Kevin was one of the most enjoyable, knowledgeable guides we’ve had ever. Great with kids. Even when our three kids were driving us crazy, Kevin was making jokes and keeping things light while educating our entire group moving things along at great pace. Never bored and had fun .

The whole process getting out to the statue is a nightmare. Poor signage coupled with people trying to sell statue boat rides, make the process of buying a ticket confusing. The tickets are actually sold inside an old fort. Be prepared to wait about 45 minutes for grounds only tickets, as all other are sold out. Then be prepared to wait over two hours in security lines, like I did. Why are the lines so long? Because a portion of them are not roped off and people just keep cutting into the line ahead of you. I'm here to see a statue, not to be a police officer. The airport style security took forever. If each security line had its own metal detector, instead of two lines sharing one, the process would move much faster. The actual boats out to the statue look like they should be in a museum. They look very old and there is only one entrance/exit. This makes boarding and unloading very time consuming. The statue is a must see, but the whole process of getting there is so inconvenient and inefficient, that it just has to be a government managed operation.

Statue Cruises is the official ferry line that takes you to Liberty Island and Ellis Island. You cannot get on Liberty Island to the Statue unless you go through Statue Cruises. They have 2 locations to board the ferries--one in Manhattan in Battery Park (Clinton Castle) and the other in New Jersey in Liberty State Park. We boarded the ferry in Manhattan. We took the subway from Midtown to Bowling Green station. When we exited, there were people right there guiding you where to go to purchase or pick up tickets. We had Crown access tickets and went to the Will Call window. The lady at the counter was friendly and helpful. We asked some other people who worked there a few questions and they were also helpful. We had to pass through security before getting on the boat. The first stop is Liberty Island. When you are done there, you wait to board a boat which stops first at Ellis Island. You can either get off at Ellis or stay on and return to Battery Park. Once you exit at Battery Park you cannot get on again. The boat operators were efficient and kept the line moving so people got on quickly. The ride was smooth and didn't take very long. There is a place onboard the boats where you can purcahse snacks and drinks if you need something.

My husband took me on a trip to New York City for my birthday this year and we decided to do the tourist view of downtown Manhattan. Of course this includes visiting Lady Liberty and Ellis island! We got lucky with a gorgeous partly sunny day and the boat cruise itself was glorious. Keep in mind the boat's boarding process is a bit hectic, not organized at all, however, once you are on the boat and find a good seat, the view is spectacular. Upon reaching Liberty Island, seeing the Statue of Liberty up close really reminds you of your patriotism. I actually got emotional seeing her up close! There is a sense of pride that washes over you. It was spectacular. Ellis island was very interesting as they go over the history of all the people who came through there hundreds of years earlier. You feel the energy of those "huddled masses" when you visit. It's a must do if you come to New York City as a tourist.

perkiomen tours bus

The ferry stops at Liberty Island and Ellis Island. I recommend you stop on both islands. On Liberty Island you have access to an audio guide (free and in several languages) explaining very well the history of construction of Statue of Liberty with some small stories. But ATTENTION it does not give you access to the inside of the Statue of Liberty, for this you have to book in advance (1 to 2 weeks). This is another ticket. Then the museum at Ellis ISland is really very interesting. There are 3 exhibitions. The most interesting lasts almost 2 hours I would say, the others can be done faster. Here too there are free audio guides and in several languages. There is also a restaurant inside. I took the boat around 9am, there was nobody so the security check was done quickly and very little wait. But past 10am we can see the boats with more and more people. Don't forget your camera!

Called to book a trip for my grandmother and mother and requested to stay seated in front of the bus because my mother gets very car sick if she's seated past the axles on the bus and was told my the general manager they can not do it that it was against company policy. Very unhappy with a statement like that. I mean how hard is it to accommodate that request so she can take me 78 year old grandmother on a trip my grandparents have traveled with this company for the better part of 15 years until my grandfather passed and now I get told this. That enough to make me not recommend this company to anyone.

Booked a tour through them. Allentown to NYC and back. Promised us home by 7:15. Part way home all the buses detoured to New Hope:? REALLY?!?! Had to change drivers. So now we get home a half hour later. While it may not seem like a big deal it was. It was a middle school trip. The school planned on no dinner and figured the kids could eat late. Well now they get to eat, bath and go to bed in quick order. THEY OWE US HALF THE BUS FAIR! Should not get a penny for the delay. We could have been home early. From their location to New Hope is the same distance from their home base to Allentown. Why not take us home and then switch drivers. F'ing waste and I blame management. NEVER USE THEM EVER.

Musical, stunt and theatrical performances, magic acts and comical mud beggars are just a few of the many daily shows! Immerse yourself in the days of Merrie Olde England, steeped in the allure of bygone days and knights!

Each weekend throughout the Faire season will showcase an exciting and unique theme that offers a different experience every time.

2024 Scenario

Choose. Your. Guild.  It’s 1589, and England is victorious! The Spanish Armada has been defeated, and the treasure fleet captured. Now, laden with new riches, Queen Elizabeth is making her way to the Shire of Mount Hope for a victory celebration! Intent on investing the spoils of war in her people, Her Most Gracious Majesty will offer Mount Hope’s guilds the opportunity to lobby her for a share through a Tournament of Guilds!

Will you support the industrious and shrewd Merchants Guild? The cunning and sly Thieves Guild? Or the dutiful and loyal Civics Guild? Perhaps you fancy yourself a connoisseur of artisan food, beverage, or wares and support the Crafts Guild. On the other hand, you could be a mercurial and merry-making fan of the Revels Guild. Whichever guild you choose, fly their banners high and wear their colors proudly. In the process, you can earn them points and help them reap the rewards of the Queen’s generosity! Hopefully the competitive spirit remains friendly…

So much shopping, so little time! Having over 100 unique merchants to visit during an already packed Faire day makes it difficult to see and do everything in one day. The independent merchants each operate their own business upon the Shire and look forward to bantering and bartering with Faire visitors. Demonstrations by many merchants show guests rarely seen art forms before their very eyes.

Reading Terminal Market

The Reading Terminal Market, considered by many as one of the finest public markets in the U.S., blends together state-of-the-art systems technology without sacrificing its historical integrity. It’s not only a popular hometown attraction, but also the most popular Philadelphia tourist destination after the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. More than 80 merchants offer patrons fresh produce, meats, fish, groceries, flowers, baked goods, crafts, books, clothing, as well as hard-to-find specialties and ethnic foods. Shopping and dining become a pleasure in this warm, inviting, and unique atmosphere. The Reading Terminal Market, as it was over a hundred years ago, is reminiscent of personal, neighborhood shopping, and still offers something for everyone. A trip to Philadelphia would not be complete without stopping here.

Eastern State Penitentiary

Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells held nearly 85,000 people over its long history, including bank robber “Slick Willie” Sutton and “Scarface” Al Capone.

The general interest tour highlights Eastern State’s 142-year history, revolutionary and influential architecture, and stories of people who lived and worked in the building while setting the stage for conversations about criminal justice reform today.

Promised us home but pulled a fast one. They needed a driver change but never told us. Caused us a delay. NYC to Allentown should have taken 78 right into Allentown. NOPE they took us to NEW HOPE, PA. REALLY! They could not have arranged a driver change anywhere else. BULL. Worst bus trip ever. The buses looked nice though our drive did sideswipe another bus going into NYC. Really stressed out the kids.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.
