Compliance status

We firmly believe that the internet should be available and accessible to anyone, and are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstance and ability.

To fulfill this, we aim to adhere as strictly as possible to the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at the AA level. These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities. Complying with those guidelines helps us ensure that the website is accessible to all people: blind people, people with motor impairments, visual impairment, cognitive disabilities, and more.

This website utilizes various technologies that are meant to make it as accessible as possible at all times. We utilize an accessibility interface that allows persons with specific disabilities to adjust the website’s UI (user interface) and design it to their personal needs.

Additionally, the website utilizes an AI-based application that runs in the background and optimizes its accessibility level constantly. This application remediates the website’s HTML, adapts Its functionality and behavior for screen-readers used by the blind users, and for keyboard functions used by individuals with motor impairments.

If you’ve found a malfunction or have ideas for improvement, we’ll be happy to hear from you. You can reach out to the website’s operators by using the following email

Screen-reader and keyboard navigation

Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they immediately receive a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can browse and operate your site effectively. Here’s how our website covers some of the most important screen-reader requirements, alongside console screenshots of code examples:

Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all of the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website.

These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.

Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside of it.

Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Disability profiles supported in our website

  • Epilepsy Safe Mode: this profile enables people with epilepsy to use the website safely by eliminating the risk of seizures that result from flashing or blinking animations and risky color combinations.
  • Visually Impaired Mode: this mode adjusts the website for the convenience of users with visual impairments such as Degrading Eyesight, Tunnel Vision, Cataract, Glaucoma, and others.
  • Cognitive Disability Mode: this mode provides different assistive options to help users with cognitive impairments such as Dyslexia, Autism, CVA, and others, to focus on the essential elements of the website more easily.
  • ADHD Friendly Mode: this mode helps users with ADHD and Neurodevelopmental disorders to read, browse, and focus on the main website elements more easily while significantly reducing distractions.
  • Blindness Mode: this mode configures the website to be compatible with screen-readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. A screen-reader is software for blind users that is installed on a computer and smartphone, and websites must be compatible with it.
  • Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor-Impaired): this profile enables motor-impaired persons to operate the website using the keyboard Tab, Shift+Tab, and the Enter keys. Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Additional UI, design, and readability adjustments

  • Font adjustments – users, can increase and decrease its size, change its family (type), adjust the spacing, alignment, line height, and more.
  • Color adjustments – users can select various color contrast profiles such as light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. Additionally, users can swap color schemes of titles, texts, and backgrounds, with over 7 different coloring options.
  • Animations – epileptic users can stop all running animations with the click of a button. Animations controlled by the interface include videos, GIFs, and CSS flashing transitions.
  • Content highlighting – users can choose to emphasize important elements such as links and titles. They can also choose to highlight focused or hovered elements only.
  • Audio muting – users with hearing devices may experience headaches or other issues due to automatic audio playing. This option lets users mute the entire website instantly.
  • Cognitive disorders – we utilize a search engine that is linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of phrases, initials, slang, and others.
  • Additional functions – we provide users the option to change cursor color and size, use a printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other functions.

Browser and assistive technology compatibility

We aim to support the widest array of browsers and assistive technologies as possible, so our users can choose the best fitting tools for them, with as few limitations as possible. Therefore, we have worked very hard to be able to support all major systems that comprise over 95% of the user market share including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge, JAWS and NVDA (screen readers), both for Windows and for MAC users.

Notes, comments, and feedback

Despite our very best efforts to allow anybody to adjust the website to their needs, there may still be pages or sections that are not fully accessible, are in the process of becoming accessible, or are lacking an adequate technological solution to make them accessible. Still, we are continually improving our accessibility, adding, updating and improving its options and features, and developing and adopting new technologies. All this is meant to reach the optimal level of accessibility, following technological advancements. For any assistance, please reach out to

The kids want a beach day, the parents want to explore WWII history.

Why not both?

Normandy may be on France's northern coast, but the D-Day beaches are easily accessible by rail from Paris and even London. Make an introduction to the Paris St-Lazare train station and it’ll rush you off to the Normandy train stations near the D-Day beaches in about three hours.

Here’s what you need to know about visiting Normandy’s D-Day beaches by train.

How to visit Normandy’s D-Day beaches by train

How do i get to normandy without a car .

