities in terms of food, travel, and stay without any luxury, whatsoever.
This is a group trip with shared model. It may not suit everyone – especially for those expecting privacy and comfort. It best suits for people who wish to socialize .

Note: This trip involves overnight journey on a push back Seater (Not sleeper or semi-sleeper).

The stay has well-maintained toilets/shower rooms.
Campfire will be lit up close to tents.
Our stay is a well maintained private property close to the forest. It is a peaceful, spacious place with a good vibe and all the basic facilities. The tents are big enough to have space for your luggage also. The stay is beautifully lit up in the night.
There are a separate dining area and campfire, music zone. It’s a good place to click selfies during day time. Don’t forget to wake up early on Sunday morning to witness serene sunrise with birds chirping around.
Breakfast , 1 Dinner (Veg & Non veg) are included at the stay.

Proper water bottle for your trip. You may fill at our campsite

Any kind of sandals or shoes are fine as there is no trek
Your personal medications, if any
Pair of water wear to take a dip in the river/sea
Carrying a handwash/sanitizer/tissues will help during the trip
Carry your jerkin/sweater – it can get cold at night as its close to the forest
Carry a lil bit of cash for Sunday lunch, dinner, and misc. expenses
Don’t carry expensive items. You are responsible for your own belongings.

What's next after booking your trip?

A Whatsapp group shall be created on the trip day and Vehicle & Trip Leader details will be shared.
It is mandatory to share your personal information with the team along with a copy of your government approved ID card.
You will need to share your co-traveler(s) details if you have booked more than one seat.
Live location of the vehicle will be sent in the group once it starts at the first point.

Terms & Conditions

The itinerary is fixed. No special requests to change itinerary/schedule shall be entertained. Do not give advice(s) to the Trip Leader(s) to change the itinerary.
Cooperate with the organizer(s) in following the schedule set for the day (especially getting up and getting ready in the morning). This will ensure travelers won’t miss out on the real fun part that is traveling.
Every traveler is responsible for his/her for your own safety. Don’t indulge in any illegal or silly activity that causes harm to you or fellow travelers.
Do not wander into the forest away from the designated trail for treks. There may be snakes, scorpions, and dangerous animals.
Unexpected situations: It may happen we do not cover all the places mentioned in the itinerary because of unpredictable reasons like bad weather, landslides, wild animal presence, abrupt blocking of sites by the police/forest department, delay in travel because of an issue with our group itself, traffic conditions, etc. In most cases, if the time permits, the organizer(s) will take travelers to an alternative place. But in some cases, we may have to skip a place altogether.
Absolutely no littering. We swear to protect our environment.
No alcohol & smoking during travel, treks, and other outdoor activities. There would be a separate window and space (usually at night) to have these at the campsite/homestay for interested people.
Travelers are expected to respect each other and help each other. Avoid discussing sensitive matters like sex, politics, and religion/caste/race.
Using foul or abusive language, eve-teasing, arguing with fellow travelers/organizer(s), and/or involving in the physical assault will not be accepted and will stand a chance of being deserted by the group then and there.
The event will stand canceled if less than 8 travelers signed up for the trip/trek which will be informed 24 hours before the trip start time.
Every traveler is expected to sign a liability/waiver form given by the organizer(s) after boarding the vehicle. This liability form will discharge Muddie Trails of any unexpected incident like injury/death/theft etc.

Cancellation & Refund

Cancellation by traveler.

80% refund/100% postponement if you inform about your cancellation before 48 hours of the event start time. An email has to be sent to [email protected] to raise a cancellation request.
No refund/postponing is allowed within 48 hours of the event start time whatever is the reason (Health, Accident, Covid, Family crisis, Office issue, or anything else).
No refund/postponing is allowed for partial payment – booking fee – which is done to book your slot.
No refund during/after the event.

Cancellation by Muddie Trails

Muddie Trails may decide to cancel the event if there are less than 8 travelers signed up for the trip/trek.

What if we don’t get the minimum number of people for the trip? We have 2 options in this case: Option 1: Complete refund. Option 2: Switch to any other trip of the same weekend or future weekends. The difference amount will be collected from you or paid back according to the new trip cost.

Cancellation due to external factors

Muddie Trails may have to cancel the event in case of external factors that are beyond our control like Natural Disasters, Extreme Weather Conditions, Red Alerts, Political Disturbances, Bandh/Curfews, Local Issues, Road Blocks, Train cancellations, Covid-19 or any other disease outbreaks etc.

In these scenarios:

No Refund is allowed.
100% trip amount can be used for any other new trip of the same weekend or future weekends. The difference amount will be collected from you or paid back according to the new trip cost.
Once you confirm your participation on the new trip, all the above Cancellation policies will apply for the same.
