Pearl Jam postpones Indiana concert 'due to illness': 'We wish there was another way around it'

Alternative rock band Pearl Jam has been forced to postpone a concert in Indiana due to illness.

In a statement posted to Instagram, the band said its Sunday concert at the Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana, was being rescheduled "due to illness." An exact illness was not specified in the post, nor was it revealed which band members are currently sick.

"The band is deeply sorry and thinking about all those who travel to shows, as well as the great crowd in Indy," the statement said. "It's obviously serious, and we wish there was another way around it. Again we apologize, and thanks so much for your understanding. It's not easy..."

USA TODAY has reached out to Pearl Jam's representatives for comment.

Tickets will be honored for a future rescheduled date, the band said. Ticket holders who cannot make the new show will be eligible for a refund.

Upcoming concerts in Fort Worth, Texas, on Sept. 13 and 15 and in Austin, Texas, on Sept. 18 and 19 remain scheduled as planned, the band said.

Pearl Jam isn't the only member of rock 'n' roll royalty to find themselves under the weather recently.

Bruce Springsteen announced Wednesday that he was postponing a slate of concerts in September on the advice of doctors who are treating him for peptic ulcer disease .

The legendary rocker posted  a note to his official Instagram page  informing fans that starting with his scheduled Sept. 7 concert in Syracuse, New York, he would be taking a break from performing due to his condition.

In August, Springsteen  uncharacteristically postponed two concerts at Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park , citing illness. But he was back for  a trio of hometown stadium stompers  at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, that kicked off Aug. 30 and wrapped Sept. 3.

Pearl Jam has postponed the band's Sunday night show at Ruoff Music Center.

In a statement, the band said the concert was being rescheduled "due to illness."

Pearl Jam announces show at Ruoff Music Center in September

INDIANAPOLIS — Pearl Jam will hit the road in August and September performing nine shows across the country — including Noblesville.

Along with special guest Inhaler, the legendary rock back will play at Ruoff Music Center on Sunday, September 10.

General public tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster Verified Fan, which requires advance registration in order to participate. Ticketmaster Verified Fan registration begins began today and closes Tuesday evening.

In an effort to avoid fans paying excessive resale prices, Pearl Jam is making tickets non-transferable where permitted.

Pearl Jam will use all-in pricing across this tour for the first time. This means the ticket price listed is the full out-of-pocket price inclusive of fees so there are no surprises at check out.

A special ticket pre-sale for all tour dates begins today for eligible members (active as of April 19, 2023) of PEARL JAM 's fan club, Ten Club .

General public tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster Verified Fan, which requires advance registration in order to participate. Ticketmaster Verified Fan registration begins Today, April 20 at 10 a.m. PT and closes on Tuesday, April 25 at 5 p.m. PT. The Verified Fan sale begins on April 28 at 10 a.m. venue local time. PEARL JAM continues to try to protect fans' access to fairly priced tickets by providing the majority of tickets to Ten Club members, making tickets non-transferable where permitted, and by selling PJ Premium tickets. PJ Premium seats are located in a variety of preferred locations and account for approximately 10% of ticket inventory per show. They are priced at market rate to offset increased touring costs while also keeping prices low for the rest of the ticket inventory. Pearl Jam Announce Limited 2023 U.S. Tour Dates, Playing Most Places Twice

Pearl Jam have announced a limited run of 2023 U.S. tour dates, with nine shows booked in just five different cities.

The trek will begin on Aug. 31 in St. Paul, Minnesota and the band will perform a second night at this location on Sept. 2. From there, it's onward to Chicago in Illinois, Indianapolis in Indiana and two sets of stops in Texas — Fort Worth, then Austin.

Pearl Jam, who last released  Gigaton in 2020, will perform twice in each city except for Indianapolis. Inhaler, an alt-rock band from Dublin, Ireland, are set to open in Chicago, Indianapolis and Austin, while support at the remaining stops will be announced in the coming weeks.

Per a press release, the group is making an effort to "protect fans' access to fairly priced tickets by providing the majority of tickets to Ten Club members, making tickets non-transferable where permitted, and by selling PJ Premium tickets."

Pearl Jam has announced a slew of new 2023 US tour dates, which will kick off in Minneapolis in August.

The iconic grunge band will perform nine shows in August and September, making stops in St. Paul, Chicago, Indianapolis, Fort Worth, and Austin. It will be joined by special guests Inhaler as support for the dates in Chicago, Indianapolis, and Austin, with the opening act for the other shows to be announced in the coming weeks.

With the new tour dates, Pearl Jam will try to protect fans by giving access to fairly priced tickets, the majority of which will be provided to members of its Ten Club fan club. Tickets will be non-transferable in all states except Illinois, where it is prohibited by law. In a press release, the band apologized to fans in the state “who may be subject to increased ticket prices on the secondary market.”

PJ Premium tickets will also be sold, with those seats located in a variety of preferred locations and will account for approximately 10 percent of the ticket inventory per show. Last year, Pearl Jam committed to addressing its carbon footprint as a touring band with an initiative that saw the band pledging to pay $200 per ton of CO2 used on its Gigaton tour. Globally, the carbon offset market varies, but the average amount paid per ton of CO2 is between $1-15.

Pearl Jam’s Dark Matter World Tour 2024: How To Get Tickets

P earl Jam’s massive international tour is kicking off very soon! The celebration of the band’s new album Dark Matter will hit stadiums across the world in the US, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Spain, Australia, Germany, and Portugal. They’re also bringing along some killer supporting acts that include Deep Sea Diver, Richard Ashcroft, The Murder Capital, Glen Hansard, and Pixies. 

Luckily, it looks like tickets are still available for many of the upcoming dates. And we’ll help you snatch them up before they’re gone.

The first stop on the Pearl Jam 2024 Tour will be on May 4 in Vancouver, British Columbia at Rogers Arena with support from Deep Sea Diver. The final tour date will be on November 23 in Sydney, Australia at Giants Stadium with support from Pixies.

Pearl Jam Performs Live on ‘The Howard Stern Show’

The band is making their ‘Stern Show’ debut after releasing their 12th studio album.

Pearl Jam made their debut on “ The Howard Stern Show ” – live from their Seattle headquarters – on Monday, April 22. Check out their full conversation with Howard Stern and set on Howard 100 on the SiriusXM app and radios with a subscription or free trial .

While Eddie Vedder has previously appeared on the “Stern Show,” this marks Pearl Jam’s first time on the show as a band. During the appearance, the legendary group performed their classics “Daughter” and “Yellow Ledbetter,” plus “Scared of Fear” from their new album, “ Dark Matter .” They released their 12th studio album last Friday (see tracklist below).

“The Howard Stern Show” airs live on the Howard 100 channel Monday-Wednesday (7am-11am ET), with replays of Mondays and Tuesdays shows on Thursdays and Fridays. Episodes and videos are available on the SiriusXM app .

Pearl Jam Radio “Dark Matter” special

Ahead of their “Stern Show” appearance, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready, Stone Gossard, and Jeff Ament premiered the album with exclusive commentary on their year-round SiriusXM channel, Pearl Jam Radio.

“I think the main request we have of you – not that we’re in that position, but if we were, to ask anything – I would recommend you play it loud,” Eddie says of the album during the exclusive “Dark Matter” special. “Like, really loud.”