Although many travelers rent a car in Paris to explore Normandy, France’s extensive train network gives you the flexibility to explore the region with the comfort and convenience of a relaxed ride and zero worries about parking. Take the train from Paris and depart at coastal cities like Bayeux train station or Caen train station then head down to the D-Day beaches.

Is there a high-speed train from Paris to Normandy?

There are multiple direct trains leaving from Paris and arriving in cities like Bayeux and Caen. These journeys take as little as 2h 20m. There are also train routes that include changes, but your journey will still likely last between two to three hours.

How do I get from Paris to Omaha Beach?

You can get from Paris to Omaha Beach easily by train. First, you’ll have to go to Paris’ Gare St-Lazare, which is in the 8th Arrondissement. The metro lines M3, M12, M13, and M14 all connect at this station. Take the train to Gare de Bayeux on either a direct route or one with connections. Once you arrive in Bayeux, you’ll need to take a cab, bus, rideshare, or rental bike up to Omaha Beach.

How do I get to Normandy from the UK by train?

Getting to Normandy from the UK by train is easy thanks to the Eurostar direct route that connects London to Paris . These trains are much faster than spending more time getting to and from the airports for a short-haul flight that’s hardly as long. Once in Paris, you can connect to cities throughout Normandy with ease.

How do I get from London to the D-Day beaches?

Don’t let the English Channel stand in your way from getting to Normandy. You can catch a train from London that passes beneath the water (known as the Chunnel) and arrives in Paris. First, you’ll need to catch a train from London St Pancras International that’ll get you to Paris’ Gare du Nord train station in just over 2 hours. Then, take the Métro to Paris St-Lazare where you can catch a train to Normandy cities like Caen and Bayeux near the D-Day beaches.

Does the train stop at Normandy D-Day beaches?

No, you can’t take a train from Paris directly onto Normandy’s D-Day beaches, but you can get quite close. Bayeux train station and Caen train station are within a 20 min drive to the beach. Public buses are available, as well as guided tours, but who are we kidding, you’ll hop in a rideshare and be there in a flash.

What to know about London, Paris, and Normandy train stations

London st pancras international .

London St Pancras International is a large station beside King’s Cross. It’s the home of the Eurostar route that connects London and Paris with a direct train. Tons of shopping, dining, and lodging are in and around the station. Arrive early for your Eurostar check-in.

Paris Gare du Nord

Gare du Nord is the main Eurostar train station in Paris and has connections throughout France, Germany, Belgium , and the Netherlands . It’s one of the largest and busiest train stations on the continent so while there’s plenty to see, do, and eat, be sure to keep an eye on the clock so you don’t miss your train.

Paris St-Lazare

Gare St-Lazare is the second busiest train station in Paris behind Gare du Nord. Cafés, bars, and shops fill this large station. For future reference, make a note that Paris St-Lazare connects not only to Normandy’s D-Day beaches, but also travels directly to other major cities in Normandy like Rouen, Cherbourg and Le Havre, if you’re looking for other great day trips .

Gare de Bayeux

This small regional station is one of two main stops to get to Normandy’s D-Day beaches. Gare de Bayeux is in the center of Bayeux so you’re only footsteps away from a bite to eat or a convenience store. History buffs may want to stop at the Museum of the Battle of Normandy before heading down to the beaches.

Gare de Caen

Before you stop at Bayeux, Gare de Caen is your first opportunity to get off to go to Normandy’s D-Day beaches. Caen’s station has a single shop and a single restaurant, but like Bayeux, you won’t have to walk far beyond the station to get what you need. While you’re walking, visit the Mémorial de Caen war museum .

Learn more about caen, caen travel guide (normandy, france).

Caen is a perfect location if you want to discover the major highlights that the Normandy region has to offer. Within the city there are a number of monuments to visit such as Abbaye aux Dames and Abbaye aux Hommes, the Vaugueux neighbourhood, the Marina and the WWII Memorial museum with its fascinating D-Day exhibit;

A bit of history

There is not much known about Caen before the early 11th century. It is with William the Conqueror that the city really begins to be mentionned. He will have a fortress built as well as the famous Saint Stephen and Trinity Abbeys. The town became the possession of the King of France Philippe-Auguste in 1204 but the town fell back into English hand during the 100 years War. The town will remain English until 1450.

After a series of plague pandemics, the town was shaked by the war of Religions between Catholics and Protestants. The latter took the town and devastated the Abbeys and Churches. After the Edict of Amboise of 1563 the fighting eventually stopped.

The next most important event in the history of Caen takes place on June 6th 1944. After the Normandy landings, Caen is one of the main objectives of the Allied Forces. According to the original plans, the city was to be liberated on the first day but that did not happen. The town will not be liberated until August of 1944 and in just a month of intense bombing that town has lost nearly 70% of its buildings.

Recomendo a Descobrindo a Normandia.

Very enriching experience

We decided to make the tour with the agency of “My Normandy Tour” for having the option of French guide speaking english.

We had already visited the region before, but we thought that a guide in English would complete what was missing.

Pierre planned and executed our tour corresponding to all our expectations and beyond, because the contact with someone local gives us a very different view of culture, language, politics, etc.

very enriching experience.

Falaise Etretat

With their majestic cliffs, they attracted many writers and artists who sought inspiration there.

The writers Victor Hugo, André Gide and the impressionists Boudin, Pissaro and Monet are examples of those who have enchanted the unique landscape of Etretat. Visiting Etretat means discovering a unique place.

We will visit two typical Normandy towns called Deauville and Honfleur

Located in the heart of Normandy, just 2 hours from Paris, a place of elegance and art de vivre, Deauville is the stage for the American Film Festival.

Honfleur is famous for its port, Le Vieux Bassin, and its picturesque slate-roofed houses. The city, made up of small streets and houses with a typically Norman charm, is pleasant to visit at any time of year.

Rouen, the scene of the dramatic martyrdom of Joan of Arc, where, in 1431, the heroine was condemned and burned in the historic Place du Vieux Marché, invites you to delve into an exciting past full of history.

Our tour will take you to discover the best of Rouen: admire the architectural beauty of the Grand Clock of Rouen, explore the majestic Notre Dame Cathedral and stroll through the historic Place du Vieux Marché, setting of the moving Joan of Arc episode.

5 days Normandy Private Tour

The 5-day private tour of Normandy offers a complete experience, including transportation, tickets, guided tours and hotel reservations.

Highlights include Monet's House and Garden at Giverny, the port city of Honfleur, the historic D-Day beaches and the American Cemetery, plus the majestic visit to Mont Saint Michel.

The itinerary also covers the Basilica of Lisieux, a Calvados distillery, the elegant city of Deauville, the stunning cliffs of Etretat and the rich history of Rouen, concluding with a return to Paris.

D-Day - 1 Day visiting the Normandy Beaches

We started our tour at Pointe du Hoc, a strategic point that was neutralized by Rangers on June 7, 1944.

Then we will head towards Omaha Beach, visit the beach and then the American Cemetery, created to perpetuate the memory of those who fought in the Battle of Normandy.

Continuing the itinerary, we will visit the German Longues Sur Mer coastal defense battery.

Our last stop on the tour will be at Arromanches beach (Gold Beach, artificial port of Mulberry), we will stop at the museum – Arromanches store.

Embark on an enchanting journey through the gardens and home of Claude Monet, one of the most renowned impressionist painters. Located in Giverny, France, these meticulously tended gardens have served as inspiration for many of his masterpieces.

Explore the lush flower gardens, Japanese bridges and water lily-filled ponds, immortalized in his iconic paintings. Admire the serene atmosphere that captivated Monet and discover the refuge that shaped his singular talent. A unique experience that allows you to immerse yourself in the artistic magic and natural beauty that enchanted the great master.

Mont Saint Michel

We will leave Paris in the morning and return at the end of the day.

The trip to Mont Saint Michel takes around 3 and a half hours.

Once you arrive at the location, you will have free time to explore the village's alleys and hills.

Accompanied by your guide, you will visit the abbey and learn details about the history, architecture and religious significance of the abbey.

3 days of D-Day Tour

The 3-day Normandy tour offers an immersive experience of historic D-Day sites, including beaches, museums and memorials.

It begins with visits to the Memorial of the Battle of Normandy and the Pegasus Bridge, followed by exploration of Sainte Mère L’Eglise, Utah and Omaha Beach, in addition to the D-Day experience.

The final day covers a visit to Gold Beach, the Artificial Harbor at Arromanches and the Merville Battery, providing an in-depth understanding of the events of the Second World War.

9-SEATER VAN

UP TO 8 HOURS

PICK-UP / DROP OFF

BAYEUX TRAIN-STATION, CAEN TRAIN-STATION

Did you know that the D-DAY beaches are just a 2,5-hour  train-ride away from Paris?

Why would you spend over 3,5 hours cramped in a van or stuck in a traffic jam when you could use that difference of an hour (each way) sightseeing!

FAST AND COMFORTABLE

Why wouldn't you try the alternative to a bus/group tour which also happens to be the fastest way to reach Normandy from Paris? You just have to take an early train from Paris St. Lazare railway station in to Caen or Bayeux. Furthermore, you may or may not reserve seats in advance because most of the time tickets are available even minutes before departure.

TAILOR-MADE EXPERIENCE

Your guide-driver will meet you at the railway station upon your train arrival. Depending on your interests, you may opt for a D-DAY tour (half-day or full-day tour formula) or simply head straight to Mont Saint Michel. One way or another, at the end of the tour your guide will drop you off at the same station from which you will be able to take another train back to Paris.

Enjoy the experience of living, sailing and eating like a true Viking and tasting local Normandy products.

This Tour is really great for family as I have designed it especially for them. You'll spend the day in the boots of Ragnar and Rollo from Vikings. You'll sail for a few hours on a real Viking Ship. You'll really experience what rowing or steering such a long ship meant. You'll have lunch just like the Vikings ate back then. You'll also spend some time in a Viking Village near Caen, and see for yourself how they lived, worked and fought. And because Vikings also worshiped the apple tree for the eternal youth it gave, they also made hard cider, Normandy's "wine". Discover Normandy's cider and apple brandy in Cambremer, where you'll visit one of the best Calvados distilleries of my region. And to finish your day, I'll show you Honfleur, the most lovely port of Normandy, also founded by a Viking called Hon. The church and village of Honfleur - where I got married - was built with their ships, and has an amazing style. If you're looking for a really unique and fun tour, this is the one!

- Caen. 9AM -9. 20AM Stop at the Domaine de Beauregard Ornavik -9. 20AM - 11AM Visit of the Viking Reenactement Village -12PM Carentan Port Dreknor -12PM - 3PM Dreknor Sailing Sail on the Dreknor - if weather and tides allows Lunch on board - local Viking Specialties. Please inform me when booking about any dietary restrictions, as I will cater for lunch and drinks. -4PMStop at Cambremer -4PM- 5PM-Cambremer Calvados Factory visit and tasting -5. 30PM Stop in Honfleur -5. 30PM - 7PM Visit of Honfleur -7PM Arrival in Caen

Meeting Point + Tour Duration

Meeting Point Options: Rail or Bus Station, Hotel, Address or Intersection

Welcome to Our Useful Info Accordian: Cultural Visits - An Introduction

* For Paris-based  clients wishing to book a Cultural Shuttle please refer to our Transport Solutions  page.

This section contains a summary of each of our Cultural Shuttles to famous local Normandy tourist attractions. It also contains an overview of our Flagship Overlord-Neptune multiple-day Cultural & D-Day experience . (including Paris or ‘*Outside Zones’ [*see homepage] pick-up/drop-off options.

* If you are travelling to Normandy for the day by train or car, then we recommend a morning pick-up followed by a 1/2 day D-Day Tour of your chosen D-Day Sector with lunch in Bayeux, followed by 2 hrs spent sightseeing in the old medieval Town of Bayeux (or historic Honfleur), accompanied by your guide. Whilst perusing our optional ‘extras’ on the Cultural Visits page you’ll see there are many options: From orchard visits with Calvados & Cheese Tasting, to speedboat rides at Etretat and even a heli-tour, on our Flagship tour.

In any event it would be such a shame to visit the region and miss the stunning Bayeux Cathedral, the renowned Tapestry and never to have strolled along its historical Normand streets, steeped in Caramels, Cheese & Calvados…and completely unscathed by World Wars! It’d be like visiting Egypt and not seeing the pyramids…

Please don’t hesitate to contact us via the ‘Get In Touch’ below or via email if you need help in any way with your booking. We endeavour to respond to all emails within 24 hrs (please allow ip to 72 hrs in high season).

Bayeux is the home of the Bayeux Tapestry, which depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England. It is also known as the first major city secured by the Allies in France. Charles de Gaulle made two famous speeches in this town. The population is about 15000 inhabitants.

OMAHA BEACH – WN62

The US 1st Infantry and 29th Infantry Divisions, as well as elements of the US Army Rangers were tasked with opening up 5 exit points to start the movement inland. Supported with incredible air and sea pre-bombardment, Allied planners expected to be moving off the beach area within 2 hours. Sadly, this was not the case and this is why many documentaries and movies have been made about this location. When you hear the stories from your guide, you will understand why this beach is known as, "Bloody Omaha". Depending on the tide, you will have the opportunity to walk on the sand and see the beach from the soldiers perspective. From this point of view, the high bluffs that once had machine guns firing down, are very intimidating.

AMERICAN CEMETERY

The Normandy American Cemetery covers 172 acres and is the final resting place for many thousands of service men and women. You will have sufficient time to explore the visitor center before taking the time to reflect in the cemetery . Four women and three Medal of Honor recipients, including Theodore Roosevelt Jr, are some of the most notable people buried here.

OMAHA BEACH – DOG GREEN

You will hear the story of "the Bedford Boys", a group of 30 young men from Bedford Virginia, a town of 3,200. All of whom had joined the National Guard before the outbreak of WW2 and had then been incorporated into Company A, 116th Infantry, 29th Division. Prior to D-Day, they were chosen to be the first wave to land on Omaha Beach, Dog Green Sector, which was the best defended and toughest of the invasion points on that historic day.

POINTE DU HOC

During World War Two, the Nazis were in the process of building the Atlantik Wall; a series of fortifications from Norway to the border of France and Spain. Stretching for over 2000 miles, this formidable construction of fortifications was designed to try and prevent an Allied landing in the west. One such site was located at the Pointe Du Hoc in Normandy. Consisting of 6 long range gun positions and many other concrete bunkers, it posed a real threat to Allied shipping on D-Day. As this battery was right between the two American landing beaches, Allied planners had no choice but to knock out this position. Here you will hear the incredible stories of bravery shown by US Army Rangers who had to scale nearly 100 feet of cliffs to destroy the guns.

SAINTE MERE EGLISE

This small Norman town was situated on the main N13 road that linked Cherbourg to Bayeux and Caen. This was the main route that both Germans and Americans would have to utlise to mobilise much needed equipment during the battle of Normandy. Sainte Mere Eglise was an objective for 82nd Airborne Paratroopers and has been made famous by the movie, The Longest Day. American Paratrooper John Steele was unfortunate to get caught on the church steeple during the drop.

MEEHAN CRASHSITE

Aircraft “66”, a Douglas C-47, flew over the English Channel on the night of June 5-6, along with hundreds of other aircraft carrying US paratroopers. The plane “chalk” 66 is unfortunately hit by the fire of the German anti-aircraft defense: it attempts a landing, but explodes against a hedge. The Easy Company pilots and paratroopers are dying on the spot.

HEDGEROW BATTLES

As we drive, we will show you some of the typical hedgerow terrain that the allies had to battle through. We will explain how the Germans utilised the countryside to their defensive advantage and how the allies overcame them.

LECLERC MONUMENT – WN8

We will show you some German bunkers known in German as weiderstandsnest 8 (WN8) and discuss about the role of the free french forces.

Utah Beach was the code name given to the western most landing beach on D-Day. The American 4th Division under the command of Theodore Roosevelt Jr were tasked with assaulting this section of the Normandy coastline.

LEADERSHIP MONUMENT

We will stop briefly to show you one of our favourite monuments in Normandy. Richard Winters was chosen to represent leadership due to his world wide fame from the TV mini-series, Band of Brothers.

SAINTE MARIE DU MONT

We will take time to explain the significance of this beautiful small village. This was an objective for the 101st Airborne to help the forces landing on Utah Beach.

ANGOVILLE-AU-PLAIN

Situated approximately 5 miles from Carentan, the small village of Angoville-Au-Plain witnessed heavy fighting between the German Paratroopers and American Paratroopers that dropped close by at dropzone D. After our 101st Airborne briefing, you will then hear the incredible story of two Airborne Medics. Kenneth Moore and Robert Wright displayed not only courage but also humanity during the desperate struggle to take this small area of Normandy.
